As much as I love the absolute symmetry of Nobori being born the moment Ingo disappears, somewhere there probably is a version of the reincarnation AU where he’s just... the exact same age as Ingo and Emmet. He’s been living a chill, low-key life in Sinnoh, when all of a sudden he’s SLAMMED by memories of his past life the moment Ingo disappears in Unova. As soon as he sorts his thoughts together, he’s on the next flight to Unova.
Cue Emmet in the middle of the early days of Ingo’s disappearance, frantic but not yet spiraling. He’s at home when he hears the sound of someone unlocking the door- Nobori remembers where they hid their spare key- and he leaps to his feet, expecting it to be Ingo, but it’s... a man he’s never seen before? But before he can get a word in edgewise, the man is basically tackled by an affectionate Chandelure.
And Emmet just squints like... “Ingo????”
“Actually it’s been Nobori for the past twenty-five years, but... yes.”
(Emmet.exe has crashed.)

I saw in the tags that Cynthia sees Kieran making handmade pokeballs on a forum thanks to Drayton, would she recognize Kieran as Akari from the history books? Like, is it a known thing in this au that Kieran and Ingo are time travelers?
(from the Not question bombarder) [lol]
I feel like Cynthia as the Champion of Sinnoh was made aware of the Hisui situation by Interpol so she met Ingo and Kieran when they got back. They just kind of showed up in the wilderness of modern Mt. Coronet and the resulting rift caused an Issue with the local pokemon. A few rangers and Candice had to get involced and she reported it to the league. So yeah Cynthia showed up to see if its a Situation that needs to be handled.
Kieran was very wary of her initially (because of Volo) so she just thought them a very shy kid put into a terrible situation. She was definitely excited by some of the stuff on their person though, like the flutes, the warden bracelet, their pokeballs, not to mention their teams because omg those are extinct what egg group are they we can revive and entire species! But her conversations with them were very surface level and professional.
So ofc when she sees some video of someone hand making pokeballs using techniques artisians had been trying to recreate for years (yes Cynthia lurks on archaic forums populated by really old men and amateur historians. Do you know how many middle aged women she gave relationship advice to as a 13 year old? She is that meme) she's so excited, then she catches a glimpse of the person's face and its Akari!? She gave them her number just in case and they never used it so you know she's calling Iris asap asking if she can fly over to Unova with some craftsmen for a live demonstration, please she's begging.
But also yeah they're recognized as time travelers, more so Ingo than Kieran because Ingo is very distinct looking with his outfit and poses. Akari and Rei were more the ones actually doccumenting the things so they never really visually showed up in recovered photographs like say, Laventon did.
It would be really cute if Cynthia ran an exhibit on Rei though, at Kieran's request. An exhibit highlighting the main artist for the first pokedex and his further contributions to Laventon's research! Not to mention all the notes and research Kieran themself had on hand when they got back. Suddenly Kieran is considered an expert in field research during whatever specific time period that is. Considering they made a majority of the observations Laventon needed...
You've heard of Cynthia fans, now get ready for Cynthia, the number 1 Akari hype woman. Two examples of living breathing history with so much knowledge of the time period when recreational battling became a !!! Someone needs to remind her that she has League responsibilities lol. Let Cynthia cook!!!! She will slip Ingo a slice of the pizza he so craves if he lets her run a spectroscopy on his warden bracelet.

AU of the Submas Wanted AU Idea: Double Down.
Following the egg incident and the clearing of Ingo and Akari’s names but during the period they still hiding in the wilderness, people start leaving gifts as bait to draw out the framed ferals as usual.
This is where it starts to deviate.
Some on the researchers escaped arrest when the truth was revealed, and to get some sick revenge they start trapping the gifts they find.
Poison, various blades in the food, net launchers, etc.
This is after Ingo and Akari have already started finding these gifts, still skeptical of them being traps.
One of them turns out to be a bomb, which the pair are saved from by Lady Sneasler. It causes them to no longer trust the gifts, and instead causing them to flee deeper into the wilds to try and escape their non-existent pursuers.
Eventually one of the police catches one of the vengeful researchers in the act, and is arrest accordingly.
Word begins to spread of people trapping the gifts. Some stop setting them out in fear of them getting trapped, others try and slightly hide them in an effort to still help, giving the opposite effect. Emmet and Elesa and the others trying to try and draw them back out are panicking and the New Galaxy Team are out for blood.
