That Time of Month
Leon x F!Reader
A/N: This is my experience with periods. I don’t know exactly how they should normally work other than getting them at the same time every month. So I just went with what mine are like.
Words: 1,672 Contains: Fluff, Period talk, Domestic Leon.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Leon was coming home today, he had been in quarantine for the passed week. He had been texting you through your cheap burn phones. He always hated being stuck in DSO's Private hospital rooms, they were nice as you have stayed in there multiple times before. But you liked the quiet time where you could just read, draw and listen to music while you passed the time slowly. Not having to worry about your job. For Leon, however, it was absolute torture after the first 2 days. He would get antsy try to find something to do, anything! Colouring the provided adult colouring books, reading, he would listen to his music, but he would soon start pacing. He was mainly extroverted, though he didn't need to be out and doing something on the town type of extroverted. He liked his company, yes going out was a bonus, but he liked to be around people. You especially.
Your phone buzzes. "Almost home :P" You smile at the text and begin typing your reply.
"Don't text and drive."
"Make me"
You just chuckle to yourself, placing your phone back down on the island bench. You had been cleaning all morning, having gotten back from a job yourself, but didn't come into contact with any viruses or parasites, so quarantine wasn't needed. The house was usually tidy because both of you seemed to be on a lot of jobs lately, seeming to come home, get one good night's sleep then back out on the field. But you had been home for 4 days now and had been lazy with dishes, plus the bathroom and bedroom needed a good cleaning and vacuuming.
You did this all despite getting your period. You didn't get them on the regular maybe skipping a few months at a time to a few years, those times would get Leon's hopes up that you could be pregnant, but the tests were always negative. Luckily you had felt that cramping last night and put a pad on just to be safe. You felt like crap and would sometimes have to stop what you were doing, bending over to put pressure on your pelvis to help with the bout of pain. Currently you were standing in the kitchen doing the dishes, looking around the large space of your living area, your sink being on the island bench facing out so you could converse while cleaning up. The thought of how lucky you were despite your job and the things you have seen, you had an amazing 2 story house out in the hills, a loving boyfriend who you were hoping was going to propose to you at any time, but honestly didn't mind if you didn't get married. It was mainly the thought. You were basically husband and wife already, just without the legality and paperwork, and rings were a slight hazard, even though you would both wear gloves when out on a job.
Your thoughts were interrupted by the uncomfortable crampage turning up to a 9, causing you to squat down in a ball of discomfort and pain. You feel your skin going clammy and was sure you lost all your colour, one hand still holding onto the edge of the bench above your head. You were in so much pain you didn't even hear the door opening.
"I'm home!" Calls an all too familiar voice from the front door, all the way across the room from where the kitchen was.
Strange.. There was no response? Leon was sure you were home. Dropping his keys in the bowl beside the entrance with a clang, he drops his bag while looking around. He could smell the citrus of the cleaning products you liked to use and saw a nicely lit house. You had opened all the curtains to the windows and letting a nice cool breeze in. Yeah you were definitely here, so why were not you running at him and leaping into his arms like he would normally be welcomed home.
"(Y/N)? You here?" He calls scanning the kitchen area and seeing some fingers, white from gripping the edge tight. They lift up and give a wave.
"Over here.." You say grunting out your words.
That didn't sound good, Leon makes his way towards the kitchen and peers around the island bench to see you scrunched up in a ball. He walks over to you and kneels down placing a hand on your shoulder, you felt all cold and clammy. "Hey.. What's wrong?" He asked with worry in his voice. Seeing your flushed face as you look up to him, your nose wrinkled in pain.
"Period.." Was all you could get out, exhaling through the cramp, this one was lasting a while.
Leon's shoulders relax, he thought you had been hurt, well, you were hurting, but it was nothing either of you could really do and you weren't bleeding out. Well.... You were, but this was the 'natural' type. "Alright, up we go." He said lifting you into his arms. He gives you a kiss on the temple as he walks you over to the lounge.
"Welcome home, by the way." You were starting to come back to reality, the cramping finally starting to calm to a more bareable pain.
"We really should get you checked out, I'm a guy and even I don't think this is normal." He said skipping over your welcome home, but it didn't go unappreciated.
"I know.. But when have I got the time? The appointments have to be made in advance and we don't know when we will be back or going out on jobs." You say as Leon places you down on the couch. He gives a frustrated look as you were very right, but he hated seeing you this way. It wasn't often, thank god, but when it did happen he absolutely abhorred that your body would do this to you.
"Do you think maybe you could be pregnant? You seem to be in more pain than normal?" He asked. "I heard one of the office girls talk about the pain she felt before she found out she was pregnant."
You shake your head. "No.. I'm bleeding this time."
"Oh.. Right." He sounded disappointed. You knew he wanted at least one kid. Though you were both getting older, and having a child in your line of work was just a death wish for the child. That or easy orphanage, and Leon was an orphan so he didn't want to put any child through that. But he still would have that glimmer of hope in his eyes.
Leon makes his way to the hallway leading to the bathroom, toilet and 2 guest rooms. Opening the doors of a closet built into the wall, he takes out a maroon wheat pack. Placing it in the microwave for 3 minutes, he searches around the kitchen cupboards for some snacks. You had said you were out shopping the other day when he called you from how bored he was, then he suddenly remembered. Walking over to his bag beside the front door he picks it up and takes it over to you.
Kneeling down in front of you on the couch he reaches into his bag, pulling out some sour lollies, a box of Ferrero Rocher's and a very crushed flower he had picked on his way home. "Oh.. um.. This did look pretty." He said with a sheepish smile, you take it from his hand anyway and smell it.
"It still smells nice though." You smile and lean towards him, Leon closing the gap between you as your lips touch and a quick kiss.
The microwave beeps and he makes his way over there, removing the wheat back and bouncing it in his hand as it was hot to the touch to start with. You realise the room starting to get darker, hearing the curtains being closed.
"You don't have to, I know you like the sunlight coming through."
"I do, but we can't watch a movie with the glare." He replies. Grabbing a blanket from the another couch before laying it over you, placing the wheat pack over your pelvis. You sigh with relief after a short moment, Leon standing beside you until he heard your discomfort lessening.
"What movie were you thinking of watching?" You ask knowing what the answer was going to be already.
"Do you even have to ask?" He said grabbing the remote controls, sitting you up he grabs a few pillows to place on his lap so you could lean against them.
"Kung Fu Panda 2 it is then." You smile as you lean back into the pillows and as Leon wraps his arms around you. You were already eating the sour lollies he had bought. "Did you just happen to grab these?"
"Well I was going to ask if you wanted a date night and this could be after snacks. But plans have changed and I'll go out to get some takeaway." He answers pressing another few kisses to your temple. He had really missed you, both dancing around each other with separate jobs lately over the passed month. You would come home and Leon would have been pulled out to work that previous night, then he would come home and you had been sent international that morning.
"Sorry.." You apologise feeling guilty that you had ruined his plans.
"Sorry? It's not your fault you're in pain." He reasons, not accepting the apology. "Besides, I get a week off so we can do whatever you want when you are ready." He smiled and starts to search for his favourite movie.
You both spend the rest of the afternoon watching the movie then catching up, just talking about your jobs and what you had experienced, needing to talk to each other about it and how you were feeling. Leon then leaves to get some Chinese and sushi, coming home with many different options. Tonight was a night of alcohol, laughing and feasting.

