Isabela: I have to stop listening to howl by florence and the machine, it makes me want to do something intense.
Mirabel: DO IT.
Isabela: No but like, it involves a training montage with a sword and I dont have a sword.
Mirabel: MAKE A SWORD.
Isabela: Time to melt some kitchen knives.
POV: You are Félix meeting the love of your life
Encanto has some of the best designs and characters Disney's had in years! They're all so good, I had no idea which ones I wanted to draw first but then Félix is a wife guy and Pepa can be terrifying so their relationship is amazing
Ok ok ok I know Julieta's food tastes probably reaally amazing and comforting and all but just imagine if she for the life of her could not cook???
Shout out to all the milfs of Encanto 😔✊
Close up on the kitchen mural and i-
they did him so dirty💀
raising a bunch of super powered children is hard enough and I know alma is like a layered character with a lot of different reasons for why she does things but I think making sure her kids were "useful" was just a way to idk manage their abilities at first
like just solely focusing on getting pepa to practice being sunny instead of exploring the full extent of her abilities bc she still had to take care of bruno and julieta and the whole village and she didn't have time to figure out how big an area Pepa could affect or what types of weather she could do or if she could maintain multiple different forecasts across a large area
it was confirmed on Twitter that bruno's little ritual is just how he centers himself when he's looking into the future back to back and he was probably just taught to identify something and hand the vision over and move onto the next person in line which of course isn't a healthy thing to put a child through but alma didn't have any time to practice bruno's vision or find out how far into the future he could see so he just focused on finding one thing and moving onto the next person
once julieta's gift was finally determined she definitely got a little more attention than her siblings bc having someone that can magically heal anything in the new town you're building is probably very useful, but alma still probably just practiced some toddler safe recipes with her for awhile bc she was FIVE and then julieta learned the rest of her recipes and herb knowledge from the chefs and botanists in the village
How come I’ve not seen a single soul talk about how julieta’s cooking kept Bruno alive for 10 years?? Like we all saw his reaction when he talked about being ‘kitchen adjacent’. That man was being nourished by magical scraps and you can’t convince me otherwise.
Okay i have an idea,
We see bruno as a baby with brown/hazel eyes and then later in the movie they are green? Does that mean that his eyes burned the green into them from having visions? Imagine how painful that mustve been on the day of his gift ceremony just pepa and julieta happy and bright then bruno screaming in pain as his eyes are burning to the point that if he was a normal human hedve gone blind and then him hiding in his room after while everyone danced and played in julietas and pepas rooms
It must be a nice memory for his sisters that day but for him it mustve been agonising and traumatising
ok hear me out. this was posted by @the_.madrigals on instagram. look at Mirabel. Everyone else is well posed. Dolores doing her little 'I hear something!' pose (which nobody else is doing a pose to 'show' what their power is so I 100% assume she actually heard something as this photo was taken and my girl looks confused lol). Camilo has his arm around Antonio. Pepa and Felix are behind them being adorable. Abuela, as always, is in the middle holding the candle. Agustín is behind Julieta and Isabela being adorable (:D) and Luisa is also on the end with Mirabel. Mirabel 100% got pulled in by Luisa. She has her arms crossed and she's leaning awkwardly. she's at like... 240 degree angle lol. She was going to be so far off to the side, standing away from her family. She could've just stood infront of Luisa. She's tall enough. But then she would have to stand next to Isabela and look like she wasn't being almost excluded by the family. Also her smile is killing me. it's the smile a lot of kids do whenever their parent is taking a photo of them and they have to smile and they don't want to.
But, in all seriousness, I saw a post one day where someone was talking about a certain lyrics in the song "The Family Madrigal"
"But now you all know the Family Madrigal
I never meant this to get autobiographical
So just to review the Family Madrigal"
Mirabel doesn't want to talk about herself. Ok, she has no gift. We get it. Because this song is pretty much just about their powers. But she includes the guys also. They don't have powers so even they are included (but Im pretty sure they're just held to a different standard and it's "okay" that they don't have powers just bc they're married in). In the post, OP also analyzed that not including herself in the song also means she doesn't really see herself as being part of "the family Madrigal". I think this photo (along with the photo taken after Antonio got his gift in his room right before the song "Waiting on a Miracle") shows just how much Mirabel feels like she's so distant/separated from her family. In the photo, she was almost forced into it by Luisa, her smile is painful, and honestly? I think she doesn't even want to be in it. Although the towns people know she's in the family Madrigal and include her in some ways, she's still treated differently than them (like Bruno - like how he's in the mural in the town but isn't talked about) and probably is talked about differently. Yep that's all.
The Madrigals when Bruno left:
Pepa, worried: Why did you let Bruno go out by himself?!
Julieta: Did you try and stop him?
Abuela Alma: … In a way.
Julieta: What did you do?
Abuela Alma: I opened the door.
