It's a joy to see her pulling all the strings in Smiles of a Summer Night while her two boyfriends make utter fools of themselves.

Maureen O’Hara (The Parent Trap, The Quiet Man)—They called her the Queen of Technicolor. That right there should help introduce people to the fiery, wonderful, stunning Maureen O’Hara. She was from Ireland, born in 1920, and started in theater at the age of ten. At 15, she was winning drama awards, including one for her performance as Portia in the Merchant of Venice. At 16, she was the youngest pupil to graduate from the Guildhall School of Music. I thought she was one of the most beautiful women in the world when I was a kid and I have yet to really change my mind. Always loved her temper and her red hair. Plus she was kind of a MILF in The Parent Trap

I would have to give up my passport if I didn't submit Maureen O'Hara but also have you seen her? Not only did she look like that (she was called the Queen of Technicolor, though she wasn't a big fan of that sobriquet), she was also very funny and tough as nails. She faced off against Walt Disney in a contract dispute and the legend goes that when someone mentioned her at his deathbed, he sat up and said 'That bitch!'. Her comment on that story is "At least he didn't think of me and say, 'That wimp'." She struggled to get serious roles for a time, saying ""Hollywood would never allow my talent to triumph over my face," so she plays the sexy princess/pirate/harem girl in a LOT of early movies that she referred to as "Tits and Sand" films, she being the tits in question. She also turned down so many leading men and studio bosses (Errol Flynn and Howard Hughes are among her rejects) that there were rumours spread that she was a lesbian. Many egos were battered it seems. I'm including the infamous Lady Godiva scene in the photo propaganda for the sheer Moment of it [link] . It was a bit of a flop critically, but it was one of Clint Eastwood's first film appearances and she said he told her later that he was very glad of the money at the time. She was a very proud Irish woman and when she went for her American citizenship they insisted on referring to her as British (the timeline of Irish independence is a bit wibbly wobbly, we won't get into it here). She refused to accept American citizenship under that condition and argued her way through every level of US immigration she could find, supposedly saying "I'm not responsible for your antiquated records here in Washington", until a judge finally gave up and said "Give her what she wants, just get her out of here". This made her the first ever person seeking US citizenship to be proclaimed Irish on the record! And while we don't embrace the leprechaun imagery quite so enthusiastically today, her dressing her dog up in a little shamrock hat is too cute for you all to miss so I'm including that in the photo propaganda.

Scarlett's POV:

Tonight I'm going on the Jimmy Fallon with my co-stars show to promote my new movie. I'm really scared for this interview in particular as I've planned to announce something very big and my fans will probably go mental. For a while now there's been speculation around who I'm dating, if anyone and for some reason they always think it's a man. Now, that's what I'm announcing tonight, why it's not a man and, who it she really is.

Y/N POV:

Tonight is the night. The big night. I'm so scared how people are going to react, I mean it doesn't really matter what they think because me and Scar are happy together but, I can't help worrying sometimes. I'm currently in my dressing room behind the scenes at the Jimmy Fallon Show waiting to be called on. My palms are sweaty and my throat is dry. I need to calm down before I go on stage so I make my way over to the only person that can help.

I get to Scarlett's room and knock on the door.

Scarlett - "Who is it?"

Y/n - "It's me."

She opens the door to reveal my panicked face. Knowing immediately why I was like this, she pulled me in the room and trapped me in her embrace. As we were hugging she stroked my head, careful not to ruin all the work the hair and makeup team just did and whispers to me softly.

Scarlett - "Hey, it's gunna be fine. You know half of our fans are lesbians anyway so, I'm sure they won't mind and if it's the press your worried about then stop because they're all idiots and I couldn't care less what they say."

Her grip around my waist tightened as she spoke. I felt safe in her arms and I just kept reminding myself that it would be fine because even if someone does make a comment that me and Scar will always have each other and plus, the rest of the cast is there as well and they'll never let anything happen. We're all super protective over each other because after years of filming the Marvel films together we're basically family.

Our moment is rudely interrupted by a knock on the door.

Producer - "You're on in five!"

That didn't help the situation that I was in but, I'm an actress no one would know I was scared. I'll literally but my brave face on.

Time skip to half way through the show:

Scarlett's POV:

Jimmy - "So, Scarlett there have been some rumors going around that you are dating someone, do you have anything to say about this?"

Scarlett - "Well, uhm, I don't normally address rumors much but this one is necessary. I am with someone."

Jimmy - "Oooh I feel like a school girl, talking about who we're dating, so, does this mystery man have a name?"

Okay, here it goes. I think to myself.

Scarlett - "Well they mystery woman, is sitting right next to me."

