"So, this is where the hell you've been hiding?"
His voice tore through the midday stillness like a blade, equal parts raspy and gruff. He sounded irritated and mildly fatigued. Not that Katsuki Bakugou would ever admit to being anything less than a hundred and ten percent. He climbed off his steed, heavy boots crunching under the weight of his feet, and secured his horse against the stump you were leaning on.
You flipped the page of your book, not sparing the man even a cursory glance. You would prefer to keep your attention occupied by fictitious worlds, warriors, and battles fought in the name of love and justice.
It was much easier to allow yourself to become the bearer of fictional hardships, because at least they could be solved through a well-constructed plot with each turn of a page, as opposed to the realities of your actual life, a slow spiraling disaster in comparison.
Bakugou stood in front of you, vein ticking on his throat with every clench of his jaw. His arms were crossed tight over his chest, red gaze pinned on your hunched form. He wasn't at all the kind of person anyone could easily ignore. His very presence demanded attention and drew eyes like a magnet.
Case in point, no matter how much you tried to ignore him, you simply couldn’t.
"Please tell me you aren't going to stand there the entire time. Take a hint will you." You went to turn another page, but Bakugou reached over and snatched the book from your hands with deft fingers and speed you couldn't hope to match.
"Give. It. Back."
"Nah, I don't think I will just yet." He sneered, thumbing through the pages. "I was told to bring your dumbass back to the estate, so that's exactly what the hell I'm 'bout to do."
You blew a puff of air from your lips, eyes blazing with a kind of defiance that only burned harder the more you glared at him. "Then I guess you'll just have to drag me back kicking and screaming."
Bakugou only smirked, teeth spread in a feral grin that sent a chill down your spine.
That had always been his intention.
Almost an hour later, you stood before your parents, clothes dusty, creased, and smudged from having been manhandled like a sack of flour before promptly dumped in front of your waiting audience.
A frown marred your delicate features as they began their lecture.
Your mind drifted elsewhere the more they reminded you of your lineage and that you were royalty and how it was imperative you behave as such. You’d heard it all before, known this for as long as you could remember. As the King and Queen of your home country, your parents never failed to emphasize the importance of keeping your every move in check because of the reputation you had to uphold.
Katsuki stood somewhere behind you, and although he stayed mostly silent, you could almost hear him grinding away at his molars. The King and Queen were taking turns subtly digging into him as well, implying that his incompetence was a stain upon the royal guard perfect record of achievements. If he couldn't keep you in line, what was the point of holding rank?
They annoyed him way more than they did you, but he dare not voice it, not if he wanted to keep his head attached to his shoulders. Far be it from him to send himself to the guillotine
You both were in for a long night.
“Honestly, this kind of behavior is unbecoming of someone of your status. What will our countrymen think if they see you roaming about unattended like a vagabond?” Your father stroked his beard as if waiting for a response. But everyone in the room knew he really just liked to hear himself talk.
He was no better than a machiavellian swindler in expensive robes. A puppet if you would.
The real leader of the land was your mother. After all, she had only married into the family, having been the daughter of a mere advisor with no royal blood. She spoke little, but her glare was more than enough to convey just what she was thinking.
By the end of the lecture, you felt like all of your energy had been sapped from you, but thankfully your parents left you to retreat into your bedroom for the remainder of the day. Bakugou escorted you, following close behind.
“You’re gonna do it again, aren’t ya?”
You paused, foot nearly catching against the carpeted floors of your bedroom. Fiddling with a piece of your hair, you shrugged. “...maybe.”
“You’re a huge idiot.” Bakugou shook his head with a low laugh.
A tiny smidgen of a grin danced on your lips as you considered him. He was your childhood friend. No one knew you better than he did. And he was also the guard most assigned to watch over you and keep you safe from harm.
Despite that, you’d come to notice how much he’d changed. He wasn’t the same Katsuki you grew up knowing and you missed him dearly. Occasions like this, where a part of his guard was let down, were becoming few and far between. There had to be something you could do.
“Let’s make a wager. If you can manage to find me, I’ll do one thing at your command.”