A/N: I meant to post this last week for ATEEZ’s 4th anniversary, but better late than never lol
As Dahae helped Celestia feel comfortable until they could get paramedics on the scene, San ran around the ship in a joyful dance and chanting, “I have a little princess!” as soon as the ship landed in Niagara Falls, New York. The crew was anxious to meet the new baby ever since they heard her cries break through the walls, and their navigator was celebrating like a child who received a puppy for Christmas.
“Her little feet are so cute,” San excitedly told the crew as he described his little daughter to them, “even her toes are so tiny and precious.”
“I bet!” Taeran smiled. “Is Celestia okay?”
“She’s fine as far as we know, but we’re just hoping a doctor can confirm that and the baby’s health.”
“I don’t think you have to wait much longer,” Yunho said as he came around the corner. “The ambulance just pulled up, so they’re bringing the gurney up.”
Within a few minutes, two paramedics climbed aboard the ship, pulling the said gurney up with them. They carefully lifted Celestia, who was still holding a swaddled and crying Emerald, onto it and asked her important questions such as “How is your pain?” “What did the baby’s crying sound like?” “What time was she born?” and much more. Mother, baby, and father (who had quickly grabbed the hospital bag) loaded up into the ambulance outside and drove away towards the hospital, the loud silence disrupting the joyous early morning.
Dahae then busied herself in cleaning up the bloody bed sheets and towels and any mess that was made in the room during the birth. She couldn’t help but cry tears of joy for her friends’ new addition as she tidied up the room for them when they returned. Images of her and Hongjoong hopefully having their own children were swimming around in her head at the same time, and she felt so warm inside.
“Are you okay?” Hongjoong poked his head in noticing the blood-stained sheets.
“Yeah,” she sniffed with a nervous chuckle and wiped her eyes. “I don’t mean to be so emotional. I’m just super happy for them, and Emerald is just so cute.”
Hongjoong smiled and replied, “She is, and you got to help bring her into the world. I’m so proud of you.”
“It was exhausting, and I wasn’t the one giving birth. But the important thing is that Celestia and the baby are okay for the most part.”
The captain kissed his fiancée’s forehead.
“Since you’ve been helping the Choi’s, how about you stay and rest for this one?” he suggested.
“Are you sure?” Dahae asked with a yawn.
“Positive. Plus, you’ll have the cat to keep you company.”
“Rest and on cat duty. Got it.”
Hongjoong chuckled at her joke. “I promise we’ll be back soon. The Falls aren’t that far at all, so we’ll come running if needed.”
Dahae steps foreward and cups his face. “Please, be careful, my love,” she begged.
“I’ll try,” he nods.
With one more kiss, Hongjoong puts his hat back on and heads out of the room.
Gathering the rest of the crew and Dalia up, he goes over the plan to get inside the cave behind the waterfall. They would be out of view of the tourists who would be coming in that morning, so they didn’t have to worry about sneaking past security. There was a path in the nearby woods that would lead them to the waterfall, in which they would have to press up against in order to carefully walk the narrow ledge to reach the entrance of the cave behind the wall.
Seonghwa’s face turned pale. His own mother had perished from falling off of a cliff, and ever since then he’s had a bit og phobia of heights. He wasn’t sure if he would be able to handle the ledge when none of them would be wearing any climbing gear. He managed to table it knowing he was secure on the ship while thousands of feet in the air, but when there’s nothing there to catch you, it sent chills down his back.
“You okay, babe?” Grace-Anne whispers, her hand gently resting on his tricep.
He snaps out of his daze. “I guess,” he replies. “It’s the cliff part…”
“None of us are gonna let you fall. Just look at me or the wall we hold on to.”
As encouraged as he was, he felt his heart drop into his stomach as they prepare to leave the ship. He did some breathing exercises on the hike to the waterfall, but it didn’t help his pounding heart. Images of his mother’s final moments replied in his mind the second he saw Niagara, and he gulped when he saw the path down to the cave.
The captain stepped down first and whipped out the climbing claws Taeran and Yunho had brainstormed at the last minute. It wasn’t exactly climbing gear, but it would help them reach the cave. Seonghwa want next, mainly to try to conquer the phobia, and Grace-Anne followed behind him. One by one the others followed suit with their own climbing claws.
“Isn’t this the part where you say ‘Don’t look down?’” Seonghwa whimpers as everyone carefully crossed the ledge. The roaring of the water didn’t make it any better.
“You’ll just look down anyway,” Yeosang responds as he’s helping Phoebe keep her footing.
“Look at me, the wall, or Hongjoong,” Grace-Anne reminded her fiancé.
It took about two minutes of scooting, but the crew made it to the cave. Seonghwa breathed a huge sigh of relief before falling on his knees and kissing the ground with a huge “Mwah!”
“You did it!” Grace-Anne praised him. “I’m so proud of you.”
“Catch your breath,” Hongjoong instructs, handing him a water bottle. “And then we’ll keep moving.”
Once Seonghwa felt okay to walk, the crew turned on their flashlights to explore the dark cave. This one didn’t have any traps, but it did have a few twists and turns here and there with some cave paintings splashed onto the walls. It felt almost peaceful from the chaos they had endured at the other locations. No one said a word during the walk as if afraid to disturb the peace, the only noise being the muffled sounds of Niagra Falls.
The cave soon opened up into a pocket, where something glittered in the wall ahead. Taking a pick ax, Jongho shattered the wall and picked up the piece they were looking for.
“Okay, the Rockies are next,” Hongjoong nods as the diamond was placed into Grace-Anne’s pouch.
“What about San and Celestia and the baby?” Wooyoung asks.
“We’ll come back for them. Right now, we have to leave the cave and plan a course to Colorado.”

What's a TV show you've gotten into recently? I’ve started/finished/caught up on several shows since being in the hospital the past 2 months, but the most recent one I started finally is Stranger Things. I’ve been meaning to watch it for awhile. I’m almost done with season 1. I’m a binge watcher and can get through seasons quickly, but since my brother and I are watching this together and we usually only have time for like 2-3 episodes (plus he’s not here everyday), it’s going to take longer. I’m really into it so far and I just want to catch up already. My blog is flooded with stuff from the latest season and I want to join in.
Do you have a hard time remembering your dreams? Yes. It’s weird, like I know it was something weird and random, but I can’t really tell you much else. And if I do remember, it’s for a brief time. Very rarely can I actually recall what happened and remember it later on. I’ve had ones that really effected me.
Have you ever or are you on any type of anti-depressant? I have been on them before, but not currently. Have you ever seen the movie Jennifer's body? I think I’ve seen parts of it. What was the last thing you painted? This cute little ceramic Easter decor. I had bought one for my brother and I to do on Easter together.
What's your favorite 90s song? I have a ton of favorite songs from the 90s.  Donuts or muffins? Ooh, both.  What's something you've been thinking about? My health issues are always center stage, plus just my life in general. I’m going through a lot right now and have a long road ahead. I’m also always thinking of food and drinks cause I haven’t been able to have either one in over 2 months. I just wanna go homeeeee. I wish I could recover at home and be with my family in my own room and bed. I want to see my precious doggo. D: Do you or anyone you know have asthma? I know people who do. What time is it currently? 10:29AM. Do you ever stay up late to see the moon at its peak? Not for that reason, no. I’m just always up late. What does your phone case look like? It’s pink and purple and full of cute little stickers I put on it and a phone charm.
