...who
Tumblr media
(they are 3rd years)
◇loves to push her hair away from her neck and kiss it and her ears. loves to just touch her ears and neck randomly.
◇will grab her hair and make a makeshift ponytail while fucking doggy style, getting head, or kissing her neck.
◇wears black rings made of smooth, cold marble. found them at HT, along with an entire pack of over 100 rubber wristbands in all different colors with different sayings on them.
◇wears his hair back in a little ponytail sometimes (likes when she pulls it when he's giving her head❤️)
◇drives with his hand gripping the very bottom middle of the steering wheel. pretty ass hands with those rings and wrist bands👅
◇ is a total pokemon nerd. nicknames for each other : Pikachu and (fav Pokemon). played Pokémon Go religiously when it came out. plays all the games on his Switch. will definitely ask her to prom with a pokeball and roses. "I Choose You"
◇will finger her from the back with two fingers, rubbing his rings against her clit to get her super wet. pushes them insanely deep and cups her pussy with his palm.
◇has long thin fingers with prominent veins running alongside them. look pretty when wrapped around her neck or pushed to the hilt inside her pussy.
◇super supportive boyfriend. always hypes her up and does Tik Tok dances/trends with her.
◇makes sure she wears her bonnet before bed and will put it back on for her if it slips off during the night. 🥺
◇is interested in her hobbies/daily routines. will sit like a puppy and watch her apply makeup. never tells her she doesn't need it because if she wants to, she can and it just enhances her beauty anyway 💗
◇likes to play in her skincare products and then pouts when he gets told off
◇both are very afraid of the dark and he will panic despite having a quirk that can produce light.
◇gf hates horror movies and games, but plays horror games IN THE DARK then needs cuddles from her when they get too realistic and he can't sleep in his own room cuz he's scared.
◇gf will lay up with him all day while he plays video games with the boys. lays on his back, too and watches, even helps by letting him know where the enemies are that he can't see. watches his blind spots.
◇has definitely gotten head and then fucked her during game night with the mic on mute.
◇grabs her ass unconsciously out of pure habit. likes to press his crotch against it whenever theyre standing really close, especially while she's in her school skirt and no one is paying attention.
◇will put his hand up her skirt in the front or back when he wants some. pulls her to the locker room or utility closet.
◇loves to pick her up and have her legs wrap around him.
◇wears t-shirts, basketball shorts, socks, and athletic slides when relaxing.
◇dresses in mostly black and yellow. plaid, flannel, ripped jeans, cargo pants/shorts, platform Converse, Vans, studded belts, chokers, and bracelets. dangling earrings.
◇buys her cute jewelry and accessories (especially anklets, so he can watch them dangle by her ears when they're fucking). bought her one with his initials and a little lightning bolt on it.
◇has piercings; eyebrow, tongue, snakebites, tongue frenulum, septum, earlobes.
◇whispers in her ear "how do you want it?" before they start having sex. gentleman. 😌
◇sits in the nail shop with her and even helps choose colors/designs.
◇djs on the weekends as a side gig to make money and also works at Pizza Hut. she tags along to his gigs for moral support.
◇has definitely given her and her friends free pizza and will randomly show up at her house to give her pizza and other treats. made her a heart-shaped pizza on Valentine's Day and delivered it dressed as Cupid.
◇is very musically talented. can play bass guitar, keyboard, and drums. sings, raps, writes music, and of course dj's. can dj with old school turn tables. uses his MacBook to create his own mixes.
◇was actually very shy about approaching her at first. he flirts a lot but only to girls he doesn't really have a strong attraction to.
◇lets her paint his nails black. keeps them very neat and dies inside when they chip. immediately goes to her for a "fill-in".
◇dated Ibara Shiozaki and Reiko Yanagi from class B (not at the same time). neither relationship lasted long.
◇HAS BRACES. they're black. embarrassed of them, but all the girls in class say they make him look cute. gf adores them. punched a dude in the face for calling him Braceface.
◇plays music while gf sings. these sessions are usually late at night and are very therapeutic for them.
◇is sweet, kind, hard-working, loves his gf and spoils her and she him.

now that we have all 18 i'm posting my personal project voltage ranking :]
Tumblr media
PSYCHIC TYPE MIKU - 4/10 it's fine. its the closest to base miku of all the designs? like this is what i'd imagine if we got a miku collab in the newest games. nothing about ti really says psychic type to me though, which is why its low
Tumblr media
GRASS TYPE MIKU - 2/10 i hate this design. not only is it boring but i don't like the colours, i think it looks messy and it might be the style disconnect or the design itself but if you didn't tell me who this was i wouldn't think it was miku. a grass type cheerleader doesn't sound like a bad shout which is why im so sad it sucks
Tumblr media
FIRE TYPE MIKU - 5/10 . its just basic. it gets one point more than psychic because i have fire type bias but other than that its underwhelming. idk whats going on with her legs either? is it like exposed robotics? idk its just a miss for me
Tumblr media
WATER TYPE MIKU - 8/10 this is so cute. the water textured hair, the tan lines, the like lifeguard gear(?) and the pokeball beach ball? it all comes together so well. i don';t think you can really go wrong with a water type design? even if i don't love water types myself you can't deny their designs just come together
Tumblr media
ELECTRIC TYPE MIKU - 10/10 oh baby girl my BIAS i fucking love electric miku. shifting her blue accents into green, giving her a suit and making her a split-dye blonde were all such good decisions. i love the silhouette of the big puff pants tucked into the rubber boots and the suspenders with the lightening cane. everything about this makes me so happy
Tumblr media
NORMAL TYPE MIKU - 9/10 i might be going back on what i said with psychic miku but to me even though it's very reminicant of base miku, it works better AND does enough to set her in her own typing. the multicoloured accessories, the rings, the glasses and the body suit. if we ever did get a real collab of her in game i hope this is the direction they'd go
Tumblr media
ICE TYPE MIKU - 8/10 full disclaimer so much of this is just because im obsessed with her hair and suit combo. shes not outright evil looking like dark type but i still feel like shes a rival with a lot of power, anbd tbf a lot of ice type characters are made to be Icy in personality. my only gripes are the red bag chain and the open heels
Tumblr media
ROCK TYPE MIKU - 6/10 its fine! it might be because i dont like the colour scheme or that i'm not a huge fan of all the flowy fabric, (especially because it directly follows ice type miku which made a point to utalise the sharpness you'd associate with ice) but i just doesn't wow me.
Tumblr media
GROUND TYPE MIKU - 7/10 i really love this design, i adore the colour scheme and the cactus braids, i think she looks like a trainer you'd be ambushed by in the desert and the soundtrack would kick up and it'd RULE... my drawback is i don't think she looks like miku? i thought she was gumi at first and now i can't really unsee it. but eh im nitpicking
Tumblr media
FLYING TYPE MIKU - 5/10 again, i like it but its very standard for a flying type character. the cloud braids and the sheer sleeves are fun! they're definately my favouritre part of the design. idk why her legs are painted white, i think they look kind of silly and im confused about the platform sandles but other than that its fine
Tumblr media
FAIRY TYPE MIKU - 6/10 a cute miku design for a cute pokemon type, can't really go wrong with that. i enjoy that they didn't go lolita style with her, which i fully assumed was going to the case, but instead a gal type with the fake nails and pleat skirt. i enjoy that its a different way of doing a look for miku we've seen plenty of times before
Tumblr media
BUG TYPE MIKU - 6/10 i don't hate it! very simple but very effective. i like the segmented limbs, the insectoid braids, the wing bow that looks like butterfly wings. i'm just not super enthusiastic about the colours. maybe i'm just used to bug types being Creepier in my head so to just have her be cutesy is boring to me
Tumblr media
POISON TYPE MIKU - 9/10 this is such a baity designnnn the only reason i didnt give it a 10 is because i hate that shade of green but thats a personal issue. the plastic baggy shoes, the toxtricity, the mad scientist goggles and latex gloves... it all comes together so beautifully. idk if its like too busy or again, maybe i just personally don't love the individual colours used. i really hope elements of this design are used for a future character
Tumblr media
GHOST TYPE MIKU - 4/10 i honestly don't like this design. yeah lets make the ghost type miku... a ghost, and nothing else. i think it's really boring compared to all the other ones. the glitch element is really cool but that's... all thats going for it? the colour scheme is the same, the neon is boring and i think everything is very stylish for pokemon but idk i wish it was more unique
Tumblr media
DARK TYPE MIKU - 10/10 babe holy shit. this is a gorgeous design, i'm so happy they went an evil miku route with it. i was going to say i wish there was more red, and then i noticed the underside of the hat in the other concept so i'm happy. shifting the cyan to the bottom of the design is a really good call. she looks expensive as she should
Tumblr media
STEEL TYPE MIKU - 10/10 absolutely beautiful colour scheme, shifting everything to metalic shades of blue is perfect. i think it's my favourite overall. very strong typing without them just doing Robot which i assumed. LOVE the metal braids with the welded patches the most, and i jsut noticed theyre kind of shaped like leeks. the charm on the sandogasa and the arm/calf guards really bring it all together
Tumblr media
FIGHTING TYPE MIKU - 8/10 the black, white and orange is gorgeous and i love the splash of green connecting to sir farfetched. i'm just not inlove with the leg split tbh, i think if it was a cape i'd like it more. i think my main drawback is idk it doesn't scream fighting type to me other than it being based on the pokemon
Tumblr media
DRAGON TYPE MIKU - 9/10 AND IMMEDIATELY MY PRAYERS WERE ANSWERED. the cape really completes the knight motif of this design perfectly where i think the previous one lacked. the scale decor jumpsuit, the gauntlets and boots, the SWORD MIC and the tail braids. they really did keep getting better and whilst this isnt my favourite its such a strong finisher

[ Sour Twist: Party of Three ]
Finally finished the Refs of my kids! They ended up looking really good too, so I'm VERY glad I took the time to work them out. I'm putting the designs under the line so that it's not too long. I've never managed to do more than until now, so I'm very proud of my self for managing for three separate characters. Another part I was busy putting together is a bio and showing their pokemon Teams as I progress. I'm also Nuzlocking for this to make captures and battles more random. As I progress through the Rp and Nuzlock, I'll be sure to post Team Updates for each capture and so on. Since me and my sister are writing for the Rps, the updates will come once I post the Fics to read Course you can also see that stuff on Patreon early XD
Team Updates will be posted on my [ Twitter ] or my [ Tapas ] and the adults will be posted this Sunday the 5th.
