Reminder that Kieran gives us Drayton's phone case
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So Kieran has Drayton's phone case with him at all times even though he doesn't even have a phone
Tumblr media
As @perelka-l pointed out Drayton's tracksuit coming from Kitakami is actually true, so Drayton and Kieran carry smth that they (maybe) gave to each other 24/7.

if/when the pla protag gets back to their time do you think it fucks with them that everyone they knew in the past is dead? like this isn’t like other pokemon media going to another world things, their friends aren’t off living their own lives somewhere else, they’re dead. have been for decades. probably have graves the protag could visit, well some of them, anyway. I bet some of them weren’t important enough for graves or memorials that lasted that long. some of them probably never even really got recorded as existing at all, and now the protag is the only one who remembers them.
like we all make jokes about the protag going back with Ingo and punting Cyrus into the next decade for the whole Team Galactic thing but like, after all that, do you think it hits them at some point that everyone’s dead now? do they look at Cyrus and just feel devastated because he might be the only thing that’s left of Cyllene? do they stay up late reading Laventon’s wikipedia page trying to reconcile the historical figure who has university buildings named after him and books written about him with the friendly father-figure who hugged them and remembered their birthday and made sure they ate dinner? do they research the history of the clans, trying to find whatever remnants might exist just to see something familiar, something that reminds them of the friends they made? do they go to memorials and graveyards and whatever historic buildings remain desperate to find some sense of closure, or maybe just comfort, to try and imagine that people they left behind are still there, just for a moment?
do they go back up to the top of mt. coronet and stand there in the ruined temple, eyes closed, wondering if maybe when they walk back down instead of the bustling towns of the future they’ll find a small camp with a familiar flag waving out front? does some deep, small part of them wish that they could go back, even just for a moment, just to see everyone one last time? do they regret not cherishing the time they did have, being so eager to get back home that they didn’t stop to appreciate what they were leaving behind?
cuz I mean sure the protag probably only spent a couple of years in the past, depending, but a couple of years is a long time when you’re a teenager finally coming into your own, even if they knew deep down the Hisui of the past wasn’t their real home and that they had to leave one day, I think it would be hard for them to truly let go of everything that happened to them, and especially the bonds they formed with the people there. it might not hit them right away, but nah I bet they would always feel just a little bit out of place once they came back, and I think eventually they’d really have to contend with the fact that everyone they knew is dead and gone and they’ll never see them again, and it's gonna be hard.
(and yeah they probably have Ingo, but he lives on the other side of the world and is an adult, it’s gonna be different for him. fifteen year olds are still kids, and kids really latch on to people in ways you don’t expect, especially when things are going Very Badly. I think Ingo would understand, but also, probably not as much as the protag would need him to.)
I just really wonder sometimes...

