Hob knew he was being watched.
He looked down, with the kind of unerring instinct that he had never really lost. Yep, there the little one was, black hair all mussed from sleep, big blue eyes blinking wetly and that very familiar Pout.
Oh dear. This was a Problem. And Hob was helpless to resist that Pout, whether it happened to be on this little boy's face or a Certain Other Fellow's.
"What's wrong, m'lad? Shouldn't you be with your Papa?" Hob leaned over to pick the little boy up, smoothing over the unruly hair and settling him on his lap.
A small hand fisted into his shirt. "Fairies." The little boy said clearly. "Papa sent me 'way. Not safe."
"Ah. Well, you'll keep your old Dad company then while I teach, hm?"
The Pout transformed into the most adorable wee smile. "SHAXBERT YUCKY!"
Hob laughed. "That's my boy!"
The Zoom class was a complete Squee Apocalypse, with his students cooing over the baby. Dream was hard pressed not to laugh when he came in just in time to hear their son yell "SHAXBERT YUCKY!!!" once again.
But it was worth it.

Oh god, it's 2010 again and my brain's on fire with ArthurEames bunnies... *releases this one back into the wild*
I personally see it as an Arthur type skill that would break Eames were he lucky enough to witness it, but similarly Eames had to come into his massive shoulders from some awesome activity along the way... perhaps its a carefully kept secret... who knows? Run FREE lil plot bunny, go bite other folks and incept them into writing you... ;)

Moshang plot bunny
I have this plot bunny, which can become either a comic or a fic but I don't know yet. It just won't leave me alone but it's still vary vague so I cannot start working on it.
It's basically a hurt/comfort, angsty story, title 'Nobody Likes Shang Qinghua. And that's okay!' Except, obviously it's not.
People only interact with SQH when they want something but they tend to avoid him as a person. LBH, his 'son', simply cannot stand him, mainly due to SQH relationship with his husband. Airplane considers Cucumber-bro as his best friend though he knows perfectly well that it's not the same for Cucumber. He is just a servant to Mobei Jun, while Mobei Jun is his entire world. Etc. You get the idea.
Except that's not entirely true. This is all only SQH's point of view. For so long he had to deal with people who didn't care much about him - his parents and half-siblings, his new parents and new siblings, martial and otherwise. Himself - he is perfectly aware of all his flaws and shortcomings. He knows he is a coward, and a sell-out, he talks too much and is too clingy. He is just deeply unpleasant person to associate with, so obviously, nobody would actually like him.
But people do like him. Sure, LBH finds him annoying and is kinda jealous, but he also loves how his husband loosens up around Qinghua. Nobody understands Shen Yuan like he does. He is also Mobei Jun's entire world - he would not be alive without Shang Qinghua, much less become a king.
There are different instances that only confirm what SQH thinks he knows is the truth until he finally gets seriously hurt. In his own words "At least it was him who took the hit and none of the truly important characters of the story. Because, who is he, really? LBH is the protagonist, SQQ/SY is the love interest and the secondary protagonist at this point. MBJ is important best friend, confidant and advisor. And who is SQH in terms of the great plot? Still but a canon fodder. And that's okay!"
SQH has this talk with SQQ and SQQ could not be more horrified. How could he not notice that SQH puts so little value on his own life and well-being? That begs an intervention!
Generally, it's all about character's self-worth issues and other characters making sure that one feels appreciated by the end.
Problem is, I really can't iron out any details. I caught a cold during my holiday and I can't do much except lie in bed and complain. Also, I run out of tissues a while ago and I'm now using toilet paper, but that's beside the point. I am afraid I won't feel good enough to start working on it before I have to go back to work when my days off run out. After that, I tend to work 6 days [64 hours, to pay all the bills] with 2 days of break [when I'm tired] so any artistic endeavors turn out very slowly.
I understand SQH for writing PIDW the way he did. If it paid my bills, I would absolutely write shitty papapa in hopes of getting at least part of my stories out. Instead, I work a job I can barely stand. Which is almost the same. [I think a lot of us like SQH so much because we can really relate to him. I know I can.]
I will write that fic/draw that comic though. I want to get my feelings out. Just wait for me.

