In celebration of David Bowie’s birthday! 👨‍🎤
David Bowie, who was dressed by Thierry Mugler for a number of tours, videos, and events, wore this green wool crepe suit with collarless jacket in the music video for Tin Machine’s “You Belong in Rock ‘n’ Roll.”
Currently on display in Thierry Mugler: Couturissime, this minimalist jacket was originally part of the “Les Cow-boys” Spring/Summer 1992 pret-a-porter collection. However, this is not the first time this design has been displayed at the Brooklyn Museum. Visitors to “David Bowie is” may remember seeing the suit as one of the roughly 400 works presented from the David Bowie Archive. In that 2018 exhibition, the suit was shown with a t-shirt which said, “F*ck You I ❤️ Tin Machine,” which was a response to the many who questioned his being a member of a band after being a successful solo artist for so many years.
In addition to the green suit in the “Thierry Mugler” exhibition, we are also displaying a dress from Mugler’s 1979-80 “Spirale Futuriste” collection, that Bowie wore in the music video for “Boys Keep Swinging” (1979), which was filmed in February. In December of that year, Bowie performed “Man Who Owned the World” on Saturday Night Live with back-up singers Joey Arias and Klaus Nomi, who both wore Mugler dresses, featuring his signature padded shoulders.

Spence - Crawford Preview: Errol Spence Jr Last 5
Errol Spence fights Terence Crawford in Las Vegas on July 29th --- a fight I’ve been hoping for for years. We’ll do an abridged last 5 for each of them, since they’ve been covered pretty extensively here over the years. Today we’ll look at Errol Spence Jr, a fighter I really like, but who’s gear has gone from good to good and terrible over the past few years. Weird amounts of fur, incongruous color combinations etc.
Things were less crazy back in June of 2018 when he beat Carlos Ocampo in Dallas:
Tumblr media
A full Dallas Cowboys set with black adidas shoes and Everlast gloves. Referenced here in a previous Spence last 5, in case you want to look back all the way to 2016.
He beat Mikey Garcia in Dallas in March of 2019 wearing sort of a distressed white and gold look:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It was a terrible fight, so I covered it only very briefly here.
In September of 2019 Spence beat Shawn Porter by decision in Los Angeles wearing a nice black and snakeskin set:
Tumblr media
Zero complaints with this look from Spence. Full review of this fight here.
Spence had his car accident shortly after this fight, and recovered for 15 months before fighting Danny Garcia in Dallas in December 2020:
Tumblr media
This is when things started getting a little weird. Spence was consistent with his use of Everlast gloves and Adidas shoes -- but suddenly there was lots of neon, fur and clashing materials. Full review of this fight here, warning to those who are photosensitive.
In April of 2022 Spence fought again after a lengthy layoff (largely due to a retina injury) -- brutally stopping Yordenis Ugas in 10 rounds in Dallas.
Tumblr media
Obviously, Spence is slowly becoming Matthew Lesko. Or maybe The Joker? Anyway - full review of this fight here.
July 29th is coming up fast.
Respect box.

Benedict Cumberbatch To Star In ‘The Thing With Feathers’ Movie – Deadline
"...signed to star in Dylan Southern’s adaptation of Max Porter’s acclaimed novel Grief is the Thing With Feathers, about a father and his two young sons dealing with the sudden death of their wife and mother.
Cumberbatch will play a young father whose hold on reality crumbles following his wife’s death as a strange presence begins to stalk him from the shadowy recesses of the apartment he shares with his two young sons.
This mysterious creature, known as “Crow,” seemingly brought to life from the pages of his work as an illustrator, becomes a very real part of all their lives, ultimately guiding them towards the new shape family must take.
The feature adaptation, entitled The Thing With Feathers, is produced by Andrea Cornwell with SunnyMarch’s Adam Ackland and Leah Clarke. The script was developed with Film4, which will executive produce and co-finance. The crow figure will be created for the screen in collaboration with the sculptor Nicola Hicks.
Porter’s bestselling 2016 first novel was named a Sunday Times ‘Top 100 Novel of the Twenty-first Century’ and has been sold in 29 territories. It was also adapted into an acclaimed stage play that opened in Dublin in March 2018, and then toured to New York, Galway and London.
“Having been a huge fan of Max Porter’s extraordinary book and Enda Walsh’s stage adaptation I was skeptical about a film adaptation. But the experience of reading Dylan Southern’s adaptation rekindled the cinematic memory of reading this most visceral tale of a family consumed by grief,” said Cumberbatch"
I swear, Benedict could sell ice to Eskimos. It doesn't change the fact that this would have been yet another triggering piece of Trauma porn. And doesn't this sound almost exactly like Eric? We now know that he is not the only actor being subjected to this sickness.
Hollywood has lost it's mind, thinking:
1. This is cool.
2. No one will notice.
WE'VE NOTICED.

