WELCOME TO TOTAL DRAMA SIMS! The hottest new reality TV show on Simblr. I'm your host jonquilyst, and starting today 14 teenagers will gather to put their wits, guts, and strength to the test to see who can survive and persevere the longest. Buckle up, 'cause it's gonna be totally, absolutely insane!

Allow me to also welcome you to Camp Simsanakwa! Located somewhere along the coast of Brindleton Bay, this crappy summer camp will be our 14 contestants' new home! Here’s a little tour:

We've got the basic necessities here: 2 cabins (one for each team) with 2 rooms each, a mess hall for everyone's lounging and culinary needs, and of course bathrooms for everyone to do their business!

But the most exciting part is the campfire, where everyone will face the judgement of their fellow contestants, and the Dock of Shame, where losers will say goodbye to Total Drama Sims!

Thank you, genuinely, so much, for this correction. I'm very sorry for the mistake. I create these guides between work assignments (I work from home, around the clock, trying to make ends meet in this mess of an economy) and didn't do my due diligence in double-checking every book. I think this started as an aro/ace list I was compiling and I tried to separate it into two guides. I apologize for the discrepancy vehemently and will strive to do better in the future. What I *love* about being English is you are brought up with the idea we are a ‘Christian’ country that is almost too soft for its own good. That we treat everybody with kindness, and our only problem is that we are just so fucking kind that everybody takes advantage of us 😢. Womp womp.

Of course, you grow up and realise that, actually, the people who are the recipients of that good, Christian treatment are rich, heinous pieces of doo who couldn’t give two shits about anyone who isn’t of their socioeconomic background. Everyone outside of that gilet-shagging bubble is, of course, scum.

And then you leave school and find what you've learned about your country's history is absolute bullshit. Our military didn't go into countries to free people from oppressive regimes but rather to make the rich men who told them to go and kill people they deem as their enemies even richer. Oh, and then there are the civilian rapes and murders. But we are the good guys, see! We may have colonized your country, but we occasionally send an old man with sausage fingers over there to wave at you and ignore your requests for your stuff back!

I thought being British was loving Robbie Williams a bit too much... oh how I was wrong.

The 'kindness' that proud folk misplaced as being an English trait is essentially mass silence regarding rich men and how they want to live while being a cunt to everybody else. English people are very vocal about immigrants, the working class, the disabled and anybody who simply doesn’t live like Sid James in a fucking Carry On film. From tall poppy syndrome, the middle-class people who interchange their politics like a y2k Depop fit to flag shaggers… this country is a joke, and I would like to leave, please, sir xoxo.

Over 4 million children are living in poverty, but please tell me why I should give a shit about a flag on the collar of an England shirt and why Angela Rayner is a slag because she sold her council house. Meanwhile... how much money was spunked up a wall on PPE you paid for through your mate's imaginary companies? How much money did Priti Patel spend in a nail salon again?

Mid Year Book Tag!

This is a well loved set of book prompts that I believe originated on youtube, but it's fun to do here as well :)

1.Best book you've read so far: A Day of Fallen Night by Samatha Shannon, without a doubt. This may end up my favorite of the year and I was incredibly impressed by this book.

2.Best sequel you've read so far: Bloodmarked by Tracy Deonn. This is book 2 to the Legendborn cycle, and I liked the sequel even better than book 1.

3.New Release you haven't read yet but want to: Yellowface by RF Kuang, since Kuang is on her way to becoming a new favorite author for me. Also, Lone Woman by Victor laValle, since anything laValle writes is brilliant.

4.Most anticipated release for the second half of the year? Starling House by Alix E Harrow or All The Hidden Paths by Foz Meadows

5.Biggest Disappointment: The Last Tale of the Flower Bride by Roshani Chokshi, I really disliked this book and it was a dnf.

6.Biggest Surprise: Keikeyi by Vashnavi Patel, I was a little unsure how much I would like this novel, but I ended up enjoying it quite a bit.

7. Favorite new author: Tracy Deonn for sure!

8.Newest Fictional Crush: Wendall Brambly (from Emily Wilde's Encyclopedia of Faeries). (Also Darlington (from Hell Bent) but he's not a 'new' character for this year, so he doesn't really count)

9.Newest Favorite Character: Dumai from A Day of Fallen Night (and Wulf from adofn too)

10.Book that made you cry: How High We Go in the Dark by Sequoia Nagamatsu

11.A Book that made you happy: A Lady for a Duke by Alexis Hall

12. Favorite Adaptation: The Expanse. I read book 7 this spring, but the TV show is a fantastic adaptation.

13. Prettiest Cover: The Adventures of Amina al-Sirafi by Shannon Chakraborty

After weeks of battle, triumph, drama, and other teenager shenanigans, it is finally time to crown the winner of Total Drama Sims!!

