cocky bastard vibes - zhongli
Tumblr media
ship: zhongli x reader
synopsis: in which reader shares their free thoughts on the liyue statue of seven
notes: standalone snippet part of the bookkeeping!verse
Tumblr media
It was a beautiful day in Liyue. The grass was a luscious green and the birds were singing a beautiful song. After a nice stay at the Emerald Maple Inn, you and Mr. Zhongli decided to have a cup of tea next to the Statue of the Seven before heading on your way to Qingce Village. You were to accompany him to pick up supplies for the next funeral rite, and with the way the morning was going, you knew nothing would ruin this peaceful day.
"So how much do you want to bet that Rex Lapis was hot and knew it?”
You ignored the choked sound that came from your side as you gazed up at the picturesque statue. Though your companion would probably consider your question quite out of the blue, you couldn’t say it was the first time you wondered such a thing. Whenever you passed by one of them in Liyue, the thought always plagued your mind for a few hours after. Judging by Mr. Zhongli’s reaction, though, it seemed he did not share your sentiments.
"Ehem… That… certainly is an interesting thought. I can’t say whether or not previous records touched on such a topic."
You hummed, gazing up at the statue. Really? That couldn’t be true. Why wouldn’t anyone talk about a statue looking like that?
“Well there are many reasons why I’d say I’m right. First off, his outfit. He has a hooded cloak on while also being shirtless. There’s absolutely no logical reason to dress like that unless they’re from the deserts of Sumeru, wouldn’t you say? It obviously was a conscious fashion decision. If you pair that with the seductive way he’s sitting, I’d be inclined to assume he’s quite clearly feeling his look.”
Silence came from your side. Hm, Mr. Zhongli still wasn’t convinced? Then you would go on.
“You do see it, right? His posture is relaxed, yet confident. Not to mention the way he’s looking at that cube in his hand with practically bedroom eyes. His knees are apart too. My friend from Sumeru told me that when a man sits like that, he’s displaying his dominance.”
Still silence.
"You can't sit in a seductive pose like that without on some level being aware you look good doing it. I mean look at him! He's shirtless and everything! I've heard even macho fishermen say that they pray to the statue for a good night before coming home to see their wives. You can’t blame them, right?"
A hesitant cough.
"I-I'm sure it was a younger time when those statues were sculpted."
You groaned.
"Maybe, but you’re not even looking! If you did, you’d agree with me that Rex Lapis is clearly exuding such massive 'cocky bastard' vibes!" You countered.
For some reason, the more you spoke, the more flustered he became.
"C'mon, Mr. Zhongli! Why are you so embarrassed? It's not like I'm slandering his good name! I mean, if Rex Lapis didn't want us talking about him like this, maybe he shouldn't have made a statue with abs clean enough to eat off of!"
Okay, maybe at this point, you were piling it on a bit thick. Could anyone blame you? His face was in his hand as if he had a headache, and were his ears tinged the slightest hint of red? It was an interesting sight. Never had you seen him look so completely flustered. Sure you were rather blunt, but you didn't think your words were that provocative. Mr. Zhongli really was practically a 65 year old man.
"I thought you respected the Geo Archon…" He muttered weakly.
You gasped in offense.
"I do! I’d even consider my words the utmost of pious behavior. In Mondstadt, the sisters of the church consider themselves married to Barbatos, the Anemo Archon. So finding the Geo Archon to be a sex god is pretty much the same thing, right?”
“No, it is not.”

Sorry if this is to specific
But can you do a thick user with demon slayer men? And when I say thick i mean like a pear body shape wide lower body parts and stretch marks I just don’t see a lot of writers do this body type
It's not too specific at all! Honestly, you could even give more detail than that and it'd still be okay. I chose the guys, since you didn't include which specific men you wanted.
Pear-Shaped Thick!Reader with Demon Slayer men:
Tengen Uzui
Tumblr media
"What a flashy figure...!"
Tengen is enchanted by your looks. Your hair, skin, and fashion were so distinctive from the area. He was bored with the Meiji era standard of beauty. How were you going to be flashy if you looked standard?! He finally found another person that would understand his plight.
As expected, he's quite vocal with his appreciation. How could he NOT be? You were cool and extra fine; someone worthy to be apart of his harem.
"Y/N, you're just as stylish as ever!"
"Whoa! Be careful throwing that flashy figure around, you might just make people faint!"
The people he's referring to is his wives. They are also avid fans of you. What? You thought he would faint? And miss looking at that awesome body of yours?
He certainly did not want to miss seeing your smooth skin, enriched with lovingly patterned strikes that covered your cute hanging stomach, ass, and thighs. He bit his lips at the thought of touching your soft body. Cuddling with you would be heaven on earth. You were beautiful and beginning to be a wonderful possible addition to his marriage.
Giyuu Tomioka
Tumblr media
Characteristically, your shape is not the first attribute Giyuu noticed. He paid more attention to your face and how you acted during your introduction. Once his attraction to you becomes more apparent over time, that's when he pays attention to your body.
He's overwhelmed. How could he handle all that? He isn't a confident man. The only time his confidence shows is in his fighting and training, slightly. Not in romance, much less sexual interactions. He employs a secret style training...calls it Sex Breathing. It targets his arms, hips, and legs in order to handle your bottom heavy size.
One time, he accidentally watched you when you were changing. It was a small moment before he forcefully turned his head away. But Tomioka did not miss that you had stretch marks adorning your thick thighs. Giyuu became addicted to the memory, wishing he could have had the audacity to watch you fully undress.
Your figure could not be hidden by your clothing, much to his combined glee and chagrin. He loved that he could see it, but hated that others could enjoy your lovely figure too.
Gyomei Himejima
Tumblr media
Gyomei, respectable and pious as he is, privately succumbs to his dirty thoughts after you both start dating. He'd felt your bottom heavy figure against his body after the first hug. The feeling of that soft stomach and thick thighs stuck in his memory. The hulking young man begins to pray.
"Kami, as these straying thoughts plague my mind, i must ask that the gods keep me afloat. But, I must thank them! Only they could construct a being such as Y/N! I will not ignore this obvious blessing to my life!"
Gyomei will not make it known of his thoughts on your figure, keeping his comments to himself. He makes the effort to not make you uncomfortable, not wanting to scare you off. Once you let him know that it's okay, he is more free with his thoughts.
He strongly desires to hold you daily, his hands ache to travel down your pear-shaped figure in glee. You felt so soft. Gyomei wanted to cuddle to feel his hard muscles against your supple form. It's always a blessing when he's able to. Each time is more magical than the last.
Gyomei, selfishly, makes you describe your stretch marks to him. As poetic as possible, to paint the perfect picture in his head.
