I've never had to be the person who Has Conversations With Parents when shit happens w kids but I had to TWICE today and both times they were very receptive and understanding but it's sooo hard to work out what you're going to say and how you're going to say it so that you don't upset the parents or have your concerns come off wrong while also making sure they fully understand the situation While there's a million children and like 12 other parents are lining up to sign their kids out 😭

some CHB headcanons
every cabin has LEDs around the inside, but there’s a constant battle over what color they are
Percy has his rippling back and forth from teal to blue and it looks like light dancing through water all over his walls and floor
the Apollo cabin can usually settle for orange and yellow as a common ground
the Aphrodite kids have a different color for each time of day and sleep with pink on the lowest brightness setting
the Hermes cabin has like ten different strips and they’re all constantly shifting
Demeter cabin’s shifts with the seasons
ANYWAYS MOVING AWAY FROM THE LEDS
they have movie nights, which I will talk about in a different post
before everybody goes back to school, the Aphrodite and Hecate cabins have a massive salon at the end of the summer with new haircuts and magic hair dye and outfit recommendations and fake but enchanted sturdy nails and a whole bunch of other stuff and basically it’s a week straight of spilling hot tea between everyone in camp
if someone asks where a camper got their hair done when they get back to school they just go “oh, um… summer camp.” and their friends will snort and be like bro isn’t summer camp the opposite of a makeover?? but they get no argument, just a shrug and a half smile
when I tell you pride month over there is a fucking riot
because Mr. D is in on it, right?? because he’s the god of gender?? and Chiron is aroace and has been raising dumbass gay heroes for literal centuries?? PLUS the sheer fucking amount of queer peeps up in there?? dude yeah
cabins competing for who shows the most pride
Demeter’s roof is covered in rainbow flowers
Hecate’s is enchanted to emit actual light in whatever flag colors of whoever uses the front door, even when they’re straight (it’s just a rainbow)
Percy collects a bunch of shed scales from the hippocampi at the bottom of the lake and then puts them all over his cabin
I could make a whole post about CHB pride but
every single Apollo kid is also a theater kid fight me
Rachel Elizabeth Dare painted a skateboard for Percy’s birthday and he brings it everywhere now, it even sits in his backpack at school
Leo, Annabeth, Percy, and Piper fucking love horror movies. Frank, Hazel, and Jason fucking hate them. They watch through their fingers, if at all
Piper loves the band Surfaces with all her heart, but she also is a die hard Green Day and P!ATD fan
Jake Mason is covered in burn scars up to his neck, just like Deadpool, just not bald lol
Hephaestus and Apollo kids faintly radiate warmth (like more so than a normal person)
the Stolls sometimes stay at camp year-round because their mom is off on international missions that are too high-risk for them to help with
the seven are AVID Smash Bros players
really everyone but
not as many people go to the Athena campers for help with homework as you might think, but whenever anyone does, they’re happy to help
the sun chariot blasts music at a frequency only the Apollo kids can hear, so their life kind of has a shitty soundtrack that consists of a mix of Broadway, Queen, modern stuff, and random bits of Beethoven every now and then
the Romans swear on few occasions
the Greeks know when to swear and when to be polite
the Valhalla peeps swear unbridled and all the time
the Egyptians never swear (in English)
for the longest time, Will Solace thinks the only gift from his dad is his healing prowess— which is obviously great, but he expresses being upset over the fact that he’s not very good at archery
well, considering this is the dumbass who didn’t bring a weapon to actual fucking Tartarus, Nico drags him to the weapon shack thing immediately afterwards and made him pick something out
he's immediately drawn to the Celestial Bronze shotgun.
Nico’s just like “what in the redneck shit did you just pick up” and Will jokingly aims it at his chest and grins and says “you know I’m from Texas, right?”
that’s how they find out Will is one of the damn best marksmen in Greek demigod history
some of the Disney nerds in the Apollo cabin sing What Once Was Mine to the little ones who need bandaids for knee scrapes and give them lollipops afterwards
Percy Jackson absolutely used to make poverty and struggle meal jokes all the time, but he got weird and concerned looks for it at CHB, so he kind of just stopped. But one day, aboard the Argo II, the PERFECT opportunity came up and he just HAD TO and as per usual— everyone else looked at him like he’s crazy— but Leo laughed so hard chocolate milk came out of his nose and that’s the story of how the two of them became Best Friends

summary: you go camping with the pogues and share a tent with JJ
warnings: language, kinda creepy forest idk, kissing, fluff and bantering
wc: 2.3k (longest fic i've ever written hell ye)
gif is not mine, creds to the owner!!
Tumblr media
“Are you sure you’re okay sharing a tent with JJ?” Kie asked as she handed her bags to Pope who placed them neatly in the back of the van.
You all had collectively made plans to go camping for the weekend although you didn’t really enjoy it. But you had decided to cast your dislike for camping aside and at least try to have fun instead. You and JJ were the only people in the group that we're not dating anyone. John B and Sarah were sharing one and so were Kie and Pope. So you were left with the blonde tan surfer who was too cocky for his own good.
“Why wouldn’t she be? I’m amazing. I’ll even sing you a lullaby, Y/N.” JJ shouted from the front seat. He had called shotgun before Sarah could so now the girl couldn’t sit next to her boyfriend and she was definitely pissed.
“On second thought, no. I think I’ll pass. I’m sure I can find a nice tree to sleep under,” you joked as you handed your stuff to Pope as well and then climbed into John B’s van, sitting next to Sarah who was shooting angry glances at JJ.
“No to sharing a tent with me or the lullaby? You gotta choose.”
“Please, for the love of God, shut up.”
“Someone’s mad,” he mumbled but not so quietly.
“Yeah, dipshit, she’s not the only one,” Sarah chimed in.
Soon everything was packed and ready to go. John B turned on the car and drove in the direction of the campsite you had chosen. It was away from the town, quite private and perfect for a few teens to have fun and let loose.
Once you arrived, John B and JJ started gathering wood to make a fire and the rest of you started setting up the tents and everything you needed for sleeping.
“Okay but seriously if JJ starts to get too annoying you can always come and join us in our tent.”
“He’s always too annoying.”
“I heard that!” JJ yelled from somewhere in the woods making you roll your eyes but chuckle.
You actually didn’t mind sharing a tent with him. And the reason was quite simple really. You liked him, had a crush on him or whatever you want to call it.
You finally acknowledged your feelings for him a couple of years ago when he came back from surfing camp and you realised just how much you had missed him. Plus he had gotten a lot taller over the summer which made you swoon even harder.
But you had known him since literally forever. You couldn't remember a time when he wasn’t in your life. He had always been there. Always supporting you, always cheering you on. If you looked up the definition of “Y/N’s best friend” on the internet pictures of JJ would show up. You were thick as thieves. Partners in crime. The bickering and annoying was your love language, your way of telling each other you cared.
“But don’t worry, I’ll manage. I’ll make sure he smokes a lot so he'll fall asleep as soon as he lays down.”
Your friends laughed and continued the task at hand.
“I think a deadly bug just bit me!” JJ yelled as he ran over to you, dropping all of the gathered wood in the process. John B sighed in the distance as he started picking up after him.
“Show me.” You held out your hand and he placed his in yours, vaguely pointing at the bite. He had his head turned away, not looking at the bite himself.
“How bad is it? How long do I have left? I love you guys.”
“JJ, that’s a mosquito bite.”
He whipped his head around, finally looking at the bite and then you. Everyone laughed at him.
“So I’m not gonna die?”
You shrugged. “I honestly don’t know. Only time will tell.”
He gave you a look. “You think you’re so funny, huh?”
You giggled. “I do.”
He rolled his eyes and walked over to where John B had started setting up the fireplace while JJ was being dramatic over a mosquito bite. How had this boy made it so far in life was a thing you wondered a lot about.
Finally the tents were set up and everything was ready for the night. Everyone sat around the cozy fire, drinks in hand.
The sky was getting darker by the minute and due to the sun setting the temperature was dropping as well. You didn’t even notice how cold it had gotten until Sarah offered to bring everyone blankets from the van.