Agustín, watching power lines fall down: Kids, Julieta! The town is exploding and it's very pretty!
Julieta is the ONLY component of the family that does not have a “dancing moment” and this makes me so M A D , they better fix that somehow

- It was probably a rainy day. You maybe fell down a muddy hill, and you broke you ankle.
- You must had startled some animals, and they ran to Antonio for comfort and to inform the little boy.
- He was quick to tell his mother, who then asked the rest of the family for help.
- Pepa didn’t let Camilo go for you, instead they sent Luisa and Félix (not Augustin; poor guy would I fell down the hill just like you)
- He was curious, just like Mirabel, and they both tried to get informations from Antonio.
- You came into Casita, with Luisa supporting your weight.
- Then Camilo mind went to totally blank.
- His mouth was forming a tiny gap ; his breath stopping for moment, his cheeks slowly becoming red, and his eyes stuck to you.
- He was totally mesmerized by you.
- When you notice him, you were stunned too. Maybe because of his beautiful features, or just because he was staring so intensely.
- It only take few second of eye contact to make look away and blush madly.
- He even tried to cover his face, to hide his red cheeks.
- Luisa put you down on a chair, waiting for her mother to cook you a healing meal.
- Antonio approched you and told you that it was his toucan friend who sought his help.
- Camilo walked in too, but he was so much farther then little brother.
- He watched you, not daring to come closer. Like he was afraid that if he was too close, he would explode from his racing hearbeat.
- You saw him, but you didn’t say anything, you didn’t want him to feel embarassed.
- He was moved of your sweetness toward his brother.
- When Julieta was done, he brought the food to you.
- Camilo he could die happy now that he felt your hand brushing against his.
- Since that day, he thought about you everyday. Not like his yandere version, but he was really in love.
- You just moved into Encanto, and you and your family were building your house. Obviously, it’s where Camilo was helping the most.
- He sees you to struggle with anything, he’ll rush to your side.
- The first time he hears your laugh, it’s the end for him. He was head over heels for you.
- Your little mimic, your voice when you talked to him, how lovely you looked when you dance, ah... he can’t but to fell in love.
- If they are any parties at the Madrigal’s he’ll be the first to greet you, with heartwarming hug.
- This hug might last a little longer then required, but screw that : he just want to hold (and smell your hair but shh)
- If it’s a birthday, a wedding, or any event that need you to have a got seat/spot, Camilo will keep you a very good one (next to him if possible UwU)
- God, he’s just a blushing mess around you, smiling uncontrollably, simping, and looking at you like you were the most precious person in the world.

Everyone in Encanto could be seen, bussing around. And when I say, everyone, I mean it. Even children could be seen, helping adults in preparations.
'A preparations for what?' You may ask. Well, for Dolores and Mariano's wedding, of course! Only last week, during beautiful sunset, did Mariano proposed to Dolores. It only took Dolores a few seconds, to realize what was happening and when she did, a loud 'yes!' could be heard from where they were standing.
Later that night, a young couple announced they're engagement to the rest of the Madrigal's. Of course, everyone were happy for them! Alma, as the oldest and the head of the family, gave them her blessing and immediately went, to announce the great news to the whole Encanto. Above Pepa's head a beautiful rainbow appeared, as she and Felix gave them their blessings and many tight hugs and kisses. Julieta and Augustin, too rushed where the couple were and gave them tight hugs, softly congratulating them. Mirabel, Louisa and Isabela gave each other high fives, with satisfied smirks on their faces. And Camilo and Antonio rushed towards their sister, showering her in affection, because they loved her and were a little sad that she was 'leaving' them to start a new chapter in her life.
The next day, congratulations were thrown at the young couple from every corner. Everyone, and I mean, everyone were happy for them.
The date of the wedding was quickly picked and preparations for this event had officially begun! And oh boy, was there a lot to do.
Decorations, food, guests, wedding dress, suit for Mariano...the list goes on and on. Poor Dolores became a nervous wreck. Even when her family assured her, that they would help her the best they could, her worries and fears took the best of her. All she could see was a vision of her wedding being ruined, just like her mom's. No, she wasn't angry at uncle Bruno, because he couldn't control his visions, but she was worried that something else my ruin her special day. After all, there were so many things that could go wrong! Poor thing, practically switched roles with her mother. Now Pepa was the one who had to constantly calm her daughter down...
While Dolores was too busy worrying about her nearing wedding, in reality everything was going smoothly. Under the watchful eye of Alma, people worked day after day. Pepa helped everyone by just being in a good mood and giving them the sunny weather all week. Julietta, with help, spend hours in the kitchen, preparing dishes. Isabela helped to make a lot of flowers needed for the decorations, Louisa put things into their rightful places and Mirabel locked herself inside her room, sewing her cousin wedding dress. Antonio choose to spend time with his mother and sister and Camilo? Camilo was everywhere, doing everything. Since he can change forms, he could practically everything. From helping with decorations to trying to make his sister laugh.
