Day 1 of platovember, rest. When I was Dipper and Mabel's age, I used to beg my grandparents to let me sleep with them and get all those good cuddles ❤️ I imagine whenever the Grunkles come to visit Piedmont for the holidays, this is exactly how it goes.

"Safety" — Rhodey and Morgan
"This is safe, right?"
"No backing out now," Rhodey grinned.
Morgan stumbled mid-air, but caught herself, stabilizing the foot thrusters. "Not backing out of anything."
"Attagirl. Let's take it slow. Few yards off the ground." Uncle and teenage niece levitated together, each in their own suit, while Pepper beamed at them from the sidelines.
"Whoa!" Rhodey extended an arm. "Easy on descent."
Morgan took deep breaths to calm herself. She was more like Pepper that way. "Thanks, Uncle Platypus."
"Anytime, Miss Alpaca."
Morgan's twinkling eyes, though? Those were all Tony. Rhodey promised himself to keep them safe—this time around.

Acceptance
Peter looked at the door as if he couldn’t go in. He was scared. Maybe it was knowing that he could be pushed away or maybe he was just afraid about what Tony might say to him but either way he was nervous. Nervous but he knew he had to tell Tony. He wanted to be accepted. Peter knocked on the door as it opened to see Tony smiling as he pulled the boy into the house and asked about how is day had been as Peter debated on how to tell Tony.
“We need to talk,” Peter said finally read to tell him. Wanting to be honest with Tony.
“About what Bambino?” Tony asked. Peter tried to figure out how to tell him without him freaking out.
“You know how you were teasing me about being alone with MJ,” Peter said. Tony seemed confused. That had been days ago. Peter had let whatever this is fester for days.
“Well you are…” Tony started but Peter held up his hands.
“I need to say this,” Peter said. Tony nodded. “I’m not interested in that type of relationship. I’m okay with kisses and hugs but I don’t want to go any further with that and MJ knows that.” Peter looked down. Tony seemed to understand or didn’t say anything for a moment as he was processing what Peter had told him.
“Okay?” Tony said not knowing what else to say. His son just admitted that he was interested in sex which was a good thing but he didn’t know how to respond. Was he suppose to tell him he understood when he didn’t.
“I’m sorry,” Peter said about to leave but Tony stopped him.
“It’s okay that you aren’t interested in that stuff. Actually its a relief that I don’t have to worry too much about what you do with MJ. I accept that part of you,” Tony said hoping that was enough. Peter was hugging him which surprised that man. They rarely hugged each other but he knew Peter like hugs. He liked people to hug him.
“Thank you,” Peter told him.
“You shouldn’t have to thank me for accepting you, Kid,” Tony said. Peter knew that but he also knew that the world wasn’t so accepting. Tony made sure to squeeze his son tight so he knew that he wasn’t leaving Peter because he revealed a hidden part of himself.

