He is actively repulsed by the idea and Yana has shown this explicitly at least twice: once in the Circus Arc and again in the Murder Arc.

I know there’s a significant segment of the fandom who genuinely believes that Ciel wanted to have Sebastian to replace his dead father, but I disagree strongly, not only because of the above, but also because Yana has shown us that OC was much closer with Tanaka than Vincent.

Besides, if you look at the revisited contract scene from ch 138, it almost seems as if Ciel is not thinking of replacing Vincent when he makes the decision to accept Sebastian’s offer, but in fact is looking for a new protector to replace RC, his dead twin.

It’s impossible to talk about this moment without the gorgeous full-page series from the chapter.

Sebastian offers the contract. Ciel recalls his brother promising to protect him. He gazes out at his brother’s corpse and realizes that his only way forward now is through making a pact with the demon. His brother’s soul is gone already, as is his life.

So Ciel becomes his twin. He takes Sebastian on as his new shield for his revenge. Sebastian may be someone that Ciel relies on, but he is absolutely not his new father figure.

when the gang came together and root started taking sameen on missions, they spent more time talking, whether a steak out to gather information, or sameen is playing undercover with root's witty banter, tech support, and affectionate teasing, their relationship felt more comfortable. some sort of normalcy in their constant state of 'save the next person'

sameen is definitely more talkative, shooting back at root with silly responses, rambling on abt certain guns and how they work, yadda yadda. (root could listen to hours of her pretty girl talkin.) shaw was probably a bit more giggly as she took the tag off a new collar for bear. the boys being out on a joint number root comes over, offering bear her hand and sameen slowly puts her hand out to hold.. it's minimal and gentle. initating contact herself, but she allows herself this to satiate the yelling in her head that wants to have some sort of connection whether emotional or physical.

shaw let herself be vulnerable around root bc she trusted her. root started picking up on things that looked off. (plus, root played a psychiatrist for a while huh) I think she put 2 and 2 together, maybe nudging sameen that she knows and accepts her but won't go farther without her explicit say so.

sameen involuntarily regressed more after getting kidnapped by Samaritan, she didn't outwardly show it but they probably saw smth on her brain scans.

sooo somewhat controversial opinion but like...Daniel Craig’s Southern accent in the Knives Out movies really ain’t that bad.

especially compared to other ‘Hollywood Southern’ accents. (Think Foghorn Leghorn, like...a lot of the accents in Cold Mountain). the dude based his accent on Shelby Foote, a Civil War historian from the Mississippi Delta. and he gets the rhythm down pretty well? Basing this in part on having a whole lotta family from Mississippi (my mom’s from there and most of my cousins still live there) - this dude also incorporates pretty niche things like his pronunciation of poetry - older Mississippians tend to say something close to ‘poi-etry.’

