Tumblr media
Devastating news has taken over the internet! Rakim Hasheem Allen, better known by his stage name PnB Rock, was robbed, shot, and killed in front of his girlfriend, Stephanie Sibounheuang Monday afternoon in a Los Angeles restaurant called Roscoe's House of Chicken 'N Waffles. He was 30 years old. A panic ensued among employees as the "Selfish" rapper lay on the floor fighting for his life, according to TMZ. PnB Rock Posted Himself Wearing Diamond Chains; Did It Make Him A Target? Before the shooting, the "Fleek" rapper posted a video of himself in the car with Stephanie wearing several diamond and silver chains. Capt. Kelly Muniz of the Los Angeles Police Department told the LA Times that the suspect posed a gun threat and requested items from the victim. Unfortunately,  according to law enforcement sources, the rapper’s jewelry was targeted. “He shot the victim and ran out the side door to a getaway car and then fled the parking lot,” Muniz reportedly said. In addition, a graphic video circulating the internet shows a group of spectators and an employee encircling the rapper lying in a pool of blood. He was twitching and desperately struggling for his life. Rock seemed to have sustained severe injuries based on his lost blood. Sadly, the 30-year-old victim was rushed to a nearby hospital around 1:59 p.m., where he was pronounced dead. According to Muniz's remarks, the South Bureau of Homicide and many other detectives will investigate the incident. Rock's Girlfriend Allegedly Exposed Their Location It's been revealed in the latest issue of People that shortly before the shooting, Rock's girlfriend uploaded a video of her meal. In addition, she allegedly tagged it with their location in a since-deleted Instagram Story. Law enforcement sources received a call at 1:23 p.m. reporting a shooting victim at the Inglewood location. According to KTLA and a source connected to the restaurant, PnB was the only target of the attack. However, the suspect has not been identified. Per People, police sources told The Los Angeles Times that they are examining surveillance footage from the restaurant and nearby businesses to identify the suspect. Moreover, a spike in armed robberies on streets and homes across Los Angeles during which thieves target victims for their luxury watches, jewelry, and handbags has prompted his death. Twitter Users Blame His Girlfriend Twitter users have expressed concern about PnB's condition in the hospital before his death and are upset about this news. Eva LaRue: A Healing History Through Grief and Loss.
For many families, coping with grief and depression has become commonplace in the wake of Covid19. The coronavirus has brought sorrow to so many who have lost loved ones, including that of actress Eva LaRue. The Daytime Emmy award-winning soap opera beauty told PHM how 2020 was a struggle and a journey of mental health.
LaRue's everlasting smile can radiate through the screen on shows like "All My Children and "CSI: Miami,” but several life-changing events would test her perseverance and positivity. Losing her father in 2019, LaRue recalled, was a traumatic event for her. The year 2020 would add to her sorrows when ex-husband, John Callahan, 66, suddenly passed away of a stroke leaving their teenage daughter Kaya without a father. LaRue and Callahan were both stars of the daytime soap opera, "All My Children." Callahan starred as Edmond Grey, who he played opposite LaRue's character, Dr. Maria Santos. Their on-screen marriage would become the real thing in 1996. Although Callahan and LaRue have been divorced since 2005, she remembered the time they spent together and their love as a family.
"He [Callahan) was this huge life force, and I still don't know how he's gone sometimes," LaRue said. "John and I were divorced for 17 years, but he was still a great friend. He was also this alive, fun, amazing person." LaRue's top priority, she said, is making sure that there is "full communication in the grieving process" between her and her daughter, Kaya. “I think as a child you look at your parents as these indomitable strengths and pillars in your life, and you can't imagine them being gone. The worst part of it all,” she added, "is not being able to take the pain away from my daughter."