Once the story is up for reading, it'll be posted here [ ScViNuzlocke: Party of Three ] which will hopefully be on a coherent schedule QwQ
Get early access to new content on Patreon for 2$
I had a lot of fun with both the posing, color schemes and designing the outfits. I had to make a lot of small adjustments to get everything looking right, and it was so worth it!
More Info on [ Tapas ] and [ Twitter ] I tried to make their uniform customization match up with their personalities too, as well as the kinda pokeballs they would be most likely to use.
Tumblr media
[ School Bio and Team ]
For Prima I tried to give her a ballet pose to show her love of dancing and the strong connection she had with her Partner PKMN Jeal Paul. I went through a few ideas for her outfit, but decided simple would be best, since she only dressed up for when she's going out to avoid having her pretty clothes getting ruined.
Tumblr media
[ School Bio and Team ]
I had alotta fun figuring out Sarah's color scheme in particular since I wanted colors that complimented the bright yellow I always use, especially when designing her work out clothing, and I think I nailed it. All the kids have the snap on skates ( gift from Prima's mom ) but I thought it'd be better to just draw one set to avoid taking up too much space.
Tumblr media
[ School Bio and Team ]
Zephyrs Driflim Coat! This was my favorite thing to design! Ghost pokemon have such great colors aaaaaah! XD
Zephyr's also the one who lugs around the food cooler since he's bigger, he's also usually the one to do the cooking and ect bc he's that travel member and he enjoys cooking. Also his ghost pokemon haunts her ball : P
N those are all the designs for now :3c

[Image Description: Ariana, an admin of Team Rocket in Heart Gold and Soul Silver, and her Arbok. Ariana is a woman with light skin, shoulder-length red hair, and red eyes. She is wearing pink lip stick and nail polish, golden rectangular earrings, a long white dress with black accents and a black emblem with a red "R" on the chest, and white knee-length high-heeled boots. She is holding a red and white Pokeball in one hand and has one hand on her hip, and is looking toward the viewer with a confident grin. Behind her is her Arbok, a Pokemon resembling a giant purple cobra with intricate black, red, and yellow markings on the inside of its hood. The background is the Team Rocket HQ in Mahogany Town, specifically the entrance to the Electrode generator room. The floor is made of dull tan tile, the walls are grey with darker grey stripes and attached white and orange lights, and there is a large metal door in the center. End ID.]
-----
“We can't let a brat like you do as you please forever. It'll hurt Team Rocket's pride over and over again. Making it lessen, you see. …So, it's time to finish you. However strong you may be, if the two of us fight at the same time, you'll have no chance of winning. Don't you agree? Hee hee hee! Sorry, baby. Now, get ready to be thrashed.”
More Johto stuff with some Rocket action! Ariana's a fun design, really love the addition of Specifically Named And Uniquely Designed Rocket admins for HGSS as the original version of the game sorely needed some more identity to the new iteration of Team Rocket. It was just grunts and unnamed admins, that's no fun XD
...hmm, I wonder if anyone is gonna notice at this point...or will I have to finish all the Rocket admins first... :3c

It’s time for a brand new talentswapped Myth for this Tuesday! Brimming with passion,  good sportspersonship, and boundless optimism, is Myth Anon, the Former Ultimate Team Manager!
———————————————–
BACKSTORY AND TALENT
In her elementary and middle school years, Myth had an unbridled passion for sports and athletics, despite her scoliosis making heavy movement difficult for her, and in her middle school years, she even managed to secure spots in prestigious sports teams. Unfortunately though, all those dreams were crushed once she reached her high school years, when a freak accident costed Myth her legs and thus, her ability to walk and run. But the optimistic Myth wouldn’t let this sudden accident qstop her, for she decided to switch her career plans from improving herself to improving others, and that was how Myth became a team manager. Renowned amongst her students for her optimism and motivational spirit, she’s able to turn a ragtag bunch of amateurs into experts within a single season. In fact, Myth even managed to create Lil’ Ultimates and Jr. Ultimates within her career. Now that she is in her adults years, she is currently working with high school athletes and even created actual Ultimate athletes thanks to her stellar coaching.
———————————————–
RELATIONSHIPS
Wyre Anon, Former Ultimate Lucky Student
As the reckless childhood friend of Myth, Wyre is always getting into all sorts of trouble and is lucky enough to get out of trouble, with the help of Myth. Unfortunately, when one of Wyre’s little shenanigans cost Myth her ability to walk, Wyre still feels guilty about it, even to this day, despite Myth’s constant reassurance. Wyre acts like a bodyguard of sorts to Myth, scaring off anyone who dares to pick on Myth’s handicap. Imagine Myth and Wyre’s mutual joy when Wyre was chosen via the Hope’s Peak lottery to attend Hope’s Peak alongside Myth. They both act like cheerleaders for each other.
Outfit: Bandages wrapped around her forehead, arms and hands, a green tank top with a darker green clover design, tan cargo pants, white socks and scuffed-up green high tops.
Anon Scar, Ultimate Traditional Dancer
Famous in certain circles for her dramatic stage presence and her beautiful dance moves, it was no wonder that Anon Scar joined the Hope’s Peak roster as the Ultimate Traditional Dancer. Myth may not be an expert in choreography, but even she can tell just how amazing Scar is at dancing. Myth quickly realized just how how seriously Scar takes her craft, underneath the whole “Queen of Yokai” schtick she developed for stage performances. The two girls quickly bonded over their motherly natures and overwhelming concern for others. Myth is currently planning on arranging an oendan group to cheer on Scar.
Outfit: A dark purple kimono with a red flower petal design on the bottom and a matching obi, flower decorating her side bun, white socks and brown geta, always carries a fan, has an oni mask on the side of her head.
Fusion Anon, Ultimate Gamer
While Myth normally views video games as health-sapping distractions for lazy layabouts, she can’t fault Fusion for his hobby. Myth noticed that in MMOPRGs, Fusion usually acts a lot like Myth in the game world, healing his teammates and sending encouraging words via the game’s group chat, and he acts equally paternal in real life. Myth also notices that Fusion gets very hyperactive and passionate when talking about video game lore. Myth thinks that if Fusion applied that energy and paternal nature to sports and had a proper sleeping and eating schedule, he could potentially be an awesome team player and a star athlete.
Outfit: Black and red headphones on his ears, a hoodie colored like a Nintendo Switch over a black shirt with the GameCube logo on the front, black pajama pants with a white stripe on each side, white socks and red slippers with Pokeballs on the front, glasses from original design.
Fusion Anon II, Ultimate Animal Breeder
As much as Fusion II tries to act like an apathetic and snarky delinquent and claim the scratches she gets are from gang scuffles, she is actually a regular volunteer at animal shelters and has a particular soft spot for cats, to the point of keeping a chubby black one named Cheezburger. As Myth eventually figured out, all of Fusion II’s snark and apathy are just a cover-up for her less-than-stellar social skills and desire to be seen as cool by her peers. Myth realized eventually that both of them have slightly-similar talents, with both of their talents involving caring for others: athletes for Myth and animals for Fusion II.
Outfit: A red shirt with a pawprint design on the front under a black sleeveless leather jacket, black fingerless gloves, brown cargo pants that hold pet care supplies, red shoes with a paw print design on the soles, scratched up arms and one scratch on her face hidden by a bandaid, sunglasses from original design.
Just Anon, Ultimate Animator
Despite Janon’s chronic procrastination, Janon’s fans claim that his animated works are worth the very long wait. Now this is one Anon that the normally kind and optimistic Myth has a serious grudge against. The lazy and cynical animator, who wants nothing more than to sleep all day long, would of course clash with the energetic and optimistic team manager who wants people to improve. Unlike the other Anons, Janon isn’t even trying to improve himself, and that just drives Myth up the wall. But Myth heard rumors that Janon has a particular soft spot for children, which would make sense, given Janon’s talent.
