GLOBAL STRIKE FOR GAZA 1/21-1/28

Apologies for my delay in using my platform, I found out about this strike yesterday and was taking some time to figure out what to say

Palestine has been suffering long before October 2023 and I need everybody to understand that. There is a genocide happening right now and if people don't use their voices to speak up, then they will become a lost cause in our history. We do not want the stories of their people to be told 50 years from now with a side comment like "oh no I wish someone would've done something" or "I can't believe that actually happened." Our voices can spread like a wildfire, so I hope that everybody joins the global strike this week in support of Palestine and uses their voices, social media, platforms, etc to voice their support.

If you are unsure of where to start, I suggest reading up on the history of Israel's occupation of Palestine dating back to 1948. Here is a free PDF download of this book. To be honest, I have not finished reading this book yet, but it's been highly recommended to me by multiple people. Buying the book from the author would be better, but I understand that it's not within everybody's budgets which is why I included that link.

If you follow this link, this is a great guide on how to participate and support the strike this week. Doing every single thing is not realistic but do what you can and that is enough.

Here are some Palestinian journalists you can follow on Twitter, as they are the most reliable source. Many news sources worldwide have been misconstruing this "conflict" and completely ignoring the blatant genocide happening before our eyes. These journalists are Palestinian people who have been living this their whole lives (there are many more people and the Twitter thread can be viewed here)

Additionally, here are some other Twitter accounts that you can receive information from.

I urge everybody (art blogs, fandom blogs, etc) to put their interests on pause for the week and use that time to educate themselves on what's been going on for the last several years. This did not start in October. Keep speaking up and uplift Palestinian voices!

Ten years.

The first ever Gruvia Week was held in 2013. It is now 2023. Meaning, this is the 11th edition/Gruvia Week... but 10 years have passed since the creation of this blog and beloved event that’s been held on the exact same dates since the beginning (April 1st - April 7th). That’s right, the event date has never changed, never held early, nor late. To keep it this consistent and for so long is truly an accomplishment.

Thank you to all the wonderful fans that have kept this event alive for so long. It has been my pleasure to host this celebration for the last 10 years, and it’s because of you that I do so. All the dedicated Gruvia lovers deserve this. The fandom has changed a lot as time went on. People come and go. However, most notably, we have grown in more ways than one. Likewise, Gray and Juvia have gone through a tremendous amount of development in the last decade. They have confirmed mutual romantic love and a son that we have yet to meet in earthland, but still very much canon in the manga and drawn by the author (Hiro Mashima) of his own accord on multiple occasions. Despite this, we are still waiting for the day they “officially” get together. The setup and foreshadowing is there... He wants it, so Gray, confess to Juvia soon!

In the meantime, we celebrate the ship once again. Here are the official Gruvia Week 2023 prompts displayed in the image above. Just like in previous years these prompts are not complicated, but they are broad and meant to make you think. Be creative. Interpret them however you see fit. If you don’t know what a word means, look it up. Specific and basic prompts would result in different versions/entries of the same thing. The last few years Steve didn't seem the same; if when he woke up he thought he had lost everything, he had been wrong; he lost everything with the Snap.

He couldn't erase from his mind the scene from the last time he saw you. When the others began to fade away, you ran into his arms, terrified. He immediately embraced you, wanting to protect you; he even covered your face so that you would not continue to see, but he could do nothing when you began to disappear between his fingers.

The nights before you made the trip in time, he couldn't sleep; he couldn't stop remembering all the moments you had lived together and all the time you had lost because you weren't there.

Things were not supposed to be like this.

Two weeks after the Snap was supposed to be your wedding, because Thanos' attack shouldn't have happened, you had everything ready. The hardest thing for Steve was having to call to cancel everything. It didn't make sense for the wedding to go on if you weren't there.

And now he didn't know how to explain to you everything that had happened, although what he feared the most was that as soon as he saw you on the trip, he would run to hug you.

“I don't understand anything you're telling me, Steve; it's just not possible," you said, confused, after he explained what happened.

“What's the last thing you remember? “he questioned.

“I was hugging you, and then everything went dark. I opened my eyes, and you weren't there," you answered.

“You know I would never leave you, right?"

You nodded. He hugged you. It seemed completely implausible what he had told you, but the evidence was irrefutable. Steve had been living in a nightmare for the last five years. Now, what would you do?

“How about a trip? We can move up the honeymoon," Steve proposed.

“All the dates are booked, right? We'd gone to so much trouble to plan everything," you said, disappointed.

“The only thing that matters to me is that you're here, and now we have a chance to make up for all the time we lost.

“Tell me more about the trip," you asked.

“Have you ever been in space?" Steve asked.

“Is that a tricky question?"

“No, I'm serious."

"No, I've never been."