“Challenge accepted.” He reached into the folds of his uniform, pulled out your little novel, and slapped it right into your open palm. "No matter where you run off to, I'll find ya. Trust me on that, princess."
His eyes were like candles in the night, ignited by a spark of passion. Not a single lie could be detected.
"I won't make it easy on you, Katsuki, just so you know."
"Heh, you better not." He sniffed, tucking his hands into his uniform pockets. And with a final half-wave, he was gone.
In and around the capital city, winter had completely lost it's bite. The weather was tepid, swinging a mild breeze that coasted through the countryside. It was the sort of winter where one felt as if woolen clothing were worn more for comfort than necessity. In what should have been the chilliest part of the year, Bakugou found himself traversing one of the many beaches that hedged the southern peninsula.
After a full week following the challenge issued in your bedroom, Bakugou realized you were entirely too good at evading him or any of the other guards at the kingdom’s disposal, for that matter.
Day in and day out, he spent his shifts searching tirelessly for you, just to stumble upon you in the most random of places and only when you had wanted him to find you. The running score was six to five in your favor, but he was determined not to lose to you again.
And there you were, standing at the very edge of the shore, as if a mere thought had manifested you right before his very eyes. Your loose billowing dress of soft satin waved to him like a white flag of surrender in the air. He'd finally found you.
"Not gonna run off this time?"
"Nope! You won this round." Your cheeks creased in a smile.
Given the boots he'd worn, it was no surprise that his feet kept sinking into the sand. You said nothing as he toed off his shoes and socks, bare feet settling into the depths of warm, grainy sand.
He couldn’t help but feel more relaxed. Over the past few months, he’d found himself losing sight of his goals, caught in the dredges of the mundane and routine.
The cool waters lapped at both his and your feet, fizzing and bubbling, leaving behind traces of salt. You went further into the water’s touch, your back to him as the tides licked at the your calves. Even he had to admit, the view was a beautiful one, possibly even more so with you against the backdrop.
“I’m glad you found me,” you called over the cry of seagulls. “For a second, I was worried you’d lose this round.”
Bakugou rolled his eyes. “Tch, as if I’d ever lose to you, princess.”
“Naturally.” You laughed.
“What the hell are we doing out here anyway?”
He knelt to roll up his pants, a mere moment away from following after you like always.
“I... really just wanted to show you the view. Do you remember when we used to come down here as kids? Remember how we used to dare each other to see who could go the farthest into the ocean?”
Of course he remembered. Those were some of his most cherished memories of his time spent with you before duty to the kingdom took precedent.
You reached a hand out to him, an open invitation. “I just thought you needed a little reminder of what that was like.”
For some reason, Katsuki was determined not to meet your gaze, scowling at some point on the horizon, until you came over and nudged him with your elbow. “It wouldn’t kill you to admit that I’m right.”
With a sigh, he reached over and tugged you into a hug. You snuggled close to his chest, gripping the back on his uniform. It may have been your imagination but you could’ve sworn you felt the soft press of lips against your temple.
“Thanks... you know... for everything.”
Beaming, you leaned back to get the full view of his heated cheeks.
“Of course, of course.”
There was something earnest in his eyes that told you no matter how far you went, or however far you traveled, he’d always be a step behind you. It sent your heart hammering in your ribcage. You were suddenly all too aware of the way he held you secure against him like he would never let go.
“What are you thinking, princess?”
You blinked owlishly, taken over by your feelings and mumbling a hushed. “Oh, nothing.” The two of you were just a royal and a guard, bound to one another by duty.
If there could be anything more than that...well, only time would tell.