PLOT BUNNY #2 ↳ HEARTSTONES
Summary: It’s believed that dwarves are blessed in one of two ways: by their heartstone, or their heartcraft, both a calling of the soul. When Thorin is convinced he has neither, a quest for his happiness takes him far beyond the Misty Mountains to the West. It’s within the West that Frerin is convinced they’ll find Thorin’s calling. Be that a happiness of the heart or the craft.
If you want to see this fic in the future, be sure to like, reblog, and/or comment! Feedback is welcome, and I can’t wait to see what fic wins the raz2k!  Check out the MASTERPOST to see the other plot bunnies!
Tumblr media
Heartstones and heartcrafts were the ultimate callings to any dwarf. It was a gift given by birth in order to find your place in the world, be it a place of one’s heart or within a form of creation, it was a high honor, just as it was unthinkable to be without either.
Each race had its own name for it, but it was most commonly known as Ones among the dwarrow, and soulmates to others. Heartsongs for the elves, heartblooms to the hobbits of the Farthings, and for the most oblivious of races, heartfelt for men. It was fairytale fodder in the eyes of many, but sacred to others–such as the dwarves where heart and craft were praised in many aspects of their lives.
Thorin was close to giving up on the idea that soulmates truly existed, whether it be of the heart or of the craft, he had yet to feel that special something that other dwarves raved about. Typically most dwarves minded their own business when it came to the beautiful discovery of one’s heartstone or heartcraft, but for a Prince of Erebor like Thorin, Son of Thrain, Son of Thror, to be without both? It certainly spurred no small amount of conversation, much to the dismay of the Line of Durin.
“And once we get just beyond Bywater that’s where we’ll meet our escort, supposedly,” Frerin chipperly spoke up, breaking Thorin out of this cycle of doom and gloom roaming about his mind.
There was nothing quite like being seen as a disappointment in the aspect of both love and craft, which were things that dwarves were very passionate about. Of course, Thorin could have fibbed and latched onto his talent for the forge, but to be untruthful about something so sacred in the world of the dwarrow, would be a punishment in itself to live with that lie.
“I will continue to insist that this trip is pointless. Just because you found your Kurdu'aban(heartstone), does not mean mine is out there,” Thorin lamented before feeling a playful clap on his shoulder.
“Trust in me, brother, your One is out there. Once we find the stone they are equivalent to, then it will be much easier to recognize them. It’s how it happened to me! And for Dis, if I recall. How long was it before she saw her first sunstone? Then came Vili shortly after.”
Thorin’s eyes rolled, remembering just how excited Frerin had been to find his heartstone. A dwarrowdam from Ered Luin who had been visiting with a caravan of merchants, ready to peddle their fine silks and threads. Needless to say, the dwarrowdam in question became a permanent fixture in Erebor and was to be wed to Frerin in due time.
“Fjola insists there are caves in these parts that are untouched by dwarven hands, and if there is a chance at discovering your gem of heart, then we must take it. Father wants you to be happy, as do all of us–”
“Perhaps. Or perhaps everyone is tired of hearing about Thrain’s oldest son as being Iklalu'kurdu(cold of heart)?” Thorin grouched, instantly souring Frerin’s mood as they walked, a small platoon of dwarves at their heels that were likely listening carefully, but finding it easier to not butt into the conversation more than anything. “I have been through the various guild halls more times than I care to count. No craft calls to my heart, regardless of skill. Nor has any gem mined out of the mountain…or any one person…”
“That’s what this quest is all about! Don’t think of it as us being in search of a title or a release from one, but…for your happiness. Everyone deserves that, don’t you think?” Frerin’s tone was low and calm, just as it was sincere. He might have been an eccentric sort on most occasions, but when it came to the happiness of his family, he would always be there to boost them up. “And if all else fails, we head north and pay a visit to our distant kin in Ered Luin.”
The grumble that sounded off from Thorin was enough to spur a sigh from Frerin, shaking his head and giving up on the idea of cheering his older brother up for the moment. Instead, he focused on flashing a grin over his shoulder towards a few of the dwarves following behind.
