Rabbit -- one of your cherished stuffed companions

Rabbit belongs to one of you dear people, and she gave me permission to share his story with you.:-) He was in the hospital about a year ago.

She initially wrote:

I live in South Florida and I am a big fan of your hospital! I have a stuffed rabbit plush animal, I believe he may have once been a Bugs Bunny plush, but to me he has always been "Rabbit" and I cannot find any leads online as to his "origins". Rabbit has been with me since I was 6 months old-- he's almost 24 years old! He's been my constant companion, and I still sleep with him and love him to this day. As you might imagine, this has led to many surgeries... 

Lately, Rabbit has had very thin fabric fur, and you can see through to the stuffing (mostly on his tummy). He's also in need of some new stuffing, as his current has gotten pretty clumpy over the years. My mom and I have talked about possibly giving him a  complete fur transplant on his tummy as we have applied patches before, but we aren't experts and don't want to cause him harm! He gets holes in his fabric very easily as he has become very delicate from love over the years... We are almost afraid to touch him with anything other than a hug! 

Now there were many photos attached to this note, and just fyi, for diagnosis the more photos the better, but you all don't need quite so many close ups... here are three critical photos from his diagnosis:

You can really see in the last two photos how thin his fabric was getting.... but he has such a cute face, and it's mostly embroidered, and I thought they may want to keep that, so.... there were many (actually 7!) options for his care. Keep in mind, he's over 2 feet long, too. Here were the treatment options (a spa could be added to any):

1) Given his style of fabric, and his artistic belly patches, and the fact that he has embroidered facial features, we could line his body with new fabric.  This reinforces his body and limbs while keeping his current appearance.  He would get all new body stuffing as part of this treatment, as the stuffing would need to come out for lining and it can't go back in.  But, a small amount of original stuffing would be preserved in a heart in his chest.  With this treatment, he could still wear, but you would see lining before stuffing.  Also, for future repairs, the lining could take the pressure of stitches away from his skin.  I would also minimize the older scarring on his side. 

2) I can do everything in option 1, plus line his head. 

3) I can do everything in option 1, plus line his head and ears. 

4) Instead of lining, we could recover just his belly and lower sides of limbs. His original skin (and old patches) would remain underneath, reinforcing the new fabric.  I would get as close as possible to his current fabric color and texture.  Perfect fabric matches are rarely possible, but if that is the case, I will send photos of him with transplant options so you can choose what you like best. I would also minimize his scars. 

5) I can recover his entire torso and limbs (leaving his head and ears as is). I would also minimize his scars.

6) I can recover his belly and lower side of limbs around his patches (keeping his artistic appearance). I would also minimize his scars.

7) I can recover his belly around his patches and recover the rest of his body and limbs. I would also minimize his scars.

His person thought about it, discussed it with her family, and ultimately decided on option 5: recover his entire torso and limbs but leave his head and ears as is. They also added a spa for Rabbit, which would treat the lumpiness of his stuffing as well as clean him.

So Rabbit flew to the hospital and began treatment with his bubble bath:

He got restuffed before recovering, so here is his heart being made and installed with a bit of his original stuffing:

I started by recovering his gray areas, leaving the white of his pawpads and tail original. At this point, I sent chubbiness approval photos and let his person decide whether she still wanted to recover the white (which was in better shape than the gray):

His person wrote: "Wow, he looks amazing!! His chubbiness looks perfect, I can't wait to hold him! I would like to recover his white patches of fur"

So Rabbit got closed up, and the white got recovered, and then he was ready to fly home!

Approved, Rabbit flew home to Florida. When he arrived back cross country, his person wrote:

Rabbit is home!! Thank you so, so much!! He looks amazing, he's soooo soft and cuddly, I can't wait to spend many many more years with my darling angel rabbit! I cannot thank you enough Doctor, you're truly an angel!! I'm so blessed to have found you and your lovely hospital!! My mom and I can't stop gushing over how soft and cuddly Rabbit is, he's like brand new! I'll continue to treasure him for the rest of my life with your help!

But yeah! I agree with everything you theorized. Maybe Freddy would wear a necklace or smth? Like, two necklaces that spells out Gregory's and Vanessa's names, while he also has a tiny Bonnie plush tucked into his hatch near where his heart would be.

if freddy kept Gregory close near his heart where bonnie left a hole, but when Gregory grows too much to fit inside anymore he replaces the empty space with a bonnie plush ...