Are you doing alright today? Meh. What's your favorite fizzy drink? Coke, Cherry Coke, Pepsi, Wild Cherry Pepsi, Dr. Pepper, Cherry Dr. Pepper, that new cream Dr. Pepper, Mountain Dew and various of its flavors.  Have you ever written a song? Ha, I attempted to when I was like 15/16 and going through my emo phase. When did you last pump gas? Never. Do you own a gun? Nope. Do you like milk in your coffee or tea? I like flavored creamer or Half and Half with sugar in my coffee and a packet or two of sugar with my tea. Do you have a lazy eye? No. Is your room normally messy or tidy? It’s usually pretty clean, but it’s a bit disorganized/cluttered right now because it’s been rearranged and sorted through to get rid of some stuff.  Do you enjoy windy days? No, I hate it.  Do you experience second hand embarrassment? Yeah, I have. What makes you feel confident? Nothing. What's your self care routine? I don’t have one... I haven’t taken the best care of myself in a lot of ways. :/ What would you define as "heartbreak weather"? Huh? Do you have a flower bed or flowers planted around your place of residence? We have some potted plants. What was the last thing you said out loud? I asked my nurse something. What's the last thing you remembered that you had recently forgotten? *shrug* What color is your shirt? I’m wearing a blue hospital gown. Do you have any regrets from this past week? Yes. What scents do you currently smell? *shrug* Hospital smells. What's your favorite flavorite chip/crisps? Andy Capp’s Cheddar Cheese Fries and the Ranch ones as well, Doritos Nacho Cheese, Dorito’s Cool Ranch, Lay’s Wavy chips. I love ranch, French onion, guacamole, and spinach and artichoke dips with those chips as well. What's your favorite snacks? Those chips and dips, Cheez-Itz, various sweets. Have you ever experienced vertigo? Yeah, several times. Not fun. What apps do you use the most on your phone? Kindle and Facebook. Who is someone you find to be pretty? Elizabeth Olsen. What's the heaviest weight you've ever lifted? I don’t lift weights. What color is the current object you're sitting on? White. Do you enjoy coloring books still? I do. I have a few of ‘em.

Cleaning tips that will help keep your home looking spick and span
A tidy home helps boost productivity and happiness. If you want to organize your psyche, you can start by organizing your room. When your room and house are in disarray, your thoughts are too. Once you clean and everything is tidied up you will want to write, read, cook and get dressed. Cleaning is a definite trigger for great things to unfold.
Cleaning can be overwhelming and off-putting so incorporate these tips in your lives to keep your house tidy.
Clean as you go: Instead of waiting for the house to get dirty and cleaning it in the end, start.
Clean clockwise and top-down: Walk into a room, choose a starting point and then work your way around clockwise always clean from the highest point to the floor because the dust will settle if done the other way around.
Do a little every day: Instead of having a huge load of laundry on a single day, you can break it into parts and do one half in the morning and the other half in the evening.
Fold immediately: Try folding your clothes immediately after it dries and do not keep them on a chair which will then lead to a cluttered space.
Always declutter: Rather than decluttering your space once a year, keep a basket in your house, bedroom or car and put things into it whenever you want to declutter. This is a great way to stay on top of things.
A place for everything: Tidying is really easier when everything has a place of its own. Make the most of the space.
Work smart and purchase great equipment: Invest in good cleaning machines and tools in order to save energy and money.

Organizations Providing Free Used Medical Equipment 2022
Used Medical Equipment: If you are in dire need of a wheelchair or other DME device, used medical equipment may be an answer. So, we are here to guide you in the different organisations that provide free and used medical equipment.
In this article, we have listed many different used medical equipment suppliers. Each sets their own standards for who qualifies for their items. Some agencies serve everyone, without restrictions.
Therefore, some have income guidelines, position guidelines, or other criteria. You will need to contact the agency to get more information on who qualifies for their program.
What are used medical equipment?
Used medical equipment means clean and refurbished durable medical equipment. These items, such as wheelchairs and hospital beds, no longer need their original owners.
They have been donated , tidied up, cleaned thoroughly and are now available to others who may need them. Since most of these items are donated, they are usually available for free.
Examples of used medical equipment include:
Wheelchairs (including vehicle lifts and portable wheelchair ramps)
Personal mobility devices
Geriatric chairs and seat posts
Breathing equipment
Hospital beds
Bedside tables
Shower chairs
Sensory aids
Obviously, the inventory varies according to the donations received by each agency. You will need to contact the supplier closest to you for details.
Med-Eq (USA)
This US organisation matches materials donated to charities in the US for distribution. Go to the Individual and Family Donation page and enter your location information. Additionally, you can include your donation and send it by post.
The selected Med-Eq Approval  charity will contact you for details. Finally, you can receive a tax deduction receipt from the end-user organisation you are paired with.
CURE Project (USA)
The CURE project cargo program delivers semi-trailer-sized containers carrying medical donations to understaffed hospitals. Also to community clinics and health centres in developing countries.
They also send CURE Kits which are prepackaged kits the size of a basic medical supplies suitcase for easy transportation. It is checked as baggage on your next trip to a community in need abroad.
However, there are six large distribution centres in the United States from which they receive and ship medical equipment. You can receive a tax deduction receipt from this organisation.
Hospice of Hope (UK)
This British charity sends donated medical supplies to Romania, Moldova and Albania . Hospice of Hope is specifically looking for wigs, walking aids, and wheelchairs right now, but is accepting other donations.
Then, you can leave the donation at one of their stores or send it by post.
Not just tourists (Canada)
This Canadian nonprofit claims to carry a suitcase and save a life. Suitcases full of medical supplies are sent with travellers to village clinics in remote areas around the world.
In addition, the supplies they send are typically gauze, bandages, masks, gloves, antiseptics, IV kits, and birthing kits.
There is a process in which donated supplies and suitcases are packed in Toronto and delivered. However, this must be followed.
Yad Sarah (Israel)
Yad Sarah is a medical equipment lending organisation in Israel. Consequently, it helps the chronically ill, the infirm and the terminally ill to live at home.
Plus, anyone who needs anything from baby cribs to hospital beds can come and borrow the equipment. They charge no fees for using their medical equipment, with people only having to leave a small deposit.
However, there are over 100 branches across the country. This service is also available for tourists. Any branch in Israel accepts medical donations.
Medshare (United States)
Medshare is a United States humanitarian aid organisation that provides excess essential medical equipment and supplies to medical facilities.
Medical collections go to the Medical Mission Team and Worldwide Healing Hands. Consequently, this helps the quality of care for women and children in Uganda, Hatti, Chad and Nepal.
In addition, they collaborate with the Ministry of Health in Ethiopia on a maternal and child health and disaster relief program. People with surplus medical goods must fill out the form on the website.
However, it is possible to receive a tax deduction receipt from this organisation.
Jacobs Well Appeal (UK)
This UK medical charity sends medical equipment and supplies to hospitals in developing countries. Donations from the past two years have gone to Ghana, Burkina Faso, and to help Syrian refugees.
The idea of getting medical supplies that you no longer need is to give them to people who can use them. Because they are poor or have little or no access to medical care.
Many organisations will take medical equipment and supplies from hospitals that are no longer needed or, better yet, never used. They also receive donations from doctors and dentists, but not all accept donations from individuals.

Another crazy week. :/
My mother started her radiation treatments recently & after a few days had to be hospitalized. It took the Dr.'s like 3 days to figure out what's going on. They think she has gout brought on by the radiation, as she already has arthritis & radiation tanks your immune system. She'll likely be in there for a bit. Thank goodness her insurance covers all hospital visits.