Outfit: A pink ski cap with cat ears and an adorable cartoon face, a white face mask with a cat’s mouth and whiskers, a blue denim jacket with several patches and pins over a white shirt with Mickey Mouse on the front, colorful pajama pants, pink bunny slippers.
Sparkle Anon, Graduated Reserve Course Student
Despite being passionate about both acting and puzzle-sloving, neither of those skills were enough for Sparkle to garner Ultimate status. Her rich parents managed to scrape enough money for her to take the test and get accepting into the Hope’s Peak Reserve Course though, and now that Sparkle graduated, she is currently chasing her dreams of becoming a top performer, despite her non-Ultimate status. Never before has Myth ever found someone with an even louder voice than her, but Sparkle‘s loud and dramatic voice made Myth consider starting an oendan group with her, and Sparkle was happy to oblige. Outfit: A white dress shirt and a sparkly pink tie, a skirt that matches her tie, knee-high socks, brown slip-on shoes, glasses from original design.
Egg Anon, Former Ultimate Princex and Wet Sock Anon, Former Ultimate Nurse
Egg is the current crowned princex of Desruc, a cursed locale in the middle of nowhere, and Wet Sock is the skilled field medic and excommunicated/exiled-royal-twin. But it seems their inventive customs don’t cross cultural boundaries, for their odd idioms and sayings just wind up grossing anyone willing to strike conversation with the foreign and cursed twins. Interacting with the Freak Twins may be internally painful for Myth, but she managed to power through and found out that the two are surprisingly caring, despite what their cursed dialogue would suggest, with Wet Sock being especially maternal in particular.
Egg’s Outfit: A green gakuran with golden details and shoulder pads, a red feather cape and matching earrings.
Wet Sock’s Outfit: A ragged black gakuran with blue details and shoulder pads marked with a Red Cross design, a black cape and hood.
Curious Anon, Jr. Ultimate Swordfighter
As the adopted child of a yakuza family and the loyal bodyguard of a yakuza heiress, Curious has been raised with one and only goal and purpose in mind: prevent Young Mistress Iris from ever getting harmed by foes. Just like with the other athletes on the Kibo-Con roster, Myth feels her maternal instincts kick into overdrive when she’s training them, probably helped by Curious being the youngest of the athlete roster. Despite being famed by Iris’s rivals as an emotionless brick wall, Curious is surprisingly impressionable and gullible, probably due to his less-than-stellar upbringing as a servant.
Outfit: Hair in a small ponytail, a black t-shirt and a red tie with Iris’s family logo on the front, black pants, always carries their sword in a black and red scabbard, shoes from original design.
Anon Nerd, Former Ultimate Musician
Famous for his loud vocals, his vulgar lyrics, and the pessimistic worldview of his lyrics, Nerd is the head of the infamous metal band, “DEBATE”, a band intent on showing people just what’s wrong with the world we live in, using nothing but the bare-bone facts. Just like with Janon, Myth has some serious beef with Nerd, thanks to their conflicting worldviews. Myth can’t stand Nerd’s constant and vehement negativity, and Myth’s stubborn optimism just nauseates Nerd. They get into regular shouting matches, that always have to be mitigated by the Brain Cells, much to the irritation of said Brain Cells.
Outfit: Wilder hair that covers his left eye and hides his scouter, a spiky black leather jacket over a white turtleneck, a red and black guitar slung over his back, black polished nails, torn black pants, spiky black boots.
Eldritch Anon, Ultimate Gymnast
Originally from the wrong side of the tracks, Eldritch taught himself parkour and gymnastics to avoid both muggers and bullies. Eldritch’s small and light form makes executing high-flying flips and rolls a cinch for him. Despite having never entered a single competition, talent scouts have noticed Eldritch’s mad parkour skills. Myth really wants to train this young athlete to his full potential, but for some reason, Eldritch shows a vehement distrust for just about everybody, and given his backstory, who can blame him? But Myth is determined, and she will show the tiny gymnast that people can change and are worth trusting.
Outfit: A black tanktop, a camo jacket tied around his waist, blue jeans, black ankle socks, white and blue sneakers.
Dream Anon, Ultimate Mechanic
Despite motorcycles being her main speciality, Dream can fix just about any mechanical device you throw at her, with her signature sunny smile. Despite not being an athlete, Myth quickly established Dream as one of her all-time favorites of the Kibo-Con roster. Dream and Myth quickly bonded over their overly optimistic and energetic personalities, and the two girls act like each other’s cheerleaders. Dream seems to show fascination with the mechanics of Myth’s wheelchair, and yearns to tune it up and soup it up with some rocket boosters or something, and Myth surprisingly doesn’t mind.
Outfit: A blue bandana wrapped around her head, a black tank top, orange and oil-stained gloves, a pink jumpsuit tied around her waist, an orange tool belt, tall black boots.
Iris Anon, Jr. Ultimate Yakuza
When Myth first found out that she was going to be chaperoning the heiress of one of the most dangerous yakuza families in all of history, she was prepared to be on her beat behavior, lest the heiress calls her folks to feed Myth to the fishies. But as it turns out, Iris is really friendly and superbly optimistic, despite what her upbringing would suggest. Iris is up there with Dream in Myth’s favorites list, and for the exact same reasons. But as it turns out, for all of her optimism, Iris is also really clumsy and falls, trips and bumps her head all the time. Myth is currently working on improving Iris’s balance and coordination.
Outfit: An entirely black gakuran with a red ribbon and her family logo in the form of a badge, black stockings and red shoes, glasses from original design.
Purple Anon, Ultimate Chef
Purple commonly cooks and caters for fancy high-class banquets, and her food is beloved by every upper-crust family that she serves. Purple’s work is commonly behind-the-scenes, and for good reason, because Purple is supremely timid, and often hides behind bigger Anons, when not in the kitchen. Purple is Myth’s go-to-Anon when it comes to nutritional advice, even if Myth needs help translating Purple’s overly-formal dialogue. Sometimes, when Myth is off to train her students, Purple stocks Myth up with crudités or finger sandwiches to give to the young athletes, in between or after practice.
Outfit: A white chef’s top with a purple cravat, black pants, shoes and beret from original design.
This series centers around an optimistic and hot-blooded team manager, trying to train her con-mates into only the best versions of themselves, and battling a couple of Negative Nancies (read: Nerd, Janon and Eldritch) in the process.
——————————————————-
APPEARANCE
Myth has shoulder-length brown hair with an ahoge on top and black sports glasses. For her clothes, Myth wears a red and cream colored tracksuit over a white tanktop, and matching high tops. Around her neck is a red megaphone, a golden whistle, and a golden necklace with resin in the middle that is colored like the bisexual flag.
——————————————————-
PERSONALITY
Myth carries herself with a loud voice and motivational words. Myth might just be one of the most optimistic people in the entirety of the Kibo-Con, for she can find the good points in just about anybody, and knows exactly how to weed the good points out of them. Despite being confined to a wheelchair, she has energy that is very contagious, which assists her in pumping up her students. But for all of her optimism towards other people, she doesn’t quite feel the same way about herself, feeling like the accident squandered her own potential and she advances other people’s development at the cost of her own. But Myth refuses to be seen as weak, so she never opens up about her actual feelings.
——————————————————-
I hope you like this talentswap, and please let me know what of this Myth! Don’t forget to watch out for brand-new content from yours truly!

The GameCube used to be my favorite console from Nintendo, no questions asked, but I'm really starting to think that the Switch has definitely worked its way up the ranks.
Tumblr media
Easily customizable, the fun skin options to really make the system your own unique style or interests. My Joy-Cons have acrylic shells to keep me from scratching them, and it adds a little extra bulk to the grips in the back.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I just bought a charger stand from the Nintendo website to let me tilt at a better angle than the kickstand and allow for charging when out of the dock, since I like to set up near the couch at the side table while my Mom watches TV. This a nifty little gadget; I can keep power flowing during long sessions or when I set the system aside during the day before I remember to put it back in the dock, and it folds up really small when not in use, which is good considering I don't really like bully peripherals I can't travel with (I'm also slowly working on downsizing on my childhood stuff that I don't use anymore, so replacing a bulk amount of kids' toys with a new "big kid toy" sounds like a nice incentive)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I also love the Pokeball Plus, and my new controller I got for Christmas (it's Animal Crossing inspired, and it's really good and responsive, but the only real complaint is lack of NFC support, but it's really good for playing Smash Bros without me losing control of my character). The travel charger is cool, but I haven't been able to use it since I'd bought it before the pandemic hit, but it's there and ready for future long day trips in the car. I picked the one that looked like a POW block from Mario, because I thought it would be kind of funny that it's a POWer cord. :P
Nintendo really nailed it with coming up with a console that adapts to the user and offers a selection of peripherals that makes it easier to use it if you happen to have a few issues with general dexterity. My fingers aren't always very good at gripping, so I sometimes pinch the left stick with my thumb and forefinger to be more controlled, and having a layout and proportion size to the controls that doesn't cramp your hand while doing that is nice, even if they didn't particularly design it that way.