“It’s okay, I think we’re gonna go to sleep anyways,” Kie said, Pope nodding in agreement.
Sarah then looked at her boyfriend, you and JJ, eyebrows raised in question.
“I’m good, I’ve got Y/N keeping me warm.” JJ leaned closer to you, resting his head on your shoulder. You ignored the way your heart jumped and pushed him away gently.
“He’s just too embarrassed to say that he wants a blanket. I’ll take one though.”
“If by embarrassed you mean that I’m so hot I don’t even need a blanket then you’re absolutely right.”
“Bring him one,” you said to Sarah who then went to retrieve the said blankets for the 4 of you.
“I don’t want one though.”
“You need one.”
“No, I don’t.”
“Yes, you do.”
“Can you guys stop whatever this is and shut up for just a minute?” John B interrupted. “I’m so tired of you two.”
“He’s cranky,” JJ said under his breath for only the two of you to hear. It made you giggle and due to that John B gave you a warning glare.
“Okay, here are your blankets.” Sarah handed you yours but threw JJ’s into his face.
“Hey! What was that for?”
“For annoying the shit out of us.” She sat next to John be and he helped her wrap a blanket around the both of them.
JJ gasped dramatically, clutching his chest. “How dare you!? Y/N tell me she’s lying.”
“I have to agree with her on this one. You are kind of annoying.”
“I can’t believe this. My own friends hurting me like this.”
You shoved a stick and a marshmallow into his hands. “Stop being dramatic and roast this marshmallow for me, please.”
“And now I’m your slave. You’re unbelievable,” he said but still put the marshmallow on the stick and started roasting it for you.
“Your hands are longer than mine. Plus why should I do it when you can do it for me.”
Sarah agreed. “She makes a fair point.”
JJ handed you your marshmallow which was roasted just how you liked it. But before you could take a bite he leaned over and bit half of the marshmallow off the stick.
You looked at him in disbelief. “Hey!”
He smiled at you sheepishly, mouth full of the candy and lips covered with it. “That’s what you get for bullying me.”
“I hate you so much right now.”
He munched on the candy but you could still see the smirk on his face. “You love me.”
“You ate half of my marshmallow, I’ve never hated you more.”
In the corner of your eye you saw Sarah whisper something in John B’s ear and then they stood up, blanket still tightly wrapped around them.
“We’re going to our tent as well. Good night!”
“Good night!”
“I can’t believe these idiots are all going to sleep so early. Relationships turn you into old people, I guess.”
“It’s almost midnight, JJ.”
“So? That should be like 6 pm for us.”
You fell into comfortable silence as you roasted some more marshmallows on the dying fire which would soon turn into a smoking pile of ashes.
Suddenly you heard a noise in the woods. It was like a stick had snapped in half. It startled you to say the least. Your head snapped in the direction of where you thought you heard the sound coming from.
“Did you hear that?”
“Hear what?”
“That sound.”
“What sound?”
You slapped your hand over his mouth as another snap came from somewhere. “This is exactly why I didn’t want to come in the first place,” you whispered.
He licked the inside of your hand which made you pull it away from his mouth in disgust. “Ew, JJ.”
“What are you talking about?”
“I mean like spending the night in the woods. It’s scary as hell. Someone’s out there right now, just looking at us, taunting us. It could be a murderer or some creep, you know.”
“Or a squirrel.”
“Or a bear.”
“Or a rat.”
“I don’t honestly know which would be worse right now.”
“Rat, obviously. Those little shits ruin everything. But seriously, it’s probably nothing. Just the forest doing its own thing.” JJ said and placed his warm hand on your blanket-covered thigh. It was supposed to be a comforting gesture but you couldn’t help but wonder if it could mean something more.
“I don’t wanna be out here and find out what that thing is though.”
As hard as it was, you stood up, his hand falling from your thigh back to his own lap, and pulled the blanket around yourself as tight as possible. You got chills from the slight fear you had but also the cold that was crawling under your skin making you shiver.
JJ threw some water into the fire pit to make sure the fire had completely died out. He then stood up too and followed you to your shared tent where you were already waiting for him.
“Hurry up. I don’t wanna be out here any longer.”
“There’s nothing to be afraid of, trust me. The scariest thing here is that ugly t-shirt you’re wearing.”
He zipped open the tent and let you enter it first but followed you close behind, careful not to let any bugs in.
“What’s wrong with my shirt?” you furrowed your brows in confusion.
“It’s ugly.”
“Fine, if it’s bothering you too much, I’ll take it off.” You grabbed the end of your shirt and pulled it over your head, revealing the bikini top you were wearing underneath.
You couldn’t see much in the dark tent but just enough to see JJ’s eyes linger on your figure a second too long.
He cleared his throat before he asked if you wouldn’t be too cold now.
“I have all these blankets,” you pointed at the pile next to you, “I think I’ll be fine.”
You were in fact not fine as the time passed. It had gotten so cold that you couldn’t feel your fingers or your toes anymore. And you were pretty sure that your lips had turned blue.
“I can hear your teeth clattering all the way to here.”
“Why aren’t you asleep already?”
“How am I supposed to fall asleep in a tent with a fucking woodchuck?”
“I’m gonna pretend you didn’t just call me a woodchuck and try to get some sleep.”
You turned your back to him and curled yourself into a little ball to keep warm as much as possible.
A few minutes later you felt the pile of blankets on top of you lift and then JJ joining you under them.
“What are you doing?”
“Keeping you warm. I do not want to be taking care of you when you get sick.” You turned around under the blankets to face him. He pulled you closer to him. Your feet automatically intertwining with his.
“Jesus, woman! Your toes are cold as ice.”
You giggled at his reaction. “You should feel my hands.”
And so he did. “How the fuck are you this cold?”
“I don’t know.”
You snuggled closer even closer to him, inhaling his scent. “You smell good.” You didn’t even mean to say it but it just slipped out before you could stop yourself.
“And you were worried about there being creeps in the woods while the biggest creep of them all is right here beside me.”
“It’s not creepy, JJ.”
“Says the creep herself.”
You smacked his bare chest lightly as you chuckled.
“Please, keep those ice cubes away from me, Elsa,” he said, which made you place both of your hands flat onto his chest. He hissed at the contact of your cold hands.
“Why do you enjoy torturing me?”
“It’s fun.”
“I think you just enjoy torturing people in general.”
“Nope, just you.” Your voice got just a tiny bit quieter but he could tell. He could always see the slightest  changes in your behaviour and appearance.
And he was slowly piecing everything together.
“Okay then, we’ll see if you enjoy this.” He hoped to God he was right about this.
You were about to ask him what he meant but you were cut off by his lips crashing into yours. You were caught off-guard for a second because, well, he kissed you. JJ Maybank kissed you. You had been waiting for this for so long that your brain just short-circuited. But luckily you composed yourself quickly and kissed him back.
Your hands flew into his hair and you pulled him flush against you, chest to chest. There was no room left between you two.
You had imagined about this many times before but none of the fantasies were as good as the real deal. He was kissing you with so much passion and emotion that there was no way that he thought of you as just his best friend. You were sure of it.
When you finally broke the kiss so you could breathe again, he rested his forehead against yours. A small gesture but it made your heart skip a beat.
“I very much enjoyed that.”
“Good. Did you enjoy that?”
“I did.”
“Good.”

As You Wish, Chapter 2
Tumblr media
Summary: When arriving at Camp Silver Star, Abby Floyd was anticipating a summer of adventure with an ocean separating her from the three people she loved most: her mom, her Uncle Bob and her Aunt Natasha. But after a run in with Charlie Seresin, an extremely familiar looking and irritating camper in a different cabin, her summer plans take a turn that neither girl ever could have expected.
Trigger Warnings: reader's children are described as being blond with green eyes because genetics are wild and Jake's genes are strong, reader is canonically Bob's sister, reader goes by Buttercup and is tattooed, verbal arguing, swearing, medical misinformation (I did my best y'all), pregnancy
Tumblr media
Sharp Memorial Hospital, 12 Years Ago
“Buttercup!”