And Camilo didn't mind. He liked feeling useful and was driven by the fact that it was his older sister wedding. Those two sources of motivation, gave him necessary boosts of energy to help around. Besides, he had another, secret, motivation...
(name) Guzman. She was Mariano's cousin and Camilo and her had met some time ago. He didn't really remember how it had happened, but he and (name) became good friends. And recently something more. Again, Camilo didn't know how it came to be, but he was happy. Really happy and stupidly in love.
But since Camilo and (name) heard about the engagement, they've decided to keep their relationship a secret. They had agreed on that without hesitation. They didn't want to ruin his sister's and her cousin's special time. Their relationship could wait a little longer and they were more than fine with that.
But Bruno shattered their peace by being the usual lovely dork that he was. While you and Camilo were on a date, just a picnick in the middle of the meadow, Bruno decided that he wanted to go on a stroll with his rat friend, Alina. The youngest Madrugal triplet was having nice conversation with Alina, when he noticed his nephew and Mariano's cousin having a picnicking. At first, he thought that it was just two friends who decided to hang out, so he let it slide. And then...
Bruno saw Camilo hugging you tightly and kissing your cheek lovingly.
Bruno gasped once again, and Alina squeaked loudly, but this time louder and unfortunately, he managed to catch attention of his nephew, who in flash turned his head around and his warm brown eyes met his green ones. Camilo eyes widened as his shoulders tensed up, quickly realizing what had just occurred.
His uncle found out that you're dating and tomorrow was a last dinner between Guzman's and Madrigal's before the wedding day.
You were doomed.
The dinner time came much quicker than Camilo would like. After your date, he couldn't stop thinking about his uncle potentially spoiling his sister's day. His brain kept showing him awful visions of potential future, where Bruno accidentally tells both his and your family that you're dating and Dolores would be devastated, because all attention is now on you. And how she would cry, because her special day was ruined because of you.
No, he won't allow it to happened. Camilo will make sure of it. Everything, the dinner and the wedding, will go smoothly.
Oh how wrong he was.
Since it was special day, today's dinner was served outside. The delicious food was laid on the table, Isabela made a two small bouquets that she puts into glass vases and placed them on the table and everyone sat down in their places. Mariano sat with his fiance and you sat next to him. Camilo sat opposite of you, and just besides his dear uncle. Alma with a warm smile, welcomed everyone and the dinner had officially begun.
While everyone were chatting happily, Camilo kept a watchful eye out for his uncle. Every time Bruno opened his mouth, he received a glare from his nephew, making poor man gulp and turn his head to the other side. In some way, Camilo was succeeding in keeping his uncle quiet. So far, everything was going smoothly...
❝ Can someone pass me arepa? ❞ Asked Alma, looking at the plate on the other side of the table.
❝ Here-! ❞
❝ Let me-! ❞
Both Camilo and Bruno reached for the plate and their hands had accidentally touched. Both men were blinded by the green color, as they both witness what was about to come. There was Dolore's wedding and...you. It looked like you had cached the bouquet and Camilo was hugging you, kissing your cheek. Then, he saw everyone standing around them, probably gasping in surprise. Tomorrow, everyone would know...Dolores would be devastated...
❝ Camilo...! ❞
❝ Bruno...! ❞
❝ Wake up! ❞ Both Camilo and Bruno snapped out of the trace after hearing Alma's voice. Like they were burned, both men jumped away from each other, trying to catch their breaths. Only after Camilo looked down at himself, did he realize that he accidentally keep changing into you, Bruno, Dolores and Mariano. Taking a deep breath, Camilo stopped changing, a looked at his uncle with wide eyes, trying to make sense of what he had just seen.
❝ Brunito, what happened?! ❞ Asked worried Alma, quickly running to his son and checking on him.
❝ Was this about my wedding?! ❞ Dolores burst out, worry filling her doe like eyes again.
❝ No, no, no! It was just something about...uh...my room! ❞ Bruno tried to assure his niece, smiling awkwardly at everyone and apologizing every minute for the inconvenience.
❝ Yeah! Bruno has been training his powers and now he gets those small visions here and there. Hehehehe... ❞ Camilo joined his uncle and laughed it off, secretly feeling something dying inside of him.
After a few more minutes, everything went back to normal, and the dinner resumed. Food quickly disappeared and Mariano had to go back with his family. You all said your goodbyes and parted your ways, while Madrigal's keep waving at you. And when you disappeared from their sight, Dolores was quick to grasp his uncle arm and started dragging him towards the kitchen. Ignoring his uncle protests, everyone rushed after the bride and Camilo was ahead of the rest. His heart squeezed painfully, afraid that Bruno would tell her everything.
❝ What did you see?! Tell me! ❞ He heard Dolore's yelling, as he had entered the kitchen.
❝ N-Nothing! ❞
❝ Tell me! ❞ Dolores started to shake the poor man by his shoulders, desperate to know the answer.