Sanemi Shinazugawa
Tumblr media
It was rough journey getting past Sanemi's tough exterior. Many times you wanted to give up on your odd pursuit of this mean ass hashira. But, it was obvious his act protected himself and others, albeit extremely harsh. You knew something sweet lied past that facade.
And your intuition was correct. After you broke him down with your endless flirting, he started to bite back. In his own special way, of course. It starts with:
"I'm not staring!"
To
"Just cause you're shaped like that doesn't mean you can say whatever you want."
To
"Sometimes looking at you calms me down...but excites me in a different way.."
Sanemi felt drunk whenever he was with you. The sight of you makes his heart race. Your pear shaped figure was something he could not ignore. Trust and believe, he has tried many times. It was as if your body called out to him, instructing him to look. Much to his embarrassment, it did not take long for him to relent to the voice and stare. He was always in a different plane of existence when you came into the room. It annoyed him to no end.
Sanemi was speechless when he first laid eyes upon your unclothed form. His eyes gravitated up and down the electric marks that blessed your appearance. You had never seen him so affected.

My Turn (Daemon x Reader)
Tumblr media
This gave a refreshing note of a “what if” and I haven’t written angst in a while so I hope you enjoy it as much as I did
Tumblr media Tumblr media
-
“Hightower women are cursed with the burden of being second wives”
Such a vile statement that the people at court would whisper for queen Alicent and her sister (y/n). When Alicent married king Viserys no one was aware of how heavy it sunk in little Alicents heart. (y/n) idolised her older sister since she never met their mother.
Alicent had already given birth two children and (y/n) remained a maiden, she did not mind if she was honest, the entire concept of wedlock terrified her, her hopeless romantic side yearned for a knight in shinning armour that would sweep her off her feet, however she did not allow herself to foolishly dream of such a future seriously.
“I come with wonderful news”
“You are with child again?”
“No, you are to marry”
“What? No”
“Yes sister, it has been long overdue, besides your lord husband is quite eligible”
“Care to share the name?”
“Daemon Targaryen”
-
Daemon had never been cruel to (y/n), he was fair enough to understand this was not her fault, on the contrary he acknowledged the effort she put everyday to make their marriage work, always greeting him with a kind smile, listening with the deepest intention, asking about his interests and yet he still could not… love her, it was odd still it was the truth, he turned cold against her, respected her but kept her at arms length, she was a good companion to him that were bind by wedlock and nothing more.
He tried, he really did try to deny Rhaenyra, after the brothel incident he attempted to cut the cord with his beautiful niece, but how could someone turn his back to such a woman that is Rhaenyra? She had bewitched him, wrapped his free will around her pretty little finger, the two dragons held a bright fire that was meant to burn side by side.
(Y/n) was the complete opposite of Rhaenyra, a meek and frail character, a pious girl that was lost within her religion, a septa was always by her side, though she was also kind, gracious, charitable.
“Do I repulse you that much?”
“What?”
“You can barely look me in the eye, I-I do not know what it is that makes you hate me so much”
“I do not hate you (y/n)-“
“Then why are you so cruel to me?”
Her voice broke as she questioned her husband, it had been Aegons nameday and (y/n) had more than one glass of wine, truth serum took over her brain as she walked in her husbands chamber to drill him.
Tears ran down her cheeks while her chin quivered, Daemon did not know how to answer her, he felt guilt pang his chest, she had been a dutiful wife, a loyal woman, however affection was not something that came naturally to him when it came to his wife.
“My dear wife”
He whispered to her, his voice softer than usual. Daemon reached for her, cupping her soft cheeks and her wiped away her tears with his thumbs, the bronze Bitch had never made it so difficult to be his usual unfriendly self, (y/n) made him fight with his own self and morals.
“I just- I wanted us to be happy”
She managed to confess between her sniffles, under the candle light she looked so wonderful, her nightgown let her shoulders, arms and chest bare, he had forgotten what her figure looked like since their wedding, she was pretty, desirable even.
Daemon might not have been the best lord husband, albeit he gifted her with the biggest love she could ever ask for, the love of a child. That night (y/n) caressed her stomach, deep inside she could feel her little dragon, the babe found refuge in her belly after their coupling.
Daemon had held his first born true son in his arms he felt the connection, however he recognised that on that morrow (y/n) became a mother for the first time, Daemon did not.
He had been decent, secretive with his affair with Rhaenyra, he owed (y/n) that much to allow her to walk around the castle with some decency, especially his two children, Baelon and Alyssa to be free of those whispers about their father.
“Why the frown sweet Aemond?”
“Everyone arrived with their dragons”
“Except of you and Alyssa”
“Everyone thinks I am a failure”
“do you think Alyssa is a failure?”
“No, Alyssa is kind and beautiful and funny-”
“And without a dragon, you know the greatest woman I have ever met does not ride a dragon”
“Who?”
“Your mother and yet look at her, the clement queen and the most elegant of them all”
As Aemond looked down at his shoes (y/n) took it upon herself to wrap her one arm around him and kiss the top of the princes head in endearment, she had witnessed how cruel Rhaenyras children were with their jokes, the pig incident had been the worst, Alyssa cried for two morrows from embarrassment.
“The gods work in mysterious ways, they take and then give back in ten fold, be patient, have faith and you shall be rewarded, also Baelon will take you for a ride on grey ghost, does that sound fun?”
“Really?”
“It is a sin to lie”
To see Aemonds face light up and ran to his nephew Baelon with excitement made (y/n)s day, she just remained still and allowed the scene of Aemond and Baelon talk about grey ghost.
“Thank you for that sweet sister”
Alicent approached her sister, as the ladies stood side by side the dress (y/n) was wearing was almost identical, the Hightower green stood out in between the Targaryen reds and blacks, (y/n) smiled at her older sister before she allowed her hand to brush against the queens upper arm for comfort.
“No reason to thank me, at the end of the day we only have family to lean on”
“Depends on what family are you referring, we are surviving between dragons you know”
“Alicent-“
“Where is your lord husband (y/n)? Oh that is right, I see him now, talking with Rhaenyra once again as he has her son in his arms. It is particularly odd, I have never seen him this affectionate with Baelon nor Alyssa”
Daemon and Rhaenyra had always been close, ever since she could remember Daemon had a soft spot for Rhaenyra, if she was honest they were times that she felt like there was a silent competition between her and the Targaryen princess.
As a woman and a wife it was considerably painful, as a mother she could not allow her emotions to poison their two children. (Y/n) had a eyes and a brain, it did not require more than that to identify the tenderness Daemon used around Rhaenyra, howbeit she swallowed the lump and her pride, shaking her head slightly to rid herself from all the thoughts.
“Such a observant lady you are, you know I could also say the same for your children, his grace has never been affectionate with either of the children you brought in this life, at least one thing I can say for myself is that my lord husband has never called me by his late wife’s name”
It was low blow, a punch in the gut and a dirty way to play but (y/n) had lost control, Alicent was her family, her confidant, she could not just listen to her sister spew such accusations for the father of her children.