She gasped as the curtain to her room was drawn back quickly, revealing a stressed-out looking lieutenant and a sheepish looking older brother.
“Jake! I’m okay, I swear…”
“You passed out!” Jake exclaimed, rounding the hospital bed to stand by her side. “And they called Bob?”
She sighed, her fingers tapping anxiously at the tape securing the IV to her arm. “I’ve been here for, like, four months, babe. And it all happened kinda quickly, so I haven’t exactly had a chance to change my emergency contact yet.”
Jake reached out to grip her hand and leaned down to kiss her forehead. “Do me a favour and at least add me to that list? I almost had a fucking heart attack when I landed, and Bob told me that you were in the damn hospital.”
Bob pushed his glasses up his nose as she turned her attention to him. “You’re welcome, by the way,” he muttered. “Are you okay, Buttercup?”
She grinned at the begrudging use of the nickname. Ever since Jake had bestowed it upon her that night, it was like her real name ceased to exist. Everyone called her Buttercup, despite Bob’s best efforts.
“I’m fine, you two worrywarts,” she rolled her eyes fondly as Bob scoffed and Jake squeezed her hand more firmly. “I got a little lightheaded at the bar and turned a little too quickly on my barstool. I was only out for like a second, but Penny wouldn’t let it go. Something about Mav being overprotective of his squad or something. She’s somewhere out there—” she motioned vaguely out the curtained doorway. “—filling out paperwork.”
“What were you doing at the bar?” Jake seated himself on the edge of her bed, green eyes turning stern. “You promised me that you were going to take it easy today, remember? I didn’t drag your ass to the doctor yesterday because you said you were “almost over this stupid flu”, and I only agreed because you promised you’d do jack shit today.”
Buttercup pouted at him, crossing her arms as best she could with one arm hosting the IV and Jake not releasing her hand. “I got bored,” she mumbled. “Plus, I thought the quick walk in the sun and fresh air would do me good!”
Jake groaned. “You’ll be the death of me, I swear to god. Next time, at least call someone to go with you.”
“Sure, Jake. I’m sure the Navy will understand you needing to take your girlfriend on a walk,” she rolled her eyes. “I’m a big girl. I can handle myself.”
“Clearly,” Jake shot back, gesturing around the curtained-off room.
“Alright, easy, you two,” Bob sighed, stepping further into the room. “Seresin, you can’t expect her to wait around for us to do stuff. What do you expect her to do when we get deployed?” Jake’s face fell for a split second before smoothing out into that unflappable mask he had mastered long ago. “And kiddo? Bagman might not show it ever, but he is a human being, which means he can be scared, and I’m pretty sure the news that you landed yourself here scared a decade off him. So, go easy on him, will you?”
She looked at her brother for a moment before sighing, nodding slightly, and turning back to Jake. “I’m sorry,” she whispered, squeezing his hand. “I’ll be more careful.”
He squeezed it back, lifting their linked hands to press a kiss to the back of her hand. “I’m sorry too. I’m not tryin’ to be controlling, I just…I don’t wanna see you hurt.”
Bob huffed and took a step back. “I’m going to go find Penny and see if she needs help with that paperwork.”
“Thanks Bobby,” she smiled softly at him. He winked playfully at her before turning his back and strolling out of the room, tugging the curtain closed behind him.
“What has the doctor said?” Jake brushed his hand over her cheek, tugging her attention back to him. “Any more dizzy spells? Do you need anything?”
“Easy, tiger, one question at a time. The doctor said I was pretty dehydrated from all the vomiting I’ve done over the past couple of days, and that was what probably caused the blackout. But he had a nurse draw some blood and they’re testing to see if it could be anything else.” She rubbed his arm reassuringly. “I’m a little dizzy still, but the fluids are helping. And I’m still pretty nauseated but they don’t want to give me anything until they get the test results back.” Jake nodded, his jaw ticking just once as his eyes raked over her face. “I’m okay, Jake. I promise.”
Buttercup kept up the soft pressure of her hand running up and down his arm until the mask he wore slipped and he sighed deeply. “I’m sorry I was a dick. I just want you to feel better.”
“I know, baby. I’m sorry I got snippy.”
“No, you shouldn’t have to apologize. You’re the one in the hospital bed.” His thumb gently rubbed back and forth along the back of her hand. “God, I hate fighting with you though.”
A slow grin tugged at the edges of her lips. “Me too. Especially when I’m stuck in this bed and we can’t make up properly.”
A low groan rumbled in his chest as he leaned in closer. “Don’t tempt me.”
Peals of laughter tumbled from her lips as she angled her head to brush her nose against his. “I don’t suppose a kiss would tide you over, Lieutenant Insatiable?”
“Hmm, I don’t know, darlin’. We’d have to try it out.”
Jake’s lips chased hers as he leaned over her, pushing her back against the flimsy mattress with the force of his kiss. Her tongue traced the seam of his mouth, and she felt a bolt of electricity spark through her body when his mouth stretched into a smile against hers. He linked their fingers together as she deepened the kiss, his free hand coming around to cradle the back of her neck.
“Alright, Miss Floyd, why don’t we go over those test results?”
Jake pulled away as a doctor clad in purple scrubs hustled into the room, her hands rubbing together as the scent of sanitizer wafted over them.
“Hey, doctor. Sorry, we didn’t meet earlier. Lieutenant Jake Seresin,” Jake greeted, his mask sliding back into place as he stretched one arm out to shake her hand.
“It’s nice to meet you, Lieutenant. And it’s nice to meet you as well, Miss Floyd. I’m Dr. Friedman and I’ll be taking over your case,” the woman greeted, shaking his hand before turning to fiddle with some equipment. “I hope you don’t mind; we just have a few more tests to run.”
“N-no, that’s fine…” Buttercup shrugged uneasily. “Did something happen to Dr. Scott? I thought he was the one handling my case today?”
“Dr. Scott is just fine. He got called into an all hands on deck situation and, since I was already working with a regular patient of mine down here in the ED, he passed your case off to me since it falls under my specialty. Do you mind lifting your gown for me, dear?”
As the doctor turned, Jake’s keen green eyes darted between three different things. One, the ultrasound wand in the doctor’s hand. Two, the medieval looking metal device she had placed next to his girlfriend on her bed. And three, the neat white stitching on the breast of her scrubs that read Dr. Laurie Friedman, Doctor of Obstetrics and Gynecology.
“Dr. Friedman?” Jake felt his heart sputter, then race in his chest as he squeezed Buttercup’s hand. “You’re a…I mean, your specialty…” He looked down at Buttercup, but she was staring at the white stitching as well.
“Yes, Lieutenant. As I’m sure Dr. Scott told you, Miss Floyd’s blood and urine tests came back positive for hcG, so he called for an OB consult. Since I was already here, I figured I would pop in and run the tests for him while he’s dealing with the overflow of patients we just received. This will be a little cold, dear,” the doctor soothed, draping a paper towel over Buttercup’s underwear before squeezing the gel onto her stomach. “Now, if the blood and urine tests aren’t lying to us, we should…” She moved the wand around, either obtuse to or completely ignoring the look on her patient’s (and the lieutenant’s) face. “There!”
She turned the screen to face the young couple. “Your blood test confirmed the pregnancy, but the high levels of hcG in your blood gave Dr. Scott pause. There’s baby number one…” she pointed to a tiny speck on the screen. “And there…is baby number two.”
Tumblr media
The first week of living in the isolation cabin (affectionately known as ‘The Brig’) was absolute misery. The sun was shining, the birds were chirping, the water in the lake was cool and clear, and Abby and Charlie could appreciate none of it, stuck as they were doing clean up chores in the kitchen. Amelia had been assigned to supervision duty, which was mostly making sure the girls did less arguing and more cleaning.
The nights were even worse, with the girls either ignoring each other or screaming the cabin down with insults and taunts. Amelia had also spent that first week sleeping on the small stoop of the cabin in a hammock, or, at least, trying to sleep between arguments.
