most ppl won’t pay attention, but it’s really important for us to keep in mind that Evan Rachel Wood & Amber Heard are both bisexual and that will absolutely affect what “accusations” and vile shit gets said about and to them. it’s the ingrained norm to treat bisexuals like they’re sneaky and untrustworthy and no one gives it a second thought. biphobia is playing a huge role in this. and you should be paying attention to that.

its so interesting that one of the many ideal lessons that could and should have been taken away from the d*pp v heard case is that: survivors of abuse should not be denied decency or justice because of how they were compelled to act while trying to survive constant abuse. indeed, what the case did show through expert witnesses and evidence is that people experiencing abuse are in trauma induced states that make it difficult for them to navigate social interactions because they’re literally in survival mode. again, this isn’t even new information from the case itself, its been proven over decades of peer reviewed research. yet not only was amber heard treated with mass contempt for defending herself.............. ppl are now mad at evan rachel wood - also a survivor of rape, violent abuse, bipobia fueled smear campaigns - for not saying/doing the “right” things/behaving ideally. how many survivor’s wellbeings are youse going to endanger because you’ve decided they’re not behaving the way you want them to? When is everyone going to realise that striving for equity and justice means NOTHING if you think the only people who deserve rights are the people you agree with?

More thoughts on the Flake thing
I know everyone's jaded from how the Till thing turned out to be largely crying wolf when ppl were much more open-minded/critical at the beginning but pls try to look at it neutrally, imagine it was your least favorite politician.
Let us please consider that "several witnesses said she spoke about it at the time, including therapists (not family members who might conceivably lie)" is the highest standard of proof you can realistically get with rape. They convicted Trump recently on the same level of proof.
If that's not enough, then all rapists would get off scott free unless they did it in public or in front of a camera.
Besides, ppl making it up is rare, because it's serious and gets your targetted. Rare does NOT mean zero but in those Amber Heard, Evan Rachel Woods type cases there is usually a proveable track record of the person having a personal vendetta and being demonstrably unhinged, or being pressed into it by threats of judgement (lying to protect yourself from conservative parents etc) - ppl don't just get up an day & decide to lie, it happens but it's usually a demonstrably crazy person.
What's more likely, a full blown conspiracy, or that a person who described himself in his book as having been sexually irresponsible back when he had a drinking problem was extremly careless in a way that caused someone serious trauma & harm?
is ridiculous to cry conspiracy on this. its just sobering & dissapointing to see, those responses alone kinda make me wanna quit the fandom completely and stop caring
Yes, we have to consider & feature in as a mitigating factor that people were not yet sensibilized for/ taught about freeze responses & hence expect that if someone didn't like it they would say so, but no matter how you spin it, starting to touch someone out of nowhere when they've laid down in bed after drinking too much (especially when they're younger & trust you) would have been considered taking advantage even then & regardless of the norms at the time it's not something I would want happening to me.
It's not the same degree of severity as if you're actively holding someone down or a someone who strategically looks for perving opportunities, but there's no way to spin this as consensual.
He fucked up bigtime, with very serious consequences.
I'm not calling for cancellation, demonization, torches & pitchforks or even telling anyone to stop listening to the music, but the behavior was unwanted, hurtful, and something we as a society should discourage and can't just brush under the table, even if we happen to like & sympathize with the person that did it.
I’m frustrated that this apparently still has to be explained to people, but it’s suuuper common for people to take a long time to process trauma before coming out.
It’s as airtight as can reasonably be. That 100% happened.
I don’t think it’s automatically rape because she was 17, but if it’s her first time getting shitfaced and/or having sex - or just as the host while someone else is a guest at your house - you have an extra responsibility to make sure she has a good time & it shows a distinct selfishness & disregard to be so casual about it.
This person had a traumatic experience that she went to therapy for that could have been completely avoided by just simply asking “Hey, you ok?” instead of starting to touch her just like that. Or simply letting her be if she’s already gone to bed due to feeling sick from too much booze, for crying out loud.
I hardly think that’s too much to ask to avoid someone having a traumatic experience.
I can imagine that it must be hellish for him to think he had managed to turn his life around & get over that but then find that he still did some pretty irreversible fuckup.
But we gotta consider that he had much more of a choice in crating the situation than the girl who lived with the consequences/trauma in the years after, even if we don’t know her or the details of how it impacted & stunted her life
The ppl it happened to should be allowed to say it so that people (especially thosewho in theory care of they traumatize someone) are sensibilized for the importance of enthusiastic consent because freeze responses are a thing.
I’m not saying Flake should be roasted on a pike by the mob; Rather he is a person who had a problem with alcohol and made impulsive decisions that hurt others as a result.
But there is just no way under the sun to spin that story as consensual or no big deal.
its frustrating that the mob understandings nothing short of either complete demonization/ostracism or exonoration, but the victim isnt wrong from coming out & saying what her experience of it was; Saying the truth is ever wrong
...i really wonder how the others are going to react now that its a different person being accused and some extent of undeniable wrongdoing.
I just wish that instead of this for or against circus we could be having an awareness about freeze responses & the need for enthusiastic consent and WHY people “dont just say something”

