Harnessing the Benefits of Coco Plugs for Sustainable Indoor Gardening
In the realm of indoor gardening, Coco plugs stand out as a sustainable and efficient solution for nurturing plant life. These plugs, crafted from coconut coir, offer a myriad of advantages that cater to both the needs of plants and environmental consciousness.
Coco plugs are renowned for their exceptional aeration and moisture retention properties. Their porous structure allows for optimal airflow to the roots, promoting robust growth. Furthermore, they excel in retaining moisture, ensuring that plants have a steady supply of water without the risk of waterlogging.
One of the most appealing aspects of Coco plugs is their eco-friendliness. Being biodegradable, they break down naturally over time, enriching the soil with organic matter. This sustainability factor is a significant draw for environmentally conscious gardeners looking to minimize their ecological footprint.
Another noteworthy benefit of Coco plugs is their ease of use. They come in a compact, dry form, which expands when soaked in water. This makes them convenient for starting seeds or transplanting seedlings, as they provide a conducive environment for root development.
Coco plugs are not limited to traditional soil-based gardening; they are also well-suited for hydroponic systems. Their ability to retain moisture while allowing for ample aeration makes them a versatile choice for various growing methods.

It is always interesting to see how the plants roots form in their pots. They always look different and sometimes unusual. These roots decided not to grow out of the bottom of the pots holes but around the holes instead. 🪴 🌱 💚 ☀️ #plantroots #roots #rooting #interestingrootformation #rootformation #indoorplants #houseplants #instaplants #indoorgarden #plantsmakepeoplehappy #plantrecovery #plantlifestyle https://www.instagram.com/p/CdIrKTlKatZ/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

It has been found that soil structure improved with higher plant diversity and the diverse properties of different plant roots were the key factor in keeping soil healthy As roots explore, they release sugars, organic acids and other compounds into the soil, providing food to the entire ecosystem. Happy Monday y’all! This saying is something that has always stuck with me both personally and professionally. People don’t always see or need to see all the work and all the moves you’re making when you’re building and growing. Choose wisely what you share and show. Sometimes too many opinions can be like too much water for a plant. It doesn’t help it grown and can suffocate it. Learning what the best balance is for YOU, what you’re growth is, is what will work. Sometimes you don’t need so much light, cause what you’re able to do in the quiet and shade can be more helpful at times. Always grow, always learn, continue to move forward. Plant your roots and be patient with them. Nourish the soul of what they are and feed them according to what you want the world to see. And don’t worry about your neighbors garden or what they are planting. What works for them, may not even be what you want. And always trust that God will give you the perfect amount of soil and watering you need to bloom! Hope everyone has a wonderful start to their week! . . . . @thesouthernc @letsgrowsisters @womenontopp @womansdaymag @womenshealthmag @myherminebox @womeninbusinessclub @becausemomatlanta @atlgirlgang @womanceomindset . . . . #motivationmonday #plantroots #workhard #keepyourheaddownandgrind #wakeup #grind #motivate #inspire #lookforward #moveforward #pray #trustinGod #newbusiness #startingoverquotes #startsomewhere #mindyourbusiness #womeninbusiness #supportsmallbusiness #prayworkbelieve #paisleyandfaith #fillyourheartfeedyoursoul #glowinfaith ❤️🤍💙🇺🇸 https://www.instagram.com/p/CDtrLHAgm3g/?igshid=1ridvcyh8sz7y

More roots from the garden today. These are raspberry plant roots that can grow to a depth of 1ft/30cm. I was going to transplant once spring came, but now that spring is here we need to re-home them instead of replanting them. I was talking with a friend the other day about all their current exploits: traveling to XYZ, working on these days, brunch with XYZ… And how exhausting it all is. I couldn’t help but wonder “how do you take time to have long-lasting, meaningful relationships if you’re always going somewhere or doing something?” Moral of the story: doing all that can be fun and exciting, but don’t become trapped in a prison of your own activities. Slow down and take a moment to stop and smell the roses from time to time, you never know who’d like to stop and smell them with you. #wintermood #slowtime #slowdown #plantroots (at The Universe) https://www.instagram.com/p/CX9aU03PJJ0/?utm_medium=tumblr

A sad picture of my sad dieffenbachia. It got super leggy at first then, it got worse when I took advice to repot it in a bigger pot to “grow the roots out” (in this massive and deep pot with tiny roots). Nearly killed it because of root rot  and this is also how my monstera cutting almost died as well. I put my tiny rooted monstera cutting in this same pot and it started dying. Wrong soil and too big of a pot for the roots.
Two huge lessons learned here.
One. Don’t think that every piece of advice you get is correct. Do your own research.
Two. Don’t over pot your plants when they have tiny roots! Let them grow out their roots in a small pot. Letting them get root bound is the best way to make sure you aren't going to get root rot and give them the best chance to grow bigger.
And now that I think about it, that soil mix was miracle grow, gross, no wonder I had tons of gnats.
[insert picture I thought I had]
Thought I had pictures of the cutting process and progress of propagation in water.. 😕 swear I remember taking some.
Anyway, here’s it is after I cut it, propagated it in water for about 2.5 months or so.
They look weak and fragile.
Tumblr media
It took forever to get to this point. But I’m stubborn and haven't given up.
I transferred these cuttings to New Zealand Sphagnum moss after this..
Amazing updates coming soon!
