During my mini hiatus I fulfilled my dream of visiting Norway! The most surprising thing was hearing Lithuanian being spoken literally everywhere. My mum and I always speak Lithuanian to each other, so it was incredibly bizarre for people to overhear us and then come speak with us, or to have waiters/shopkeepers switch from English to Lithuanian. I’ve never experienced anything like it before, and I had no idea so many Lithuanians live in Norway! I absolutely ADORED this, it made all the places we visited instantly feel like home. Despite all that, I learned a bit of Norwegian and discovered that it’s literally the cutest language. Language learning is absolutely wonderful

#But fr it made me so happy 🥺 I rarely ever get to use my lithuanian so this was such a pleasant surprise!! #When we arrived in Oslo we sat down at a restaurant and were discussing how ridiculously expensive everything was - #- and then the waitress came over and asked (in lithuanian) if we were ready to order 💀💀💀💀 #We were struggling to find our hotel and we asked two ladies on a bench who were speaking lithuanian where we could find it !! #At a food festival in Bergen there was a stand for lithuanian chocolate so we were tasting there and had so many Lithuanians come and chat #And soooo many more instances like this !! #Imagine spending 99% of your time not speaking a language outside of the country / without your family #and then all of a sudden everyone speaks this language in the least expected place. Woah! #If I wasn’t so settled in France and if I was a bit less poor I would consider moving to Bergen. I loved itttt !!!! #studyblr #light academia #studyspo #langblr #norway #cottagecore

Studying chemistry in uni just means casually finding out that the things considered a heresy punishable by death in a high school chemistry class are actually possible or at least a lot more complex than you were taught anyway did you know sodium can form anions too

I desperately need study tips to study during periods please! I'm always crying, my head hurts, my stomach hurts, my legs hurt, I can't concentrate, I feel sleepy(can't even drink coffee cause CRAMPS!!!!). How do you guys manage studying during periods? Especially if your exams are near?

10/10/23 tuesday~

OKAY. so as far as i'm aware, i don't have any work left this week. thank god (and then i wake up tomorrow and i have like 50 things to do)

anyways, apparently our class did NOT do very well on our metodos midterm. and our teacher was kinda dissapointed (even though at this point it's kinda her problem? i am a firm believer of the "if everyone in class fails then it's the teachers fault". most of us did pass, but still) and she asked us questions that came in the exam so we could get some extra points

this was so bad that when she got to me she said smth along the lines of "you got a good grade" which ??? i got a 7.1??? that's just a decent grade, not a good one??? like, how bad was it that a 7 is a good grade. it's very weird, and a bit worrying

finished another biochem lab report (the last one of the week I HOPE)

My literal favorite pastime is saying "this is why I'm getting an engineering degree" to anything trivial in nature. Successfully downloaded a game for my friend? Engineering degree. Duct taped a floppy sun visor on a car to keep it upright? Engineer degree. Solved for how many teaspoons of instant coffee can go into my mug if I use 8 oz measuring cups of water instead of 6? Engineering degree, and the reason I passed multivar calc with an A

#The best part is that yeah #technically developing critical thinking and problem solving skills is exactly why I'm getting a poor mans math degree #It's also a computer engineering degree but the disparity between the trivial nature and the difficulty of the degree is so much higher #It's so fun it's like yes! dissertation grind week is officially On i have written 2000 words today and there’s still like 3 hours of work left to go before i collapse x

finally cleaned out my bag for the semester, so bag tour it is. (i haven't picked up my textbooks yet, so i only have these and a couple other books in here so far.)

bonus, i couldn't get a decent photo of it, but my favorite perfume ever in the bottom right corner is coffee date by replica. (i also use athletic tape for my loose joints, hooray.)

Digital overuse and my poor eyes

I actually know about this problem for a long time, and so does everybody. I spend a lot of time online and starring at my phone or laptop.

Be it for university, work or some fun reading. ;y digital use is enorm and it’s affecting my eyes and health negatively. Which is nothing new, but I liked to ignore this. 

I ignored it because I like spending my time on the internet. Especially for reading. And I will never stopp liking it, but I must stop my exessive use. I am to young for all the health problems it brings.  So I have some rules for my new digital detox starting now:

- I’ll only use tumblr for my blog. No more mindless scrolling. And I’ll delete the App from my phone

- No more Youtube, Reddit and Instagram. The later two I’ll quit Cold Turkey and for Youtube I will only leave a short time span. Like an hour for my favorite Creators

- And the hardest part, no more AO3. I read so much there. That will be the most difficult point. I will read some printed books in the meantime. I planned for so long to read more printed ones and apperently now is the time to follow up on that goal

I will do that for 30 days and follow up on the 13.10.2022