The wanted posters are switched out for missing posters, an even higher bounty than before.
The cops start patrolling the areas the gifts are planted to try and catch the researchers in the act or simply apologize to the pair. The gym leaders, Cynthia, New Galaxy, Interpol with Looker, the Pokémon Rangers, Bounty Hunters, companions the pair me on the run, and various Sinnoh search and rescue teams (who have scarcely similar uniforms to the police) are desperately trying to find and save them.
The media is in a voracious inferno of panic, theorizing, and searching.
Of course this doesn’t exactly help with their paranoia, causing them to think the initial chase was weaker due to a lack of attention, and that now they have almost the entire region out for them.
They start hiding in more and more remote locations in an attempt to escape those they think are after them.
It eventually makes it to a final confrontation on Spear Pillar, the last place they can hide and the last place in Sinnoh that people haven’t looked.
I’ll let you finish the rest.
(This AU is amazing. I read this thing top to bottom and I am HOOKED.)
Thank you so much!!
Alright, so I’m finally chipping away at writing the beginning, so I haven’t had too much time to focus around this area of the plot, but there is a solid week or so between when the Eggs are attempted to be stolen from them and when little baby Peanut hatches too early. And in that Time frame there is a tornado of spin going on in the media on what exactly happened to the eggs/in that confrontation.
Just because some members of the research lab attempted to steal the eggs and put them in jeopardy doesn’t mean the entire lab is to blame for a few bad apples. They’ll claim that those particular employees were not even properly trained to handle pokemon eggs, but took the chance to rescue them anyway against higher-ups recommendation.
So, while the lab has lost some face in that whole debacle, it won’t be enough to damn them completely to the public who are not as invested. It won’t be until after Ingo risks absolutely everything to save a premature tiny baby that they truly start to loose the public favor. More people start sympathizing with Ingo and trying to see his side of the story which leads to them finding the holes in the labs.
Also, until such time that Ingo and Akari are properly brought in and questioned by the cops their names will not be in the clear. There are too many questions surrounding them for them. They may have the peoples growing support, but the cops are determined to bring them in and get their answers. Remember, Belladonna has been weaseling her way into the Police pockets much like Cyrus most likely did.
And like, booby trapped shit like that is definitely one of the methods from contracted thugs Belladonna called in. There are two methods of attack the Lab is doing, the public attack of character along with sending out their own staff, like Mint, to help in the search and rescue, and the behind the scenes attacks of hired criminals who are using underhanded methods to track down Ingo and Akari , lead by the enforcer Bash.
The former are lab assistants and office workers in lab coats and ties, sending out lower level pokemon, with Mint being the recurring battler who refuses to give up. The latter are the more darkly dressed aggressive challengers with higher level pokemon and do not identify themselves as part of the lab. They just come off as another group of people who are trying to steal the Pokémon.
So, Spear Pillar might be where they start when they arrive in the future. So them going back to it to get away from the folks chasing them would be a good idea. And a big confrontation there would be a great idea too, really would make it feel like for them no place is safe.
So what I’m doing right now, aside from writing the beginning, is trying to get every plot point that I currently written down in a clear order. Spear Pillar in a great addition, but when it takes place is the question.
It could be the place they run to before the lab folks ambush them and the eggs are stolen. It then becomes a mad dash down the mountain to take them back. That once sacred place being where the eggs were stollen would really hurt Ingo and Akari’s sense of security.
I’m still figuring it out though, so this idea might change!

I really like your Ingo ends up as a Sneasel in Unova AU. How does Emmet find out the Sneasel is Ingo? And what other stuff goes down in this AU?
*Excited wiggles* Oh I am so glad you asked. (Please note I'm taking some creative liberties with how Poke-world works. Also, this got long...)
The answer is DNA. That's how Emmet learns Ingo is, well, Ingo!
(It sounds weird, I know, but I have put THOUGHT into this.)
The people he rescued Ingo from were... Basically, poachers (or illegal Pokémon dealers? Basically Not Good People) who hurt Ingo kinda bad while trying to trap/catch him.
Normally, most trainers would just take an injured Pokémon they found to a Pokémon Center. But since Emmet is dealing with a sneasel that doesn't look normal and was being hunted by criminals, he decides taking it to a normal Center is not a safe idea. So he takes Sneasel!Ingo to a Pokémon Hospital instead.
