"Don't shove it down our throats"
"Protect the kids, keep this away from them"
No. Stop.
We need to keep showing it
We need to let people that they are seen.
We need to show these kids. Kids. That they have someone.
Why?
Because queer youth are 4 times more likely to commit suicide than their peers
Because 45 percent or queer youth have considered suicide within the last year
Because a young queer person attempts suicide every 45 seconds
Because having just one supportive adult reduscing the risk of suicide in queer teens by 40 percent
If you want to protect the kids, save our fucking lives
Instead of saying to stop shoving it down your throats
Take the pills out of our throats
Take the noose off our necks
Take the blades and guns out of our hands
And let them out their hands there instead
So they can hold us and help us
And listen an let us know
Hey. I see you. I hear you. Your feelings are valid. And you are loved
If you care about the children then let us be seen and heard...
At this point I'm scared for my life... If I didn't have a support adult that had that sign on their door at school and wore that pin I would be dead
That sign. That pin. They don't hurt the straight cis kids. They don't cause harm. They don't get affected by them. But it saved my life...
So please. Stop saying stuff like that.
To other queer kids, please. Here me. You are loved. You will be accepted one day. My messages are open. You deserve to be alive. You're not broken. You're not a fuck up. You are a person just like me and all those other 8 billion on this planet. You are worth so much more than what theyve said. I love you so so so so so much. This world is better with you here. It's better with you and your personality because you're unique. We need people who are different. I love you. I'm here if you need anything at all. And I'm so proud of you...

Y'all need to be fucking nicer to men/masc queers
I was talking to an old friend/short lived boyfriend from highschool and the topic of sexualities came up. He identified as bisexual throughout highschool but told me that recently he doesn't know what he was and just preferred to remain 'unlabeled' until he figured it out. I told him to his face "thats valid man and being unlabeled doesn't make you any less queer than when you were labeled"
God you should've seen his fucking face, he looked so happy and also like he was about to goddamn cry. He told me that no one ever told him that. That he tried to join queer spaces but they said he didn't fit in cause he wasn't 'gay' enough. Told me that I was the first person to ever confidently tell him he was queer and that he didn't need to change himself to 'fit in'.
I gave my friend one of my mini pride flags I had lying around and the dopey grin he had on his face while waving that thing around for the rest of the night made me smile too. When he finally went home he thanked me for the flag and for reassuring him when he felt insecure for 'not being gay enough'.
I want y'all to know that whole time he telling me about people not accepting him for "not looking queer" made me fucking pissed. Oh, because he's not petite, feminine, and white he can't be queer? Because he doesn't look like a fashionable and conventionally pretty gay on you'd find on your TikTok homepage he can't be queer?
THIS ISN'T EVEN THE FIRST TIME I'VE HAD THIS CONVERSATION WITH A FRIEND BEFORE
In highschool I had ANOTHER friend who had this same problem but in a different font. He liked cute things, he liked flowing fabrics and skirts, he even liked being called princess! But because he was fat and not conventionally attractive he felt like he couldn't be queer. Because from what he saw, queer people don't look like him.
If you're one of those people who would gatekeep ANYONE who doesn't fit into your Pinterest board ideal version of queer from the LGBTQ+ community, you can fuck right off because anyone who would just shut of someone out of our community for something so petty and dumb and ignorant doesn't deserve the keys to the fucking door in the first place.
Start treating people who don't fit into your saturated and commercialized view of queer with more respect and kindness before I start biting off your fucking arms

I finally managed to snap a photo of this billboard. For some reason I never had my phone out whenever I passed previously.

Hi hello I (an aroace) have been thinking about aromantic representation (or lack there of) in media and fanfiction and all the things I wish I could see out of what little we have so here goes.
I want to see the wider spectrum, and the fact that it's a spectrum in the first place. I want to see both the struggles and joys of aromantic. I want to see relationships that aren't bound to the societal norms of platonic and romantic relationships
I want to see characters who struggle to tell the difference between platonic and romantic attraction.
I want to see them be comfortable and happy being aro and having close friends.
Lets have characters who do experience romantic attraction, but have no desire to be in a romantic relationship, and have that be okay.
Lets have the reverse, where characters don't experience romantic attraction but do want to be in a romantic relationship.
Lets have characters who's experience of romantic attraction fluctuates.
I want to see aro/allo and aro/aro and aro/ace stuff
I want to see stories of family and friends struggling to understand non traditional or romantic partnerships, and sometimes they come around and sometimes they don't, but you are never alone because your partner and your friends and your family who care are there for you
There should be stories about the struggle of the societal expectation/normalization of putting romantic partners over friendships, and the people who get left behind because of that
There should be stories of people who are in a romantic relationship, and realize that one or both of them is aro, but love their partner in a platonic sense or Secret Third Way and who work through it together
Let there be cute little domestic slice of life fics about platonic life partners or qprs
Let QPR representation be different in every iteration, it's a queer relationship that isn't defined by anything other than the people in it. Let them resemble platonic relationships or romantic relationships or both or neither
Give me characters who love their person deeply and violently and intrinsically but it's a little to the left of platonic and a little to the right of romantic
Give me characters who are greyromantic and demiromantic and aroflux (ect.) navigating the struggles and highs and lows of being those identites
Give me relationships that are a mix of platonic and romantic but not necessarily either one
Give me platonic life partners who love each other and live their lives together
Give me non-traditional relationships in general TLDR; there are so many options for representation of aromantistim and non traditional relationships and I want to see them all
The way I crave more aromantic tropes will never be satiated, these were just off the top of my head while word-vomiting, there are so many more ways to do this kind of representation, so don't be afraid to add on your own thoughts in the reblogs and comments! I just wanted to share some of the silly little thoughts rattling around in my skull. Hell I might come back with more in a week, who knows lol

just a reminder that you don't have to put a label on your identity, you can be simply "not straight" or "not cis" and no one can speak out against that saying things like "isn't that just gay?" or "oh you're trans?" you don't owe people an explanation on who you are, you don't have to put yourself in a box, live freely, don't care about what people say about you because the only person who knows you and understands you entirely is you. <3

Pride is still important because people out there wish they were dead so they don’t have to be gay.
Pride is still important because dickheads out there call us pedos and groomers because we aren’t straight or cis.
Pride is still important because first world countries are trying to strip us of our rights again.
Pride is still important because kids in school get bullied for being queer.
Pride is still important because every day people are hate crimed, thrown out of their homes or even killed for being queer.
Pride is still important because we need to stand together, united, against these horrible thoughts, feelings, people and more.
Pride is still important to me.

Our community still suffers with extreme homophobia that is gaslighted and brushed under the rug. The hate is so normalized