COVID-19 wouldn't help their circumstances, and the virus was another add-on to the already heartbroken LaRue family. During an enjoyable Christmas gathering, LaRue, Kaya, and her 82-year-old mother, Marcie would all contract the Coronavirus. Recalling her symptoms, LaRue said, "It was a feeling like no other,” she said, “as if you're almost running through peanut butter, and it whipped me out. On day five, I felt the virus heading into my respiratory system,” she continued, and that's when LaRue called her doctor and was prescribed the FDA approved medication, Ivermectin.
TRIP
The medication worked, she said, and within a few days, all three women felt well. "My mother has COPD and is pre-diabetic. I thought I was going to lose her," LaRue sadly recalled. “Within three days I was perfectly fine and the same for my mother.”
Coping with the solace and grief of 2020, LaRue says she had to give in to her pain in order to find happiness and press forward. "We are programmed to feel happy all the time, and it's okay not to be okay,” she said. To relieve some of that pain LaRue says she meditates to keep herself grounded and focused. Believing meditation and prayer go hand in hand she said, "Prayer is asking and meditation is listening for the answer. It helps me focus on the bigger picture so that I'm not stressed about the small things,” she said. “It helps me understand that whatever heartbreak or stress I feel is happening for me, and not to me."
When LaRue's daughter, Kaya left for college soon after, she said she found herself suffering from empty nest syndrome. “I felt like it was the death of a childhood watching my daughter leave," she recalled.
Wanting to give her daughter some space to grow from their shared grief, LaRue said, “We really struggled off and on this year with the depression and
anxiety that COVID initiated and exasperated by all the losses, John dying, and us grieving differently and separately. It would cause a lot of struggle between her and me," she said with tears in her eyes. “When she left for college, I was afraid that she would be so excited to be free and independent that she wouldn't want to call or contact me. So I resisted calling her like crazy, and oddly enough," she said with great joy, "she started calling me like crazy."
An advocate for therapy, LaRue said she has since learned the importance of speaking about loss and allowing the grieving process in order to heal. “Right now everyone is experiencing loss, just sweeping amounts of it," LaRue said. "A lot of the pain comes in the regret of what you didn't do, what you should have said, what you could have said, and you're ambushed by it daily. You have these happy moments and you feel like you're a normal happy person again, happy in life," the actress continued, "and then you're just ambushed by the grief."
Sympathizing with so many who are suffering from PTSD due to the devastating casualities of 2020, LaRue gave this advice, “I don't think happiness is a given. It's a gift,” she said. "The more we think it's a given, the worse off we are. We need to get comfortable with welcoming the sadness in and letting it come and pass through, and having it as a guest for however long it takes for you to start to heal and not cry as often."
Among the sadness of that year, a glimmer of happiness as LaRue won her first Emmy Award for her role on "The Young and The Restless." The actress gave thanks to the many friends who reached out to give their condolences over Callahan's passing. The actress also took on a new role in “Finding love in Quarantine" a mini-series, romantic comedy about a woman who finds love via Vlog. The series can be found at www.pureflix.com.
When LaRue is not on camera, she can be found advocating for women and children who are fleeing gender-based violence in the United States. LaRue is a supporter of the Tahirih Justice Center, an organization leveraging lawyers to help women who have escaped their sex-trafficking captors. Working pro-Bono, these lawyers help victims gain safe asylum within the United States. To learn more visit www.Tahirih.org.

Samar officials condemn killing of Calbayog City mayor
#PHnews: Samar officials condemn killing of Calbayog City mayor
TACLOBAN CITY – Officials in Samar province have condemned the shooting of Calbayog City Mayor Ronald Aquino as they called on for a thorough investigation on the bloody incident.
Samar Governor Reynolds Michael Tan in a statement on Tuesday said he is supportive of the call to end the series of killings happening in the first legislative district of Samar.
“As governor of the province of Samar, I am pleading to President Rodrigo Roa Duterte to call on the Department of Justice to send their most notable investigators and make immediate and necessary crackdowns on the series of horrifying killings that have plagued Calbayog and the rest of the 1st district of Samar for years, leading up to this most unfortunate incident,” Tan stated.