B/c of her reaction to the treatments she probably won't be going back to work until the fall. While I'm happy they know what's wrong with her, & can start her on medication, I'm also dreading having to be stuck in the house with her for 3 months.
Being disabled and stuck living with an abuser is something I would not wish on anyone.
On the plus side I haven't been so dizzy recently, so I can tidy up a bit. My mom's a walking tornado & every inch she occupies is covered in clutter. This is an issue because 1. yuck. & 2. too much visual noise triggers my vertigo. I get so much peace from a clean, quiet house so, once I finish picking up, I'll have that for a few days. It's cozy & rainy here today so the weather was perfect for cleaning.

In which racer!kuroo is your roommate, and seems to only like it when you treat his wounds... (word count: 1.9k)
Ngl quite proud of this one!!
Warnings: 18+, a whole lot of swearing, a whole lot of blood, innuendos and implied nsfw, reader almost vomits (NOT from pregnancy chill, I know we're all scarred but its going to be just fine) and if you're squeamish perhaps skip the scene where reader stitches his wound?
Also bit of a disclaimer: I am in NO WAY a med student and literally all of my knowledge is from movies and other fics... so if you acc know what to do in this situation this may be a torturous for you :D
Tumblr media
All due credits go to @aikk00 for this AMAZING fanart!!!!
I watch as my roommate enters the penthouse, once again scratched up and bleeding, covered in so much blood there is no possible way that it was all his- if it was he would not be standing.
I launch myself off the couch- where I was sitting for the past hour nervously waiting for his return- and slip my arm under his, supporting him as we inched towards the bathroom.
"I can do this by myself you know," he grumbles, his grimace revealing just how much pain he was actually in.
"Mhm, I'm sure you can. Just like you boiled that poor egg by yourself last week, hmm?" I say sarcastically, trying to keep my mind calm and clear, because oh my god it looks really bad this time...
"Oi, its not my fault it fuckin' exploded," he mutters, voice laden with pain.
"You put it in the microwave because 'the shitty water wasn't doing its job.' Of course it would explode," I say, gently seating him on the closed toilet seat and taking out my supplies that I unfortunately have become rather accustomed to using. He's made it a habit to get himself injured.
"Where's the injury?" I ask, setting down my half-empty bottle of antiseptic and box of bandages. He peels off his shirt, cringing at the pain it brought him as the fabric was stuck to the gash that went from his left pectoral down to the middle of his chest.
"Pissed off a bidder after winning a race, fucker took out a knife once he realised he couldn't beat me up," he huffs out, arrogance still lacing his tone even with sweat dripping down his brow as he leans the back of his head onto the tile wall behind him. His Adam's apple bobs down his bloodstained neck as he speaks, and I quickly look away, focusing on the injury at hand.
Not his blood soaked, but nevertheless well defined pectoral muscles, nor the abs that my hands occasionally brush up against and know how hard they really are, and definitely not the trail of black hairs that lead down, down, down...
"What's wrong, the view too hot to focus on the work at hand?" He asks suggestively, raising his pierced brow, even in this state.
I'm quick to reply, having gotten used to his flirtatious remarks from the second I moved into his penthouse, "nope can't even see the view from that massive head of yours. Not to mention your permanent bed head."
He huffs out a laugh, then proceeds to flinch from the pain it must have caused.
"Stop moving, idiot. You're going to exacerbate the cut!" I say, quickly grabbing a damp towel and beginning to clean up his abdomen, whilst simultaneously pressing another rag to his wound to stop the bleeding.
“At least you admit that there is a hot view,” he says in his low voice, gazing at me from his position.
I simply roll my eyes.
No falling in love. That was the deal we had made on the day he offered me a place to stay in exchange for my services as a maid and apparently, a nurse. I cook, clean and basically keep the house running while this moron goes out and acts like the idiot he is. In my defense, dorms are expensive as hell, and his penthouse is nearby. Plus, I don't have to pay rent. It's a win-win situation.
But the feelings stirring up inside my heart might just ruin the dynamic we have going on and simultaneously take out a whole lot of cash out of my pocket.
At least, that's what I keep telling myself.
Once his skin isn't completely saturated in blood, and the wound has (thankfully) stopped bleeding, I add some antiseptic onto a make-up pad and begin to dab at his wound, earning winces and slight grunts from the massive man.
"The cut looks deep, Kuroo. You need to go to the hospital," I say, worry lacing my tone as my eyebrows crease and earn yet another huffing laugh.
"Do you want me to rot in prison for the rest of my life?"
I roll my eyes at his response, deliberately dabbing just a little harder which earns me a yelp and an attempted glare in my direction.
"First off, illegal street racing won't send you to prison for your entire life, just for like, half a year. Second, this wound needs stitches, and believe it or not, I'm not a fucking licensed medic. In fact, the only experience I have is with you!" I say, immediately regretting my choice of words as I wait for his remark.
"That's what she said," He says, chuckling at his own innuendo.
I sigh in frustration, pouring more antiseptic to make sure there was no chance of infection from whatever grimy ass knife stabbed him, and beginning to gently scrub the wound with a soft towel, so as to make sure there was no debris left in there.
"You're gonna have ta do it," he mutters, his hazel eyes boring into mine.
"I- I can't Kuroo, you can't possibly think-"
"Fine. I'll do it. Go get me a needle and thread," he states, struggling but nevertheless, sitting upright on the red stained toilet.
I stare at Kuroo in disbelief as he utters these words. Was he dumber than I thought? Does he have some sort of head injury too?
I examine his face and all I come up with is unnerving determination. I exhale out of my nose sharply, "fine, dammit. I'll sew your fucking wound shut."
I am extremely handy with a sewing needle and thread, used to really be into embroidery back when I had the time so...it should be fine.
He just shrugs, leaning his head back against the tiles and closing his eyes.
"Fucking asshole. Can't believe I'm saving your damn life," I mutter, leaving the bathroom to dig through my wardrobe for my sewing box and taking out a gold silk thread that I was saving for a special project.
Well, I guess that will never happen.
"Hey, I found some silk thread. It's literally known for its strength and durability in high temperatures, so it should work like a charm!" I say, walking back into the blood stained bathroom and trying to psych myself up.
He grunts in response. I sigh as I begin with mopping up the excess blood and sanitising the needle and thread before chucking on gloves.
I wipe the antiseptic over the wound once more, and examine it carefully.
Well, if his condition worsens, I can always knock him out and call an ambulance...
I decide, screw it, and thread the needle, pretending it was just another embroidery project.
It's okay, it's okay, it's okay, I chant as I puncture his skin with the thin needle.
Kuroo gasps in pain, and I place a hand on his knee, telling him to suck it up and deal with it, half talking to him but also to myself.
To my surprise, he listens, stretching his head back once more and gritting his teeth.
"Don't do that, here put this in-between your teeth," I say, grabbing yet another towel and shoving it into his mouth.
He obeys as I continue to stitch. I feel my gag reflex kicking in as I think about how stitching skin feels as though I am stitching leather, it feels hard and tough while pushing the thin needle through.
Must hurt like a bitch.
Once I've completed my neat stitches down the wound, without vomiting, I tie it off as I would with any embroidery, and clean the area free of any remaining blood. After rubbing some antibacterial ointment over the gold stitches, I stick on a particularly large bandage over the wound and start tidying up.
