So I reacently got a Gengar, and it has been overly lovey dovey since it evolved. While normally I would be estatic, I am also very cold. Any way I could put in some healthy boundaries?
yeah, the temperature shifts are a big adjustment for a lot of new gengar owners.
the best thing to do would be to establish a cue that means it's okay for it to jump into your shadow for some cuddle time. hopefully it already has a good "wait" cue trained, but if not, that's your first step. any time it tries to jump onto you, give it the wait cue; then, establish a sign that means it's ok to come over. if it jumps in without permission, recall it to its ball for a couple of minutes so it learns that cuddling without permission means no cuddling at all.
make sure to watch your health, too, since gengar drain more life energy than haunter do.

The closest real world equivalent to Pokemon training is falconry.
I've been doing research on falconry for a D&D character, and was surprised to learn that many raptors are caught from the wild in their first year of life. And before anyone clutches their pearls about that, there is a huge benefit to the raptor for this.
Firstly, mortality rates for young raptors in the wild are apparently very high. Falconers give these birds safety and opportunity to practice the skills they need to survive in the wild. Raptors are typically released at the end of a hunting season if they are healthy enough to make it on their own.
Secondly, a partnership with a human is not perpetually forced upon the bird. Once the human and the raptor begin hunting together, the raptor can just leave if the human is doing a poor job of being a hunting partner.
The reason I bring this up is because this symbiotic partnership is what Pokemon training is stated to be in every game, the anime series, and the manga. I see some bad takes about Pokemon training being animal abuse and/or slavery, which can happen in-universe, but isn't what it is meant to be.
It's supposed to be a mutually beneficial partnership. When done right, a Pokemon becomes stronger when partnered with a human.
Now there are differences I feel I'd be remiss not to point out. The obvious being that falconry benefits humans for hunting purposes, where as Pokemon benefit humans by providing them power, which has wider-sweeping implications on it's world. People who abuse falconry these days are mostly doing it for internet clout. (Looking at you, literally every video of somebody petting an owl.)
Also, Pokemon and humans are meant to form strong bonds and become close friends in the Pokemon series. Raptors are generally not meant to become tame and friendly with people. Falconry really only works if the raptor remains like a wild animal.

How exactly do TM’s, HM’s and TR’s work? How can giving a Pokémon a disc teach them a brand new move that they can’t normally learn via level up?
Ok, so there's actually a couple of ways of doing this.
Firstly is the "easy way" where you plug your disk into the Pokedex or PC and let the information on the disk be "beamed" into the pokemon. This doesn't give them the skills to do the move, just the idea and general concept of the move.
The next and more efficient method is to simply watch the Disk and let the pokemon learn by example. This way is way more preferred because unlike the other method, it's easier to grasp the move and feel a sense of accomplishment, if a move is just sent into your brain, you can't explain to someone else what you're trying to do.
Tutors are also great ways to learn and master moves, and we can digitally share info now so Disks are honestly becoming obsolete, but they do hold some value, especially with collectors and old school trainers.

The German shepherd's ear perked when the sound of muffled music could be heard emanating from upstairs. Curious, he stood up and made his way to the source, he was far from surprised when the trail ended at the red fox's door, which just happened to be slightly ajar.
Rolling his eyes and taking a breath to prepare him for anything that may be on the other side, he gently pushed the door open.
Inside he saw the red fox himself wearing nothing but a pair of sunglasses, heart-print boxers, and a graphic t-shirt reading "No Fox Given Today", holding a large flask from which he took generous swings from. The fox was dancing smoothly alongside a Growlithe, a Houndour, and Greavard who were grooving just as deeply, eyes closed and lost in the music with their trainer.
The German shepherd blinked, shrugged, and slowly shut the door behind him, as he headed back downstairs he mumbled to himself.
"Can't say he doesn't spend the time to bond with his team."

When you’re both modeling and designing, sometimes you just want to use your very muppet shaped friends as inspiration.

Tis but the first draft! There are more coats to try.
BONUS:
Elesa added weighted beads to the end of the coats so they swing real good. Yes, the first draft is hand sown, and yes, it was a nightmare. She can and will talk about it given the chance.
Tumblr media
Emmet uses this to his advantage and ✨ flourishes ✨ whenever he walks with it (dramatic coat swish swish my beloved).

Ingo on the other hand appreciates the pressure and just. Burrows. Like a happy drillbur.
And a bonus elesa! Choreography, baby.

Masterpost to the rest of my submas comics!

"Are you waiting on a train?"
You may need to click on the image for better resolution.
Some context for the image under the cut:
It was common for Pokemon and items to slip through the space-time distortions. What made this occasion memorable was that an entire train station platform slipped through during the night.
Akari went to investigate when she heard the report. Despite it being early in the morning, she wasn't the first one to arrive. Ingo was there, sitting on a bench, deep in thought.
"Hey, Ingo," Akari greeted as she sat down beside him, cradling her sleeping Rowlet, "Are you waiting on a train?"
"Good morning, Miss Akari," Ingo said, blinking as if waking from a dream. "I'm afraid no trains will be coming into the station today. The tracks stop after a point, uncoupling this station from its sister stop."
"Maybe they'll be reconnected one day? After we sort out this whole space-time distortion stuff."
"That would be the most favorable outcome, yes."
Ingo relapsed into his thoughts, a shadow cast over him. A hush fell over the trio.
When the sun rose far enough into the sky to burn away some of the fog hanging around the station, Ingo finally stood up and readjusted his worn out hat.
"Let's prepare for departure, Miss Akari! It's an excellent day to make tracks in your journey."
"Yes, let's!" Akari sprang up, eager to start the day.

is it possible (albeit probably very difficult) to teach pokémon like deino not to bite?
that would be like trying to teach a charmander that it can't have a flame on its tail. deino can't see at all, and so until they perfectly learn their surroundings and the scents of people they know, using their mouths is one of the only ways they can understand and feel safe in their environment. you would effectively be taking an entire sense away from them.
a deino can be trained to not bite certain things, such as when they learn to recognize their trainers' scent, but trying to get them not to bite unfamiliar objects in general is unfair to them.

What do I do if my Boltund won't stop screaming at the postman?
The best way to deter behavior like that, in my experience, is to train them to do something else. I'd recommend teaching them to sit or lay down when the postman comes. Or, if you want to have them do something cute, teach them to bring the postman (or yourself) a toy!

My partner Pokémon is Trouble the Snubble. All I can say is that she definitely lives up to her name
Sometimes pokemon might have a difficult personality or might just be a little too curious for their own good.
The best way to combat this is with treat training and positive reinforcement.
If your Snubble has a hard time listening or does things you don't like, instead of punishing her, try rewarding her for the good things she does and ignoring the bad.
They will start to associate the good behaviors with good rewards over attention for the bad attitudes.
It's a solid way of training that get a lot of good results.
Remember that most pokemon learn differently, and you need to be able to adjust and learn exactly what your partners' needs are.

Just an idea
What about yuu with a paradox pokemon becuase of the whole thing about being from different worlds
ooh, I hadn't thought about that, but I like it! like, I think Grim fills the role of Yuu's pokemon (or vice-versa) (somehow) but I kind of love the idea that he's some kind of far-removed Paradox or alternate-timeline version of another pokemon or something. honestly, there would probably be a lot of theories about what exactly he is! mostly it involves throwing a lot of pokeballs at him and seeing what happens.
also just for fun I want to make him slightly more pokemon-proportioned:

(he would still have to be the one who actually battles though)