The only reprieve the girls got was when they headed down to the dining hall and got to sit with their friends. Breakfast, lunch and dinner found Charlie loudly complaining to her friend, Ryann, about how unfair the whole situation was, while Abby sat with Max, and Isabelle clear across the dining hall, her friends doing their best to remind her to stay strong, that she was only barred from group activities for another week, that they would try to sneak her back into their cabin in a few weeks when Penny and Amelia had cooled off a bit. Amelia spent mealtimes hiding in her mother’s office, downing headache medication, and trying to talk her mother out of whatever plan she had concocted.
The second week found the girls at an uneasy truce. Chores duty was quiet, but all the work got done. Evenings were dead silent, the girls opting to ignore each other instead of arguing.
Both girls were excited to go back to group activities on Monday, only to open the cabin door that morning to find dark clouds covering the sun, booming thunder in the distance, and rain falling in ice cold sheets.
“I suppose group activities will be cancelled today,” Abby muttered as she turned to grab her raincoat.
“You think Penny and Amelia will let us join our cabins for rainy day activities?” Charlie grumbled as she surveyed the mucky landscape. “Hell, I’d be okay doing outdoor activities in this! I thought this was supposed to show us what our family members go through in the military? I’m pretty sure they wouldn’t cancel a war because of a little rain.”
Abby giggled in spite of herself. “If they did that, there would never have been any wars in England. It’s always raining there.”
“Eww. That must suck.”
“It really does.”
The two girls locked eyes for a moment before quickly looking away.
“She’s still stuck up! You don’t want to be friends with her!” Charlie thought to herself, pulling on her own raincoat.
“She’s rude and uncouth. Anyone worth being friends with would never say such horrible things. Or try to get into a physical fight with you!” Abby breathed as she held the door open for a drenched Amelia.
“Sorry girls, but you’re not going down to the dining hall today. It’s all flooded, so all campers will be eating in their cabins,” Amelia explained quickly, handing them bottles of juice and a tray of fruit and sandwiches. “I’ve gotta get back to keep an eye on everyone. Please, please promise me you’ll get along today? I’ll be back later with lunch and dinner, and I really don’t want to have to clean up any bloodshed.”
“We promise…”
“Thank you!”
The door swung shut behind her as Amelia took off up the path back to the main camp.
“I’m, uh…I’m gonna have my breakfast over here while I read,” Charlie murmured, awkwardly making eye contact before shuffling away to her bed on one side of the room.
Abby nodded, taking her own breakfast over to her bed and staring out the window before pulling out her scrap book.
Amelia popped back in a few hours later, carrying more sandwiches for lunch, surprise colouring her features at the lack of arguing and tension between the campers.
“You two are handling this better than some of the other kids,” she commented, placing the tray down. “I’ll be back around six with dinner, okay?”
Without stopping to hear their response, she turned and dashed back out the door, just as a gust of wind blew the door wide open, sending everything that wasn’t pinned down in the room flying.
“Crap!” Charlie slammed her book shut quickly as the pages started to rustle. Abby squealed as the pictures in the collage she was working on were strewn about wildly, dancing in the wind.
“Help me with the door!” Charlie cried, bolting over to the creaking wooden door and trying to heave it shut. Her fingernails scrabbled against the wood as she tried to get a good grip on the handle as the door strained against her grip, pulling her this way and that.
“Hold on, I’ve got you!” Abby seized the door handle and they leaned all their weight against the door, sighing in relief as they finally heard the faint click as it shut.
“Th-thanks…” Charlie panted, her arms trembling slightly.
“No…no problem,” Abby sagged against the wall. “You looked like you almost had it though. You’re pretty strong.”
Charlie shrugged. “I work on my dad’s ranch. Obviously, I can’t do a lot of the dangerous jobs, but even the easy stuff takes a lot of strength.”
“That’s pretty cool,” Abby offered, sinking to the floor against the wall. “Does your mum help on the ranch too?”
Charlie looked away as she sank to the floor across from her, feeling the anger rise and then fall inside of her, her body too tired to let it take hold. “No…she doesn’t. I…I don’t know who my mom is. It’s just me, my dad, and my uncles,” she admitted quietly.
“Oh…I…I’m sorry,” Abby felt the blood rush to her cheeks. “I didn’t know. But…it’s okay! My mum always says that every family looks different, and it doesn’t affect how much they love each other.”
“Easy for her to say,” Charlie muttered, looping her arms around her legs, and resting her head against her knees.
Abby bit back an angry retort. She was so tired of fighting, mentally exhausted from the constant sparring with her new roommate. Maybe her mum had been right and fighting back wasn’t the way to go.
“She started saying that to me when I was five years old or so. At least, that’s when I think I started asking about my dad. I…I don’t know who he is either.”
Charlie lifted her head, looking at the girl in front of her. “You don’t?”
Abby shook her head. “For as long as I can remember, it’s been me, my mom, my aunt, and my uncle. But not, like, married aunt and uncle. He’s my mom’s brother, and my aunt is his best friend.”
“Oh…” Charlie looked down, biting her lip. “I guess that means my comment about mommy and daddy buying you riding lessons really sucked, huh?”
“It did. But I shouldn’t have called you a cornfed hick, either.” Abby flushed. “I don’t know why I said that. My mom and uncle are from Kansas, so it’s not like they’re from anywhere fancy.”
“Kansas? Then why do you sound so…Downton Abbey?”
Abby giggled. “My mum moved to London when I was just a baby. She says it was just for a job, but I think she wanted to get away from my dad too. Every time I ask about him, she gets really anxious and sad, my Uncle Bob gets really angry, and my Aunt Natasha has to distract everyone. Eventually, I just stopped asking. But she did promise to talk about him when I get home, so I’m keeping my fingers crossed for answers.”
“My dad does the same thing!” Charlie gasped, moving closer. “I ask about my mom and he gets this really sad look in his eyes, then goes into his office for a few hours! Uncle Roo will eventually go drag him out but then we just pretend I never asked. Uncle Javy acts like he wants to say something, but he doesn’t want to hurt my dad, so he just tells me that all my questions will be answered when I get older.”
“I hate that!” Abby shot onto her knees. “I’m almost 12! How much older do they expect me to get?”
“Right?” Charlie copied her kneeling stance. “I swear, if I don’t get answers on October 11th, I’m going to scream!”
Abby fell back on her heels, almost as though the door had been wrenched open again and she’d been blown back by a gust of wind. “Y-your birthday is October 11th?”
“Yeah. Why?”
“So is mine!”
Charlie blinked at her. Then she blinked again. Then, a third time. “I…am going to go back to reading my book.”
Abby’s shoulders rose with the force of her sigh. “Charlie, why do you keep avoiding this? We look completely alike, we have the same birthday, you have a dad, and I have a mom! Do you know what that all adds up to?”
“One hell of a coincidence,” Charlie replied huffily, picking up her book and leafing through the pages to find where she left off.
“Charlie, come on! You can’t actually believe that!”
Abby waited for a response, but all she got was Charlie raising her book to eye level in order to block her from view.
“Charlie? Please, you know there’s more to it than that!”
Charlie rolled over to face the other direction and Abby felt the anger bolt through her at ten thousand volts.
“Stop. Ignoring. Me!” she stomped around to the other side of Charlie’s bed and wrenched the book away from her.
“Hey! Give me that!” Charlie jumped out of bed as Abby ran over to her side of the cabin.
“No! Not until we figure this out!”
“Figure what out?” Charlie groaned. “We don’t look that much alike, single parent households aren’t that rare, and there are like a billion people on this planet, so obviously some are going to share a birthday!”
“Oh, come on! It’s way more than that!”
Charlie stomped over towards her and shook her head, her blond braid whipping around her face. “No. It’s not. Now give me back my book or I’ll—”
“Or you’ll what?” Abby hopped onto her bed and held the book high in the air.
“I’ll…” Charlie lunged and grabbed Abby’s scrapbook from where it had fallen on the floor. “I’ll hold this hostage until you give it back!”
“No!” Abby gasped. “Please, no! That’s important to me!”
Charlie shrugged. “And my book is important to me. I need something to read, so I guess I’ll just have to make do with this.”
Charlie retreated back onto her side of the cabin and flipped the book open to the first page.