“I'll take care of showing you how wonderful it is." His voice was beginning to sound full of excitement; he hadn't felt that way in a long time.

“And how are we supposed to go? Will the raccoon take us?" You were confused; at first, you thought he was joking, but it seemed he was serious.

“No, we'll take one of Tony's ships. I don't think he'll mind; he's too busy with his family."

You grimaced. Sure, everything was different, but it was too strange to hear.

You started packing your bags; what were you supposed to need in space? You didn't know exactly what to put; the internet wasn't much help at that time either; there was no information about it. You took the sunblock just in case; you were going to be near the sun, weren't you?

If someone had told you about this trip a few years ago, you would have laughed and thought you were joking.

The readjustment had been somewhat difficult, but Steve didn't leave you alone for a single moment; he was so determined to help you. He was trying very hard to make up for all the time you had lost.

You had only found a date for your wedding a year later, although that would give them some freedom to reinvent the whole plan you had. So while Steve was right that you could move up the honeymoon, you'd also have to admit that not just anyone would take your fiancée on such a unique trip.

The feeling when you left Earth was inexplicable; your perspective had changed, and it was so much more beautiful than how it looked from the ground. You turned to look at Steve, who, since you took off, had not let go of your hand.

Maybe you could stay; you didn't need you at the compound; you could live peacefully in space, making up for lost time and feeling infinite.

He began to tell you what he felt the first time he made that trip, although he kept repeating that nothing was the same without you.

You looked into his eyes, and you smiled. His eyes matched perfectly with the scenery that surrounded them.

When you saw that he stabilized the ship, you stood up, pulled his arm, gave in somewhat confusedly, and put one of his hands on your shoulder and the other on your waist.

“What are you doing? “he asked.

“Shh, don't talk; you're ruining the moment," you answered.

You leaned on him and started to dance. It didn't matter that there was no music; you could pretend there was.

You could pretend you were dancing your wedding waltz.

It wouldn't matter how much time passed, whether it was minutes or hours; all you wanted was to be able to be like this for eternity.

Steve was going to make sure that nothing would ever separate them again; he was going to do whatever it took to make you happy.

My proposal: Two hastags for fan engagement

I noticed we tend to dominate the trending sections every Thursday across social platforms (as we should) but it's usually after the episode comes out.

Which understandable.

I've had this idea rattling around since I started watching live on Twitter and have seen that we're taking over the trending tags🤣.

I want to start a fan hashtag/space.

So here's my proposal.

#911 ThrowbackTuesday (and what it entails.

I thought it'd be fun to have the og/older fans telling stories about the fandom, information we won't know, the best personal episode and other info for the influx of new fans. (And who doesn't love to reminisce about the good old days?)

For rewatches and comments

The popular theories of the past (and how wrong or right they were and how funny it was when it was our wasn't proven)

Older blog posts that relates to older episodes

Older Twitter accounts that were popular/were can see what it was like when it started airing.

Old cast photos (please we need them for pfps and other reasons...)

#911ThursdayTakeover

Legendary fan photos (aka tweets etc)

During rewatches acting like it's new info can be really funny too

Interacting with new fans about stuff that happened during the original airing.

I find it fun personally to hear stuff from the older fans and they get to share their excitement and new fans can get it because most of us didn't get the fun of the past seasons.

It's a way to bridge the gap (not that there's one really) and have all fans come together and be unhinged together.

It's a yap fest. 🤗 And what a beautiful one it will be...

And then there's,

ThursdayTakeover is the biggest one.

I have ideas for the drought we're having and we can keep it on trending at least, as it brings good attention and new fans (and subsequently more seasons yes it's all coming together).

There's two protocols I've cooked up.

The drought version (aka now)

This version is dedicated to the present and future of 911. The hastag can be used to post on any day but it's like a little notebook for all things unhinged before new episodes come out.

For when the shows not airing it'll be this:

Theories about future episodes

Meta (all the juicy meta your heart desires)

Current fan works based in the present or future episodes (this includes fanfics, fan art etc)

Spec fics/sneak peek of current work

Regular media sharing

I think this would be easy as I noticed it's a bit hard to navigate specific fan works and information during airing/older posts when using Tumblr due to it not having a specific date system.

This way it kind of lets you put it all in one beautiful hastag that you can scroll for hours and know what exactly is going to be going on.

I'd just like an archive or sorts as it is a bit hard to put together information as a new fan.

For when it's airing it's a bit different.

It'll be from before the show starts business as at usual there's no need to really worry about trending as it'll do it regardless, but I'm the case is the hashtag if it's a takeover then we have to really takeover. Like all day.

