My Boyfriend is a Hero - One-Shot

I was playing Minecraft and had to semi-afk at my blaze farm so… I wrote a thing.

Was Pix a bit miffed his accountant boyfriend cancelled their date because of an 'important project'? Maybe he would be if he wasn't much more guilty of cancelling on Sausage multiple times when the work at the hospital kept him busier than expected. They both came to accept that their schedules were unreliable on the best days. The fact that Empires City was a home to multiple supervillains, vigilantes and heroes only served to make matters worse.

So Pix spend one of his rare evenings off work in front of his TV, with a bucket of popcorn, watching a movie. For it to be interrupted by news coverage of Sanctuary fighting some new villain. What kind of name was Orion? Even with that, he would not complain much. Sanctuary was one of his favourite heroes. Mostly because he always kept victims and destruction to the absolute minimum. Even with how destructive his own powers were.

In typical villain fashion, Orion was not at all concerned with civilians. Luckily Sanctuary was very good at protecting them. Much less himself... making Pix curl up, cringing at the increasing amount of scratches and wounds on the hero. He really hoped Sanctuary had someone good at first aid. Really good.

Pix was so worried that once the coverage was done he couldn't just sit still and had to make himself a calming cup of tea. Not that it had much chance to help. Not with a loud crash coming from his living room as Pix waited for the water to boil. Worried it might be the escaped villain Pix grabbed a rolling pin as he went to investigate the noise.

It was no villain. No, the opposite. On his couch, barely conscious was the hero Sanctuary. Bleeding and beaten up but still breathing. And with his mask off...

"Sausage?" Pix asked, dropping the rolling pin and quickly closing the distance. His mind was racing with million questions but he didn't bother asking them, instead going right to checking others' wounds. "Stay awake, no sleeping," Pix tried to not be too stern as he gently shook the hero - his boyfriend.

"Pix... I got in the wrong window... Sorry..." Sausage apologised before coughing a lot. "Just give me a second and I'll be..."

"No. You'll sit here and stay awake while I tend to all of these," Pix stopped him and ran off to grab his first aid kit.

As he treated Sausage - after getting his tattered shirt off with minor protests from the hero, Pix stopped any attempts Sausage made at explaining himself. That could wait a little bit.

"I'm going to be fine now," Sausage eventually put some more force into stopping Pix's fretting. "I'm already feeling better, I heal quite fast, don't worry," Sausage smiled, much more softly and less hero-like as he gently grabbed Pix's wrists. "I'm really okay, and once again, sorry about cancelling our date..." he added and placed a few gentle kisses on Pix's knuckles. "I'll understand if you want to break..."

"Why would I do that? I might be a bit sad you didn't tell me but... it's not like we were dating that long and secret identities are important to heroes... Just come to me next time a villain beats you up... okay?" Pix stopped him. He was not going to be angry Sausage chose the safety of the city over him. Not today, not ever. "You can stay the night if you want... I should have something that should fit you," he offered, hoping Sausage said yes.

He did, and while Sausage called the friend he was supposed to visit, Pix dug through his wardrobe for some clothes he once ordered online and came at least a size too big for him.

Sausage wasn't kidding he was a good cook. He insisted on making dinner for them to thank Pix for his help. Pix was delegated to saying what's where and making tea. He wasn't complaining, mostly because somehow none of the shirts he found fit Sausage. And Pix wasn't that much smaller than him. Sausage was just ridiculously buff, what usually was hidden by his button-up accountant shirts.

After a great meal, they sat and watched some TV. Bandages didn't make Sausage any less great to cuddle with. Pix didn't even notice when he fell asleep but waking up on a weekend and seeing Sausage's face first thing in the morning was a great change from his usual morning routine.

2023 go to hell

I think 2023 was one of the most difficult years of my life. Like really. It's been very hard to deal with my mother, she is growing old, she is becoming a stubborn, she is becoming very reactive...Sometimes I feel stuck at home and I can't do things for me. I feel very dependent of her and she is now sometimes delegating some work for me instead of her doing by herself. (Like, answer her messages for her while she is driving), (like not making dinner but expecting me to clean the kitchen).. and this is not the worst thing....

In January of this year, I lost a friend of mine, a the donnaholic fan. She was the coolest girl ever. She passed away very young and I never could imagine she could die so early. Then, my idol Rita Lee has passed away, my idol Kaija Saariaho passed away.

In January a physio therapist very young asked what I was doing and I said I was a writter and she was like "do you carry your books in the bag?" and I said "no" and she was like..."I wanna see it. How you'll sell it if you dont carry with you?" and she spend days saying this. One day I brought to her the book. She took the book and said: Later on you tell me your pix (bank account). And I was like....??????? After a month, she didnt pay me and the service of my physio therapy was becoming poorly done. She changed her schedule and was no longer my therapist...And didnt pay me until I made a complaining in the company.