"Thank you," Kuroo mutters, still seated on the toilet seat and practically panting for breath.
"Ah, the criminal knows his damn manners!! Now get up and get in the damn shower. You ruined my pristine bathroom!" I complain, putting the last of the materials away before walking to the door.
"Wait, I- I can't get up." I turn around and look at him incredulously as he utters his next few words, "will you... shower me?"
My eyes just about pop out of their sockets at his request. "Are you insane?! I'm not your mother, nor your wife! Call your pudding haired friend and tell him to come shower you!"
He shakes his head, a rare pleading look taking the place of his usual arrogant smirk, "Kenma's too lazy to shower himself, Y/n, please!"
I contemplated it for a moment. Sure, I've seen him naked before, accidentally of course, and so what if I have to scrub him clean. God knows he can't do it himself with that damn injury.
Fuck this shit.
"Fine, get up right now." I bark at him, leaving to change out of my blood soaked pjs into a pair of shorts and a tank.
"...I just said I can't."
---
"Ow, y/n, you're scrubbing too hard!" He complains, his exfoliating glove around my hand as I rub his toned back clean of any dead skin-cells and blood remains.
"But look how much stuff is coming off!" I say gleefully, enjoying this a little too much.
Kuroo, seated on the built-in bench in the open shower with his red boxers on, looks back to see the satisfaction dripping from my features.
"Are you secretly a sadist?" he whispers. In response, I begin to rinse off his raw back with hot water, causing him to screech like a cat.
"It burns, it burns-”
“Shut the fuck up, moron! It's 4 in the morning, you’re going to annoy our neighbours. I tried very hard to get in their good graces, and Mrs. Suzuki still doesn’t like me! She definitely thinks I’m some kind of hooker…” Kuroo laughs at this, and I can’t help but watch as his whole face brightens up from his usual emotionless expression. I find myself smiling in response.
I grab his expensive shampoo and pour some into my hands, beginning to massage it into his scalp. With wet hair, his raven strands are for once flat on his head and reach down to his defined jawline. Kuroo groans under my touch, leaning into my fingers. I snatch my hands back and pour hot water over his head.
"ARGH! Y/N!" He screams, hastily getting up and wetting me in the process.
"Ah- what are you-" I don't get to finish my question as he grabs my arm and yanks me next to him under the hot water, soaking my clothes and my hair.
"You asshole!" I screech as I reach up to pull his hair in defiance, but he only grabs my arm and hooks it around his neck, leaning down to look directly into my eyes.
Our noses brushing against one another, he mutters, "You look pretty with your hair wet and your shirt see through."
It takes me a moment to get past the compliment and to hear the perverted comment that he just uttered.
He sees my look of confusion and laughs, bends over, clutches his stomach and laughs, before bellowing in pain because of his injury.
Smiling smugly down at him as he grimaces, I force him to sit back down and continue massaging the shampoo into his hair, warning him that if he so much as moaned I would leave him in here, dripping wet and in pain.
"That's what he said," is his reply.
I smack his head in response.
Notes, interactions and reblogs are highly appreciated <3

For the second day of @jonmartinweek, mostly for the prompt "injury", though also a little bit "love confession" (by omission).
Set directly after episode 92. Content warnings for mild descriptions of Jon’s canonical injuries (blood, burns).
*
Things are...tense, when they go back down to the Archives. Actually, “tense” is probably an understatement, after finding out that Elias murdered not only Gertrude Robinson, but also the unknown man in Document Storage—who as it turned out was none other than Juergen bloody Leitner.
A lot to take on board, all in all.
Basira seems to have accepted her new employment status with eerie calm, and starts setting up at Sasha’s old desk (oh god, Sasha’s dead, has been for months), fetching notebooks and folders from the stationery cupboard and arranging pens and highlighters in a desk tidy. Daisy is nowhere to be seen—thankfully, Martin thinks, because she was even scarier than usual in Elias’ office. Melanie storms off into the stacks and there are sounds of shouting and things hitting the floor, which Martin is in no hurry to investigate. Tim sits at his desk with his feet propped up for about five minutes, then stands up and says: “Fuck this, I’m off to the pub.” He doesn’t invite anyone else to go with him, and Martin thinks their presence probably wouldn’t be welcome.
Jon arrives in about half an hour later, smelling of fresh cigarette smoke. Normally Martin would disapprove, but the way things are right now he’s tempted to take up a few bad habits himself. Jon looks...exhausted, defeated, his shoulders slumped wearily. His clothes are smudged with dirt, and there’s drying blood crusted around the injury on his neck; the bandages on his hand are starting to slip, revealing the angry, raw burns beneath.
Martin’s not sure he’s ever been so happy to see someone in his life.
Jon gives him a small, tired smile as he passes, then heads into his office and shuts the door. Martin knows that no sane person would try to go straight back to work looking like they’d just been through a war zone and still with an open wound; he is also aware that Jonathan Sims is the sort of person to do precisely that. He hesitates for a few moments, then makes a decision.
He fetches the first aid kit from the break room, and goes and knocks on Jon’s door. It’s a firm knock, a knock that he hopes says “I’m coming in whether you like it or not”, because it’s not beyond Jon to try to avoid them all for an extended period.
“Come in,” Jon calls, and even his voice sounds exhausted. When he sees Martin enter the room, his expression softens in a way that’s difficult to parse. Is he just relieved that it isn’t one of the others? Or is he actually pleased that it’s Martin?
It’s been two months since Jon went into hiding while suspected of murder, and the last time Martin saw him he had been quite sure Jon was planning to—to hurt himself, somehow. Before that, though, there had been a time when they were...well, close, in a way. Jon had let his guard down around Martin, in the midst of being so suspicious and afraid. He had trusted Martin, when he didn’t trust anyone else, had eaten lunch with him and talked about boring, ordinary things, the tight set of his shoulders relaxing just a little. He had even laughed, sometimes. It had been, despite everything, one of the happier times in Martin’s life, and if that’s not pathetic he doesn’t know what is.
“Hi, Jon,” he says.
“Martin,” says Jon, his tone soft. “It’s so—ahh, how are you?”
“How am I? You’re the one with a bloody great gash in your neck and looking like you put your hand in a fire.” Martin brandishes the first aid kit. “You really should go to the hospital, but I know it would be a waste of my time suggesting it.”
“Thank you for bringing that,” Jon says. “I appreciate it. You can just leave it on the desk.”
“Nope,” Martin tells him cheerily, setting the kit down and opening it. “I know you, Jon. If I leave it with you it’ll still be sitting here untouched tomorrow. Plus, I got my first aid certification when I was working in the library. It’s probably expired now, but I think it still counts.”
Jon looks as if he’s about to protest, but then he huffs a breath that might be a laugh, and nods in concession.
“All right then,” he says.
Martin snaps on a pair of disposable gloves and directs Jon to sit on the desk and undo the top two buttons on his shirt, so Martin can examine the wound on his neck. It’s shallow, fortunately, and the bleeding seems to have already stopped. Martin cleans away the crusted blood as gently as he can, though Jon still winces a few times.
“What happened?” Martin asks, as he smears on antibiotic cream.
“Daisy. She, ah, she decided that I was dangerous. Needed to be dealt with. Fortunately Basira was able to convince her otherwise.”
