Police University. 5
Story: 7
Acting: 10
Chemistry: 6
Comparable to: You’re All Surrounded (kdrama); Rookie Cops (kdrama)
Eh…… I really don’t know about this one. In some ways this drama was okay and I mean just okay. In other ways it completely missed the mark. The storyline for instance is not really there at all. It’s supposed to be a crime thriller mystery I think, but unfortunately the whole situation from the university to the crimes is way far fetched and it seems it has plot holes so don’t even try to make that much sense out of it, nothing really connects together, in the beginning it might have one thing then 10 episodes later the ?writer? changed the whole situation so it’s completely different. So yeah this drama isn’t perfect by a long shot, but overall it does have a couple of nice moments too.

I like how NPMD makes the points:
1. The presence of bullying and social hierarchies don’t just hurt the victims and those lower in the hierarchy, but in fact everyone within the framework, and should be dismantled by any means necessary
2. The animosity and rivalry of jocks and nerds is ultimately a fabrication of those who wish to hurt others, and a healthy relationship between people with differing interests is both good morally and helpful for all parties
And 3. Given the slightest, even manufactured, excuse, the Police will immediately assault random people.

New BANA anon back again! :) I finished the D+ B1A4 documentary a couple weeks ago (after having to keep pausing for my sad little heart) and I was bawling along with them when Shinwoo started talking/crying, with Gongchan and Sandeul in the back 🥺 (Side note: I saw an unsubbed clip of it on YouTube before you sent me subbed links and already got teary-eyed despite not understanding a word of what they were saying.) I’m proud of them for pushing through, and I really wish kpop fans would give them more attention/credit. Sad bc I feel like since the split their social media following has gone down…? And you know, their military enlistment and the pandemic I feel like have hindered them a bit. :( Ngl, I’m also a liiiittle bit salty looking at Jinyoung’s 2mil follower count…
I’ve been OBSESSED with Adore You the last couple of weeks—it’s so SO good and I wish more people would listen to it. THE FEELS listening/watching the MV!! (Could also be bc I was still v much emotional after watching the documentary haha). But I seriously feel like this song is such an underrated gem?! (…much like B1A4?? Just how popular were they in their peak? I tried looking for Twitter/Instagram/YouTube stats from 2014/2018 but social media was kind of different in 2014 I feel like so idk if I really figured anything out lol)
I wasn’t sure I liked Origine at first (at initial listening, after really loving their earlier albums—OT5 era—I felt like I was missing “something” listening to Origine…prob bc I discovered them after liking Baro in Youth Over Flowers Laos and maybe his deeper voice and raps are the “somethings” I was missing), BUT the whole album has really grown on me now, and I feel like it’s still “them” if that makes sense..
I’m a bit bummed that I discovered them “late” (I’ve never really been into k-pop like this… tho I’ve liked some songs from 2009-2012 girl groups), it would’ve been so much fun following them along during their earlier years (esp. 2013/2014) and fangirling with everyone else online! But I’m also kinda low key excited about their upcoming anniversary THIS SATURDAY (!!) now that I’m a fan?!??
What’s your fav album(s)? Sharing mine as well:
Full Album:
1. Who Am I (my no-skips fav!! And I’m in love with the scarf choreography in Lonely)
2. Good Timing (love SO many songs from here including the title track and If/When It Snows)
Mini Album:
1. Solo Day (my no-skip fav! Mul hanjan!)
2. Sweet Girl (another no-skip fav..)
I read somewhere (here? idk) that Sweet Girl was a bit alienating to some bc it supposedly was a bit different from their usual, but I love all the songs personally, though I prob need to give the hidden track a few more chances. I also LOVE that Baro actually sings at the beginning of Wait!! I wish they had made him sing a bit more throughout his time with the group despite being their main rapper… Even when he sang his little part in that get to know b1a4 song from MTV’s Match Up, it sounded like he’s got a voice that just needed to be trained more so he could sing more confidently? Was he just really solely interested in rapping?)
Anyway, THANK YOU for reading through my ramblings. I don’t really have anyone to talk with about them 😅 so thanks for having this blog!
Hi BANA anon~! 💚
The D+ documentary was so emotional 😭 I really appreciated them taking the time to film and show us their raw, unfiltered emotions though. It must have been tough for them to film it, but it gave us a better sense how they dealt with it all during such a rough time.
As far as their social media presence goes, I get what you’re saying. I think since Jinyoung has been so involved in acting projects (I think ‘Police University’ was fairly popular, and him voicing that character in the Sing2 movie gave him a good resurgence) compared to A3 just kinda being content in doing their own thing has a bit to do with the number differences too. I used to be a bit more annoyed by comparing this, but I guess as time went on I just grew indifferent to it 😅
I’m glad you liked ‘Adore You’!! To try and answer your question about their popularity a bit, Bipo were quite popular, though more so in Korea than internationally. They were the most popular group to debut in 2011, and had steady fandom growth each year. Admittedly, this growth started to plateau a bit once they started taking longer hiatus breaks around 2015, but they were still well known to the general public, Jinyoung and Sandeul especially.
Haha it’s funny you say that about ‘Origine’, I guess it shows that it’s all subjective since I actually thought after listening to it that I didn’t feel like it was missing Jinyoung or Baro’s voices 😆. I’m happy it’s grown on your though! I think it was a solid effort considering it was CNU’s first time composing a full album for them, and I’m sure he’ll become more comfortable in doing so as he continues to create more songs for them.
Don’t worry about joining late~!! We’re happy to have you in the fandom regardless of when you joined! 💚 💚 I can’t believe it’s going to be 11 years ahhh I feel so old lol
So my favorite full album is also ‘Who Am I’, followed very closely by ‘Good Timing’. As far as EPs, ‘What’s Going On’ is my favorite~
You may have read about Sweet Girl in some of my asks here if you went back far enough 😂 though I think it wasn’t so much the EP itself (though it was a bit of a change in Jinyoung’s sound) but more so the long hiatus, followed by some company and fandom issues that were going on at that time. There’s definitely a lot of BANAs who consider it their favorite album though, so you’re not alone~!
With Baro, yeah, I don’t think singing was ever a big interest of his. Though one could argue rapping was really his biggest interest either haha. But I agree, I think with some training he could have definitely contributed more in singing.
And you’re so welcome! 💕✨ Please come by and chat anytime!!