Like I know it’s thick as all get-out and definitely doesn’t sound as natural as Shelby Foote’s own way of talking but Daniel Craig really went there in terms of aiming for regional specificity and avoiding the whole ‘it just h-ain’t been the same since the WA-UH’ Hollywood I ain’t never met nobody that actually speaks like that accent. Da Torino, e non solo, partivano spedizioni di studiosi per scavare ste tombe, tra la fine del 1800 e la prima metà del 1900 per scoprire e portare alla luce queste tombe ormai sotterrate dal tempo sotto strati di terra e colline, operai egiziani, all’epoca ancora di colore, non mediorientali, quanto ancora proprio africani, non so come dirlo, ma oggi quelli che ho visto (direttamente in egitto) e che ho conosciuto qui sembrano di un’altra razza proprio, voi non trovate? Scavavano tombe, le ripulivano, ne mettevano insieme i pezzi, mummie, arredi, gioielli, animali tumulati insieme a loro, sarcofagi, libri dei morti e poi una volta pronti li portavano in Europa per esporli. A Torino ci sono anche delle enormi statue dedicate agli dei egizi che sono state portate fin qui e tirate su, in una stanza ci saranno decine di statue identiche della stessa dea, altissime, enormi, come le palle che mi sono fatta a girarle tutte. Ad un certo punto, nella prima stanza c’è un morto (che stranezza) infilato in un buco e messo in posizione fetale, un morto in un buco, ma era un bel buco, con del terreno interessante, evidentemente un terreno che aveva delle caratteristiche particolari al punto che il morto dall’Egitto di migliaia di anni fa stava a Torino in una teca per il nostro piacere culturale. Del resto chi non si sveglia una mattina e pensa che è proprio la giornata giusta per andare a farsi un tour dei morti. Uno scheletro vero, di una persona vera, chissà chi, infilata in un buco. Bellissimo rega’, bellissimo. Poco dopo c’era questa mummia, nel senso di cadavere conservato dentro delle bende, di uno scribacchino, un funzionario dell’epoca, che è morto ovviamente, essendo uno che in un certo senso contava, lo hanno fasciato, inserito in un sarcofago con i propri oggetti personali, amuleti, che ne so cocci, cosette sue, calato nel suo sarcofago e via biglietto di sola andata per Torino, in una teca. Ci pensate? Io impazzisco. Sfilze di morti fasciati nelle bende, che sia chiaro, cambiano da epoca ad epoca bende e rito, ed è l’unica cosa interessante, perché tutto il museo parla della civiltà egizia come se questi avessero una sola cosa interessante e solo quella: il rito del morto. Per carità, ci sta, ma davvero il rito funerario è arte? E che lo sia o no, ammettiamo pure che lo sia, è davvero un elemento, un momento, un passaggio da esporre come se fossero numeri da circo? Che senso ha esporre i morti? E se non è arte, ma una componente di una civiltà evidentemente più grande di ciò allora perché incaponirsi sulle mummie? Vedete? Qui c’è una mummia col sarcofago. E qui un’altra mummia con sarcofago e col suo gatto, anch’esso mummificato. Certo ok tutto a posto, tutti tranquilli, hanno mummificato pure il gatto, oggi volevo proprio vederlo un gatto mummificato. E qui la sua sedia e i vestiti per la vita ultraterrena. E i due chilometri di testo del libro dei morti. Qui una coppia, era una tomba matrimoniale, due sarcofagi e due mummie yeah! Qui c’è la galleria con dentro le mummie di ogni età, vanno dai neonati fino ad alcune mummie adulte, ma se non vi regge lo stomaco potete evitarla, c’è un avviso prima. È vero. C’è la galleria che spiega come funziona il processo di mummificazione che in ogni caso è cambiato nel corso delle epoche e prima di entrare in questa galleria c’è proprio un disclaimer che parla di questo dilemma etico: esporre o no i morti? Io sono entrata a vederli, so che mi lamento e me ne sono lamentata tutto il tempo, ma Luca ormai è abituato e di solito ride, però la curiosità mi mangia viva e allora anche se non tollero la vista di cadaveri, di nessun tipo, e sono sinceramente sensibile al tema, sono andata a vedere le mummie dei neonati e no, il dilemma etico per me parte da ben prima della decisione di esporre o no i morti, ha senso certamente, dal punto di vista culturale, come la buona parte di voi direbbe, ma è anche vero che la maggior parte di voi attraverserebbe questo museo, e buona parte della cultura di cui siamo invasi, come un fantasma letterario attraversa i muri, senza curarsene e senza notarlo nemmeno. Quindi non venitemi a dire niente per favore, ok? C’erano gli animali domestici mummificati, i pet, gatti, cani, piccoli coccodrilli, uccellini, uno spettacolo raccapricciante, pareva di stare nel castello di francesco ferdinando in boemia perdio. Pare che, nell’antico egitto, ci fossero le bancarelle con gli animali mummificati in vendita, che magari se ti moriva un parente e tu volevi che un dio in particolare lo prendesse sotto la sua tutela allora lo tumulavi con un animale, mummificato in sacrificio, però il problema è che se non te lo mummificavi tu l’animale, è possibile che ti vendessero un fake, tipo come il mattone al posto dell’iphone e il dio col cazzo che ti tutelava. Succedeva anche nell’antico egitto, ma ste cose al museo non te le dicono, devi informarti ed è forse per questo che serve il museo, a traumatizzarti. Ovviamente gioco, più o meno, non è un posto in cui muoio dalla voglia di tornare e non ho un interesse così estremo verso i riti funerari in generale, né verso i cadaveri, però è chiaramente un’opinione personale. È ancora più controverso, a mio avviso, che quelli che abbiamo visto, essendo quelli meglio conservati e “facilmente” ritrovati erano in un certo qual senso quelli che se lo potevano permettere, che avevano soldi per un processo costoso, che avessero soldi per occupare spazi molto grandi anche da morti, che avessero talmente tanta roba al punto che valesse la pena di portarsela appresso in un’altra vita, gente che scriveva per loro lunghissimi testi di presentazione per il regno dei morti, il libro dei morti è una sorta di curriculum praticamente e quindi mi immagino che anche oggi noi stiamo qui a celebrare chi si è potuto permettere un posto nel futuro, quelli che si so fatti il sarcofago più bello e grosso, i vestiti dei tessuti migliori e la storia è sempre la stessa insomma. Fatto sta che se fosse come dicono loro, nell’aldilà noi saremo quelli co le pezze al culo senza uno straccio e decomposti per intero, loro invece c’avranno pure gli animali da compagnia e un curriculum coi controcoglioni. Chiamali scemi.