(Y/n) felt suffocated, like Alicent had stolen all the air from her lungs, she did not spare a look to the queen as she stepped away from her to approach her youngest daughter Alyssa who was sitting on the floor by Heleanas side.
“My lovely lady bugs, it is getting quite late, why don’t we go inside?”
“Mother Heleana found a scorpion”
“Careful now Heleana, scorpions are known for their poisonous tail”
“The sting of the green scorpion will poison the mighty red dragon”
(Y/n) listened intently to her nieces riddles whenever she could hear them, Heleana was a kind soul and withheld a powerful gift, she was a dreamer, but this one seemed difficult to solve, dragons were Targaryens but who was the scorpion?
-
Alicent and (y/n) could never truly stay mad at each other, it wasn’t odd that the soldier who warned them about their children found the two ladies enjoying tea by the fire. The two had ran to their children, Aemond had been stitched up while Maelor suffered an injury across his collarbone.
“Jace? Luke! Show me, show me dearest”
“What is the meaning of this?!”
Once Daemon barged in the room with Rhaenyra he stood in front of the princess and allowed his eyes roam the room to find the corporate of the young Lucerys being wounded.
Voices erupted as Aemond, Baelon, Jace and Luke accused one another for the incident. The tired and ill king tormented by the pain of his plague could barely even talk so he resided with stomping his cane.
“Silence! All of you! What has happened on this grim day?”
“Your son has been maimed and her sons are responsible”
“It was an accident”
“Accident? The young Lucerys and Jacaerys managed to harm both prince Baelon and Aemond with their blade, they meant to kill not to tease”
(Y/n) chimed in fiercely, to see the blood of her first born stain his clothes as one of the maesters stitched him up and her nephew lose an eye, the tragedy stirred up a fire in (y/n)s heart.
“I am certain the princes can explain why they acted out like this”
(Y/n) scoffed at the words of her husband, there their son stood being the receiver of an attempted assassination and he still had the audacity to defend Rhaenyras children.
“Vile insults were thrown to my sons, they merely defended themselves”
“Defend? Correct me if I am wrong princess, wasn’t it your sons that pulled the most ridiculous and humiliating prank on dear Aemond?, it is they who chased down my son and Aemond to act like bullies in the middle of the night”
“(Y/n) do not allow your temper to take over, our son accused the future heir of illegitimacy, a treacherous crime”
“He is our son Daemon, in case you have forgotten, how can a father be so cruel to his first born?”
(Y/n)s voice broke when she drilled Daemon. She had done everything she could to keep their family together, to appear as a living couple and spare their children from the pain of being the second best, she covered her ears when her father and sister would ask questions about how close of a relationship Daemon had with Rhaenyra.
Now, when it was the time that he must stand up for their children, he was against them, he called their son “treacherous”, she was baffled at the emotions she was experiencing, her chest felt heavy from the fury and unfairness she was being treated with.
“Who spoke these lies to you prince Baelon?”
The king questioned. (Y/n) was known for her pacifist acts, she desperately searched for the good in people, nonetheless her son is being accused of treachery after he has been attacked, he was still being stitched when the king questioned him.
“It was Aegon, he said Rhaenyras children are my siblings”
The sensation (y/n) experienced was only described as a cold bucket of water was dumped on her head. The whispers had nipped her heels for so long, she could take it, on the other hand her children could not be put on that blade, Daemon had failed to protect them while he whole heartedly stood against his own wife to protect Rhaenyra.
Suddenly everything was clear, like a veil was lifted from (y/n)s eyes, Daemon had exposed them to shame and embarrassment, making a fool out of their wedlock for princess Rhaenyra.
Her eyes fell upon the blade (y/n) had gifted her husband for his nameday, a fine gift that she had requested from old town was sitting on his husbands waist band.
“Dear lord husband, do you have anything to say in your defence?”
She questioned him as she took a few steps to finally stand close enough. Daemon remained silent, not exactly sure of how to deal with this situation, he looked back on all his mishaps, on all the time he detected servants whispering while he conversant with Rhaenyra in the garden.
Daemons passion and love for her had left him exposed, he had dishonour Baelon and Alyssa that had tears pooling their eyes, waiting for their father to protect them and even defend their honour, deny everything and put their young minds to rest.
“my turn”
Was all (y/n) said before she swiftly took the dagger from Daemon and charged for the princess Rhaenyra, the princess was quick on her feet and managed to stop (y/n)s hand mid air, still the Hightower lady persisted all while grunt left her lips from the agony of embarrassment, even though Rhaenyra was defending herself she could not completely disregard (y/n)s feelings, casted aside and forced to work things out herself, however Rhaenyra always loved Daemon, it was their destiny to be together.
“It is time you pay for everything you have done”
“You have gone mad”
“Yes I have and your family is responsible for it. you have frowned upon me for so long, my husband turned his back on us every time our children needed their father, you have pointed the finger at my sister for everything that slightly inconvenienced you. We loved you, served you fiercely but we were never good enough for royalty, the dragon can only feel loved or give love to its own kind”
“As a pious woman expected you to be the selfless princess you portray yourself as, now you exposed yourself without me having to lift a finger, saint (y/n)”
It was that sentence that compelled (y/n) to give one last push with all her might, Rhaenyra shoved her away earning herself a clean cut from the blade, a few drops of blood dripped on the well polished floor and a unanimous gasp was breathed out from the people in this room.
Daemon caught Rhaenyra as she stumbled back and grabbed her arm to see the injury while (y/n) froze with her eyes almost popping from her eye socket, shocked at what she has done.
Rhaenyra spared a look to (y/n) full of questions, everyone’s breath hitched at the sight of two mothers coming to violence over words left unspoken for so long, the pain wasn’t as bad as the emotion Rhaenyra was experiencing, battling between backing herself and claiming her love for Daemon.
Rhaenyra was not as cruel as to not recognise (y/n) was caught in the crossfire, her heart tugged at the tears that started to form on her attackers eyes, the young lively girl she had once met was now an empty shell of a woman
“Mother, are you alright?”
Baelon reached his mother, concern written all over the young boys face. (Y/n) threw away the blade, disgusted about the way she acted while her children were present, her hands found the boys cheeks and placed a kiss on his forehead. Alicent and Aemond along with Alyssa came as well, surrounding (y/n) to support her, Daemon and Rhaenyra with the children on the other side, holding the princess up as her blood was shed.
Daemons heart was shattered and he could not help but feel responsible over this, Rhaenyra caught the sharp side of the blade and the bad side of his wife, his true born children betrayed by him, his love children exposed to the truth far too young, the blade did not just cut Rhaenyra, it also cut the bond between him and his true born children, all because he dared to love.