“Have any of you been to the Shire before? I’ve heard many rumors and don’t want to cause too much trouble, but I have to say…I am genuinely curious…”
It was Dwalin who scoffed first, and Bofur who chuckled second among several other mixed feelings sounding off.
“Oh, aye! I’m sure at least half of the rumors are true, and one I can absolutely guarantee is their Longbottom Leaf is quite the prize!” Bofur cheered, ironically a pipe wedged in the corner of his mouth as he bumped elbows with his brother and cousin. “And the food, you won’t believe the kind of worship these little lads and lassies have over their meals. I wonder if Leanna is still baking that blackberry pie of hers…”
There were several other things discussed among the group of dwarves when it came to hobbits and the supposed rumors. Just like there were no doubt rumors of dwarves, elves, and men that circled around these parts. All Thorin could do was continue to remain quiet and grumble whenever something mildly irritated him. It wasn’t that he was jealous or unappreciative of the efforts put forward by his friends and family, but he had very little faith that they’d find something.
This long journey would be a waste, and then to show back up to Erebor without any decent news? How could he face his father? Or even his grandfather? Both had insisted that Thorin was fine the way he was, but gave blessings and assistance to put him on the path to finding his one true desire–with little success thus far.
All of this work for nothing, regardless of how anyone insisted, Thorin wasn’t sure he could shirk the guilt in favor of acceptance of himself. He was dubbed as being cold of heart, and he certainly felt like it more often than not. The thought made his expression sour which hardly went unnoticed.
“Thorin?” Frerin piped up, hooking his hand around Thorin’s elbow and starting to pull him aside. “We’re taking a break! Rest your legs for a few minutes, alright?” Continuing to drag Thorin along to the side of the path, away from prying ears, Frerin’s brows knit together. “Tell me what’s wrong, Nadad(brother).”
Of course, Thorin remained rather closed off for the moment. His arm yanked away and folded across his chest, his gaze never meeting that of his brother’s, and his mouth tightly clamped shut.
“It’s not just about the heartstones is it?”
For as tightly wound as Thorin felt, practically coiled in on himself emotionally, the words fell out of his mouth without much thought. “What happens if there is nothing? I care not for what others think, if they wish to continue whispering that I am Iklalu'kurdu behind my back, then so be it, but…” Thorin’s eyes dropped with uncertainty within them that felt as painful as it looked. “Everyone has something…and those who have nothing are miserable. It’s a wretched feeling that the universe has decided you are…binzirikhul(unwanted)...how am I to be seen as anything but cold of heart? To being the disappointment of our line. Every great king has a calling…”
“Thorin…”
“I want to make them proud. Father, grandfather…and those who are no longer with us. I want to feel…something. Something other than this rotten swirl of self-doubt and self-loathing. I want to belong somewhere and not feel like such an outsider amongst my own.”
“You have my word, Nadad, we will find your happiness. We won’t stop searching until something, or someone calls to your heart, just as you deserve.” A small grin began to spread across Frerin’s lips as he could see the dismay slowly melting away from his older sibling. “Whether we find the gem that calls to you here or not, we will keep searching. You deserve every ounce of happiness the world has to offer. And who knows, perhaps the hobbits here can teach you a thing or two about that.”
It was a far stretch, but Frerin would take whatever positive thoughts he could muster and shove them at Thorin relentlessly.
“I suppose we can consider this an educational experience if anything…” Thorin muttered low but wasn’t completely dour in tone. “We should keep moving, our escort may become less enthusiastic at housing a few dwarves if we fall off schedule.”
“Right you are, Brother! Though from what I’ve heard, Mister Baggins is quite a respectable sort, so I have no doubt in my mind that he will be a most suitable host for two princes of Erebor, even if we are running a tad behind. Just you wait and see.”

