imo the pre-canon virgil and remus dynamic probably had heavy HEAVY parallels to current logan and roman.
tell me virgil didnt wail "STOP" when remus got too gross the same way logan screeches "FALSEHOOD" at romans increasingly stupid fantasies.
tell me virgil didnt narrow his eyes all confused when remus said something stupid the same way logan does with romans over dramatic metaphors or weird jokes.
tell me that they weren't weirdly vulnerable in the same way. tell me they weren't the type to fight only because they were close, because they were family.
tell me virgil doesnt watch logan and roman some days with a homesick feeling resting in his heart.

Roman: Hey, Logan?
Logan: Yes?
Roman: What would happen if Pinocchio said 'my nose will grow now'?
Logan: …
Roman: I NEED TO KNOW!
Logan: Stop— This physically hurts me, give me a moment—

Sanders sides office au (Not the show just them working in a random office)
Logan's the CEO
Roman's Logan's personal assistant (he wants to be an actor but does this until he gets his break)
Virgil and Patton have regular office jobs (patton's kinda a personality hire)
Janus is the head of HR slowly losing his mind trying to prove Logan and Patton are secretly dating
Remy's the receptionist
Remus is the janitor
Roman is Logan's personal assistant but likes to go above and beyond and do stuff for everyone around the office like helping print patton's paper work or buying everyone coffee
Virgil hates Roman. His vibe is just off.
Roman and Remy are freimeies
Roman and Patton are work besties
Roman and Logan are friends from high school
Roman has full access to Logan's weekly planner and just adds stuff like 'Tuesday morning brunch with ro and pat' and 'don't go to Thursday's meeting the hot intern's not coming
But despite his slight mischief he's absolutely essential. At some point he leaves for a week with out warning because of a family emergency or something which would be fine, except Logan's become really quite dependent on Roman for almost everything even non work related things. So that whole week Logan's showing up late to work like "I couldn't decide what to have for breakfast and I spent so long deciding I missed my bus and didn't end up eating anything" and he's missing meetings and work lunches and being generally cranky cause he doesn't have time to buy himself coffee so he's exhausted and when roman finally comes back Logan storms up to him all angry and says "you've ruined me! I used to be so capable and now without you I'm a bumbling fool and Roman just laughs and claps him on the shoulder "like aw I love you to spark point"
Also Logan and Patton totally do have a secret relationship, they just make out in Logan's office with the blinds drawn
Remy barely ever shows up for work but when he does he's hung over and screaming into his phone gossiping
Logan's always trying to raise office moral with silly work lunches but eventually Patton just takes over cause Logan's awful at it and they start going to pottery barns and laser tag
Eventually Virgil and Roman do become friends and their hangouts mostly consist of going to waffle house at 2am and getting drunk in taco bell parking lots

Au where logan and roman are besties and roman is just so so close with logan he refuses to date anybody who doesn't have a friend for logan to date as well. The only problem with that tho is roman is this 11/10 hot god who men would kill for while logan is a 4/10 stiff lanky nerd who's interests include stamp collecting and the process of making jelly. So roman is painfully ignorant to how different they are, he sees literally no difference in attractiveness. He thinks he and logan are both just average lookin dudes guys don't want because they aren't hot super models and logan doesn't really know how to feel about it. On one hand he doesn't want roman to know the truth because he does legitimatley love being his friend and he's worried that he might ditch him if he knew the truth. On the other hand, it gets really frustrating being somebody who actually has problems with men and insecurities while your super hot friend laments that no guy wants him.
They could always date each other if you like logince

School Dances Suck... Most of the time. (Part 1)
Summary:
A highschool AU where everyone is struggling through Junior Year! When Janus is forced to go to a school dance, he usually just sits in the corner with Virgil and Remus. But this time, they have dates, and Janus doesn't. There will be multiple parts. I don't know how long this will be, but I've been thinking of expanding on everyone a little bit :)
Words: 1875
Warnings: None that I can think of for this one part, but please, please feel free to let me know if you think I should add some.
