random phantom troupe headcanons / thoughts
Tumblr media
including: chrollo, shalnark, feitan, nobunaga, illumi, general phantom troupe
warnings: possible spoilers, nsfw, brief mention of torture, lightly proof-read
chrollo is really into astrology. when you think about his character it makes a lot of sense. chrollo believes in fate and destiny, and how we cannot change it. that’s why he’s so amused by characters like hisoka and gon, because they try to change their destiny. and one of astrology's main themes is destiny and fate. astrology gives people identities, something that chrollo is constantly looking for outside of himself. because he cant accept that he is himself. i would go more into the astrology topic, but i don’t know enough about it to get into great detail without sharing misinformation.
shalnark and feitan aren’t that different from each other. both are scarily sadistic it just manifests in different ways. shalnark is generally very friendly and one of the more outgoing phantom troupe members. he’s a nice dude, but he’s not kind. niceness is like a mask, it’s a common courtesy. kindness comes from the heart. i think the only genuinely kind member is nobunaga, but i’ll get into that later. shalnark is more of a psychological torture guy, while feitan is more into traditional torture.
okay back to nobunaga. i very much think that he is the only truly kind member of the troupe. (this headcanon is not based on how he was as a child by the way) i recently read a nobunaga analysis (here) and it only furthered my belief in this headcanon. simply the way he feels for others is very kind, and how he acted towards gon and uvo specifically. as well as some parts in the manga. he’s definitely very compassionate and understanding, especially compared to the other members. i think some of the other members are capable of kindness, but they wouldn’t be described as “kind”. two other members that come to mind are chrollo and pakunoda. they are both quite compassionate, as seen during their sentimental moments. (chrollo when reacting to members’ deaths and paku’s pre-death gun scene and her small interaction with the cat) but i wouldn’t call them “kind”, but instead more in-tune with their emotions. but, i think deep down inside all people are capable of kindness, so it can be hard to say.
illumi isn’t as clueless about love as the fandom makes him out to be. his only real reference for “love” is his parents, and they actually really love each other. knowing how kikyo is, she’s probably very doting with silva like she is with her children. and silva seems pretty compassionate as seen in his interactions with killua. silva also showed genuine concern for kikyo’s safety when killua threatened to kill her during the election arc. illumi has definitely learned from that, even if he doesn’t fully understand it. he wouldn’t be the best partner, but he’s more affectionate than he comes off. and i also firmly believe that he is not a virgin. i wouldn’t say he gets around like hisoka and chrollo, but he definitely has a few bodies. he’s human too, and he understands that he has human needs.
a good handful of the troupe members get around frequently. i read a headcanon saying some of the members have had sexual and romantic encounters with each other and I AGREE. i think the members who sleep around the most are (in order) hisoka (obviously), uvo, chrollo, and shalnark. maybe phinks but I think he’s so angry and intense because of how pent-up he is. i also think paku and nobunaga are the types to have intense flings with people every now and then… and they can last months. some members i think do not get around are machi, franklin, and feitan. they’re just not very interested and are too busy. i think shizuku is in the middle. i don’t think she’s a virgin and she has partners once in a while but she’s not actively pursuing sex. she just goes with the flow.
the troupe members dynamics are constantly changing. i feel like there’s very clear friend groups inside the troupe. like uvo, nobu, and shalnark are a very clear group in my eyes. as well as phinks and feitan. i feel like chrollo and pakunoda are a part of their little group together. i think the others are more loner types, but the original members still all share a special bond. member-to-member conflict happens a lot in the troupe, you can see this with nobunaga and some of his interactions with franklin and machi. I don’t think anyone dislikes each other (not including hisoka) but tension is common.
anyways... thank you for reading! this is my first post in forever lol (i’m a bit embarrassed….tbh lol)

Screaming into the void isn’t enough, I need to write something. This idea of had been floating around my head for the longest time.
I can not articulate how much I want a post-eclipse au where Griffith can not conceptualize a life without Guts. After having read this chapter, I have been haunted— HAUNTED, and I haven’t even caught up. I’m just thinking about the possibilities. From a writing stand point, I want to straight up just outline a fic where Griffith breaks Guts, not in any cliche or outlandish way but I want something so specifically catered to me.
This whole scene has my on my knees. I can’t no emphasis how much excitement I feel for this concept alone. I need this so badly, I’m on the floor gagging and crying over Griffith’s line.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
From this line alone— ALONE. His beating heart after he sees Guts, when he’s flying in Zodd and he thinks it must be because of the flesh he comes from. I am throwing up, screaming on the top of my lungs.