(Because they probably have those, like how some vets are clinics and others are actual hospitals.)
It means taking him into the city but also lowers the chance of someone trying to track him down again. (Police/Rangers are also notified because criminals in the forest where he found the little guy are something they should know about.)
The docs run tests and one of them is on this weird Sneasel's DNA, to figure out typing/health things they might need to deal with.
But when the tests come back, they find human DNA mixed with the pokemon DNA.
At first, they think someone wasn't careful with the samples and redo them. Except they keep coming back with the mix.
Someone finally goes "Okay, who the heck is this person we keep getting??" and tries entering it into a database of people. By pure chance, this database is also linked to the "Missing Persons" database for Unova.
And it comes back as Ingo.
Repeatedly.
Because they double and triple check this going "What on Arceus' green earth is going on here??" Even going so far as asking Emmet to bring something of Ingo's in so they can check and make sure their database isn't glitching/going screwy. (Still comes back the same.)
So, the only conclusion that can be drawn is that, somehow, the Hisuian Sneasel that Emmet brought in is Ingo. Someone who's been missing for several years now. (Or at least has his DNA in it.)
[Side note: Did you know that, irl, a missing person can’t be declared dead until 7 years after they've gone missing? And only if their family actively petitions to have them declared dead? If you didn't, now you do.]
Emmet is speechless when they pull him aside to tell him this, but they have proof, so he can't deny it.
His brother has, somehow, been turned into a pokemon. And considering the wear and tear on his clothes, especially his hat/coat, it's not hard to imagine that he's been stuck like this in the wild for a while now.
Now Emmet is the one who has to figure out what to do about this.
There is more, but I’ll leave off here to keep this answer from getting too long for people to read.

OKAY FINE YOU WIN, YOU STUPID, BEAUTIFUL BRAT. More Melli in Unova AU
SO. Been thinking about Melli and pokeballs. And how Diamond and Pearl Clan Do Not Use Them, only then Melli went to the future for eight months (his time) and finally had to break down and start using them about five months into his stay there, meaning he and his team (Skuntank, Golbat, and Drapion) had time to get used to using them, learn the advantages and disadvantages in a fairly safe environment, come to terms with the fact that the benefits outweigh the negatives, and that stupid Ingo was right.
Except then he goes home, back to his own time and clan, who, again, Do Not Use Pokeballs, on the grounds that they waste the time of the pokemon that reside within them and are a sin in the eyes of almighty Sinnoh/Dialga as a result. So there is instant, very strong pressure on Melli the moment he returns to get rid of those pokeballs, because this is completely unacceptable behaviour, especially for a warden. Ingo got a bit of a pass due to being a weirdo outsider who also happened to be a pokemon genius, but Melli was born and raised with the Diamon Clan, he’s only been gone a month (as far as they know) and he should Know Better.
And, still feeling disoriented and very wrong-footed from his experiences, Melli finally caves under the pressure from the rest of his clan, especially the elders, and the agreement reached is that he’ll destroy Skuntank, Drapion, and Golbat’s pokeballs in a public display and atonement in the Diamond Clan settlement. He does manage to argue that Toxel be allowed to keep hers, at least for now, on the grounds that she’s very young and also completely tame, having been bred in captivity in a foreign region, and she needs it for now for her own safety. The other three have to go, though.
So a good chunk of the clan is gathered, there’s a small platform made with a table on it so that everyone can see what he’s doing, Melli climbs up with his main three (Adaman has Toxel and her ball for safekeeping for the moment), and he gets ready to go through with this. He’s got a big rock and everything, yes hammers were an option, but this is more dramatic and Melli has sinned, he doesn’t get to do this the easy way. He’s talked to his pokemon about what’s going to happen ahead of time, and now he makes a formal, public apology to them and to his clan and to Almighty Sinnoh for betraying the tenets they live their lives by and for this waste of precious time that he has caused. He lifts the rock, all ready to carry through with this-
-and Skuntank bumps him in the knees, knocking him over sideways, Drapion returns herself to her pokeball, Golbat swoops down to grab her and Drapion’s balls in her feet, Skuntank grabs his own in his mouth, and they book it. A moment’s shock and then Melli’s vaulting over the table, off the platform, and sprinting after them, shouting that this isn’t funny, it’s disrespectful, this is not what we talked about-!!!
