HS2OUR BEST TICKET ADVICE

Ok friends, here is my best HS2OUR advice. Be sure to check for specifics of YOUR SHOW on Harry’s Tour Page. My advice is based on living in the US, so there will be some differences based on region.

BUILD A TEAM - Enlist non-fandom and fandom friends alike. Can a non-fandom friend take 30 minutes out of their day? I realize it’s not the current situation, but I definitely got LOTS of folks to sign up for codes for Arena Harry. Do you have fandom friends in different time zones? The more folks you have trying, the better the chances.

KNOW WHEN YOUR PRESALES START - Check your tour page.

START 30 MINUTES EARLY - Get ready. Get in your headspace. Make sure all your details are right. There are waiting rooms. They start 10 minutes before go time (in the US). But get your head in the game. Sing some High School Musical if you want to. You will be asked to verify your cell phone number when you get in the waiting room, but that means you’re set when you go into the queue. The speed with which you enter the waiting room does not seem to matter, so don’t fret.

MAKE SURE YOUR PAYMENT SHIT IS RIGHT - Check your credit card and address in your Ticketmaster/Live Nation account. Don’t fuck with that shit in the moment. I got all the way to the end for Glasto tickets and fucked it up because I didn’t have the right credit card info. Don’t make this mistake.

DON’T FUCK WITH A BAD INTERNET CONNECTION - if you have bad wifi, go somewhere with good wifi. Be careful on public connections because you will be transferring credit card data. I made this mistake and it almost cost me One Night Only tickets. You’ll go from the waiting room into the queue and the speed of your internet matters here.

PAY ATTENTION TO TICKET LIMITS - Ticketmaster will cross check every bit of your information. So, don’t go over the limits for an individual human for tickets. They’ll check CC, address, name, email, phone. And they’re looking for scalpers. Don’t get caught in the cross-fire. The limit is 4 tickets PER CODE but also PER VENUE. Pay attention if you’re in a city with multiple nights at the same venue. But you can check by clicking MORE INFO.

DECIDE ON WHAT YOU WANT - In an arena environment, it’s much less likely that you just straight-up won’t get tickets. Like, WAY less likely. I don’t like to speak in absolutes, but I really don’t think that’s the issue. If you want pit or first couple rows, keep at it. I did Poptopia for almost 2 hours and they released better seats later. So, my advice would be, don’t settle for something you don’t want. Ticketmaster seems to be playing on our anxiety. The fear is that we won’t get good seats so then we take the first good seats that we can manage. Then, we keep trying. And when they release better seats, we have to resell the first ones, driving the prices up. (I’m sure I’ll get follow-up questions on this, happy to answer).

ONE ACCOUNT PER QUEUE - This is different. If you are in the same queue with the same account, you’ll get kicked out. And if you were logged in as one and then logged in as another, it doesn’t always realize. So, I would restart your computer and your phone. And if you have 2 accounts, login to one on each device.

KEEP TRYING - You’ll get the, sorry a fan beat you to those seats. Keep trying. It takes longer to get what you want in an arena show.

ASK FOR THINGS - If you don’t get tickets and you feel like you want to cry, talk about it on Tumblr. Let people know you’re looking. I got a second ticket for SF Harry because I was open about needing one. I have found this fandom to be incredibly generous. I have two tags and am willing to post asks with either. You can look at my HAS TICKETS and NEEDS TICKETS tags.

REMEMBER RESALE TICKETS MAY BE CHEAPER - All but the best seats will likely be cheaper closer to time. Pit tickets won’t be. The first several rows won’t be.

As always, I will make the statement that buying tickets does not make a fan better. I always want to be sure that the folks who want them have the best chance of getting them. That’s my motivation.

Hi! I want to organize something like a rainbow lights project for one of Harry's shows maybe, but I've barely seen anyone on tumblr who's going, and I'm afraid it might not reach a lot of people and will ultimately flop. I assume I'm not the only one in this case, sooo... Any ideas? Should I try Twitter? Oh and thank you so much for what you do! 🌈✨

Aaaaah, rainbow lights projects - not the easiest thing in the world to make them succeed! But that’s exactly why they are so wonderful.

You can’t be succesful if you’re not willing to take the risk of failure.

In terms of tips and tricks, here are a few -  we are working on a full length HOW TO post (anyone has tips, feel free to share and we’ll put them in):

When to/when not to:

- solo shows are better than festival type shows, it’s difficult when half of the audience is not there for the same artist - you’re good there

- time to prepare is needed - you can’t do this on a whim/in a week - harry’s tour is not for ages

- venue with majority seated tickets (otherwise people don’t know which section they should be in)

How to:

- step 1: look for a map of the venue - in the layout for that particular concert (this is crucial) - divide it up in colours - stick to existing sections - the clearer the better

(this one’s for Louis’ Poptopia by the way!!!) - Also make sure you know what to do with the general admission/floor - as you can’t easily divide that up - in Milan they did miniprideflags on the floor instead of lights, in Bologna they did flowers - really beautiful both. 