“Do not fret over me my sweet son, Hightowers are known for following tradition, sons will always come before daughters”
“Hightowers mayhaps, Baelon carries the name of Targaryens, and family comes before all”
“Exactly which family are you referring to Daemon? Yours and mine or Rhaenyras and…. Laenors?”
Requests are open!

None of which stopped Arya, of course. One day she came back grinning her horsey grin, her hair all tangled and her clothes covered in mud, clutching a raggedy bunch of purple and green flowers for Father. -   AGoT Sansa I
Sansa knew all about the sorts of people Arya liked to talk to: squires and grooms and serving girls, old men and naked children, rough-spoken freeriders of uncertain birth. Arya would make friends with anybody.  -   AGoT Sansa I
Arya had loved nothing better than to sit at her father's table and listen to them talk. She had loved listening to the men on the benches too; to freeriders tough as leather, courtly knights and bold young squires, grizzled old men-at-arms. She used to throw snowballs at them and help them steal pies from the kitchen. Their wives gave her scones and she invented names for their babies and played monsters-and-maidens and hide-the-treasure and come-into-my-castle with their children. Fat Tom used to call her "Arya Underfoot," because he said that was where she always was. She'd liked that a lot better than "Arya Horseface."  - AGoT Arya II
Margaery hailed them when the two columns met and fell in beside the queen's litter. Her cheeks were flushed, her brown ringlets tumbling loosely about her shoulders, stirred by every puff of wind. "We have been picking autumn flowers in the kingswood," she told them.
I know where you were, the queen thought. Her informers were very good about keeping her apprised of Margaery's movements. Such a restless girl, our little queen. She seldom let more than three days pass without going off for a ride. Some days they would ride along the Rosby road to hunt for shells and eat beside the sea. Other times she would take her entourage across the river for an afternoon of hawking. The little queen was fond of going out on boats as well, sailing up and down the Blackwater Rush to no particular purpose. When she was feeling pious she would leave the castle to pray at Baelor's Sept. She gave her custom to a dozen different seamstresses, was well-known amongst the city's goldsmiths, and had even been known to visit the fish market by the Mud Gate for a look at the day's catch. Wherever she went, the smallfolk fawned on her, and Lady Margaery did all she could to fan their ardor. She was forever giving alms to beggars, buying hot pies off bakers' carts, and reining up to speak to common tradesmen. - AFfC  Cersei VI
I just think Arya and Margaery are neat and would really get along  ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
So here they are getting some street food together~

besides criston what other characters do you think wouldve been canonized by the faith?
just did one for main series characters so i’ll do historical figures
most obvious + in the same category as cris where there’s a comparable real catholic saint baelor blessed who is a fantasy version of st louis the pious. louis inherited a court still full of charlemagne’s daughters and granddaughters and to exile them accused them of being whores to their father. i think he’s also meant to be angelo from shakespeare’s measure for measure religious zealot who exiles all the whores from the city then predates on a nun. need more info on baelor i knoww he was deeply sick but he’s also definitely canonised. has several associated miracles built the sept of baelor after receiving a vision very into religious fasting and giving alms all that crazy maidenvault shit and encouraging lords to keep their girls in chastity belts never fucked his wife ever closest thing to an existing in-universe saint
the faith hated maegor so fucking much basically anyone he ever interacted with has a good chance. definitely all of his wives bar tyanna. poxy jeyne poore and melony piper. every lord he ever killed HAS had a saint campaign based on that regardless of how well he lived
was going to say naerys and aemon (though i feel like it’d be a situation where she has a saint-cult of her own but he’s always part of the set. you might get a sept of st naerys or a sept of st naerys and st aemon but probably not just a st aemon) but i think it’d be funny if aegon unworthy blocked both of their canonisations on purpose much to the chagrin of the faith who had been planning them since naerys first floated frailly into the sept. could easily have been remedied later under a different king. popularity of saints often determined by how useful and relevant their patronage was and i think in westeros marriage mart culture naerys patron saint of enduring piety and wives of cruel husbands would do triple doubles
hugor of the hill comparable to biblical saints in terms of proximity to the seven and ‘historical’ figure in the seven-pointed star. supposed ancestor to the arryns also weeping alyssa arryn so saintpilled vv popular within the region
a ton of medieval saints were just prominent theologians usually the patron of whatever city they worked out of. barth probably but there would be a lot more
if any house is reenacting that one debacle where they called the faith to see a body was exuding a divine perfume and the faith said you’re trying to scam us you’ve sprayed the body with perfume and then vindictively buried the body in a dung heap it’s the lanns
disproportionate number of targ saints magaelle is a super obvious one i know the faith was punching the air when she contracted the disease she was self-sacrificially nursing that’s so good. i feel like there was a period where the creation of non-targ saints was banned after some scandal about status-grubbing houses trying to get saints in the family. there is one frey saint ever they constantly add things she’s the patron of and have some ghoulish relic like all her teeth glued together or her dried oesophagus
go back and forth on alicent definitely think the hightowers made an aggressive campaign. unflinching faith and duty to her husband (pointed septon voice) unlike some people. holy mother aspect and certainly placed herself at risk for faith ideals i could see her being a patron saint of oldtown (i’m sure oldtown has about fifty patron saints) however more proactive and ambitious than female saints usually are you aren’t meant to want worldly power
there has to be at least one septon a historic bolton flayed to death right. patron of dermatology and leatherwork

Hello! I am a big fan of your hcs of fashion in Planetos. I was wondering if you had anyone for Maegor's reign and his six wives. We are all crazy for our girl Rhaena the lesbian, but i Wonder, how do you imagine Alys Harroway and Tyanna of Pentos's fashion? Alys gives me the vibes that she was quite never prepared to be Queen, so when she became one, her fashion was between showy but... cheap in some way? disastrous if that makes sense?
Now this is some good shit
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ceryse Hightower, Maegor’s first wife, was said to be “shrewish” which I take as her being a relatively modest young girl and becoming a pious older queen, shying away from anything attention catching after years of suffering under Maegor’s wrath. Her fashion was always loose and covering, leaving nothing but her hands and face exposed. A generally unassuming and forgettable queen. She was the scorned Catherine of Aragon to…
Tumblr media Tumblr media
…Alys’ Catherine Howard. An innocent younger woman who could give the king sons, and is thus thrust into the role of queen, which she is wholly unprepared for. She is a young girl who was probably so excited to be the envy of all of Westeros, and wanted to buy the most expensive and ostentatious clothing she could. After their exile in Pentos, she is even more inspired by all the decoration on the locals clothing, and continues to dress in a showy, overcompensating way, up until her death
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I am taking a marker to the Orientalist view of Tyanna and scribbling it all out. She wasn’t walking around like an evil seductress in one sheer layer of gauze she was decked out in fine fabrics, layers and layers of satin and silk and soft linen in order to create detailed skirts and soft shawls. Her rise to power is very evident through her clothing, because no former bastard courtesan would be dressing like one once they rose through the ranks.