It would be a merry chase, except for the chaos, so really it’s much more Saturday morning cartoon than it has any right to be, given that Saturday morning cartoons haven’t been invented yet. Finally some help from Adaman and Melli’s fellow rangers gets his wayward pokemon cornered, and Melli just stomps over, very red and disheveled from the chase, and has something of a public temper tantrum because this was utterly humiliating for him, that they disobeyed him so publicly like this, he’s already unhappy about being forced, why are you making it harder-???
Skuntank, looking very chastised, waddles over and deposits his pokeball at Melli’s feet, Drapion pops back out of her pokeball on her own looking repentant, and Golbat returns her and Drapion’s balls as well. This knocks the wind right out of Melli’s sails as he looks down at his very unhappy pokemon, then looks at the balls that he spent hours carefully making for each of them, and that he probably customized so they were each distinct because it’s Melli and he would. And then he kneels down and apologizes to his pokemon again, quieter this time, no grand-standing like he’d been doing before, for not properly asking how they felt about this whole situation, whether they were unhappy with their pokeballs or wanted to keep them, for letting himself get caught up in village affairs to his team’s detriment. This was never something he should have treated as solely his choice, they made the choice to get the balls together, they should have made the choice to get rid of them together. What do they want to do?
It’s probably the most humble most of the clan has ever seen Melli act since he first started his ‘the Great Melli’ routine, and needless to say everyone who’s made it to this point is watching very, very closely.
So they all see Skuntank and Drapion give Melli very firm, happy head bumps of approval and get hugs in return, and this is the moment that Golbat freaking evolves into Crobat (much to Melli’s shock because, as stated in prior posts, he has no idea what just caused that), and then all three of them return to their pokeballs of their own volition. Melli just sits there for a moment, then gathers the balls up, reattaches them to his belt, and announces, “Lord Dialga had nothing to say on this matter when he and Lord Palkia aided in my return home, when He had all the time He needed to do so and I made no move to hide them. If you have any further concerns, you make take them up with Him.”
Then he collects Toxel and her pokeball from a frankly stunned Adaman and stalks off to his home to get cleaned up.

Explanation of AU (will contain potential spoilers):
(This AU blends the Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum games somewhat, as well as adds some things from the anime and manga here and there. Other games both mainline and side series might be mentioned at some point. Later leads into an altered plotline for Legends Arceus.)
The timeline of games is also slightly shaken up, with a game or two happening either earlier or later in the timeline than their release order.)
In a world where Aspects- beings who are both Legendary Pokemon and human- exist, things go a bit differently than in a world without them.
The trio from Twinleaf is more involved with the events surrounding Team Galactic, Lucas and Barry following Dawn as she clashes with them. They help her take them down and deal with the aftermath of the entire ordeal. After freeing the Lake Spirits from the team, Dawn took on Uxie and became her aspect, Lucas (her twin brother) took on Mesprit, and their childhood friend Barry took on Azelf. The three proceeded to defeat Cyrus atop Mt. Coronet, calming Dialga and Palkia with the help of the Lake Trio they bonded with. However, before Cyrus could attempt something else, Giratina pulled him into the distortion world, catching the trio and the recently arrived Cynthia as well. After battling the enraged Legendary and managing to sooth it with the help of the other two, Giratina sends all but Cyrus back to where they belong, though it seemed solemn upon parting with Dawn.
Several years later, Dawn holds the title of Champion (though Cynthia still takes on most of the duties until she reaches majority), Lucas has become Prof. Rowan’s full time assistant, and Barry has aspirations to join the ranks of Sinnoh’s Battle Facility. The three have slowly recovered from the stress of fighting Team Galactic, and have gained an extended family in the form of Sinnoh’s Elite Four and Cynthia. Things seem to have been going well, but there have been strange reports of people disappearing and unsettling rifts cropping up across the region- and in others. Things come to a head when a high-profile trainer from Unova disappears, leaving behind only his items and his team’s pokeballs. Cynthia leaves to attend to the problem and help investigate since these particular rifts seemed to have spread from Sinnoh, but Dawn and her brothers can’t resist attempting to help despite being warned away from doing so. For two years, nothing concrete is found aside from the fact that the rifts have something to do with space and time, until some hikers disappear from near the summit of Mt. Coronet. Dawn, knowing Cynthia was currently out of the region for a meeting with some of Unova’s league and the Interpol, goes with Barry and Lucas to attempt to evacuate the mountain and try to locate the missing.