The governor pointed out that even if his family and Aquino belong to rival political parties in Samar, his family appreciated the mayor when he extended his sincere condolences when Governor Milagrosa Tan died last December 2019.
“We are deeply saddened by the horrific tragedy that has befallen Mayor Aquino and his companions. We are one with the people of Calbayog in condemning this atrocity to the highest degree,” Tan added.
In a separate statement, Samar 1st District Rep. Edgar Mary Sarmiento, a political ally of the slain mayor, joined the call for the President’s intervention to bring "real justice" especially that policemen are involved in the shootout.
“As the duly elected Representative of the First District of Samar, upon the demise of Mayor Aquino, I want to assure my constituents that I will do everything possible that justice be served for Mayor Aquino, whose sole intention is to continue the prosperity and the well-being of Calbayog City,” he added.
A revised police report disclosed that while Aquino and his aides were heading north on board a white van, one of his security personnel fired at vehicles, which they allegedly thought were suspiciously tailing them.
The other vehicles carrying Philippine National Police (PNP) personnel from IMEG (integrity monitoring and enforcement group) and DEU (drug enforcement unit), then retaliated, ensuing a firefight.
The incident took place at the city’s Laboyao Bridge in Lonoy village around 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
Dead on the spot were Aquino; S/Sgt. Rodeo Balonzo, S/Sgt. Romeo Laoyon; Dennis Abayon, the mayor’s driver. Wounded were S/Sgt. Neil Cebu; Mansfield Labonite, mayor’s aide; and Clint John Paul Yauder, a local government employee.
Laoyon was in one of the vehicles reportedly tailing the mayor’s car while Balonzo, Cebu, and Labonite were in the same car with Aquino.
Yauder, whose car was just passing by but got caught in the shooting, later died while under treatment at St. Camillus Hospital in Calbayog.
The body of Capt. Joselito Tabada, chief of Samar PNP DEU and acting chief of police of nearby Gandara town, was recovered under the bridge on the same night.
Tabada was onboard a van said to be tailing the mayor's car. His death was not included in the spot report due to the late discovery of his body, police said.
The mayor and his aides were heading to their family-owned resort to attend his son’s birthday party after playing tennis when the incident occurred.
Aquino, 59, who was on his third and last term as the city's chief executive, served as mayor since 2011 after then-mayor Reynaldo Uy was killed in a fiesta celebration in Hinabangan, Samar. The incident remained unsolved.
Meanwhile, Calbayog Bishop Isabelo Abarquez also called on authorities to thoroughly investigate the incident.
"The right of life is a gift from everybody and no one has the right to take it. The wheel of justice is the proper venue for resolution of any case,” Abarquez said in a statement.
Abarquez also condoled with the families of the victims and offered prayers for them.