This applies to the hours before we watch on airing days:

Theories/discussions about airing episodes (then after discussing whether or was right or wrong and clowning your theories/the unhingedness of it all)

Sneak peeks /media

Using the hastag to let everyone know what's up and the timeline WILL be flooded with our fruity family that we love and adore🥰

I only thought of this idea because I'm interested in promoting/helping out with the visibility and stuff (free marketing am i right?)

I haven't been able to fan girl about stuff in a while and feel really welcome and happy because of this show.

It really gives me something to look forward every week to see what the show creates and after the joy the fans share with each other.

You guys are the best! 🤗

Still this is my offering back because this show really changed my life as it gives me something to look forward to every week like an anchor.

every single person with an instagram account needs to go follow motaz (@/motaz_azaiza) on there immediately. i wont lie, the videos and pictures he is posting are horrifying. he is showing us dead bodies of children, hands, arms, legs, and torsos ripped violently from the rest of the bodies. hes showing us people with broken bones sticking out of their legs. hes showing us fires. hes showing us collapsed buildings. hes showing us deaths more painful and violent than most of us could ever imagine.

it is so incredibly painful, but we have to watch. watching reporters like bisan (@/wizard_bisan1) are important too, of course, but i think a lot of people are only watching those reports, where, most of the time, its filmed like a (very somber and horrifying) vlog. they show the bombings and atrocities, but not to the same level. accounts like bisan's keep us informed and up to date on the movements and actions of israel and on the suffering of the people moving from place to place because they are constantly being driven further away from their homes, and motaz's show us the horrible aftermath. today alone he showed us dozens of dead and dying bodies, people trapped under rubble, and dismembered body parts flung from the bodies they belonged to. both types are so important to watch, and we cant choose the ones that are "easier" just because we are uncomfortable

its so so important that we see it, all of it. we have to be willing to watch, however horrifying it is, because we cannot allow this event to be erased from history. we cannot turn away out of discomfort when the people of palestine are being forced to live through this.

go follow every palestinian reporter you can find, and then actually watch, all the way through, ANY content they post. they are risking their lives to show us what is happening there (literally, reporters and press and their families have been targeted by the iof for showing us whats really happening), and they deserve to be listened to. if you know of any others, please let me know who and what platform so i can follow them, its so important that we get out news from the source. im only following bisan and motaz rn bc those are the only accounts ive seen, but i know there are more.

dont take your eyes off of palestine. they need us to see whats happening to them

Reminders for the upcoming TS4 update!

Simmers, the new expansion pack For Rent comes out on December 7th and as we all know, big updates can mess with your game especially if you use mods. I've learned my lesson from the last few updates and I'd like to give some suggestions to help!

Note: I use the EA App for Sims 4, on a Windows computer. The methods I describe here will probably not apply to MAC users. I also don't know if these work for pirated games so just be careful!

-BACK UP YOUR SAVES. Just in case your save gets corrupted or the update somehow manages to lose your saves (this has happened to me- after the update, my saves were gone). Here's what I do:

Navigate to your "Sims 4" folder. In my case it's Documents>Electronic Arts>Sims 4.

Find your "saves" folder and right-click to copy it.

Paste your copy of your saves folder to your desktop (some people paste to their external hard drive as well, but I'm not sure how to do this)

Right click on your copy to rename it. It's a good idea to write the date on which you copied your folder. Here's my current backup:

Your saves are now backed up! If you lose your files in the game or they become corrupted, open up your backup folder, then select and copy all the files in the folder and then paste them into your actual saves folder. Your saves will then be restored! You should do this every so often just in case. I try and back up my saves once a month.

-Turn off automatic updates. This way you can choose when to update your game. I personally wait until mod creators start updating their mods and then update the game.

Open the EA App and head to your settings, then the "downloads" tab.

Turn off the "update games automatically" option.

When you're ready, update the game and enjoy!

-Follow mod creators on social media. If you use mods, it's a good idea to keep up with updates and what the creators are up to. When there's a huge Sims update, many mods (especially script mods) tend to break and need to be updated by the creators. Keeping up with them allows you to see what their plans are for updating the mods. Creators use many different platforms, but from what I've seen most tend to use Tumblr, Patreon, and Twitter/X to post updates. If I find a mod I really like, I always follow the creator. They also deserve tons of support for their amazing work!

-Know which mods are broken and updated. In addition to following mod creators, there are multiple threads that log all mods with each update. They tell us which mods are broken, which are updated, and which were unaffected by the update. If you're experiencing a glitch with a mod, you can report it on these threads. Here are examples of threads from previous updates:

Always check these before writing to an official Sims/EA forum about a glitch. If you use script mods, the bugs you're experiencing will most likely be from these mods. Also, if you use UI mods like UI Cheats, don't freak out if your UI looks like this:

Your game isn't corrupted, the mod is just outdated. UI Cheats almost always breaks after a big update. The creator of UI Cheats updates frequently, so make sure to check up on their Patreon page.