ㅤㅤ ↪︎ INTERMISSION: this is an entry for our server collab secret santa! merry merry christmas @dimplesum i hope you’ll enjoy my gift for you~ also, thank you to @imahoeforanimeguys for beta reading this :D
Tumblr media
[12:51 AM]
if there was one person who could understand neito well, itsuka kendou would say it would be you.
you have known neito monoma ever since you were children, maybe much more than anyone would, even if they were his new friends. no matter how much they knew him, it would always be you who knew him better, the best.
it was not because you were his childhood bestfriend, or sweetheart, or any of that sappy story seen in disney movies or romance novels. your and neito’s story is far too easy to understand than any of those for it can be summarized by the word “archenemy,” like perry the platypus to doofenshmirtz, or joker to batman, or maybe even conan to kaitou kid—yes, you were kind of addicted to that show for quite some time.
along with being neito’s archenemy comes with knowing full well what ticks him off and also what makes him feel pleased. basically, that knowledge became the reason why everyone knows you’re the one who has the better hand when it comes to neito in general.
so when did you two first treat each other like archenemies?
it started when you two were still in kindergarten, was it? you’ve known each other for so long that it still surprises you how you and neito still see and even talk to one another. you could barely remember how and when exactly the scene played about at that time, but there were bits of memories where it was him who started to get on your bad side. although on neito’s defense, it was actually you when you started commenting on his hairstyle back in the days. after all, he used to sport a straight cut of bangs back then and it was the very thing that got stuck in your mind and couldn’t help but let it out every single time you see neito’s face, no matter how much he had physically changed from the boy you used to know.
being neito’s archenemy consists of constant teases, banters, glares, smirks, and being scolded by someone—usually a teacher or a mutual friend of yours, which is kendou, since tetsutetsu joins into the arguments too, which leaves kendou to babysit the four of you.
it’s not as if you were always arguing or at each other’s throats though. people even say you two make a good team, but it will only lead to neito and you teasing each other on how the other is flustered by such a statement. you do admit that there is a wave of relief that washes over your chest whenever you hear those words, but you could never find yourself letting out that kind of confession especially since it would wound your pride, and boost someone’s ego—ehem, neito. you have no specific reason why it calms you down to have someone say those about you two, but it may be because it thrills you to have someone else tease neito, however it also gives way for him to tease you as well, so you have rather conflicting thoughts when it comes to that matter.
by the time neito and you had reached high school though, you knew something changed.
was it how the glares started softening a bit? was it when the bickers would shorten whenever one of you decides to give in to the other? people commented on how you two became more mature, but for some reason, you knew there was another reason why this came to be, something you dare not say nor even think about, not that it should matter anyway.
the knocking on the door startled you awake from your thoughts, suddenly urging you to stand from the sofa to answer whoever was on the right mind to knock on your apartment at half past 12, or wait is it 1 AM already? either way, it’s too late for anyone to try and visit you, unless it’s someone who has bad intentions, but would they really knock if they have? still, there’s nothing wrong to be cautious, especially during these days.
“neito?” the rush of words came out of your lips sooner than you had the time to shut yourself, it was also louder than intended that’s why the other person on the other side of the door was able to hear it loud and clear.
“(y/n)! you’re there, right? could you let me in? it’s freezing out here!”
“and why would i?” you retort back, already gripping on the knob to turn it and reveal neito’s figure right in front of you. “what the hell are you doing here? at this hour even?”
and yet, he ignored you, entering your complex, then pushing you aside as he enjoyed the warmth that your apartment provided, with you closing the door behind in order to give him a long, contemplating look.
he seemed like he came from somewhere else, considering that the way he dresses up for home and for outside activity were different and quite unique by themselves. you noticed it after a few times of seeing him stay by your apartment with your other friends, or when you all go out to shop, have a meal, or stop by some place itsuka had found. you two were always on the same friendship circle, you noticed, yet it had never occurred where you and him stayed in one place all alone, after all you two were considered as “archenemies” still, aren’t you?
“i’m asking you what you’re doing here, monoma.” you bluntly questioned, making sure to emphasize how you’ve said his name. whenever you call him by his surname, he and you both know that you were pissed—or coming to. and like any other time, he chose to make a comeback as well, just as you had expected.
“it’s freezing outside, (y/n), do you want me to die? come on, be a kind person for once.”