“Bloody hell,” Martin mutters. He’s not sure why he’s surprised; he’s always felt afraid around Daisy, like a rabbit being in the same room with a fox. But he just sort of assumed it was typical Martin fear of, well, everything. He never thought Daisy would actually hurt any of them. He applies a bandage carefully over the wound, and then turns his attention to Jon’s hand. Unwrapping the bandages reveals the red, blistered mess beneath, and Martin hisses in sympathy.
“Please tell me you went to the hospital for this.”
“I went to a walk-in clinic,” Jon says. “They cleaned it up, gave me some antibiotics and painkillers. They, uh, they did recommend I see my GP for follow up monitoring, and that I should get a referral to a physiotherapist, but, well, it’s been a busy few days.”
“Jon,” Martin sighs, exasperated, and Jon smiles a bit shakily.
“I know,” he says. “I will go to a GP, I promise. It’s just a bit tricky when you’re wanted for murder. Anyway, it seems to be healing rather well, all things considered.”
Martin considers whether to apply antibiotic cream, but the skin doesn’t seem to be broken, and he knows it’s best not to touch the area more than needed. Instead, he rewraps it with clean, dry bandages, being sure to keep them loose.
“How did this happen?” he asks, to distract himself from the fact that he is, technically, holding Jon’s hand. Jon gives a self-deprecating laugh.
“I, uh, I was trying to get information from a devotee of the Lightless Flame. This was her price.”
“The Lightless Flame? That cult—from the statements?”
“The same. As it turns out, a—a lot of things from the statements are real. Unpleasantly so.”
“I—yeah, I sort of figured that out when Tim and I got trapped in these weird corridors for days by that Michael...thing.”
Jon’s face blanches, his brows furrowing.
“You—god, Martin, I didn’t know. Are you—I mean, you’re okay, obviously, but— Have you seen Michael since?”
“No, and I hope I don’t.” Martin feels faintly nauseous at the memory. He doesn’t realize his hands are trembling slightly until the fingers of Jon’s hand, the unburned one, touch his wrist.
“I’m so sorry, Martin,” he says. “When I realized a-about Sasha, about that thing, I hoped I could take care of it myself, spare you and Tim. I never wanted to drag you into all this.”
“I don’t think there’s much avoiding it,” Martin mutters miserably. “And you didn’t seem to mind dragging Melanie into it, while you were on the lam.”
“I shouldn’t have asked her for help either. It wasn’t fair to put any of you in the position of aiding a suspected murderer.”
“I never believed you did it,” Martin tells him fiercely. “It just would have been nice to know you were okay, you know?”
“I know, and I’m sorry. I—I wanted to contact you, but it seemed too risky. I knew the police would be watching you, since we’re friends. Or—or at least friendly.”
Everyone I’ve talked to says you and him were close. Martin had been ridiculously pleased by the accusation at the time, and he feels the same now, with Jon’s injured hand cradled in both of his. Jon trusts Martin with his wounds, his vulnerability. Jon wanted to contact him; Jon thinks they’re friends.
“I—” Martin starts to say, and he doesn’t know if his next words will be I missed you or I worry about you or some humiliating romantic confession blurted out and impossible to take back. He draws a deep breath, and instead says: “I’m glad you’re back, and that you’re okay. I don’t have that many friends, I can’t afford to lose one.”
He says it like a joke, and mercifully, Jon takes it as one, and gives a relieved laugh. Martin realizes he’s long since finished bandaging the burn and is now just sort of...holding Jon’s hand; he releases it, reluctantly, and Jon smiles, lifting his other hand to touch the bandage on his throat.
“Thank you, Martin,” he says, hopping down from the desk. “I appreciate it, really.”
“As a token of your appreciation, you can go ahead and make a doctor’s appointment for that hand,” says Martin firmly, closing up the first aid kit.
“I will,” Jon says solemnly, and Martin believes him, but he’s also going to check in and remind him at the end of the day because Jon has a tendency to forget about trivial things like his own wellbeing. It’s just who he is, and Martin’s made his peace with it, like he’s made his peace with being utterly, hopelessly gone for Jonathan Sims.
“I was going to make some tea, if you fancy,” he says as he opens the door. “You look like you could use a cup.”
“Oh, yes, that would be lovely, thank you. Oh, and Martin?”
“Yeah?”
“I’m glad I’m back as well. I—” Jon hesitates a moment, then says: “I missed your tea.”
It’s not much of a declaration, but Martin understands what Jon means by it; for the two of them, it means a lot.

AU! Race car driver Zemo 😎

Collage by @realremyd
I am once again apologising for what you're about to go through.
[Masterlist]
[Previous chapter] - [Next chapter]
Part 10
You wipe down the counter. It was quiet today, not many customers. Everyone was at home waiting for the race to begin. Today was the fourth race of the season. If Zemo won today, he would tie with Stark.
Zemo... you hadn't gone back. You hadn't called him, text him, seen him. You had returned to work, telling your boss things had changed. He welcomed you back, but he looked at you with pity sometimes.
He was currently standing in the doorway behind you, watching you. The race would be starting soon, he had the TV set up in his office, hoping you would come watch it with him. He would happily close up shop for this. For you.
You had worked at The Redwing for several years, a loyal worker to him. You would good with the people, you made wonderful coffee, sometimes bringing s cup to his office, and you knew how to make work fun.
You had this amazing opportunity, then something unexpected came out of the blue and ruined it.
You could do so much better than this little job. He wanted that for you. Plus, he was very much aware, just by the way you had been these past few days, that you were utterly in love with his favourite racer.
He saw the images from the last race. That photo of you and Zemo kissing after his win was all over the place.
Behind him, the commentators are talking about Zemo's win. He flashed up on the screen, a replay of his car gliding over the line. The moment Stark lost to him.
You put away some clean cups, stacking them gently by the machine. You liked having a tidy working area. You knew where everything was, getting what you needed for an order was second nature.
You swung a towel over your shoulder and decided to organise the new tea flavours that came in. Cherry blossom tea had just come in, apparently it was nice. As the shop was empty, you could make one. You grabbed a tea bag from the box and put the box back on the shelf. Your boss watches you go about making your drink.
"Are you going to watch the race with me?"
You pick up your mug and look at him, shaking your head softly. He sighs and comes over to you. He doesn't have to say anything as you begin to cry. He hugs you.
"Why didn't you go?"
"What would I have said?"
"Anything. You don't believe he did it, do you?"
You shake your head.
"Then why are you here with me when you can be there with him? I remember the accident, you know. Saw it on TV back then. There is no way Helmut Zemo would sabotage a race like that."
"What was I suppose to do?" You look up at him and watch as he grabs a napkin to hand to you. You wipe your tears gently.
"You were suppose to go. I'm suppose to be seeing you on screen today, supporting him. You're suppose to be there when he wins today," he speaks softly.
"It's too late."
"You could still go down there. You'll miss the race, but you'll be there."
You shake your head.
"He told me, he said if I still loved him I should be there at the race. If I don't go, he'll leave me alone. I think this is best."
"Now look here, you're a darling and I adore you, but my God, you're a silly liar. You're so in love with him it hurts. You're just torturing yourself by being here."
You wipe at your eyes gently, sipping the tea. It was nice. Zemo would like it.
You sigh and put the cup down.
"You go watch the race. Just... let me knows if he wins."
He looks at you with those pity filled eyes again. When you don't say any more, he leaves, heading back into the office. He keeps the door open a crack.
You stand there. No customers in sight. You feel absolutely awful.