The crowd instantly starts cheering and Jimmy had a smile plastered on his face. I felt someone grasp my hand tightly. I already know who it is but, I look anyway and see my gorgeous girlfriend to my left beaming at me. I was really happy it was out there now. I didn't need to hide my emotions anymore it felt like a weight had been lifted off my chest.

Y/N POV:

She did it. It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be, people actually seemed happy for us. As the interview went on Lizzie and Florence kept looking over to see if me and Scar were okay like the protective people they are and Scarlett and me kept stealing glances at each other constantly. I was really glad we got it out there so we don't have to treat our love like a dirty secret anymore. I can finally not have to carry around the burden of not being able to kiss my girlfriend in public in fear of someone seeing.

Time skip to after the interview:

We just finished the talk show and now me and Scarlett are walking back to her dressing room hand in hand, chatting away about anything and everything that comes to mind. As we enter the room she closes the door and turns to look at me. She holds my gaze as she comes forward and grabs my hips.

Scarlett - "I'm so happy we did that because now, I can do this.'

With that she pulled me in close and smashed our lips together in a passionate kiss. My arms were draped over her shoulders and her hand snaked around my waist protectively. Our bodies were flush against each other as our lips were still joined. Once oxygen became a problem we broke apart.

Y/n - "If coming out means we do that more often, we should totally com out more."

She giggled at my antics and pulled me in again. This woman is my one and only.

To those agreeing with what I say but saying I'm mean and "Let's just be nice" when we're discussing TRA things or feminism or J. K. Rowling... I am DONE being nice.

I was nice the first 100.000 times. Now I've been bombarded with private messages and Tumblr "post" (the envelope thingy) and general comments, plus seeing dozens of posts that I just can't be nice and patient about. Because these MORONS and some of them, actual TERRORISTS, are literary burning books, twisting the Harry Potter stories to justify their unjustifiable extremism, harassing children for being Potterheads, mocking adults for finding solace in Harry Potter, attacking and sending death threats and death wishes to everyone that disagrees with them, manipulating children, autistic, and also all kinds of mentally disabled people to absorb their agenda and mutilate their bodies, targeting the lives of people who disagree with them and attacking them and their loved ones, cyberbullying left and right hiding beneath anonymous names and pink and blue flags, burning and thrashing businesses where feminists go, turning Pride into an event where rapists are being allowed to take the mic and say to kill women (literally) and being applauded, saying homosexuality is transphobic and raping lesbians and gays, applauding men changing in locker rooms in front of little girls, applauding men taking over women's sports and spaces, applauding sending rapists to women's prisons, applauding children being brainwashed into life changing treatments, terrorising the world, imposing their own agenda with violence and threats, silencing and attacking the detrans community, manipulating the media, fucking it all up for all the normal trans people who are now thanks to the TRAS being seen as terrorists, and justifying their hatred and their violence on them having basically no reading comprehension, twisting people's words to have a pity party, and creating a self-imposed narrative to try and convince us that everyone wants them to die so it's all right for them to attack everyone else and be given free reign and justification to do so. Police can't even report that a criminal is trans any more and people are losing their jobs for reporting crimes by trans people, for fuck's sakes.

Do you know how often I've dealt with the same lazy justification to "explain" to me, a mixed race Jewish descent woman, why JK Rowling is anti semitic or racist? Or why she's transphobic? And every time one tries to nicely point out that they're twisting things and decontextualising them and inserting their own racist views, they just tell you to kill yourself. They've taken over press, media, social media, pride, women's spaces, they're going after children, attacking local pubs and restaurants... I'm not going to allow it. I'm done being nice.

I see them bullying the detrans community and shutting them up. I see how they harass and threaten the trans community that doesn't want to occupy women's spaces or that doesn't condone violence and threats and wants children to be left alone. I see how they attack women, lesbians and gays. I have a collection of articles of their rapes and other attacks, mainly to women. And they won't brainwash me.

I'm not afraid. These are a violent, terrorist mob that is taking over the left and making themselves the victims when we haven't faced a more aggressive and dangerous mob since the Nazis. Have you seen the videos of the teens and young adults crying in the US Congress, talking about how afraid they are when they see men changing in their lockers, or talking about how their breasts were chopped off and begging us, adults, to stop this nonsense? I have and I'm listening.

Like Joanne Rowling, like all the women who won't wheesht, I'm going to fight for those kids, for the normal people in the trans community, for detransitioners, gays, lesbians, mentally disabled... I'm not afraid and I'm not nice. Not any more. You want a fight? I'm full of weapons.

imogen should be unlabeled sapphic imo

It would be great rep plus it could help the show open conversations about how labels shouldn't be forced onto people.