March: My dog died.

I started a job in a small restaurant with some jerky people. At the time, I didn't know they were jerks. I was supposed to be the attendent. The son of my boss "taught" me to use ONE phone to deliver people menu of the day. And I did my best but in the end of the day, his brother yelled at me indirectly because his brother didn't mention there was a SECOND phone I should look at. (a smartphone with app requests). When I told the boss that he didnt mention, she said..."If there is a phone there, you should look!" But I dont look at other people's phones without permission!

I got fired 2 days later. Received 80 $

Then, I met this influencer and he was very nice and in his social medias he asked for one of my books. I GAVE to him one of my books through mail and with a fast shipping. And after I sent to him, he asked again "where is my book?" and I was like "I Sent it to you" and after that he didnt say anything. I was very disappointed because I was expecting for him to read my book and he didnt even received or said anything. The book is lost.

I started to have weekly constipation intestine pains. Feeling I was gonna die... Until a couple weeks I was still having. I can't eat poorly.

Matthew Perry passed away. One of my biggest crushes and idols. I never cried so hard for a celebrity. For days.

Since november I don't have a cellphone. First, was my Samsung S8....Died after 5 years. And then my small phone of music only. My Samsung Galaxy whatever from 2013. Was my first modern cellphone. It only worked because I put alot of memory on it and alot of mp3 music. (There was no spotify back then). And now I dont have cellphone.... Because I dont have any money to buy a new one. Not even my mother. She has a crazy Xiaomi and doesnt work very well. (when you listen to music, it works one ear only). Today a friend of her gave her a 2013 phone for her to use but its old that I dont know if its going to work.

So, christmas there probably have no presents...And just meeting with family like okay.

PS: Its been a year since my crush moved out to another state. Not only a crush. a Great friend of mine. He has been so sweet to me. And he gave me THE BEST gift I could ever receive from someone. And thats why I feel a good thing about liking him. Because he is nice and he is gentle, generous. I am very lucky to have meet him. Very lucky. Very blessed. I am always afraid he will get tired of me. But I know that I won't be never tired of him. Thats what I am focus right now. Also, he taught me how love can be light and sweet. It just clean all my awful parents references. I am thankful for that too. Honestly, I HATE the fact he is away. And sometimes I'm afraid that I am feeling all these loving by myself. But its ok I guess.

So, no wonder I tried to k'1ll myself a couple times this year. I was always fetching a knive, putting against my belly or throat when I was alone. But some how I always gave up. I always stayed.

Chapter 1: What the....?

We arrived at the Erbil airport. I was shocked at the passport line. Absolutely every woman was entirely covered, except for her face, and was very overweight. I thought you could wear regular clothes!! And how can they be overweight with all this fresh food they supposedly have??

We were met by Azad, a former Nashvillian and organizer of this whole production, and a handsomely dressed man named Omid, who I discovered was actually a Peshmerga, (Kurdish military). I came to call him my “personal pesh“. We were whisked off in a sleek black car to the VIP reception area where a gorgeous receiving room awaited us. Of course they offered us tea– tea is offered at every meeting and you take it and you either drink it or not but you take the cup that they offer you. The news media had just descended upon this delegation and interviewed the mayor… This was a harbinger of the media attention we were to receive.

So the fact that I was about the only woman in the airport in regular clothes was a little unnerving, not what I expected. That paled in comparison, however, to the armed guards awaiting us as we pulled into our hotel. What in the world have I gotten myself into? As Jack said, you’re glad to see the arm guards at the hotel, but it’s also unnerving that they have to be there.

My initial impression of the city was not of a “pretty“ city. Except for tons of roses at the airport, it was dry, there were old storefronts with wires strung haphazardly, some buildings were half built or abandoned, traffic was chaotic and unordered, and those darn mini-split AC compressors plastered all over the outside of all the buildings are so unattractive. Reminded me a lot of Israel and Jordan. We were in old Erbil, and it showed. There is an ancient architectural treasure here, the Citadel, but so far the architecture did not stun. But our hotel was very nice and our group convened and we started our excellent adventure together with our first Kurdish dinner. The food was excellent and fresh and I loved it! My first “bite” of Erbil was indeed wonderful even though that drive in from the airport wasn’t Chamber of Commerce material.

Here is what the treaty does – and doesn’t do.

1. Coal-fired plants, boilers and smelters Nations must require best available emission-control technologies on new power plants, boilers and smelters, but they do not have to require them on older plants. Instead, they can take other steps for existing plants, such as emissions targets.

2. Light bulbs Compact fluorescent bulbs of 30 watts or less will be banned by 2020 if they exceed 5 milligrams of mercury. Certain other halo-phosphate and fluorescent lamps also will be banned by 2020.