❝ Dolores! Stop this at once! ❞ Alma was quick to react, and step in at the right time, freeing Bruno from the poor girl's grasps. Older woman checked on her precocious son, caressing his cheeks and trying to calm him down.
❝ Brunito, go to your room... ❞
Camilo watched everything happening before him, feeling guilty. He tried so hard to stop this disaster from ruining his sister mood and he still failed...
❝ Camilo... ❞ He heard his mother calling him and he turned around to face her. Camilo saw a stormy cloud above her head, and feel even more guilty. Now his sister and mami were in a bad mood...
❝ Please, tell us what you saw... ❞ Begged him Pepa, grasping his hands in her own, looking into his soul. The young boy was forced to make a decision he was not ready for. Gulping, Camilo shook his head softly and whispered:
❝...good ❞ Camilo added in his head, knowing perfectly well, that story about his mother's wedding would be repeating itself tomorrow.

“Oh dios mio” - oh my god
“Casita” - house
You told yourself you would never speak a word out loud about it, successfully doing so for 15 years. But you panicked and blurted it out, you know she heard- she had to have heard.
You were swiftly shoving past people in the tiny town, not giving your body enough time to steady it's breath but still being polite enough to mutter out sorry's every time you bumped a little too hard into someone. You had to get to her, at any given moment she could tell him and it would all go to hell.
Your eyes desperately scanned over each individual’s face as you reached the center of the town knowing mirabel hung around there. 'I just ask where dolores is she would tell me right RIGHT!?'. There was no curly black headed in sight but your eyes caught the small children that would be all up the madrigals business. Your small legs scurried over to them.
"Hey you guys! Where is Dolores or Mirabel or even better-Camilo!"
They held a blank stare thinking you were a random crazy woman. Who could blame them the frantic look on your face was enough to scare them into being silent. They all just stared at you for a second as your loud breaths took over the conversation.
"Um...well we haven't seen them at all,we just saw mirabel get some food (y/n)-"
You were on the run again, not letting the poor girl who was brave enough to speak up finish. This time you headed towards the big colorful house. Your feet aching from the hill you had to climb as the people from the town just watched you speed by. You didn't care how you looked to the people around you right now you were determined to find Dolores to save you from the future excruciating embarrassment. As your orbs came face to face with the house your ears were able to catch the chatter emitting towards the back of it. With the last bit of energy you had you made your way but something caught your foot causing you to fall with an umph. In the process of standing up you noticed the dirt patch on your skirt but you didn't care enough to inspect it-
"I'm, here-here !"
You let out trying to catch your breath, hand on one knee and the other pointing up to Make your presence announced. Everyone's eyes lingered on your worn out frame, sweaty forehead, chest manically moving trying to catch your breath, dirty clothing. rambled hair and a little bit of rashes on your knees letting a little blood spill out. Camilo's mom pepa spoke up first.
" oh dios mio! Are you okay (y/n)?"
She said concerned, dropping the food she was in the process of putting on her plate as she rushed over to you. "Yeah erm im fine-"You tried letting out as she fixed your hair and wiped the sweat and dirt off your forehead, a little worried cloud appeared above her head. Julieta mirabels mom coming to pepas aid with bread in her hand.
The madrigal family was fond of you, took you in and considered you as one of their own. After all you grew up with Camilo and never left his sight 24/7. Things changed a bit after you all grew older if you know what I mean.. but to your relationship with the family in whole didn't. Pepa had a soft spot for you, caring for you as one of her own.
"Who did this to you?"
Julieta softly spoke edging the bread to your mouth as you took a small bite out of it. Peppas eyes widen and before you could mutter out a word she cut you off "who!?- Someone did this to you!" She exclaimed agitating the clouds above her head causing them to thunder and grow in size. "-no nobody did this to me-I-I just fell while running-". Pepa clasped your face with both hands squishing them as she brought you closer to her.
"(Y/n) if I find out someone did this to you and your lying-" her husband Felix dragged her away from you apologizing for her out burst. Noticing pepa playing with her hair "clear skies, clear skies" she whispered to herself.
You finish the rest of the bread offered to you, you turn to face Julieta and thanked her.
"Your welcome, Just don't cause any more havoc niña"
She offers a warm smile as she pinches your cheek lovingly, after that she walks off claiming her place next to her husband agustin and daughter mirabel. Abuela alma approaches you grabbing your arm as she leads you to the food table where Dolores is at... Dolores?-DOLORES!
"Why don't you join us, eat while we discuss the future of Antonio's miracle"
She pats your arm before letting go of it reaching the destination . Dolores not paying me or abuela any mind grabbing more food than usual her face unbothered. There is no way she wouldn't be on her toes about what she would've heard me say.
"Of course, I'll stay abuela"
You chuckled nervously waiting for the conversation to just end! She leant in holding one cheek as she kissed the other.