i gotta say, i havent liked JE since he followed marilyn manson when the evan rachel wood allegations went public. that to me is extremely nasty behavior and i just have to laugh at him making his following list private these days.
ppl want to pretend like hes not messy, but the man has showed himself plenty in interviews and how he treated joey and cari (for which there are plenty of receipts). it's just funny to see the narratives rewritten to make him out like some kind of unproblematic king on twitter just because he is getting jobs with interesting directors after a series of stuff that did not do well for him. what really drives me up the wall is people comparing his and z's careers, JE is a whole white man and z is a biracial woman, their playing field is not the same.
its totally fine if people like JE because if he does it for them then cool, but the part that bothers me is bringing z or any other comparisons to actors like tom or austin into it. especially z - it's just very funny to me that certain fans of hers that scream and cry whenever she's mentioned alongside tom suddenly have no issue at all whenever JE's name is put alongside hers. my block button gets a lot of use on twitter these days, lmao
Oh JE definitely has a problematic past. 😐 I can't speak to what his life is like now, but I know of too much dirt/tea on him to think that he's all of a sudden "unproblematic" now. No way lol.... 😒
I don't like the comparisons either Anon, but unfortunately, that's just a part of life in this industry. Ppl are (unfortunately) going to compare actors to each other smh. 🤷🏾‍♀️
I really don't like the comparing men to women just in general, because, like you said, different playing fields! But I ESPECIALLY don't like comparing white men to black or biracial women in the industry, because they're not on the same (or equal) playing field at all! 🥴 So the comparisons to Z are just nonsense!
Dude hasn't even been nominated for anything yet (let alone WON anything 😒), and they're ALREADY comparing JE ("I was homeless sleeping in my car") to Zendaya who's a TWO-TIME Emmy winner???
Chiiiiilllle....
Tumblr media
Talk about white privilege at its FINEST!
Would they be comparing a black woman who hasn't even won anything to a white man who's already won several awards, AND been in blockbuster films? I think not. 😒
Anyway.... my guess is, these weirdos on twitter know that Z's name will trend, so they are just using her name (and maybe even Tom's name) to get their tweets to trend. 🙄
I can understand the Austin comparisons, coz Austin's movie just came out last year, and both he and JE play the same Elvis character. 🤷🏾‍♀️
But you're right, it's all silly at the end of the day.... and most of these actors don't even pay attention to the silly nonsense that goes on the bird app. 🐦 They just mind their business and let their work speak for itself. 🤷🏾‍♀️

Angelina Jolie deserves fucking better. Ppl were DEFENDING Brad Pitt being friends with her abuser. Why r these people such bootlickers??? WTF. Ofc they’re loners on Reddit wondering why every woman on Earth hates them
We need to protect Angelina Jolie, Megan Thee Stallion, Evan Rachel Wood, and anyone else who is brave enough to come forward against their significantly more powerful abuser as well.

I don't know about you all, but after all of this #metoo bullshit that we had to put up with concerning Armie, I really don't follow other #metoo cases anymore. Colonel Kurtz is covering the false allegations against two members of the rock group Rammstein and she’s still covering Marilyn Manson, but I’m losing interest.
Frankly, two and a half years was way too long for me with all of that bullshit Lizard perpetrated!  Also, Armie Hammer was the one falsely accused man who seemed to be the underdog of the falsely accused men!  We were truly alone, with ppl defending other men who were not wanting to touch Armie’s case.  It was frustrating and lonely at times, frankly.  But when the interview came out, boy was that a much needed game-changer!  He didn't have any old YouTuber taking a second look at his case, he had the likes of Candace Owens, Megan Kelly, The 5th Column, The Times, Billy Bush, and not to mention James Kirchick!  Then, just a few months later, the LADA decided NOT to press charges!  We really came a long way!  Not to mention his win in divorce court against his main perpetrator, his now ex-wife!
Now, look where we are!  Marilyn Manson, with many of his fans believing that Armie was guilty as sin but not their precious rock star, is still waiting for the LADA to release him from limbo.  We’ve heard nothing from MM at all, and his lawsuit against Evan Rachel Wood was just about struck down by the judge!  Some supporters have stopped posting on his case, because nothing has happened, except that Evan Rachel Wood is demanding compensation from Manson for her time in court.
I think it’s blue skies for Armie now, though it will take some time-and the idiots who still believe the bullshit allegations against him will simply not matter in the future.
It’s so nice to be able to finally take a breath!
I wish Marilyn Manson and others the best of luck, and support Colonel Kurtz in spirit concerning her work, though I doubt I will continue to follow her closely passed the occasional like on IG.