To break the chains
Father Matthew was a pious man. Of course, he believed in God, that was kind of a given for his profession. But he also, with all his heart believed in the humans around him.
This wasn't always easy, especially since he heard so many troubling confessions just about every day for 30 years now. There were people lying and stealing, men who cheated on their wives, women betraying their husbands. And, as father Matthew was painfully aware, these were just the ones actually making a confession. The vast majority of people didn't go to church, and probably didn't even consider that all of them made mistakes every day. He couldn't even blame them much.
Many of the rules his faith dictated him had to appear terribly outdated. Just today, a young man, probably around twenty years old, confessed with a trembling voice that he thought he might be gay.
Father Matthew sighed internally while tidying up his church. If Father Matthew were to make the rules, he would have told the young man to rejoice and be happy with who he was. But he didn't make the rules. That was a job for wiser men than him.
Still, or perhaps even because of these, he still believed in people. At the bottom of their heart, everyone always wanted to do good and be an awesome human being. There were just those, who let themselves stray from what was right. Or perhaps those people knew in their soul what was right but chose the wrong path to actually realize what was inside them.
He sighed again. He had told the young man to repent and pray to God for enlightenment, knowing full well that he wouldn't see that man again. This faith wouldn't give him the answers he was looking for, and sometimes, father Matthew wished he could change that.
But such thoughts were dangerous in itself and shouldn't be thought. Who was he to decide over the teachings of his faith?
Before leaving the church, he spoke a short prayer: "I wish, people were free from the chains that hold them from doing really good."
Tumblr media
Unbeknownst to him, his prayer was heard, but not by the being he hoped. A mischievous sprite had flown by the window just in time to hear that wish and, after having a short look into the priests mind, chuckled to himself. Perhaps the good father should start with himself with his selfless wish.
"What?" Father Matthew asked confusedly as he turned back towards the church building. He looked at it carefully before finally seeing something strange. On one of the windows there seemed to be a small figure dancing away, waving its hands around. However, after Father Matthew shook his head and looked again, the figure was gone. Strange, but perhaps nothing more than a trick of the light. He shrugged his shoulder and started his long walk home.
After a few minutes however, Father Matthew began to feel strange. His robe didn't seem to fit as well as it used to and he had some trouble keeping his balance, using a street light to steady himself. Something was wrong with his robe! It should of course have long flowing sleeves, but right now, his thin and aging arms were bare, and the robe was sleeveless. Upon closer inspection, these weren't his arms as well. They had no freckles and the thin hairs he could see were dark and not gray like they should be. Also, the arms were far too muscular, like they belonged to someone who was used to physical labor or worked out a lot. Fascinatedly, he inspected his hands. They weren't rough and worked, but they were definitely young and strong - much younger than the rest of father Matthew, bare his new arms.
He brought his hands to his face and felt it. No wrinkles! His face had changed. The skin felt smoother and firmer, and apparently, he had a beard now. His hair was strong and had not receded. Judging from the color of his arm hairs, it was dark.
Suddenly, Matthew felt a breeze on his chest. When he looked down, he noticed that the top part of his robe had dissolved, leaving his torso bare. As he watched, however, he could see his body rejuvenating. His skin cleared up and at the same time, his chest and upper body became strong and firm with muscles. Matthew could see chest and body hair sprouting in, and a leather harness forming itself around his chest. What a curious piece of clothing!
His lower body was next to change. His legs grew thicker and stronger as did his feet. Soon enough, he saw that the bottom half of his robe also shift and change material. What had once been flowing fabric became hard and tight black leather, with a shine to it, as it became a form-fitting pair of leather pants. His shoes followed suit, becoming black leather boots.
Suddenly, Matthew felt a rush of testosterone. Before his very eyes, a large bulge formed in the leather pants, while he felt his underwear disappearing. The feeling of a stiff erection growing in front of him made him gasp with excitement. It wasn't just any kind of arousal though; this one felt different. This one felt... masculine. He moaned, as he couldn't stop himself thinking of sexy... men? He knew that wasn't right, but it was all he could think about. Why shouldn't it be right? He was gay, he was a gay man.
Matt gave his cock a playful tug through his leather pants. There would be enough chance tonight to get his dick wet. One of the patrons, or perhaps Jerome, the beefy black bouncer of the bar where Matt worked were always done for a good fuck.
But that was a thing for later - now it was time for work. Matt jogged the rest of the way until he reached the rainbow house, the gay bar Matt worked as a barkeeper. He loved his job, and he was damn good at it. People jokingly even called him "Father Matt" because he was such a good listener when people told him their problems. If there was one thing, he was certain of, though, it was that he loved people. They were amazing, all of them, at the bottom of their hearts.

The Hightowers = hypocritical social-climbing opportunists who use religion for personal advantage
Something I have begun to notice: whenever you have a Hightower thrown into the mix in GRRM’s world, there is always trouble. Guaranteed.
Ceryse Hightower
Alicent Hightower
Margaery Tyrell (half Hightower on her mother’s side)
All these three women are known to have accepted anything or done anything in order to rise above their station, with the encouragement of their oh so pious and righteous family of course.
Hightowers aka the self-righteous a**holes, have used their close connection to the Faith/the Citadel to try and get in power for years, all the while stepping all over smallfolk and sometimes using them for their own gain.
Let’s talk a little bit about the first non-Valyrian Queen of the Seven Kingdoms which what do you know, was a Hightower.
Queen Visenya Targaryen initially wanted her son Maegor to marry his niece, Rhaena Targaryen. The idea wasn’t half bad and could have united both Visenya and Rhaenys’ bloodlines.
Also keep in mind that marriages between cousins as well as uncles and nieces weren’t considered incestuous in medieval times. The incestuous marriages condemned were those between parent and child as well as between siblings. But that’s pretty much it.
But of course, the High Septon at the time (a Hightower) deemed this marriage inappropriate, and proposed a different bride for Maegor. His own niece, Ceryse Hightower (how convenient). Not to mention that Ceryse was 23, and Maegor was 13 at the time. Talk about inappropriate.
When Maegor usurped his nephew, Aegon the Uncrowned, I don’t remember the High Septon/Faith protesting in any way. Why should they when Ceryse Hightower would be crowned Queen of the Seven Kingdoms? It was only after the Faith/the Hightowers sensed that Ceryse’s position as Queen was vulnerable that they began to question Maegor.
When it was pretty much confirmed that Ceryse was barren, Maegor decided to take another wife in the customs of Old Valyria. The High Septon refused to annul his first marriage, tried to make Ceryse fertile and failed. There were obvious grounds for annulment, but how could the Hightowers accept to have Ceryse put aside in favor of another? No, that won’t do. After Maegor took a third wife, the Hightowers continued to insist that Ceryse was his true Queen and demanded that he return to her.
