thinking of actually making posts for all my fan playlists ive made over the past few years.. it feels like fanmixes are an almost dying breed nowadays but i still make them A LOT & many i spend a great deal of time and effort curating the mix based on not just lyrics but overall tone & then no one knows they exist bc the playlist search is impossible to use on spotify bc theres no tagging system..

technically 8tracks DOES still exist but idk how much ppl actually use it anymore since it plays ads like every 2 songs.

Rute misses just giving people .zips full of MP3s and a track list for intended order because like.... The better permanence of it all, Spotify and YouTube are both fickle, you have an MP3 as long as you keep track of it

i want to go back to downloading all of my music and carrying an MP3 player and not having spotify, but my current dilemma is that i have yet to find an MP3 player that will let me create playlists without redownloading songs. If anyone knows a workaround for this, because playlist and mixtape making is my bread and butter and the death of 8tracks and playmoss hit me hard, please let me know

I USED TO HAVE A TON OF MAKI SONGS IN MY PLAYLIST!!! too bad that playlist got deleted with playmoss. But here are some I remember off the top of my head: Constellations by The Oh Hellos (post-game Maki thinking of Kaito vibes), Hello My Old Heart by The Oh Hellos, Blow My Brain Out by Tickle Me, Incandescent by Melt/Meltberry/Meltycube, Haze by Tessa Violet, Rose Colored Boy by Paramore, uhhh possibly Bang Bang Bang Bang by Sohodolls, Jar of Stars by Melt/Meltberry, Cherry Autospy by Melt/Meltberry, Ursa Minor by Milky Way Chances (though this one maybe fits Kaito more), City Of Stars from Lalaland, uhm. Yeah. That's what I can think of off the top of my head!! They all have a Kaito/Maki bent to them, hope thats okay. I'm sure some purity ring songs might fit too but I can't remember any rn. I think there's also even more Melt/Meltberry/Meltycube songs that fit them but I can't think of them at the moment. I really like Melts music, tbh, she's(?) very underrated.

people in the replies of that post are like no & what if i just like the songs. and i am like, that isn't the point and also it's not even that serious! it's just a pet peeve, and i'm so glad others experience it because i thought my 8tracks spoiled ass was alone!

8tracks was such a magical time. there were such varied and beautiful playlists on there, they were even annotated in some cases, explaining what the song represented, different povs, the journey of the relationship, etc. it was such an experience. i even tried to use playmoss when it was a thing because i didn't want to lose the creators i followed. i found so many amazing songs during those days.

8tracks doesn't work too well on my phone these days, so i use spotify for most of my music. and i look up playlists for my introjects to help find them some music they may like or gravitate towards so they at least one comfort thing when they front for the first time (music is very significant to us). and some playlists are really fitting and good! but others you can tell are just slapped together and it does get frustrating for me for that reason...! well anyway. i rambled. it isn't that serious. but 8tracks spoiled me. i miss her.