“We share the grief of the Aquino family, the families of the driver and the bodyguard, offering them our condolences and prayers for the eternal repose of their souls of their loved one and for comfort in their bereavement,” he added. (with reports from Bong Patinio/PNA)

Neighbors react to ‘mass murder’ on Adams Street; 6 dead including an unborn child, juvenile critical UPDATE: IMPD arrested a juvenile suspect Monday in connection with the six shooting deaths in the 3500 block of Adams Street on Sunday. Original Story: INDIANAPOLIS — On Sunday, investigators remained on the scene of the city’s largest ‘mass casualty’ shooting in a decade for more than 10 hours. Once the scene cleared in the 3500 block of Adams Street, family and friends showed up with more questions than answers. Just after 8 p.m., the Marion County Coroner’s Office identified the victims, after next of kin was notified. The victims have been identified as: 42-year-old Kezzie Childs, 42-year-old Raymond Childs, 18-year-old Elijah Childs, 13-year-old Rita Childs, 19-year-old Kiara Hawkins, and Baby Boy Hawkins, the unborn child of Kiara Hawkins. “This morning, I heard four shots fired. I peeped out, didn’t see anything,” said neighbor Rivon Allen- Bailey. But the neighbor in the home directly across from the scene says she didn’t hear anything either. “Well, they knocked on my door at 5, the police. Asked did I hear anything, I said no,” said neighbor Vicki Pinkston. At that point, Pinkston was informed of a shooting at her neighbor’s house but didn’t know else further. “I just immediately got me some clothes on. I’m still the same way, pajamas on and everything,” said Pinkston. She broke down in tears once she learned, just six feet away from her doorstep, a total of six were killed including an unborn child. Still processing the tragedy, she immediately began to realize she never knew their names, only their kind hearts and friendly waves. “They are so sweet. The ‘lil’ boy so sweet. Oh lord, they say ‘Hi, Miss, Vicki’ all the time…Now I gotta look over there and not hear they say ‘Hi Miss Vicki, how’s your day going,’” said Pinkston. District 9 City Councilman William Oliver lives two minutes from where this incident took place. He says this is a loving community and this was a disgraceful act. “If it was one person or five, I’m totally angry, hurt, and embarrassed,” said Oliver. The community has a message to whoever took a total of six lives including one that never saw the light of day. “The act of murder, mass murder. The shame they brought to the household, to our community is an ultimate disgrace,” said Oliver. It’s personal for Pinkston because she knew this family. She along with many others wonder how someone could commit a crime like this. “How you feel? How you feeling? How are you feeling about this? It could’ve been yours; it could’ve been somebody in your family,” said Pinkston. The remaining family members spent the day trying to console one another at the scene. Meanwhile strangers passed by to offer prayers and condolences. “My heart goes out to them and my prayers and best wishes and comfort to the family,” said Oliver. No arrests have been made. Utah star freshman RB Ty Jordan dies at 19
Tumblr media
Utah freshman running back Ty Jordan has died, the school announced Saturday. He was 19.
The Denton (Texas) Police Department told ESPN that its officers responded to a shooting call at 10:38 p.m. ET Friday. Officers discovered a gunshot victim who had been shot one time. After life-saving measures were applied, the victim was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
“Following a preliminary investigation, we do believe that this was an accidental shooting, where the victim accidentally shot himself,” Denton Police Department public information officer Allison Beckwith told ESPN.
Jordan, the Pac-12 Offensive Freshman of the Year after running for 597 yards with six touchdowns on 83 carries in five games for the Utes, was from Mesquite, Texas, and attended West Mesquite High.
Rest In Peace, #22. Forever in our hearts.
We love you, Ty. pic.twitter.com/ZaXjWKg4Nc
— Utah Football (@Utah_Football) December 26, 2020
“On behalf of the entire University of Utah, our love and condolences to Ty Jordan’s family, friends, teammates and coaches. We are devastated by this heartbreaking news. To watch Ty on the field was to be thrilled by his athleticism and talent. Rest In Peace, Ty,” Utah President Ruth V. Watkins said in a tweeted statement Saturday.
Utes coach Kyle Whittingham said the team is devastated.
“Ty’s personality and smile were infectious and he made a huge impact on our program in the short time he was with us,” Whittingham said in a statement. “He leaves an indelible mark on each of us and our thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends. From the bottom of our hearts, all of us in the Utah Football Family want to say we love you Ty and may you rest in peace.”
Jordan was named to the All-Pac-12 second team. He ranked fourth in the Pac-12 in rushing yards and third in rushing yards per game. Jordan was the first Utah freshman to have three consecutive 100-yard rushing games since 1995.
“We share in the shock and sadness felt by our Utah community today upon learning of the passing of one of our family members, Ty Jordan,” Pac-12 commissioner Larry Scott said in a statement. “Our thoughts, prayers and deepest condolences are with his loved ones. The entire Pac-12 and college football family mourns this tremendous loss.”
