Morax is always kind to him, so much so that Xiao wonders if he doesn't coddle him from the weight of his failures. Surely, he is as aware of them as Xiao himself, if not more so.

He thinks the words over in an attempt to perhaps notice a nuance he had overlooked the first time around, only to come up empty. Brows furrowed, he looks up at his lord. "I apologize but...what classifies as these 'small joys' you speak of?" To Xiao, pleasure only ever was the absence of pain. He does not remember the last time he felt it. "I'm willing to learn if you deem it necessary to instruct me or to appoint another teacher in your stead."