“Fine! Here, take it!” Abby yelled, jumping off the bed and racing over to hand her the book. “Just please, give it back!”
Charlie’s hand shook as she pushed her novel off the scrapbook and onto the bed, her fingers tracing the outline of the figures that were smiling from the picture that decorated the first page.
“Charlie?” Abby asked, half desperate to get her scrapbook back and half confused. “What’s wrong?”
“Why do you have a picture of my uncles in your scrapbook?” she whispered.
“What? That’s a picture of my mum, Auntie Nat, and Uncle Bob,” Abby explained, pointing to each person in turn.
“Not them…” Charlie spoke softly, as though even one decibel too loud would shatter her. “Them.” Charlie pointed at two of the figures on the fringe of the photo. One, a moustachioed man in a pair of aviators, and the other a tall black man with a bright smile and an “I Love Las Vegas” baseball cap covering his cropped black hair. “That’s my Uncle Rooster and my Uncle Javy.”
“What?”
Charlie handed the book back before scrambling to her backpack, digging inside to pull out a folder. “This is my favourite picture of my dad and my uncles. My dad doesn’t know I have it though. I found it when I was fooling around with Uncle Javy, and he gave it to me. He made me promise never to tell my dad that I even knew it existed. I…I think it’s from my dad’s wedding to my mom. Uncle Javy made it seem that way, anyway.”
Charlie opened the folder and pulled out her photo. “That’s my dad, and see? There’s Uncle Roo and Uncle Javy.”
Abby’s shaky finger traced over two other figures who had their arms around each other on the other side of ‘Uncle Roo’. “That’s my Uncle Bob and my Aunt Natasha. Auntie Nat gave me my photo a few years ago when I asked about her about Dagger Squad. But she told me not to tell my mom or my uncle about it. She said that they would be upset.”
“There were taken on the same day,” Charlie murmured, her eyes raking over the photo. “See? The lights in the background, the clothes, the people? They’re all the same.”
“You know what this means, right?” Abby whispered, her finger now tracing over Charlie’s photo, her focus solely on the man in the middle, the man that Charlie had called Dad.
“Abby, it can’t…I don’t…” Charlie swallowed painfully.
“Charlie…I think your dad…was married to my mum.”
A door slamming behind them sent a jolt down both their spines and they spun on the bed to face the intruder.
Amelia set the tray of food down and wiped the water off her face with a sigh. “It’s about time you two figured it out.”

Steve had a habit of accidentally getting into situations.
Dating Nancy got him into the Upside Down stuff, trying to apologise to her made him meet Nancy, working at Scoops and he met Robin and some not so fun Russians and all of that lead to him tracking down Eddie Munson.
But honestly, Steve can't figure out how he got himself into this situation.
Dustin's grandmother was visiting for the summer since for once Dustin wasn't going to camp. Steve had a standing invitation to Sunday dinner with the Henderson's. If Claudia got her way he'd be moved in with them.
Steve was just trying to be polite to the older woman when he asked what she was making. He didn't think it would lead to his own ball of yarn and needles being shoved into his lap. He didn't want to appear rude so he carefully watched as she explained how to start a simple line which lead to rows which lead to almost half a scarf by the time dinner was ready.
Every Sunday Steve found himself with Edith Henderson learning how to knit. He was sad when she went back home.
Steve found it calming, something he could control the outcome of. Plus he enjoyed making things for other people.
The newly acquired skill would prove to be very useful when his very stubborn boyfriend didn't rug up enough come winter.
Steve wrapped Eddie in homemade scarves and mittens and hats and sweaters at every opportunity. Eddie loved it, he did have winter clothes he would wear once it got too cold but he much preferred Steve tackling him into soft knitted things that he'd made just for him.
Steve discovered that scarves were just as useful for pulling Eddie into a kiss as they were keeping him warm.

You know those kandi bracelets? Slashers being gifted these bracelets. I saw someone write about this once and it hasn’t left my brain since
rat chat: dude i love those bracelets!! if they didn’t distract me so much i’d wear them more often.
Slashers Receiving Kandi Bracelets from GN!Reader
featured slashers: billy lenz, jason vorhees, micheal myers
Billy Lenz :
i think this would be one of billy’s favourite gifts ever!!
you’d give him something chunky, with blue and green beads and little kitty charms, and maybe some squishy rubber bobbles thrown on too. for awhile, he’d just roll it around in his palms and not even wear it. he’d just feel up the textures and listen to the way it jingled in his hands. it’s really a stim thing for him, i think he’d really enjoy using it to fidget with.
he’s feral, he’d chew on it too. you’d catch him wearing the bracelet, gnawing on it without even thinking about it. whenever he’s focused on something, or you aren’t in the mood to be his chew toy, he’d use the bracelet instead.
he’d never take it off. it’s his now, why would he? plus YOU gave it to him. that makes it even more special. no, he’d always wear it, and when he doesn’t have it on, it would be tucked away into a pocket. he keeps it as close to him as possible.
billy would wanna make new ones too. it would become a little activity for you both to bond over. you’d buy cool beads and pieces, and bring them home, and watch him sort through them all and find the stuff he likes. and then you would make a bracelet for him, and he’d make a matching one for you.
he’d want you two to match. you’d have the same bracelet except in your favourite colours, or maybe with your initials on them. if you managed to get him out of the house, he’d make you wear it, so people knew you were all his.
Jason Vorhees :
jason would definitely see it as a craft for you two to do together. you’d bring up one day that you missed making friendship bracelets at summer camp, and that you’d bought all the stuff to make some. you two would sit for a bit, and once you’ve finished the one you made for him, he’d wear it everywhere.
jason loves seeing you happy he’s wearing it. that’s his favourite part. whenever he’s outside, cutting wood for your fire pit, and you see the big shiny beading sparkling in the sun, you get so excited. and he sees it. he’ll be watching from the corner of his eye, smiling underneath his mask, all proud that he’s making you so smily.
jason would tie it to his belt loop if he couldn’t wear it. maybe he’s working with power tools or the like, and can’t have loose things hanging off of his arms, so he’d connect it to his pants. he wants to keep it on him, since it’s a nice little reminder of you.
you catch him playing with it a lot. his bracelet has red and black beads, and charms that look like little hearts. you’d have put his initials on it too, and it took you awhile to make it fit his thick wrist right. you’d only make him one or two, since bracelets weren’t really his thing, but he’d appreciate them nevertheless.
he has more fun making them for you, actually. you’d have dozens from him. while you were out doing errands or work, he’d be at home making you little bracelets in his free time. you’d come home and they’d be lined up, all decorated in your favourite colours and charms. he just likes making you things, i think.
Micheal Myers :
very confused by the concept at first. micheal isn’t the biggest on jewellery, obviously, and tends to keep pretty plain in what he wears. when you suddenly give him something so chunky and bright, he’s a little off put.
at first, he doesn’t wear it. he’s not trying to insult you at all. you can see it in the breast pocket of his jumpsuit, and he always makes sure to take it out and put it on the nightstand beside the bed before he takes his things off for the night. he cherishes it, since it’s from you, but it’s harder for him to get used to.
once you make a matching bracelet, and start wearing it around so that he notices, he starts wearing it much more often. he never mentions it either. you just see him one day wearing it with you, and when you try to say something, he just covers your mouth and continues whatever he’s doing. he gets flustered when he’s called out on his sweeter actions.
the one you make for you both is navy blue and white, and has little skulls and knives hanging off of it. the beads spell out “y/n + micheal” in sparkly bubble letters. that’s his favourite part. he never really got that sweet teenage romance phase, so getting to do silly little things like this make his heart flutter.
i think he’d also use it as a fidget thing. i think when he’s anxious, maybe out running errands without his mask, he’d be rubbing at the charms in his pocket to keep himself calm. he’d like having a little reminder of you close to him, since you make him feel safe.

Tumblr media
“you could’ve let me stay at grandma’s!” you disappointedly looked at your parents. “she’s busy just as we are, plus honey its just for three weeks, it’ll pass you quickly!”
you stared at your parents packing your stuff into a (ten times bigger than you) suitcase.
you’re twelve, and it’s the first time you’d be going to a summer camp, they clearly don’t trust you with the suit packing so they decided to do it themselves.