Zemo sits outside by his car. Sam, Bucky, and Sam's sister Sarah, were all there with him. Zemo hadn't said a word to them since he arrived. Bucky had tried to talk to him about what happened, but he didn't get a response.
You weren't here. You didn't come.
He still held onto hope you would make a last minute appearance, that maybe you were right outside, but you weren't. He knew deep down you weren't coming.
You were afraid. He couldn't blame you, but he had hoped that maybe, just maybe, you would believe him. Still, he should have expected this.
Sam and Bucky glance at each other.
"Just leave him be. He'll focus up for the race," Sam said, glancing at Zemo.
Bucky looked across the way.
Stark and his little witch were smooching for the cameras. Behind them, Pepper Potts. Bucky never understood how Pepper could deal with Tony. After everything.
"I'll kill him."
"Bucky, don't."
Sarah pulls Bucky back and tried to get him to calm down. Sam, watches Stark for a lite while longer. He felt sick to the stomach just looking at them.
The racers were called to the line.
You finished up the last if the tea and put the cup to the side. You would take it up to the kitchen shortly. You refilled the water tank and reorganised the spoons for the third time that morning.
The door opened. A young woman enters, a man and two children behind her. You put on your hospitality smile and turn to her.
"Welcome, are you sitting in with us or taking out today?"
The woman smiles, though a lite awkwardly.
"Actually, I am looking for Y/N," she says softly. Her accent, it sounded so much like his.
"That would be me, what I can I do for you?"
She glances at the man she came in with, who nods at her. Licking her lip quickly, she turns back to you and speaks.
"My name is Wanda Maximoff, six years ago my brother died in a horrible accident. I know you have been made aware of this incident. I came here to tell you that I testified about what happened, but no one believed me. They took Stark's word against mine. Helmut Zemo did not kill my brother."
You stare at her.
"You're probably wondering how I know about you and how I come to be here. Stephen Strange is a racer too. Stark had called him a few nights ago. Apparently Zemo had paid him a visit and caused quite a fuss."
"Helmut went to Stark?"
"Yes. Over you. I don't know all the details, only what Strange had told me. I thought it best I come to you and tell you what I know. My brother died in an accident. He was not killed by Zemo."
You hear the low sound of engine revving from the office. The race was about to start.
Wanda watches as you dart into the office quickly. She smiles softly and leaves with her family.
Your boss looks up as you enter. He smiles at you and waves you over. You sit on his desk and watch the TV.
That beautiful purple car appears on screen. You almost want to cry again as you see Zemo sitting there.
You would close your eyes and listen to that sound, even if it is through the television, but you didn't want to look away for a second. That handsome man on the screen, you loved him beyond belief.
Then they were off.
Your breath caught in your throat. You tended up. Your boss placed a hand on your arm, reminding you to breathe. You couldn't. Stark and Zemo were neck on neck. If he won today, he would tie with Stark.
And you would go to him to be there for the final race.
The cars sped around the first corner. You had long since blocked out the commentator. The only sound you could hear was those engines.
Zemo's car glides down the track.
Stark is a hair width away from him. They are so close they could collide any moment, but they don't. Both of them are very skilled and talented drivers. They were born to do this.
They reach the second bend.
You grab your boss's hand, needing something to hold onto. Those two cars are so far ahead from everyone else.
You're filled with anxiety. Everything feels too much.
The third bend.
It all happens so quickly. In the blink of an eye. You're not even sure what had happened.
You weren't even aware you were screaming until your boss had his arms around you. He was so quick to try and tear your gaze away from the screen.
Zemo's car collided into the barrier. It was up in flames. Moments later there was an explosion.
It's just like that day. Six years ago.
You cling to your boss, crying into his shirt. He scrambles with one hand to grab the remote and turn it off.
You had seen enough.
The office fills with your cries. Your agony filled screams are enough to break anyone's heart. What the Hell just happened?
He didn't turn.
He didn't make it around the bend.
And now?
Your boss holds you for a while longer. It's all he can do to help you right now.
At the racetrack, there is chaos. Sam and Bucky were booking it down the sidelines, desperate to reach that corner. Stark zoomed past them going at the speed of light. He would soon cross the finish line and win his third victory, successfully beating Zemo at this point.
Sirens go off in every direction. All ambulances are heading the same way.
An eerie silence falls over the crowd, even after Stark finishes.
Sarah grabs her phone. She has to make a call.
Sam and Bucky manage to reach the wreck. The car is totalled into a burning pit. They can't make heads or tails of what's happening.
And where was Zemo?
This isn't how things were suppose to go.

Wounded |Shikamaru x Reader|
Summary: The reader is wounded while on a mission, This leads to a rift in their relationship
Word count: 2.2k
A/N: I'm new to putting Naruto fanfics on my Account. If you have an suggestions or requests I'm open to all of them. Thank you so much.
fuck! This was your ass when you got home, and you knew it. You pleaded to Lady Tsunade to send you on this mission, short of getting on your hands and knees you said and did anything in hopes of persuading her to say yes. Eventually she caved. Knowing very few things got you this emotional she couldn't bring herself to say no even if she had felt you weren't ready. Plus she knew even if she declined you would devise a scheme to end up there anyway, and she wasn't wrong. You had a plan a, b, and c just incase she was adamant in her refusal.
What you didn't have a plan for was explaining to Shikamaru what you were about to do. Go on a S ranked mission despite just clearing your Chunin examinations. When word finally did get back to him, he was furious! that same morning he marched into the Hokage's office and demanded answers.
"I understand you are angry, but I will not explain myself to the likes of you! You want an explanation you speak to your girlfriend!" She snapped at him.
He knew better than to argue further, to expose himself and allow himself to be vulnerable and open with his concerns even just in front of the Hokage. He also knew she was right, it wasn't really her he was angry at.
When the door swung open and slammed against the wall of yall's shared living space you knew who it was, and what was coming.
"Do you want to get yourself killed?!" Shikamaru belted out down the corridor of the small two bedroom apartment. When you did not respond he barged into the master bedroom forcing your attention.
"Who the fuck do you think you are?" He continued "You must be invincible, death must not be a concern of yours. No your just that fucking strong despite needing three attempts to pass your Chunin exams."
His words stung, even brought tears to your eyes. You tried to remind yourself that they didn't come from a place of malice, but of concern. That did not stop them from hurting, it did not stop them from making you feel small, and weak.
"I need to do this!" You croaked stifling tears that threatened to fall. Your voice trying it's hardest to be strong.
"EVEN IF IT KILLS YOU?!" Shikamaru quickly rebutted.
you took a deep breath before calmly responding, as if to accept the words as they fell out of your mouth.
"Even if it kills me."
The way Shikamaru's eyes fell you could've sworn you'd thrown a kunai straight through his heart. He was gutted, almost to the extent of feeling betrayed.
"Even if that means leaving me here alone."
You could hear the tears trembling in his throat but not a single one fell. He simply turned and walked out the apartment. This was two days before you were supposed to leave, and was the last direct conversation you had with him before you're departure.
While on the journey Kakashi told you two things. One that he had promised Shikamaru that you'd return to the village even if it meant he did not and secondly that Shikamaru had asked him to give you note.
