I love fossil mons! I have some fun headcannons to one day reveal here on the blog too!
But then i learned of the Galar fossils.
So heres a mything pokemon Fauxsil ((just pronounced Fossil)) to fix all that horrifying work that Cara Liss and others have done thatll make its way into the story for more mundane reasons since my world doesnt have a Galar region. Ive limited it to gen 4 and lower and to individual pokemon i love from later regions but not whole regions.
If YOU want one they come with a few rules:l below cut:
•They all originate from my universe and are sent out after other universes call for the mythic for it to be born there.
• I call it a mask but that is in fact its skull specialized to reflect away pokeball beam/tech. This fact also makes insta capture balls only have a 50/50 shot and all others useless
• sorry no shiny version, but pattern can be more detailed as long as its still got the vibe of a lab coat outfit! And mask can look different as long as it covers most of the face and head and is metalic for its typing.
• all that fluff is feathers if your a more detailed artists. Its for speed while flying and better water resistance!
• no pupils. This little thing has no eyes. It senses the world in whatever way best to find fossils as well as fossil mons.
• Teeth, pawpads, and claws can look like anything! Whatever you think fits your world best
• the bone stick can look like anything, just gotta be bone related lol
•They are genderless and non-replicating, preferred pronouns can change ((trans ur mon ues)) but they cannot have eggs/kids.
• Size ranges from 1.5 feet tall to 4 foot tall
• I MUST BE CREDITED AS THE SPECIES CREATOR so @ this blog
Have fun!

Any headcanon's on Cara Liss, the Menace that Must Be Stopped
Not actually a researcher, she dropped out of grad school
Has been arrested a few times, mostly for questionable ethics and impersonating a researcher
She unironically thinks her combos are how the Pokemon used to be and won't listen to anyone who says otherwise
To her credit, she does treat her weird fossil Pokemon with compassion once they're made
Owns seven pairs of Crocs

Name's Cara Liss. I'm a fossil researcher. You got any fossil Pokémon to show me? Or any questions for my brilliant mind?
Oh and just in case you were wondering, huh. The feds can't find me and neither can you.
((this blog runs with the assumption that the Galarian fossil Pokémon have a decent quality of life, although they do need more support and are basically disabled by default. if you come into Cara's inbox claiming that they're constantly suffering horribly she'll make fun of you. please remember that in the games and shit they're healthy enough to be able to battle. and if they didn't have a baseline quality of life the most ethical thing to do would be to put them down and that's not fun to play with.))

There is a severe dearth of “Colress reacts to the Galar fossils” content, so as usual I must take matters into my own hands.

is there a pokemon you find that doesnt make sense?
Those damn Galar fossils, or what people seem to claim as one.
How they actually survive the process of being wrongly fused back together is beyond me, I will not pretend to understand that, nor do I have the time to devele into it, but I've had to open up a few of them in my time, and had the luck of examining some bodies for research purposes.
Nothings where you think its going to be. Sometimes they have more organs than normal, other times theyre missing entire bits usually needed for healthy living, often enough they have mechanics that contradict each other and dont work cohesivley. Their physiology is diobolical, how that "expert" ever thought they were right once reformed is beyond me. Clearly theres an error there and she's ignored that due to them being alive suddenly, apparently thats good enough.
Her methods should be subject to heavy scruitiny, seeing as she clearly has no regard for the lives shes creating with her studies and practises.

are there any prehistoric pokemon at the sanctuary? if not, then have you ever taken care of any? i hear they have difficult needs due to the whole being brought back to life thing.
Yep, most of the time we have prehistoric Pokemon that are resurrected and happen to have bad IVs.
It's more common than you think, sadly.
We had many fossil Pokemon from Lileep to Aerodactyl and, for the most part, they don't have problems adapting. Maybe a few minor health problems since their bodies aren't the best for the new life conditions/climate/oxygen levels but those are never so bad that it lowers their quality of life.
But that is not the case for the fossil Pokemon Cara Liss creates.
The Pokemon Cara Liss creates by mixing two different fossils are...well, I don't want to call the poor Pokemon abonomations, but, they kinda are.
Upside down heads, mismatched body ratio that exposes the fragile organs too much, and, hell, a head on the tip of the tail.
I'm not a professor, and I'm not educated in this field but these Pokemon always have a very low quality of life. They suffer throughout their lives but they are healthy just enough that they won't get put down.
It's....sad to witness.
These Pokemon are especially friendly and warm-hearted and I can kinda understand how the disproportions make them look 'cuter' but I thinks its cruel.
I won't judge someone who has these Pokemon, of course, but it does make me a little... skeptical about them.

Cara Liss in fanon: She is an amoral Pokemon researcher mocked and hated by the scientific community for her methods and does not care for the sanctity of life as she deliberately creates abominations who constantly suffer.

about those tags, I'm sorry but what in giratina's distortion world is a chimeragon? it ACTUALLY sounds like a pokemon im curious
Great question!
These are the two types of Chimeragons we know of, and the only ones in existence. The one that resembles a Bewilderbeast is far more aggressive than the purple one, but besides that and appearance-wise, they pretty much function the same.
As far as we’re aware they’re some… amalgamation of different dragon genes. Whether it was achieved by breeding or some other means, I have no idea. But they have three different types of blasts- ice breath being one of them. Electricity and a regular fire blast are the others.
Also, they only live for a week and age insanely fast, but then revert back to an egg and are reborn. We still have no idea how any of that works. They’re definitely up there with some of the most confusing species.

i understand why cara liss is called that
she is named "careless" literally xd
the proper course of action would be to combine the fossils that match with each other instead of "hey, let's combine the drake and bird together" and we get a frankenstein monster
i understand if each fossil is only a certain part of the body but maybe in the future we'll get the true forms of each galar fossil