But wouldn’t you know it…the Hightowers became lenient, and Ceryse eventually accepted Maegor’s other wives on the condition that she gets all the rights, incomes, privileges and status of being the lawful Queen. So, eventually the Hightowers said “Screw this. Leave it alone. It’s fine.” when it comes to Maegor’s polygamous marriages because they got something in return - Ceryse as Queen. Sound familiar?
Exactly as seen in the Dance of the Dragons, the Hightowers use their religion, the traditional Andal customs, and righteous attitude only when it suits them, when they can use them to gain power. And whenever these things don’t get them what they want, they conveniently forget/ignore them (the Hightowers’ sudden acceptance of Maegor’s polygamous marriages or Otto Hightower ignoring centuries of tradition by supporting Rhaenyra as heir when it suited him. Oh, and let’s not forget Alicent marrying her son to her own daughter after hypocritically condemning the Targaryen customs).
The Targaryens may have their faults, but they actually did a lot of good for the Realm. Before them, Westeros was divided in seven separate kingdoms who always had beef with one another. There was a lack of stability and order, and the smallfolk were completely neglected. Their dynasty produced some of the finest monarchs such as Jaehaerys I, Viserys II, Daeron II. As hard as it was, they succeeded in holding seven kingdoms together for many years.
The succession crisis and the civil wars could have happened to any family in power. The Targaryens didn’t start them, and weren’t the cause of them. It’s just the way things are. Proof of that is the succession crisis which followed Robert’s death, when Westeros’ ruling House was Baratheon.
What good have the Hightowers done for the Realm? What good have they done for the smallfolk? They hide behind their religion and believe that they are better than everyone else for it, when in fact their hunger for power is just as great, maybe even greater.

I don't really know what messages young people in this country absorb about the Civil War these days.
When I was a kid the mainstream centrist narrative, one that I think was pushed in schools and was definitely pushed in pop culture, went something like this:
"We modern people understand that slavery was wrong. But it is a mistake to judge the people of past times based on modern psychology or morals; rather, we must understand them as people of their times, who understood their world in a way fundamentally differently then we do, so far in the future.
"During the late 18th and early 19th century, slavery was simply not a very important issue, either morally or politically, and it certainly didn't play into the civil war in any real important fashion. The idea of slavery as a moral issue is a modern-day viewpoint, and while it is morally correct, we simply cannot project those moral sensibilities back into a world where they didn't exist.
"The Civil War was a fought as the culmination of a complex, somewhat abstruse political debate about whether power should reside primarily in separate states or within the federal government, and while it is tragic that this debate caused a war, both sides of that debate had valid reasons for taking their position."
Do they still teach that kind of thing to kids these days?
Because the more I learn the more I realize what incredible horseshit that story was.
Here, for example, is John Quincy Adams, in 1838:
"Midway through the filibuster, on June 30, Adams responded to an interruption by South Carolina representative Francis Wilkinson Pickens and described a notorious incident from the previous year.
I do not doubt in the least that he is, himself, a kind and indulgent master; so, I doubt not, are all the gentlemen who represent his State on this floor. They know not the horrors that belong to the system, and attend it even in their own State; and when they are stated by those who have witnessed them, he calls the whole a tissue of misrepresentation. . . . He does not know the profligate villain who procreates children from his slaves, and then sells his own children as slaves. He does not know the crushing and destruction of all the tenderest and holiest ties of nature which that system produces, but which I have seen, with my own eyes, in this city of Washington. Twelve months have not passed since a woman, in this District, was taken with her four infant children, and separated from her husband, who was a free man, to be sent away, I know not where. That woman, in a dungeon in Alexandria, killed with her own hand two of her children, and attempted to kill the others. She was tried for murder, and, to the honor of human nature I say it, a jury was not to be found in the District who would find her guilty. . . . The woman was asked how she could perpetrate such an act, for she had been a woman of unblemished character and of pious sentiments. She replied that wrong had been done to her and to them; that she was entitled to her freedom though she had been sold to go to Georgia and that she had sent her children to a better world.
I recommend clicking through that link and reading about what Adams said about that case in his diary.
In general, that website, Story of The Week, has a number of excellent and readable primary sources about slavery and racism in America, and they particularly demonstrate that the Abolition movement objected to slavery for exactly the reasons that we now object to it today: That it was unspeakably cruel to separate children from their mothers and husbands from wives; that men should be allowed to profit from their own work, rather than having the proceeds stolen; that slave owners would rape their female slaves and sell their own children.
I'm just amazed at how much energy America has put into lying to itself about its own history.

I was wondering, what sort of title would the Aeslin mice give to a non-binary member of the extended Price family? Presumably it would be neither god nor priestess. Sage? Luminary? Exemplar? Divinity? Saint? Prophet? in any case i would imagine that it would be a topic of much debate among them until they came to a resolution.
We don’t know!
This question comes up periodically, and that’s the answer every time, because until it happens in the series, it won’t be determined.  The mice don’t really understand human gender: their naming framework is based off what they learned from Caroline Carew, who was more pious than any of the modern Prices.  She felt that wives couldn’t be above their husbands, hence “Priestess” instead of “Goddess.”
When it comes out, we’ll figure it out.  Until then, I can’t say “oh it would be X,” because the canon isn’t set, and I try not to change my answers after they’re given.

all in a night’s work
It was a quiet night on the Geldstraat, though most of them were. The buttoned up merchers and their pious wives and obedient children all tucked away in bed. But most of Ketterdam had not laid their head for the night, including two dark figures flat on their bellies on a roof, overlooking the mansions and canal that ran like ink in the starless night. — or, Kaz and Inej on a stakeout. Kaz is casing the Van Eck mansion to steal a painting by a certain famous artist. Inej is casing, well, him. Pining ensues. Pre-SOC/Shadow and Bone TV

Isn’t it funny that so many people always seem to accept the least flattering/sympathetic rumors in F&B as pure truth?
Someone made the claim to me that Aenys was a bastard, and not in the “according to Westerosi norms Rhaenys was Aegon’s mistress” way. Not that I agree with that claim (hello, I’m a Targaryen fan) but at least that argument highlights the hypocrisy of the nobles and the Faith. Nope, this person believes Rhaenys (maliciously) passed off a minstrel’s son as Aegon’s.
Obviously I’ve heard many people discuss this rumor, and I never thought much of it because nothing in the book convinced me it was true. I’ve always thought Aenys was Aegon’s actual son (and also Maegor wasn’t a dark magic baby). Tbh though… I liked the idea of Rhaenys living her best life, Aegon being totally cool about his wife having lovers, and, as a fantasy enjoyer, magic babies sounds awesome. I just think there’s a more boring explanation.