that Mishalecki petplay photo... there is some serious plot bunny fodder there!
FOR REAL. And nobody even asked him to do it. I honestly find Jared to be a gift that keeps on giving. And when he gets together with Misha, it's like, anything could happen.

For the fanfic writers ask meme! ❤️ 🎁 🐇 🎨
Thank yeeeeewwww <3
❤️ What is your favorite line that you’ve written in a fic?
Already answered!
🎁 Have a piece of a WIP you want to share?
Tragically, I haven't written fic in years and have no WIPs or even persistent plot bunnies. But I'll explain the premise of the Leverage-crew-as-the-Old-Guard fusion I will never actually write to anyone who's curious.
🐇 Do you write for yourself, for others, or both?
Mostly for myself, in that I can't really write anything I'm not excited about, but I have enjoyed participating in exchanges (including Yuletime) and big bangs and prompt-a-thons in the past.
I also wrote @redrackham87 quite a few birthday fics back in the day—some of my best work, I might add—and while I tried to gear those toward things I thought she'd like (large and small), they were ultimately things I wanted to write that I thought she'd enjoy.
🎨 If someone were to make fanart of your work, what fic or scene would you hope to see?
More Buckynat art in the world is always a good thing, and I like to think I have a lot of fodder for that...but on reflection I think I'd actually really love to see Laura with the cat in Retractable Claws.
Or the karaoke scene in If A Door Be Closed, which I think of every time I hear that song now. Or any of le feu dans mon âme, but then mostly because it's still funny to me to see the Musketeers actors in contemporary dress (and haircuts).

Worldbuilding: White Gold
If you want conflict in your story, you don’t need to invent political plots or conspiracies. You just need to look for the one thing in your setting everyone needs, and the Evil Plots will appear. Consider the case of salt.
The history of human civilization is, to a great extent, the history of salt. Ice makes it in there too, especially once we worked out powered ways to refrigerate and freeze food, but mostly salt.
Three main reasons for this. First, salt is one of the best, simplest, non-temperature-dependent ways to preserve food. If you can’t put food by and build up a surplus, you can’t get past bare survival, much less build villages and cultures that write down their rituals, recipes, and raunchy jokes.
Second, plain old ordinary salt is useful for all kinds of chemical reactions. Tanning, dyeing, soap-making, mining and alloys - all of these use salt. Modern industry uses most of the salt produced worldwide. Look up organic chemistry if you want the gritty details, that stuff’s scary.
Third, humans need salt in their diet. It may be hard to imagine in grocery stores full of processed food and salty snacks, but for most of history, if you didn’t live right on the seashore, getting enough salt to stay healthy could be an uphill battle.
And here’s where some of the annoying aspects of civilization kick in. Specifically, governments hungry for Ever More Tax Money. Since everyone needs salt, governments throughout history have concluded that by taxing and controlling salt, they get everyone to pay taxes. Fair, right?
...I will pause here to let readers stop laughing hysterically, and/or retrieve their rolled eyes from under the sofa where they’re picking up dust bunnies.
Yeah. Not so much. Historically the people who most need to use salt to store food as a hedge against disaster are those too poor to afford getting fresh food when they want it. If you’re rich you can have fresh meat slaughtered, fresh fish hauled in water-baskets inland, fresh cherries air-mailed by pigeon post for a banquet.
(True story. A guy in ancient Persia proving a point about how fast he could get news across the Empire. Enemies took the hint.)
Rich people don’t have to spend as much money on salt. But if you sell salt, to people who have to have it? You can make out like a bandit.
(According to Everyday Life in Joseon-era Korea, this was the actual historical cause of many people turning bandit. They couldn’t afford enough salt to stay legal and survive.)
It runs through history like clockwork. Governments want money, they take over the production of salt, they farm out the actual work to people who can bribe their way into running it, the quality goes down, the price goes up, people make and smuggle it illegally... and there’s never enough. If you want some more recent history, look at British India. The government made it illegal for native Indians to make their own salt. This was part of what Gandhi used to crack them. (There were plenty of other things wrong, but salt was the one that affected your average householder trying to get by. Messy.)
If your story is set any time prior to modern day, salt is an important background detail. Nations go to war for salt. Beggars steal for it. People travel to find it, mine it, boil it from brine, and so much more. This Wikipedia article on salt in Chinese history lays out a lot of historical shenanigans, and if your library lets you borrow Mark Kurlansky’s Salt: A World History, even better. This is history with ordinary people attached, meaning excellent story fodder.
But your story doesn’t have to use salt for this. Just anything that a lot of people need, and will pay for. If you want your characters going up against villains like corrupt government officials or greedy merchants - here’s a place to start looking!

Pre-coffee Batfam AU plot bunny thought
What if Janet Drake never died, but Jack still did?
What if Bruce invited Janet and Tim to live at Wayne Manor while recovering from the shock and grief of the murder?
What if, after a year or so has passed, and the kids in the manor (Tim and Cass only - Damian isn't introduced yet and Dick & Jason live on their own) start noticing Bruce and Janet getting closer, but the two adults are oblivious to one another? What if they decide they really want to make the "being siblings thing" an actual reality, because Bruce has already adopted Cass, but Tim belongs to Janet?
Also, Cass loves that Janet gets mistaken for her "mom" whenever they go out shopping or to an event together, and Tim isn't against the idea of calling Bruce "dad". He's already nearly done it a couple times that month in the field.
What kind of "Parent Trap" shenanigans could those kids have come up with?

