12.2.23 (SBLVII - Chiefs v Eagles)
Josh and I had our first proper SB bash since 2019, and celebrated in style; we started with our own take on a tailgate party in the park, where we demolished assorted (Kansas) BBQ along with a twice-baked potato/cheese/bacon dish that I made - which got my vote for MVP.
Further treats and entertainment followed, including my kinder chocolate (Philly) cheesecake, which I instantly regretted pouring extra cream over! Unusually for us we had plenty of surplus left over, but there are positives - I'm looking forward to trying thrice-baked potato/cheese/bacon!
By the time the showpiece itself kicked off, the idea of running at all made me feel a bit nauseous, but it didn't stop me enjoying a thoroughly absorbing game. This was of course easier as a neutral spectator, but even more so given there was neither a Patriot nor a Brady in sight.
Despite being a neutral I was rooting for the Eagles, and even picked them to win beforehand (along with plenty more equally inaccurate predictions - see below). But I was not foolish enough to ever count KC out, and Philly couldn't quite land a decisive blow. Thus, in slightly New England-y fashion the Chiefs fought back to snatch it right at the end (assisted in part by a rather fortuitous holding call).