Platovember: Escape
Cannon Busters AU where Philly and I adopt Killua. It’s been some time since his family forced him back home and Philly and I rescued him, but Killua has a nightmare about the escape all the same.
Content warning: death mention (Philly and I are immortal), trauma abstractly mentioned
Word count: 617
Tumblr media
Killua woke from his dream with a start. Nightmare was a far more appropriate word. Back in that house, back with his so-called blood family. He began to calm his breathing instantly, eyes wide open. He knew before she spoke that Wendy had awoken.
"Killua?" She asked softly. He breathed in, contemplating pretending to be asleep. With his skills he certainly could. But the worry in her voice tugged at his heart streams.
"Yeah." He mumbled, sitting up on his portion of Bessie's interior seating. He had explained that he could sleep anywhere, including the floor, but Wendy had insisted on allocating part of her sleeping space to him. Philly took a whole set of seats to himself still. He was still snoring, but Killua had a feeling he'd wake up soon too.
With a quiet rustling, Wendy sat up, scooting closer to be next to Killua. "Is something wrong?"
Killua hesitated again. "Just...a bad dream." His eyes shifted to the side, unwilling to meet her gaze. He felt stupid that a bad dream would have him feeling so scared. He jerked his head up as Wendy's arms wrapped around him, pulling him to her.
"I'm sorry. Do you want to talk about it?"
"No, it's...it's stupid..." Killua frowned, refusing to give in to Wendy's warm embrace and motherly kindness quite yet.
"It's not stupid." Wendy shook their head. "I have...bad dreams a lot. About dying. About seeing Philly die. Even about you, sometimes."
Killua could hear that Philly's snores had stopped, and his breathing had changed. Awake, but pretending to be asleep, from the sound of it. Probably listening. Perhaps not wanting to interrupt.
"Really?" Killua asked, meeting her gaze earnestly before looking away. "Do they scare you?"
"They do." She tugged gently with her arms until Killua finally leaned against her, hugging her back. "Really bad. Sometimes I would wake up already awash with tears. Do you remember...at Zenith?" Killua nodded. "Sometimes I would wake up like that."
"I...I'm sorry." Killua pressed himself against her tightly.
"It's alright. It is what it is. But my point is, it's okay to be scared." Wendy stroked his hair softly. "Even of dreams."
All was quite for a few moments.
"I dreamt that when you came to rescue me, the escape...didn't go as planned." Killua swallowed hard. Wendy squeezed him tightly, already frowning with eyes full of worry. "Seeing the two of you...die...and not come back..." His eyes welled up.
"I'm sorry we weren't strong enough to protect you from seeing that." Wendy murmured. In the escape attempt, which had succeeded, Wendy and Philly had died. Multiples times. Killua had seen more than one of those occasions. They had been so careful to protect him from seeing them get horribly maimed, injured, or killed. But the Zoldyck family was far stronger than they were, even with immortality considered.
Nonetheless, the rescue had been a success. But it wasn't a stretch to Wendy that Killua would be traumatized by it.
There was a rustling sound. Philly sat down on Killua's other side with a quiet sigh. He wrapped his arms around both of them without a word.
"I'm- I was trained to be an assassin, I shouldn't...it shouldn't bother me." Killua mumbled.
"It's different with people you care about, kid." Philly interjected. The words were serious, despite the still sleepy lilt to them. "Trust me."
"We care about you a whole lot." Wendy added, pressing a kiss to the top of his head.
Killua swallowed, and a few more tears fell. And with the way he hugged her even tighter, even without words Wendy knew he was saying thank you.

Platovember - Contrast
Tumblr media
Gods, how long this took me to finish! But it was worth it. Here is my ode to platonic love, that goes by the name of Friendship. These are my two characters that I’ve held in my heart (and my art) for quite a while.  Meet Jin (left) and Kip (right). If I were to describe them in just two sentences, I’d say “They couldn’t be further apart in personalities” and “Opposites attract”.  While there may not be much to explain about Jin, who is a literal ray of sunshine possessing seemingly limitless amounts of positivity at all times, his red-haired freckled friend Kip is a whole different kettle of fish. A perfectly happy kid turned introverted loner (due to certain events in the past), he’s just about as cold and distant as space itself.  So when the two start attending the same university, they don’t become friends right away due to Kip’s initial coldness, offishness, and unwillingness to let anyone in. Which absolutely doesn’t stop Jin from spending the following three years carefully picking the right keys to earn Kip’s trust. Which he succeeds in, thanks to his patience, understanding, and knowing nothing about giving up. With Kip slowly accepting the fact that somebody actually cares, and that he really doesn’t have to always be alone, the two gradually become close friends.  I don’t know if this is cliche, it probably is, but the concept of the healing power of Friendship is too beautiful and too important not to share with the world.  Maybe, someday I’ll illustrate their story properly, but that day is not todaay, but my mind is a messy place that’s always like ‘I don’t want to do that, all I want is to draw them as soulmates who’d do anything for each other, and them to hug, and have every bonding moment in the universe’ XD. P.S. Friendship IS love. P.P.S. Friendship is sacred. P.P.P.S. Yes, the poem I posted earlier is definitely dedicated to them. It illustrates Jin’s attitude towards Kip perfectly)

Day Three: Acceptance
“It’s good to see you, Lieutenant.”
Connor straightened his tie. Anything to keep his hands busy.
“It’s been a while. Jericho is moving its location again. Still, I should have come sooner.”
A cool breeze ruffled the hem of his jacket. Wrapping his arms around himself, Connor’s gaze flitted to the sky, watching the clouds through the bare branches of the trees.
“I’m sorry, Hank. I should have come sooner.”
He sat down, crossed his legs, and rested his chin on his folded hands. He stared at the marble plaque in the ground and traced the letters with his eyes.
HANK ANDERSON
“Markus says it can take a long time to accept someone’s death. I’m sure you know that better than anyone.” His stress ticked up by 5 percent. Thirium stuttered in his artificial veins as his pump skipped a beat.
“Did you ever accept Cole’s death?”
A leaf skittered over and landed on the gravestone, covering up a portion of the lettering.
HANK AND—SON
Connor brushed the leaf away and closed his eyes. His LED cycled red.
Markus was right. It was going to take a long time.