Do you know now many ideas flashed through my mind when I read this? In actuality none because it’s so brilliant by itself I can’t possibly add anything meaning full than horny gay angst, but l, god, did I try. The best I could come up with was a single line from Griffith talking to Guts, in whatever sort of scenario where Guts would actually listen to him:
Tumblr media
I have outlined something almost coherent, something I so desperately want from these two, which can be easily summed up the example of Naraku and Kikyo.
I want that but also it be deeply tragic more so than canon. Guts and Griffith having a romantic relationship beforehand, Guts leaving not because he wasn’t seen as an equal but because Griffith’s dream is his first love and his ambition being reflected into Charlotte. He’s watching Griffith court his dream with nonsensical poems, mannerisms high society deems chivalrous but seems pointless and stupid to him, he sees Griffith ascending up, sees him as King already and he doesn’t see himself following suit. He only sees himself as an embarrassment acting all noble. He can’t fake emotions like Griffith. A nobles life ain’t for him but that’s just one of reason, the main one being he can’t stand to see Griffith with the princess and he knows when it comes down to it he’ll hold Griffith back and hearing Griffith’s monologue about a true friend just makes his decision to leave all the more easy.
Tumblr media
I need their pre eclipse budding romance to make things messy post eclipse.
Guts still falls in love with Casca things proceed as usual but now it’s layered with the betrayal of a lover more so on Griffith’s end than on Guts. Griffith can’t stop thinking about the moments they shared…
In short, I want Griffith to forcefully turn Guts into an Apostle.

Hey Cynthia! This is kind of an ask but mainly a rant because I find this INCREDIBLY annoying, because it's clear these people don't understand the story AT ALL.
I don't think all KogKag shippers are annoying, but I'm surprised that there are so many fans who say that Kagome should've ended up with Koga because Inuyasha was aLWaYS going after Kikyo or that Koga would've TrEAtED her better. I feel like people who say this are just self-inserting onto Kagome. Reason number one: KogKag has little to no substance in canon, with her just humoring him every time he flirts with her. Number two: if they were paying attention, they would know WHY and WHEN Inuyasha went after Kikyo and that for him, there was only Kagome.
TLDR; Do you think people who say "Kagome should've chosen Koga because Inuyasha bad" are self-inserting? I know the anime changes are a huge factor, is that why people say this? I like your analyses so I'd like to know what you think.
Tumblr media
Hello! First of all thank you for the love 🥺
(I know I have mutuals & followers who love Koga & Kogkag so warning: this post is very critical of both!)
I’m going to start off by saying “self-inserting” exists in a lot of ships. There’s plenty of people who love Inuyasha and self-insert into Kagome with inukag. That’s not something I have a big issue with, we all have our favorite characters and there’s nothing wrong with self-indulgence. But if we analyze the canon story, I think you definitely need make Kagome OOC in order to ship her Koga. I mean, if canon!Kagome had any interest in him she wouldn't have wasted her time with Inuyasha, lol. I've said this before but the main reason why Kagome loves Inuyasha and not men like Koga and Sesshomaru is because Inuyasha has a good heart. He might have a harsh personality (that he is improving) due to his past trauma but he has never killed & eaten innocent people the way the other two did.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Also, the racism. Kagome's defining personality trait is that she is open and welcoming with everyone. Why would she date Koga who calls people slurs unprovoked? Why would she date Sesshomaru who bullied his half-brother for being mixed? Sure these two somewhat improved their behavior over the course of the series but 1- There's no indication that Koga and his wolves changed their diet. Koga never showed any remorse for his actions and never said he wouldn't do it again. 2- Sesshomaru tolerates/respects a few people by the end of the series but he very much still sees human life as expendable (see his “Who cares?” line when he hears his action could kill everyone in Kaede’s village). That is simply not compatible with Kagome Higurashi.
The second anon brought up some good points about the misogyny in the fandom, and how male characters like Koga are praised while Kikyo is villainized for less. I constantly see Koga fans criticizing Inuyasha for “being nice to Kikyo despite what she’s done to Kagome” yet these people seemingly have no problems with Kagome being nice to Koga despite what he has done to Inuyasha. I think both Koga and Kikyo have poorly written “redemption arcs”, I think the inukag fandom just talk more about Kikyo/Inukik because Inuyasha did have feelings for Kikyo while Kagome never had any for Koga, so usually it isn’t worth talking about.