-Check in with the community if you have a bug. The Sims Forums, r/Sims4 on Reddit, and Simblr are good places to go if you have a question about a bug you're having. r/Sims4 was a lifesaver for everyone who had the dreaded tooth glitch in Growing Together. If you're having a non-mod related bug, chances are others are having it too, so don't feel afraid to ask!

I hope this helps some of my fellow simmers. Good luck with the new update and pack, I can't wait to see how my favorite Simblrs use it in their stories and gameplays!💖

"You promised."

"I know but," he sighs and runs a hand through the hanging loops of hair that fell from his fringe, tightening a fist around a handful and tugging out of frustration, "baby, I know."

"But?"

For a moment, he's confused.

"I'm sorry?"

"You said a but in the middle there. But what, Harry? What's more important than coming home for your girlfriend's birthday? A party that you helped me organise. That you helped me prepare for. That you said you were excited for and would be here for," there's anger lacing her words. She's not even trying to hide away the upset she feels coursing through her, filling her veins with red-hot anger that's making her shake in her place in her kitchen entryway, "you promised me, Harry, so there shouldn't be a but in that sentence."

"It's work."

"Again. It's always work, Harry."

"What's that supposed to mean?"

"It means I'm always second best to you. Work, work, work. That's all it is. You cancel on me for work. Date nights are cut short because of work. You're late home because of work. It's always work."

"They pay my bills, YN. That's my job. That's my life."

"And I'm not?"

"For Christs sake," he groans heavily, rolling his head back on the ball of his neck and staring at the ceiling above him. He wants to shout at her and he wants to swear at her (not that he would ever air any of their grievances in front of his crew nor in front of his friends) and he wants to grab her by the shoulders and push it into her head, but he couldn't because she was thousands of miles away. "you're putting words into my mouth, YN. That's not anything close to what I'm saying."

The silence from her end makes his chest ache; how could she?

When work called, it was hard for him to say no. When he had fans to please and travel the world to see, radio stations and televised interview to promote his music or his tours, meetings to excel his career, even when Jeffrey was on his case after he just needed a second to breathe. Work was part of him but his girlfriend was his number one; his top priority.

Every spare minute he had, every second that passed, was given to her.

"Babe-"

"Don't, Harry. Just don't."

The anger is still there but he can hear the tears building up in her throat. The anger-fuelled, upset, disappointed tears that he knows are already dribbling down her cheeks. Her speech restricted, the words sounding tight as they rolled off her tongue.

"I'm not ending this conversation like this," he gulps thickly, "please."

"You're going to be late for your show. I'm doing you a favour."

"You're not-"

"Bye, Harry."

"I love you."

The dial tone sounds and, in that moment, his heart truly does break.

Twitter was chaotic.

YN had discovered that throughout her relationship with Harry. She still used it and refused to let the negativity get between what she still had a habit for. She still scrolled her dashboard when she was in a nosey mood. And she still put out the occasional tweet when she was in the mood to interact with the numerous tweets she was tagged and mentioned in.

He never wanted social media to become something she couldn't use because of him and he was glad she still had a platform to air her voice and be who she was.

@/Harry_Styles crying at tonight's show had to be the most upsetting thing i've witnessed.

Crying?

The thumping of her heart increased as she read more and more of her mentions. Her timeline full of Harry's show in Toronto; from the outfit he wore to the songs he sung to the small interactions he had with fans as he danced and pranced around on stage.

The more she scrolled, the closer she got to finding what had truly happened.

Tears in his eyes, wet cheeks and a shake in his voice as he sang the words to a song he'd sung multiple times over the last few months. A song that didn't hold a meaning behind it that was as deep as people assumed, a song that wasn't meant to bring a tear to anyone's eyes, a song that was used before the encore of his most loved hits that left everyone on a high.

So to see him upset, which rarely happened, flooded her with guilt.

Unsure as to why she felt such a strong urge to scold herself in that moment because why was she feeling so guilty when she had done nothing wrong?

The way Harry speaks about @/yourtwitter is so sweet. He loves her so much. He really found a good one. YN has no idea how lucky she truly is.

The video plays before her. His voice booming round the quiet stadium, after he'd asked everyone to be silent, and he can't seem to hold back on the emotion he holds deep in his chest.

"I'm just like any normal boyfriend. I'm terrible at keeping promises. But I can tell you this one thing, about her, and that's the fact that she's kept me grounded the last few years. She never let me become someone I'm not. She let me become someone I long to be. Never changed me, never told me to like something because I needed to, I am who I am because of her."

She rolls her eyes but the slightest hint of a smile twitches her lips.

"I love her, I hope you guys love her," he's interrupted for a brief second as the arena erupts into cheers, "and I thank the lucky stars that I have her."

