With Dracula Daily happening, I think it's time I should share when I was 16 I was a Vampire Bride in a community theatre production of "Dracula." When I showed up for auditions it said 18+ but in the time honored actress audition tradition, I didn't mention my age because I really wanted to be in it. They found out after I was cast but kept me anyway because they liked me and I was mature for my age. I’m in the white wig:

Our Jonathan was always asking me to come out with the group for a drink on Friday night then like 30 seconds later go, “Oh yeah you’re a minor!” I always found it odd since his fiancee was playing Mina. We each got our own set of fangs to wear that we’d put on with polident. After the show I kept mine and every so often I would wear them to school because that’s what Goth Girls do.

This October this will be 22 years ago, yet it was still one of the most key and turning point events in my life. If I hadn’t done this show, odds are I wouldn’t be starting my masters in Museum Studies next month.
