There are many instances of repair and refurbishment. A constant battle is waged against rust as attested by numerous payments for oil and bran: by rolling mail defences in a scouring barrel the bran acts as an effective abrasive. Elbow grease was often the most effective (and cost effective) 'substance'. For every piece of plate armour referred to as 'burnished' or 'white', a man (or boy) would be required to diligently polish it to a mirror finish. Emery from Alexandria was used on Edward of Caernarfon's harness and one pound of the stuff on Henry, earl of Derby's. There are white shammies for polishing hauberks and many bespoke trunks, coffers, and bags constructed for the carriage of weapons and armour. The composite armor known as B3 is one of the captivating pieces permanently exhibited at the Diocesan Museum of Mantua.
I want to share extraordinary images of this armor, not taken in its natural setting in Mantua but from the exhibition : “Federico da Montefeltro e Gubbio. Lì è tutto il nostro cuore e tutta l’anima nostra”...

Multiple suits of cuirassier armor at the Landeszeughaus museum in Graz, capital of Styria (Austria). I had the chance to visit the place last year, incredible experience, you owe it to yourself if you enjoy armor and travel through Austria.

Moh's a dragongorn fighter in plate armour who's very serious all the time. This is another commission I worked on last month, I hope you like it, he is one of my favourites. I really like working on different types of characters and it's not often that I get to draw a scaly one or furry people hahah.
If you like this kind of portrait please check out my commission sheet and send me an email with all the details and any questions you may have. See yah!

📣 Check out this incredible set of late Medieval splint/brigandine arm armor! 🛡️
Crafted with 16-gauge steel poleyns, this armor provides excellent protection for the arms. The upper and lower leg armor is made from thick and tough quality leather, riveted with strips of steel. 💪
This combination of materials makes it difficult for any opponent to cut through the leg armor. The thick leather is a formidable barrier, offering significant resistance to piercing and puncturing. 🚫⚔️
Not only does this armor provide outstanding protection, but it also reduces the amount of steel required, resulting in a lighter overall weight. Perfect for the Medieval warrior who values practicality and effectiveness.

An illustration of a boyar cavalryman of "Rod Vojvodin Bol'shogo" or "House Vojvodin of Bolshoi" unhorsing a "legitimate issue" or "a dynastic scion" of "Maison Williamson du Royaume d'Aquitaine" or "House Williamson of The Kingdom of Aquitaine." This illustration officially commemorates Rod Vojvodin Bol'shogo's hard-earned triumph against Maison Williamson du Royaume d'Aquitaine and it's feudal vassals during "The Second Rus'kayan Errantry War" officially preached and prosecuted against at "La Vallée de Morçeaux" in "Le Duché de Dulac" by Louis-Chrétien Carignan-Cerqui, Archevêque de Carillon on behalf of Archpatriarch Benedin XVI, 261st Bishop of Romulus and Head of The Conservative Church of The New Gods with the intent of the systematic purging of the religious heretics officially subscribed to The Church of The Old Gods in Rus'kaya Tsarstvo in retaliation to Rod Vojvodin Bol'shogo's military and political connivance with Al-Khalifat Al-Khashabar against the religiously Conservative "Rod Danielewski z Mazowsza" or "House Danielewski of Mazowsze," the traditional "Defenders of The Faith" as officially proclaimed by "The Archpatriarchs" or "The Bishops of Romulus" as the anointed, undisputed, and universal "Heads of The Conservative Church of The New Gods." This illustration best contrasts the civilizational friction between the opulence, extravagance, and luxury of La Cour Royale de Maison Williamson du Royaume d'Aquitaine au Palais de Fontainebleau with the rugged, bold, and Spartan aesthetic of the princely "great houses" of boyar and dvoryantsvo aristocrats and nobles officially seated within the provincial "kremlins" of the Gospodar and the Moravian petty principalities within Rus'kaya Tsarstvo.

Source: Armour of the English Knight 1400-1450
For the upper arm defences I love the early 14th century aesthetic of the English's spaulders and upper arm cannon. It has all the lovely articulation of plate armour while still having a large amount of mail in its design.