In November 2019, a photograph of Jordan and an opposing player from Sherman High School went viral. After Sherman High’s 56-27 victory over West Mesquite High, Sherman’s Gage Smith asked Jordan if they could kneel and pray together. Smith had learned that Jordan’s mother, Tiffany, was battling stage 4 lung and bone cancer.
Jordan’s aunt posted photos of the moment to Facebook.
“It made me cry,” Tiffany Jordan told Today.com at the time. “[Smith] didn’t have to do that. The fact that he took the time to pray with Ty for me, that took my breath away.”
Tiffany Jordan died in August, according to a tweet by Ty Jordan. She was 43.
Dear mom, I love you so much, you’ve shown me over the past couple years how much a warrior you are. Watch over me and guide me momma 💔💔 Rest in Paradise A true Soldier! pic.twitter.com/ESoWShaRS9
— Ty Jordan ✌🏾 (@_ylfotyt) August 14, 2020
“We are deeply saddened and shocked to learn of Ty Jordan’s passing early this morning and our thoughts and prayers are with those who loved him dearly, including the young men in our football program,” Utah AD Mark Harlan said in a statement Saturday. “Our priority is on supporting his family and the student-athletes, coaches and staff in our football program who are so deeply hurting right now. Coach Whittingham and I are working closely to provide support and resources for our Utah Football family in this extremely difficult time.”

⚡️continuing the work that’ll never end⚡️comment if ur committed too⚡️let’s not pass this hurt onto our kids ⚡️dm me if u wanna talk about it voice to voice⚡️ -•-•-•-•- Posted @withregram • @blackorganizingproject We, like many around the nation, awoke with heavy hearts to hear about the continued police brutality & murder of unarmered Black men (and women) over this past weekend. We are sending our prayers + standing with the families of Trayford Pellerin who was shot & killed by Louisiana police and Jacob Blake who was gunned down by Wisconsin police but remains in stable condition. Since the killing of George Floyd, we have begun to see progress made as organizers,  organizations, and activists across the globe call for the defunding + dismantling of police and the redefining of what SAFETY means to us and we are taken aback--- yet not surprised to hear about this news in the midst of a time where we  all figuring out how to band together as a collective to figure out how to manage the uncontrollable forces that have created our current reality. It is obvious, day by day - time. by. time. Police DO NOT equal safety in our communities. This is and will always be a CONSTANT FIGHT. So we must be disciplined & diligent in our efforts to fight against this ghastly system of white supremacy/criminal INjustice system, especially in the downtimes when things may feel good and we are easily distracted from this incessant terror. THIS is why we do this work… Again, we send our condolences to the victims and families affected and we will persevere on the path towards Liberation and Justice for us all. #PoliceDoNotEqualSafety #DefundAndDismantle #WeKeepUsSafe (at Oakland, California) https://www.instagram.com/p/CEZ6-kQht7e/?igshid=1sogf1frj103e

BREAKING: Rapper Pop Smoke Reportedly Shot & Killed During Home Invasion, No Suspects At This Time
In horrible news, "Welcome to the Party" rapper Pop Smoke was reportedly shot and killed just hours ago inside a home in the Hollywood Hills. The full story, as well as his friends' heartfelt reactions, inside.
Panamanian & Brooklyn-born rapper Pop Smoke - real name Bashar Barakah Jackson - was killed during a home invasion this morning inside a house on Hercules Drive in the Hollywood Hill, according to TMZ.
Authorities told the site that there was a party or gathering at the house prior to the shooting.  Pop Smoke also posted pics and video from the home on the day of the shooting, and he also - likely accidentally - showed his address while showing off the new clothes he was sent to the house.  Neither the shooter(s), nor the motives, are known at this time.
Local media first reported a shooting at the 3,000 sqft home around 4:30am PST, stating that one man was found suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.  NBC Los Angeles said the victim later died at a hospital. The news also revealed that the 9-1-1 call came from someone on the east coast - a friend of someone inside the house.
Police said the 911 call came from the East Coast from a friend of someone who was inside the residence. Police did not provide more details regarding the call.