Dang, I just like Nintendo...

I think I’ve unintentionally gone and worried Marc that I’m angry with him.
He’s already apologized twice for his “stuff”, but I married a man who loves stuff, and he married a woman who hates it, and I’m OK with that. Which isn’t to say I don’t at times hate the stuff and wish it was all gone, but I’m certainly not angry at him about it.
I will admit that it does help when he occasionally looks at all and is like, “Wow, I really need less of this, don’t I?”  Those are exciting moments for me, to be sure.
I have quite a few things to talk about but I’ll save that for later.  I pored through the art supplies and culled another big pile, although there are yet more piles in the upstairs hall that will need to get stashed somewhere in the wings of the attic. It’ll all get sorted eventually, one day at a time.  Now that the laser cutter is in place I can actually start putting that nonsense away myself.
We’ve worked it out that we’ll divide the closet in the geek room into thirds, with me using the top and bottom thirds for storage (we can curtain it off so it’s less of an eyesore) and the middle third being set up to display his toys or other collectibles. The long-term goal, of course, is for the art supplies to slowly get winnowed down as I finish projects and sell them.
Ahhhhh how I make myself laugh.
We had a fun day out yesterday at RetroCon, although these are also the days that remind me I am slowly and gradually (maybe not so gradually...) losing patience for a certain type.
Look... we are nerds.  All our friends are nerds.  I love that about us.  But there is a type of nerd that my tolerance gauge has hit E on.
If you cannot get a haircut (or at least run a comb through your hair), shower regularly (WITH SOAP), and keep your nails trim and clean, please just... keep a distance from me.
One such dude was camped out next to us at the (standing room only) concert after the convention, wherein they tossed some Pokeball balloons into the crowd to bat around, and I had to keep dodging this guy’s arms and elbows as he wildly tried to swat the Pokeball.
YOU’RE A GROWN MAN.
Also, if you are six-foot-something, and you and your friends have just come from the Exceedingly Tall and Broad People’s Symposium, maybe don’t immediately park yourselves like a wall in front of people who are a full head shorter than you.  I don’t feel like I own a particular place in the crowd, but the constant, selfish jockeying for a better position, including people arriving late and sneakily trying to infiltrate into spaces that they have no right occupying, put me a little on edge.
Never mind all that, we had a great time.  The costumes these people wear are so, so amazing.  Sang our hearts out, all that.
I was a huge fan of Transformers toys and cartoons in the 80s, losing interest some time around when the post-movie series eventually ran out of episodes.  I had a resurgence in the late 90s / early 2000s, when I found a Transformers-themed MUSH and made a lot of friends who enjoyed roleplaying.
I had two OCs on the MUSH -- an Autobot named Flashback and a Junkion named Muse.  I likely would have had a ton more, but it was exceptionally difficult to get applications approved.
(Out of curiosity I checked to see if the MUSH was still alive, but it looks like it closed its doors in the early part of this year after a long period of inactivity).  Last time I logged on as a guest at TLK MUCK there were zero connections.
I was just talking on Facebook about the MUCK I started to build and wiz based on Disney’s Gargoyles cartoon.  I need to sit down and roughly sketch out the OC I’d created for it, as well as Flashback.  Freshen up their designs, just for fun.
Speaking of art, while at RetroCon Marc and I stumbled upon the booth of an artist named Mark Watts.  He was the one who did all the original box art for the Transformers toy line!  We spent a good twenty minutes chatting with him, and ended up buying this really neat art frame that transforms (really!) into a table.  It came with three prints of his original work, plus he threw in one of the Transformers prints as well. It turns out his wife is a writer, and possibly interested in publishing her work, so at his request I dropped him a line so I can chat with her about those things.  Just a super nice guy, and he only lives about 20-30 minutes from us to boot. Who knew? This morning we had bagels and coffee, and I sprayed down the thistle with vinegar again.  I need to get out to Agway and see if they have a higher concentration, maybe that will do the trick.  Tonight, Quorn roast and mashed potatoes, and hopefully the temperature will come down again to make a nice cup of coffee seem like not a terrible idea.

E3 2019 Nintendo Direct - BREAKDOWN
Oh wow. That big ol direct sure was something. So now I’m here to break down everything that happened in unnecessary fashion and give my personal reaction to everything that happened with my tried and true Excitement Rater. Want to see my heavily scientific and not at all arbitrary process? Then click down to see the deets.
Tumblr media
Before we kick off my (very very scientific) breakdown of this year’s packed direct, I thought I’d briefly go over how I rate things:
A random string of letters/numbers = Immeasurable excitement
YEEHAW BABEY = Big excitement
Heck Yeck = Vague excitement
Yeah! = Not really excited, but still could be good
Sure, why not? = I’m more confused than excited but sure
Oh = The excitement isn’t there
Oh no = Used on the rare occasion I really don’t like what I’ve seen
The Hero from the Dragon Quest series in Smash!
Tumblr media
After a brief montage of some games that already came out I guess, the direct jumps straight into an ominous shot of World of Light baddie Dharkon, followed by a seemingly hopeless fight between Link and one very possessed Marth. Then the Luminary turns up gloriously on his horse. With all the leaks that had been flying around for so long, I think pretty much everyone had accepted the presence of Dragon Quest at this point and I was totally stoked when this happened! I love Dragon Quest! And my boi from 11 is here, along with a few other DQ veterans as alt swaps and a pretty awesome looking stage overlooking what seems to be the land of Erdrea and the World Tree. Now to wait until summer and hope the Smash team have some sick ass remixes for us when the time comes!
Excitement Rating: YEEHAW BABEY
Dragon Quest XI S: Echoes of an Elusive Age - Definitive Edition
Tumblr media
In a move that makes it a lil obvious that DQ’s Smash addition was more than a little commercially minded (not that I really care I’m still big hyped), a trailer for the expanded edition of the series’ latest installment follows. Seeming as I’ve already played this, I doubt I’ll be picking it up again but I still heartily recommend the game to any JRPG fan. Admittedly, the fact you apparently get to explore worlds from past games is pretty exciting.
ER: Heck Yeck
Luigi’s Mansion 3
Tumblr media
In a way I thought was surprising, Nintendo’s first proper focus of Luigi’s Mansion 3 actually took up more time than Animal Crossing, but I guess that’s because it’s further along in development. We now know that the game is set within a haunted hotel and had some new gameplay features shown off, including the various ways Luigi can succ a ghost. Most exciting I think for me was the various multiplayer aspects, such as the local co-op option to play as Gooigi and the seemingly challenge and minigame-based ‘Scarescraper’ which I think incorporates online co-op too. Overall, this is looking to be a creative and well thought out entry in the series and I’m here for it.
ER: Heck Yeck
The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance - Tactics
Tumblr media
A licensed tie-in game for a thirty year old film feels a little odd, but I suppose stranger things have happened. This looks to be a sort of top-down tactical thingy involving the various characters from The Dark Crystal and for some reason Netflix is involved, I don’t know, but I guess it could be interesting.
ER: Sure, why not?
The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening
Tumblr media
The adorable remake of this classic Game Boy title seems to be coming along great and this direct’s extended trailer gave us a good look at what we’ll be exploring come September 20th. The overhaul Koholint Island has had is phenomenal, giving us designs for Link and various other characters that we’ve never seen before and that makes this remake look especially unique. Another very exciting aspect for me was the dungeon builder that looks like great fun! You collect different dungeon parts as you go and then you can build and explore your own! Am I a goblin child or does that sound like the best thing ever?
ER: YEEHAW BABEY!!
Trials of Mana / Collection of Mana
Tumblr media
I’ll admit I’m not really familiar with the Mana series, but from what I was shown in this direct, it looks to be a fairly standard JRPG. That’s definitely not a bad thing, as most JRPGs are amazing, but nothing in this trailer really stood out and came into its own. That being said, the gameplay and graphics look pretty solid and I’m sure the Mana fans have been fairly starved for content for a while so that’s something to look forward to. On top of this remake/new game with the same title as an older game (I really don’t know), the Collection of Mana containing the series’ first three games is being released real soon on the eShop.
ER: Yeah!
The Witcher III: Wild Hunt - Complete Edition
Tumblr media
Following a few scattered rumours, we finally have confirmation that a Witcher 3 port is in fact in the works, coming packed with all the game’s DLC. This basically legendary RPG is not one I personally had a great experience with, but I’m sure a lot of people are gonna be happy to play this in handheld. I’d keep expectations tempered however, with the likes of Assassin’s Creed 3 and Saints Row the Third proving that these ports don’t always function brilliantly on this platform.
ER: Yeah!
Fire Emblem: Three Houses
Tumblr media
Yet another and probably our last Fire Emblem trailer was shown in this direct, giving us a better look at how the story might play out and what our villains are going to be. With most of the gameplay features explored in the previous February direct, it’s good to have a slightly better idea as to what’s actually going on in terms of story and, to me, the results seem pretty damn good. Definitely one to keep an eye on!