By unlabeled sapphic I mean she should just be like, "I just like people, but I don't think any label really fits me, I just know I like girls" and tbh it seems like once she fully realizes she's into girls she's gonna only date them for a bit hence, "everything would just be easier if I were into girls" so when people ask her about her sexuality she can just be like, "I'm sapphic but I don't want a specific label"

Also a large amount of people in the community tend to force labels onto people and get pissed off when people don't use/do use certain labels, in my experience at least, and I think it would be cool to portray that as it is an issue within the community. I'm not saying the show should villianize any of the main characters, I'm saying that the show should show that even if someone is a part of the community or well meaning they can still mess up and make ignorant comments.

I think a interesting scenario would be if Imogen is talking to one of the kids in the group (likely nick, but maybe Tara or Darcy) about how she thinks shes sapphic and the person she's talking to, like, gives her a label or says something like, "oh well, you're bi then?" Or along those lines. Leaving Imogen upset and dejected because she feels like no labels fit her but everytime she tries to talk to someone about it they always give her a label that she still feels doesn't fit. And she just ends up not wanting to come out because she feels pressured to pick a label and feels like since none of the labels have fit she thinks she's straight (lmao totally not me projecting lol). Also if she does end up dating sahar, which it seems like they're going to, she could try and talk to Sahar about how she feels like none of the labels really fit her. And Sahar is going through all the labels trying to help Imogen, and Imogen is just like, "no, not that one" the entire time. Which could lead to Sahar being upset and thinking that Imogen isn't actually queer and just using her to figure out her sexuality/as an experiment. They fight, Imogen and Sahar both do a bunch of research, Imogen decides that she doesn't want a label and that she likes girls and she doesn't need a label to define her. Whilst Sahar realize that she needs to give Imogen some time, they both apologize and start dating.

Also if they tell the group that they're dating it should go smthn like this :

Imogen or Sahar : we're dating!!

Everybody : yayyyy coolll

Someone : so, Imogen are you a lesbian?

Imogen : nope

Someone else : bisexual then?

Imogen : no. I'm not anything, I'm just me

I just think this would be really cool and I def might be projecting a bit because I felt very forced into choosing a label by my lgbtqia+ peers. I also think it would be good because it could show viewers that just because someone doesn't have a label when they come out(or ever) doesn't mean they're any less valid.

Assorted Headcannons

Living the kind of lifestyle they do is stressful sometimes

They love each other, dont get them wrong, but other people judge them and it gets to them sometimes

Chandler and Duke act like it doesn't affect them but in reality they're just better about hiding it

JD doesn't really care as long as their happy, but the relationship created a rift in Veronica's friendship with Betty and Martha

They wanted her to be happy, but she's dating all 3 of the people who bullied them, and herself, for years and that hurts

And honestly, they don't really believe the Heathers changed

Deep down, they believe that its all a trick, one giant final prank

Eventually Veronica was able to convince them that the Heathers were genuine, but they still kept an eye out for any evidence otherwise

Their distrust didn't fully go away until they sold them Duke's old house for cheap, literally a dollar, plus sending them some money and helping find them jobs

As for their parents, well Duke's and Chandler's are dead and Mac's mom fucked off years ago, so all they have is Mac's dad and Veronica's

Mac's dad doesn't care as long as Mac is happy

He's a good dad, maybe a little out of touch but he trusts the other Heathers to treat his daughter right

Veronica's parents, however, were more like Martha and Betty

When Veronica first told them that she was dating all 3 of them, they were concerned to say the least

They were already concerned with the changes in their daughter after she joined the Heathers, and they were sure they were manipulating her and this was their next step

Veronica called JD to try and convince them and that did not help, like at all

Eventually she got fed up and left and spent the night at Mac's and told the Heathers what happened

They all went back the next day and Chandler went on a whole rant about how much she loved Veronica and all the good she's done for them and that she doesn't care what they think and she'll love her regardless

This started the process of slowly changing her parent's minds towards them

But even beside family and friends, strangers treat them differently

They're used to being treated like goddesses at school so the change to real life was jarring for them

They decided early on that they weren't going to hide their relationship and be open about it in public

Even though they understood what this would mean for how they would be treated they all decided that being true to themselves was more important than anything

Whenever they go to the mall people whisper behind their backs about the weird lesbians who are all dating

Cashiers sometimes make comments when they check out

Children stare at them and ask their parents why those 4 girls all kissed each other

Men come up to them and 'joke' about having a 5-way or showing them that one man could satisfy them more than 3 women

This would take its toll on anyone, even the solid teflon bitches themselves

If Chandler gets stressed or pissed off enough, she will start screaming at whoever pissed her off

Like its a Karen level screaming match

She calls out their every minute flaw and she has made multiple people cry with how devastating her insults get

