Oh the hypocrisy.

So if y’all aren’t in the seafaring rouge (wink) community in the Sims 4, you probably don’t know that there’s a few different hotspots around the world wide web for these swashbucklers to gather. One such place is a place that we’ll call “Forum X” to protect the location for our buccaneers.

Forum X is a forum dedicated to other things than the sims, but a small faction of the buccaneer community has used it to share CC from behind paywalls, and share converted meshes from second life and other places. Now granted, I’m a little meh, and ehhhh on the whole converting from second life thing (although SL creators are just as guilty as convering from the sims), but that is neither here nor there. (I personally don’t convert stuff, nor do I plan to.) The irony is, that this Forum X was known to a few certain creators who would go on there to try to “argue” with our seafaring friends. And one of them just got caught in the cookie jar.

See this hair? It was in a post from Platinum Luxe Sims, who although not a full “paywall” creator, does have some “exclusive” recolors and CC gifts for her patreons, thus putting some of her content behind paywalls. (Seriously gal? You literally can’t just...you know...release everything and stick to polls and a discord server or some shit for your patreons? Really?) So one of the interesting topics discussed by our seafaring friends today was this little “nugget”.

Okay, so what’s the deal with this picture, you may ask? Easy. The hair was a second life conversion that was ONLY posted on “Forum X”. So PlatinumLuxe is ALL against people stealing and leaking HER content (content that isn’t ethically right with the community) but is perfectly fine with using forums and conversions from those same leakers when it suits her. What a joke. Also, it should be noted that any time you see a notice like this on a patreon:

You can be sure that there’s something ethically wrong going on. Anyway, I just wanted to share because I find it really funny that people will rail and complain about these groups, only to use them for their own gain when it suits them. Funny how that works, doesn’t it. Almost as if they don’t really care about the community, and are just in it for themselves. Hm.