I think freddys paint coming off would mean so much because he would REpaint it. I think Gregory and vanessa (who MADE m.x.e.s) would 100% have to uphold maintenance on Freddy, and they already canonically gave him his body back shown by the footprints in ruin.

which means they would repaint him too, but I think freddy would WANT to exclude his facepaint and lightning bolt. he would also choose to repaint his earring to stay red and even be a closer shade to Bonnie's cooler toned red. he would keep his red leg warmers because he matches with bonnie. anything that means something, manufactured originally or not, stays. but his face paint painted HIM as the face of the brand and he wouldnt want to be Freddy fazbear anymore

for some reason, a really strong memory that persists to this day is being very young and playing with a little plush puppy that had 3 regular pads on its paws, and one that was a logo. and I'd made up a story that the pawpads were a sapient family (of pawpads): a mum and a dad with 2 kids. but the mum had been transformed and almost zombified by some unknown force into words and could no longer communicate with them, and the family were afraid and couldn't understand why. I was so creeped out by my own story, yet I couldn't stop myself from going on with this cosmic horror even tho I really didnt have to, and to any adult watching me, it just would've looked like I was staring at the underside of a toy dog. like even I wouldn't know what I'm trying to explain here if it weren’t for the fact that I can still clearly recall doing it at the time. I wasn't even acting something out through play like children do sometimes, I don't know what this was. all I really know is I scared myself so much that it stayed in my head for over 20 years lmao

Pattern: Based off FreakHoundStudios, but I altered it quite a bit for rounder, fluffier kitty paws and for a useable dewclaw.

If you wanted tips on making your own LED paws, my first word of advice is don't! But if you're stubborn, I've written up what I learned and would do differently next time. But there probably will not be a next time unless I lose my mind 🤞

It's worth mentioning that my personal style of fursuit making is sleek and form fitting; I want my pieces to feel more like an extension of the wearer, rather than a cartoony plush costume. It's just my preference! As such though, I left as little wiggle room for installing these lights as possible, and I have no idea if this would be physically possible if you don't have tiny baby hands like me. If you want to do this, you'd probably want to go with a big chunky paw design to save yourself the incredible struggle.

The most important thing I learned is that you're going to want to use the method of pawpad making that slots them in the fur like a pattern piece, rather than sewing them overtop of the fur. The fur will block out the light, as I learned when i had to cut out the fur backings from all the pads and glue in fabric to hold the stuffing in place. I did, in fact, end up cutting one of the palm pads, and having to completely rip out and remake it after the rest of them were finished.

It may have made more sense to install the lights before turning out the paws, but there were several reasons why I didn't think this would work any better than shoving them in the paw after it was complete. First, since my paws are so form fitting like I said, I really don't think the lights actually would've stayed in place through the trauma of turning them out. Also, the way I made the lining, I installed a little zipper in both paws so that the wires and battery pack stay contained between the raw fur and the lining. In retrospect, I may have been able to attach the lining to the back of the paw and access the pads before I turned the paw out, but... Idk, my brain just wasn't able to conceptualize getting the lining right that way, since the zipper needed to be on the paw pad side.

Originally, I tried using velcro so that the lights could be completely removeable, but you're going to need a pretty strong hold to keep them in place and it just didn't work. So, I ended up completing the paws entirely before gluing the lights in. Again, I have no idea how you'd do this with even average sized hands. I ended up turning the paw inside out up to the palm pad, installing those lights really firmly with hot glue, and then putting it back to do the rest. I would tape down the wires after every 2 of them so I had room to get the light to where it needed to be before the glue cooled. (I could have possibly used a different glue for this, but. I didn't have any! So I simply accepted getting burned a lot. My hands are very rough so it really doesn't hurt me, don't worry :> )

I held the lights like this as to protect the glue as I shoved them in and tried to get them in place inside the openings I left in the paw pads. (The failed velcro was at least useful for having an exact spot to be glued, so it wasn't a total loss.) Each light probably took at least 3 or 4 tries to get in without all the glue rubbing off, or cooling before I could get it in place. It was terrible. I was sweating, cities were burning, beer was flowing. I am so proud of these and happy I made them, but I desperately do not ever want to go through this ever again. If you wish this torture for youself, then godspeed and good luck o7

Altair is all set!

Altair is made of custom dyed minky, minky and mochi minky. The clothing is made of jersey knit and cotton fabric, with basic zigzag stitch details and color detailing added on using fabric marker. The stand at about 17 inches from the top of the head to the bottoms of the feet. The details on this plush are machine embroidered and appliqued. The pawpads are 3D and squishy! The sweater/shirt can be pulled off of the plush by pulling it over the head!

Some fun facts:

The only colors on this plush that aren't dyed are the Black and Snow White!

This is the first time I’ve used any type of jersey knit on a plush to make the clothing! 

Call it pride, but I was determined to keep the extra fluffy details on Altair’s chest and belly, despite also needing to make the clothing.

Altair went through some hefty edits after some colorbleed-- all the white and platinum needed to be replaced after turning blue! But edits were able to be done to the belly/chest fluff design.

pawface really intrigues me, do you have any kind of backstory/lore for it? what inspired it? :-O

Pawface doesn't really have uhhhh an in-universe story or anything, they're just kinda a guy (a guy so chill that they disregard the laws of physics and biology)! But I can tell you where they originated from.

I created Pawface (or the species of pawfaced wolves, I guess Pawface-with-a-capital-P is just a representation of them all really...) in my high school art & design class in 2010 as a potential clock design. Me being 15-year-old me, all I wanted to do there was draw animals. The teacher kept telling me I had to draw a design that was more than Simply An Animal and I got frustrated and drew an animal but slightly weird. Pawface was born! The teacher was more pleased with this.

