quick & dirty werewolf romance rec list

Wolfsong & the rest of the Green Creek Series by TJ Klune. Addictive, heart wrenching, fantastic. MM, adult, coming of age gay romances with high drama and romantic tension. If you want to read about werewolves, this is the gold standard. I'm in love with Klune's writing style. LGBTQA+ rep -- book three features an ace romance!!!

Cold Hearted by Heather Guerre (Tooth and Claw #1). @matsuoclan has the BEST book recommendations, oh my god. Grace moves to a remote town in Alaska to escape her past, and finds a new family, and more besides. Explores the themes of loneliness and depression with a supernatural twist, with a sprinkle of enemies to lovers. Love this book, will devour the series >:3

Ruby and the Wolf by Clover Down. @dominimoonbeam remains one of my favourite PNR writers. After putting her life on the line for a stranger, Ruby finds herself on the run from vampires with the wolf she saved. SO STEAMY. SO GOOD.

Mating the Huntress by Talia Hibbert. A werewolf falls head over heels for a hunter. SO GOOD. SO FUN. READ IT.

The Lone Wolf's Rejected Mate by Cate C Wells. Another book rec from a moot that I devoured. Wells is a guilty pleasure, and this is my favourite of this series. Deals with trauma, mind the content warnings, Darragh has my heart.

@monstersandmaw - Gabe and Odessa, complete, full novel. I cannot tell you how many times I've read this story. It's a comfort read okay. Slow burn. Odessa, lawyer, escaping the city, moves into a small cabin in the woods and meets Gabe, a park ranger, with more to him than it seems. Just a beautiful story.

@snowkissedmonsters - Candy and the wolves. Explores poly dynamics between a wolfpack and the human waitress Candy who is their mate. Gorgeous art to accompany it too!

We just met Marc Evan Jackson (Parks and Rec, Brooklyn Nine Nine, The Good Place, etc)! He complimented our Parks and Rec shirts! He's so nice and sweet and ugh this was so amazing!!!

We got to actually talk to him for a few min, and he mentioned that he still remembered the long ridiculous name of the law firm his character works for on Parks and Rec, and mentioned he was just at a Table Read for a new Ted Danson show and the room made him recite it 🤣🤣

I don't see other Authors/Writers as my competition. I see them as my extended family and I want to see them WIN. I want to help build them up and give them a sense of community. We should ALL be supporting one another and helping each other up the damn mountain instead of stepping on each other to possibly advance a few feet. King of Hell by Morgan Dante Release date: October 17, 2023

I very much enjoyed this book. It's written in what I think is Victorian English in some parts and in 3rd person, but it didn't take me long at all to get used to it. I giggled, sighed and had an occasional angry outburst. I love when books make me FEEL! Keep reading for the blurb if you love M/M paranormal romance with a road trip, found family, villain/villain, and an HEA. It is a standalone.

Laurențiu, a vampire staked by his ex-lover's husband, only craves one thing: revenge. In Hell, as a courtier for one of the kings of Hell, he's consumed by it and willing to make a deal to kill the man, Anthony, who turned him into a vampire and abandoned him.

Paimon, the titular King of Hell, really doesn't take much seriously and tries to have some fun, often content with opulence and debauchery. However, growing bored with his repetitive life, he agrees to help his vampire find and kill Anthony. Trouble is, the Earth itself is a zombie-ridden hellscape, and they undergo a road trip where they're confronted by "reanimated persons" and hostile mortals alike. Find it here!

Let's Talk About Gargoyles!

If you’re an American of a certain age you probably rushed home after school to watch a TV show called GARGOYLES. It had half the Star Trek TNG cast as voice actors and featured a Latina detective in New York City trying to stop crime and not catch feelings for a gargoyle named Goliath. There was probably a crossover episode with the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles or the X-Men at some point.

But, despite what you might think if you were educated in the USA in the 1990’s, that’s not the origin of gargoyles.

As for the shape-shifting legends, that was cemented in the public imagination by 640CE with the legend of a French monster that flew around, spat fire, and generally did draconic damage before being stopped by the Bishop of Rouen (who later was sainted by the Catholic church for this feat of daring).

To absolutely no one’s surprise, Europeans were not the only ones fond of adorning their churches, houses, and other buildings with fierce protectors. In Korea (Republic of Korea/South Korea) you will often see gargoyles. Some of them are the classic water-spigot gargoyles (look for them on old bridges) and some are more like the guardian monsters you think of from cartoons.

Over the next couple of weeks I’m going to be talking about gargoyles, the history of Korea, and all the little bits of living abroad that wound up in ALL I WANT FOR CHRISTMAS IS A GARGOYLE.