Une terre déserte
Tumblr media

Tumblr media
« I Gotta Feeling » des Black Eyed Peas
Tumblr media
« Mazel Tov ! »
« Not Afraid » d’Eminem
Tumblr media
R.E.P. Slim Shady.
« Super Bass » de Nicki Minaj
Tumblr media
Sorti le 21 juin 2011. Certifié Diamant le 9 novembre 2021.
« Boom, badoom, boom, boom, badoom, boom, bass »
« Love The Way You Lie » d’Eminem featuring Rihanna
Tumblr media
Notez que quelques mois plus tard Riri a enregistré un Love the Way You Lie, Pt.
Un mythe tombe.
« See You Again » de Wiz Khalifa featuring Charlie Puth
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
Paix à son âme.
« I Like it » de Cardi B featuring Bad Bunny & J Balvin
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
« Old Town Road » de Lil Nas X featuring Billy Ray Cyrus
Tumblr media
« The Box » de Roddy Ricch
Tumblr media
(Just The Way You Are, Grenade, Uptown Funk, That’s What I Like, When I Was Your Man)

The Kingdom Choir Return With New Single & US Tour Dates
Tumblr media
Offering love, hope and inspiration, The Kingdom Choir today make a timely return with their brand-new single “Not Giving Up”. Founded in 1994 by Karen Gibson MBE (the Godmother of Gospel), The Kingdom Choir have continued to win hearts since their unforgettable performance at the 2018 Royal Wedding in front of a global televised audience of 2 billion people. Listen to “Not Giving Up” HERE. Offering a ray of hope amongst the darkness, “Not Giving Up” is instantly affecting as Wayne Ellington’s rich, baritone exalts the power that comes with believing that better times are waiting ahead of us. While his voice alone would make for a captivating, emotional experience, the harmonies from the rest of The Kingdom Choir take it to a whole new level with their grace, majesty and sheer expressiveness able to move anyone.  “Not Giving Up” was written by Alex Hart, Greg Dwight, Karen Gibson, Wilson Atie, Jonathan Owusu-Yianomah and produced by Alex Hart and Jonathan Owusu-Yianomah. The Kingdom Choir commented, “In our changing world, this is the song that rises from our hearts. It speaks of freedom and a determination to press on, a reminder that hope takes us through the broken moments of life onto a brighter day.” “Not Giving Up” is also a reflection of The Kingdom Choir’s own journey. Karen Gibson had led the choir for over two decades before their breakthrough moment in the spotlight, during which time the group – spread across London and from various Christian traditions – became renowned for their shared talents, collective spirit, and instantly uplifting performances. The Kingdom Choir’s performances have remained in global demand ever since their performance at the Royal Wedding, with highlights including the Invictus Games, ITV’s Concert for Ukraine, Prince Albert II of Monaco’s 2021 gala, Expo 2020 and a headline show at the Hollywood Bowl. They have been sought out as collaborators by artists such as Gladys Knight, Gregory Porter, Emelie Sandé, and Madness, as well as for brand collaborations which have included Cartier, Ralph Lauren, Coca-Cola, Burberry, British Airways, and Marks & Spencer. The Kingdom Choir ended 2022 by performing as special guests at Trevor Nelson’s Soul Christmas extravaganza at the Royal Albert Hall alongside the likes of Corinne Bailey-Rae and Andrew Roachford. Reading week homework (brand 2)
Mugler
Manfred Thierry Mugler is the mastermind behind the Mugler empire. The iconic sihloettes and collaborations have helped change and shape the fashion industry into what it is today. The brand is infamous for its impact in pop culture in the 80’s and 90’s but that’s not to say that it doesn’t have just as big of an impact in todays culture with iconic looks such as Kim Kardashians wet dress from the 2019 met gala still creating waves on social media.
Tumblr media
Vision and Purpose