Look, the two best parts of this accidental baby acquisition bunny that I have right now are:
1. Matthew got to play stork.
2. Dream is SUSPICIOUSLY quiet as to how baby Oliver came to be. He does blush beautifully when he's pressed about it.
In the meantime, Hob is so proud that Oliver apparently loves listening to his old Da rant about Shaxbert, listening rapturously to every word and sagely adding baby babble as emphasis. The kid might look like Dream, but he definitely gets his disposition from Hob.

Brave for the fandom ask!
ahaha YESSSSS I love getting to actually talk about this thing
blorbo (favorite character, character I think about the most)
This one is a solid tie between Dragon Brave and Chief Brave. Admittedly a bit of that rests on their dynamic (friend chip...), but they're great characters alone. While I could say... a Lot, i'll try and keep it short and say I think they tie into the larger-scope plot the best, and also [Marge Simpson voice] I Just Think They're Neat. Been living rent-free in my poor gdocs wip folder
scrunkly (my “baby”, character that gives me cuteness aggression, character that is So Shaped.
BUNNY... Cute and deadly. A good friend to her party. She's one of those characters I'd love to work with once I get my brain rolling.
scrimblo bimblo (underrated/underappreciated fave)
Water Demon! While I wouldn't say she's underappreciated for the most part, when it comes to character and story stuff she is a little, yeah.
glup shitto (obscure fave, character that can appear in the background for 0.2 seconds and I won’t shut up about it for a week)
Less of a character and more of a dynamic, but I've thought quite a few times about the way-early aftermath of the history Desire Demon showed Dragon Brave. Like, obviously a lot of the dragons survived, and it's implied (at least geographically) that they still live around the same mountain range before they became dragons, so I do wonder what building that community was like? Because there were still humans left there that survived the vengeance- iirc the humans that unshackled the dragons from the whole... livestock magic thing weren't targeted at all by the new dragons.
IDK i just think the whole growing pains (and also why tf it ended up being just dragons a long time later) of the first dragons re-making a community with their two-legged cousins is interesting thought-fodder.
(this was such a long answer oops_
poor little meow meow (“problematic”/unpopular/controversial/otherwise pathetic fave)
I'm gonna be honest I don't think the english-speaking community is even big enough to have a 'problematic fav'. I'd say maybe Chief Brave? Dude definitely isn't a cut-out 'good guy', that's for sure.
horse plinko (character I would torment for fun, for whatever reason)
Fair Brave but mostly like... in emotional and mental formats. I just want to pick his brain. Stick him in a metaphorical terrarium and observe. He's got a number of contradictory viewpoints and character traits that work surprisingly well together once you dig around enough.
eeby deeby (character I would send to superhell):
Landlord King. Lord of Crapitalism. He's so punchable.

One more Appmon plot bunny
I have a whole list of these, but one thing I don’t think I’ve seen anyone address in regards to the time between the end of the story proper and the epilogue is…
(Friendly neighborhood spoiler warning!)
At some point, someone (presumably Haru) had to tell Ai about Yuujin. The three of them were all really close, and given how much Ai already knew about Appmon, it makes no sense for anyone to keep that information from her. I wonder how she would react, how it would make her feel. She and Haru processing their feelings in the aftermath of the Human Application Project is excellent fanfic fodder regardless, and if I ever get the motivation to write again, I’ll add it to my list.
Don’t wait on me though, anyone who feels inspired should feel free to take the idea and run with it. Just let me know if/when you do so I can read it!!