Duke goes straight to violence

She might be small but she can punch hard

She's broken arms and ribs before and she does not feel bad about it

Whenever it looks like Duke is getting to that point, Mac will grab her arm incase she decides to attack

She has gotten arrested many times but they just throw money at them or the judge until they drop the charges

Mac bottles it all up until she can't hold it in anymore and breaks down

She'll just collapse onto her bed or the couch and just sob

The other girls try and comfort her but they’res nothing they can really do until she calms herself down

Veronica just tries to get out of the situation, either by just going 'ok ok you win' or just walking away

She wants to be like Chandler and just scream until her throat is sore but she doesn't have the confidence like her to draw all that attention to herself

Ok thats enough angst

Chandler's favorite animal are cats

Duke once told her that she's literally just a cat in a human body and she hissed

Sometimes when they are laying down and Mac is playing with her hair she'll start purring

She loves how they're just little needy assholes

She's crushed that Heather the cat doesn't love her

The cat only tolerates her whenever she has treats

Duke loves giraffes bc they're tall and she's short

Its her dream to ride one while gloating that she's finally taller than Chandler

Mac loves all animals obviously

Dogs, Cats, Rabbits, Deer, if its big enough for her to hug she loves it

Heather the cat gets so mad if Mac's attention is taken by any person or animal when she wants attention

She will hiss and scratch until she gets what she wants

Chandler and the cat have a rivalry going on for Mac's attention

Mac tried to do another game night, this time Wii Sports

Baseball went ok, but during Tennis Duke started dominating and Chandler nearly swung her remote into Duke's face

During Bowling, Mac tried to get Duke to wear the wrist strap but Duke said "I'm a bad bitch I don't need no wrist strap"

The remote ended up flying into the wall

They just put a painting over it

Duke got like 5 strikes in a row, destroying Chandler

They faced each other during Boxing for the final round and once Duke won Chandler screamed and they tried choking each other out with the cord connecting the nunchuck to the wii

Chandler's favorite Disney movie is Sleeping Beauty bc she needs her beauty sleep to look good and she's just like her fr

Duke likes The Emperor's New Groove bc she likes the memes

Instead of telling someone to turn off the lights she'll say "pull the lever Kronk"

Baby's First Pride

I'm 16 and a half years old. I came out to my parents inspired by a story at my school's GSA - just walk up the stairs and call it out. I was terrified, but they were accepting, and I learnt that my brother has trans friends and that Mom even experimented with girls when she was a teen. It's 5:10 PM, so it's probably time to go to the pride event Mom has been talking about all week. She said her boss told her about it, and that it's all ages. I get dressed in my Hatsune Miku cosplay, drape my Aromantic pride flag around my shoulders, and tie the ends in a reef knot around my neck to wear it as a cape.

I go downstairs, putting my Miku wallet in my bag, and take a short video of me twirling around to send it to my friends captioned 'ARO MIKU IS GOING TO PRIDE.' When I get outside, my parents and Mom's friend coo at my outfit, saying I look nice. They say goodbye to Mom's friend and they get ready, and they stop at Walmart to buy 'pride gear' to try and match my look. They get me pins, because they know I love pins.

I listen to my playlist of Magical Mirai albums as Dad drives us to the pride event. He does an illegal U-turn, and I tell him cops aren't allowed at pride, so we're okay. We park.

When we get there, the first thing we notice is all the food trucks. We ate before we came here, because they didn't think there'd be food. The first thing we do is Mom and Dad get alcoholic canned drinks, and they later buy me a cold vanilla latte at a different booth. We start walking around.

Mom's more interested in the concert being held by a queer artist who's name I didn't catch, and she jokes about us going to mosh there. I tell her it's dangerous and that I'm wearing my binder right now, and my dad comments that he didn't even notice.

While we're standing and waiting around, Dad perplexedly exclaims that there's a bar. I tell him as a joke that of course there's a bar, this is pride. He doesn't get it, so I explain the history of gay bars and the Mafia and all of that, and tell him the original pride parade was a protest where parking meters were uprooted and bricks were thrown at cops.

We start walking around to the several booths of queer creatives selling their art, and my eyes are battling between scouting for pins and looking at all the kinds of people here. It's truly all ages, from seniors to toddlers. I see as many visibly disabled and plus-size people as I do visibly abled and skinny people. When we first started walking in to the event, we saw a person in a cutesy lolita-styled outfit with cat ears and tail in the trans colours, in front of someone embracing their trans flag.

As I look around, I see various flags: bi, pan, lesbian, trans, nonbinary, genderfluid. On a couple people's shirts I see the ace flag. But as far as I'm aware, I'm the only person here in this entire crowd wearing the Aromantic flag. It's bittersweet, to be the sole representation of your people.