Los Angeles police did not immediately confirm the victim's identity.
No arrests were reported early Wednesday. Several people were questioned at the scene in the Mount Olympus area. Up to six people are sought in connection with the slaying, police said.
It was not immediately clear whether anything was taken during the home invasion.
The 20-year-old "Drive The Boat" rapper was renting the home from "Real Housewives of Beverly Hills" star, and John Mellancamp's daughter, Teddi Mellencamp Arroyave, who posted about the fatal invasion:

Early this am we were informed by a 3rd party leasing and management company overseeing a rental home we own in Los Angeles that a shooting had taken place at the property. Foremost, we would like to extend our prayers and condolences to the family and loved ones affected by this tragic loss of life. We aren’t aware of any of the details beyond what we’ve been told or seen reported on the news and at this time we would like to refrain from commenting further as we wish for the focus to remain on the law enforcement officers who are diligently doing their jobs.

Pop Smoke was definitely on the come up. His album Meet The Woo, V.2 hit #7 on the Billboard chart just yesterday, "Welcome To The Party" - with a Nicki Minaj remix assist - was the song of last summer and is on constant rotation on the radio, and he garners over 5 million monthly listeners on Spotify.
He posted his last post on his Instagram feed several hours before the shooting:

I can’t believe Pop Smoke passed away. People are just so cruel. He was only 20 years old. Please count your blessings everyday, and live life to the fullest. You can be here today, and gone tomorrow

Six (6) Seconds At Church of Christ In White Settlement, TX
Six (6) Seconds At Church of Christ In White Settlement, TX
Gunman kills 2 at White Settlement Church Before Member Fatally Shoots Him News Source: Dallas Morning News By Dana Branham, Nataly Keomoungkhoun, Tom Steele and LaVendrick Smith 12:56 PM on Dec 29, 2019 — Updated at 9:09 PM on Dec 29, 2019 Clarification, 4:30 p.m., Dec. 31, 2019: This article has been updated to reflect that while authorities initially said two members of the church congregation fatally shot the gunman, they later confirmed that only one member shot the gunman. A gunman killed two people during a Sunday morning service at a church in White Settlement before a member of the congregation fatally shot him, authorities say. Police in White Settlement, about eight miles west of Fort Worth, were called before 11 a.m. to the West Freeway Church of Christ at 1900 South Las Vegas Trail after one member, who is part of the church’s security team, opened fire on the gunman. MedStar spokeswoman Macara Trusty soon reported that the gunman and one of his victims had died at a hospital. The second victim was resuscitated after going into cardiac arrest on the way to a hospital, but authorities announced at an evening news conference that the person died later. Authorities have not released the names of the gunman and the people he killed, but the daughter of one of the victims told KXAS-TV (NBC 5) that her father, Anton “Tony” Wallace, was killed in the church shooting. Tiffany Wallace told the station she ran to her father after she realized he had been shot. “I was just holding him, telling him I loved him and that he was going to make it,” she told KXAS-TV. Two other people were treated at the scene for minor injuries they suffered when they hit their heads while they were ducking for cover, Trusty said. “We lost two great men today, but it could have been a lot worse, and I am thankful our government has allowed us the opportunity to protect ourselves,” said Britt Farmer, the church’s senior minister. Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick, speaking at the evening news conference, highlighted changes in state law that ensured the right to carry concealed weapons in churches. He credited the church’s volunteer security team for protecting their fellow members. “The heroism today is unparalleled,” Patrick said. “This team responded quickly, and within six seconds the shooting was over.” The FBI said Sunday evening that the gunman had been arrested in different jurisdictions but declined to go into detail about any charges he’d faced. Although the man had roots in the area, it appears he may have been transient. ‘Today evil walked boldly among us’ White Settlement police Chief J.P. Bevering said the Texas Department of Public Safety will lead the investigation into the shooting. Authorities did not release any information about a possible motive. Law enforcement officials said there was no ongoing threat to the public, and they praised the the church’s security team for ending the attack within seconds. Officials initially said that two members of the security team were responsible for taking down the gunman, but on Monday Bevering confirmed