It's funny seeing people say that "we would have all joined Luke" with every new episodes that comes out that shows how awful the Gods are as parents when the point of the books and Percy is that Luke WAS right but he chose the wrong way to do things. Luke joined another evil to punish the Gods, betrayed his friends and basically only family and caused them pain and even the death of some of them.
Percy said fuck the Gods but he was against sacrificing others senselessly. He still hated how tings were but he fought so he could make changes in a positive direction instead of burning everything and everyone in his way.
So of course Luke was justified in his hate for the Gods and the way they carelessly abandoned and ignored their children, we have always known that. Percy always agreed to that. But in the end Luke himself realized he was wrong in how he tried to change that.

headcanon that rachel accidentally becomes the camps guidance counselor:
when she gets her little oracle cave at camp after TLO, one newer camper gets confused and thinks that she’s a new guidance counselor/ therapist hired for the campers after the war.
at first rachel just thinks that the campers just see her as a safe person to talk to, and being mortal and all, she’s slightly distanced from demigod drama
but eventually it becomes non stop and she’s super confused and people keep on telling her secrets and it’s all wayyy too above her pay grade

BOTL thoughts/thoughts on this scene adapted to our screens: (long-ish text/thought post/rant below the cut!)
I don't think I'm ready to see Annabeth sob her heart out. And see her be a complete mess because she had just lost her brother, her family, and for the longest time, her best friend ... to Kronos. This scene was so annoying and gut wrenching to read because of how much flak Percy gave Annabeth; questioning why she was defending him when she already told him she still felt a connection to Luke. And her feelings were justified! He was the only family she'd known for a while; and that kind of kinship/connection doesn't go away instantly. It just felt like Annabeth was so so alone in this entire scene (arguably, botl in its entirety). I've seen some readers chalk it up to Percy's own confusion as a way to gloss over the fact that he chose to ignore his friend's (someone he actually felt a strong connection to) feelings. However, it's scenes like these that remind me of the impact of the plot changes they made in the TV show. Personally, I don't see Percy reacting like this when we've seen him in Asphodel trying to save Annabeth, refusing to let Annabeth sacrifice herself (2!), and most of all— SEEING Annabeth save him from Luke in episode 8. He knows what kind of sacrifice she gave by consequentially choosing him over the family she'd grown up with. He may not fully grasp it but he had to have had a sense (in the very least).
Rereading this moment, It definitely seems like he is only thinking of Kronos and nothing else; Annabeth's reaction to seeing the titan taking over Luke's body is collateral. He moves on, he let's her cry (again, this felt so inconsistent with what we've seen with previous percabeth— book and series-wise) and just ... talks to/makes conversation with Rach as if nothing had happened at all. He circles back to her, yes, but there's no sign of acknowledgement, attempt at comfort, or support. He apologizes because they need to move, and it ends there.

Michael not liking to be touched by people outside his siblings and few rare others.
When he started getting close to Jake, Jake become one those that Michael was more comfortable with physical contact
Also meaning Michael very much started to want physical contact from Jake.
It felt wierd for him. Being hugged or hugging his little siblings is one thing. But wanting the same with Jake was entirely different.
Jake of course respected Michael's usual boundaries of no contact, and Michael was too stubborn to actually ask for the contact he wanted.
He would occasionally grab for Jake's hands or arms, but he never did much else. Even after they first started dating.
It wasn't until one night he had overworked himself to point of getting sick.
Jake had caught him a fevered mess in the infirmary one night and had tried to help him back to his cabin.
But Michael's legs gave out from under him, and Jake had to carry him to one of the cots.
He had went to move away after he had placed Michael down when Michael immediately grabbed his arm, making a soft noise of complaint. He wouldn't let go until Jake moved to lay beside him in the cot, letting the small son of Apollo feverishly nuzzle into his arms.
Both had fell asleep there, waking up not too long after by Lee who had came looking for Michael.
Lee did not let it go for the rest of the week, that's for sure.
After that Jake was a bit more cuddly with Michael when he got the chance. Michael would try to act annoyed but he would always lean right into it. He very much enjoyed his overly cuddly boyfriend, even if he tried to pretend he didn't.
"You have to run your hands through my hair?"
"You're practically purring like a cat."
"Shut up."
I love them, the sillies

The episode was amazing again yesterday, though I didn't notice something until today. Poseidon was the one who told Hermes not to meet with Luke, so maybe Hermes was trying to help Poseidon not make the same mistake he did by meeting Percy. He purposely walked Percy and Annabeth to that table knowing full well that Poseidon was waiting for his son thinking that their father and son talk would end up like his own (like seriously, there's no way they didn't hear Percy praying to Sally), but he knew Poseidon wouldn't listen to him. That is until Percy brought up meeting his dad himself. That's what got him to spill about the time slip. That's what got him to leave them that letter about making it to the underworld. The damage had already been done, but still he knew that those two would not end up like him and Luke.

