I find it funny how thousands of people followed me because of the jealous series, probably expecting more content of their favs, only to see me 99.99% of the time be like:
I'm sorry in my defence I wrote it in my bio

ok i was just remembering back when a bunch of interactive fiction accounts were answering those orpheus/eurydice asks and i kind of want to write something related about blades characters SO for my fellow blades enjoyers: who do you think would turn & who wouldn't?
i'm going with all the og love interests for this (mal, nia, tyril, imtura, aerin). i'm pretty confident about certain ones, but less sure about mal & aerin, so lemme know what you think!
this might not impact what i write at all, and i might not end up writing anything, BUT i'm curious to know & this might help me confirm my thoughts as well :)
ALSO feel free to reblog with your reasoning/why if u want!!!

hey! so i want to read orv after seeing you post about it for a bit but im not sure where i should start- i was hoping you could tell me how you got into it ??? anyway hope you're having a good day:)
hi omg yes of course!! legit SO excited to help spread the orv agenda, prepare to have your brain chemistry permanently altered by it fr (not clickbait)
orv stands for omniscient reader's viewpoint and it's first and foremost a webnovel, but there's also a currently ongoing manhwa adaptation (also there's a live-action movie in pre-production so you're joining the orv train at the perfect time actually)
not to oversell it but the novel is, no joke, the best piece of fiction i've read in my entire life. because of its heavy metanarrative elements, orv really is meant to be read as a novel—it's literally a love letter to its readers.
HOWEVER, i actually highly recommend starting out with the manhwa first, which is how i got into it! i feel like the manhwa is more engaging at the beginning and helps you visualize the characters and setting better. once you get a good grasp on the cast and the overall gist of the plot, you can always switch to the novel!
i personally made the switch after ep 98 of the manhwa and i'd suggest doing the same bc it just hits a lot harder in the novel at that point (plus the manhwa takes away some of the internal narration that literally recontextualizes that whole arc but i digress)
as for where you can read it:
you can find the manhwa on webtoon here (there's also an app if you prefer reading on mobile)
and you can find the novel here
(btw i fully rec starting the novel from the beginning once you make the switch! it might seem a bit repetitive at first, but you actually pick up on a lot of foreshadowing during the second read + you get to see some scenes that were changed / removed in the manhwa!)
beyond that i'll just say that the story only keeps getting better, trust me. it's probably the only one i've read where it just builds and builds and never stops and the payoff during the epilogue is 10000% worth the ride <3
hope you're having a lovely day as well!! and i really hope you enjoy the absolute insanity that is orv hehe

Zan, Are you doing alright? Was that some of Ester's Magic?
Zan: "His ability to get into people's minds can cause quite a headache...and the more you start to believe the lies he tries to show and tell you, the further you deteriorate...though...I know it's not real. ...But focusing so hard on trying to resist...trying to ignore it when it's so loud...it isn't doing much to stop the pain..."

People really think that canonically HC is built like a tank.
Where are they getting this though. He's described as slender and lanky. He's certainly broader than XL, and it says as much, but XL is a small guy. He's one of the shortest characters in the cast (though he is ofc extremely physically strong, so he's buff in his own way).
Like there is only ONE version of the series; adaptation, official art, etc. where HC is BIG, and it's the one where he didn't start off that way but expanded into nineties yaoi proportions as the series went on. He's good in the early manhua and early manhua official art.
Like isn't this the first official art of HC??
That's not huge or swole or tanky. that's just a... tall guy. But over and over in this fandom you're 'ignoring canon' if you deny that he's huge like *Ember's HC.

***THIS IS A POST ABOUT MY PERSONAL TASTES, NOT ABOUT THE VALIDITY OF CERTAIN CREATIVE OUTPUTS/FORMS/ACTIVITIES/COLLABORATIONS***
Ok. Once again. Pretty much every time I see a cool ttrpg concept I'm like, damn I wish someone developed this into a novel so I could meaningfully engage with it.!

