listen listen i need tmf s2 to start out fucking raining like its freaking pouring bc afaik its never been seening raining in the show. i need to see drew walking home in the rain freaking soaked in water he stomps through puddles and his expression is dull, blank and fucking dead. and i need it to switch to him in his room lying in his bed and he puts his airpods in listening to music or a podcast or just something to drown out all the noise of his brain and curls into himself. some music is playing in the background possibly something sad. we watch as he changes his lockscreen from a picture of him and jake to the default one that comes w the phone . its still pouring in the background and you can hear the rain even with the background song playing. and its creating this beauitufl melancholic harmony thingy. he goes to jakes contact and presses the block button. the confirmation messages shines on his face, and he stares hard it. but he cant do it so he throws his phone onto the ground and buries himself under his blanket. it zooms on drews face you cant see his eyes but a single tear rolls down his cheek

TMF Popularity Poll Winners!! Ft. TMF comic

( for context I did a poll with 89 voters who contributed answering the question “who is your favourite character from TMF” and the top two winners I’ll draw fanart for )

1st: is Drew!! With over one third of the votes going to him.

2nd: Is Jake! There was a lot of competition with Hailey for 2nd though.

This means the fanart will be some PlumPeach content:)

3rd: is Joint with Hailey and Sean who did way better than expected!

So I have discussed how Drew crushing on Jake would be great for his character. But to take it a step further, I think having his love be unrequited would be especially good.

Normally I'm not a huge UnReq! Love fan. But in the case of PlumPeach (Yes I will be using this term from now on) it actually works in Drew's favor for character arcs.

It would force him to confront attachment and control issues head on. Make him look at how he treats people he cares about. How he can't force someone to stay with him, and that sometimes people are going to leave, or not requite your exact feelings.

He'll have to realize that he can't control everything. Including how people feel. Just because he want's Jake to love him back with every fiber of his being, doesn't mean Jake will. And Drew can't force him to.

Just like Drew can't force him to choose the Dromies over the club. Himself over Hailey. Some things just are out of his sway.

And by realizing Jake doesn't feel the same about him, it forces him to confront that part of himself that needs everything to go his way.

It's also been implied that Drew is a deeply insecure person. So by having somebody not Love him the way he loves them, would act to feed his insecurities. Not only would that be a delicious angst opportunity, but it also could give Drew the inner emotional turmoil he needs to kick-start his redemption arc.

Maybe someone can find it in their heart to empathize with him in a moment of weakness, and give him a tough love pep-talk. Maybe it's a club member, maybe it's another side character (like Lia?). Maybe Drew realizes he's not all the things he thought he was. He's only a child still. But he hasn't been a good person as of late. And thus the path to redemption is paved.

Either way, unrequited love is what Drew's character needs. It makes him more sympathetic to the audience, which is crucial when you want to redeem a character. It forces him to confront some of his bigger driving character flaws. And it's a smooth way to transition into his potential redemption.

While yes, I will be an absolute devastated sobbing mess if this happens, I will be foaming at the mouth as a writer. Because from a writing stand-point, this is a great move. One of the best directions to take Drew's character (in my very very humble, fan-of-the-show, not professional writer, opinion).
