We are absolutely getting something Unova based on Pokemon Day 2024 but if it's a remake by Ilca I'm going to bite someone

Lmao literally within two hours of the pokemon presents I saw people bitching abt plza bc "it's only set in a city" okay????? And?????? You ain't never been in a massive city before to get lost in???? you're the same people who bitched and moaned on and on about how the cities in SV and SWSH felt so lifeless and boring and when they're like "okay, definitely not making that mistake here" you turn around and whine that it's gonna be boring only being in a city
Shut the fuck up. Shut the fuck up oh my god pokemon fans are LITERALLY unpleasable. They're bringing back megas, which again, everyone and their mother complained about going away. We don't know ANYTHING yet and already people are complaining that it's gonna be the ilca remake bc they gotta find a way to shoehorn in shitting on that too bc y'all are incapable of feeling joy and whimsy

legit crying over pokemon rn but thats what happens when you feel the pure joy of seeing your favorite pokemon in the game after years of it being absent in the regional dex since ORAS. Mightyena my sweet baby puppy. it can keep pace with my trainer when i run and it looks so perfect when it runs. it makes such cute growling noises. when you whistle for it, it's tail goes straight up! i want the game world to stop raining and being cloudy im trying to take pictures of my dog in the flowers. Mightyena i love you i missed you so much!!!

ive talked to a few people who are interested in pokemon but aren't hip to the past 25 years of content so I've ranked all of the main series games by how worth playing they are. opinions are very subjective but mine are the correct ones actually. reblog to save a life

Out of curiosity, since two are the most disliked remakes among fans.
For me, we didn't really need another Kanto game, and the GO mechanics weren't really appealing to me, but I feel it had a decent amount of things that made it more unique and charming. I also really liked the Gym Leader redesigns, them adding Archer and Mina, and finally giving Green a little bit of spotlight. It also had the best following Pokemon.
BDSP improved gameplay over the original DP (I do appreciate them too for some things like how HMs were implemented, the ways they actually made the E4 a challenge with competitive EVs, moves, and Items), and the Grand Underground was pretty addicting, but was released with a ton of bugs and was a major waste of potential since they didn't really add any of the upgraded story/characterization from Platinum, and also kinda a waste since they couldn't really add anything from Legends either. (A faithful remake was just a poor choice for DP since Platinum did everything so much better, and the remake still falls short of it due to using the inferior versions.)

BDSP was fine, y'all just mean
Tumblr media
Kinda kidding but not really as I know it's a hot take
Written Feb 6th 2024
Not saying some of the dislike wasn't worth it
But the problem wasn't with ILCA it's the base game of Diamond and Pearl
A lot of people's complaints basically sum up that they didn't incorporate Platinum into the game
Mainly from Pokemon available, with some mentioning the Giratina distortion world and such plus other changes that platinum had from DP like battle frontier differences
On one hand yes it would have been nice if they did make some more changes like implementing more Platinum story elements making it more of a definitive Sinnoh experience
But also it's DP remakes not Platinum remakes
Similar with ORAS and FRLG they had some new stuff and revamped stuff. But it's not like FRLG had Yellow elements (that's lets go) and ORAS had a lot of Emerald. At most the Delta episode for ORAS was their workaround for no Emerald so if you want to group that as the full game then sure BDSP needed some DLC but then you have the DLC dilemma is getting the platinum stuff worth an extra $20-$30 dollars and have that dlc debate
The underground solved a lot of the issues imo
The underground having Pokemon down there personally solved a lot of the Pokemon availability problem
For example, I picked Turtwig so I wasn't just limited to Ponyta for a fire type since I didn't pick Chimchar I had options as Magby and Houndour were now available, which fixes the fire type problem imo
And I think people overreact about the changes to the bases and flag capturing as yes it would have been nice if they were the same but I think the changes outweigh it greatly. Plus if ORAS showed anything people really didn't care to have the secret bases as secret bases and just liked it for nostalgia mainly
Not saying BDSP was perfect but I do think in a lot of aspects it is the definitive Sinnoh experience as you're basically just missing the Giratina story which isn't as necessary to the plot imo
As it kinda just seems like Yellow, Crystal, Emerald and Platinum were seen as definitive because they don't have the dual version conundrum so they seem more complete in compariso. But when the dual version games get additional content is the additional usually third legendary plot really worth it?
Maybe maybe not
And I know a lot of rumors about potential Johto or Unova remakes have been going on and people are worried as they didn't like BDSP
But if for example ILCA makes the remakes and has the chibi style and etc
But they fix the level scaling in Johto or something like Pokemon availability for Unova I think those would be better even if minimal changed
I do have my own hopes and wishes for potential remakes but I will wait until they are officially announced