So there are several reasons people question Aenys’ parentage. Rhaenys spending lots of time in the company of other men, the time it took for her to conceive (and Visenya, too, but I’ll get to her later). This, of course, also puts into question Aegon’s fertility (which is interesting, usually the women get blamed) but it could also put into question the legitimacy of their sons’ claim to the throne. At the time and with the dragons, that doesn’t really have an impact. Aenys was accepted as king, and even Maegor was accepted by far more of the lords than most fans credit (out of fear and self preservation, of course, but still).
Another thing that comes up is Aenys being weak af while Aegon wasn’t, so how could he be his son? I’m not going to spend time on that shitty argument when Viserys I was the son of Baelon and Alyssa lol
I don’t find the “better” reasons for this rumor that convincing either. As always, this is imo, so take it with a grain of salt.
As to Rhaenys keeping the “company of other males,” I like to keep in mind the F&B sources are pretty obviously condemning her for this based on their own morals. These aren’t exactly people inclined to think well of women that don’t behave “dutifully.”
Rhaenys could literally have enjoyed that company platonically. She liked frivolity, why wouldn’t she befriend entertaining people? She and Aegon and Visenya weren’t committed to all the same morals as their subjects (GRRM himself said the conquerors converted to the Faith of the Seven for political reasons), so they could just be… chill about things the rest of Westeros found strange or condemnable? That’s not to say Aegon would be cool with Rhaenys passing off someone else’s child as his own—I’m sorry, I don’t think even the Valyrians were that open-minded. But compared to the pious and judgmental dorks that wrote about him, Aegon could possibly… trust his sister-wives around other men? Shocking amirite.
I’m not sure why I should trust the sources on this rumor. Why would I assume they’d even be able to understand their rulers—in a realistic manner if not sympathetic one? And how could they understand the relationship the conquerors had? Ya know, plural marriage, women riding dragons and going to war, sitting the throne, ruling in Aegon’s stead. I have serious doubts they would be able to assess women of this caliber with much rationality tbh. It’s not that I think every single thing they say is false, but I do think they’d miss and misread things because of their biases and worldview. Like I’m pretty sure if Rhaenys smiled too long at a minstrel, they’d assume she banged him.
But it’s not actually that important if Rhaenys had lovers or not. If she did, it didn’t matter to the people she was in a relationship with, they never doubted Aenys’ parentage, so I’m on board whatever the truth may be.
However, I think the timeline for her conceiving Aenys is a shit reason to claim she “cuckolded” Aegon. I mean, sure, it took her a long time. And there could be no other reason for that but her infertility, or Aegon’s, and so she must’ve had another man’s child, right? Actually, there’s a pretty simple explanation imo.
I know this is going to sound crazy but… maybe they didn’t want heirs until the conquest was over lmao
This isn’t a “lord secures an heir before going to war” situation. This isn’t pregnant Catelyn safe in her father’s castle or Winterfell while Ned is at war. If the conquest failed, slim chance though that was, the Targaryen heirs would be slaughtered. They didn’t have a bunch of kin or hordes of blindly loyal bannermen. They wouldn’t have had dragons, either, unless they could claim their (in this scenario) dead parents’ dragons before they, too, were assassinated, and considering they’d be quite young, this seems incredibly unlikely.
People seem to forget Visenya, Aegon, and Rhaenys weren’t twiddling their thumbs before the conquest. They planned it for at least a few years, they knew exactly the danger they’d be in, let’s give them some credit here. Plus Aegon spent some time fighting in Essos at the end of the Century of Blood. Why wouldn’t they put heirs on pause for a bit?
It’s not like things were stable in year 1 AC lmao in 2 AC they were dealing with the Ironborn, 4 AC was Dorne etc. They were *busy* establishing a whole ass kingdom from a bunch of petty kingdoms that were used to warring with each other every year. I imagine it was a ton of work 😂
Then Aenys was born in 7 AC, likely conceived in 6 AC. Maybe Rhaenys struggled to get pregnant, maybe they waited, maybe a combination of both. It just doesn’t seem odd to me that heirs came post-conquest. In fact, it seems perfectly reasonable.
So why did Visenya wait to have Maegor until 12 AC? If I was a maester, I’d tell you the poor thing failed in her duty as a woman, that she desperately wanted children but couldn’t. To be fair, this could be the case (not the duty part, but maybe she did want a baby and struggled with infertility. We know she loved Maegor dearly after all).
But let me posit an alternative. This concept may be difficult for some, but… what if she didn’t actually want children? I know, another shocking interpretation lmao
Here’s a scenario I concocted that seems plausible. What if Visenya, Aegon, and Rhaenys agreed that Rhaenys would be the one to have children? What if—and I know this is a wild thought—they had some awareness of the potential dangers of having heirs from two wives, of essentially creating two lines that could come into conflict? Visenya did suggest a betrothal between Maegor and Rhaena after all. I’m sure she wanted her son to have the crown, and she definitely thought Aenys was a weakling, but she could’ve also wanted to unite hers and Rhaenys’ lines to avoid conflict. I think these are reasonable considerations.
I tend to view these characters as relatively rational actors. Their other actions add credence to this, like Rhaenys establishing the rule of six. Do I wish she outlawed wife beating? Yes. Do I think she chose a practical solution with a better chance of being accepted by the nobles that would offer women more protection than they had before? Also yes. What I’m saying is, instead of minstrel orgies and dark magic babies, I tend to lean toward practical explanations.
So back to why Visenya had Maegor so late… Rhaenys’ dies in 10 AC. Visenya and Aegon burn Dorne for 2 years in retaliation. Visenya gets pregnant with Maegor in 11 AC and has him in 12.
What if she was concerned that the dynasty had only a single sickly child to sustain it? Aenys could’ve died in his young age, his health only improved when he bonded with Quicksilver. The continuation of House Targaryen had to rely entirely upon *him.* It makes sense to me that *this* is when Visenya bit the bullet and had a child. It’s even possible Aegon was just as concerned. We can’t know for sure, but would it be surprising considering the circumstances?
At the very least, I find the timing of Maegor’s birth pretty convenient, and the best explanation for me is that after Rhaenys’ death, Visenya (and possibly Aegon) knew they needed a spare, and that spare would have to come from her.
Anyway, I’m completely aware that I’ve spent way too much time thinking about this 😂

Hello! I’m a fan of the Alysanne Maegor-Daughter AU!
I wanted to ask what headcanons you have about the women around Alysanne. Her mother, grandmother, ladies in waiting of the court, her Septa, Maegor’s other wives, etc. Female relationships are a bit lacking in ASOIAF. I hope Alysanne has friends.