"Delight" — Rhodey and Nebula
Nebula’s nose crinkled. "Seriously?"
"What? It's just candy."
"I meant—" Nebula’s eyes swept over the spookily decorated lake house— "a holiday for horror, and Terrans do… candy?"
"We'll find fun in anything." Rhodey grinned. "Reese's Cup?"
"I don't understand."
"You and Stark-baby are both experiencing your first Halloween, I get it. But believe me, the sweets are the best part."
"This 'Halloween' is meant to be delightful?"
"It can be. It's… embracing the scariness—"
"I do that."
"—and laughing."
"You lost me."
Rhodey chuckled. "Just take the candy, Blue."
Nebula hesitated. She wasn't used to… 'delightful.'
But she could try.

Day 10: Darkness
Tony could feel the darkness pulling at him as the voice passed him. Before death, it seemed that you could see the ones you loved one last time. He saw Rhodey and Pepper. He saw Happy and Bruce. He had teared up with Nebula. Peter though was the hardest. He was there when Peter had died. He had watched him die. Now seeing Peter in front of him hurt.
“Tony,” Peter said.
“Hey Kid,” Tony said, looking at the boy waiting for him to say something. With the others, they told him everything was going to be alright. It was starting to get darker though.
“Please don’t go,” Peter begged. Tony was surprised. Everyone else had let him rest but the kid wanted him to stay.
“I lost my parents, my uncle, and my second mom. I held my pretty much brother as we lost our parents. I lost a sister before she was born. I can’t lose another father. I can’t lose anyone else,” Peter said crying in front of him. The darkness was starting to fade as Tony looked around surprised.
“Please don’t leave me,” Peter begged. “I’ll start listening and I won’t get into trouble. I won’t mess up again.” Tony looked at the boy before pulling him into a hug. Holding onto his light in the darkness. The thing holding him.
“Don’t leave, Mechanic,” another voice said. Tony looked up to a young blond staring at him. It was Harley. He opened up his arms as the other boy came and held on to him.
“I can’t lose you,” Harley said. “You are the only father figure I have,” Harley said. Tony had tried with the boy and had made sure he had everything. He didn’t want to leave.
“Please don’t leave me,” Morgan said. “I’ll be good and go to bed when you ask.”
“I won’t leave,” Tony said pulling his daughter into the hug with the boys. The next thing Tony knew he was waking to a hospital room to three kids sitting around him waiting to hear from their father.

Platovember: Warmth
Takes place after the events of TDP S3 (ie, Wendy and Soren think Viren is dead). Wendy and Soren have returned to Katolis, and while that doesn’t mean everything is fine, at least they have each other.
Word count: 316
Content warning: None.
Tumblr media
Cold. Wendy woke up and she was cold.
But it wasn't really the temperature that made her shiver. She couldn't sleep, here, in the bed that they had shared...back before Viren had...
She threw off the covers, getting to her feet and draping a cloak over her pajamas.
How many nights had she laid awake hopelessly?
Without really thinking about where she was going, her legs began to move and she left the room. She walked the corridors and finally found herself in front of Soren's door.
Was she pathetic? She had tried to keep herself together as much as possible for Soren's sake. He was a good boy, and a strong boy, but surely even as he hid it he was suffering a lot. Would her coming here only disturb him? Would asking for his comfort when she was his parent be wrong-
The door opened and Wendy found herself meeting Soren's sleepy gaze.
"Oh. Hey, Mom." Soren blinked at her, rubbing at his eyes as if he didn't believe she was there. "Um,"
"Soren. I didn't expect to see you up." Wendy said, trying to cover up her shyness at being caught deliberating whether or not to call out to him. "Is something wrong?"
"Just...well, I mean...same question?" Soren replied, shrugging and looking at her a bit bashfully.
Wendy laughed. "Okay, fair. It's a little...embarrassing but, I...I can't seem to sleep. I was...I know it's been many years, since...since you were a kid, but..." She couldn't find the right words.
"I can't sleep either. It's weird, with them gone." Soren admitted. Wendy nodded. "I'll go with you. I bet that big bed is really empty without Da- without Vir- ...without him."
Wendy looped her arm into his. "Thanks, Soren." She was feeling warmer already.
For the first time since returning to Katolis, they would finally sleep well.