So I'm under the assumption that Orange, Navel & Tangerine don't have verified ages? (We all know what assuming does but I digress) [Update: I was nicely infomed that they don't seem to which genuinely makes me feel leagues better about this post. So thanks! to jeekoneeko. Especially bcuz they share one of my thoughts on Tangerine and that also made me feel better about my other thoughts. ^^]
In this post, I shall discuss my thoughts on their ages all stemming from the initial thought I've had for a minute that Orange & Navel are probably really close in age.
In Year 1 Citron is 22, & in Year 2 it was said that when Tangerine turns 20 he'll become King, so we know he's younger than 20 in year 2. In the Eggciting Travelogue, it's stated that Sakuya is kind of close in age with Tangerine.
But in HQ there was that younger brother bit with him and Masumi (Honestly I think I'm misinterpreting this part but I have no alt translations or anyone to talk to about it so...)
So I'm gonna believe he's closer in age to Masumi than Sakuya. (Which isn't far but still.) So Masumi is 16 in year 1 so let's say Tangerine is too. That would make Tangerine and Citron about 6 years apart.
While that means there's about 6 years to place Orange and Navel, I believe they're closer in age to each other than any of them are. Idk how old they were intended to be but my gut initially said Orange is probably 2 or 3 years younger than Citron and I feel Navel is at most 1 year younger than Orange. And like I have no concrete proof of this it's just the vibe I get. But these vibes are probably partially because of them being close and somewhat because they tend to be grouped together. Like it's been stated that people would prefer Orange or Navel, but why is Navel even being somewhat considered when Orange is next after Citron? Maybe because he's so close in age with Orange anyway?(Tho lowkey he feels tagged on but that's a whole other incomplete thought I have) And then I realized that that means I feel Navel is 3 or 2 years older than Tangerine so I decided I like this split and I think it checks because it evens out.
But I'm gonna bump Tangerine down a year somewhat because it makes the numbers even more even when specifying ages but aslo I originally would've pegged his age closer to Muku, and while I suppose 16(year 1) isn't too far off, he does sorta feel younger than Masumi(to me at least) & 15 is close to both Muku & Masumi & not too far from Sakuya who was 17 in year 1.
So I think I'm gonna mainly go with the idea that in year 2 the ages were Citron 23, Orange 20, Navel 19, and Tangerine 16. And there's a reason I chose 20 for Orange, and though it's lost some of its grounding, it's what I'm sticking with for now. (I'll explain that in a different post)

don't you think if they really committed the murders they would've reoffended by now? i'm not disagreeing because i don't know much about this case, but it's hard to believe that someone capable of a gruesome crime can go on living without getting in trouble with the law again
i get what you're saying, i've thought about it before and my answer is no. let me just preface this by saying i don't think baldwin or misskelley jr would've ever gotten into anything of this magnitude on their own, the general consensus is that echols was the ring leader (which i agree with), so i mostly want to focus on him here (btw misskelley did actually get arrested for traffic violations a few years ago, but that's a petty crime, i wouldn't think anything of it)
the reason i say no is because a lot is at stake for him now. he comes from a tiny town in the middle of nowhere bible belt america. according to this 1990 census, out of the 28k population a little over 5k were high school graduates, and only 1.2k had bachelor's degrees (10.8% of the population had higher education), the median household income was around $22k with over 6.4k of the population living below poverty line (and 98% having a determined poverty status). what i'm getting at here is the future didn't look very bright for him or any of them for that matter. none of them were rich or even financially comfortable by any stretch of imagination and had the murders not happened, they would've most likely not gone to college, never gotten out of that town and continued living the same way everyone around them was living. however, the documentaries garnered a lot of media attention, love and support, especially for echols (and a lot of money which is a whole nother issue), from the regular people (as well as celebrities) who still vehemently believe in his innocence. so while he didn't have much to lose in '93, he has absolutely everything to lose now. imo most innocenters and guilters alike know that they can't with 100% certainty say who committed the murders and at this point we'll probably never know, but if anything ever comes out about him or the other two post-release that will make the innocenters doubt his innocence, they will turn on him in an instant and he knows it