Our finalists are Lilium Pond and Dahlia Grove. These two have outlasted everyone else and now, all of the eliminated contestants will be coming together to vote for a winner as a jury! Votes will be public, so you will know who votes for who.

Voting will go from the bottom of the leaderboard up (aka last place to the most recently eliminated), and will be confessional-style to make up for those who never had a confessional while on Total Drama Sims. So, without further ado, let's determine our winner!!

Willow: TV show review

The show is just as endearing as the movie.

In 1998, the fantasy adventure film, "Willow" was released in theaters to mixed reviews but found success at the box office. In the movie, a young farmer named Willow stumbles upon a special baby he must protect from an evil queen. I watched the film a few months back and found myself mildly but pleasantly enjoyed. It reeks of cheesy goodness. The special effects whenever magic users utilize magic spells, the direction of action scenes, and a predictable story attribute to the corniness of the 90's film. If anything, what fuels the movie are the performances. Warwick Davis brings authenticity to his character Willow Ulfgood. The supporting cast also does a fine job with their characters. Val Kilmer as Madmartigan was a fun romp, and Ruth Greenfield as Elora Danan was equally enjoyable. "Willow" isn't anything to sing the highest praises about, but a family film. It reminds me of "The NeverEnding Story," though not as good, in my opinion.

I had never heard of Willow until I heard they were making a series continuation on Disney Plus. Upon viewing the trailer for the film, I found myself enchanted. I was not disappointed with the film; it was pretty much how I expected it to be. And I liked it enough to check out the Disney Plus original.

The show is just as good as the movie.

Twenty years after Willow found that baby and basically saved the world, he returns with a new group of heroes who venture on a new quest. Once again, Warwick Davis returns as the titular character, Willow, and he hasn't missed a step. Davis picked up right where he left off with the Willow, and it's fun to see him in the role again. He is probably the best part of the series.

His supporting cast is…okay. By the end of the eight-episode run, I didn't care for any of them as much as I did Davis as Willow. The baby Willow found in the film has grown up and finds herself learning magic from Willow. The prodigal student Elora, played by Ellie Bamber, is decent in her role. Alongside Willow and Elora are a handful of newcomers. Ruby Cruz plays Princess Kit Tanthalos, a princess looking to save her twin brother from nefarious clutches. Erin Kellyman is Jade, a knight in training. Tony Revolori is Graydon, the prince of a different kingdom from Kit, and Amar Hadha-Patel is Boorman, a previously imprisoned, recently set free swordsman and treasure hunter. I like the representation of minorities in the show. Amongst a predominantly straight, white cast, you've got Revolori and Hadha-Patel, of Guatemalan and Indian origin, and a blossoming relationship between Jade and Kit. It helps that the characters are likable enough to keep the show going. The action scenes are nothing to write home about but passable. The dialogue between characters doesn't flow as well as it should. There are attempts at comedy that don't necessitate a laugh from me. None of these aspects are particularly so egregious to bring it down horrendously. It's just things I hope are improved upon in the next season.

Really, the only thing I straight up don't like is the soundtrack. None of the songs used throughout the show work, too poppy and unfitting for a show of this genre.

If you're looking for a light fantasy adventure series to enjoy somewhat casually though then Willow is the way to go. It's not the deepest, ground-breaking, thought-provoking media out there, but it's absolutely fine for what it is. If you haven't seen the film, I recommend checking it out, and if you like it, then watch the show. Both "Willow," the movie and the series, are 3/5 to me.

Thank you, genuinely, so much, for this correction. I'm very sorry for the mistake. I create these guides between work assignments (I work from home, around the clock, trying to make ends meet in this mess of an economy) and didn't do my due diligence in double-checking every book. I think this started as an aro/ace list I was compiling and I tried to separate it into two guides. I apologize for the discrepancy vehemently and will strive to do better in the future. Reason for Hating: I found the book to be uninspired and lacking creativity. Did not really like or care for the characters.

TV Show: Wednesday

Reason for Hating: I felt like they glossed Wednesday Adams over. I wanted her to be more unsettling and disturbing and not someone people would like. They took the Adams Family and turned it into a high school drama/romance/murder mystery?????? Did not enjoy.

Movie: every single hallmark movie played in my vicinity

Reason for Hating: so. cheesy. no. complexity. will. die.

I don't play music/podcasts/video games I don't like so no least favorites for those!
