Jason Todd’s death storyline was perfectly executed because they killed him figuratively (killed his innocence) before actually killing him. It’s a tragedy because he died in two separate ways. And the reason his resurrection is just as much a tragedy is because only one of the things killed can be brought back and it wasn’t the thing that made Jason who he is (his innocence and kindness).

ALSO. also the thing with dick and bruce, right? is that bruce was all dick had. is that tim and cass and damian all had barriers. all had other adults to go to and have parental attachments to, tim even had a dad for most of when he knew bruce. dick couldn’t do what they did, it was him and bruce and alfred who would always be on bruce’s side when it comes down to it, in his inaction if nothing else, and literally nobody else. so of course this eight year old will grow up impacted so much by his unfit guardian, there was nobody else.

I love how every single version of post-death Jason Todd would probably hate each other, ie:

Rebirth and Post-Crisis Jason would hate each other because Rebirth Jason is more Anti-Hero and Post-Crisis Jason is more of a Villian. Most Fanon versions of Jason would hate Post-Crisis Jason bc of his actions towards Mia and Tim and Damian, and they would tolerate Rebirth Jason at best. Every version of Jason hates WFA Jason because they're jealous AF and they also hate CW Titans Jason because that's not Jason Todd at all. (Ok, they wouldn't hate him, they just wouldn't accept him as a Jason)

BUT! No matter what universe, I know Every Single Post-Death Jason would try to save Every Single Pre-Death Jason. It doesn't matter if he walked into the Joker on his own, or Sheila or whoever betrayed him, they would all still try to save a young Jason walking into the hands of the Joker.

a funny (but also very angsty) headcanon that i have for bruce is that he will go to jason's grave (or his memorial case) and talk to it for hours and jason will be like "i'm literally right here!" and is completely offended that bruce would rather communicate with an inanimate object rather than his own son.

I am not a pit rage headcanon girlie in my mind it would’ve worn off like a month after his initial dip. But I do think Jason spends years quietly thinking that the pit may be affecting him when in reality it’s just undiagnosed and unmediated ptsd and bipolar disorder

Fascinated and disturbed by the trend in Preboot era of Bruce repeatedly stating he does not want Dick to be Batman, that Dick is better than that or shouldn’t be burdened by that, while also making it clear he sees Tim as Batman someday and is trying to mold him into that role, despite Tim making it just as clear that he actively wants to never be Batman.

instead of giving jason todd pit madness (which is such a copout because the things he was doing as the red hood was of his own volition as a result of his trauma), people should lean into the body horror aspect of being dipped into the pit a little more.
