Those dpd flags have a cultural symbol on them....it looks like the amazigh people....

Did you mean the BPD flags? That's hand of Eris (⯰), which is a planetary symbol (common to all cultures), different from yaz letter (ⵣ), though both are similar.

Spoilers for Sparkle and Black Swan's companion mission in 2.0!!

Sorry, Black Swan and Sparkle fans, im only here to talk about Sampo here.

More specifically, the end of the quest, where he and Sparkle are having a conversation.

The whole mask thing aside, they talk about Jarilo-VI, too. And it just makes me think..

Sampo actually really does care about that planet, it seems. He does something that, according to Sparkle, is out of character for him. He asks for his mask back and says that he will take the front stage, more or less, all of this for a seemingly ordinary planet.

And i feel like this isn't pre-Jarilo-VI quest because, why would they be in Penacony? I think we will have more main Belobog story... maybe.

Anyways. Masked Fools don't really care for things. So him being so involved in the matters of a frozen planet is kinda sweet?

He doesn't want Sparkle to help him either, because he knows how she is.

I feel like: he either got attached to Belobog, or he wants that world to be his sole stage with no one to ruin it. I have a feeling it's the former.

Also something that dawned on me while writing this:

If there is a catastrophe in Belobog like how Sparkle insinuates. And Sampo wants to get involved (assuming to not make it go byebye), wouldn't this make him want to preserve the planet? Haha see like preservation- and the Belobog citizens following the preser- i'm gonna leave now.

I sunk 24 hours of rendering into this piece so MAY AS WELL POST IT

I had to design and illustrate an underground city for my concept art class, and decided to go with subterranean aliens building a vertical metropolis! I’m very inexperienced and no real good with xenobiology, so they ended up like walmart brand bug ferrets….. but I’m definitely happy with the style of architecture!!

So the knight sits in the throne to drive the mechs, but where do the enginesmith and the rest of the crew sit in the mechs?

this is a typical battle configuration. for transport to the site of the battle, additional crews ride on top or wherever it's safe, and dismount to set up camp and provide ground support when they reach their destination

i've drawn the chambers really big just for illustrative purposes. there's a platform usually on the head/behind the helm area for lookouts, navigators, and signallers (they use flag signals to communicate with the ground/other beasts)

the throne chamber is the most heavily armoured with an open front protected by a grille of bars. knights go in there. this is the safest place to be when being attacked from above (rip to the navigators). because knights' helms have no eye holes, field of view is not important.

in the chest there's the heart chamber and its great vessels. usually 3 great vessels. this is really cramped and really deep inside the body so it carries a really high risk of suffocation. one enginesmith, usually the senior, essentially 'plays' the heart engine's cylinder block like a piano to regulate it. iirc pantera has something like 112 pistons total, though not all in the heart. the purpose of the heart is to deliver fuel from the furnace to the limbs/neck/weapons systems/whatever currently requires it. the second enginesmith manages the valves which govern where the fuel goes.

in the belly furnace there's space for a very large crew, these guys have to manually inject fuel from the tank (in the pelvic girdle) into the furnaces at the correct rate to keep it the right temperature. they have tons of ventilation to ensure the fires are always going, but it's, again, very dangerous. the fuel can eat through flesh when it's at this temperature and even a small splash can very quickly become fatal. because of the boiling temperatures, there's no ppe. they work shirtless and have to rely on skill and experience to stay safe.

each area has a communications panel which uses a pull cord system or a message tube system (rarer). the cords are painted alternating bands of colours so that it is visually obvious when someone on the other end of the cord pulls it down a notch. it's simple but it works.

the knight's dialogue with the beast allows them to experience the movement of the cords as an extension of their own body, because the cords go through the spine. so any communication between the different chambers is known to the knight.