AO3
Author's Note: Apologies if there's any issues with spacing or formatting. It's my first time posting a fic on Tumblr, or, well, anywhere. I'm a tad new at this, but I'm sure I'll get the hang of it in time!
Janus sat alone in the corner of the gym. He hadn’t expected to be alone tonight.
Virgil was always his resident loner friend at school functions. Neither of them wanted to be there, but their parents always insisted. So the two always sat in the same spot and talked. And sometimes, Remus would keep them company too. But tonight, even Virgil had been dragged away to the dance floor by Roman. Remus had even managed to convince Logan to dance with him smack dab in the middle of the gym.
So Janus sat alone, counting the minutes until he could go home, and watching his friends dance.
Janus scrolled Tumblr on his phone for as long as he could before it got boring. When it eventually did, he returned to his spiteful watching of the crowd. But before too long, he heard someone sit down next to him. He turned to see Patton.
He’d only met Patton a handful of times. They sat next to each other in their AP Psychology class, but Janus didn’t talk to him much. Other than borrowing a pencil or charger was the extent of their interactions. But Janus had heard of Patton from others. He was friendly with everyone, very generous, and kind. Most people were at least acquaintances with him.
“Hey, Jan!” He beamed.
“Hello, Patton.” He turned to face him, adjusting his hat.
“I like your skirt!”
That’s right, he’d worn his new favorite outfit. If he was going to be forced to sit in a gym with a bunch of people he didn’t care to know, listening to shitty, outdated music, he was at least going to look good. He wore a brand new silk skirt that lapped at his ankles, with a simple black blouse, topped with a black shawl with yellow rimming, and a big, floppy black hat. And to top it all off, half of a masquerade mask over the aged burns on his face.
“Thank you,” he said, smoothing his hands over his skirt as he did. Patton nodded, smiling. “Why are you sitting alone?”
Janus scoffed. “Because Virgil and Remus abandoned me! “ He huffed. “Our parents make us come to every school dance, and we sit right here and hate it together. But this time, Virgil has a date.” He hissed the word ‘date’ like a curse. “And Remus managed to extort Logan for a dance too. So I’m here. Alone.”
“Oh, Jan… That doesn’t sound fun. But, aren’t you happy they’re enjoying themselves?”
“Obviously,” Janus snapped, regretting it immediately upon seeing Patton wince. “Sorry.”
“That’s okay,” Patton said, incredibly patiently. Janus didn’t know how he managed.
“I'm glad they're happy. But I'm still here. Alone.”
“Well, you're not alone now.” Patton stood up, offering his hand with a smile. “What do you say? Treat me to a dance?” He asked hopefully. Janus looked at his hand for a moment, blinking.
“You? Dance with me?”
“You don’t have to,” Patton said, looking a little dejected.
“No, that’s not what I meant. I just- won’t people look at you weird?”
“Why would they?”
“Why wouldn’t they?” Janus motioned toward the singed side of his face. “I’m not really high on the social ladder here, Patton.”
“So?”
“You are.”
“And why would that matter?”
“I-”
“Just dance with me, Janus,” Patton said with a softness Janus had never heard from him. Patton’s voice was always gentle, but this was a different kind of gentleness that Janus couldn’t quite place. He couldn't say no to that.
He took Patton’s hand, and watched his face light up. Patton guided Janus to the middle of the gym, and started dancing with him. And god, he was terrible at it. He’d not only stepped on Janus’ toes, but someone else’s. He was a hazard. But it brought a smile to Janus’ face. He looked at Patton and held back a laugh, taking both of his hands. He led with the grace of a professional. Patton seemed surprised by this.
“What? Didn’t think I could dance?” Janus asked, a slightly amused smirk on his face.
“I- well, I didn’t think you’d be this good at it!” Patton admitted. “You said it yourself, you don’t like these dances.”
“Years of practice, darling.”
“Do you dance a lot?”
“Not by choice. My parents have had me in lessons since I could walk.” Janus rolled his eyes. He felt Patton hesitate. “This is the first time I’ve really enjoyed dancing.” He said, and Patton seemed to brighten at that. “Well, a real dance, anyway.”