The P(aldea)-Solariser and the P-Lunariser (or 'you're really gonna give me sun and moon men outside of Alola, huh')
... Oh, @prince-kallisto, buddy. Look what you've done. xD (/j, been meaning to talk about this for MONTHS.)
My good pal spoke recently on the subject of Hassel's eyes and the significance of Baxcalibur, and it's reminded me yet again how Hassel is painted in the Paldean narrative as the sun, and how Brassius is painted as the moon - and the fact that that's deeply, deeply gay. Now, I've already discussed the fact that Hassel is a Sunflora, and further how one of The Harvests is both Dragon-coloured and features small suns, but let's go more in-depth, shall we? :D
What follows is every example I can find of sun and moon symbolism within these husbands. (They can't keep getting away with this shit. It's just unhinged.)
Let's begin with... well, eyes.
Tumblr media
You know what this is based off? It's a parhelic circle, also known as this thing:
Tumblr media
This is defined in scientific terms as following:
'A luminous halo, each side of the sun parallel to the horizon, caused by refraction of sunlight through ice crystals.'
... Huh. Ice crystals. Almost like the man owns an Ice type, and shows off a literal ice crystal in his classroom!
And just in case, for a singular half-moment of your day, you thought that there wasn't absolute equality in this marriage...
Tumblr media
... Here's the lunar version, also known as a paraselenic circle. And I think, guys, I've seen this somewhere before...
Tumblr media
You know that thing, of looking at someone like they hung the moon because they're the most important person in the world to you?
Tumblr media
... Bit like this, in fact? Yeah. Look at these men, stood here with their fucking sun and moon eyes. I hate both of you intensely. <333
Next, the Sunny Day TM is in Artazon... next to a Surrendering Sunflora.
Tumblr media
(Forgive my jank screenshot here - it's an old one.)
I happen to know from my five-hour meta on these bad boys that this Sunflora also faces solar south, or the part of the day where the sun is highest on the horizon. So, you've put the Sunny Day TM on a cliff that's nearer the sun, facing the sun, beside the sun. Okay Game Freak, very cool, I see you... Brassius' life has been brightened to blinding degrees, yes...
Whilst this isn't the only TM in this game that's in a hilariously appropriate location - TM92 Trick Room being on the roof of the professor's lab, directly above the time machine, springs to mind - it is the only one that's this gay, so... notable.
Next... Brassie is a dragon fruit. Look at this man.
Tumblr media
Because, y'know, half-dragon, half-plant. Like Flapple.
Why is this relevant in a sun and moon meta? Well, the dragon fruit comes from a cacti, and its flowers?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Which again, seems really familiar...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
... Sweet fucking Arceus. And it gets even better, because dragon fruit also comes in yellow!
Tumblr media
And as with its flowers, yellow dragon fruit really likes the sun.
Tumblr media
... The flower that blossoms only under moonlight, and the fruit that only flourishes in sunlight.
Tumblr media
There is an entire world of spiritual symbolism surrounding Hassius and dragon fruits by the way, which would be going hugely off-topic here, but I'll leave you to chew on these two:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Mm...
Tumblr media
... Mmmmm.
And just in case this all hasn't killed you off as much as it's killed me, pals, let me stick the final knife in for you.
Flapple's portrait in the Paldea dex is at dusk.
Tumblr media
... Halfway between the day and the night.
Halfway between the sun and the fucking moon.

Think Arven has to be talked into talking to someone after the crater?
Because hes been on his own, even at the academy, for so long. Just sitting in his dorm, beating himself up for not being able to just HANDLE everything that happened.
Think he cries and hugs mabosstiff? Just trying desperately to cling to the one thing he has left, that he knows wont leave him?
Do you think he wonders, idly, if all this means that neither parent wanted to be around him? Wanted him in general? And now he'll never know if his parent gave a damn in the last chance they had to do so.
Do you think he cries?

this is broken as hell (link to simulator)
here’s a breakdown of the rules:
with terestallization, the pokemon’s actual type is changed to a mono-type.
however, it retains the STAB of its original typing in addition to a new STAB granted by the tera type. there are different effects depending on if the tera type of the pokemon is the same or different as the original typing.
mono-type pokemon example:
tangrowth is a pure mono Grass type. if its tera type were Grass (the same as its original typing), it will get a x2 STAB instead of x1.5. however, if tangrowth had a tera type different from its original type, say a Rock tera type, it would retain its x1.5 Grass STAB in addition to gaining x1.5 Rock STAB.
dual-type pokemon example:
hatterene is a dual Fairy and Psychic type. if its tera type were Fairy, it would have x2 STAB for Fairy and x1.5 STAB Psychic. likewise, if its tera type was Psychic it would have x2 STAB for Psychic and x1.5 STAB for Fairy. if it had a tera type different from either of its original types, like Electric tera type, it retains both x1.5 STAB for its original types (Fairy and Psychic) in addition to x1.5 STAB for Electric. so it has three x1.5 STAB types.
their weaknesses are the same as the tera type. Rock tangrowth is weak to Rock weaknesses, not Grass ones. Electric hatterene is weak to Electric weaknesses, not Fairy or Psychic ones.
you can see how this can be broken. if the tera type is the same as the original it’s basically free Adaptability.
consider
full hp choice specs tera water kyogre using water spout in drizzle
porygon-z with its base 135 SpA + tera normal + adaptability + choice specs + SpA beneficial nature + 31 SpA IVs + 252 SpA EVs and tri-attack
ice types are going to see more viability because if their tera type is different they will still have ice STAB but not ice’s pitiful defenses
simply the existence of dual ice/ground types with a steel tera type. that’s x1.5 ice, ground, and steel STAB offenses with only steel defenses. like that might even be better than the steel/fairy dual type because ice and ground are the most offensive types in that they hit more types for super effective damage than any other. but it’ll have none of ice’s bullshit defenses. steel mamoswine is going to go CRAZY . it can learn iron head btw . if you even care EDIT: HAS THICK FAT TOO