Pawface didn't end up being developed into my final clock design, but I did make this small clay model of it as part of the project. Its 'full name' is technically Pawface Clockface... There were some wire clock hands in that little hole in the pawpad.

It creeped out my classmates and I was kinda delighted by that, and it became one of those things I doodled a lot at the time.

The plushie was started in September 2011 and finished nearly a year later (lol), and honestly even a decade later they're still one of the best things I've sewn! I find they're a good one to show people irl who are interested in my plush making. They're just a cool guy I guess!

She did earn a few pinpricks until she thought the wolf she made earned a right amount of shape and squish and fluffiness. But those tiny wounds on her pawpads could always heal later, it's nothing she couldn't handle. Striding towards Pokey, Amaterasu settled down in front of him with a gift box in her forepaws, the lid was not bound by any wrapping as it would be too much of a hassle right now.

If Pokey were to open a box, it was a very soft wolf plush with red fur and a black nose, also with a light red underbelly. There was a tag on its ear that read "for Pokey". She hoped he would like it at least.

Pokey opened it, looking down at it in confusion.

He snatched it out of the box, looking at it for a moment before hugging it to his chest. "Hmph..."

FNAF Friend Oc's!

Hi everyone! Mostly disregard this post, but I've been working on a FNAF oc project- I've created some OC's inspired by my friends, myself and my partners. It's a fun little thing because I love coming up with characters, why not make some that reminds you of your friends?

This concept uses personality traits and the likes and dislikes of my friends, myself or my partner, and turns them into their own OC... This is very unfinished and needs work. If anyone has any suggestions, let me know. This first one is a Security Breach OC.

I'm also missing art, and don't have the skills to draw! If anyone has any ideas, or even wants to draw something, please do!

NAME: FEROX

SPECIES- FOSSA

Ferox is a brand-new animitronic. After the loss of Bonnie bunny, that left an empty space in the Fazbear band for a drummer. The children at the pizzaplex kept asking inquisitively about where the missing band member went, if he was hurt, or if he was ever coming back.

The employees are made to tell the children "While Bonnie Bun is taking a quick vacation, their friend Ferox will take his place."

Ferox is a tall, imposing animatronic, with the body type of a Madagascan Fossa. With golden eyes, plush mahogany fur and a long tail, the rare animal type is intruiging to children.

However, much like his mammalian counterpart, the animatronic himself is more elusive and solitary than the other animatronics. He prefers to be behind his drum set or in his room. With autographs and dealing with the kids, he tends to hide to himself on the side of the stage.

He doesn't interact much with the other animatronics much either. He'll make small talk- but the other Glamrocks are just too loud. He will however stay after hours with DJ Music man, as he makes great climbing practice and, despite the gigantic speakers, is much gentler than the others.

That being said, Fazbear entertainment found a use for this brand new, unique animitronic- backup security. While a human security guard may make a mistake, or fall asleep, machinery doesn't take breaks. Or require payment.

DESIGN

-Ferox was actually a test subject for Fazbear Entertainments new plush form animatronic. With soft rubber pawpads and cloth coat, not only was Ferox built to be soft and cuddly for children, but quiet and stealthy when scaling the tall beams of the Pizzaplex. The only downside- the cloth coat is less durable than the other animatronics hard plastic and metal exoskeletons. That being said, Ferox is extremely light compared to the other animatronics, making him faster, quieter and more dexterous than the other, heavier animatronics.

SKILL 1- CLIMBING

In the wild, the Fossa is an excellent climber. It's wrists turn an entire 180, and with semi-retractable claws, the fossa can scale trees, both up or down. Fazbear entertainment used this concept for an animatronic that could climb, to watch and entertain children, getting scared children down safely from rock walls and the jungle gyms, and to find and catch any intruders in the Pizzaplex after hours.

While semi sharp claws were an interesting design choice for Fazbear Entertainments brand new character, they justified this with Ferox's double security feature, and an extra grip of both intruders and scared children. The same goes for Ferox's sharp teeth.

SKILL 2- CAMERA AND AUDIO INTERFERENCE

With Ferox's security feature, he was equipped with an extra set of video recorders in his eyes. This feature was implemented as a way to keep lawsuits away (with the animatronic being able to see the children, even through crowds) and as a way to find and prosecute after-hours intruders. Ferox is also a built in audio mixer- employees use his programming to play the music at the pizzaplex. As Ferox performs or moves with a crowd, with an audio system moving with them, makes the bands performances even more immersive. This also serves as a backup in case any instruments or animatronics have an audio malfunction. This also comes in handy as a backup audio system and a way to distract or lure intruders in the pizzaplex.

SKILL 3- RHYTHM DETECTION

Ferox's programming as the drummer of the band autmatically gives him a way to keep perfect time and rhythm with whatever song the band is playing. Fazbear Entertainment also uses this as a way to detect footstep rhythms of intruders, and to detect hearbeat rhythms of scared, frightened, or children running too fast.