“What do you mean, a real dance?”
“Well, sometimes Virgil, Remus, and I will dance in the rain, but it’s not like… a real dance. It’s more of… frolicking.” He looked down to see Patton smiling fondly.
“You three are close, huh?”
“Yeah. We grew up together. They’re… They’re like my family. More than my actual family, even. I mean, not my mom. She’s great.” Janus smiled softly. Why was he telling this to Patton of all people? He barely knew him. But something about the man was so easy to talk to. Like he’d listen for hours, no matter what you were talking about. Before he could treat himself to that rabbit hole, Patton’s voice lured him from his thoughts.
“Aw, that’s great! That’s kind of like Roman, Logan and I. What do you say we check on them?” Patton looked around, pointing to Logan and Remus, who had now migrated to the outskirts of the gym. Remus had Logan in an awkward looking hug, but Logan, surprisingly, was smiling, very wide. Remus seemed to be happy, so Janus was satisfied.
Next was Virgil and Roman. They weren’t hard to find at all. Roman usually commanded all of the attention in a room, and tonight was no exception with his red, sequin covered skirt. He stood by the DJ, whispering to them while Virgil stood off to the side. Then, a moment later, a Paramore song started blasting through the gym. Virgil’s face bloomed into a smile, and Roman pulled him close, dipped him dramatically, and said something to him. Whatever it was, it seemed to have flustered him, as his face turned beet red.
Janus burst out laughing, but his gaze was soft. “It’s been awhile since Virgil has looked at anyone like that. It’s nice to see him so happy again.”
“Same with Logan. Don’t tell him I said this, but he gushes about Remus all the time,” Patton giggled.
“Come to think of it, Remus has been talking about him a lot too.
They seem to understand each other… somehow.”
“Awww.”
“Even I don't understand Remus,” Janus said fondly. He didn’t know what possessed him to say what he was about to say. “I don’t really know Roman that well, but Logan seems cool. And you… I’d like to get to know you more. And the others. If, um, if you wouldn’t mind.” His head caught up with his words, and he cleared his throat, his face suddenly hot.
Patton smiled. “I think I’d really enjoy that.”
“Good,” Janus said, looking away awkwardly. “So, um, Remus, Virgil and I usually go to dinner after these kinds of things… Would you like to join us? You can bring Roman and Logan. I’d be happy to pay for all three of you.”
“That’s a lot of money, Janus,” Patton said, a bit of a guilty look on his face.
“Money is just an object. My parents and I are far from struggling. Really, I insist.”
“I don’t think Logan will let you pay for him.”
“He can suit himself. But I’m still paying for you.”
“I pay for half of it.”
“Deal.” Janus chuckled.
The Paramore song Roman had played for Virgil now faded into slow, soft music.
“Do you want to leave after this song? Remus doesn’t really like slow dances, and Virgil is usually tired of this many people by now. And, I think I usually see Logan reading in the corner by now.”
“Yeah. But I still have you for this song.” Patton gave him a look, and smiled. “I’m not great at this, but-”
“Not to worry! I can show you. Just follow my lead.” Janus felt himself smiling wider as Patton nodded, determination in his eyes. As Janus led, neither of them said a word. Patton was concentrating, mostly staring at their feet, trying to copy Janus’ movements. When he got a vague grasp of it, he looked up at Janus, smiling wide. Janus had a small, fond smile on his face, too.
Janus took Patton’s hand, spinning him around. He was a little flustered, but adjusted quickly, with a few bright giggles. Janus felt a few laughs bubble up in his stomach as well. He had this warm feeling in his chest, and his face hurt from smiling so much. What was this? Why did Patton have this effect on him?
Any other time, he’d back out right now. Leave, and never look Patton in the eyes again. He was already in too deep for his liking. He’d asked Patton to dinner for fucks sake! But if Virgil and Remus had found people they tolerated, why couldn’t he? Besides, after tonight, he didn’t expect many Patton-free days, even if he tried. And he wasn’t sure he wanted many Patton-free days, after all.