y’know, i feel like we don’t acknowledge how messed up porygon-z is in canon enough.
in-universe, they’re not even sure if this is a proper evolution or not. it’s a glitch, mishandled code from an incompetent engineer. it’s meant to explore other dimensions, but is too erratic to serve that purpose. even laventon, who doesn’t understand a single facet of the porygon line, is concerned about porygon-z’s behavior.
people love talking about the retcons making mega evolution out to be a painful process, but i think we need to talk more about porygon and how normalized it’s become to absolutely ruin this poor thing…

So does that mean you enjoyed Pokemon Violet? And do you play those games often or this was a one-off?
Did I Enjoy Pokemon Violet?
If we're going on a yes/no decision here: no. I enjoyed it enough to finish the game, and it's more or less what I'd expect out of a pokemon game, but it was thoroughly alright.
It somehow feels even easier than the last gen (which is impressive) both in how to gain experience as well as the puzzles throughout the game, the storyline was more memorable than some but ultimately lulzy, and while the open world was neat and the scenery was nice I'm not really an open world game person and it was a little buggy (not as much as before all the patches but it was noticeable from time to time).
As it is, the open world thing in Scarlet and Violet sort of worked but also kind of didn't. To make the gyms make sense, you still pretty much had expected places to go where you'd get scared off by either obstacles you can't get past without beating a titan or pokemon that can kill you. So, you almost had 'routes' anyway and certainly an expected order to things. Not being attacked by rattatata all the time was nice, but at the same time, you had pokemon running at you when all you wanted to do was stand there. Having the three storylines simultaneously (the gyms, the big mystery of the game, the Team Rocket thing) sort of worked but also to me made each of them kind of flatter so as to accommodate them not being connected in any way.
Not sure why Nemona wants to battle you all the time, guess she has issues with her parents. Sure, I guess someone should beat up those Team Star nerds so they actually go back to school, but doesn't really feel all that important and shouldn't this be your job Mr. Principal? Sorry about your dog, Arvan.
I also wasn't really a fan of the gimmick of the game: the raid battles or terralyzing (whatever it's called). Now, it's less dumb than some of the other gimmicks we've seen, but I wasn't even a fan of mega evolution so in general I don't love the trend of having a new gimmick every game and going "it's different! You love it!" when I don't.
That said, the pokemon games aren't made for me, they're made for eight-year-olds where this is one of their first serious games (where they're expected to be able to read/problem solve/etc.) and they enjoy a nice story about uh friendship. While I enjoy the harder earlier gen games more (which also had slightly more edge in their stories) this clearly is the direction they want the game to go where it's much more accessible.
It was better than some of the other recent releases (I didn't finish Sword/Shield because I got bored, and Sun/Moon I didn't even get as far as that) but to me it's still far below the quality of Gen 1-3 (where for me it's all been downhill since then).
I do find the story though in this one (from your task of beating up bullied children to Arvan's dead robot dad being the worst) hilarious. But I'm not sure if that makes a good game, it just made me laugh.
Am I a Regular
Yup, started Pokemon Yellow, somehow been here ever since. That said, each time a new one comes out I ask myself if I'm really going to get it since my enjoyment has gone progressively downhill each game, but so far I've kept doing it.