Her bottom lip quivers and, maybe... just maybe... she didn't need to overreact sometimes. Because she was a fool to think he would do anything to upset her on purpose, to think he never cared for her, that he never thought of her when she wasn't around. Because he did. Even in a stadium full of people, fans who had paid to see him, he was still missing her and thinking of her. xx

RECENT NEWS, RESOURCES AND STUDIES, early February 2023 (Part 1)

Yes, my latest news update is finally out - at least the first part of it. So much has gone on that breaking it into 2 parts seems like the best option for ease of reading.

So the following contains the top news stories, all of the Etsy news, and general SEO information. The next update (coming in the next few days) will cover everything else that happened between the end of November and now.

Since I am still a bit worried that Twitter will become unusable, I’ve begun posting more timely updates on LinkedIn, so please follow or connect with me there!

TOP NEWS & ARTICLES

As you may know, Royal Mail was hit by a ransomware attack that has restricted their incoming and outgoing international mail. Most international mail can now be sent, but things are still slow. Note that items entering the UK may also have taken longer than usual in the past month.

Etsy is continuing to refund buyers out of seller funds when cases are opened on orders $250 and up, even when tracking says the packages were delivered and some even signed for. I posted several of the Etsy forum threads and screenshots of deleted threads on Twitter. While many shop owners have received full refunds from Etsy after complaining, some of the recent examples are only getting 50% of the order value back. Let Etsy know what you think in this survey. Even orders below $250 are coming under additional scrutiny, with this news investigation [video and text] regarding a vintage shop that Etsy issued automatic refunds for without allowing the seller to comment on the cases. I am writing a blog post on the topic, so if you or anyone you know has been affected, please email me with the details - I promise to keep your details confidential if you wish.

Americans who made at least $600 on a marketplace or through a payment processor/app in 2022 will not be receiving 1099-Ks for that income after all - the IRS has delayed that change for one year. The main reason seems to be the huge amount of new paperwork required for the platforms.

ETSY NEWS

Etsy has had a bizarre checkout bug that only affects a tiny percentage of shops for a few weeks now with no sign of a solution for most of them. Shockingly, Support told one affected buyer “to go to another Etsy seller"!

Hidden as a post in the Technical Issues section of the forum, Etsy announced that some non-US sellers would need to verify their bank accounts in 2023. They state that shops which opened after November 2020 do not need further verification, so I assume that means all of us non-US sellers who had to re-verify last year are ok as well.

If you use the private listing option (even after Etsy removed most of the functionality), beware that those listings do not have a way to add estimated delivery times or return policies before publishing, so you need to rush to add them afterwards before the listing is purchased, or you lose seller protection.

Etsy is testing (or doing a very slow rollout of) letting buyers make an offer on listings, but very few people have it. I did posts with a screenshot on LinkedIn, my Twitter account, and the Etsy Sellers subReddit. Here’s the Etsy forum thread started by someone who spotted this option.

The “Updates to Etsy Search” article that came out mid-January is mostly coverage of things they did a few months ago, including an Add to Cart button in search, displaying the time remaining on expiring sales, video autoplay, and the Star Seller filter [don’t worry, the last one is hidden under the main filter button, so most visitors will never even see it]. They also mentioned the estimated delivery dates being displayed in search, but I haven’t seen that for at least a few weeks; right now I only see the filter they have had for a few years. [It’s pretty embarrassing when they make an announcement like this and it isn’t accurate - and they don’t even bother to correct it.] Remember, none of these things directly affect the ranking algorithm, and the elements of Star Seller - reviews, shipping on time and answering Messages promptly - are all part of the algorithm already, the latter 2 because they are part of the seller service level standards. If you are worried about the Star Seller filter, also remember that breaking any Etsy policy/rule can negatively affect your Customer & Marketplace Score. “to determine a shop’s Customer & Market Experience Score, Etsy considers a variety of factors that make up overall shop quality, including user reviews of products, whether or not a shop has completed an about section or its shop policies (e.g. returns), whether or not the shop may be able to fulfill orders in a timely fashion, and whether or not the shop may have violated any Etsy policies.” [my emphasis]

January’s category updates includes 2 types of bags, plus changing “unisex” kids and baby clothing categories to “gender neutral”.

The workaround to keep old written shop policies is now being removed, with many of us losing those old policies recently. You may be able to find caches on Google or Bing if you look quickly. Forum discussion thread. If you need to link to your new stripped down policies or your FAQs, here is how.

Etsy is being sued for allegedly allowing counterfeit cashmere items on the site; expect the bots to start taking down anything with the word “cashmere” next.

Etsy’s legal policies now include a page explaining their prohibition on “unsafe or recalled products” and including links to rules and reporting procedures for many countries’ reporting procedures. Recent recalls affecting Etsy include children’s pyjamas from Selfie Craft Company, and a baby rattle sold in one Etsy shop only.

