Tolkien OC Week- Day Three, Background Characters
The First Ring Bearer
Growing suspicious and doubtful of his ally and collaborator, Celebrimbor, Lord of Eregion, forged in secret three elven rings of power. His worst fears were realized when his supposed friend, Annatar betrayed him and revealed himself as the Fallen Maia Sauron.
Sauron demanded the rings of power be rendered unto him, but Lord Celebrimbor refused. Instead he gave the three un-spoiled elven rings to his most trusted Sargent-at-arms; Elhadron, the faithful, a refugee of the House of the Fountain of Gondolin. Celebrimbor instructed him to deliver the rings to none but Gil-Galad, High King of the Noldor, Círdan, The Shipwright, and the Lady Galadriel. Elhadron, wished to stay by his Lord’s side and defend Eregion till the bitter end, but Celebrimbor would not relent. There was no one else he trusted with this task.
As Sauron’s forces loomed over Ost-in-edhil, Elhadron, alone, narrowly escaped the city through a secret passage leading from The House of Mírdain to the mouth of the river Gwathló. Celebrimbor destroyed the entrance to the passage to prevent any from following, and he defended it until his capture by the enemy.
The three rings of power slipped through Sauron’s grasp, and Elhadron bore them through many perils before finally delivering them to their intended bearers.