After splitting up to cover more ground, Dawn is never seen coming down from the summit. The only things recovered are her bag full of items and her team’s pokeballs.
In the present, two regions are in states of alarm due to the disappearance of two very high profile trainers (and, known only to those aware of Aspects, two Legendaries). Many others are on edge, wary that the same could happen to them as well. People are warned not to approach areas containing rifts or other phenomena like them.
In the past, a young girl feels like she’s missing parts of herself, and finds the strange Warden of Lady Sneasler familiar in a way she can’t explain.

I am loving your conviction au! I’m looking forward to Emmet being like “I will be!!! A pokemon ranger!!!!” And everyone being like “…what’s that?” Lbr, Hisui really, really needs some pokemon rangers, lol.
Also looking forward to more Emmet and Ingo bonding. Correct me if I’m wrong but it looks like Akari and Emmet are on their way to being good friends too! They can moan about how there is no pizza in Hisui together.
im excited for emmet to accept his wild pokemon-wrangling destiny. its unreasonably comedic to me. ingo splitting early in the third chapter was actually unintentional, but it was literally the only way i could think of resolving that scene in a way that felt at all natural. sorry ingo... i prommy more brotherly bonding will happen in the future
idk how involved akari will be with the overall story. shes the protag of the game, so ofc she'll be appearing, but i havent decided if im going to follow the fanon interpretation of "akari also lost her memories/she is purposefully hiding the fact that she remembers things", so ive written her vague on purpose. i also briefly considered doing my own thing, where akari and rei are Dawn and Lucas, and they both arrived at the same time, but then i decided that for the sake of clarity in this au, i'll try to keep the changes submas-specific. or else ill just end up rewriting the entire game and at that point i could just make my own fan region

thinking about the zoroark age thing, i kinda wonder what ingo's plan would've been if emmet and elesa hadn't found out (i know, he was operating on panic mode but STILL, what if). Like if the human body dies a normal old-age death and he the zoroark leaves the body to live a Pokemon life as emmet and elesa mourn. (I kinda wonder how many other zoroarks out there whose human hosts expire and now they are just normal Pokemon who can be caught. Do they immediately find a new human body to continue hiding?) Would he have really left for good or would he have lurked around trying to be surreptitious and haunt his two closest bonds to try to make their lives easier while not letting on he was actually ingo? Would he just have tried to leave everything behind and be another ingo (or maybe a nameless zoroark) without family? Would he just have let himself be caught by them and pretended to be a normal Pokemon or something?
anon I want you to understand that Ingo absolutely does not have a plan for that. He is not thinking about it at all. That's years and years away!!! He'll just... worry about it later. It'll be fine. It'll all work out somehow. No need to worry!
Although this does give me a chance to mention something I haven't talked about before, which is... the re-possessors. Most Zoroark live out their human lives and then live out a second life as a Zoroark. But some... some miss being human too much. Some will literally body snatch- usually an adult human. Usually someone who it would be easy to make disappear and invent a new life for them.
So. If you ever catch flashes of red and white out of the corner of your eye, like you're being followed by something... please head post-haste to the nearest large populated area. Then get as far, far away as you can. Otherwise before you know it, you might not be you anymore.

Ingo gets the hang of social media again, more or less
Across the world, Elesa comes across an account with cute/funny pics of Sneasels and some less known facts about them. She’s in for the cute ones
And I finally got around drawing a kind of ref for Emmet in this au! See below the cut ^^
Tumblr media
He has his moments where he goes non verbal, but it’s usually the opposite. He was just so used to constant words because Ingo always seemed to be talking that, as a way to adjust, Emmet just starts saying whatever crosses his mind to fill the silence.
It makes him feel closer to Ingo, somehow. The results are... mixed, depending on who you ask
Usually works in the Nimbasa Subway, since not a lot of people make it to the Elite Four, never mind him. He tried to combine both a Galvantula and a Chandelure motif in his clothes, and uses both in his team when trainers battle him. His ace, however, is still Eelektross
Elesa finds his new sass hilarious. His outfit choices, on the other hand, just horrendous
