Some day these may be peppers.
I finally got up the nerve to thin out and replant my seedlings
look at that root system!!
“I don’t have a problem” I say as I put just one more packet of seeds in my buggy
My grove of sunflowers!!! We had a patio that hasn’t really been used except for allowing wild petunias and snapdragons to grow every summer. But we had a bout of creeping Charlie coming through the grass and so we decided to rip everything up. Moved the blocks around and sowed American Giant and Mammoth sunflowers. 🌻🌻🌻 we did this over Memorial Day weekend and today they started sprouting after being planted on Saturday and Sunday! They seem to really be enjoying the sand-mixed soil under there. Can’t wait to see them grow!
So summer gardening has been pretty successful so far! We got a lot going on in the backyard this year. Trying my hand at a lot of edible gardening too. Snap peas, which are taking off, cucumber-lemons, a lot of tomatoes, zucchini, pickles, peppers, and a whole assortment of other things. Also featured in this array are my potted sunflowers! Hasn’t even been 2 weeks and they’re already sprouting so well! Along with a pot filled with blue cornflowers and white daisies. 🌻🌻🌱🌱
Day Five: I finally sprouted! 47 blades of grass have peeked out from under my dirt and are soaking in the sunlight :) I am proud of my accomplishments! Now to continue growing :)

nothing is more stressful than repotting a plant i stg
Got new plant babies
Can anyone spot the runt of the tomato family?
My dear garden!anon! I want you to see these!
I got this baby years ago and he is doing amazingly. I probably need to put him in a bigger pot, but… I don’t wanna be stabbed. Haha! Look at how cute he is!
I just bought this succulent. He will have a bigger pot. My plan is to get a couple more and have a bigger pot that sits on a table somewhere with a forest of succulents.
Here are two casualties of pruning. Sometimes, dead buds have to come off with living ones… or somethings I just cut too far and make a woopsie. They smell good, though!
My crawling rose has decided to bloom! LOOK AT HER GO.
After I first realized I had casualties…
After the pruning! There’s a mess beneath the bush but she’s all cleaned up!
Garden!anon, I have to make a confession…
I haven’t pruned or done the Sevens Dust. It hasn’t stopped raining a single day here, and I am not pruning anything in the rain. It’s nice, sure, and we have spots of sun where it hasn’t rained, but like… I haven’t done it yet and I feel so bad for my rose bush. Just the yellow one needs pruned. I need to do it. Maybe I can make a goal today to do it? I definitely need to. They would be healthier. I can do it. UGH. I CAN DO IT.
The last two days I’ve made over 200 calls and got chewed out by a parent, but only one over 200 was awful. So that’s good, right? In fact, I had like… five or six parents tell me that my name is a household thing because their child feels so connected/supported by me. That far outweighs the bad call, who I hung up on. I might be a teacher, but I will never, ever let a parent treat me like dirt. I don’t care how America feels about teachers. I put too much work into my job to listen to that bullshit.
Mulberries taste like a lighter version of blackberries. Smoother. Less sour. Sweeter. God forbid they burst in your fingers, though. They’re stained red for the rest of the day if they do! Haha! But they’re super good!
When I bought the house, it was winter. I didn’t know what the house had or didn’t have. That summer, the tree behind our fence reached over our yard and dropped berries! The mulberry tree technically belongs to the city, as it’s beyond our fence. However, if a tree is leaning or dangerous, the city won’t take any responsibility for it. So. It’s my tree now. :)
We actually did a cook out on Memorial Day! My SO used his tools to cook over the fire right before rain hit, so we were able to have burgers despite the storm!
I guess I have a goal today: prune my roses, lay Sevens Dust, and go to the nursery to get tomatoes/lettuce for our planters!