" it's nice to see you again "
Truth was you weren't visiting as much anymore, because your brain just decided to be a horn ball every time you were around Camilo. You respected him enough to not be thinking about getting- not even gonna say it- every-second you were around-him! And you know what's more frustrating you couldn't even try to “satisfy” yourself because Dolores would hear that it was about HIM . But this morning you scolded yourself for thinking dirty about him and not to mention OUT LOUD. You weren’t proud of this situation, you were actually feeling very shameful about the whole thing, that’s why he couldn’t know about it. You struggled and decided to let this feeling subside but it had yet done so..
Abuela alma walked off which gave you the green light to speed next to Dolores. Before you even thought about what to say you just let it all out.
" -look Dolores I know you heard me in the morning and before you tell Camilo anything it isn't what it seems it was just a slip of the tongue I don't want to do what I said I wanted to do with your brother or what it seemed like I wanted to do with your brother plus I mean every teenager does that right I mean you did have some point in your time you thought that too-"
You whispered in order to not let the other family members hear, it felt like you had taken a 9 mile run again, chest trying to gulp for fresh air. Your face was flushed with sweat like a few minutes ago but this time for the wrong reason and not to mention the shade of red making it's way across your face.
Dolores stood there both of you making direct eye contact waiting for her to speak up as you akward smiled. 'Did she not know- what if by the grace of the gods she was too busy listening to someone else's business'. It looked like she was trying to process what you had just said-
"-Camilo stop pretending your Dolores so you can have seconds"
Felix scolded, as his words registered in your brain the smile your face held immediately dropped. Camilo turned back into his regular curly headed self.
"Forget everything I said it doesn't really matter"
Camilo was about to probe you with questions his mouth opening but casita quickly shut it as it started to smack him. Your eyes fluttered shut taking a few breaths to collect yourself. ‘Okay you didn’t let the whole cat out of the bag he knew some of it just not the context, I should talk with Dolores first before I- as You turned around and opened your eyes you found Camilo sitting next to Dolores. 'WHAT!' You did quick glances behind you and back towards them. How did he- how was he able to-
Dolores eyes at you As she whispers into his ear. Camilos face contorted in shock the information taken in triggering his powers. His frame bounced as he shifted from turning into you and him.
His father warned smacking his arm, everyone just staring at him as abuela glared. He coughed sorrys being taken back by such a thing his blushing face glancing back up at you.
Your state was..blank you didn’t know what do, move, say or feel, all you knew is that you wanted to die disappear- poof! Out of existence. Your vision started to be covered by black blotches , vision being completely taken over by darkness before your body slowly fell backwards. The concerned screams and gasps of the madrigals being the last thing you heard.
Yep this wasn’t good.
Authors note: before y’all come for me I’m allowed to simp for Camilo because I may be underage and plus it’s not like full blown smut.
Also I am working on the part 2 for the sun/ moon drop it’s just that this story was just bugging my head.
I saw an au on Tiktok where Bruno is Mirabel’s father and I couldn’t stop thinking about it, so here you go.
Bruno falls in love with a girl in the village that has moved there to get away from her demanding and overbearing family. They elope and have Mirabel before her family finds out and takes her away.
Devastated, the only comfort Bruno has is Mirabel. He sings to her and tells her stories about his sisters and him growing up together.
On the night of Mirabel’s gift ceremony, Alma has a feeling that Mirabel will get a gift that will be just as much of a problem as Bruno’s is. Using better words than this, she asks Bruno to look into the future and see what will happen.
He gets the vision we see in the movie of Casita breaking because of Mirabel. Terrified that his family would blame both him and Mirabel for this, he thinks about running away, but decides to lie to him mother instead. He tells her that he couldn’t see anything, and that her future was still unwritten.
When Mirabel gets no gift, he immediately knows that Casita will break because of it. The family will treat her like an outcast just like they do him, and she will grow up hated by the masses. He knows he has to leave Mirabel without him to give her a fighting chance, but he can’t bring himself to do it. Casit lets him hide in the walls, leaving him little cracks in the walls to watch his daughter grow up.
She cries for days and days after her gift ceremony, for her Papa to come and console her, but he never does. From behind the walls, he spends days and days crying and murmuring apologies that only Dolores could hear.
The adults have a family meeting and declare that Bruno has left and abandoned his daughter for not having a gift. They make him out to be a villain, because when don’t they. They come to the decision that Juliéta and Agustín will be her parents now, that she is young enough that she will be able to be transferred like this.
Agustín comforts her, and tells her that her dad is here, and she is so upset that she doesn’t even question it. She needs someone to be there for her, and he is. After a bit of confusion from the kids and the town, the story cleans itself up. The village picks up on the change and accepts it, quickly moving Bruno into the “Never Ever Talk About” category. Isabela and Luisa pick up on it but they know that she isn’t their sister, that she’s Tio Bruno’s daughter. Luisa pretty quickly just starts to think she imagined it and ignores the idea and accepts Mirabel as her sister, but Isabela takes her confusion out on Mirabel.