He felt at ease. His friends were happy, Patton was happy. And, he was happy. He would be content to sway with Patton all night. He closed his eyes, taking in the peace of it all.
Maybe getting close to Patton wouldn’t be so bad.
He hadn’t even noticed the song had ended, before Remus bumped into him, hard.
"Hey, Jan!”
“Hello.”
“So, what are our dinner plans tonight? I was hoping that maybe…”
“I already offered to bring Logan when I invited Patton.”
“Awesome!” Remus cheered, pumping his fists in the air. That earned a soft chuckle from Logan behind him. “Virgil asked if we could leave soon. It’s a little loud here for him.”
“Yeah, we’ll go in just a second. Could you go get him? Tell him to bring Roman too.”
“Are you feeling alright, Jan? You hate people.”
A laugh escaped Patton, but he quickly covered his mouth.
“I'm feeling particularly generous tonight, Re. It's been a rather nice night.” He smiled, his eyes flicking towards Patton for just a second, though he wished his gaze could linger on the other man.
Remus raised his brows at Janus with a smug look.
“Fuck off.” Janus shoved Remus lightly. “Go find Virgil! And take Specks here with you.” He flashed an apologetic look toward Logan, who waved it off, seemingly unbothered.
“Fiiiine. We'll meet at your car.” Remus scurried off, dragging Logan behind him by the arm with no warning.
Janus turned back to Patton, melting as he smiled.
“I think we should do this again,” Patton said, and Janus' chest felt warm again.
“My family hosts a spring masquerade every year. If you'd like to come, I'm sure my mom would be delighted to know I'm coming with someone this year.” “I'd like that.”
Janus decided to test his luck. “Then, it's a date.”
Patton went red, but he smiled. “I can't wait.”

slight spoilers for the latest ts video (the sides need a nice day) below the cut!
sidenote if you haven’t watched this ep yet, you absolutely should. it’s adorable :)
there’s so much to talk about in this, but i wrote a little ficlet inspired by the events of the fic instead because when inspiration strikes, you’ve got to capitalise
For the first time in weeks, Roman found himself waking up to a feeling of warm contentment in his chest and bright vigour, all characteristic of getting a full night’s sleep. A luxury that he could barely afford anymore, given how much had been going on.
He had worked himself to the bone these last few weeks, trying desperately to make up for losing the glorious opportunity that was a callback from Alfred Hitchcoppalucas of all people and then worked even harder when Thomas met Nico, determined to make things work for at least one of them. He couldn’t remember the last time he woke up feeling this pleasant. Or the last time he wanted to wake up, at all.
But yesterday, thanks to Virgil’s odd yet comforting methods of relaxation, he finally felt as though he had a purpose aside from being Creativity.
He skipped into the bathroom to freshen up for the day, bidding a cheerful good morning to little Arachne (the name was courtesy of Virgil) who, despite his earlier inhibitions, was not as terrifying as he thought, and maybe even a little endearing in the way she scuttled over to the edge of her enclosure to greet him.
Perhaps everything wasn’t completely awful.
Only Logan was at the kitchen when he arrived to get breakfast, pouring out coffee into a worryingly large tumbler while somehow also intensely focused on reading a book. It would have been fascinating had it also not been alarming at how close he was to burning his hand on scalding coffee.
“Careful!” Roman shifted the tumbler of coffee just as it filled to the brim, the beverage narrowly avoiding contact with Logan’s hand in the process.
Logan blinked up at him incredulously. “Oh. When did you get here, Roman?”
The Creative Side rolled his eyes. “Good morning, Roman. Thank you for saving my life and my coffee, Roman,” he huffed, his voice imitating a much more childish version of Logan.
“I don’t sound like that,” Logan pointed out, taking his tumbler to the dining table. “And I doubt I would lose my life if I were to spill coffee on my hand. While it would be highly painful and I do appreciate that you helped in time, I believe this is an example of being overly dramatic.” A slight smirk tugged at the corner of his mouth, betraying the otherwise dry tone.
