ok ok ok i LOVE this actually omg

so the thing is. lewis did not actually INTEND to fall in love with his tattoo artist. but sometimes when he's getting a tattoo in a particularly painful place val will gently run his hand over it like he doesn't even know he's doing it, and murmur "you're ok, you're fine, it's okay" and it always fucking WORKS, and. well. he's touch starved ok it's nice to feel taken care of!

val also happens to be the only tattoo artist lewis trusts. he's been to others before but that's ended in shit tats needing coverups, or worse, laser sessions. never fucking again. but val is always so fucking careful, and so damn good with his hands, that lewis has fallen asleep on the table a few times.

lewis begins designing his clothes in a way that shows his tats off. either by baring the skin entirely or wearing v see through material like lace and net. val asks him once why he does that, and he just smiles softly and says "because i want everyone to see how talented you are"

people notice the tats, of course they do, and lewis proudly tells everyone abt val, how good he is, how talented and gentle, and val's now got this sudden influx of business, all these people coming over on lewis's recommendation. it's more than he ever expected anyone to do for him, lewis is not his first famous client, but no one has ever been this proud to be inked by him

after they finally get together, lewis gets val's birthday and the number 77 (val's fav number) tattooed under his left collarbone