As the years go by, people forget that Bruno was her father. She forgets, the town forgets, and her new sisters forget. Isabela’s resentment to Mirabel seemingly comes from a place of her not having a gift. Juliéta and Agustín spend lots of time full of guilt for doing this to their hermano Bruno, but Alma is always quick to remind them that Bruno left Mirabel and they just didn’t want the poor little girl to have that on her shoulders.
Bruno, watching from the walls, is absolutely livid about this development. But as time goes on, he realizes that the secret makes Mirabel more welcome to everyone in town. If she’s Juliéta’s daughter as opposed to his, people will be more willing to like her. He slowly accepts that this is good for her, but he resents his mother for thinking he would just run out on his daughter like that.
He watches her grow up, and he watches the family grow, and he watches as Mirabel becomes more and more like her mother every day.
When Antonio’s gift ceremony comes, he’s been sealing up hidden cracks for almost two years now, and desperately hoping that his vision was wrong and Mirabel isn’t doing anything. He sees her tell the family about the cracks and watches as Alma dismisses her with such anger and such vile words, and he nearly throws up. He’d thought that leaving her behind, that letting her Julieta’s daughter would make everything okay for her, but he should have known that he can never stop his visions from coming true.
He sees Mirabel with the vision that he destroyed, and he feels like his world is falling apart. He can’t save her from this, and he knows it, and he feels like a horrible father. He’s so panicked about it that he doesn’t even notice as she finds her way into his secret passageways.
He runs because he doesn’t know what else to do. He thinks she’ll hate him for leaving her, for letting them lie to her, for the vision, for not being there. But then she falls. His heart drops down to his feet, and he immediately runs to catch her. The drop is shallow (he knows, he’s fallen down it several times) but even so, he’d never let her fall. Hearing her voice, begging for help from Casita, he can’t just leave.
She sees where he lives and she seems shocked that he survived this long. He doesn’t mention to her all the nights when he’d sneak out into the kitchen for food, the living room for blankets when it was cold, or to the nursery, just to see her without boards in the way. He also doesn’t tell her about the nights before Antonio was born where he would sit in the rocking chair by her bed and sing songs to her while she slept, just like he used to. She doesn’t need to know that.
She wants a vision from him, and he wants to say no, because he doesn’t want to curse her with the vision that will come, but he could never say no to her. The vision has her hugging Isabela, and he calls her Mirabel’s sister over a lump in his throat. She doesn’t need to know. It’s better if she doesn’t know.
As soon as he gets back to the walls, he cries because she saw him and he saw her and she’s so big and she’s perfect.
He watches as she helps Isabela, as they hug, as the candle burns brighter, and then it all goes to shit.
She says to Alma the things that have been stuck in his throat since his own gift ceremony, and he couldn’t be prouder of her.
He dives out of the house as it goes down, and it’s the first time he’s seen direct sunlight in years, but it doesn’t even matter because he needs to find Mirabel, to make sure his mom doesn’t blame her, to make sure she’s okay. He doesn’t realize until he’s halfway through the forest that his so-called gift is gone.
He follows whatever paternal intuition he has and finds her with his mother in the lake clearing by the mountain. He starts to tell his mother that she didn’t do anything, that it was his vision, to just blame him, that he doesn’t care what she thinks of him but to keep his daughter out of this, but she cuts him off with a hug. Mirabel just tells them they have to get back to the house.
They ride back to the house, and his mother asks all types of questions about where he’s been that he’s reluctant to answer with Mirabel right next to them. She’s horrified to find he’s just been living in the house, the walls, this whole time, that he’s seen everything and heard everything she said about him.
He tells her it’s okay, because Mirabel is safe, and that’s all that matters. Mirabel asks why her specifically, and then they’re at Casita’s remains.
They decide to rebuild the house, and his sisters are there and they missed him and they don’t hate him and Juliéta apologizes over and over again for taking his place, but he tells her that it’s okay because Mirabel is safe, and Mirabel jumps in with a “and what exactly do i have to do with whatever your taking about?” and Juliéta says “mija…” and he knows that it’s time.
He holds his sister's hand and cries as she tells Mirabel the truth. His daughter stares at him, and his eyes fall to the ground, he can’t look at her, she’ll hate him, and she’ll never want to see him again, and he should just leave she’ll never care for him the way she does Agustin, it won’t be the same, he should just let them all be, they were fine without him, and oh, she’s hugging him.
She doesn’t call him dad, or any other variation, but she isn’t calling Juliéta “mom” anymore, and they just sit together sometimes at night after long days of rebuilding Casita and she’ll ask him questions and he’ll do his best with them.