“we packed you everything from A to Z, you’re all ready for tomorrow!” your mother looked at you and you could see the excitement on her face.
“you’re going to have real fun!” your father added, “most of your friends are going to be there!”
“they’re not really my friends” you said quietly, your parents are too old to hear what you said anyway.
your parents than pat your head and smiled, “you should go sleep now, you have to wake up early for the big day tomorrow!”
next thing you knew you were already on the bus, full of little kids around the same age as you, and a few elderly people who were your counselors.
your seat was near the window so through the whole ride you just looked out for the view, not even bothering to notice who sits next to you.
“we’ve finally arrived! everyone go to your counselors and they’ll guide you to your cabins! we’ll gather up together around 7pm, in the meantime, get comfortable and don’t be afraid to talk with your counselor if something is bothering you!”
you sighed heavily and walked after your counselor who introduced you to a small cabin, with four beds and a place to put all your belongings.
“y/n, you’ll be here together with your three friends” your counselor smiled warmly at you and you nodded.
“hey! you’re y/n right?” one of the roommates asked you and you nodded. “don’t you know how to talk?” they all giggled and you looked away.
“don’t think you can join our group just because you’re in this room, it’s annoying enough to have you here” another one said and they all laughed.
“just go catch your bed and don’t do anything stupid” the other one pointed at one specific bed as if she had already decided for you which bed you’re going to sleep in.
kids can be cruel sometimes.
it was 5pm, in two hours you’re all going to gather up for dinner.
you have two hours to get to your counselor and talk with her about wanting to change a cabin or call your parents to take you out of here.
two hours feels like a nightmare in a place like this, full of cabins and in the middle of the woods, luckily, your counselor told you where she’d be staying, you just can’t really remember where is it when all of the cabins look the same.
after half an hour of debating which cabin is your counselor’s cabin, you found another counselor whom you recognized as the 11 years old kids counselor.
“hello! i’m y/n, i’m twelve years old, do you perhaps know where my counselor is?” you asked nicely and he smiled at you.
“yes! i can take you to them” he pat your head and took your hand to guide you to your counselor’s cabin. “wait here i’ll call her” he said and went into the cabin.
after a few minutes, your counselor came out and you thanked the other counselor for saving your day.
“hey y/n is everything o-“ “i would like to change a cabin please” you said, cutting her off before she could finish the sentence.
“why? what happened?” she asked worriedly. “i just don’t like the girls that much” you could feel a few tears threatening to fall and she was quick to hug you.
“okay okay, everything’s fine, wait here a few minutes i’ll go see what i can do okay?” she looked at you and you nodded. “oh? there’s jungwon! jungwon, come here for a second!”
you looked over a saw a boy who looks around the same age as you, confusedly walking up to your counselor.
“can you stay a few minutes with y/n? i need to check for a free place in a cabin for her” your counselor pat his head, “wait, we have a free bed in our cabin! she can join us!” he suggested.
“really jungwon? are you sure?” “yeah! we would like to have another roommate” he smiled.
you took a glance at jungwon and saw how his dimples suddenly showed up with his smile. there’s something about his smile that just makes your mood bright up and you don’t know how to explain it.
“thank you” you whispered and he then looked at you, “i don’t think we’ve met before which is quite weird because we’re around the same age, but hey im jungwon” he waved and you waved back, “i’m y/n” you replied.
“do you need help with your bags?” he asked and you nodded. he took your hand and asked you to lead the way to your now old cabin, so you could take your bags and place them in your new cabin.
as you arrived at the small cabin, you noticed that three beds were already occupied by the rest of your roommates.
“are you new? you’re going to join our cabin? hey! i’m wonyoung!” a girl with the cutest smile you’ve ever seen came up to hug you. “im taesan!” a cute boy popped out and smiled. “you already know me” jungwon giggled.
“i’m y/n, thank you for accepting me” you became emotional for a second and wiped the tears that were about to fall.
the rest of the day went by fast, you got to know your roommates quickly and even sat with them for dinner. when it was time to get back to the cabins, the four of you sat down in a circle and played a few games.
taesan and wonyoung ended up falling asleep before you and jungwon, so you two decided to just talk for a bit.
“your eyes reminds me of boba pearls” you suddenly said and jungwon laughed, “it’s the first time i’m hearing something like that” he covered his mouth in amusement. “i’m going to call you boba from now on” you replied and he nodded.
you kept talking and getting to know each other more. he told you that just like you, he didn’t like the idea of going on a summer camp, but due to his parents being 24/7 outside of home, he was forced to be in this camp. you also learnt that you were so busy on being annoyed with the summer camp, that you didnt notice he was sitting right next to you the whole ride.
you both ended up falling asleep really late that night.
the next day you woke up tired and could barely even function, but the late night talkings became your habit and favorite thing in this whole camp.
just like that, three weeks passed by real fast.
each day would be a new adventure for you and your new friends that you made, and every night you would spent those late night hours talking and chatting about whatever with jungwon. your bond became stronger and stronger with each day that came by.
on the last days of the camp, you all went to the beach and your counselor brought a polaroid camera with her.
“hey jungwon! let’s take a picture under this tree!” you suggested and he nodded.
the tree was a coconut tree, it was located a bit far from the beach, but even if you took a picture there, you could see the beautiful view of the beach behind.
you two called your counselor and asked her to take two pictures, one for you to keep and one for jungwon to keep.
she called you two cuties as you posed and made funny faces to the camera, and when the pictures were ready, she handed you them and you started fighting over which picture you’d be taking.
in one picture you and jungwon were putting your shoulders over each other, making peace signs with a big smile on your faces, and on the other picture you two were making funny faces to the camera.
“i like this one better! its funny and cute!” you said, “but i look really pretty there” he frowned.
“you always look pretty, boba” you smiled.
you ended up taking the picture you wanted. after all, jungwon decided to do everything to make you happy and to make this summer camp become your best memorial.
on the last day you cried. you cried heavily, suddenly not wanting to leave and get back to your family, especially not wanting to leave jungwon.
jungwon hugged you tightly, he too was crying. you made the best memories in this camp, and you met the kid that made you the happiest whenever you were with him. losing him meant that you’d be losing your happiness as well.
you held the picture you took a few days ago close to your heart through all the ride back home. “i’m going to miss you” he quietly said. “i’m going to miss you too” you replied.
“we’ll meet again next summer in the same summer camp again, i promise” he forced you to make a pinky promise and smiled.
you two know you won’t be able to meet up through the rest of the year, jungwon lives a bit far away and your parents won’t be able to drive you to there. you both also study in different schools and have different societies.
as you arrived back home and hugged your parents, you could only hope you’d be able to meet him again.
a year passed by quickly, and it was time for you to start begging to your parents to send you off to summer camp.
“what’s so good about this summer camp? you didn’t even want to go there in the first place” your father said, “plus, we finally get to stay at home for the summer, we can enjoy our time together”
and as much as your parents tried to convince you, you were so driven and stubborn so they eventually gave up.
now all you had to do is hope that he’d do the same for you.
“hello everyone! it’s time for another summer camp! are you excited just as me?” one of the counselors started talking but you were too busy searching for that one kid that could make you smile.
you squeezed and pushed other kids, too desperate to find the boy you were so willing to see again.
after a few minutes of searching, you found your friends, wonyoung and taesan.
“hey! omg its been so long i missed you two” you said and hugged them. “y/n! we’re so happy to see you!” wonyoung hugged you tightly, a few tears falling down as a relief to see you.
“did you perhaps see-“ “finally, i’ve been searching for you like forever!” someone back hugged you tightly.
you jumped in your place but when you turned around, you saw the only reason you’re going to this camp, your favorite person of all time.
you jumped on him and hugged him as if you haven’t seen each other in forever (a year is too much), he hugged you back and giggled, “i missed you” he said. “i missed you too.”
then again, you found yourself in the same cabin with the same roommates, the four of you together were literally inseparable, but your friendship with jungwon became even stronger than before.