Roman picked up a butter knife in place of his sword, using it to point in Logan’s direction. “Ah but you would be in pain! I saved your life, Microsoft Nerd. I’ll take the appreciation as your undying gratitude.”
Pleased, he turned back to the kitchen and popped two pieces of bread in the toaster. It wasn’t until a few minutes later, when the toast had been properly buttered and Roman sat down opposing Logan at the table, that he remembered how he wasn’t the only one to receive a pleasant outing yesterday.
“So,” he began loudly, prompting Logan to put aside his book (albeit not without an exasperated sigh). “I heard Patton took you on a little date yesterday.” He grinned at his choice of words.
Success! Logan flushed a shade of pale pink. “It wasn’t a date, Roman,” he grumbled. “Patton simply noticed that I had been… Preoccupied, lately, so he tried to give me a nice day. It was very sweet of him. We went to the library, that’s where I got this from.” He gestured to the book on the table, smiling softly.
Roman gave him a smug look. “That sounds like a date to me, Calculator Watch. Only you and him got to spend time together, doing something you like? That’s essentially what Thomas and Nico do all the time. I would know, I’m the romantic one.”
Logan rolled his eyes. “Oh, really? Because as I recall, Virgil did something similar with you. Am I to assume that you two went on a date as well?”
“What?” Heat rushed to Roman’s face. “N-no! That’s not the same thing at all! You two went out, Virgil and I were at home all day! And we just listened to songs, watched Disney related videos and then he read me a bedtime story. It’s completely different!” He protested, trying to ignore the blush spreading across his cheeks.
“I once remember you telling me that your ideal date included songs, Disney and enjoying with someone that you liked being around.” Logan raised an eyebrow, mirroring the smug look that had been on Roman’s face not two minutes ago. “Is that not what you did?”
“Oh shut up.” Roman stuffed the last piece of toast in his mouth, determinedly chewing so as not to answer Logan. He heard a light chuckle, and then silence. The nerd must have gone back to reading his book.
And it would have been calm after that, if not for the whirlwind of destruction that entered the kitchen, banging pots and pans with a sharp, shit eating grin.
Remus. It was Remus.
Without glancing up from his book, Logan greeted Remus and politely asked him to quiet down, which obviously did not work out. Remus simply increased the volume of his chaos, now also dancing around the area while singing at the top of his lungs.
They needed a distraction. “Hey Remus!” Roman yelled, trying to grab his attention. “How was your outing with Janus yesterday?”
At the mention of the snake themed Side, Remus stopped all sound and jumped onto the table, grinning widely. “It was awesome! I got to smash cars, dangle a phone off the bridge and made a new friend! Plus I finally figured out what that brown carpet stain is.” He lowered his voice. “It was chocolate. A little disappointing, but whatever! It was still fun!”
“A new friend?” Roman asked, and then immediately regretted asking.
That sent Remus into an explanation of how he met Bloody Mary, and how they became good friends and she’s just so lovely, and she’s got really high quality blood, even if she’s a bit secretive about where she gets it. No matter, he’ll find out eventually. By the end, Roman wasn’t sure if he should feel sick or terrified.
“So yeah!” Remus finished off, still grinning. “She and I are meeting up again soon. Jan’s the best.”
Logan scoffed at that, causing both twins to look at him. “Remus, while your day sounded… Interesting, I believe it was Patton who came up with the idea. If we’re deciding who ‘the best’ is, it should be the one who started the process in the first place.” He flipped a page, seeming to have made his point.
Oh boy. If he was going to get competitive…
“Patton may have come up with it, but Virgil went out of his way to get me a new animal companion!” Roman shot back. “Her name is Arachne and she may be a little scary looking, but she’s a cutie! And no you can’t have her! She’s mine.” The last part was directed towards Remus, who groaned in disappointment. “So it’s Virgil who’s the best!”
The three of them defiantly stood their ground, glaring at each other. None of them were going to go down without a fight.