Insane that pokemon has always had gen one dick sucking content every generation. Johto literally had Kanto, gen 3 had rbg remakes, dp only had 151 pokemon in pre national pokedex (thankfully they raised it to over 200 in pt) and AGAIN hgss had Kanto, I could go on they will not shut the fuck up about kanto

jokes aside if they're really doing bw remakes i think that's such a bold move because bw was the absolute peak of masterpiece and it's what a pokemon game should be (at least to me) i also prefer pixels over 3d models so there's a slight bias. if they're going to remake it and turn it to 3d like dp -> bdsp... i hope it looks good because im quite picky there ... i wonder how will they remaster the skyarrow bridge or castelia city's camera panning because I don't think anything can top that quality. personally for me i think its impossible to "upgrade" bw nor can you replace it. it's just too good and well, it's the best farewell to the ds era.

Honestly I love pokemon, always have, but I cannot with gamefreak anymore. During the 3ds era I would have been PUMPED for Unova remakes, being one of my favorite gens and regions, but now I cannot be assed to care because there hasn't been a good mainline pokemon game on the switch.
I wanted to like SV, but by god did it disappoint. Only pokemon game I've ever not finished the dex on
i want to say it was obvious it was all downhill when they announced SWSH wouldn't have a full nat dex. that was the point where it was clear the bar they set for themselves in the 3DS era was too high for them to bother with. it wasn't a filesize issue, it wasn't a "new engine" issue, it wasn't a logistics issue, they just didn't feel like it. but they still wanted $90 for it. (and somehow the fandom decided pretty quick that expecting them to keep the standard they themselves had set up for over 20 years was "unreasonable" for some reason.) but hey, maybe if you felt generous and said eh, it's their first mainline game on the switch - as shown by DP and XY, the first games on a new console can be ... rougher around the edges, y'know? but don't you worry, if SWSH hadn't got to you, they have an outsourced, unity built, third party, 1:1 No Extra Features Or New Mons, ugly lookin rebuild of some shitass sinnoh games because they clearly can't do it in house, they need all of their devs to crunch on the new mainline game coming out the very next year and then the game releases and it's just incredibly fucked up in a thousand ways and even has fucking Ed Sheeran in it because somehow the venn diagram of hardcore ed sheeran fans and pokemon fans is apparently a circle?? anyway they're clearly telling us they plan on milking the franchise without giving us anything worth the money and even tho PLA was really good in theory (despite the abysmal amount of available mons) I'm probably done with new Pokemon for the foreseeable future. last November I spent the $60 I had budgeted for games on Sonic Frontiers instead which was... alright. but it was better than scarvio, so y'know!