“i am a kind person, monoma, but as far as i know, you don’t usually barge into people’s homes at around 1 AM.”
he scoffs, still rubbing his gloved hands together, trying to warm them up from the temperature winter brought upon december. “it’s just 12:51, and you’re not just any people. aren’t we friends?”
it was your turn to scoff, bringing your grasps on your waist, leaning to the side as you raise your brows in utter disbelief. “friends? no we’re not, what are you talking about.”
it was the truth, anyway. even though you’ve treated him as an archenemy, throughout the years, you were friends with neito, it just so happens that you treat each other quite differently than most friends do, that’s why you chose to name it as a word that others don’t frequently use. who calls their friends an archenemy? probably only you, or some others too—maybe.
“hey (y/n), do you have any snacks, ramen perhaps?”
your eyes narrow at the sight of neito rummaging through your kitchen, already knowing his way around. how can you blame him when he had already visited the apartment a couple of times with itsuka, tetsutetsu, and a few other friends that you’ve had over the years.
sighing to yourself, you leaned to one of the counters as you watched him, now cooking not just a pack, but two packs of ramen—that was, mind you, yours. each and every equipment and whatever he was using was yours, and it should infuriate you, your mind tells you so. however, you just seemingly can’t.
“you should pay for those, including my gas, neito.” you muse to the boy, his back turned to you as he continued preparing the ramen that he was preparing for the both of you, the sight apparently engraving itself on your mind whenever you have the chance to look at your kitchen. what can you say? he looks good while doing stuff like these, and you wouldn’t mind having to see him do so next time, that’s if you would have the chance since you would bite your tongue before you could even confess about it.
“you know, i’m this close to thinking that you really hate me, (y/n).”
your brow raised, momentarily catching his eyes when he briefly glanced at you. “why’s that?”
“well for one, you’re treating me as some kind of enemy of some sort. we should be allies, you know.”
“yeah but you’re the one who always starts the argument first, neito.”
he chuckles then, leaning to the side as he sends a look to you, one that is glinted with slight mock and amusement, like per usual. “that’s because you’re so easy to rile up. you always have these puffy cheeks and narrowed eyes when you do,” he gestures to his own face and he suddenly laughs, pointing at you with a spoon. “-yeah! just like that!” he hollers, making your brows furrow even more, now glaring daggers at him.
“shut up.”
neito kept on laughing to himself and he only stopped when it was time to turn the gas off and take the saucepan out of the casserole, bringing it swiftly to the table where he lay it on top of a pot rest. it was also him who rushed to get bowls and utensils for each of you, which led you to simply sit down by the table, feeling a little bit awkward at how he basically served you and did the table for you. if you didn’t zipped your lips tight, you would’ve said how much you’d like to get used to this kind of treatment from him.
“what are you waiting for? dig in! it’s not like i put poison in it.” he chimes, getting his own part of the ramen and eating them in almost an instant that you were quite sure he must have been starving when he got here.
“what were you doing out, anyway? were you on a date?” the words slipped your mind as you ate, your eyes glanced down to the food, finding it difficult to look at him in the eye after such a question.
“hm? what if i tell you i was?”
you forced yourself to let out a shrug, still not meeting his gaze that was surely on yours. “it’s not like i care.”
he scoffs and chuckles—which was it, you have got no clue—one of the rare times when you seem unable to read neito’s actions.
“you’re acting like you do though.” he mutters as his smirk reached his ears, patting the chopsticks to his lips as he tried to intimidate you.
it was silent for a couple more seconds before you decided to break it, meeting his eyes with one of an uncertain gaze, almost wanting to look away immediately.
“why are you acting like we’re suddenly close, is this how you are after a date?” you questioned, hiding your hesitation by taking a bite of your ramen, letting its warmth travel down to your chest and your stomach, in hopes of comforting you in some way.
“you must be misunderstanding me, (y/n).” this time, his face was looking dead serious, no more smirk and glints of mischief by his irises, as if he had a change of mind in an instant. “i wasn’t on a date. i am on a date.”
your breath faltered and your movements came to a halt, the chopsticks and your hand raised on a level that left it hanging by the air, just like how the atmosphere stilled the moment you heard the words coming out of neito’s lips.
“what?”
“i said, i am on a date.” he points to you with his own utensil, gesturing for both of you. “we are on a date.”