I see people in all styles of clothing as well: goth, punk, alternative, grunge, trendy, cute, casual, retro. I see some people standing out in absolutely fabulous outfits with sequins everywhere. I see a dog in a gay-coloured tutu, and a person with pride-coloured butterfly wings on their arms. Half the people here have dyed hair of some kind.

We sit down and take a break. It's near the mini waterpark nearby, which makes it fresh and cool-feeling and perfect for a break. A child with endless joys in their heart ends up spraying us with water, and we get a move on. I go around to multiple booths and buy an assortment of pins, one that says "I'M SO GAY I CAN'T EVEN THINK STRAIGHT" and one with a fuzzy Aro-coloured animal on it.

When we sit for a final break, I find two dirty books on the ground as Mom hands me a progress flag pin she found. I pick up the books. One is a 'queer history tour' of Edmonton brochure that has multiple locations of down-town and their associated queer histories. The other book is a mental wellness book targeted mainly at Indigenous folk, but I decide to take it any way since a lot of it advice applies to everyone. I show my Mom the page on ableist language, that talks about replacing words like 'crazy,' 'insane,' and 'psycho' with words like 'wild,' 'bananas,' and 'ridiculous.'

When we start walking back to the car, we see a group of four dressed ridiculously. One of them has massive, bouncing balloon tits, and they stand out the most. I'm afraid of what my parent's reaction will be, and this is what I told them to be nice about before we came, because pride was and still is a protest. They laugh and move on. I'm a little surprised that they're so cool with it.

We stop by the truck at the very start of the walk as Mom comments on it. It's a kink gear store. I stare in awe at the bear pride flag and leather puppy pride flag, telling my family about them. I have to ask one of them to confirm it's the leather puppy flag because I'm not wholly sure, and the people running the truck smile as they teach me about it.

We drive home, and as we walk back to the house, I think about Mom and Dad's reaction to the person with the balloon tits. I think about how they laughed kindly at one of the biggest displays of societal norm defiance I've ever seen. And then I think about the openly disabled people I saw with their pretty canes and wheelchairs, I think about the punks with fishnets and leather jackets and high boots, I think about the emo kandi kids with their black-and-rainbow stockings and vibrant kandi cuffs, I think about the booth run by African black people that stood for trans black liberation, I think about the truck run by kinksters decorated with historical flags, I think about the two feminine-presenting people I saw kissing and the transmasculine gay couple I saw holding hands.

I think about all of us, the societal outcasts that we are, proudly displaying what outcasted us in the first place, without a single person yelling that we're faggots, or trannies, or cripples, or fatasses, or freaks.

And for the first time in a long time, in all my childhood where I was ostracized from the girls for being too tomboyish from the boys for being born a girl, so badly until I started ostracizing myself, I know that I'm safe and welcome, somewhere in the world.

I have no words. Imagine how Jimin must’ve felt. I know they grew out of this (Although someone claimed V said something homophobic behind the scene at an Award show about an idol who isn’t out) but this is still very fucked up and nobody can tell me this behaviour plus the comments about his appearence and weight didn’t affect Jimin maybe even more than antis’s comments would

I take into consideration that they were boys, in a very patriarchal society like Korea is. Those type of comments and "jokes" must've been ingrained in them and they probably didn't even realize it was wrong to say stuff like that.

However, finding reasons and understanding their poor behavior, their lack of empathy, lack of tact and their machismo has nothing to do with how that might've affected Jimin. More than one thing can be true; yes, they were being ignorant and mean on purpose. Maybe they didn't understand the implications, but whether they understood it or not doesn't determinate how Jimin might've felt about it.

I also think it could've taken a toll on his mental health and self confidence (even if he has plenty of that right now), more than anything when you factor in the way all of that was said in public. It's one thing to have your family members or friends pulling your hair in private, but it's a different thing to stand in front of millions and try to make you feel ashamed of something.

I'm a really strong person, I've always been so. One time when I was 15 I was invited to a "quinceañera" (latam girls we celebrate out 15 years old with a big party), but my girlfriend hadn't been invited. I tried getting in touch with the birthday girl and asked her if I could take my "friend" with me and it was all ok. My mom got angry when she found out I had invited my (girl)friend. Right before the party we argued and she screamed at me "what are you now, a lesbian?! The last thing I need is for you to be a lesbian" (I had never told her we were dating but she always suspected) And I started crying so much. I've never had any issues with my sexuality or anything, but being put on the spot like that hurt and it was embarrassing.