When watching a Mugler runway show the exaggerated silhouettes and theatrical designs instantly capture viewers attentions. The ethereal feeling evoked from the designs makes it clear to see inspiration was drawn from otherworldly motifs and ideas. Violette Conroy (2022) described Muglers runway shows as a " pure spectacle, drawing varied inspiration from science fiction, vampires, devils, robots and the aquatic underworld" When going through the brands catalogue it is very apparent that the designs are made to redefine the boundaries of what we call fashion. The range of models used within campaigns and runway shows only further emphasises the idea of fashion being about freedom of expression, as stated on the Mugler website the brand focuses on defying "the laws of space and time through its sculptural and versatile works. A powerful act of creation with vast possibilities. A fusion of opposites, the MUGLER universe is an experimental laboratory. Inspired by imagination and curated by culture, we cultivate an avant-garde approach."
The reoccurring theme of freedom of expression throughout Muglers work is something that resonates with the brand we are creating during this module. We are focusing on creating garments that celebrate the fusion of South Asian and Western cultures allowing people to express their culture and heritage in a new way. We are trying to create clothes which give people a new freedom in how they can feel connected to their roots.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Brand identity
Mugler garments stand out against other fashion brands and are easily identifiable by the exaggerated silhouettes, cut outs and embellishment. As the brand has developed over time they have adapted to what is deemed as trendy whilst still staying true to the brand ethos of creating garments that exaggerate and appreciate the beauty of the female body. When considering how our own brand is going to be identified by consumers we think we will also create garments which stand apart due to embellishment.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Customer
'Mugler is a luxury fashion and perfume brand known worldwide as one of the biggest names synonymous with sex appeal and confidence' (Carbon Magazine March 2022) All over social media you can see a wide range of people showing interest in the brand. In 2018 the brand launched a new line of genderless fragrances which targeted Millennials and Gen Z consumers. This shows that the brand is actively identifying what it is that is important to people to see how they can create products to target these desires which is something we plan to do with our own brand too. When it come to the actual garments created by the brand the target audience is people with money. The garments themselves attract the attention of all types of people however due to the brand being a luxury high fashion brand the price of the garments means that for many people it is out of reach.
Price
When looking at the fragrance prices you can see the prices are not out of the ordinary for a luxury fashion brands perfume line with prices ranging from £25 - £160. The pricing of garments begins at around €200 and ranges into the thousands depending on the pieces.
Place
Mugler has an online storefront where you can purchase fragrances clothing and accessories. You can also shop online for Mugler pieces at the websites of retailers such as Selfridges, Net-A-Porter, Harvey Nichols etc. Although there are no Mugler boutiques you can still have an in person shopping experience in stores such as Flannels, Browns, Selfridges, Nordstrom etc.
Promotion
Mugler is known for its iconic runway shows presenting the haute couture and ready to wear collections. One thing about Muglers runway shows that helped them stand apart from other designers is that they've always used a range of models who are different sizes and skin colours, Mugler also used drag queens and transgender people in his runway shows. He really created a sense of inclusivity within the diverse range of models used in runway shows and campaigns. Mugler has also always been keen on Celebrity endorsement from dressing 80's icons such as David Bowie to present day musicians such as Megan thee Stalion.
With our own brand we also wish to create a sense of inclusivity.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Packaging
One of muglers most iconic branding/ Packaging moments was the release of their Alien perfume in the iconic Star shaped bottle which was something that was totally new and never seen before.

What's Next For Terence Crawford?

