What do you think of recent events in the capital of Brazil? What are the similarities to the Capitol invasion two years ago?
Obviously, I think it's awful that the attempted coup was allowed to happen, but I do find it encouraging that the Brazilian authorities are being a lot more pro-active than the American authorities when it comes to going after not only the people who were doing the rioting, but also the officials who bungled the security response, the people who organized and paid forthe buses that brought the rioters to Brasilia, and the poliitical actors behind the scenes who were clearly hoping that this chaos would prompt the army into launching a coup.
In terms of the similarities to January 6th, I think they're quite similar events, in no small part because both events were organized by the same trans-national group of fascists: Steve Bannon has been involved in spreading false rumors about election fraud in Brazil, Don Jr. has spoken to the bolsonaristas via Zoom (after he chickened out of going in person), Bolsonaro's son has visited Maralago to meet with Bannon and Miller, etc.
The main difference I see between the two events is that January 8th more directly involved appeals to the military to overturn the election and overthrow Brazilian democracy - a direct reference to the 1964 military dictatorship, which a lot of the bolsonaristas seem to have a strong nostalgic/ideological affection for, along with their attachment to the Empire of Brazil. (Reminds me a bit of the recent events in Germany.)
Biden Campaign Blocked Muslim Women From Event, Pro-Palestinian Group Says
A pro-Palestinian group has accused President Joe Biden’s reelection campaign of blocking two women from entering a Nevada primary campaign event because they were wearing hijabs.
The group Nevadans for Palestinian Liberation, which is calling for a permanent cease-fire in Gaza, posted a video this week showing two Muslim women, both of whom were wearing headscarves, being denied entrance to a get-out-the-vote event on Saturday hosted by Vice President Kamala Harris in Las Vegas.
The video of the encounter went viral after the group posted it to Instagram and X (formerly known as Twitter) earlier this week. “The Biden/Harris campaign is clearly fanning the flames of Islamophobia,” Nevadans for Palestinian Liberation wrote in the tweet accompanying the video, which has since garnered millions of views.
Trump being scared of my vote, the vote of ATLiens MATTER. (See Outkast or perhaps how I pumped gas aside of them once upon a time omg, y’all)
More importantly, a prosecutor protecting it matters more, as nothing was stolen and election interference isn’t a minor thing. It’s a major thing.
I know where I live and I love where I live. I also support Fani Willis, despite or with, whatever Trump might have to deal with.
That was about my vote. I’m also not a black person and I’m not the one they were not trying to silent. I am not the person who truly took care to to count votes, with their hands, allowed a space and did it with their hands. Truly just being focused on in a way that is unfair.
All votes were counted. Women, black women, were targeted.
It’s not lost on me that a black woman is making it a point to make sure that Trump is pushing back for what he deserves.
Ruin him, please. Or make him more anxious.
Georgia being purple makes a Republican go bonkers. I love it so much.

Dune: Spice Wars: A Promising Real-Time Strategy Game (Early Access)
My first game of Dune: Spice Wars proved to me this title is a promising entry into the real-time strategy genre. While there’s plenty yet to add before the game comes out of Early Access, my first impressions are favourable. Allow me to expand: this game succeeds as both a Dune game and as a strategy; actually, thats not entirely true. It doesn’t yet succeed; rather it shows promise of…
Reports of the working classes' death have been greatly exaggerated. However, a class as a socioeconomic factor of production that lacks a cultural and poliitical life of its own will rapidly appear to become less of a class and more and more a mish-mash of cultural and political formations. This is the material basis of fascism: the petit-bourgouise, who lack power as a class themselves due to their marginal position in the production processes, design to convert politics into aesthetics so that layers of proletarians who fail to recognize themselves as such might actively desire to brutalise their classes own formations.