A lot of times I think of those BTS moments like that, but a thousand times worse because of the cameras. Even if it didn't hurt his feelings, it had to be embarrassing at least. But Jimin has always handled everything so well and has never shown even the slightest hint of shame or anything. In fact, when they talk about him being the one to give presents and all, Jimin was so smug and proud of himself. He never had a problem with showing his feelings and love even if the recipients were men.

I've had problems with people talking as if Jimin was a toxic male for years. This a post from September 2021 and I was already talking about it and trying to push back against that narrative and wording because that's never been Jimin. It was literally every other member who had to learn a lot about how to treat people nicely.

okay i promise this is not a pro-st4ncy post by any means but hear me out. i understand that we would all like steve to be over nancy, but here's why he's not... (this got super long sorry i never see anyone talk about steve and i wanted to)

ok so beginning of s2 steve has essentially no direction in life and it's clear that he's having a lot of self doubt as a result, which makes sense. it's clear that he feels pressure to Do Something with his life, but he doesn't know what that something is. now. it's established that he is sort of making nancy his purpose. this is seen seen through their convo in the car s2 when he says maybe he should just stay in hawkins and work for his dad so that he can be around for nancy's senior year. (then again he demonstrates this in s4 with the... ahem... six little nuggets talk. his only ambitions are to have a family with nancy.) but let's go back to s2 for now.

(disclaimer that i do not fault nancy for any of what i am about to say, because she at no point had any mal intent. she is just a traumatized teenage girl doing her best)

so steve is essentially all in on nancy. she is his purpose. and she tells him she loves him... when she doesn't. or at least she doesn't actually want to be with him at this point. then, after telling him she loves him (we see it once but it's said casually so we can assume she probably said it more than once) it is revealed to steve through their fight that she doesn't actually love him. AND THEN she goes on to date jonathan (i am a j4ncy stan for life don't come for me) and jonathan is essentially The Guy She Told Him Not To Worry About. right!? like. with everything that happened s1 with nancy insisting jonathan was just a friend, and by the end of s1 steve came to accept this, not standing in the way of nancy and jonathan's friendship and even buying jonathan a new camera for nancy to give to jonathan on his behalf. BUT it's clear that steve still felt in the back of his mind that something was up, demonstrated by his comment in s2 about jonathan being nancy's "other boyfriend." now idk how many of you have been left for The Guy You Weren't Supposed To Worry About... but it sucks. it makes you feel stupid and it makes you feel inferior.

okay now fast forward to s3. he finds a potential rebound: robin buckley. he's not consciously looking for her to be a rebound, but that's essentially what she would have been. he says he's not in love with nancy anymore because he "found someone a little better for him" (robin.) on top of that, robin literally told steve she was obsessed with him in high school and held his hand on the roof, so he's definitely picking up Vibes, plus dustin is encouraging him to pursue robin. he's not expecting a rejection. then he gets rejected! and no matter how cool he was about the rejection, it was still a rejection, and rejections hurt! ouchie! rebound failed spectacularly due to lesbianism 👍

AND THEN nancy comes back into his life in s4, and i don't think i need to break down the steve/nancy events of s4 other than to say nancy was definitely not Discouraging him in any way. plus eddie tells him nancy is still in love with him because she jumped in the water, and i don't care if steve respects eddie's opinion or not, if a stranger tells me the person i'm in love with is in love with me, my hopes are going up, even against my better judgment. and even robin is picking up on vibes that things between nancy and jonathan are weird, so obviously steve would pick up on that too!

all of this to say: if i were steve, i wouldn't be over it either so stop being mean to him.

i’ve just discovered this and god damn it im fuming

her tweet… there was absolutely nothing serious about it - and surely, surely rory burns knew the traction that the tweet was gonna get when he reposted it with his comments (especially with jimmy and ben liking it - two of the biggest names in english cricket and sport). plus ben ducketts comments

i just don’t see how anyone thinks that was a serious tweet… and the fact that it led to death threats - without any sort of formal apology to alex from the male players (who must know that by shaming her for that tweet they were opening the doors for misogyny)…. it’s just not right.

and yh… alex probs could’ve worded it better - but on no level did that tweet deserve death threats….

also… the nerve of jimmy liking rory’s tweet claiming to support the women’s games - after jimmy’s tweet calling stuart a ‘lesbian’ due to his hairstyle (more on that -> https://amp.theguardian.com/sport/2021/jun/08/we-do-feel-anxious-jimmy-anderson-difficult-time-for-england-players) and his support of the women’s game being…. limited (pretty much all i can find is his input on the charlie dean run out situation and the double header stuff he’s done on the hundred) - if anyone can find anymore i’d love to see

and again with ben i’ve found a little more stuff about him supporting the women’s game - but a lot of what i’ve seen is stuff about the hundred helping women’s cricket to grow and reactions to that ecb report claiming that cricket is sexist racist and homophobic - so not loads of him being like “supporting our women!!” (all seems a little scripted in interviews and stuff)(again if anyone can find more stuff i’d love to see it)

they claim that they’re supporting the ladies… but publicly arguing with them (knowing that within sports and patriarchal society as a whole - the hold the power) isn’t support… it’s like alex said - all rory needed to do was send a private message being like “this isn’t funny… we don’t think it’s funny” and i’m sure she would’ve reacted

so not saying that any of them are bad people - just that none of them seem to understand the privilege and power they hold as male athletes- especially in comparison to female athletes, and the responsibility that privilege gives them

