Some unrelated Pokespe things I <3

[This is not in any way an exhaustive list. Also I am rambling.]

I think it's kind of eerie (in a very good way) how the third to last chapter of Pokespe book 9 ends with the protagonists of that series getting crushed by a block of ice and then basically cutting to black on them, and then immediately defaulting back to Red and Yellow as the perspective you read. (The protagonists of the Red and Blue and Yellow chapters.) I don't know if it had that much thought behind it in reality, but to me it's so scary of an energy because it feels like Gold and Silver died or something and they had to cut to a different camera. Not literally, obviously but like.... ough.

I could also talk about Gold's characterization for literal hours and I wrote a two page essay on him once for health class. The way he hides his emotions with jokes, combined with his unhealthy habits, (including, of course, flirting with women),,, He's such a good character and I LOVE the way he's characterized. The way everyone's like, "this is exactly who you don't want to be," and uses him as a bad example for other dexholders and joke about him behind his back and he just sits there and takes it. The way it only took him a small mistake (his name on a different paper) to completely and totally break down. The way he seems to drop an act when it's just him and Emerald alone in Fire Red Leaf Green... The way he jokes to hide the fact that he's scared how others feel about him... I don't know if it was on purpose, or even intentional at all, but to me, Gold is the best written character in pokespe.

This isn't really a Pokespe thing, not exactly, but the library system near me only has Pokespe up to the Fire Red Leaf Green book where they all get turned into stone, and I used to have very very little contact with the internet so I literally just thought that's where the series ended. I...

It must suck so bad to be Sun. Like, my guy looses his grandfather, looses his grandfather's island, works ridiculously hard to get an extremely large sum of money to buy it back, only for that to be a lie, gets stuck in the Ultra Dimension for months, and then just keeps working. (It's also pretty important to mention that he is suffering at the hands of a giant corporation that basically runs his region, yet is not viewed badly by the general public.)

The fact that Red x Yellow is a thing and Red gets all bushy around Yellow even when he thought Yellow was a guy... That's a little bit... Hmm...

And finally, the best part of Pokespe, Red's hair in Gold and Silver. (I AM IN LOVE WITH HIM.)

I'm growing increasingly confident in the idea that the pokemon tabletop systems (Adventure, United & Reunited) are in fact the best way to engage with the pokemon franchise simply because of on top of allowing you to actually express yourself as a human in those absurd settings, you can also as a player reach across the table and throttle the GM until they clarify what the fuck those sausages are made out of aside from 'meat'.

pre-emptive PS: I cannot stress enough how people using dnd 5e to play pokemon are doing themselves a disservice and looking for games that are intended to fulfill their needs is always better than trying to hack an existing game into doing something it wasn't built for.

so like I was thinking cuz red is a farmhand in this au, he was hired by professor oak as an extra field hand for research after seeing him fend off the family farm from the bandit rocket gang which i need to do designs for next.

also also for blue the little torn lighter blue fabric is supposed to be apart of some kind of battle gimmick i was thinking of where she disguises herself in like a really poofy dress and then tears it off when she wants to get the jump on her target

so yeah thats why thats there 👍

And this marks the end of Gladions Arc... It's been 3 long years since I started this arc. Granted, I was on hiatus for a full year due to my animated Comic Dub, but still. I'm glad I finally managed to finish this story after all this time. As always, thank you for your patience and thanks for reading!

Some notes for future updates: I will most likely change my shading style and break free from the set 16:9 format I have been presenting my comic panels in for the past few years. I noticed how much time I'm wasting on shading and rendering my panels, as beautiful as it may look in the end, for a comic it's an incredibly inefficent way to work and I want to improve on that, so that I may be able to finish comics more regularly in the future. "El's Alolan Adventures" is only one of many projects I'm working on, so if I want to continue it, I should learn to actually work like a comic artist instead of an illustrator.

Rescue in the Sky

A long time ago, since the rivers were young and the lands unnamed, when the races were still few and the world untouched by evil, the race of the Lati carried song and message between the great temples of the gods and their servants. For many ages, their deeds were worthy of many tellings and songs, for their minds were sharp, and their wings were swift. In the air, no being could outpace them. And wherever they flew, they wore armour made in the forges of Heatran, and soaring over the clouds of the heavens, they shone in the light of the sun like a day star.

But like most things from the time of old, they have now mostly passed into legend. Their ruin was one of the first tragedies of the Oath Breaking, and few remain after the world was cast into ruin and remade. No longer do the Lati travel the skies and bring tidings from the far corners of the world, and only once in many years are mortals of great fate blessed with their presence, and their songs only bring grief and the sense of memories lost.

Grim seems the fate of the Lati. Yet it was said in the last revelation of the Xatu Seers, which was told before the arrival of the Exiles of Man, that the race of the sky has been healing and waiting for the turning of the world, and that a day will come when the Great Sages return and call upon them, and the holy messengers will once more decent to the Earth, and with their aid the great pillars of evil shall be broken, and the race of Man will renew their oaths, and the world will be mended.