Inside was a detailed apology for suggesting that you were weak or incompetent. Shikamaru said he didn't want you leaving the village believing he had no faith in you or your abilities. Instead he outlined his fears for you. That you weren't ready physically or emotionally to tackle a mission such as this one, that the cost of this mission may have a higher price than you bargained for. Most importantly that you would never come back. He emphasized how much he loved you but was sure to let it be known how angry he was at you. Your complete disregard for his feelings and concern hurt him. He wrote of how unsure it was that he would be there when you returned. He wasn't sure if his methodical mind could forgive such reckless behavior.
That's all you could think of as you laid motionless on the cold forest floor, how correct Shikamaru was. The mission was a success but now you weren't even sure you'd be around to celebrate the victory that seemed to be worth your life just a week ago. In this moment your were heartbroken, distraught, most of all guilty.
The last memory the love of your life would have of you is you telling him that completing some personal vendetta was worth giving up spending the rest of yall's lives together. This was a risk you didn't have to take, a mission you weren't assigned to but you looked Shikamaru in his eyes and told him it was more important than him. And look at you now, fulfilling the very prophecy he feared you would. He would never forgive you for this.
The warm sensation of your blood coating the back of your hands, drew you out of your thoughts. The voices of Sakura and Kakashi were a faint whisper to you, despite the fact they were shouting at each other. You could make out Kakashi telling her to hurry and patch your wounds. He knew it would be a while before the medical core could make it all the way out here, and he wasn't sure you had that much time. He was hoping if Sakura could just stop the bleeding, he could carry you to the village himself. If she could only stabilize you he could do the rest.
"Kashi." You grunted out, twitching your fingers till they meet his hands. His panicked eyes looked over at you and softened some. He was trying hard not to let on how worried he truly was, but the usually stoic ninja, could not handle the thought of breaking his promise.
"Please... tell Shikamaru I'm sorry. Tell him he was right, he'll like that." A pained laugh fumbled from your lips, along with a weak smile.
"Tell him yourself."
You went to protest but felt every bit of chakra drain for your body. Kakashi and Sakura slowly began to fade until everything went black.
-
When you awoke the agonizingly bright lights along with the low hums of all the equipment were a clear indication of where exactly you are, The Leaf Village hospital.
"And she lives." Kakashi announced. A copy of make out tactics in hand, although his masks was up you felt he had a small smile plastered on his face. As you observed his clean, tidy appearance it was clear you had been here longer than it seemed.
"How long have I been here?"
"A week!" Lady Tsunade scolded her arms folded against her chest as she stormed in Sakura trailing behind her. "Just as I said You nearly got yourself killed out there!"
"But I didn't." You rebutted offering a meek smile. Despite Kakashi and Sakura's giggles Lady Tsunade was not amused.
While you scanned the crowded room, you couldn't help but notice Shikamaru was nowhere to be found. You knew he would be angry with you, but so angry he wouldn't even check up on you. Had you really spent a week in the hospital without a single visit from him? was it true you had survive this mission but your relationship had not? The eerie feeling was too strong to ignore, you couldn't even focus on Lady Tsunade chastising you.
"He's come by everyday!" Sakura interrupted pointing over to a bouquet of Jasmines and Roses, Ino no doubt picked for him.
"He.. didn't want to be here when you woke up." Kakashi confessed.
Sakura elbowed him, right in the middle of his ribs causing him to wince in pain. He nurtured his side shuffling his feet slowly away from her. Clearly he wasn't supposed to share that part. But you appreciated Kakashi's honesty, even if it did break your heart.
"I'll be walking you home." he continued throwing the backpack that you carried everywhere with you over your shoulder.
"Remember, you're on bed rest as soon as you make it home. If I even hear that you've be training so help me God!" Lady Tsunade narrowed her eyes to further emphasize her point. Message received loud and clear.
As you and Kakashi strolled through the village neither of you spoke. You were far to focused on what you might find when you returned home, while he just enjoyed the silence. He feared you might request his input with the situation you and Shikamaru had going on. He was sure all he would do is make you feel worse. The copy ninja was a man of few words, and none of them were inherently comforting.
Once yall approached the front door, you noticed the house completely dark, not even the shine of a table lamp. This was peculiar, your home was usually fully lit at this hour. Shikamaru would usually be home to eat lunch or at the very least find some peace away from his comrades to work out a strategy for a new mission he was assigned. No matter what the reason... he was always here and the house was always vibrant. This dark ominous empty home was not one you knew.
You tried to tell Kakashi that you were more than capable of carrying your bookbag in, but he insisted. You think he's just afraid if word gets back to the Fifth Hokage you exerted any type of unnecessary energy the blame would fall on him. But when the two of you walked across the threshold yall immediately stopped.
Shikamaru was home, sitting completely in the dark staring at the ceiling. The sound of the door opening not even making him move an inch.
"I'll, just leave this here." Kakashi mumbled, placing your bag beside you and walking out closing the door behind him.
Shikamaru still didn't move, not a glance your way, not a word spoken. Absolutely still and absolutely silent.  You wanted to jump on him, kiss him all over, tell him just how wrong you were. Tell him that with what you thoughts were your last breaths the only person you wanted to talk to was him. But you didn't, your guilt weighed so heavy on your chest it felt as if you couldn't speak.
You walked over sitting on the couch next to him, your hand meet his cheek and Shikamaru flinched making you quickly draw your hand back. It was as if he had just realized you were even there. Your eyes quickly examined every contour and mark on your boyfriends face. His flushed cheeks, the slightly puffy eyes that gleamed with a sutble red tinge. Could it be that your stoic aloof boyfriend had been sitting here crying all day? The sight shattered your heart into a million pieces. How could you do this to him? How could you be so selfish?
You reached out for his hand grasping it firmly almost as if you didn't grab him now he would be gone forever. In spite of not even being able to look at you Shikamaru held your hand just as tight.
"Shikam-"
"Do you know how mad I am at you?" he interrupted. "Lady Tsunade had to put you in a medically induced coma for a week... A FUCKING WEEK Y/N!"
"I'm sorry you were right. you were right, baby you were right." You cried tears streaming your face.  "I'm sorry."
You didn't wanna argue, you had no fight left in you. For God's sake you just wanted the man you loved to look you in your eyes. Tell you how much he missed you, that he was worried about you, and he's still in love with you. That he'll always be in love with you. But he was as cold as ever, he refused to cast his gaze upon you. instead his eyes continue to linger at the ceiling.
Shikamaru wanted to stay angry, as glad as he was to have you alive here with him he still wanted to punish you. He wanted you to hurt just like he did when he had to watch Kakashi carry you unconscious through the front gates, or when Lady Tsunade told him your injuries were to extensive to wake you up after surgery. or maybe when you looked him in his eyes and proclaimed how little your life was worth in comparison to a mission you weren't even officially assigned. Shikamaru wanted you to feel a fraction of what he has the past two weeks.
"Shikamaru... baby. Please, look at me." You begged him reaching for his face again. This time you forced his eyes to meet yours.
As angry as he was, when Shikamaru looked into your tear filled eyes he melted. After a week of watching you lay basically lifeless in a hospital bed, seeing that glimmer of life in your eyes nothing seemed to matter anymore.
"Baby, I'm so sorr-"
Shikamaru didn't let you finish your sentence, he crashed his lips into yours for a sloppy passionate kiss. He pulled you onto his lap never breaking away from you. His hands held your waist tight, you were sure he would leave marks, but the thought of letting you go was almost traumatizing for him. In his arms, he knew you were safe that you wouldn't run off again.
"I was so worried about you." He mumbled against yours lips, light gasp for air in-between his words. "I love you so much y/n... you can't die on me."