🎨🧁Jupiter teaches you growth, wisdom and shows you a new perspective on life. It gives you many opportunities - but you can recognize/take them. It shows you new hope, it shows meaning to your life. 🪐💫Saturn teaches you to see reality better and to react to it more quickly. Teach them discipline, maturity and self-respect. It teaches you to see things and take different perspectives. Act more responsibly. Saturn guides us through paths that we can do on our own. There always comes a time when we must translate that inner growth into concrete, outward terms. This transits are always a call to action in the real word. Saturn it is like father. He wants us to grow up and leave childhood behind. It shows us how we have grown and what we have outgrown. Otherwise, ego either implodes into depression and a sense of "being a victim," or it explodes into waves of ignorant, arrogant, cowardly destructiveness.

🧸🫀Venus encourages us to do something for ourselves, to enjoy the beauty that is given to us. To meet someone, to have a romance. Venus shows us beauty& goddess of the arts. Maybe we will go to the theater, an evening listening to music, a morning walk by the sea or strumming our old guitar. We realize that we are not alone. This is the time to hang out with friends or our lovers. This is good for a hug, a kind relationship. To realize our worth. Many times venus bring wisdom, some new perspective. Venus may offer us a quiet night with cup of tea.

☀️⚡️Sun teaches us to accept a part of our personality, who we are. Maybe during the transit of the sun, we become more egocentric, self-conscious, proud, stubborn. The sun gives us inspiration and joy. Whatever the Sun touches is simply emphasized in our awareness by the contact. When the transiting Sun hits a trigger point, it is as if all the intensity of our life force were focused on that particular dimension of existence. The best way to view the transits of the Sun is to think of them as a big, celestial searchlight.

🌙🍬Moon shows us emotionality, where we are most emotional at that time and what should take over. Transits of moon are often dramatic. The transits of the Moon illuminate the daily impact of the unconscious mind upon the ego, of soul upon personality. It represents our everyday emotions and how we deal with it. The moon creates events that we remember and stay in our hearts. The memories that we create with others.

🌴🐚Mercury helps us to get to know things that we haven't until now. It gives us new information to face. Usually it has to do with our mentality and communication with others. We mean something that may not be what it seems. We think about things and people around us and create a picture, which in the end turns out to be different. We think that someone is angry with us, but in reality they are just tired of things. We are open for new changes, new experiences. We are facing objective truth. The mind becomes overwrought. We tend to get nervous. We chatter. Usually because we are resisting some critical new concept, desperately trying to hold together our old model of the world rather than allowing ourselves to flow into a clearer, more mature picture of life and of our place in it. We have to talk.

Some more scattered Deep Cover thoughts

If the lights in Deep Cover are meant to look like police lights,

Then these are probably UV lights, which are often used to see bodily fluids in crime scenes.

Blood doesn't actually fluoresce in real life, it becomes darker, but these shots aren't literal and the bright magenta conveys the idea that "Kotoko's crimes are being exposed and highlighted" better (also, bright pink blood just looks cooler).

Sometimes I wonder if this is meant to look like tear gas. I don't have a clear reason as to why I think that, besides maybe how Kotoko seems to be annoyed/hurt by it? But nothing really substantial.

The way the ring forms and orbits around her paired with how the night sky is present in other parts of the mv made me think of Saturn, which also happens to be the name of the roman equivalent of Cronos. I know it might be a bit of a stretch, but I think it's funny that it's possible to link Kotoko to three separate child eaters.

I feel like I interpret this scene very differently from others, at least from what I've seen.

Kotoko starts off with her eyes completely devoid of light, she's running and looking straight ahead. Until she sees Lucky. The light returns to her eyes, she slows down and for a brief moment her tunnel vision breaks. I always read this as her almost hesitating to keep going. Like seeing Lucky made her remember her actual reason for wanting to pursue justice, and seeing how afraid she was made her slow down and her unwavering determination faltered. Until she decides that this is actually a sign of weakness and throws away the cap that linked them together.

I can see this being a sort of threat towards Lucky after seeing other people suggesting that though. Especially since it's paired with the line "Don't you dare stop me now". And it's interesting to think of it as being because of either Kotoko wanting to push her away to protect her, resenting her for retracting the statement or dismissing her for doubting the methods and the violence she's using.