ER: Heck Yeck
Resident Evil
Tumblr media
In a slightly unnecessarily convoluted advert, we were given a two minute reel of two teenagers playing the original RE in tabletop mode in an abandoned house (??), along with the kind of less than exciting announcement that we’re getting the two weakest entries in the series for Switch, RE 5 and 6. I probably wasn’t the only one who felt a little passive about this whole thing. That being said, definitely not complaining about 1 & 4 being ported over.
ER: Oh
No More Heroes III
Tumblr media
After the very slightly disappointing Travis Strikes Again, I really wasn’t expecting them to drop a trailer for the series’ third mainline installment so soon after. What we’ve seen looks pretty much like classic Travis, with a smidge of gameplay seen that looks just a bit more like what we’re used to. Of course, with this being the first reveal, there’s still a lot to find out but this looks very promising.
ER: Heck Yeck
Contra: Rogue Corps / Contra: Anniversary Collection
Tumblr media
I’m not gonna pretend to be familiar with the Contra series, but this doesn’t at all look like what I’ve seen in the past. Honestly, this seemingly tactical shooter didn’t elicit much excitement from me and neither did its rushed character drops or its oddly rough textures. I’m unsure of actual fan reactions to this, but in my mind this one kind of sits in the ‘guess this exists’ category. As well as this, we got a shadowdrop for the Contra Anniversary Collection, whereas Rogue Corps comes on September 24th.
ER: Oh
Daemon X Machina
Tumblr media
In what seems to be almost a mainstay in Nintendo directs, we’ve got another vague trailer for this mech shooter that finally has a confirmed release date of September 13th. The gameplay looks harmless enough, with the mechs seeming to be a blast to pilot, but beyond that, I can’t really see a lot of substance that would draw me in beyond the cool robots. I’m sure it could be good, but not really one for me.
ER: Yeah!
Panzer Dragoon
Tumblr media
I was completely unsure of what this one was, but it looks a bit like a cross between The Last Guardian and those bullet hell sections from Kingdom Hearts 2. They’ve certainly nailed the smooth graphics and the cool looking creatures, but this one is mostly a case of needing to know more.
ER: Yeah!
Pokemon Sword & Shield
Tumblr media
This one’s obviously a title so monumental that it consistently needs its own directs, but there wasn’t any *real* news about it in this direct. We were given a brief explanation as to how the Pokeball Plus works in conjunction with the games (something to do with taking your Pokemon for a walk) and the fact that we’ll see more gameplay during Nintendo’s Treehouse streams. Still, excitement remains pretty high for these titles.
ER: Heck Yeck!
Astral Chain
Tumblr media
This game, to put it bluntly, looks awesome. The newest Platinum Games IP seems to be set in Blade Runneresque futuristic city with an alien threat and some cool ass looking fighting police people. Our second proper look at this game has cleared up a few murky doubts as to what exactly is supposed to be happening, so now we’ve got a much better idea of what this game is going to be. The story seems pretty full and polished, the gameplay looks like brilliant fun and I’m definitely not mad at the cool monster designs. This is one I’m definitely watching.
ER: Heck Yeck!!!
Empire of Sin
Tumblr media
I know very little about what this game is supposed to be, but it looks to be a 40s gangster XCOM, substituting alien fighting marines with gun toting mafia dudes. The trailer went for style over substance, giving us an edgy visual thing of some burning playing cards and broken bottles, but the little gameplay we saw looked decent enough and may just end up injecting more variety into this genre.
ER: Yeah!
Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order
Tumblr media
An obvious pick for any Marvel fan, this hack-and-slash is jam packed with various heroes and villains from the comic series’ rich history. Ghost Rider and Elektra were among those revealed to be playable, while the likes of Mysterio, Hela, the Destroyer, Doctor Octopus, Surtur and MODOK are seemingly part of growing cast of villains. Looks like a good bit of fun if nothing else, though the immediate presence of a season pass is a tiny red flag.
ER: Yeah!
Cadence of Hyrule
Tumblr media
In an unexpected but greatly welcomed crossover between Nintendo’s RPG titan Zelda series and the indie developed Crypt of the Necrodancer, a new rhythm based dungeon crawler with some brand new Zelda remixes and the presence of Link and Zelda as playable characters. This game’s retro graphics look totally adorable and the addition of the Gohmaracas were a definite highlight.
ER: Heck Yeck!!!!!
Mario & Sonic at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games
Tumblr media
Tell you what, this definitely looks like a Mario and Sonic Olympic Games game. There looks to be a decent amount of variety in terms of what sports are involved and with its online multiplayer, there’s no shortage of vaguely cartoon sportyness to be had with friends both real and virtual. I’d be lying if I said I was totally disinterested because it does look a bit fun, but we all know it won’t be anything groundbreaking.
ER: Yeah!
Animal Crossing: New Horizons
Tumblr media
In a fairly drastic formula change, Nintendo have decided to strand us on a desert island rather than move us innocently to another village, but Tom Nook is still here and oh yes he’s coming to collect his bells. From this surprisingly brief trailer, most of Animal Crossing’s core gameplay seems to be intact, with the return of craftable items from Pocket Camp, and the sudden bombshell that the game has been pushed back to March next year. Never going to be a bad thing if the finished product is all the better for it, but I guess that just means more info is to come!
ER: Heck Yeck
Highlight Reel
Tumblr media
In what looks like a list of honourable mentions, Nintendo gave us a laundry list of other titles coming to the system:
Spyro Reignited Trilogy is joining Crash on the Switch with his acclaimed remaster trilogy.
Hollow Knight: Silksong, the prequel to the original game, looks just as charmingly dark as its predecessor.
Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch is showing up I guess, but I’ll come out and say I know nothing about it except that it looks cute.
Minecraft Dungeons looks better than it has any right to be and looks a bit like blocky Diablo I guess
The Elder Scrolls: Blades sure exists and I’m unsure of what it’s trying to be, but whatever quells off the need for Elder Scrolls 6 I guess.
My Friend Pedro, another strangely unique title from Devolver Digital, looks like it somehow incorporates banana peels into its combat system.
Doom Eternal looks like Doom always does, but a distinct lack of gameplay may put its dual release with the other consoles into question.
The Sinking City with its Lovecraftian inspiration looks totally brilliant and looks to be a unique experience for sure, so eyes firmly open for this one
Wolfenstein Youngblood definitely looks all Wolfenstein-y, but rumours of Dishonored-like sandbox levels has definitely piqued my interest.
Dead by Daylight still looks unfortunately a bit eh, with its slightly not great graphical quality from what we’ve seen in the trailers.
Alien Isolation was an extremely odd one, but I’m not gonna say no to more good horror content on the console.
Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles seems to be continually delayed, but they’ll probably get round to it eventually.
Dragon Quest Builders 2 looks adorable and I’m very into the idea of Dragon Quest Minecraft, so sign me up.
Stranger Things 3: The Game looks a little more SNES-like in terms of graphics than its 8 Bit mobile predecessor, which is definitely a decent step. An obvious pick for fellow fans of the show.
Just Dance 2020 is definitely a Just Dance game. Yep, sure is. I even checked. And it is.
Catan is a tabletop game of sorts, but I really couldn’t figure out what kind from that few seconds of vague footage.
New Super Lucky’s Tale looks like Bubsy, but actually good and worth real money
Dauntless looks like a bit of a Monster Hunter clone, but you know, doesn’t look terrible.
And lastly, Super Mario Maker 2 was tacked on the end there to remind us all that Nintendo is taking our money in 2 weeks.
Banjo-Kazooie become Smash Ultimate’s 3rd DLC Fighter
Tumblr media
Just when we all petering out a little and the hype seemed all but dormant, they go and drop this on us out of nowhere. While I personally don’t have an attachment to the bear and bird, I’m fully aware of their significance and how much they mean to a lot of people out there. And that excitement ended up being contagious, so this fact coupled with a pitch perfect reveal trailer has got me hugely hyped to see these guys join the fight come autumn.
ER: YEEHAW BABEY
Sequel to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
Tumblr media
And now, dear reader, for the reveal that removed my scalp and cut out my eyeballs. At first, I was totally confused as to what this could be. And then I recognised the symbols, and then my perfect lil Hyrule eggs come on the screen and it’s all spooky and there’s dead Ganondorf and I don’t clock the fact that I’ve just screamed out loud. A direct sequel to my absolute favourite game of all time is happening and it’s real and I get to live another adventure in the best game world ever crafted all over again. I think it’s safe to say I have transcended the definition of hype when it comes to this one.
ER: AAA!!! AA!!! GFFGF!!! THIS!!! ZELDA!!!! HGGGG!!!!
So there’s my probably a little stupid breakdown of everything Nintendo bestowed upon us this E3. Guess I’ll jump in after the next direct to give you yet another heavily scientific analysis of its events. Or I’ll babble at you until I start punching the keyboard. Either way, happy trails my dudes. Don’t let the hype bugs bite.

Thoughts: “Pokémon Detective Pikachu”
tl;dr While nowhere near perfect, it’s nice to see this much effort and passion thrown behind a type of movie Hollywood normally doesn’t care about.