Watching from the staircase, Patton nervously bit his lip. “Should we stop them?” He whispered to the other two, looking concerned at the growing dispute.
“Nah,” Virgil answered easily, a grin forming. “I kinda wanna see who wins.”
Janus smirked. “You know, for once I actually agree with you, Virgil. I’m putting my money on Remus.”
Patton shook his head, but couldn’t help but smile as he looked over at Virgil and Janus, and then back at the three Sides squabbling in the kitchen. Things may have been rough, but he was hopeful that they would be getting better, and it would take all of them to get there for Thomas’ sake. Besides, he was happy with things, at least for now.
It was looking to be a nice day.

sometimes i think too hard about platonic/brotherly logince and i get so emotional i just have to lay in bed.
like. fucking TELL ME roman wouldnt find logan having a rage break down and just. sit with him and go on and on about how valiant and brave lo is until the stupid dramatics makes logan laugh.
tell me logan wouldnt run into one of romans creative slumps and slowly talk him through it, bringing up solutions until roman either decides to take a break or gets 'sparked' with inspiration again.
late at night, tell me they dont find each others rooms. and tell me they dont count matching glow in the dark stars on the ceilings while talking about a million things they only understand about each other.

Step 3: Wait for them to take a deep breath. Step 4: Remind them that it’s a leap year. Step 5: Observe as math and scansion collide head on.

Adding to my sanders sides office au!
Roman has his own desk but mostly just chills in Logan's office
He also accompanies Logan to all the big important meetings and networking events
Virgil still finds ways to dress emo in the office
Patton's mum's own a cute bakery so sometimes when they host office events they can book that venue for free
Virgil hates working at the office because of corporate culture and constantly wants to fight the man
Logan always makes sure all his employees leave the minute the clock hits five. He refuses to contribute to an unhealthy work life balance.
Logan inherited the company from his dad
Patton has two young kids who he sometimes brings to work if he can't find a baby sitter
No one minds at all, they all try their best to keep them happy and entertained which is fairly easy. A few Disney songs, colouring books and vending machine snacks do the trick
The older one (5) follows Logan around like a baby duck, always trying to see what he's doing and nodding very seriously when Logan explains. Their also very intent on convincing him he should give them a sip of his coffee
Patton's mortified by his kid disrupting Logan's work and apologises profusely but Logan's very endeared by his tiny apprentice
"Do you like frogs Mr Jam" (Logan's last name is crofter and being five and unable to rember the name they call him mr jam cause crofters is jam) "I do like frogs their very interesting" "me to! I wish I were a frog cause they get to live in ponds with lily pads and dragon flies. And if I were a frog I wouldn't let any princesses kiss me" they shake their head with absolute conviction. "Cause then I couldn't be a frog anymore and that'd be very silly" "very silly indeed" Logan agrees unable to hide the smile growing on his face
There's a tiny "desk" (a small coffee table with a pencil case full of glitter pens and a note book) beside Logan's desk for them to sit at
The younger kid has an inexplicable affinity for Remy. Remy does not like kids but this three year old has inhuman amounts of sass and doesn't understand the concept of privacy yet so is great at sharing gossip. They also have a great no fucks to give attitude so Remy genuinely enjoys talking to this kid
"My friend said fairys were stupid so I pushed her and put on another four sets of fairy wings" "yasss queen, that bitch deserved it"
Roman thinks patton's kids are the most adorable things to ever walk the earth but he has zero clue how to interact with children
Sometimes when he stressed Logan smokes but Patton absolutely refuses to kiss him when he does
Logan and Patton only go on dates outta town because janus is just waiting to catch them on a romantic outing
Roman has passed out at work exactly nine times for various reasons (exhaustion, hunger, sickness, shock)
Logan's actshally kinda clumsy and bad with time management hence him needing Roman so bad. But he's really good at his job
Some of the investors hate Logan for being a nepo baby despite him being good at his job. They formally extend the hatred to Roman as well
Both are very protective of the others reputation. Logan once broke an investor's nose after he called Roman a useless boy toy