Let’s talk about Swadloon!
Tumblr media
I’ve always held a lot of affinity for this Pokemon. Swadloon is the middle-stage evolution for the 3-stage evolution line of Sewaddle as its first stage, and Leavanny as its final stage.
It starts as a pretty standard, but still solid, first-stage bug Pokemon in Sewaddle. But then, once Sewaddle evolves, it becomes this cocoon-like creature. Its said that Swadloon nestles into its blankets to stay warm, and eats fallen leaves instead of hunting out fresh leaves from trees. This imagery greatly resembles the stereotypical hikikomori. It is not just Swadloon’s design which supports this, either. Leavanny’s Japanese name, Hahakomori (ハハコモリ), is only two kana away from the term; seemingly a pun on hikikomori, ha (葉, leaf), haha (母, mother), and komori (子守, babysitting).
Hikikomori (ひきこもり or 引きこも) is a Japanese term, used to describe young adults or adolescents who are extreme recluses. They are unable to work or go to school for months or years at a time, and isolate themselves socially, completely. The problem of hikikomori; and, relatedly, school refusers, or futōkō (不登校); is considered a big issue in Japan. However, stigma in Japan around psychiatric disorders is still strong. This extends to hikikomori, because it implies that the person in question is under extreme psychological distress (as supported by accounts from ex-hikikomori), and because hikikomori is sometimes classified as a disorder.
Now. Keep this in mind, and think about how Swadloon; this withdrawn, swaddled-up Pokemon; evolves into Leavanny, who is noted for its deep caring for not only its own children, but all smaller Pokemon around it; a deeply sociable and loving Pokemon.
How is it that Swadloon evolves into Leavanny again?
Oh, that’s right. Swadloon evolves into Leavanny via friendship.
If you take the time to befriend Swadloon, and show it kindness, it will evolve and, in turn, come out of its shell and pass that kindness forward to others around it.
What a kind message. And it comes to us in the form of a creature who looks like this.

You know with Pokemon leaning more into Parents as Antagonist/Villains, I'd love for them to explore different types of Bad Parents. Because the bad parents that have gotten the focus (Giovanni, Ghetsis, Lusamine, Sada/Turo) pretty much fall under the criminal neglect/manipulative/controlling/abusive category. And while these are fantastic topics to cover...they've kind of been done a lot for the series. And there's definitely a lot more types of bad parents than just those and they have really good narrative potential in a Pokemon game. I'd love for them for example to really expand on the overprotective parent. We've seen this a bit with Wally's Family (due to his respiratory condition) and Bianca with her father but it ends up being resolved rather quickly within the main story. I feel like the Overprotective Parent can work well as the basis of an entire villainous team of well-meaning but very over-bearing helicopter parents who are trying to prevent kids from going on journeys because it's either "Too Dangerous" (Since we know from both Legends and SV that people can die from being attacked by Pokemon) or "To Protect Kids from Failure from having their dream crushed" (there is a common theme among rivals about having their dreams take a shift after constantly losing to the player...and there are many parents who just don't take kindly to the idea of their kids failing and being hurt by said failures). Basically a reverse-Team Plasma. What's great is that this team can follow the trend of recent villainous teams not being straight up evil...but more misguided. You can definitely work the plot of it the founders of the team maybe having been crushed by their own failures and in the misguided parenting are trying to protect their kids from that. If we want to get dark maybe they know someone (their sibling or another child of theirs) was seriously hurt/killed by Pokemon and they really don't want a repeat. The Overprotective Parent also works as just a standalone. This is one of the areas where I'm really hoping BW gets ORAS style remakes because I want them to explore Bianca and her father's storyline in a deeper manner.
I'd also love to see a parent that tries to live through the rival vicariously. They see their child has some potential in battling (or another thing if they bring back sidequests like Contests, Pokestar Studios or Pokeathlons) and because they (for whatever reason) couldn't be what they wanted, they decide to push their kid into becoming that to the point the kids starts to lose interest (or perhaps want a different career path entire). Personally I'd love to see the plot be the kid wants to be whatever it is they're good at, but their parent's ambitions and demands for perfectionism sucks the joy from them and they have to regain their passion independent of their parents. There's a lot of potential for growth in the parent with this one as maybe by the post game the parent stops badgering their kid and they themselves attempt to restart their hobby as a trainer/coordinator/etc. It's important for parents to know that they can still pursue their dreams even with children it just takes balance and not living vicariously through others. One that would be really interesting to see is the parent who thinks dealing with Pokemon (let alone training them) is a pointless and doesn't think their child should want to do the same, despite the kid clearly wanting to go on a journey themselves. We've seen a bit in Legends people not wanting to deal with Pokemon (granted this was a bit more out of fear rather than complete disinterest) and we've seen in the anime kids who weren't interested in Pokemon (Chloe/Koharu early on most notably but also some COTDs in early seasons). I think it's something the games could really use for a character. Like it's refreshing to see characters not necessarily be gungho about Pokemon themselves (let alone battling) and it'd be interesting to see how in a modern timeline that could cause conflict in how the kid deals with not having their parent's support in a "I don't give a f*** about your interest type of way and you shouldn't either". This would be really good for an older rival NPC whose parents feel like their ambition to be a trainer is worthless, partly because they personally don't see any value in Pokemon, but also because they see the notion of going on a journey to be something naive kids do, and as a older teenager/young adult they should be focused on trying to find a proper profession. This is one path that could involve the parent learning to like Pokemon in the end. Honestly though, I'd be okay if the end result is that they still personally don't care about Pokemon or training, but they become more supportive of the character because they realize that their child is their own person and are allowed to have different opinions and aspirations. I just really hope they branch out from the neglect/abuse path because while very important topics there's others ways parents can be not great and those deserve spotlight