“there’s something special about that, you know?” jungwon told you in one of your night chatting routines, “what’s special about what?” you asked. “about our friendship” he smiled, “i think it’s because we’re very similar and can relate to each other, i feel more connected to you every new day”
“think about it, we’ve met last year and didn’t even talk after the summer camp, but we still found each other in this place again” he held your hand and you smiled, “you’re right actually”
“i don’t know what i would’ve done without you” you sighed.
on one of the days, you got to walk around the camp just to relax, so you, jungwon, wonyoung and taesan decided to go picnic.
“can’t believe we’ve only met a year ago” taesan said and you all agreed, “it feels like i’ve known your asses ever since i was five” you added and they giggled.
“what are we going to do after the camp? vanish from your life and then return after a year again?” wonyoung asked. “let’s just exchange phone numbers” jungwon said, “write them down and i’ll add all of you in a groupchat once we get our phones back” he added and you all nodded.
the camp’s policy is no phones are allowed, so you spend all of your time together, without even getting bored for once.
the rest of the camp days flashed by so quickly, in a day you’d be leaving this camp for a whole other year, but just like last year, all of the camp went to the beach again before you had to say your goodbyes.
“hey jungwon!” you called, “let’s recreate our photos!” he completed you before you could finish your sentence, “you know me well boba” you giggled.
you took the pictures and began to fight on who’s going to take the picture again,
“i don’t want to have the same- wait no i meant familiar picture!” he complained, you two recreated the photos so perfectly that they almost seem the same (except for the fact that you’re a year older now). “but i turned out really pretty there” you held the photo closer to you, “you’re always pretty boba” he smirked and winked,
oh he just used your sentence as a roast.
he ended up getting the picture he wanted, after all how could you say no to such cute boba eyes?
then, the day you were most afraid of arrived, the last day of the camp. you were already familiar with the feelings that are about to come out and all the tears that are threatening to fall.
this year is even harder than last year and you barely even sleep the night before, you and jungwon pulled an all nighter because you wanted to spend those hours together as much as you could.
“i’ll see you next year too, right?” he asked and you nodded. “plus you have my phone number, so we’ll be okay” he smiled.
“it’s just that talking on the phone and being with each other is not the same” you frowned after wiping the tears. he knew you were right, so you both embraced each other until it was time to let go.
it’d be the same routine each year, you spending the rest of the year talking on the phone and meeting up in the summer camp, then on the last few days you’re recreating your famous picture together and crying when you have to leave.
you’re eighteen years old now, and its the first year that something had changed around the camp. you and jungwon became camp counselors.
you looked at jungwon, who was wearing his camp counselor shirt and smiled, “the shirt suits you” you smiled, “you look even more pretty in this shirt” he complimented you.
“we’re going to be counselors together” you pointed out. “yeah” he smiled, “it has been one of my dreams actually”
“to be a counselor with you” he added and you nodded, “i look forward to work with you, boba” you chuckled.
to say that you didn’t catch feelings for jungwon would be a complete and total lie. and it’s obviously the same in his case.
you two became OBSESSED with each other, your texting became from ‘hey’s and ‘bye’s to nonstop texting everyday.
as you watched jungwon grow up, you couldn’t deny that he was becoming more handsome and mature in your eyes.
and as jungwon watched you grow up, he couldn’t stop thinking how breathtaking you look by each year that passes.
through the camp, you and jungwon fell in love with the kids you were counseling. they were so overly adorable and enjoyable to be with (also the fact that they kept pushing you and jungwon next to each other just to explain how much they want you two to date added to their cuteness).
and as the very last days of the camp arrived, you went with the kids to the beach.
you and jungwon wanted to take another recreation of your pictures (of course, it’s a tradition already) so you asked one of the other counselors to take a look at your children while you’re going to recreate it.
you brought your polaroid camera and dragged wonyoung to take the picture.
“please! it’s going to be real fast!” you begged her. “it better be, i left taesan alone with the kids and i do not trust him” she rolled her eyes.
as you and jungwon got ready to pose, he paused. “wait wonyoung!” he said.
“im in hurry!” she said.
“what is it?” you asked. jungwon then took out something from his pocket, it was a bracelet with yours and his initials on it.
“i wanted to give this to you and i also wanted to ask you something” he took a deep breath, “y/n, would you make me the happiest person on earth and agree to be my girlfriend?”
you covered your mouth in shock, “yes of course!” you took the bracelet he got you and put it on your wrist, “i love it so much!”
jungwon then held your waist to get you closer to him and kissed you.
the kiss was so sweet and romantic, you completely forgot about the fact that there are other people in the world and just focused on you both.
*click* “oops im so sorry! i forgot i have a camera in my hands” wonyoung smirked and giggled.
you and jungwon blushed out of embarrassment.

Do the cats have a good way to preserve meat? Boar meat wouldn't be so worth it if it could only feed the clan for a day before it spoiled
In BB yes, absolutely. Preserving food for later use is a major job of the Head of Kitchen Patrol, which in ThunderClan's latest arc is currently Sorreltail. Though she's definitely already training her successor so she can finally retire, if she hasn't already
Even before the food processing begins, Clans have some different behaviors to account for this;
Big hunts are never done in summer (ThunderClan) Not only is it so hot that you're more likely to get heatstroke (cats can't sweat the same way humans do), not ONLY do you have less time in a day to hunt because of that (In any other season, you can hunt into the day or night, but in summer there's an entire 8-hour stretch of time where the sun is beating down on you), but you're also racing against time before the organs begin to spoil. Getting a boar home is a HUGE task, even a small one. Human hunters "grallock" our prey, digging a hole and leaving the organs behind, so that we can carry the carcass easier. But organs are MOST of the nutrition for a Clan cat. No, better to simply hunt big food when it gets cold. (plus, ThunderClan finds the snow helpful. They don't sink into it the way that a heavy boar does.)
Animals are quickly stored in a larder (All Clans except RiverClan) A larder is a deep tunnel that is dug in the ground at various points along a patrol, like a "root cellar". Unlike canon they don't "bury" it where they find it and come back for it, because this causes wasted backtracking AND wasted prey as the hunter forgets where they buried it. Larders are at strategic points along popular routes. Sometimes a cheeky apprentice in ShadowClan will shove their catch in the bog, where it gets preserved TOO well. Batear hopes HIS is still there though :P
Everything is DROPPED when a cat happens to come across a large carcass and runs back to camp Seriously, when someone runs in saying they've found a fallen or dying deer, a bunch of cats will jump up and follow them. Yes, you could use this to your traitorous advantage, but dying deer are a lot more common than coup-de-tats.
When it comes to food preservation itself, the way they preserve meat is going to depend a lot on the Clan. ShadowClan likes fermentation, chopping stuff up to store in stomachs and intestines and processing them as sausages. ThunderClan smokes everything. RiverClan likes to preserve things in spices and leave stuff out to dry, but has a massive event in autumn where they catch and store salmon for the winter. WindClan used to use their tunnels but is going through a salt kick at the Lake.
A truly canon-compliant Clan is going to have issues. Digging tunnels will help to make food last. In the winter, the snow can be used directly; but only a desert Clan (ironically) will be able to construct a natural refrigerator. You can follow this recipe for Dried Minnows to preserve just about any strip of meat.
But overall... you will have issues as a canon compliant Clan. but also a compliant Clan could never take down a boar, so, it balances out.

god you wish you never took that stupid job at starcourt mall, but steve was a little too convincing...