What was her mom like? Beautiful, brave, headstrong, just like you. Why didn’t she stay? She wanted to, but her family was of great importance in a father away town and they made her leave. Why did he leave? To protect her, always for her. Did I call you Dad? No, you called me Papa. I called you Mi Mariposita, you still are. What was I like as a baby? Perfect, quiet, happy, ready for anything, mine. Did you know I wouldn’t have a gift? No. I hoped, in my darkest hours, after bad visions, or horrible nightmares, I hoped you wouldn’t be shackled to one like I was mine, but I never meant for it to be like this.
When Casita is finished, he gives her the doorknob with a big “M” on it, for Madrigal, but for Mirabel, too. She cries, and she hugs him, and tells him “Gracias, Papa.” and he cries too.
For some time, she alternates between calling him Bruno and Papa, but she’s a lot more open about it now.
She gets her own room for the first time in her life, and Casita lines the wall with green butterflies. She makes him a new ruana and he doesn’t take it off for a week.
She finds out that after Casita came back, he hasn’t gone to his room, stealing sleep on the couch or an armchair or anywhere but his tower, so big and cold and lonely and far. She holds his hand and they go in together, and the tower is gone. It’s just a room decorated in green with pictures of his family, and a prophecy room off the end. He cries and she holds him and he tells her everything about all of it.
He talks about her mother, about her beauty and her stubbornness, her courage, her love, how Mirabel is every bit as strong and amazing as she was, how he can see her in Mirabel’s quiet comfort and her loud love. He talks about why he left, about why he didn’t come out and tell her as soon as she started calling Agustín Dad like wanted to, and the nights when he would sit in her room and just watch her. He tells her about how the family made him feel, his paranoia, the pain of suppressing visions, the horror that floods through him at the idea of having another one. About how fast she’s grown, how amazing she’s become, how proud he is of her. They cry and cry and cry and she talks about how she’s always felt like she was on the outside even separate from not having a gift. About how she could tell that something was off, the heavy air of guilt that followed through years of her childhood, about what her childhood could have been, about how she still doesn’t really forgive Abuela, not yet, and she doesn't know if she ever will. They spend the whole night on the floor of his new room and by the time morning comes she’s calling him Papa and never looking back.
Sometimes Bruno will see a look on Juliéta’s face that makes him know that regret the decision as she does, she misses being Mirabel’s mother. The mild flinch that passes Agsutín every time she calls Bruno Papa, and the look of devastation that they both share when she starts calling them Tío and Tía. In years to come, it will get easier. They will forget how easy it was to be her parents, and they will move past it. But sometimes, in the middle of the night, Bruno can help but hate them just a little bit for the fact that they got to be there when she was growing up and he could only see her in the middle of the night of through the cracks in the walls.
Life goes on. It gets easier. Dolores and Mariano get married. Isabela finds a nice village girl and falls in love. There are children, and there are gift ceremonies, and there are celebrations. Bruno learns how to be a father again. Luisa and Isabela start to call her primita instead of hermanita, and the pained looks that accompany it fade with time. Juliéta learns not to run to her the second she calls for help, and to let Bruno get to her first. Alma learns to focus on them as people as opposed to their gifts. They all grow, and they all move on.
Bruno Madrigal X Fem! Reader
Gonna put it out there, I have never made a fanfic before, will be taking critiques on how to improve.
WARNING: Might contain NSFW in the future hehe
Summary: (Pre-canon) Y/N continuously hears around town about this "misfortune teller" guy and wants to see for herself. She nor the fellow seer would expect what their future has in store.
You were walking through the town of Encanto with a sprained wrist headed to Julieta to get one of her healing meals. Even from the first day you were living in Encanto it wasn't hard to hear about the magical unique Madrigals. But lately, the talk was all about one of the family members you haven't heard of yet, Bruno.
"He told me my gold fish was going to die and i woke up today and what do I see? BEANS DEAD" some girl sobbed.
"He said I was going to poo-.."-
'And that's enough eavesdropping' I picked up my pace to avoid hearing more.
Even as I continued on I could still hear people mummer about their "bad" future and how cursed this fortune teller guy is.
'what's their deal? If he's just a seer he can't cause these bad things to happen and yet I hear so much...hatred? In their voice for this poor guy...maybe I can ask-'
"Y/N pleasure to see you!"
Speak of the devil, Julieta! Just the girl I was looking for.
"Sprained again? You have to be more careful!"
"Huh-" I was so focused with the Bruno talk I forgot the whole Bruno situation.
"Oh yeah" I chuckled " The ground just looked so pleasing today I just had to face plant off my bed onto my hand"
Julieta didn't appreciate my sarcasm as much as I did as she rolled her eyes at me.
"I'm sorry okay! I couldn't help myse-MPH" I was rudely cut off my Julieta shoving an arepa into my mouth.
"hehe I'm sorry I couldn't help myself" Julieta laughed she held her 1 month pregnant stomach.