I know GRRM took some inspiration from Henry VIII for Maegor’s wives, but sometimes it’s a little hard to see? Ceryse’s definitely Catherine of Aragon. So I imagine her to be well-educated, pious, and a have a strong bond with her daughter. With the other wives it’s a little more surface level stuff connecting them to RL figures.
I'll focus mainly on Ceryse, because she's the one I've thought about the most.
I imagine Ceryse as being highly intelligent and highly opinionated. A woman of culture and learning who can talk circles around most people, including her in-laws.
Given the fact Ceryse is ten years older than Maegor I also imagine she didn't put up with his shenanigans and made it very clear from the beginning she wasn't afraid of him, which I honestly think would have impressed him as much as it would have infuriated him. (There is no doubt in my mind Maegor would have bragged about marrying an older woman.)
Beyond that, I imagine Ceryse as being both very proud (or haughty according to Alyssa Velaryon) and very pious (or zealous again according to Alyssa Velaryon), two traits she would very much inculcate in her daughter and only child. ("You are the blood of Old Valyria AND Oldtown. Dragons bend to your will just as the Citadel and the Starry Sept bend to my father, your grandfather. Don't ever forget that, Alysanne. And don't you EVER let anyone else forget that either.")
Finally, I imagine Ceryse as being very adept when it comes to matters of etiquette and propriety (not unlike Alicent in the future). To use a description I came up with for one of the queens in my discarded epic fantasy setting, The Gray Compendium, "she wields courtesy like a lance and woe to the fool who dares to tilt with her."
I imagine, like Catherine of Aragon, Alysanne was close to her mother and that, by extension, she hated her father's other wives (though the bulk of said hatred would be reserved for Alys Harroway and Tyanna).
I also imagine Ceryse would not fail to surround Alysanne with a court and ladies-in-waiting of her own, as much to give her daughter a support system as to one-up Alyssa Velaryon. Naturally, some of those ladies-in-waiting would be daughters of Hightower vassals or personal friends of Ceryse. (The Velaryons and Hightowers being rivals throughout Targaryen history with the Baratheons occasionally shoving their way in-between is one of my dearer alterations to canon.)
Ceryse would definitely leave behind a treasure trove of correspondence for historians (down with the Citadel's monopoly!) to sift through. (I wouldn't be surprised if Ceryse' septa or even Alysanne herself wrote a biography of Ceryse's life.)
Ceryse and Visenya would have a...queer relationship. (Queer in the original sense of the word.) You wouldn't expect them to get along but they do, even if it isn't exactly the warmest of family ties.
Ceryse HATES Alys Harroway. Part of it is the whole polygamy issue but another aspect I imagine is that Alys and Ceryse are polar opposites with little to nothing in common. Ceryse' idea of comedy is a witty word pun or an obscure bit of religious/historical trivia, Alys' bawdy tavern jokes, the cruder the better. When Ceryse wants to display annoyance or anger her voice drops an octave, Alys will shout at the top of her lungs. Whereas Ceryse always maintains a certain amount of distance (befitting her station in her mind) Alys freely mingles with people of lower rank, even (*gasp*) smallfolk. You won't ever catch Ceryse eating with her hands or breaking a nail but Alys will gather firewood for soldiers on the march and bandage their wounds. On the other hand, Ceryse is the kind of person who prefers to keep her charity secret. Indeed, I imagine what drew Maegor's eye to Alys is that she has the same self-conviction as Ceryse while being otherwise completely different, a novelty Maegor obviously couldn't resist.
Ceryse FEARS Tyanna and for good reason. She sees Tyanna for what Tyanna is. The biggest threat to Alysanne (and Maegor).
I don't have much to say on Jeyne Westerling and Elinor Costayne other than that they both would have liked Alysanne and her them (after some initial frostiness of course).
Thanks for the question, anon

one thing is so many main stream islamic scholars like yasir qadi, noman ali khan, mufti menk, etc are surprisingly very progressive in terms of how they talk about women. i saw a globally famous sheikh do a QandA and someone asked him about marrying 4 wives at once. his answer was “are you stupid? this is pathetic.” and has advised against polygamy every time. another time a woman told him a man who wanted to propose to her asked her what her “body count” was. he said “this is extremely disrespectful to you and you should never talk to him again.” and i’ve rarely seen them police what women are doing and instead are constantly putting the responsibility on men to behave. and i can’t really wrap my head around the disconnect. if all the scholars are generally decent and good men, then why are so many muslim men continuing to be the exact opposite. is it so deeply engrained in the culture that not even the most pious and respected can change their minds?
meanwhile there’s a whole running joke on instagram about muslim male “podcasters” (all westerners) that talk solely about what women should do such as “you can’t wear a winter jacket over your abaya” and other stupid shit, and they have NO education or qualification to speak on it. to be a scholar you need like 10 years of schooling/a PhD in theology. it’s extremely sinful to preach without any knowledge.
anyway don’t offer insight if you don’t know what i’m talking about because it’s way too complicated for me to explain from the beginning and if no one knows what i’m saying then pretend i’m talking to myself
+ i’ve only observed all this because my dad leaves youtube on auto play blasting lectures full volume all evening so i’m forced to listen.

Wives of the primarchs AU, Aisha Aurelian - wife to Lorgar.
Tumblr media
AU tldr: Before even Horus was found, the Emperor and Malcador would have conversations about the Primarchs (what they would be like, how easily they would come to the Imperium, and of course the impending doom of the Heresy.) At one point, while the Emperor was speaking his worries of his son's tempers, Malcador suggested giving them wives. A good wife can keep a man in check, more so than his father or brothers.
The Emperor thought Malcador was joking at first, but as the Sigilite explained further, the Emperor realized he was serious. Instead of brushing off the Sigilite's words, the Emperor listened and allowed Malcador limited access to his genetech. Thus, each primarch was given a wife perfectly crafted to suit the ideals of himself and his home world's culture.
Aisha's faith was like that of no other, even amongst the Word Bearers. Her pure, pious soul inspired all those who surrounded her. She embodied all that was good about the faith; kind, charitable, loyal, patience, and trustworthy.
Initially, Aisha taught scripture to converts and recruits, this work satisfied her and earned her respect amongst the men of the legion - except for Kor Phaeron. She and Lorgar were able to ignore his harsh words, however, and keep a happy relationship. However after Monarchia, everything fell apart - Aisha was forbidden from seeing her husband and thus growing distant from him. When he returned and spoke to her of worshipping the Chaos Gods, she was disgusted and took it upon herself to change his ways. Despite her best attempts, Aisha failed in this endevour and watched as her once kind husband turned into a cruel master. Aisha died before the siege, sacrified by Kor Phaeron to ensure a Chaos victory.
I'm currently taking a break from writing, but I do plan on eventually starting again (there will be a post). But if you would like to read what's already been written, I shall direct you here. Https://archiveofourown.org/series/2698501.
This is just a short blurb for context. Please ask any and all questions!