“uh-when did i-”
“and before you react, i’m just here to clarify that i already know you like me, that’s why you’re acting like this.”
your mouth opened to react and retaliate, but you only looked at him in disbelief, watching his nose crinkle up in delight, the corners of his eyes curling as he grins, his hair slightly swaying softly at the smallest signs of his movements.
now he might be damn right that you like him, but it’s not as if you’ve realized it that long. still, your voice didn’t let you fight him back because he seemed to be enjoying his own bubble—one that he was gladly sharing to you right now. you’ll have to clarify his statement from earlier soon, but not now perhaps. because now, he looks so pretty with that smile, and you’d rather be teased than having to rid of a sight like that.

For the lovely @cocoacinna I was your Secret Santa!!!
I hope you like it ♡
I won’t say I’m in love // I. Tenya
Words ; 1.2k
Synopsis: Iida won’t admit he’s in love with his best friend [. ]...or will he?
Tumblr media
Being a best friend of iida had its lovely perks, you two could study together, train, talk amongst your group of more chaotic friends and ultimately vibe. Too bad for you, your best friend is also your crush. Being around Iida wasnt so bad for you or him, the two of you had a bit of a closer relationship than the rest of your friends. The only ones struggling were everyone else, it was so obvious that Iida like you, and vise versa but the two of you were so in your own worlds , scared that the other wouldn’t like the other that this painful push and pull went on for months going into the next school year, which in rinse and repeat fashion, carried over to their third year. Since then the two of you had grown even closer, having late night study dates together away from your other friends just because of that one question that made everything more confusing, or the times you two have been sparring partners and passed with flying colors, even in the classroom, if you two were partners everyone knew you two would be on top.
Still, there was this unique feeling between the two of you that both of you noticed, but ignored, just thinking it was from you two being best friends. One day when there was a cool down for work some of the boys took Iida while some of the girls took [. ] , splitting into two groups. “Iida, how long are you gonna do this?” Denki started as the boy gave him a confused look. With a sigh Deku picked up “Yknow..you should ask her out...I think she likes you too!” And with that he realized what the conversation would be about...you. “A-ah this is preposterous, shes my best friend and just because I’m fond of her means nothing about-“ before he could finish Sero cut him off “It’s okay to have a crush on her man, we’ve known since second year! I say take the chance hm?” With a elbow the group looked to the girls, [. ]’s face contorted into a laugh as the group of them talked about something other than what he was going through. “If this doesn’t work out…” the usual high spirited student president said as a hand hit his shoulder, catching his attention. A bright Kirishima gave him a thumbs up as he pitched in “Itll go well bro! Don’t worry okay?” And with that the boys called a meeting adjourned, separating as Iida stared at his best friend , the warmth in his heart feeling more heavy than anything. That night, going to his dorm room he decided to at least try to think up a plan
The next day going to her locker she found a letter hanging out, a small heart sticker sealing its contents. Opening it, she started to read
To [. ]
Its been a long road with you and me
But now I see we’re meant to be
I wish so to be yours
But alas, I’m scared to loose you for wanting more
And with that she was left confused the rest of the day. She just couldn’t get the thought out of her head of who wrote her the letter, no one acted strange, and everything seemed to be the same. Looking out one of the school windows as she waited for the rest of the students and their teacher to come in , she felt a tap snap her back into reality making her screech “I’m sorry [. ]! I didn’t mean to startle you!” Momo said , a smile on her face as she sat down beside [. ] who gave her a relief smile back “it’s okay Momo I’m just..thinking about the letter”Momo gave her an inquisitive look “Did you figure out who it was yet? Have any clue who it could be?” “Ah no..I haven’t. Whoever it is, they’re so sweet writing me this letter! It’s so romantic but..” she trailed off as Momo tilted her head “But what?” With a dramatic sigh she laid on the desk “I don’t have a clue as to who it is!” She sighed as the black haired girl laughed, rubbing her back “It’s okay dear! Soon they’ll come and tell you!” And with that [. ] couldn’t help the butterflies as she saw her wire framed friend, his smile giving her heart a squeeze.