I totally agree with your post. The other point I would say is, it’s so unhinged to me that M*tty can just feel comfortable saying along the lines of ‘ I never would’ve come (to your country) if I knew…’, because then he might as well decide to never perform in America again then either? Because they overturned Roe VS Wade which people can technically say makes them an immoral country too? Because they have no proper gun control? Like, now many countries issue a warning to people when trying to book flights to America now, as they are classed as a high risk country. And I know he’s made comments on that, but to say he shouldn’t of decided to come to the country is soooo wild & hypocritical to me. Not to mention as a white British person how complicated it is for him to say that, whilst his country is literally blocking the independence of Scotland💀 If I knew him I would be like bro…concentrate on your own country instead of trying to ‘save’ a country you have deemed as in need of more help due to your own internalised british beliefs of white saviourism..

You’re absolutely right! To me there are two issues which are often mixed up:

1. Whether it’s okay to perform in a country that isn’t the best when it comes to civil and social rights, and

2. Whether it’s okay to indirectly support the governments of said countries, by making them look good.

The second issue is pretty easy to solve (imo): if a singer gets paid directly from a government to perform in its country or to promote its tourism on social media, and said government is using the singer to look good and sweep under the rug the way it ignores its citizens’ rights, then the singer sucks and should definitely be criticized.

BUT a government is NOT its citizens, and soooooo many Western people fail to remember that. As I said a few days ago, I have a Russian friend and she despises Putin (she always has) and she hates the war, but what is she supposed to do? Two friends of hers from university protested in the streets and they were EXPELLED from the university, their future ruined. Not to mention all those who were killed. So, again, what is she supposed to do? She hates the government, but there’s nothing she can do about it.

And why should the people in a country (who maybe hate the government and its policies) suffer constantly and not get anything good ever just because their government sucks?

Plus:

No country is perfect. No artist ever skips Italy in their tour, for example, and yet we suck. Right now the party that holds the majority in the Parliament has a fascist symbol in its badge (yep!), we’re the only Western European country that still hasn’t legalized gay marriage (we have civil unions, which are similar but offer less rights), and many local governments are deciding not to recognize anymore the children of lesbian couples as children of both mothers, but only as children of the mother who gave birth to them. Which means that a lot of women in Italy suddenly aren’t legally mothers of anyone, and they can’t visit their children in hospital, they can’t pick them up from school, they can’t go on a trip with them, and if they break up with their partner they don’t have any rights towards the children.

Not to mention all the people that die in the Mediterranean every year.

Who gets to decide which rights are worth protesting and which aren’t? Artists shouldn’t go to Malaysia, but the US is okay? Italy is okay? China is okay as long as it brings money? Where do you draw the line?

It’s a very slippery slope.

The government isn’t its citizens, full stop.

MH sucks. Tbf, he said something about Scotland this year (if I remember correctly). He said something like “this is a country” before performing a song. He could’ve acted out and screamed and slurred like he did in Malaysia, but apparently some rights deserve his rage, others barely deserve an acknowledgement 😒.

If he was angry he could’ve chosen not to perform and support the LGBTQ citizens of Malaysia in another way. Instead he had to make it all about himself, as always.

It wouldn't be a favourite character list without my most recent spin - Wednesday. I have had the pleasure of watching all three incarnations of Wednesday Addams and I love that she's just unapologetically herself. Plus the fact that she's autistic coded makes my heart sing.

5. Bingo

Yes I'm a neurodivergent adult healing my inner child. I relate to Bingo a lot as I'm the younger sibling with an older sister and me and her were exactly like Bluey and Bingo as kids.

6. Gwen Stacy (Into/Across The Spiderverse)

She's a badass Spiderwoman that screams trans rights - that is all. (Plus she's a ballerina and plays drums that's fucking cool).

7. Isabelle

I love Isabelle so much that she's tattooed on me. Such a great worker and kicks ass on Smash Bros in her spare time.

8. Laszlo Cravensworth

I love that his character subverts the typical teenage vampire heartthrob and is just a british guy who loves his wife. (Also Jackie Daytona has my heart).

9. Stolas

This guy is a mess and I love him.