Detective Pikachu had a lot to prove coming up on its release. The curse of video game movies remains a strong and almost constant force among gamers and film buffs alike (Sonic the Hedgehog currently comes to mind). By creating a charming and beautiful world though and delivering a full narrative, the movie's able to get the job done for both fans and most first-time viewers. Although the former will definitely get more mileage out of it than the latter.
The visuals are all well-established and vibrant. When footage from Detective Pikachu first released; the monsters looked sincerely jarring. Many people seemed ready to watch the film for this aspect alone. After some time to adjust though, the Pokemon easily blend into our world. Every single design feels like part of the larger group. In an even greater surprise though, they're cute! They're adorable! Seeing them move around for a full film and more than a short clip, you can see how much effort truly went into making these things look alive and wonderful. Not one scene in this movie features shoddy effects work.
One aspect not made as clear in that early footage though, was the visual look of the world as a whole. Sharp edges and blocky buildings give a feel similar to that of the early pixel Pokemon games. Mixed in with the dark lighting and neon colors of a detective movie, the look can feel a bit unnerving and overcrowded at first. Yet just like the designs of the titular creatures, it's something you grow to love throughout the film's runtime. The visuals as a whole are truly unique and different. It's great to see a big-budget film with such a distinct look to it.
The two leads are also both great. Even though one of them is a yellow squishy monster, Justice Smith and Ryan Reynolds have a ton of chemistry. Both also seem to be having a ton of fun (something that a movie like this needs from their actors to succeed). As an audience insert, Smith had the very important job of making the film's world seem real through his reactions to it, and he nails that aspect of his performance. Sometimes an actor with a role like this will resort to just yelling at everything in surprise and astonishment, which is more the script's fault than the actor's. Yet for the most part, Smith shows a refreshing restraint in his reactions to the colorful and exciting world.
It's been said that Reynolds is just doing a child-friendly Deadpool impersonation, which is partially true, but it's also fair to note that he gets to bring much more emotional range to this character than most of his previous ones. There are some surprisingly heartfelt scenes between the two leads, and they always land due to Reynold's range and well-done motion capture performance. His quips may not do as much for him here as they do for his superhero counterpart, but they still feel organic and fun enough to not really hold the movie back. The filmmakers definitely built the character around Reynold's persona which worked out pretty well in the end.
Certain things keep Detective Pikachu from being anywhere near perfect though. The plot, while serviceable and surprising for younger viewers, won't do nearly as much for those attuned with common tropes and outcomes. The story muddles along hitting the individual beats you'd expect from a detective film. The pacing can be all over the place, with a few sections feeling almost unnecessary in the first and second act. The mystery gets stretched along with these pitstops pretty frequently. Certain characters come into the movie early on, only to not be introduced again until a random sequence more than halfway through the film. It feels more like an episode of Scooby-Doo than it does a true mystery at most points. The movie becomes much more interesting, if not outright bizarre, in the final act though. While not done perfectly either, it's certainly easier to give the movie more credit when treading that uncharted territory.
The world building is done mostly successfully. Viewers new to the franchise will have very much to be caught up on, and the script does it's best to do so. Although certain sequences may sound more like an unnecessary video game tutorial than dialogue (a certain Pokeball sequence comes to mind). Even viewers fully attuned to the Pokemon world may find some new concepts they need to wrap their heads around though, and the script does a much better job explaining those more complicated topics. It's also good that the filmmakers decided to add in these new bits to the mythos, as the film may have felt a bit hollow if it just played with already established lore.
While a fair example of style over substance, Detective Pikachu is a great first attempt to bring Pokemon to the big screen. It's also a breath of fresh air to see a mega-franchise movie that tells a complete and full story without setting up the next installment. Yet the world and storytelling options are so rich and varied with this franchise, that I'm very excited to see what's done with it now that the studio will have more faith in the IP.
p.s. I’ve decided to just call these thoughts from now on instead of quick thoughts because they are not very quick at all and rather long to be honest.

      HE’S SCARED.
FOUR LEVELS DEEP UNDERGROUND, THIS ROOM IS VASTLY DIFFERENT FROM THE OTHER ONE. It is small, cold, and dark. No windows, no lights, not even the faintest sliver of warmth or light slips through the tiny gaps in the room’s reinforced cell door. The door had no knobs or handles on it from the inside either. The only other opening is a small, locked slot door, only big enough to fit a food tray.
The only thing that accompanies him is complete darkness, and the metal groans of the deep basement. With 01 and HIKARI freed, he had hopes that they would soon come back for him, with reinforcements and allies in tow. He must remain positive, even as the darkness and isolation slowly chokes his mind.
THEY WON’T FORGET. OH, PLEASE DON’T FORGET.        but the circle will swallow that hope up.
The door slides open, and a tall figure steps in, prompting Kubo to slowly lift his head away from his knees.
       “ I HEAR YOU’VE CAUSED QUITE A BIT OF TROUBLE, GRANDSON. ”
Kubo is silent. Standing behind Raiden is his aunts, and three subordinate grunts.
“ JUST LIKE YOUR MOTHER TO BE THAT WAY, ” Chortles Raiden, hands interlaced. “ Your aunts suggested that you be properly punished for this misbehavior, but I thought, no, no, it’d be far too soon for that. After all, although its further imprisonment would serve to keep it from hindering our plans, the ALPHA is no longer needed. It has already served its purpose to us. ”
Kubo remains silent, but continues to fix an angered glare, challenging the elder.
Tumblr media
“ YES ... and then I decided a BETTER course of action. After all, we are so close to succeeding in our mission that we might as well prepare for it. And Kubo, I realized that you have provided us with a special little ‘ gift ’ that might just secure our goal all the more. Despite the setbacks, I believe with this you have ultimately ... redeemed yourself. ”
Tumblr media
His brow raises slightly, the slightest hints of a questioning look melding on his face.
“ COME WITH ME. It is time I showed you, grandson, how far we have come. ”
WHETHER HE WOULD HAVE AGREED OR NOT, they take him to the deepest level of the base: FIVE LEVELS BELOW THE SURFACE OF THE EARTH. Here, the hallways are substantially wider. The ceiling is taller. Massive rooms with large glass windows are found here. Unlike the levels above, it is brightly illuminated with fluorescent lighting.
Eventually, they come to a great hall, so big that a WAILORD could probably move around in it with ease. The walls are completely reinforced, secured by several layers of chrome-like material. Judging by the size, Kubo wondered aloud: “ IS THIS A STADIUM? ”
Raiden does not answer him. Kubo’s aunts and two of the subordinates file into a room with glass window, leaving him, his grandfather, and the third grunt in the stadium.
“ BRING OUT THE ULTRA BEAST. ”
Tumblr media
         KUBO FEELS HIS STOMACH TWIST.
From the other side of the stadium, the door slides open, and two men, donning strange suits and protective wear, emerge holding a familiar creature’s container. Within the hexagonal tube, HANZO has stopped screaming. The tube is placed on a sleek cylindrical pedestal, which drains the gelatinous fluid that had kept the KARTANA from moving.
         “ HANZO! ”
Kubo cries out to it, but he is held back by powerful hand when he tries to sprint for his companion, worry and anxiety surging into his gut. The grunt tears him backward.
“ OH, so you DO know this creature, do you, grandson? Even given it a name. I’m assuming you have quite a lot of sentiment for such an otherworldly monster? ”
“ WHAT DO YOU WANT WITH HIM, ” Kubo hisses, “ You can’t take him away, he’s too powerful. I’VE SEEN IT -- ”
Tumblr media
         “ 𝕂𝕀𝕀 - 𝔸𝔸𝔸𝔸𝔸𝔸𝔸ℂℍ! ”
HANZO SCREAMS, and flings itself against the remaining glass around the container. It’s handlers flinch as the glass cracks. IT WANTS OUT. They heard their boy call to them and they want OUT. Wretched BASTARDS --
The glass shatters, and Hanzo zooms across the stadium towards RAIDEN.
Tumblr media
Raiden pulls a ball from his hip. Its design was unlike anything KUBO had seen before -- a dark sphere, with ridges sticking outward on its top and bottom, and lines criss-crossing around it like a net.
           “𝐈 𝐇𝐀𝐕𝐄 𝐒𝐄𝐄𝐍 𝐒𝐓𝐑𝐎𝐍𝐆𝐄𝐑 𝐁𝐄𝐀𝐒𝐓𝐒.”
FROM THE POKEBALL, A LARGE CREATURE EMERGES. A HUGE BEAST, with a body made of steel and a neck as tall as bamboo trunks. Flames shoot from the underside of two pillar-like rockets. Her celestial grace is shattered by the sphere that contained her, cloaking her beauty with a dark and sinister aura. A FEMININE SCREECH TEARS FROM HER THROAT.