In the “bad publicity” category, part 1: US federal prosecutors say that an Etsy shop was used as a front for smuggling weapons components to the Russians. While the shop didn’t sell anything like that, they did sell gift baskets with commercial components, so Etsy could have avoided this bad press by following their own rules and shutting this shop down far earlier. Bad publicity, part 2: A shop's atrocious customer service went viral on TikTok, which then garnered more media coverage. That shop better be careful, because Harry Styles was already suing ecommerce sellers over products with his name and likeness (including on Etsy).

Also on the infringement front: Disney is suing a couple who have sold infringing items on multiple ecommerce platforms for years, including Etsy and eBay. My Twitter thread has screenshots of some of the products sold on Etsy.

Etsy’s new Chief Legal Officer used to hold a similar role at Facebook.

Etsy Strike spinoff group Artisans Cooperative is hoping to launch a new marketplace this fall, and now has organizing support from the US Federation of Worker Cooperatives, including funding from the USDA Rural Cooperative Development Grant Program.

Etsy trend “predictions” for 2023 include 2 colours (indigo and honeycomb), marble decor, and “over-the-top” wedding looks. They provide some search trends from August to October on Etsy, so check out what people have been searching for!

Note that that trends post is different than this one, which includes more detailed search trends and addresses shopping holidays. For example, “56% YoY increase in searches on Etsy containing “personalize gift mom”. You also need to know that there was “1420% YoY increase in searches on Etsy containing “hot pink decor”.

Etsy loves running tests so much they give out trophies for starting the most.

This article [soft paywall; Modern Retail] says that holiday sales were down on Etsy, but Etsy hasn’t released any numbers yet.

This is perhaps my favourite Etsy story ever: how an unusual custom order ended up seen by millions as it hangs on the International Space Station.

SEO: GOOGLE & OTHER SEARCH ENGINES

Everyone selling online loves December algorithm updates, so Google started rolling out a new Helpful Content Update around December 6. “Google said this update will "tackle content that seems to have been primarily created for ranking well in search engines." Both the Helpful Content and Link Spam updates finished rolling out on January 12.

Ahrefs has updated its link building chapter in the Beginner’s Guide to SEO. “Links are incredibly important for ranking well. And it is quite rare that you will outrank pages that have a lot of strong links—unless you get just as many.”

Understanding basic Google SEO is not enough to have a successful website; understanding how to structure your website is also crucial. For more on that, here’s another article on pillar pages and topic clusters [semi-advanced; you need some basic knowledge of website structure and SEO to fully grasp everything.]

There’s often confusion on long tail keywords and how to use them - this article should clear that up.

EAT has become EEAT: Google search quality raters now evaluate “experience, expertise, authoritativeness and trustworthiness” instead of just the last 3. “Google explained that there are “some situations where really what you value most is content produced by someone who has first-hand, life experience on the topic at hand.”

Repeat after me and Google’s John Mueller: the number of times a word/phrase is used on a page (aka keyword density) is not a positive Google ranking factor.

Also, readability ratings do not affect Google ranking either, and John Mueller confirmed that as well. Writing for your intended audience is important, however, and that can include some elements of “readability”.

Using artificial intelligence (AI) to write articles for websites is not against Google rules, but using AI just for SEO purposes is. Not surprisingly, more than one media site is already using AI to write content with SEO in mind: CNET is no longer solely about tech news, for example, and the articles apparently have a lot of plagiarism. Should Google be doing more to stop this junk from ranking? Maybe not - they are already working on using it themselves.

Speaking of AI writing, Search Engine Land did an overview of ChatGPT and how it may affect the SEO industry.

Yandex (Russian search engine) had all of its source code leaked. This Twitter thread goes through the different ranking factors and compares them to Google in particular.

Yahoo Search is making a comeback. No, really. They are even hiring!

aww im honored!

To be truthful, I don't spend much time on any other social media, so I don't have much experience! But in comparison with insta and pinterest, there's far less reason to use the for you tab. Obviously staff has pushed it in recent updates, but it still holds true, at least for me. I think a big draw for me is the built-in customization in general, with tools for making personal blog themes and post tools.

Since I don't use anything but Tumblr, It can be a little hard to connect with my peers who use Twitter or Snapchat, as we don't really have many other ways to connect outside of e-mail or text, which I think have fallen off in popularity with the rise of social media.

I think Tumblr satisfies my parasocial needs pretty well! I think because of the customization you can accumulate a following that's pretty chill. And if there are weirdos, you can block them very easily.

I've prattled on and on about about how cool customizing most aspects of your experience here is, but to reassert my love for it: When customization goes; I go.