Something something I've forgotten where I end and where you start. I want to be near you, I need to be near you. When I look at you I see all the years we've lived together and all the years we'll live together from here on out. I trust you so much it scares me. You trust me so much it scares me. We've been through everything imaginable. We've ran away together and we've bandaged each other up after a fight. Looking at you in the wrong lighting triggers panic attacks. Looking at you in the right lighting makes me feel safer than I'll ever truly be. I love you. You love me. Nothing else matters.

Saw people talk about the fact that the trio knows every single threat they have to face before they have to confront them in the show vs in the books they actually fall into traps and then have to find a way to escape it.
This is one of the main issues i have too honestly. I understand the choice of making annabeth pick up on the statues and the name of the place and obviously guess "oh that is medusa". It works bc medusa is important and connected to her mother and like the context clues are staggering.
But comparing that moment to the start of episode 7 (which i actually really enjoyed especially compared to ep6) makes the show lose most of the tension they could have.
Like why make it an immediate exposition dump on "oh you are this and you do that and we are here for this and that" i don't mind the change of making the shop the entrance of hell but why can't they just for once fall into a trap like? They are 12 years old trying to avoid a war and fix a situation way bigger than them, they are smart and quick witted but let them make mistakes and NOT KNOW some things.
I feel like a lot of the potential of the first scene went out of the window and it just became a "here's an exposition of a scene that happened in the book" and that way even if you cut it you don't lose anything really.
Changes are a GOOD thing and that is not my issue with the show at all! I have already said that I mostly enjoy the changes that were made and I am not expecting nor want a scene for scene copy but it does make it a lot less interesting imo if they go into EVERY SINGLE SITUATION knowing what they are up against for no real reason.
You can have them know some things and guess who they are up against but like if it happens every time the tension of the danger gets lost a lot and it becomes repetitive imo.
On the good side of things tho I think you can see in general that the trio has gotten a lot more comfortable in the characters and the improvement it's very visible. I already said how I really love the casting and I only expect them to get better at portraying the characters that is a no brainer.
The flash backs were probably my favorite part of the episode along with the way they decided to visually represent Hell.
I love that we get to see a peak of Sally and Poseidon's dynamic and how hard it was for Sally to raise Percy, not only bc of the risks his godly heritage brings but also bc she was a single mother and society in general tends to give up on people that don't fit the mold.
Small Percy thinking his mom wanted to get rid of him and saying "I would never do that to you" even tho she has spent every moment doing her best to protect him vs an older Percy having to choose to leave his mom behind so he can do the right thing even tho everything he has done has been fueled by the desire to save her. That was beautiful and tragic.
Casting in general is incredible bc even with the little we saw of Poseidon (I knew the actor from black sails so I knew he would be great) I think he really nailed it.
Hades is maybe a BIT too silly but I can live with it honestly. Like we'll have time to explore and make other characters deeper later on so i don't see this as an issue.
The decision to make them aware of Kronos and tell Hades is interesting and I do like that he offered to protect Percy if he believed to be at risk.
I understand that with how things are now you never know if a show will be renewed and if you'll get to actually finish your story so I don't mind them making certain stuff known sooner and sprinkling references to future events or call backs (MOA percabeth reference I am talking abt you).
Overall I think that the strongest suit of the show right now is the cast and the way they show characters dynamics and their potential.
Like I have said before my criticism stems from my love for the material and my wish for it to do well. I have opinions that maybe will not match with others and it's okay! Not everyone has to like something! I WANT the show to keep going and grow and evolve into a better adaptation with each step because I really love the basis they laid down, the story and the characters and I see the potential most of all. I can't wait for the last episode.

“How is 12 year old Annabeth head of the Athena cabin??”
1. Demi gods have the life expectancy of a lemming.
2. Gifted kids often burn out by age 16 & I doubt any of the Athena teens have the energy or desire to argue with their little sister who willingly takes care of all the family paperwork.