There's no way to sugarcoat this, Drayton and Kieran act like bitter exes that went through a really bad breakup and use the player to get back at each other, with Kieran wanting to move on and Drayton wanting to get back together with him(he really sucks at communication though).
Seriously though, Drayton and Kieran have a lot of paralells in canon that imply they at least are supposed to be complementary to each other. Examples of this include:
Their designs(Drayton has golden eyes, white on purple hair and a black jacket, Kieran has yellow eyes, black on purple hair and a white jacket)
Not having highlights on their eyes(temporarily in the case of Kieran)
Similar tastes in food
Wearing the same kind of tank top
Their hometowns either being similar or direct opposites to one another
Their ace Pokemon being next to each other in the Pokedex and allegedly meant to resemble Black City and White Forest respectively
Not only that, but they seem to have similar pasts as well, being part of a famous lineage in their hometown, then getting rejected by the one they admire most in favor of an extremely talented foreign prodigy who understands Pokemon's hearts better than they ever did.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This imo really seemed like Drayton was speaking from personal experience, to drive home the emotional understanding they could have. Maybe that's why he's been held back for 3 years? A mix of being burnt out, running away from his family and giving up on himself, submitting to being a slacker since he's already the black sheep anyway.
Bonus sketch of the epilogue Drayton/Kieran dynamic in a nutshell:

Thoughts on the Celestica People
I should probably preface this by admitting that I am not part of any marginalized group, nor particularly well-informed on issues concerning such, but I feel like some really interesting discourse concerning Pokemon Legends Arceus is being left by the wayside.
What we know about the Celestica is pretty sparse, so let me lay out a few points of interest:
The Celestica had some sort of relationship with Arceus; the exact nature of this relationship is unclear.
"To grief [they] f[e]ll" - some unknown tragedy befell the Celestica, and some of their people "quit their hearths, abandon[ed] hall," and when all of the Celestica are truly gone, "this land [Hisui] will be a home to none."
The Diamond and Pearl clans are from elsewhere, and took the name Celestica for themselves.
We know each clan worships it's own god, of time or space, but not why or how this came to be.
There are a ton of gaps in the narrative here, but there are some things that we can reasonably conclude. At best, the Celestica were written over by the people that took their name. At worst, the clans were active colonizers that directly contributed to the ruin of the native people.
Of the two, I find the second option considerably more likely; Hisui is a harsh region, and the game beats that fact into us over and over again throughout the course of the narrative. Resources are scarce, Alphas are terrifying, and no one trusts anyone not part of their group.
Which brings me to Volo; Volo, who knows the name Arceus. Volo, who is descended from the ancient Sinnoh people. Volo, who has apparently experienced something so horrible that resetting the world feels like a good idea.
There's a pretty awful conclusion to be drawn here, though how dark you'd like to make it is all up to you.
So let's jump right into pure speculation!
I find it really interesting that the clans each worship a different god, and neither one is the true Almighty SInnoh. While one might conclude that the clans took inspiration from the Celcestica statues, I have a different theory that ties into the above.
I think the clans once knew Dialga and Palkia by name and worshiped them directly, while the Celestica only worshiped Arceus. The clans absolutely have a history of animosity, but I believe it was much worse in the past - I think it was, at some point, all out war. And when their worshipers called, Dialga and Palkia answered.
Arceus, on the other hand, has a much more hands-off policy than His children. The ruins we see around Hisui aren't just weathered by time - parts of them have been destroyed. The only untouched places are Snowpoint Temple, located deeply in the regions most inhospitable climate, and the Temple of Sinnoh, which would have been sacred to both clans anyway.
And this ties neatly back in to what we know of Volo - why he needs to meet Arceus, why he is so desperate for answers. He isn't asking only on behalf of himself, but for his people as a whole. His obsession with ruins isn't only about knowledge, but about connection.
Yeah, it's just a kids game and I may be reading far deeper than intended into it, but I live for discourse and theorizing. At the very least, I think Volo's character has been done a disservice by ignoring his heritage and what it might mean for the lore as a whole. A number of things fall into place after only a bit of thought.