While I have some experience with HTML, I might not make my own website on Neocities or a similar platform. I would probably make a Pintrest again. But if they make it so you can register an e-mail to a Neocities domain I'd be down.

I think Tumblr users like to self-aggrandize so I think most of our traditions and mechanics could be understood by other platform's users... Though maybe a lack of algorithms? I hear a lot of people talking about for you pages on other social media. But again, Tumblr's pushed the for you tab instead of the dash, so I'm not sure that's going to be a distinction for much longer...

8. I don't participate in fandom so I wouldn't know! That's not to say that I don't ever see anything from fandom, but really I'm not sure if I'm missing out on anything. I'm content with the content I do see. I guess you could say I'm part of the "My friends" fandom ^-^.

9. While there's plenty of academic discussion on Tumblr, I don't think there's a replacement to more genuine methods of education. However, there have been things I've been informed of through Tumblr, such as posts summarizing and linking news articles, scientific journals, etc. and methods of accessing them (such as 12ft). In that regard, I suppose that Tumblr has been a fine source of education and keeping up-to-date, though it's far from perfect.

10. I think being able to curate my experience has helped make me less tolerant of ads, weird posts, and other distractions. But I think the greatest impact it's had on me has been all the friends I've made.

I don't understand why they make a lot of drama over Haley (beyond my opinion of her).

i don't know if when you say ''you always believed them'' you are directly referencing me, but if you are.. i think you must have missed some key conversations that have been had over the course of these past few months. i understand that some unscrupulous people surmise that since i believe evan/haley have been dating, i must have come to this conclusion as a result of blindly believing in the ~*all-knowing deuxmoi*~, but that is not the case. never has been, and i am far too knowledgeable about the celebrity gossip world to do that lmfao i have always said that folks need to be discerning and understand that deuxmoi is a gossip site. if we want to get to the nitty gritty, the most reliable haley/evan information we have received outside of the photo deuxmoi posted of them together has come from twitter, not deuxmoi. so let's trash that misleading narrative.

i have probably said the same thing 100 times - essentially, time will tell. let things play out as they will. no one is marrying evan off, asserting haley is his endgame, and no one is claiming to be in bed with the two of 'em. this is a discussion blog and we're all allowed to have our own opinion on the matter, but anyone who has their panties in a bunch over their love life only feels that way because they're jealous the single celebrity they've been enjoying a parasocial relationship with (evan) just shattered their fantasy, and now they have to come up with a rebuttal to every fact or theory that negates their made-up scenario that evan peters is going to meet and fall in love with them. i have tried to be genuinely understanding of the otherwise sweet, kind-hearted folks who have struggled with this news, but i have no patience at all for the petulant children who act out like toddlers who had their toy taken away from them.

SIDE NOTE: i really, really want people to stop thinking of deuxmoi as this mystical figure in the night roaming around hollywood to gather up gossip. i have said this over and over, please understand that deuxmoi is not a singular person, who exists like a tree with branches all across hollywood. deuxmoi operates based on reader submissions. you saying ''you believe deuxmoi'' is like saying ''you believe twitter''. twitter is made up of users. millions of users. yes, some users on both platforms have posted information that is credible. some beautiful users like tumblr mystery girl have also misused the platform to lie. this is the nature of it. use good judgment and you won't get caught slippin'.

yeah i have to think that the novelty of dating him or just being around him might wear off quick depending on the person’s personality 💀 especially for someone already as famous and successful as lily james. he doesn’t really have anything that she can’t already get for herself so she doesn’t have to force herself to tolerate him for some benefits lmao

i’ve never been a marvel fan or in marvel circles so i remember my honest first impression of chris wasn’t stellar and i honestly couldn’t understand all the hype around him. yes he’s attractive but the way people talk you would think he’s literally the only attractive man ever to exist and there’s no man that surpasses or even matches his attractiveness it’s so wild. like it was genuinely very confusing to me???? i was like lowkey this man looks like a pencil what are you seeing please

but i was like this many people can’t be wrong right? and maybe i’m just being overly judgmental so i watched some of his interviews and i thought this man is a little phony like his laughing where he clutches his left pec is a bit over the top and the way he would talk over people was a bit questionable at times but then i watched some of his more reflective stuff and i know he wasn’t saying anything hugely profound but i was like huh maybe there is another side to him and he genuinely has a desire to explore “deeper” topics and he’s not just a basic white bread overgrown disney kid with basic tastes 💀 mind you this was covid so like i had time lmao

so i started warming to him because i admired the thoughtfulness i thought i saw in him and i was like maybe his big ass laughing is genuine and he really is just that joyous and dorky and dumb in a jumbo way and maybe i just can’t relate because we’ve had different life experiences and i started to see him differently especially when i saw his interactions with scott and lisa i was like ohhhh that’s just how your family is valid plus when he was being so vocal about social justice issues i was like okay maybe you alright white man. i liked that he had such a sense of justice and connection to humanity and what was right and wrong that he felt compelled to speak even though he did not need to. ohhh you’re gonna make a whole ass political platform even though you’re not a politician because you’re just that passionate? wow okay respect 🫡

I had been into Chris for a while, I witnessed him dating Minka and everything; never got in the depths of the fandom tho, I guess lurking never piqued my interest. And through the years my attention to him has swayed on and off.