Sceo Resources
Tumblr media
In the past we've used the #resources tag on our blog to store resources for sceo creations and we're going to try to beef those up again. Below are a few things we want to share/remind folks about:
SCREENCAPS
Between now and SceoWeek2021 we're going to be publishing a series of raw screepcaps in which Scott & Theo are both visible in the same shot (note that it isn't a complete sceo scene list since a lot of the time they're 😍😍😍 each other so they're standing across from one another and SADLY not in the same frame).
We'll be publishing them with the tags #rawsceocaps and #resources You're welcome to steal and use for your pro-sceo creations, no need for credit, but please do like/reblog the post if you plan to use them!
As these are raw shots there's no color correction or editing. If anyone wants to show off their awesome coloring skills (and share with others for use) please feel free to download and work your magic, then tag us so we can reblog for the community to use.
We've colored a few caps already, which you can find tagged #sceocap anyone is welcome to grab those and incorporate into their content as well.
SCEOEDITS
A sister blog to us, SceoEdits, houses a number of giffed sceo scenes. It is nowhere near a complete list of scenes but all of the sets are tagged with the episodes. If you want to include a basic sceo gif in a post usually the creators are cool with that. DM @demonzdust just to double check. They might also be able to set you up with gifs from other scenes or gifs without watermarks.
SCEOPROMPTS
Another sister blog, SceoPrompts is a place that you can dump all your plot bunnies for the community to use. Prompts are never "closed" so you can always write your own version of the same prompt. It's a blog for sharing ideas an finding inspiration. All prompts are tagged #sceoprompt. Check out the list of content tags on the side bar to more easily find content.
SCEO CLIPS
Last year we did a series of short sceo (and tyler/cody) video clips with small bite-sized shipping fodder. We might start this up again soon! You can find them tagged #SceoMoment on our blog
SUGGESTIONS?
If there's anything that would help you in your sceo creations, please don't hesitate to reach out and let us know!

The History Books Forgot About Us
The History Books Forgot About Us by justaglitch
Izuku was twelve when his worldview was first flipped on it's head, and he learned a few disturbing things, including: a) his home 'Grace Field' is a human farm, not an orphanage, b) in the outside world, people have powers called 'quirks', c) these farms are where quirkless children like him are sent, and d) his grand purpose in life was originally for him to become Demon fodder. That is, until he was relocated to an experimental facility from which he made his grand escape.
But now that he's out, would anyone actually believe him when he says the Hero Public Safety Commission is behind it all?

Wanna do director sanvers for the ask game since I just saw that you posted a fic (that I'm excited to read when I get the chance!)?
1. What made you ship it?
it just kind of happened?
I started as a general danvers shipper then director danvers [well before lucy became director mind, luclex anyone *snorts*] as well when lucy showed up way back in the s1 cbs days when queer alex was pure hc fodder and we all assumed winn would be the one to get a big gay reveal if something like that were to happen
then maggie sawyer turned up and alex turned into a completely gay mess without even realizing it and i was c a p t i v a t e d, and in those early moments of holy fuck she's got it bad and doesn't even realize it before the rise of sanvers and way before the fall i got attacked by a plot bunny ft. dragons i expected it to be a sanvers fic but lucy/alex took the reigns and by the time it was done the first ever director sanvers fic was born
I hadn't ever really considered ot3's before? polyam wasn't much on my radar and i had a history of otp's that usually kept me from even multishipping but alex/maggie/lucy opened up a whole new world for me, i shipped alex/maggie and i shipped alex/lucy and then suddenly the potential for all of them separately and together weaved itself into something that just Felt Right and they became and ima about to get real cheesy here everything i ever thought or hoped or dreamed love could be
other people picked up on that potential and ran with it and with every new story written by strangers then and some of the dearest people in my life these days i only fell harder and harder for 'director sanvers'
the stewards of this ship came with a deep love and understanding of each character individually which made this ship shine something fierce when all three were put together and i've never looked back
2. What are your favorite things about the ship?
the friendships i made along the way? *snorts*
the way they are in any incarnation so unapologetically queer, the characters themselves, that have such strong and unique individual personalities and the way those just mesh So well together no matter which way you spin it: alex/lucy, alex/maggie, maggie/lucy, alex/maggie/lucy, the way they're all used to living in their respective armors all their lives and finally feel like they can take that armor off and put it down around each other ,that they choose to do so, the banter and the snark and the heart
honestly there's too much to even begin to list it all
3. Is there an unpopular opinion you have on your ship?
Not that I'm aware of? there's also a small part of me that will lowkey always think of this ship as my literal baby so i might just be immune to concept of any of my opinions being unpopular lmao even thoough the ship has grown and expanded well beyond me and my wildest dreams which is fuckin awesome tbh