As for Koga being "nicer" to her, I think a lot of it is definitely anime-only. There's that one filler episode where Inuyasha insults Kagome and Koga brings her flowers later (if I remember correctly) which is obviously meant to make Koga look like the better choice. I’ve talked about this a LOT on my blog but Sunrise went out of their way to make sure Inuyasha would almost never be kind and honest with Kagome compared to the manga, and they added a bunch of scenes where he insults her. Honestly with all the things that Sunrise changed I don’t blame anime-only fans for having issues with anime!inukag. Kagome has self-esteem issues because of Inuyasha’s ex (who is her pre-incarnation) and on top of that the boy she loves insults her himself? I know a lot of inukag shippers just see it as a joke, but since Kagome’s self-worth is a real issue in the series I don’t find it particularly funny. But if we’re focusing on the manga, Inuyasha is not mean to her, he’s only rude when he’s angry (calls her ‘bakaa’ or uses ‘temee’).
Also, what does Koga even do for Kagome beyond giving her superficial compliments? He saved her a few times, which is what Inuyasha does on a daily basis. Koga said Kagome is “pretty” and “has guts”, which in my opinion pales in comparison to what Inuyasha said about Kagome:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Inuyasha genuinely KNOWS Kagome. She’s his friend. He spends all his time with her. He has seen the best and worst of her. Koga is just a guy who tries to woo her when he bumps into her once in a while. Inuyasha doesn’t compliment her all the time to score points, he says these things when he can tell Kagome is feeling down and truly needs to hear it.
Koga really is just putting on a front to look good in front of Kagome. The things he says to her are not necessarily true, as Ginta and Hakkaku point out.
Tumblr media
If he did manage to win over Kagome, who’s to say he would keep up this act? Would they work out in a long-term relationship? What does Koga and Kagome have in common? Like I said, he barely knows Kagome. Unlike Inuyasha, who share Kagome’s values, and share a group of friends with her. Inuyasha knows Kagome’s world, her modern friends and her family (and they love him!). Inuyasha has a demon slaying business with Miroku and lives in a human village where Kagome can thrive as a miko. Koga rarely shows respect for what Kagome wants (he claimed her as his mate and spent the entire series touching her & calling her his “mutual lover” without her consent). Even when Kagome was crying in Inuyasha’s arms after he almost died, Koga still said he “refused to give up on her”. Like the second anon said, the guy really just can’t take a hint (until the very end), and as someone who dealt with men like this in real life I think it’s a pretty big red flag.
Inuyasha literally said he owes everything he has in his life to Kagome. That he was born for her. He continuously chose to live with her instead of dying with Kikyo, risked his life to protect her by giving her the fire rat robe, ditched Tessaiga to save her, jumped into the well every 3 days ready to abandon his world for her. The fact that some people think he’s not the biggest Kagome simp out there and think he’s not “worthy” of Kagome is insane to me.
Inuyasha learned to give Kagome space when she needs to be alone so she can study. He respects her desire to finish school, respects the fact that she loves her world and didn’t pressure her to choose him over it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Also people argue that Koga’s redeeming quality is that he cares about his pack and getting revenge for the ones that Naraku killed. Well, funny how he completely gave up on that once he lost his shikon jewel shards uh? Koga is a FULL yokai and he abandoned his vow to avenge his friends as soon as he lost his power boost, meanwhile my boy Inuyasha stays true to his promise to protect Kagome even in his WEAKEST form!
Tumblr media
Rip to Koga but Inuyasha is simply built different 🤷‍♀️
Anyway, the last point is Inuyasha and his feelings for Kikyo. At this point I’m convinced some people watched/read a completely different series than I did. I mean, the other day I saw a Tik Tok that was like “When Inuyasha runs off to kiss Kikyo for the 100th time” like... what? Inuyasha initiated like 3 romantic interactions with Kikyo in the entire time he has known her. One hug when she was first revived to calm her down, one hug when he told her she could call him when she’s in danger, and the final kiss goodbye to put her soul at peace. Inuyasha is NOT a “two-timer” who “keeps going back to his ex”. He’s a 15 years old boy whose first love got brutally murdered, he started to move on and fall in love with someone else then his “ex” was revived as a vengeful revenant and guilt tripped him into thinking he should die with her. He cares for her and refused to let her get killed by her murderer again, but his real desire was to LIVE and move on and be with KAGOME. At this point anyone who doesn’t understand that probably doesn’t have the emotional maturity to understand the story. I’m not saying that Inuyasha handled the situation perfectly, because of course not, the situation is insane and the boy has no social skills from being ostracized his whole life, but the way some people think he’s a bad person for loving more than one person in his life is insane to me. And you know what sucks? Inuyasha can’t win. If he didn’t care about what happens to Kikyo because he has a new girlfriend, people would call him heartless and would criticize him for treating women like objects that can easily be replaced. And that is one of the main reasons why comparing Inuyasha to other men like Koga, Sesshomaru or even Hojo annoys me a lot: Inuyasha did NOT choose to be in the situation he’s in. He did not intend to be with both at the same time (the anime line “why can’t have a both” is NOT canon).