Lmfao not surprised about the (most likely) straight dudes making those salty comments about finlay. Look, if malenia were real or if those dudes existed in the world of ER, i am 1000% sure malenia wouldn't even give them the attention she gave godrick. Plus hey im willing to bet those dudes overlap with those other dudes who complain unconstructively about malenias boss fight. It just feels like they're that kind of gamerbrodudes.

When you’ve been around enough fandoms like I have you kind of get used to this sort of thing but yeah they’re 100% salty straight men there’s no doubt. The thing that’s funny is turning around and saying Malenia’s not/can’t be a lesbian is just flat out untrue because there’s absolutely no reference to her having a love interest of any kind. So for that alone people can headcanon whatever they want. I am really not in the business of trying to gatekeep characters and ‘ship wars’ or whatever don’t interest me in the slightest, but what I do get annoyed with is how these comments always end up being fueled by homophobia. It’s never *insert valid reason why I don’t like ship* and instead it’s just “you fucking gays try to ruin everything” and that’s when it hurts cause it gets personal, you know? I’m already made to feel bad about my sexuality by the people in my everyday life, I really don’t need that shit on here too. I get that it’s the internet and you’re always going to come across these people, but at least there’s the block button on here.

So yeah if I’m being honest I’ve seen way too many men talk about her in disgusting ways, either venting because of her boss fight or because of lore (R*dahn fanboys are still nuts go figure). That it kind of puts me off listening to what they have to say about her cause most of the time their comments are filled with violent misogyny. So many clips I see of her fight have titles like “giving the bitch what she deserves” or “putting the bitch in her place”. But hey that’s got nothing to do with her being a woman right? Just people being annoyed at the fight, right? How some folks like to outright deny the exsitence of sexist dudebros in this fandom is beyond me. Have they never been around gaming communities before? Just because they might not see them themselves doesn't mean they don't exsit. It’s not so bad now, but there was a time it was so difficult looking up content for her cause I’d end up seeing rape porn or fics or other nasty things. Imagine getting so angry at a boss fight in a video game that your first thought is rape. If that’s were your mind goes you’ve got a problem. I don’t believe in these types of fetishes at all. No normal person thinks about these things, fictional or not. And saying it’s only fiction and that no one wants to actually do these things irl is just an excuse to justify themselves. There are people out there who do very much get influenced by the things they see online and then act on it in real life. So it’s not just innocent fiction if you ask me.

I don’t know how many more times I need to remind you all but there are two canons. Asoiaf and g*t just as there are two Alicent’s. Actual Alicent and Alicia from redacted.

I only debate asoiaf canon unless it’s to make a joke and in that case I mock redacted.

So let’s see who is asoiaf Alicent that some of you try to mix up with Alicia though it takes some pathological levels of cognitive dissonance 😂

Asoiaf Alicent is ten years older than Rhaenyra. She was actually 18 when she married King Viserys who was 28. If any redacted fan needs reminder this is actually one of the smallest age differences considering the Dance couples and in Westeros not only were girls married as young as 13, but 16 was considered the age of majority. No one would consider a 15 year old a child and too young for intercourse. Be that as it may the one seduced at 15 - by Daemon who didn’t give half a fig about her age - was Rhaenyra. Oh and he didn’t suffer from erectile disfunction.

Alicent also became a mother when she was 19-20, an age were most women already had kids. For instance redacted fans, did you know that by 20 Rhaenyra had three sons? And she became a mother at 17 so at least 2 years younger than Alicent? And she married Daemon when she was 23 and he 39. Just a thought if age differences bother you and young women being seduced bother you 😌

But back to Asoiaf Alicent.

We have no indication of her being a lesbian, and if she was, I would certainly not say she had the hots for a woman she bullied all her life, that she wished to die in childbirth, whose sons she called “bastard blood shed at war”, and who took on under her employment a man who she had previously called out for being a creep to her then 12-13 year old stepdaughter. Yes. The only person in the books who says something that could imply that there was something going on between Rhaenyra and Criston - with a somewhat big stretch due to her age and what happened afterwards - was Alicent Hightower.

Does she do anything about it? Yes, takes him under her employment after Rhaenyra is forced to marry Laenor.

Yea that’s right, Rhaenyra is forced to marry not Alicent.

So you see Anon, I discuss asoiaf canon, and the Alicent people like and defend, and the one you are talking about, is redacted Alicia which is a different character so I can’t really comment unless to say she’s actually a walking meme whose entire personality is suffering at the hands of eVIL mEn and show how deranged the Tedescos - especially the men of course - are. Still my heart goes out to her because she was married against her will to the pos wife killer that suffers from Leprosy.

Plus she had to be friends with Renada.
