Many Palestinians in Gaza (talking ordinary ppl, not influencers or activists) have been raised not to engage with politics. [I add for clarity, this is their parents trying to keep them safe] and as such may not have followed Western politics for the past few years.

Palestinians living in Gaza, including his family, genuinely thought this ruling could end the ongoing genocide. They had real hope that the ICJ could save them.

Many Gazans' hopes have completely evaporated as a result of the ICJ not calling for a ceasefire.

The ICJ ruling is an important start, but it is not enough for the hundreds who are dying each day as a result of this occupation.

We need to keep helping Gaza in any way we can.

Please stop giving your leg amputees weird robot toes. I don't know why this is as much if a pet peeve to me as it is, but there's a reason why even the most advanced prosthetics irl don't have them and its not because the tech isnt there yet (kind of).

Making that many joints so close together is very difficult and will make the foot increadibly heavy for function that can mostly be replicated by a sheet of bendy carbon fibre (what irl prosthetic feet are usually made of). That many articulated joints are hard to control (even on hands, it's a challenge, and your hands dont have to weight bare), they will add a lot of weight, and will mean more power will be needed. Not to mention the joints would be points of weakness in an area that will be, at some stages in the walk cycle, bearing the majority of user's weight. Unless your character is going to be using their prosthetic feet as hands to grab things like that villain from Kim Possible, they are more trouble than they're worth, and your character doesn't need them.

And look, if the reason you want to give them robot toes is because you have a thing for feet... why did you make them a foot amputee, of all disabilities lol? Odd choices aside, if that's the reason, just be honest about it, because why else is it always "sexy cyborg" type characters that have them?

Joking aside, the goal of a prosthetic is not (usually) to look as similar to "the real thing" as possible, it's to improve mobility. As such, sometimes the best solution will not be what looks the most "normal with a robot aesthetic twist". In the event looking like the real thing is the main goal, we already have the tech for that. Many prosthetics have silicone covers that look so realistic you wouldn't be able to tell unless you can see the top of the socket (where the artificial limb meets the real thing) and you don't have to give up much mobility or functionality to use them, since that carbon fibre sheet I mention just gets hidden inside the cover.

Signed an amputee who finds your pudgy little foot fingers unsettling and wishes people would stop giving robot ones to characters unnecessarily for the sake of making something that looks "normal".

My bf has a (pretty great) friend group (one person in this group I believe I'm having the npd equivalent of a favorite person, I think he's really cool and I want to be associated with him) that I play dnd with on Fridays, and the dnd character I'm using in that game is one of my favorites. The dnd character is flexible in that they can be read as a joke character, but as time wears on and their 'bit' loses its novelty, they can become more and more serious in the way they can manifest, while still having the ability to still be comedic at times when it's thematically appropriate.

In this game, I was having one of my first really serious roleplay moments, and due to the person who takes my character the most serious being gone due to scheduling, the other people who were there took the situation as a joke and (unintentionally) essentially ruined a scene for me that I was really looking forward to.

In the past, these people have proven themselves to be incredibly understanding. I know logically if I come to them with a "hey, I know you see this character as a joke character, but I've been wanting to use him for more serious roleplay, we can still obviously have silly moments but at times can you let me have some more serious moments" they'd apologize and then just allow me to have the serious moments. They would not make a big deal out of it, they might not even bat an eye.

I'm dry heaving thinking about having that conversation. I want to devalue them in my head and leave all of them because I never needed them anyways and they don't deserve to be in my life. But I care about them enough and they've climbed up far enough in my brain hierarchy to where I can't devalue them in my head, which fucking sucks because that's my go-to coping mechanism that keeps me safe! I can't just leave them, either, because I want them in my life because I think that they are cool. And I really care what these people think of me, which is terrifying that someone else would have any kind of control over me. And I can't just continue to suffer on in silence like I usually would because I told my boyfriend about it and he said that I need to talk to them about it (because I do need to build up to where I can confront people about this kind of a thing healthily).

My brain is waiting for me to be emotionally vulnerable around people who I care what they think of me and is expecting for them to emotionally cripple me. I have multiple pieces of direct evidence that shows that they will not make a big deal about this. At All. There is legitimately no logical reason for me to be scared, at all! And I think the fact that I know I'm acting illogical is adding fuel to the fire.

I hate this so much. Since when did I decide to allow other people into my world, enough so they would get to know the real me, and would be able to have an opinion on me? I think my therapist was wrong, I'm going to hide my true self in a box again. It'd be way easier that way.

Fellow redditors who are new to Tumblr are welcome here, and while there aren't any moderated rules like in subreddits, there is a sort of social decorum that's pretty easy to pick up on.

Some tips if you're new though: - First of all: If you're new, for all the that is sensible in the world, change your icon, make a bio (doesn't have to be grand, but a little blurb is good), and/or make a post stating that you are not a bot, even if your blog is otherwise empty. This site is often plagued by spam bots, and blank blogs with default icons are often blocked out of self preservation by users.

- Second of all: Go add "X-kit Rewritten" (or "New X-kit") to your browser extensions.

- THIRDLY: You can follow tags and specific users to curate the content you want to see on your dash. Blocking doesn't stop you from seeing someone's content but you can add terms, tags, and names to your Blacklist (found in blog specific settings) and shield yourself a bit that way. If you have one of the extensions mentioned above, you can also block specific posts.

- Commit to the bit; If there's a joke, a bit, a playing going on, contribute (if you want to)! Makes it more fun.

- Nothing dies here. There are still posts from 2008 circling around and still making laughs. Don't worry about when a post was made, if you like it, reblog it!

- Reblog things!! No seriously, if you like something, the upvote system here is to reblog it so other people can see it. Likes are more like your private stash of posts you've liked or seen already (you can make likes and follows private in settings). Reblogs do not need a caption, if you've got nothing to say, don't. Lurk all you want, make your blog reblogs only, it's okay!

- Want to say something but don't want too much attention? Reblog and type in the tags area instead of the caption area. Doing this is more talking to yourself and maybe a few followers in spirit. If people like what you had to say, they'll add your tags to a post, just be aware. If you don't want that, a basic courtesy for yourself is to tag your post #do not reblog OR #Do not screenshot caption

- Tumblr tags can have spaces in them! They're separated by commas.

- You can make sideblogs! Got multiple interests but don't want them all in one big blog soup? Create a side blog to curate what you post and reblog. Make sure to use tags if you want that extra bit of organization.

THE SEARCH BAR

This search bar functions the same way as the search bar in the upper right corner of our main blog and the search function on Tumblr's mobile app.

Tumblr search allows you to generate results using keywords found in the body of the post or the tags. So, if you're looking for a post but can only remember it having the word "rotoscoping," you can type that in either in the directory's search or blog's search and find any post on our blog that mentions the exact keyword "rotoscoping."

Tags function differently from search keywords as these relate to exact words and phrases found only in the tags, not the body of the post.