I couldn't help but laugh with her, we've recently started to get closer since my clumsiness always left me at her stand. But yet out of all the times I've talked to her and heard her stories, she's never mentioned Bruno.
"OhweifJulieta! There'smgkbeen.. somethingmgm Imhwanted tomgask you" I said with my mouth full. Her foods too delicious to rush, what did you expect?
"Don't think like that-" Julieta sighed
"I said i wanted to ask you about something more especially, a guy named Bruno. You know him?"
'...That was a dumb question- he's in her family of course she knows him'
"Bruno? He's my brother, I see you've heard of him in town but I promise he isn't like they say he is! You can go see for yourself" Julieta quickly states.
"Don't worry, I believe you!" 'wait I can go see for myself- That's genius'
" Thank you for doing so now shoo shoo, there's a line building behind you" Julieta scoots me away.
"Ah okay okay, I'm going- Thank you for your help Julieta!"
"No problem Y/N! Visit anytime!"
With my wrist back in check, I had no other plans for today.
'Maybe I should get my fortune told, it doesn't hurt to try even if bad what's the worse that can happen'
With that I went on my way to the Madrigal's home.
Mini Time Skip
As you saw the Madrigal house in felt yourself mess with the loose string of your skirt as butterflies increase in your stomach.
'Breathe in, breathe out you got this, just knock on the door and ask for Bruno...simple'
Reality yet again proved not to be simple as you stood there with a shaky hand for the past 10 minutes. As soon as you were about to finally place your hand onto the wooden door, Casita did you the favor and slammed the door open themselves.
You found yourself wide-eyed staring at the person nearest to the door who's expression mimicked yours. He had loose shaggy curled dark hair, scruffy facial hair, brown eyes with a rather large nose.
Your face flushed red for..more than one reason.
Well. This is turning awkward.
'We have to say something, anything!'
After another minute of silence, the Madrigal decides to speak first.
"Um, was there something you needed?" He awkwardly stated.
I stood frozen staring into his eyes not expecting him to speak, much less ask a question.
I must've been staring for too long because he quickly looked down, face flushed.
'Now I'm making him uncomfortable great'
With that I ran.
Notes: I was gonna continue but i'm going to leave that for the next part. I promise you will have a better interaction with Bruno soon.
~Bruno Madrigal x Reader Domestic Headcanons~
(Why? Cause I said so. I'm feeling a little down and need the comfort! Also, these are romantic headcanons, just a heads up My lovelies! <3)
(I love him Your Honour!)
I like to think that Bruno is a little spoon because it makes him feel safe. Specifically when he is close and facing towards you. He will wrap his arms around you and squeeze you when and if he has a nightmare. (I can imagine he likes the 'Honeymoon Hug' the best)
On the topic of nightmares, considering his gift and his fear of upsetting people, I can imagine this sweetheart would have trouble sleeping and suffer from nightmares very often. So when he wakes up at night from said nightmares, you would have to hold him and reassure him that he isn't a bad person and that you really do love him.
He likes being praise and encouraged for the littlest things, like say if he gives you a gift, and you respond with a 'Thank you Bruno', it would give him happy butterflies and make him happy.
So imagine what 'I love you' does to him. He smiles like a goofball and gets all bashful about it, responding with an 'I love you too'
Bruno likes having his hair played with, as I stated in one of my previous posts, it puts him to sleep. You just need to find that right spot and he will just melt and drift off. It also comes in handy when he's upset or can't sleep.
He finds it endearing when you just talk to the rats. Like say if you are just going about your day and have one on your shoulder, taking to it while you do your work, it would just be so cute to him.
On the topic of cute, he has a sweet tooth. He has had one since he was a kid so he enjoys special occasions when the treats come out.
Reading isn't exactly his favourite things to do on his own, he enjoys reading with you. He enjoys sitting or cuddling with you and reading his favourite stories as a form of bonding.
He holds your hand a lot, whenever he can, he will hold your hand. And I mean it. Whether it be sitting down at the dinner table, walking through town, sleeping....yeah.
Bruno still has self-esteem issues, he still has his moments where he doubts himself. It happens from time to time, he will sit on the bed of your shared room and stare off silently.
When you find him like this, you have to sit by him and hold one of his hands, give him time to snap out of it. Just talk to him gently and comfort him.
He will be very goofy and dorky, it's a part of him that you adore. How naturally sweet and funny his personality is. It makes him more lovable
When you guys are sharing some quality time, he brings out his goofy side more.
And I will never be convinced otherwise that he likes to use a special pet name. I’m serious. Call him something endearing and he will answer to it.
He’s not the best dancer, but he has the heart and we love that. He will happily dance with you if you want to.
Your typically the one who cooks, not because he doesn’t want to, he just doesn’t know how and poor baby would probably start a fire. So it’s best that you cook, or at least help cook with Julieta and Pepa.
Bruno loves you with all of his heart, though sometimes he has trouble showing it. If you’re patient though, you’ll see it come through.