Tumblr media
        “ 𝔸𝔸𝔸𝔸𝔸𝔸𝔸𝔸𝔸𝔸𝔸𝔸𝔸𝔸𝔸𝔸𝔸𝔸𝔸𝔸𝔸𝔸𝔸𝔸ℍ! ”
HER CANNONS TURN AND AIM FOR THE KARTANA, and they fire. However, Hanzo is too quick -- the other ULTRA BEAST quickly twists out of the path of the blast, and the fiery blaze strikes the reinforced wall on the other side of the stadium, stirring up a veil of smoke.
With a screech of their own, Hanzo turns for her. The two begin a cyclic dance of chaos -- one that, much to his horror, Kubo is helpless to witness. Despite her huge size, the CELESTEELA is quick, propelled by the fiery rockets. But Hanzo is quicker and more agile. They could twist and turn much easier at high speeds than she, and thus she finds that her powerful strikes miss her foe to often.
MEANWHILE, Hanzo was landing as many strikes as he could. Yet, his blade, weakened from a lack of food, could not slice through the celesteela’s otherworldly metal. SACRED SWORD only left a few scratches and nicks in the other beast’s armor.
Their dance was dragging on. RAIDEN, seeing that neither creature had begun to tire yet, gives a subtle nod of the head to his subordinate.
SUDDENLY the youth is shoved violently forwards, and he tumbles to his knees onto the stadium floor, where the battle rages overhead. He doesn’t even have the time to bark back and question the sudden roughness -- it would all play out too quickly.
Tumblr media
           “ 𝐒𝐔𝐁𝐉𝐄𝐂𝐓 𝐔𝐁 - 𝟎𝟒 - 𝟏 , 𝐒𝐖𝐈𝐓𝐂𝐇 𝐓𝐀𝐑𝐆𝐄𝐓. 𝐅𝐋𝐀𝐌𝐄𝐓𝐇𝐑𝐎𝐖𝐄𝐑. ”

COLD AND CALCULATING, the ULTRA BEAST switches target as commanded, her cannons rotating away from the KARTANA and instead pointing toward the twelve year-old boy thrown out into the middle of the battlefield. Her body slowly twists to join them.
The coldest, most unsettling chill finds its way down his spine. Once a proud, strong and confident young man. Now here he was, a CHILD, rendered defenseless and feeble. His eye gapes as the last of his bravado is stripped away -- he now stares 𝐃𝐄𝐀𝐓𝐇 in the face.
Tumblr media
THE FLAMES BUILD IN HER ROCKETS WITH A ROAR, like a ferocious beast about to strike. Her foe -- the noble warrior -- notices. There is death -- it bares its fangs at their RED ONE again. 𝑵𝑶 -- they can’t let it happen again! HANZO rockets toward, speeding like a bullet between the steel damsel and her prey.
Tumblr media
THE IMAGE FLICKERS IN HIS HEAD AGAIN -- the paper beast emerges while lightning cracks behind -- Hanzo’s tiny little figure gracing before him to shield the boy from the SALAMENCE’S DRAGONBREATH. The blood, RAYQUAZA’S angry roar -- the battle that threatened to tear apart their friendship.
In that one single moment, the world around him seemed to slow. HANZO came between the two of them, acting as a barrier even as a fiery blaze awaited them. Their limbs outstretched as far as possible, they welcomed the flames.
Then a BOOM and a VEIL OF SMOKE consumes the stadium. Then the air is filled with the KARTANA’S choking SCREAM, bringing the chaos to a still if only for a moment. Celesteela’s armored cannons die down, and she hovers their quietly, indifferent to the other beast’s sacrifice.
KUBO has shielded his face, hiding his eye from sight until the smoke has begun to clear. As the shroud dissipates, he finds HANZO, its small figure blackened by the flames and its folds crippled and crinkled inwards. Like lifeless paper it floats to the stadium floor.
“ HANZO -- ” The boy was about to fly to his beast, a pang of fear driving a nail into his heart that the beast was dead. BUT OH -- a dark blur flies between them. Raiden’s footsteps are heard, and then, a sphere flies in to consume the ULTRA BEAST in red light.
“ NO -- ” But he doesn’t react in time. Kubo gasps in horror as HANZO disappears into a pokeball. The sphere rattles on the ground for all about five seconds, and for the first time, he hopes, PRAYS even, that it might break free. BUT HIS PRAYER IS NOT HEARD --
Tumblr media
THE BALL GIVES A RESOUNDING CLICK.
THE EMOTIONS THAT SURGE THROUGH HIM ARE ALMOST OVERWHELMING. Kubo stares for a moment, completely in shock -- while his grandfather retrieves the newly captured ULTRA BEAST. He watches Raiden pluck it from the ground, and chuckle fiendishly.  IT MADE HIM SO ANGRY.
Tumblr media
     “ YOU MONSTERS! ”
HE TRIES TO TACKLE RAIDEN TO THE GROUND. Amazingly, it works, but only because he had the elder off the ground. “ GIVE HIM BACK! YOU CAN’T DO THIS TO HIM! GIVE HIM BACK, HOW DARE YOU -- ”
The next thing he knows, he is grabbed, tossed aside, and shoved onto the ground with a forceful hand, his head pressed against the floor. The violent strike pushes away his rage and instead strikes FEAR -- he’s so angry, but he’s so afraid, it’s pathetic, but he can’t fight the instinct to SCREAM. The boy cries out, unable to stuff down the tears leaking in his eyes.
“ 𝐀𝐏𝐏𝐀𝐑𝐄𝐍𝐓𝐋𝐘 𝐈𝐓 𝐖𝐀𝐒 𝐍𝐄𝐕𝐄𝐑 𝐘𝐎𝐔𝐑𝐒 𝐓𝐎 𝐁𝐄𝐆𝐈𝐍 𝐖𝐈𝐓𝐇! ” RAIDEN hissed, pressing the child’s head deeper into the floor with his free hand. “ 𝐖𝐇𝐀𝐓, 𝐖𝐄𝐑𝐄 𝐘𝐎𝐔 𝐈𝐍𝐓𝐄𝐍𝐃𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐓𝐎 𝐊𝐄𝐄𝐏 𝐈𝐓 𝐒𝐀𝐅𝐄? 𝐅𝐎𝐎𝐋𝐈𝐒𝐇 𝐂𝐇𝐈𝐋𝐃 -- 𝐈 𝐓𝐇𝐎𝐔𝐆𝐇𝐓 𝐘𝐎𝐔 𝐖𝐄𝐑𝐄 𝑾𝑰𝑺𝑬𝑹 𝐓𝐇𝐀𝐍 𝐘𝐎𝐔𝐑 𝐈𝐍𝐆𝐑𝐀𝐓𝐄 𝐅𝐀𝐓𝐇𝐄𝐑! "
       Kubo whimpers beneath Raiden’s hold.
THE SUBORDINATES run up to join their superior, and Raiden slowly releases his grip. His grandson tries to scuttle way, concealing his tearful face by his disheveled locks of hair. Unfortunately he cannot escape -- two grunts reach to grab him by the arms and pull him up to his feet, and they pull him away from the enraged elder.
Raiden slowly recollects himself, joined by his two masked daughters. Behind the cover of their masks, they scowl.
“ BESIDES -- you should be GLAD! Because of you I now have TWO ULTRA BEASTS in my possession to use. You have done a great service to me. In time -- you will come to be proud of this little mishap. ”
Kubo, gasping for breath, only lifts his head slightly. He tries his very best to GROWL -- but he can’t keep so much as a frown. The words twist in his gut and tie a knot as a sad realization washes over his thoughts. ‘ IT’S MY FAULT. IT’S MY FAULT. IT’S ALL MY FAULT ... ’
he did this. he did this.
“ TAKE HIM BACK TO THE DARK CHAMBER. That will be his room from here on out. IN THE MEANTIME, bring this little beast back to full health, and be sure that its been conditioned ... PROPERLY. ” RAIDEN withdraws his CELESTEELA as his grandson is dragged away yet again.
           “ GIRLS ... I think it’s time we take a little trip to the ULA’ULA soon, don’t you? ”

"Woo! I'm feeling hype tonight! What about you, trainer? This is your fourth Gym challenge, right? The name's Gina, and I use brilliantly flashy electric-type Pokemon! They're the only type able to keep up with my energy levels on the dance floor! Think you can keep up with us?"
Here's Pokemon Circuit's fourth Gym Leader! Partly a reference to a local soda, partly just a fun design that kept popping in my head hehe.
In Circuit Version's Corwains Gym, you'll face off against the electric-type specialist Gina. A party girl who had the business savvy to be given the role of Sitrupep Ale's newest CEO, Gina's got the smarts for both sales and battling. And thankfully she's able to still be herself in the process, as the gym is a dance club in the basement of the Sitrupep headquarters. You're going to have to make a path to get to Gina though, and to do that you'll have to navigate through the club to find switches that will move floor tiles, eventually leading her to the part of the club where she waits. (and also if this were an actual game, there would be a guy outside of the gym door who asks whether or not you're sensitive to flashing lights, and your answer would change the intensity of the neon club lights or remove them entirely, accessibility ftw)
You might have a bit of an advantage if you have Kinedle or nearly any ground-type. Her level 31 Flaaffy will probably go down easy to a ground-type, as well as her level 35 Magneton. It's when you get to her level 35 Shohoga that she'll join for a Union Battle where that ground-type won't be quite as useful, especially if it's a Beckhound or also part rock, as its secondary grass type will lead to it learning moves that will probably wipe those out. After you become the champion, you can rematch Gina with her full team of Jolteon, Ampharos, Magnezone, Bulkat, Kantonian Raichu, and Shohoga. And yeah, specifying the Raichu because both Kantonian and Alolan variants are here, hehe.