Since Marilyn Manson is now suing Evan Rachel Wood for defamation, ppl on Twitter have made it their mission to say horrifically vile shit about her too. It’s so disheartening. Abusive men are gonna see defamation lawsuits as their ticket to having a better public image all thanks to Johnny Depp, it’s so fucking sick to see.
his buddy depp probably recommended suing her. but Evan has a lot of evidence, so the truth will prevail.

Evan Rachel wood got exposed for pressuring another woman to make false accusations about Marilyn Manson and now she’s losing custody of her child and is blaming Marilyn
Makes me sick nothing happens to these women
Yeppo, exactly. This "believe all women" shit has gone completely haywire, innocent men are being incriminated and innocent women are being pulled into things that they have no part of. It's literally the same thing that happened to Johnny Depp. Plus, there's actual EVIDENCE that Evan faked an FBI letter against Manson yet ppl are turning a blind eye. I would believe nothing here if it wasn't for that fact that there's concrete evidence against ERW and no concrete evidence against MM, which is lies. I toats agree with you anon xoxo

u seem like a reasonable person so i just want to put this out there re: the depp-heard trial
this trial being televised was requested by depp's legal team precisely to garner the reaction that it did. depp's team bought bots to drive the online conversation to be very biased (hence popular monikers such as amber t*rd abt an incident that has been thoroughly debunked). multiple legal experts (who are not grifters ie profiting from the agreeableness of their views) have commented on how irregular depp's legal team's strategy was — not only did they fail to really prove any financial damages, given depp lost major roles of his own volition, but they resorted to character assassination because this was more about PR for depp than winning the case. this became exceedingly clear to me when i watched one of amber's full cross examinations — the lawyer on the other end was exceedingly rude, cut her off at multiple points (when she asked a question!), and generally seemed like she was trying to get as many tiktok soundbites in as possible (which worked, i guess. lol). unlike heard's lawyers, depp's team also perpetuated harmful DV myths such as "why didn't she leave," "why didn't she document all her injuries," "why didn't she have darker bruising," "why did she buy her abuser gifts," "why didn't she tell anyone," and so on. (never mind that she did all the things we tell abuse victims to do!) heard is also the first person to ever provide televised sa testimony — which, btw, was immediately used as a tiktok sound by depp fangirls commenting on how they found it hot and would love to be on the receiving end of it.
i also want to address the anon who talked about msm journalists pushing an agenda or whatever, which.. lol. i think anytime u start distrusting credible news outlets and raving about how the mAinStReAm mEDiA is out to get u, ur veering into to qanon/trumper territory. the only outlets to lend depp support are right-wing, such as ben shapiro's daily wire — and that's not a coincidence. op i totally understand the inclination to avoid pro-AH perspectives given the terfs who have flocked to her, but a significantly larger proportion of depp supporters are MRAs/incels, so ur not going to avoid bad ppl no matter who u support.
some anecdata — literally all DV experts i've come across (such as lundy bancroft who wrote one of the most acclaimed DV books ever, the person who coined the term DARVO (and said it was the legal strategy depp employed against heard), julie owens who wrote a 27-page paper explaining why heard was the abused party, and the literal national coalition against domestic violence) have supported heard in this trial. msm journalists have largely avoided the subject of who is guilty, but have commented on the damaging consequences of the online conversation and how it's not as onesided as social media coverage would have u believe. and anyone who HAS commented explicitly has supported AH.
it's also worth reading the article she was sued over, in case u haven't already, because it's so laughably not about depp that it makes it even clearer to me that this was a circus and not a trial. but anyway
given the way u talk abt this case i don't think you've really dug into it, which i respect tbh, but i also think it's important to acknowledge the sweeping ramifications this will have for abuse victims everywhere. hundreds withdrew their abuse filings in the hours after the verdict was announced, and depp has just demonstrated a very effective playbook to the world by which someone can sue their victim and win. depp's bestie marilyn manson (accused by over 10 women) has done the same to evan rachel wood, and their trial will begin in few months' time i believe.
some starting articles i would rly recommend are "the bleak spectacle of the depp-heard trial" by michael hobbes and "who's afraid of amber heard" by rayne fisher-quann. they're short but informative reads.