Published: December 16, 2022
The boxing fraternity was preparing itself for Terence “Bud” Crawford to face Errol Spence Jr for the undisputed welterweight championship until, in true anticlimactic fashion, those talks did not come to fruition. Instead, Crawford made the sixth defense of his WBO welterweight title against a tough David Avanesyan at the CHI Health Center in Omaha.
The shining light to emerge from this fight was that it finally marked the return of Bud. After a year-long layoff, he made his comeback on the newly emerging and unknown platform of BLK Prime pay-per-view.
Nobody was clamoring for this fight, but given Crawford’s inactivity and the American recently turning 35, momentum is key entering 2023.
Avanesyan was no slouch by any means. He is a worthy and deserving title challenger. Unbeaten fighters with high hopes were stopped in their home territory by the Russian. After the Crawford and Spence showdown became so tantalizingly close to being finalized, a shadow was always going to be cast over anything that followed.
Since his loss to Egidijus “Mean Machine” Kavaliauskas in February 2018, Avanesyan was in the hottest form of his career, stopping all six opponents, including the likes of Kerman Lejarraga and Josh Kelly. An undefeated Lejarraga was stopped in the ninth round in their first meeting in March 2019. Then, in the immediate rematch, Lejarraga was steamrolled in the first round. Josh Kelly was an undefeated British prospect, viewed as someone to watch out for in the future, with a potentially high ceiling. Avanesyan derailed those hopes and set the Englishman back by nearly two years until Kelly’s recent impressive win of his own against Troy Williamson.
Crawford was making his first appearance in a professional boxing ring since his most significant victory to date against former welterweight champion Shawn Porter in November 2021. Crawford became the first man to stop Porter, the immensely talented switch-hitter reminding people about his capabilities. Such a reminder again was overdue, and it came in devastating fashion.
Crawford gradually broke Avanesyan down over the first five rounds with consistently debilitating body shots and uppercuts; then, a swift right hook knocked Avanesyan out cold with 46 seconds left in the sixth round.
Crawford has all-time great talent and is one of the finest and most complete fighters in the modern era, but with the clock ticking, Crawford needs to cement a legacy that matches his in-ring talent with a career-defining fight. Bud cannot afford to have many more of these sorts of fights, in which he faces dangerous and risky opponents that offer nothing more for his legacy, especially when it is his only fight of the year.
Fighters of the caliber of Avanesyan, with all due respect, are not legacy-defining opponents for Crawford. Avanesyan is an unknown quantity in America, and his scalp is highly unlikely to embellish Crawford’s resume in any way.
Make no mistake, Crawford deserves all the credit in the world for his achievements and consistency. This was his 17th successive world title fight. Reaching the top is one thing. Greatness is staying there. We have recently witnessed Josh Taylor become the undisputed super lightweight champion, then awarded a controversial points win in the first defense of his undisputed status against Jack Catterall. Teofimo Lopez reached the mountain top at 135 lbs against Vasiliy Lomachenko to become unified lightweight champion, then lost in the first defense of his unified titles against George Kambosos Jr. These are quality fighters, but also provide examples of how challenging it can be to stay at the peak of the mountain once it is reached.
Avanesyan was no easy knock-over job for Crawford. However, Crawford is now at a stage where only the elite will suffice as opponents. He has won world titles and defended them against a host of contenders. Now, he needs to face his elite generational rival, Spence, to write his name into the history books as one of America’s true pugilistic greats.
Ultimately, this Avanesyan fight perfectly summarised Crawford’s career. Crawford is taking a risky fight that he will get no credit for winning after the frustration of yet another year of not getting the Spence super-fight.
There is still time for Crawford to get the fights the public wants to see and, most importantly, that Crawford’s career needs. By all means, the negotiations table can now be revisited to see if the Spence showdown can finally happen. There are young and hungry welterweights like Jaron “Boots” Ennis and Vergil Ortiz Jr waiting in the wings for their title shot. They can also be big fights for Crawford. Bud has even expressed his desire to move up to super welterweight and challenge undisputed champion Jermell Charlo.
If these fights happen, the general perception of Crawford will change drastically.