Alrighty, here’s what I got at AX this year.
I finally finished transferring the files at last, even though I was largely distracted.
Lines were much easier this year.  There were 12 badge pickup lines and toldentops was mailed his badge ahead of time.  Also, getting in after getting the badge only took me about 20 minutes compared to about two and a half hours last year and standing in blistering heat from 10am to 3pm in 2016.  I was also really early, me and my sister arrived at 8:40 and I actually waited to get into Artist Alley, which opens at 10.
So at Artist Alley:
Tumblr media
I commissioned this drawing of Riesz, Kevin, and Charlotte from Seiken Densetsu 3 to @say0ran-arts!  Thank you for drawing these characters for me and you nailed their designs!  They were my main cast for my playthrough!  It’s so beautiful and I love it so much!
Tumblr media
Smash Bros print by Miho Studios.
Tumblr media
Kirby print by @cath-biscuits
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Final Fantasy VI and Chrono Trigger prints by @kamallie.  The Chrono Trigger one was suprisingly the only Chrono Trigger related thing I saw.
Tumblr media
Pokemon print by @gabbiegallery.
Tumblr media
Ness sticker by ???.
The Kirby and Final Fantasy pins by ???.
Terra charm from anewworldxtine.  I totally lucked out.  It was out of a gacha machine, and I had like a 2 in 10 chance of getting her.  I got the “your choice” capsule on my first try.
After Artist Alley: Exhibit Hall:
I bumped into @toldentops again!  Talked about my recent vacation to Spain and Seiken Densetsu and gaming in general.  I also bought a Moogle Keychain for $15 (Golly, I’m buying a lot of Final Fantasy stuff this year geez) and found an Audino plush for only $10.  I later spilled some chocolate ice cream on the moogle.
Tumblr media
I also bought a Pokemon grab box and this is what was in it:
Tumblr media
A Pikachu mug and the third Pokemon mug I have.
A Mega Lucario cup that seems to be of pretty good quality.
A bootleg Pokeball stress toy
Pikachu-related Jewelry
Pokemon erasers
And an Ash cap I’m pretty sure I already have
I opened it with @time-gears and toldentops. Hoping for a plushie and it definitely wasn’t worth the $42 I spent on it.  I’m definitely not buying another one next year.
Honestly that’s not the worst thing about today.  The worst thing about the con was seeing someone with “tr*ps r gay” on a paper visor in which I blurted “No they’re not.  And they’re transphobic” and I just wanted to punch them all day.
I also hoped to find a Rabite plush merch but I didn’t find any unfortunately.
But I did go to the marker place that toldentops showed me last year and drew one myself:
Tumblr media
I really like it!
I spent $185 on merch and art, $25 on parking, $15 on food, and $75 on the ticket for a total of $300 on AX today.  I have no regerts.

Pokémon Sword Avatar Challenge Playthrough Part 11
We’re making good progress on our Pokemon Sword, Avatar Challenge - Water Tribe playthrough.  Really good progress.  I can almost see the light at the end of the tunnel - or the Champion at the top of the Pokemon “league,” whichever you prefer.
I like that the past few games are trying something a little different with the formula, either through Totem Trials instead of Gyms or this bracketing system instead of a standing League, though I think if the bracket winners weren’t 100% preset it could be more interesting.
If you missed Part 1, it’s available HERE. If you missed Part 2, it’s available HERE. If you missed Part 3, it’s available HERE. If you missed Part 4, it’s available HERE. If you missed Part 5, it’s available HERE. If you missed Part 6, it’s available HERE. If you missed Part 7, it’s available HERE. If you missed Part 8, it’s available HERE. If you missed Part 9, it’s available HERE.   If you missed Part 10, it’s available HERE.
Ready?  Let’s dive in!
Piers, Marnie, and Team Yell join us in front of the hotel where Oleana shows up to throw down the gauntlet.  Nothing like ridiculous parlor games to find the key.  Rose may enjoy these kinds of games, but chasing clones around a city? All that’s making me do is question if the sequel is shutting down the illegal cloning factory under the Wyndon Gym.
Of course the idiot we want is the one staring face-first into a wall.  The staff are great for power-leveling Okama the Centiskorch since almost every single one of their Pokemon is Steel-type from this point forward.
But even after we beat him, Eric won’t give up the key.  So it’s back to hide-and-seek.  Again. He’s talking with a pair on the left side of the area, so we just beat him down again.  He runs a-gain, so we find him in the phone booth and beat him down a-gain.
We get to the train station and Piers pulls a microphone stand from… somewhere.  He starts performing and the Zigzagoons lose their minds along with all the people.  Somehow in all the chaos we grab the key to take the monorail to Rose Tower then head inside what must be one of the least structurally sound buildings in all of Galar. There’s no way that many floors wouldn’t just topple over, I’m calling it.
(As a broke millennial, I manage to find some sympathy for the first grunt.  Poor thing can’t afford a house.  I feel you, man, I say as I listen to the neighbors in the next apartment almost drown out the background music.)
We get on the definitely unsafe elevator and engage in various Pokemon battles as we ascend to the top floor of the building.  I don’t care what they say about the walls of light, this company must have sensational insurance.  Oh, wait. Sure enough, they try to sell us some life insurance on the way up.  This game, smh.
They make such a big deal about reaching the top floor that it’s not surprising when Oleana is standing there waiting to battle us.  Hop even mentioned being able to Dynamax up here.  Talk about your ridiculous Towers of Babel.  Apparently the height is doing things to Oleana’s head because she goes bananas and starts flinging Pokeballs.
Oleana actually has a pretty well-rounded team compared to her peons with various types, and combos like burn/Double Team and poison/Venoshock.  I’ll give it to her: she’s got some skill.  She’s no match for us, but she’s got some skill.  Maybe there’s protein powder in the corporate Kool-Aid she’s been guzzling.  But… the most hilarious part of her team is her final Pokemon, a Garbodor.  Does this one… not seem to fit with all the rest? Sleek female Pokemon and then, well, sludgy hell.  Gigantamaxing Garbodor does not make it any better, Oleana.
As soon as we beat Oleana we make it to Rose and Leon who are deep in a discussion about the future of Galar and its ever-increasing energy needs.  Game. On. Point.  Maybe Rose should invest more heavily in renewable energy.  Hmmmm.
Anyway.  After that long detour I’m sure all of us are starving so Leon makes good on his promise to feed us.  Finally.
The next day it’s time for the Championship Finals battles.  Our first battle is going to be against… huh.  Well, Bede showed up for the party.  That outfit actually suits him.  “Do you have any idea what I’ve been through?!”  Poor baby.  Tee hee.
Bede isn’t any harder than he’s been the whole time even though his team is now Fairy-heavy instead of Psychic-heavy.  I think we one-shot everything on his team up to the Hatterene, even though Rapidash nails us hard with a critical Psycho Cut on Haku.  We move to Aleyla the Mr. Rime to deal with Hatterene, hitting neutral Max Hailstorms and tanking the hits.  Having chip damage from the hail is nice too.  Once again, Bede’s bark is bigger than his bite.
(Does it take the fun out of it for anyone else that they heal you between matches?  No?  Just me?)
We get another shot at Nessa, who is even easier this time since we’ve got solid Electric- and Grass-type attackers on the team.  Ah, the days of challenging her gym with Body Slam.  Even Aleyla has Freeze-Dry!  This battle just isn’t even a challenge.  Still love her design, though.
I wish we could watch the other battles.  Bea vs Gordie would be a literal beat down and Raihan would probably wipe the floor with Milo, but Piers versus Kabu could be a good match!
What makes our team interesting after all the change-ups is that our Psychic-type is weak to Fighting moves.  Let’s let’s see how this goes.  Aleyla manages to take down Hawlucha, Sirfetch’d, Falinks, and Grapploct, but she’s gotten beat up a little.  Haku resists Fighting-type moves so we send him out to handle the Machamp and call it a battle.
The final match is against Raihan.  At least this one isn’t another double-battle.  Raihan’s reworking has some interesting effects on the battle. We switch in and out to deal with Yawn from Torkoal and accidentally throw Amal clean into a Body Press and one-turn Solar Beam.  Okay, Raihan actually brought the big guns this time.  I love it.  He’s actually doing a better job with the first two Pokemon as the Fire-type gym leader than Kabu, but don’t tell Kabu that.  The Dragons are easy enough with Aleyla, then we put Okama in against Duraludon. Max Flare is only neutral and Duraludon hits first with Max Rockfall, so Okama can’t close the deal.  But getting Duraludon down to about half makes it easy for Haku to finish of Duraludon even with resisted moves.  Raihan actually brought the battle.  I’m pleased with that one!