What are your thoughts on people saying the new pokemon games are being rushed? You think it's true?
I mean they’ve been known to rush Pokémon games out before XD so I wouldn’t be surprised if it was. I guess because legends and gen 9 are being put out so close together (DP remakes were outsourced so I don’t count them)

Okay so I did a count of the assumed associations in the Pokemon timelines. Because I guess I hate myself tonight?
BW1 -> BW2. Literally the only hard confirmed thing in the series.
Y -> GS/C. Confirmed based on Red having all three starters, Blue having none. Though I'm just going to say it. Blue not having Eevee? Means that Gen 2 might actually be entirely separated timelines from the Gen 1 games we played. Nothing maps perfectly, and with alternate timelines existing, we can retroactively cast doubt on their continuity.
Y -> HGSS. Same as above. That's right, HGSS cannot possibly occur after FRLG, given the team composition. And the difference in Red's team suggests alternate timeline as well. Notably, HGSS could, in theory, lead to SuMo and USUM timelines, but those have Mega Evolution which is canonically a different timeline indicator from games without megas per Delta Episode.
HGSS -> BW1 -> BW2. We know Gen 2 goes to BW1 based on the ex-Rocket house. However, we can confidently saw that BW timeline exists alongside the remake timeline, because of Sabrina in PokeStar Studios. Sabrina has the (incorrect) short hair based on her HGSS presence, eliminating GS or C from possibility.
Platinum -> BW1. Caitlin. Note that Cynthia looks exactly no different, however, despite an allegedly large time jump per fan timelines. Which implies either (1) Caitlin hit a growth spurt in whatever timeframe occurred, which could be lengthy or could be as short as like four years, or (2) they're not actually associated at all, as Caitlin doesn't have Darach, and barring the commentary about not being allowed to battle, I don't think makes mention of the Battle Castle in Gen 5 at all. And I know what you're thinking. "Couldn't HGSS also attach to BW1?" Very unclear, considering that DPPt and HGSS take place at nebulously the same time, with Jasmine also occupying two places at once and having contradictory voice lines on which one happened first, so there's also the possibility that DP and Pt are separate timelines from HGSS. Which, further note: yes, DP and Pt are separate timelines just like all the third games.
R/S/E -> BW2. The Rocket house is occupied by former Magma and Aqua grunts. There are two reasons I'm not including HGSS in this mix. First, we don't know for sure that RSE took place before or after HGSS. Second, we don't have anything to connect RSE to HGSS itself. These grunts could be associated with the teams, but notably only talk about not letting the other know about their past, not any specific deed committed. Unlike the Rocket Grunt who can be placed by dialect, we don't know these goons. RSE may not have even happened yet, to say nothing of how R, S, and E are all different timelines given the wildly different events and we'd have no way of knowing which one they came from.
XY/ORAS -> SuMo. We assume, given the presence of mega evolution, but there's not anything I can think of to sincerely connect them together. They could just as easily be associated with USUM, but there's nothing to ensure those either.
Pt -> XY/ORAS -> SuMo or USUM. Because Looker. Now of course, this is impossible, as Platinum does not have mega evolution, so are we dealing with separate Lookers? I've heard theory that ORAS amnesia Looker is also a Faller, but if that's the case then he has no association at all with Gen 7 Looker, who does not seem to be pursued by the UBs in the same way as Anabel, nor is he used by Interpol the same way. It's also impossible to tell if ORAS took place before XY and he's better now, and that's why in XY he seems like a bit more of a mess, or if XY was first and wherever he was off to next didn't go so great.
Legends Arceus -> BDSP. Yes, specifically. Why? Raminas Flowers. Those don't exist in DPPt, only in BDSP does Raminas mean anything. By extension, the Legends Arceus events cannot be confirmed to have happened in DPPt timeline.
RB/Y -> SuMo. I'm bringing this up because it's wrong wrong wrong! Mega Evolution timelines do not intersect with non-mega evolution timelines! RBY and SuMo cannot possibly be related, yet the entire fan timeline bases itself on this association, because the Porygon Dex entry in SuMo said it was made 20 years ago, while some outside book source stated Porygon was made around 1 year prior to RB, thus setting the timeline between those games at 19-20 years. You want to know why? Because that's how many real world years passed. SuMo released in 2016, RB in 1996. It's just a reference to reality, not anything happening in the games' reality. It's made up, guys. The dex says Pyroar can breathe fire hotter than the Sun, sometimes it's stupid.
As far as I'm aware, literally any other association between two games is pure speculation. And even most of this isn't hard confirmation.