As the class ended they were told that they were going to do another project, and as usual, her and Iida were paired together. “[. ]! Iida called as she turned around, giving him a smile as ran up to her and the girls. “I was wondering..did you want to get something to eat before we do our project?” “Sure! My room or yours?” She questioned “If you wouldn’t mind..we could go to mine?” He suggested, a light dusting covering his cheeks “Sure! I’ll meet you up there in a few!” She said as she left with her group, a light sigh falling from Iida’s lips. Feeling a hand touch his arm he jumped to see Shoto looking at him “ I guess you’re gonna admit to her now?” He asked. The navy haired boy sighed, giving him a nervous look “I am, and I hope that it won’t ruin anything..”
That night as others relaxed and some started their projects, Iida and [. ] sat in his room laughing as they started their research. Falling into a comfortable silence the two continued to write notes and cards until Iida shut his laptop, causing [. ] to look at him “Break time?” She asked as he sighed, taking his glasses off to rub his face “Of sorts” . Putting his glasses back on he smiled at her, taking her hands. Feeling her face heat up [. ] looked at him and rose a brow , waiting on his words.
“Oh [. ] , there’s so much I could say but I’m sure my note was enough” Hearing that it clicked ‘IIDA wrote my love letter??’ She thought as he laughed cutting off her thought “From your face I can tell you weren’t expecting that...I’ve loved you since our first year together and all this time I’ve held on to it , for fear you’d reject me. So I wrote a letter hoping to explain how I feel but...I’m still not sure of how you feel and-“ Before he could finish she kissed his cheek, giggling at his reaction as he stuttered with wide eyes “Iida I love you too….I’m so happy you told me..I’m happy the note was from you..I wish we could’ve said this years ago but I...it would never change anything rather if we do date or not..” she admitted softly as he smiled, grabbing her face as he let out a breath he was holding “may I?” And with a slight nod he sealed their relationship with a kiss, her arms coming to wrap around his neck and his around their waist. Unknowingly to the two , their friends were silently cheering for them outside of his room.

Midnight Sun
a/n: @uliscribbles HI ULI I'M YOUR SECRET SANTA 🎅🏾🎅🏾🎅🏾. I really hope you like this and I hope I did this fic justice,,, I'm still super thankful for what you did for me and I still have absolutely no idea how to repay you, so this'll have to do for now ✨. Enjoy!! 💞
Warnings: a couple f bombs, a smidge of harassment for like a second, and that's about it!
Word Count: 1.2k
Tumblr media
Being born into royalty has its perks. You gain the ability to get almost anything your heart desires. Growing up, Y/n always had this ability. Being the first born in a kingdom notorious for having gifted rulers, everything except for your soulmate was gifted to you on a silver platter.
Tumblr media
Waking up just after sunrise, you were greeted by your head servant. "Your Highness, we have quite the day ahead of us." She spoke, already helping you out of bed.
"Yeah, yeah. It's way too early. Please remind me why I had to wake up *right* after the sun?" You yawned and stretched, heading towards the bathroom where the bath was already drawn. Various different scented soaps and oils littered the bathtub.
"We have a lot to do. We need to maximize our time!"
"Mhm... Run me through the schedule."
Multiple servants were in the bathroom helping you out. One held your hair up and out of the way as you took your bath and finished up. "As you wish, your highness! First off we have breakfast with the queen and king, after that you have to attend the knighting ceremony."
"Is that all?"
"I'm afraid not, the ceremony is followed by a ball to celebrate the new knights. As you know, the ball will last until sunrise. Then, you'll be allowed to sleep in again."
You looked over at her in a way that just screamed "are you fucking kidding me?" She got the memo and laughed nervously. "I'm terribly sorry about this, your highness, but these are the king's wishes."
"Yeah yeah. Whatever. Help me get dressed please."
"As you wish!"
Tumblr media
You'd gotten dressed and had the ever so pleasant breakfast with your uncomfortably stuck up parents. All that was left at the moment was the ceremony and ball. These were always boring. You'd never managed to find any sort of enjoyment during these events due to the knights all being as equally serious as your parents.
