Kind of OOC, but I need to rant about this.

I am a socialist lefty who believes that almost all jobs should be coops, is pro-choice, hates the police, pro-LGBT+, hates Elon Musk (which is a political thing now I guess) and genuinely believes that most republicans in power are straight-up evil and the ones who aren’t are kicked out for not being evil enough. Most of the things I say online are usually related to my politics.

But the thing that gets me the most hate is whenever I compliment a Switch Pokemon game.

I can go on a ten-tweet rant about the steps the right have been taking towards the genocide of LGBT+ people (mostly trans people right now) towards a transphobe and get three angry tweets.

But I dare say something like “the new Pokemon games look really good” and i get over 20 tweets of people calling me a “shill,” saying that “I’m part of the problem” and for some reason some antisemitism or ableist shit. Over a video game. Made with children in mind.

I have purposely tried riling some of the worst people up to get a reaction worthy enough to get them banned off the platform so people don’t have to see that shit. I don’t get nearly as much harassment from them or their followers as I do from Pokemon “fans.”

I really find that sad. These people act like it’s the end of the world if their Pokemon game doesn’t look like a PS5 game and runs perfectly while ignoring the end of the world.

Hi, I'm Ridley. I'm 25, agender Nonbinary (they/them/fae/faer/xe/xem) and bisexual. I've been in a relationship with the love of my life for 7 years and we got engaged 4/8/24

I say I'm a writer but very rarely do I actually commit to writing lmao. I focus mostly on poetry, which I do post here.

I'm a college student, studying clinical psychology with a minor in creative writing. I want to be a psychotherapist, specializing in mood and personality disorders. This is in part due to my own mental illnesses: BPD, bipolar II, major depression, EDNOS and PTSD.

I'm physically disabled, with moderate to severe seropositive rheumatoid arthritis and fibromyalgia.

I mentioned creative writing in my college education, and I edit books as a side gig alongside my full time job. I provide copywriting and proofreading in my services and I also upon request give feedback! I write a lot of poetry and I at some point would like to get back into fanfiction writing. I'm also working on an erotica novel called Slow Burn. My poetry can be found on my Instagram, and I also do book reviews on my book instagram

I really enjoy video games as well, and Pokemon is my #1 favorite game. I also love dead by daylight, animal crossing, Stardew valley, elder scrolls online, Skyrim and dragon age.

The new Pokemon games seems to be what a lot of people were looking for in a Pokemon game for a long time, but I’m sure those people who complained that Sword and Shield didn’t have x that Scarlet and Violet has will still find things about S&V to cry about and make them send harassment towards the developers and those who just runs the Twitter accounts because of one tiny, stupid thing like “there’s no voice acting (that we know of so far”) because those people have existed since gen 3. (At least.)

I’m surprised that I haven’t seen the games trending so far. That could be because of a certain trial that’s going on, but I was directly told that at least one person doesn’t care that people were killed while they were demanding that people don’t buy the games so I doubt that they’d care about that trial.