that only one person shot the gunman. Jeoff Williams, regional director for the Texas Department of Public Safety, said there was an enormous police response Sunday morning to learn more about what led to the shooting. He said the nation has seen so many shootings “that we’ve actually gotten used to it.” “I would like to point out that we have a couple of heroic parishioners,” Williams said. “Our hearts are going out to them and their families as well.” He said their quick actions had saved the lives of many other churchgoers. “The citizens in this community have a lot to be proud of,” Williams said. Matthew DeSarno, special agent in charge of the FBI’s Dallas office, said the agency was offering its resources to help with the investigation. “We are working very hard to find motive to get to the bottom of what happened,” DeSarno said. “As you see from the group assembled behind me, an incident like this does not get solved and we don’t get to the bottom of it without significant partnership.” Tarrant County Sheriff Bill Waybourn said Sunday was “a horrific day in Tarrant County.” “Today evil walked boldly among us,” he said. “But let me remind you, good people raised up and stopped it before it got worse.” Bevering, the police chief, offered his condolences to the victims as well as the churchgoers who survived the shooting. “We’re all hurting right now, and I just want your prayers for everybody at this time,” he said. Hours after the shooting, as churchgoers left the scene, John Richardson stood next to his wife, Diana, outside a Waffle House near the church. The couple have been married 47 years and have attended West Freeway Church of Christ for more than half of that time, he said. Richardson said that in the years since his wife suffered a brain injury in a car crash, he has learned to keep such tragedies in perspective. “Once you’ve been through something traumatic like that, you already appreciate life that much more,” he said. He said he had no hate for the gunman, whom he called one of God’s creations. “You can’t have hate for these people," Richardson said. "You can’t have hate for anybody.” Livestream Captures Shooting A livestream video that captured the shooting appeared to have been removed from the church’s YouTube page shortly after the attack, but copies are circulating on social media. View It Here: Livestream Video In the video, the gunman, who is wearing what seems to be a dark-colored hood, gets up from a pew in the back of the room and walks up to a man in a suit who is standing in the corner. As the two speak and the man points to his right, the gunman reaches into his jacket and pulls out a shotgun. A man sitting nearby stands up and reaches toward the back of his waistband as several others start to take cover, but most people in the sanctuary appear to be unaware of what is happening. The gunman fires twice while stepping backward down the aisle, striking the man who stood up and then the man he first approached. Another man then pulls out a handgun and fires once, striking the gunman just as he turns toward the front of the room. Six seconds have elapsed since the gunman pulled out his gun. "I KILLED EVIL" - JACK WILSON View It Here: Church Security Guard Interview After the gunman’s first shot, nearly everyone in the room startles, trying to find the source of the noise. As the gunman fires again, most of the worshippers begin ducking behind the pews, and a church leader standing on stage dives onto the floor. Several people in the opposite corner run up the aisle toward an exit, leaving papers and a book scattered in their wake. One woman crawls. An older man, who has turned to watch what’s happening, hardly moves. Screams fill the air as the gunman is shot and falls to the ground. A woman runs shrieking toward the victims as someone tries to help the first man who was shot, who is out of view. The second victim, who tumbled onto what appears to be a bench after he was shot, sits up. Meanwhile, at least five other worshippers pull out handguns and slowly approach the gunman. The man who shot the gunman kicks away the gunman’s firearm and picks it up. The Fort Worth Star-Telegram reported that church elder Mike Tinius said the gunman had drawn the suspicion of church security shortly before the shooting. He said he’d never seen the man and had no idea what his motive for the attack might have been. “By the sequence of events, it should be assumed that he came in with an idea,” he said.   State officials react Gov. Greg Abbott called the shooting an “evil act of violence” in a statement Sunday afternoon. “Places of worship are meant to be sacred, and I am grateful for the church members who acted quickly to take down the shooter and help prevent further loss of life,” Abbott said. “Cecilia and I ask all Texans to join us in praying for the White Settlement community and for all those affected by this horrible tragedy.”