You stood behind your mother as she recited the same questions to each knight and gave them their "knighthood". This process went on for over an hour until the final knight appeared. Now this one caught your attention. His hair was the same color as the sun with eyes as blue as the ocean. While the other knights stood with terrifying poker faces, this one had an easygoing smile and extremely kind eyes.
Your mother recited the questions and he all but answered enthusiastically. After she finished and he was officially dubbed a knight, his gaze landed on you for a brief moment, resulting in the small bit of eye contact the universe needed to send a sharp pain to your wrist.
Your eyes widened in the slightest as you realized precisely what that feeling meant. Subtly, you turned your arm to where your wrist faced you. There, as you expected, was the symbol of a soul match. A silver rose, etched right there.
You glanced back over at the knight, and noticed him smiling at you excitedly. It was like looking at an excited puppy. You smiled back at him.
Tumblr media
You hadn't seen that knight since the ceremony and the ball had started a little under two hours ago. You obviously searched for him but you'd always get roped into talking to some random prince that wished to court you for power.
"Excuse me, your highness, but I couldn't help notice how amazing you look." One of them purred, grabbing your wrist as you tried to walk off.
"Yeah whatever. Let me go, I have something to do."
"What could be more important than talking to a potential mate? I mean, our parents are talking to each other, gorgeous." His voice was like poisoned honey. It was sweet but you weren't stupid.
"Do me a favor and kindly fuck off. I'm busy." You hissed, startling him. Unfortunately, that only pissed him off. Before either of you could say anything, the knight from earlier had appeared in front of you. It was liked he'd fallen into your lap.
"Hello, your Highness. Is he bothering you?" He asked. One hand resting on the hilt of his sword as he smiled down at the prince. This smile wasn't like the one from earlier, this one held… sinister undertones. Thankfully, he shook his head and quickly rushed off.
He turned to you and bowed. "I know you had it under control, your highness, but I couldn't resist. I'm Mirio Togata."
"I appreciate the help, Sir Mirio. But I really didn't need it." Despite your tone accidentally coming off harshly, he just smiled at you softly.
"Oh I'm well aware, it looked like things were gonna get pretty brutal if he kept it up. That's a nasty glare you have there, your highness." He offered his arm to you.
You laughed a little and accepted it, leaving the crowded ballroom and heading toward the gardens.
"So you're the soulmate I never thought I'd meet." You spoke once you both were further away from the ballroom.
"Yep! Something told me that a major event -outside of being knighted- was going to happen to me today… even if you weren't my soulmate, just being able to see you in person would've been enough for me." He smiled, watching as butterflies fluttered around the flowers.
You rolled your eyes playfully at the statement. "You're too nice. Thank you, Mirio."
"Anything for you, y/n."

Two years after that initial meeting, you and Mirio only grew closer to each other. He showered you with compliments weekly, dedicating an entire weekday to just, absolutely showering you with adoration.
Your parents were your biggest concern, but surprisingly, they weren't as strict as you'd thought. Your father was content with you having someone strong and your mother knew Mirio's intentions were pure, so she trusted your judgement.
When the time came for you to become the next ruler, it was winter.
Snow covered the ground and snowflakes were still falling as you walked through the gardens with Mirio one last time before you were crowned.
"Have I ever mentioned how amazing you look in the snow?"
"Miri, you do everytime it snows."
"Good. Because you look amazing! Oh, speaking of snow, your favorite animal is a rabbit, right?" Not knowing where this was going, you hesitated before nodding. He smiled wide and picked you up bridal style, running off in a seemingly random direction. You held onto his neck for dear life, squealing at how sudden it was.
In a few seconds, the two of you reached the castle stable and he allowed you to stand on your own again.
"Miri, what are you-" He cut you off with a finger to his lips and a wink. You rolled your eyes but waited patiently. Mirio made vague hand gestures to the people taking care of the animals and they nodded.
5 minutes passed and eventually, Mirio was handed a cage. He smiled and presented you with said cage. "This is one of the newborns. She's old enough to be away from her mother, but it'd be great if you could let her visit every so often."
"I… I don't even know what to say…"
He looked a little worried, but it went away as quickly as it came when you kissed him.
"I'll take that as a "you liked it" Then?" He laughed, pressing a kiss to your forehead.