obviously i would have loved to never care abt this —i was actually a huge potc fan and casually thought "good for johnny" when all this first began. but it's been inescapable and has been the largest online explosion of misogyny i've ever witnessed. i hope you reconsider ur stance and i'd be happy to provide some more resources for u if you'd like to start digging. thanks
I'ma be honest this is hard as fuck to read just because it's a giant text wall but I'm going to do my best to respond to each point individually.
First and foremost, I don't disagree that there was heavy media bias towards Depp. There were plenty of outlets in support of Heard as well, but generally speaking a lot of people were (and still are) on Depp's side. You have to remember that this is a defamation case, not a domestic violence case, which is why there was so much emphasis on PR. Depp (from what any of us understand) was falsely accused of abuse and took Heard to trial for defaming him, NOT for abusing him, even though that did become a big part of the case later on. I also don't see how the legal team of either of these people is a reflection of THEIR views, but I'll get back to that in a bit.
I should also state that there were people in the public sphere, both in defense of Depp and Heard, perpetuating myths about domestic violence, sexism, and blatant victim blaming. The mutual abuse argument is one I've seen used a lot in defense of Heard which is quite literally an abuse tactic, especially in response to reactive "abuse."
Also, mainstream media is a disease, I'm sorry. Both the pro-Depp and the pro-Heard ones, it doesn't matter, I hate any and all msm with a burning passion and comparing a distrust of it to a fucking far-right internet conspiracy cult is incredibly tone-deaf. The majority of news is just what the government WANTS us to hear and not what is actually going on, but I digress.
Lumping MRAs in with incels is equally tone-deaf and while I don't consider myself to be an MRA outright, I do follow a decent number of MRA blogs (some of which run by women!) who have been incredibly helpful to me as both a trans man and a male victim of abuse.
I also know from experience that situations like these are rarely one-sided. Coincidentally enough, while the Heard/Depp conversation is resurging, my stepdad is currently in prison on a domestic violence charge that my mom didn't even press to begin with -- it was pressed on her behalf. "It's important to acknowledge the sweeping ramifications this will have for abuse victims everywhere" my ass, the law is still HEAVILY skewed against men considering our prosecutor has literally been filing charges under my mom's name without her permission in order to persecute a man who she didn't feel victimized by to begin with and, on her own admission, provoked and engaged in combat with on her own volition. I know this is nothing more than anecdotal but you cannot seriously tell me that women are going to die when ONE male celebrity won a defamation case. Again, not a domestic violence case, a defamation case.
You're right that I didn't actively follow the trial. As I've stated before I don't give two shits about Depp or Amber and their personal lives. What I DO give a shit about is blatant fearmongering and misinformation. If this case supposedly is soooo harmful to abuse victims, then why is my stepdad falsely imprisoned on a DV charge that my mom didn't even press to begin with, under the guise of “protecting women”, months after the Depp vs Heard trial? Hm? Riddle me that.
You strike me as a person who believes everything that other people tell you. You believe the mainstream media that all have their own agenda, you believe the experts who are not infallible or immune to bias, and you believe senseless fearmongering even though nothing has really changed.

just like monica lewinsky, we’re gonna look back at these johnny wife-beater trials n 10, 20 years and say to ourselves “wow how did we let amber get so mistreated, ppl were disgusting” and y’all are gonna say you “didn’t know” the truth or that you though “both sides were equally as toxic” when there’s a literal judgement affirming he was abusive at least a dozen times and plenty of video and photographic evidence of mr jack sparrow beating the shit out of his wife, calling the mother of his children an extortionist cunt, winona ryder and kate moss talking abt him trashing hotel rooms and now his buddy and godfather of his daughter brian warner (aka marilyn manson) sharing the same counsel and suing evan rachel wood for defamation bc this joke of a trial opened a precedent
i don’t wanna hear a fucking peep from any of you spreading disinformation bullshit his russian backed lobbyist lawyer is paying bots to spread not now and esp not years from now when you finally come to your goddamn senses and amber has already been further traumatized and stripped of all her money bc of this lowlife keith richards wannabe, that is if she’s not killed by one of this asshole’s fans like they are already planning to do and she’s had to hire security for