Gov. Greg Abbott ✔@GovAbbott Statement on shooting at West Freeway Church of Christ in White Settlement:

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton’s office asked for prayers for the victims and their families and said the office will assist in any way needed. Erin Nealy Cox, U.S. attorney for the Northern District of Texas, said details about the shooter are under investigation. “No one should be subjected to gunfire in a house of worship,” Nealy Cox said in a tweeted statement. Sunday’s attack came just over 20 years after a gunman walked into a Wednesday evening prayer service at Fort Worth’s Wedgwood Baptist Church and killed four teenagers and three adults before fatally shooting himself. Seven more people were injured in the September 1999 attack. A state law went into effect in September 2017 that allows churches to have armed volunteer security. Licensed handgun owners may legally bring firearms into a place of worship as long as the church allows it, and a law passed earlier this year requires churches to give notice to their congregations if they want to ban guns. Churches, synagogues and mosques previously had been off-limits to gun owners, but lawmakers decided to lift the restriction as a response to the 2017 Sutherland Springs church shooting in which 26 victims were fatally shot and 20 more were wounded. The gunman in that attack killed himself after being shot by two men who chased him until he crashed his vehicle. Correction. 9:55 p.m. A previous version of this story said that a 2017 Texas law allowed churches to have armed security. The law allowed armed volunteer security. Read the full article

Legendary songwriter LaShawn Daniels has died. He was 41.
His wife April Daniels revealed the news on Instagram Wednesday, sharing that LaShawn was “the victim of a fatal car accident in South Carolina.”
“It is with deep and profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, family member and friend Lashawn Daniels,” April wrote.
“A Grammy-award winning producer and songwriter, Daniels was a man of extraordinary faith and a pillar in our family.”
“We would like to express our sincere appreciation for the continuous outpouring of love and sympathy. We ask that you respect the privacy of our entire family during this difficult time.”
LaShawn was most known as the man behind the iconic Destiny’s Child hit “Say My Name.”
He won a Grammy Award for Best R&B Song in 2001 for the track, which was also written by group members Beyoncé Knowles, LeToya Luckett, LaTavia Roberson and Kelly Rowland.

In June, LaShawn opened up about how the track, which he co-wrote with his longtime collaborator Rodney “Darkchild” Jerkins, came about explaining to the Recording Academy that it was inspired by a past relationship.
“I would be places, I would be at work and if would call or hear anyone laughing, or speaking, or doing anything in the background, she’d be like, ‘Who is that?'” LaShawn told the Recording Academy.

“Then she’d be like, ‘Well, say my name then, and tell me that you love me,'” LaShawn added.
The song’s chorus reflects that experience as Destiny’s Child croons “Say my name, say my name/ If no one is around you/ Say baby I love you.”
LaShawn was later nominated again in the same category for Tamar Braxton‘s “Love and War” in 2014.
His other notable songwriting credits include Whitney Houston‘s “It’s Not Right but It’s Okay,” Jennifer Lopez‘s “If You Had My Love,” Spice Girls‘ “Holler,” Lady Gaga‘s “Telephone” and Michael Jackson‘s “You Rock My World.”
Since news of his death broke, several celebrities have expressed their condolences.
“An amazing husband, father, son & a brother to many,” former Destiny’s Child member Luckett, 38, wrote.
“This is a tough one. Thank you for every laugh & every word of encouragement. I can’t even get started on all of your major contributions to music including “Say My Name”. You sat down with 4 young girls & helped to introduce us into the world of writing. Thank you. You definitely left your mark on this world & your legacy will live on forever. Praying for your beautiful family @bigshiz RIH,” she added.