"Of course I like it. Thank you, Mirio. I love you so much."
"I love you even more, sunshine. Now let's get you back to your room before a certain worker of yours takes my head." He laughed, leading you back towards the palace with your new pet.

happy secret santa @peachyblkdemonslayer !!! i hope u enjoy this sndndndndnfn
they say if you confess to your lover under a cherry blossom tree on a friday, they’re guaranteed to accept your feelings.
midoriya kept that myth in the back of his mind as he opened the new pack of stationary paper. as he wrote,
“Dear Reyna,”
he reflected on his earlier years.
“R-reyna!!” he called out to her, as she exited her ending class. she turned to where she heard her name and smiled. “zuku!!” she shouted. she charged towards him and entrapped him in a comforting hug. midoriya felt his heart thrash and thump in his chest. he reached to place a hand on her waist but hesitated. she pulled away from midoriya and beamed at him.
“how were your classes zuku?”
he gazed at her with an unknown emotion. over the months they had got closer and closer but midoriya couldn’t exactly recognize what this emotion was.
But when Reyna pulled away and smiled at him with such cheerfulness, he knew what it was.
Love.
snapping back from his memories, midoriya noticed he hadn’t wrote anything yet. he sighed nervously and chewed on the tip of his pen. he wanted to make sure that he expressed how he felt as accurately as possible. he fidgeted with the pen in his hand and thought.
When exactly did these feelings come into fruition?
Midoriya knew that he had felt a certain way around her for a long time but he finally recognized it was love when he recalled that fond memory.
And now he knew what to write.
Midoriya began to write the first words of his letter.
“Dear Reyna,
‘We’ve been friends for quite a while, since the beginning of our days at UA. You were always by my side,
“Zuku!” Reyna shouted in as she ran into Recovery Girl’s office. midoriya felt his heart tremble when she used that special nickname for him.
“r-reyna! hey!! did recovery girl let you in??” he asked.
she huffed. “yeah she did. you can’t keep abusing your body with this quirk of yours, zuku. you’re worrying me.”
he felt his cheeks burn and avoided her gaze. “y-yeah i know, but I have to get better at using it reyna..”
a soft smile spread across her face. “i know, zuku.”
‘Always concerned about me, checking on me to see if I was okay everytime I would wreck my body. Everytime I would see you I got this feeling in my chest. I thought maybe it was because I was still getting to know you, because it’s been there since the beginning. But as I look back on our time together,’
‘I realized,’
Something fell on the letter.
‘It was butterflies.’
midoriya reached to his eye.
‘Butterflies because I love you. dearly.’
he was crying.
*
the sky was blistering with reds, oranges and yellows as the sun began its fast process of setting. midoriya sat underneath the cherry blossom tree with the letter tucked in his pocket. fiddling with his fingers nervously as he scanned for the recipient of the letter, his heart jumped as he spotted her. she was looking for the tree, and when she spotted it, she waved at midoriya with a smile.
that same smile he fell in love with.
she made her way to the hill that the cherry tree was on and took her time on the steep slope. midoriya felt his cheeks burn anxiously. actually, his whole body felt hot. he arose from the ground dusted himself off as Reyna approached him.
“zuku! what did you wanna show me?” her eyes shone with curiosity.
midoriya exhaled and shook his hands out to hype himself up. he took the letter out of his pocket and held it out to her with both hands, and closed his eyes shut.
he felt her fingertips brush against his hand as she plucked the envelope from his hands. she looked at the envelope in admiration. it was well decorated, and had a cute pink heart sticker sealing it. reyna peeled the sticker off and took the letter out of the envelope. as she unfolded the letter she began to read the first few words of it.
when her eyes reached the bottom of the letter her mouth parted in shock. her hands dropped to her sides as she stood there, staring. midoriya slowly but surely looked up to make eye contact with her and gasped.
“reyna why are you crying-“
he stared at her with awe. she was crying and smiling. she held her hands out, waiting for his to accompany hers. he placed his hands in hers, smiling back at her. as they both leaned in, midoriya knew this one thing was certain.
That she had loved him too.