"c'mon y/n, we'll go in, apply to a couple of places and if we hear back that's great and then you can save up for a car and i'll save up for college or whatever" steve explained as you sat in his car outside the mall
the engine was turned off, leaving you to contemplate in the silence, your head leaning against the window and your body facing him in the drivers seat
"i don't know steve... a job at the mall?" you questioned and he looked at you with eyes sweeter than honey
"look, you've been saying yourself you feel bad i'm driving you everywhere and that your mom would meet you halfway on the price of a car" he said, using your own words against you
"yeah and eddie's not around to drive me too" you said sadly
you sighed
okay fine, part of the reason you didn't want to get a job at starcourt was because your boyfriend eddie was touring around america with some new band called guns n' roses and it made you feel like the biggest loser that you're stuck in the the middle of nowhere indiana working at a mall
but you knew steve was right, and that you couldn't depend on eddie to drive you to school anymore, and that you felt bad that steve had been driving the two of you around the past few months
you knew you needed the independence so you sighed, and got up, your back cracking a little in the process
"fine, let's go get a job but i'm not dealing with anything with food" you said as the two of you got out of the car and shut the doors
"yeah i'm sorry but you really just can't cook for shit" steve laughed and the two of you started walking inside
。.・゜✭・.・✫・゜・。.
after a month at working at the gap, and seeing your paycheck, things weren't too bad working at the mall
steve got his job at scoops ahoy and luckily, his schedule somehow coincided with yours so he would drive the two of you
you had talked to eddie a few times over the past week, last time you guys spoke he said he was somewhere on the east coast and he was very happy for you and your new job
of course, you still felt like a loser working at the gap in hawkins while your boyfriend is an actual rockstar but steve made the mall bareable
plus, you finally became friends with robin, a girl you would always see around school but never talked to
the three of you would hang out constantly, and you were just happy in your little life of sneaking into the movies with them, or when steve would finish up before you and bother you in the store by trying on random clothes to keep you entertained till you left an hour later
that was until dustin came home from summer camp
you had finished up early at your shift at the gap, and walked over to scoops ahoy to bother steve and robin for the remainder of their shifts
it was nearing dinner time, meaning, most people weren't getting ice cream to eat, leaving the shop empty but you heard the three of them bustling around in the back
you rang the bell, and steve opened up the small window that separated the back room from the front counter
"oh hey y/n, we're just uh- doing stuff back here..." steve said, glancing behind him and then back to you
"wait it's y/n?" you heard dustin say and suddenly his face appeared next to steve's
"come back here, quickly and calmly, i need to tell you something huge" dustin said and you did as you were told
a few minutes later, dustin had explained how he picked up a russian transmission, and that they were trying to crack a secret russian code
hours after hours, you continued to listen to the same message over and over again till eventually you all figured out they were talking about the mall
which led you to the next problem, getting past the big scary russian with a big gun guarding the door
"or i could take him out" steve said nonchalantly
"take who out?" robin questioned
"the guard?" steve replied
"did you forget the part about the big gun?" dustin asked with an annoyed tone
but that guy was the least of your worries
after the secret elevator plummeted down to a crash on the bottom floor, and all five of you slipped through the elevator doors, you were on to finding more of the russians underneath starcourt
after walking for what seemed like miles, you all stumbled upon the hub full of russian guards, scientists, doctors, along with the comms room
and of course chaos ensued again
once in the comms room, you were taken aback by seeing someone in the room with you
robin tried to say the code to the russian man before steve started screaming and charged at the man, knocking him out
"you did it! you won a fight!" dustin exclaimed before a bigger issue caught your eye, the russian's were attempting to open the gate with a large machine which instantly made your stomach drop
alarms started blaring when the guards noticed the five of you, causing panic to ensue and everyone started running
your heart was pounding as everyone scrambled to outrun the guards, steve knocking over giant steel barrels in attempts to slow them down when you all ran into a room, slamming the door behind you
steve pressed his body against the door to keep it shut
"help me!" he yelled as the you and robin ran to him, pressing against the door with all your might
you watched as dustin and erica climbed up stairs and started descending into a hole in the floor
the weight of the guards pushing back seemed to be getting greater and greater
"i'll never forget you!" dustin screamed
"go!" you all screamed in unison as dustin shut the hatch
the guards eventually pushed open the door, causing everyone to go flying
it all went in slow motion as they opened the door, the weight of the push had sent your body flying to the wall, knocking you into complete darkness
to be continued…

¨When The Owl House finishes we aren’t going to have more story driven animated shows/ shows with arcs¨
This is a rumor that has been spreading lately and it isn’t all true.
Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur has been confirmed to become story driven early on and based on the latest episodes, it looks like it is starting to do that.
The Ghost and Molly Mcgee Season 2 has been confirmed by Steve Loter to be more story driven. The first season has a ¨bigger narrative¨ as well.
And if you are fan of Star Wars, you could enjoy ¨The Bad Batch¨ on Disney Plus. It’s has story arcs with some standalone episodes in between. Great stuff.
Moving to shows that aren’t from Disney:
Craig of the Creek later becomes more or less this from Season 3 forward. It’s semi-episodic.
In Summer Camp Island takes a while but it later develops complex lore and some character arcs.
Hilda the series is a beautiful show that has an overall story with each episode being a standalone story connected to other episodes.
Lego Monkie Kid is great show with a story driven narrative with complex characters and some morally grey situations.
Kung Fu Panda: The Dragon Warrior has a whole story. It isn’t an amazing show but it has its moments.
My Dad The Bounty Hunter is an space sci-fi show that turns into the protagonists fighting against an exploitative destructive company and explores a complicated family relationship.
Sonic Prime has an story with characters jumping into different dimensions and a main character arc for Sonic.
I also heard that The Legend of Vox Machina is good. It’s a show with a medieval story fantasy setting. Note: It’s an adult animation show.
In addition to that, Fionna and Cake mini series spin off and Unicorns: Warriors Eternal are coming out this year.
I understand if some of you can’t access this shows because they are on Netflix or HBO Max. But the point is that there are still some story driven shows out there and the rumor that there aren’t anymore isn’t totally accurate. You can find them if you look for them.

OchaJirou vs TsuChako? Missed Opportunity!!
I've always felt like if Horikoshi wasn't so dead set on making Tsu Ochako's bestie, Jirou could have just played the role better. These two feel so natural and cool.
Plus, the way Jirou is always looking at Ochako and Ochako loves Jiro's music and stuff, it feels so real. Plus, they both have those cute short hair...
Tumblr media
In fact, working with Tsu could have been a challenge for her, because Tsu is always so dead set on following all the rules all the time while Ochako has a more carefree kind of nature. Tsu can also occasionally be brash about something.
Tumblr media
Like they could have easily made Tsuyu a very serious and rational person, who follows rules above everything else.
She's also the bigger sister in her family (canon) , so naturally she didn't like Ochako at first but then Summer camp happens, Toga attacks and Tsuyu sends Ochako to get help but as we know from cannon, Ochako comes back, saves Tsu and gets hurt in the process.
This could easily have been the cause of conflict between them, because they both were valid.
Even if the rules said to use their quirks for defence, Ochako coming back saved Tsuyu's life. But if Ochako wasn't able to apprehend Toga in her first attempt, she would have hurt Ochako more and it could have put both of their lives in danger.
They biker about this like BakuShouto and still they somehow team up to save others but it doesn't go so well because Kacchan gets kidnapped.
And that again, becomes a conflict for TsuChako because Ochako wanted to go save Bakugo while Tsu refused to cooperate. This could have been a great character development for both of them working together now to save Toga.
Tumblr media
We know all girls in class 1a are pretty close.
They often have girls night and occasionally tease each other about their crushes and stuff but not everyone needs to be all nice and sweet all the time. A little bickering here and there and more competition could have added more depth to their arcs.
So what I wanted was Tsu to be more of a rival to Ochako, in terms of both power and ideals. And in the end, Ochako's growth remains the same but her actions inspire Tsu to break out of her tunnel vision and help everyone in need.
Tumblr media
But as we all know, none of that happens in the cannon.
Tumblr media
Instead, both Tsu and Ochako are good girls who get along easily, follow all the rules, yada yada and we end up with Tsu being Ochako's sidekick for some reason instead of her best friend.
And Jirou? Why doesn't she even have a single team up with Jirou? Their powers are so complementary!! Ochako could lift stuff and Jirou could fire it with her earphone jack!! In fact, Jirou could even make stuff (like debris) for Ochako to engage in combat (with her support item)
I'm still pissed that we got so little of OchaJiro moments in the manga...
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
It was such a missed opportunity!!