.... pkmn eggs and the matrix
so
blame @quicksilverlightning, #1, though i think my specific brand of brainrot is the problem
Today I Learned That
there's a theory about humans laying eggs in pokemon, which, first of all - *drivethru employee reaction*
Tumblr media Tumblr media
and in my bid to rationalize it back to comfy "everything is born via chanseys and thats beautiful"
my brain also supplied:
What the games and shows use the image/concept of Eggs as placeholders?
as in, the egg is 'real' so long as you're in the world's matrix but if you look past/escape it you'd see that you're actually carrying around a big glass tank with, uh, a fetus in it
see i have this pet theory (and i say this as someone who has played exactly one pokemon game) that the pokemon world is a game that knows its a game; but its still "real" to itself -- hence why people diegetically tell you to press x to whatever
and that theory is all wrapped up in the Unown being a magic system but thats for another day
so
if someone in-world were to break out of the matrix, for whatever reason
say, Volo, for example
(@onestepbackwards im lookin at you, though there's no expectation to engage of course)
.... they would be subjected to some pretty horrifying shit, the kind that you see in those hyperrealist pokemon drawings, but also the reality of eggs; the nature of their gods; the actual reality of death; and anything else the matrix has been hiding (for example, how protein is acquired >.>)
..... they'd be pretty fucked up about it, yeah?
maybe want to change it? so fucked up that they'd do just about anything to succeed, and really really really hate the being recognized as the creator of all... that
and... if that creator knew they'd be doing this, it would do a fair few things to stop (him), such as skyfalling a kid to fix things, or even have built in safety measures
like a character that tells that kid how to fix things; a character who recognizes and resents (Volo) for wanting to change things/going against the creator
.... like Cogita?