3. Mercury mining Primary mining for mercury will be banned. Mercury mines already in operation can continue for 15 years and then will be banned.

4. Gold mining Mercury will be allowed in artisanal and small-scale gold mining, where it is used to separate gold from rocks and sediment. The treaty encourages nations to reduce or phase out its use, but no targets or dates are included. Recent studies have documented that people in communities near artisanal mining areas in Peru and Brazil are highly exposed to mercury.

5. Dental fillings Dental fillings are exempt from the 2020 ban. Countries agree to a phasedown of mercury in fillings by promoting alternatives, creating dental programs to minimize the need for fillings or taking other steps.

6. Vaccines Vaccines that use mercury compounds (thimerosal) as a preservative are exempt.

7. Batteries Mercury-containing batteries will be banned by 2020. An exception is button-cell batteries used in implantable medical devices.

8. Switches and relays Switches and relays containing mercury will be banned by 2020.

9. Soaps and cosmetics Soaps and cosmetics containing more than 1 part per million of mercury will be banned by 2020. Mascara and other eye-area cosmetics are exempt because of concerns that there are no safe substitutes.

10. Medical devices Certain medical and monitoring devices – including barometers, thermometers, hygrometers, manometers and blood pressure monitors – will be banned by 2020.

11. Religious, traditional activities Mercury used in religious or traditional ceremonies are exempt from the treaty.

12. Manufacturing Mercury will be banned from chlor-alkali production and acetaldehyde production in 2025 and 2018, respectively. Manufacturing of polyurethane, vinyl chloride monomer and sodium or potassium methylate or ethylate are exempt although emissions must be reduced.

The Minamata Convention will go into effect 90 days after it has been ratified by at least 50 nations, which is expected to take several years. To ratify it, the nations first must enact their own domestic laws.

The treaty does not focus much on the emission levels nor does it specify any threshold for emissions but in the regulations.

Objectives of Minamata Convention on Quicksilver Emissions (including Obligations of Signatories):

1. To protect the human health and environment from anthropogenic emissions and release of Hydrargyrum and its compounds.

2. To find the alternative of the use of Azoth

3. To control the emissions and release of Quicksilver and its compound to air, land and water.

4. Regulation of the informal sector of artisanal and small-scale gold mining.

Environmental Issues & Conventions

Significance of Minamata Convention on Hydrargyrum

1. It is important because it is one of the components of sustainable development agenda as its objective is to human health and environment from anthropogenic emissions and releases of mercury and mercury compounds.

2. This convention strongly addresses the interim storage of mercury and its disposal once it becomes waste, sites contaminated by mercury as well as health issues.

3. It addresses the harmful effects of mercury on human health and environment.

4. It protects the developmental space of third world countries.

5. It strongly advocates for the finding of the alternative of mercury and its compound or supports the act finding of non-quicksilver technologies in manufacturing processes.

This follow-up Quicksilver Poisoning of Water by Mining-Industry is urgent. Why? Because the problem is still handled by the politicians in Ghana, like a glowing-hot ball: they throw it always to someone else... (like me)I cite (and you click) an article of the Ghana-star:

I stress here, that to my knowledge NO law in Ghana has been promulgated, incorporating above-mentioned Ratification, to-date. An argument used by the Ghana Standard Board to keep those standards 'private'. Meanwhile, Ghana is listed (Sept. 2020) as the 7th (anno 9th November 2021: the 5th) Gold Producing Country. China still topping the list ... For this reason I hold the politicians (MP's) indiscriminately responsible for the results of Mercury poisoning AND for non-compliance of Minamata-convention on Azoth poisoning in the Western Region.

Why? Two legal reasons:

1. there is to my knowledge (which I ONLY derive from public statements) NO incorporation of the above-mentioned ratification in Ghana Law. But the second argument is even far stronger.

2. In the post about the Health Effects of Illegal Mining (on https://irrigateafrica.link), I strongly advised the Government of Ghana to use a legal instrument (to my knowledge the best available):

- LAW-ENFORCED EXTRACTION OF MINERALS BY NON-TOXIC METHODS,

- WHICH ARE EVEN MORE COST-EFFECTIVE THAN WITH MERCURY/CYANIDE, AND

- HAVING BENEFICIAL SIDE-EFFECTS,

- REDUCTION OF CONTAMINATION BY ARSENIC AND LEAD, CAUSED BY

- REDUCTION IN USE OF WATER!!

Since you are aware of the effects of Mercury (extensive scientific literature abound on the internet, at least since 2010 - a statistical report of the Cape-Coast University in Ghana): you are

- not only political responsible for non-acting, but

- complicit as well (with suspect involvement in the Mercury and gold-mining business).