- step 2: pick a moment in the show when you want to do this (first song  or a particular song that you know is going to be on the setlist) - ideally pick a song that’s linked to rainbow projects - like SoTT for Harry ( like the people in Paris & Oberhausen did) - if you don’t pick SoTT, be aware that during HSLOT 2018, Harry would always ask people to turn up the flashlights for SoTT so people would usually do the rainbow again then. 

- step 3: make it known to everyone who wants to listen that you are organising this and this is the layout, this is the song - the sooner people know and the louder you are - the less chances of “competition” for a different colour schedule or a different project during the same song - we’ve seen it happen - it usually kills both projects a bit - for maximum loudness: use us, use update accounts (the Paris rainbow, the first one that was successful, was organised by an update account), use big accounts, ask everyone for help, use existing tags ( #rainbowlights, and #rainbowdirection ) and create your own (#turnforestrainbow was very successful with that, little followers but the tag went wild) - be on tumblr AND twitter, and IG if you can. create a new account for the project if needs be. (examples: https://twitter.com/NHforestrainbow   @RainbowHProject @msg_rainbow)  that makes it easy for people to find all information easily. tweet often, search people out to rope them in, ask them for help to retweet and reblog and spread the word. search the tags for your show regularly. talk to everyone who is going to that show. talk to everyone who is or ever has organised a rainbow lights project, that will help too

Oh, and it helps to have 1 single picture with all the information on it - so everyone just needs to retweet reblog regram or share that (include your blog your twitter your Ig your FB, your every handle on there

- step 4: little pieces of paper or little stickers work best - so get moving with producing as many little pieces of coloured paper as you will need to hand one to every person in the venue - people have tried with the colour app - you can promote that - but it doesn’t work as well. People don’t download an app on the spot - while holding a piece of paper they’ve been given on the spot in front of their phone flashlight is easy. so you are going to need to bring all those pieces, and hand them out 

- step 5: get in some help preparing the pieces of paper, because you cannot do that by yourself. reach out to people early - you can ask us for help in finding other rainbowminded people going to your concert - but for this you don’t strictly need people going to the concert rope in your friends and family - you’ll be cutting pieces of paper for a lot of your evenings. What has worked wel is little pieces of paper with the instructions on them - or stuck to them.

- step 6: hand out the pieces of paper on the day - there are several ways in which you can make this work - contacting the venue beforehand is always a good idea - they can allow you access between sections  if you cannot find enough people who are going to the concert who are in different sections of the venue. you’ll need to arrive way too early to hand out pieces of paper to everyone separately so it helps if you put the pieces of paper in plastic bags per row and ask the first person to take one and pass it on to the rest of their row. 

You cannot start too early because a lot of people will not yet be there, and so on, and so on... What we’ve also seen that works are posters on poles along the way from public transport/parking to the venue and on the walls at the venue (again something you may be discussing with them beforehand) with the explanation of the project and pieces of paper/stickers  that people can take

Louis is playing another show! He was announced today as an act at Poptopia in San Jose CA USA on Dec 5!! FIRST US SHOW! He says (in his Indonesian radio interview) that he wants us to remember that "I always always see you guys, you know what I mean?" which is interesting on any number of levels though also, always, alarming (and embarrassing). Well see this Louis, we're freaking out! As usual! But today because you're playing more shows, like truly omg you guys... LT tour is really coming!!!

Liam appeared in multiple cute video segments covering topics like astrology ("I've been thinking of getting into that"), tattoos ("I thought about getting my X factor number tattooed on me," which of course he did do, like he's clearly just making up random shit about every question he's asked but this is a wild new extreme, amazing), and whether he's "a daddy" (.....um. I'll leave that recap for Grindr to cover), and made a well documented trip to Times Square to see the Stack It Up billboard go live at midnight. He also posted an awkward pic of him and Maya hamming it up for the camera and gushed about how happy they are together... and tagged his whole team in it thanking them for their great work during promo. The tabloids and segments of the fandom latched onto some comments he made about not talking to the rest of the boys all the time and decided he had said he and Harry hated each other (what I'd call a radical interpretation of the text to say the least); Harry swooped in and liked Liam's tweet so take that haters. They all always always see us but Harry's 'tweet like your grandma is reading it' advice never did take hold so they're really seeing... things. Alas.

Pictures of Harry in boxing gear and a wee fringe ponytail at a gym in LA came out today, and Liam Gallagher talked again about meeting him at the studio: he says he told him a story about buying fish and didn't think he was really paying attention, "Harry was like 'oh right,' he was just looking at his painted fingernails. Anyway two days later a big bag of seabass comes to my studio, the door goes, ding dong, and it’s three grands worth of seabass." While I know for a fact that they do all kinds of things unobserved all the damn time, in this particular case weirdly Harry was in fact seen at that very time and it was reported that he was "buying a large amount of fish." Which I foolishly assumed to mean like, oh, enough for a large meal perhaps! I really have to stop thinking on a normal scale with these ding dongs I swear. WBK: Harry Styles, he is not just like us.

Niall posted a picture of himself with some kind of hair treatment on then deleted it and everyone freaked out waiting to find out if he was bleaching. Niall: "hahaha I didn't even know I deleted it." No word on the hair.