Geeta and Paldea Discussion
Really random thought, but as a sort of counter to Geeta being a bad top champion/chairwoman, I feel like it's important to point out that Paldea is quite the paradise. Each town is filled with life and activity, and presumably the gyms and the Academy's treasure hunt program is what made it the way it is economically. I don't think it'd be impossible to say that Paldea was not like this when she first took over, and it's years of her hard work to change things.
It's said the gym leaders were all handpicked by Geeta, and I think any of these cities success would be attributed to her hard work into changing Paldea for the better.
If we need more tangible indicators, I feel like the Elite 4 battleground being the most sparse battle area speaks volumes as to where her and thus the league's priorities lie. It's about the rest of Paldea's development and improvement, they get the most funding for building up the space into something fun and enriching. At the ace tournament, Geeta also reveals that she had a hand in designing the Academy library renovations, so she very much invests into bettering Paldea/The Academy as a whole.
I do enjoy the headcanon of her actually being a great champion/leader, pushing her coworkers. The quips/hatred towards her feels like fan interpretations being overstretched, not to say she is beloved, but I think the league and it's gym leaders of this region work together better than other gens. And I adore the thought that they have a decent camraderie...
Afaik Geeta runs a tight ship, doing inspections, making the rounds, talking to locals, to students... She's probably a workaholic herself, stretching thinly across the region haha.
Also, another point to her: Assuming she was the leader when the other Academy Director was in power, she likely helped oversee the complete reshuffling/changing of staff... getting someone as dedicated as Clavell, pulling gym leaders she trusts (Tyme) etc to the Academy. She can't micromanage and solve every problem, but i do feel she'd be warmly pleased at hearing the Director's "greatest treasure" resonating with her own... and also the dedication he has to act as Clive LOL. Clavell also helps out with Iono's stream to repay the League once, so I assume it to be true that Geeta has done much to improve the Academy.
There's also things like: Hassel, the guy being harassed by his family. I am sure Geeta would know about it, and the fact that Hassel is both E4 + art teacher feels very much like "Don't touch him, he's Paldea's". Power moveeee. Adore the headcanon of Geeta being very defensive of keeping him as Paldea's, any move from the dragon tamers has political ramifications...
Grusha... iirc has some beef? Idk. Nothing jumps out to me in memory beyond fan interpretations. I like seeing his role as gym leader actually being something of a Geeta pushing him into something after a devastating career blow.
I've already discussed Larry before in another post (His gym being his favourite restaurant is already quite telling that all the gym leaders get plenty of support for their work lol). Tulip's jealousy over her? Just feels in character for her personality but I don't think she means it too much lol.
The only thing that's probably a big glaring mistake is allowing professor Turo/Sada to continue experiments, presumably without supervision. It might've been possible that oversight occured.. or the professor was able to shirk off suspicion so long as they spared the crystals for making tera orbs. Kinda like an operation where they go "You only need me down here to help you harvest the crystals.", the time machine secretly being the focus. The academy/league funded labs were abandoned, one can assume they'd taken their hands off maintaining it, the only valuable thing left is extracting the crystals for Tera orbs. Little did they know the professors obsession... hence the concern/fear the professor's had when the miraidon/Koraidon were seen in public. Their little undercover operation was at risk of being found out.
Combined with the concept of Geeta focusing on the rest of Paldea after the Tera Orb discovery (I like to think she was appointed just shortly after it or very early during it), one professor being down in the crater managing Crystal extraction doesn't seem like a huge priority...
Anyway, those are my rambly all over the place thoughts for Geeta and her role in Paldea lol. Top champion isn't just being the strongest, it's very much a leadership role with influence on people's livelihoods. She's doing a fine job of it, if Paldea is so damn idyllic. I doubt the game will give us these answers or depth, but fjdhsjs Geeta is probably kinder/more empathetic/caring than most fans make her out to be.

There are 11 female player characters with bare thighs. 3 of these have gone through multiple redesigns with the release of remakes, and none of their designs ever have covered thighs.
There is 1 male player character with bare thighs. This is beause he and the female player have the same outfit.

Of the two female player characters who do not have bare thighs, one is wearing tights/leggings underneath a pair of shorts which do not reach the knee, the other is wearing tights/leggings underneath a skirt which does not reach the knee.
Of the 11 male player characters, counting the redesigns, 7 have at one point had trousers, 4 have had shorts, and 3 have had shorts with leggings underneath.
Of the 4 male player characters wearing shorts, all except 1 of them have shorts which reach to or below the knee. This is the character who wears the same clothes as the female player character.

Concept: Pokemon villain that has a team of 6 over-leveled Golbat.
This would indicate to a savvy player that, despite the amount of time / number of battles it would take to level up all those Pokemon, the villain never managed to befriend a single one of them.
Something that is practically only possible through extensive cruelty.

What are Pokemon lifespans? Are they all the same since they're all Pokemon? Or are they different like animals? Does evolution change any of this?
We have seen that Pokemon can die (the tower cemeteries show that), and I'm pretty positive we've seen elderly people mourning their Pokemon who've died of natural causes--not from battling, sickness, etc. So, they do die of old age like any normal pet.
But does evolution change this? Is a Pichu's lifespan only 10 years while a Pikachu is 20 (just random years)? If you evolve an older Pichu--one that's 8--does it get extra life, or does it still pass earlier than a Pichu who evolved at 1 years old?
Where do ghost Pokemon fit into this? Can a Gastly die of old age? Can it even die from battle or status?