My impression of him is that I found him endearing and sounded like a genuinely nice guy (and maybe he is, specially in a social level) and honestly I enjoyed his movies; to this day I think that as an actor he had or has potential to be better. And of course he’s done things that at first glance can easily charmed the public into thinking he’s very unique; for example having a political platform and being outspoken about certain things; he’s the guy with the cute dog that he rescued; it might sound silly but I genuinely liked him dating age appropriate women, I did think that little fact set him apart and (the worst of all, now I understand how this isn’t necessarily a nice/kind pov) dating Jenny did wonders for his image somehow, I vividly remember talking to another fan about this, how non-superficial he was for dating her, that it showed he valued character and personality the most 🤩

Maybe the peer pressure worked on me too 😂 I don’t think he’s the devil or anything; I would say he’s just disappointing; and I see character flaws coming to the surface right now, stuff that do not necessarily align with how he was portrayed, plus learning and rethinking other things. I definitely do not see him the same way anymore. I mean at the end it’s his life and he doesn’t owe strangers anything; but I guess we are also in the court of public opinion.

Minors - If you're a minor do not message me, and do not interact with any NSFW content I create. I am an adult, and I do write some stuff rated T, but a vast majority of my work is rated M or E and intended for an adult audience only.

Critique - Critiques of my work are fine, though I'd prefer to not see it(don't tag me etc). Tip - Compliment sandwiches are your friend. Anything that is overly negative/harassment in comments will be deleted. Keep things civil and within reason and we'll be fine. I have thick skin, but I do this for fun and don't have time for this type of thing. If there is a serious error in a fic feel free to dm me about it.

Inspired works - if for some reason one of my works inspires you to create your own thing(art, fic, headcanon, etc), awesome! Please tag me and stuff, I wanna see it. Wanda was confused by everything Clint had bought to celebrate Halloween; it was the first time she would celebrate Halloween in that country. She was very curious to see all those allusive candies; they didn't have anything like that in Sokovia.

"Have you decided what you are going to dress up as?" Clint asked.

"What for? What do you need so much candy for?" Wanda was completely confused. She would really like her twin to be there with her, but he was on a mission.

"The candy is for the children," Clint answered as if it were too obvious.

"For your children? Isn't that a lot of sugar?" She started to panic because there were at least fifteen bags of candy, but she was sure there would be more.

"No, they're for the children who come trick-or-treating." Clint was starting to feel puzzled.

"Trick or treat?"

"Didn't they do that in Sokovia?" Clint finally asked.

"We never go out on All Hallow’s Eve; the evil spirits go out on the streets and take everyone; I know they took some people away," Wanda started to explain. She remembered that especially parents avoided children going out on that night; the streets were always lonely on that date.

"They were probably just legends," Clint said; he had heard many, many stories in the past.

"No, they weren't. Once, when I was a child, I looked out the window and saw them. That night, I begged my parents to let me sleep with them; I was so terrified," Wanda assured.

"I assure you nothing bad will happen," Clint told her with a fatherly tone. Here, children dress up and go trick-or-treating; sometimes they even compete for who will get the most.

Clint really believed that these were rumors, and probably some people were taking advantage of the legends.

"What if they don't get candy?" Wanda asked.

"Treat."

"Treat?"

"The children do something mischievous, like cover the front of the house with toilet paper or throw eggs or something like that," Clint explained.

"That's kind of rude."

Clint lifted his shoulders, never having thought about it. When he was a child, he always got candy, so he never did any of the other stuff, just like whenever his children went trick-or-treating, they always got too much. When the conversation was over, she went to the costume store. Maybe it was a good idea for her to celebrate it as they did in America; probably the others would see to it that Pietro had the same experience.

As soon as she returned, he gave her the costume; after she put it on, she walked out and looked confused at Clint as he was holding a bowl of candy.

"So, what am I supposed to do?" Wanda kept looking at the bowl of candy.

"When the children knock on the door and say the phrase, you open and offer them the bowl with candy; they will take some. Just watch because sometimes one just wants to take all the candy, and you make some cute comments to them about their costumes," Clint explained, and she nodded.

Wanda walked nervously in front of the door. She didn't know if they had an exact time or how it really worked, but she jumped when she heard the first ring.

"Did you have fun?" Clint asked Wanda after the last child left.

"It was interesting."