I think one other issue is people projecting their personal romantic fantasies on the situation. So many people dream of being someone’s “one and only”, of having their partner tell them that they’ve “never felt like this before”, and the fact that Kagome is not the only women Inuyasha ever loved somehow makes his feelings for her less “pure” or less “intense” to them. Which never made any sense to me because 1- Why would you be less “pure” for loving many people in your life? The fact that Inuyasha fell in love & stayed with Kagome despite the fact that his “ex” was revived and wanted him should actually be proof of how much he loves Kagome 2- Kagome IS Inuyasha’s “first” in SO many ways! The first person to make him happy, the first to cry for him and to make him cry, the first to give him a home, the first person he will be intimate with, the first (and only) person he MARRIES. His past feelings for Kikyo does not take away from that. I think the worst is when people argue that Inuyasha “still thinks about Kikyo after her death” like yeah, he’s still fighting Kikyo’s murderer until the last chapter/episode and his guilt got progressively worse as he repeatedly failed to protect Kikyo, remembering her does not mean he’s still in love with her. He can’t exactly wipe out his memories. Some people even argue that he ”shows sign that he loves her” in the bonus epilogue chapter?? Never mind the fact that the epilogue chapter just kind of sucks, Inuyasha didn’t have any reaction when Kikyo was mentioned, he said he didn’t care and he was only worried that Kikyo being mentioned would hurt Kagome’s feelings.
Tumblr media
When both Kagome and Kikyo were gone from his life, who did he miss? Did he go to Kikyo’s grave every 3 days wishing she hadn’t died? Did Inuyasha ever think about using the shikon jewel or Tenseiga to bring her back properly so he could be with her? No he never did, because Kagome is the one he was born for and the one he wanted to spend his life with, not Kikyo.
Tl;dr: From what I’ve seen the popularity of kogkag seems to be from people who just like Koga better than Inuyasha and are willing to ignore (or they don’t remember) all the atrocities he committed because they find him hotter and more “charming”, which is fine to me until people actually claim that Kagome should have been with Koga in canon. People who say that are usually just mad about the love triangle because 1- they only watched the anime and haven’t read the manga (and they also misremember the anime) 2- they idealize this idea of being someone’s “first and only love” and they think Inuyasha’s feelings for Kikyo “tarnish” that and 3- they usually lack the emotional maturity to understand the situation Inuyasha was forced in and don’t realize that Inuyasha did the best he could. Inuyasha is a hanyo who was alone all his life and is just starting to open up and trust others while Koga is a full yokai who never had to struggle in his life, and despite that Inuyasha consistently proved that he is a better person. Just because Koga is loud and straight forward with his advances doesn’t make him more loving than Inuyasha, who actually knows Kagome and is romantic and kind to her when it matters the most.

Hisoka/Illumi engagement headcanon (crack)
So, I know that as a fandom we tend to typically view the engagement between Hisoka and Illumi as having the following dynamic:
Illumi sees it is just a “business deal” where they’ll help each other with mutual enemies but ultimately one will kill the other.
Hisoka treats it as a very real marriage/relationship and takes every opportunity to brag about his husband/flirt with Illumi and generally make things complicated and awkward for Illumi with his family.
BUT
Hear me out
Imagine the reverse
One day Hisoka tells Illumi he’d like to propose an idea. The idea is that they should make some kind of formal contract so it’s clear that they are not really friends and that one will eventually kill the other. In Hisoka’s mind this is a convenient business deal and all pretty clear.
HOWEVER. Illumi in all his social inexperience/emotional constipation hears the word “propose” and assumes Hisoka is LITERALLY proposing to him. The part about killing each other is just a small detail that he’d always assumed would happen either way... He assumes Hisoka’s insistence on formalising that specific part means making it a pre-nup term so neither can go to jail for the murder of their spouse.
It takes Illumi a while to decide. He’s never thought of Hisoka as anything other than a convenient ally/worthy adversary. But then, it’s not like he’s ever been attracted to anyone else either... Sure, it means he probably would never have biological children. That would surely disappoint his family in terms of carrying on the family lineage.
But otherwise? Hisoka IS strong and morally grey/corrupt enough to be worthy of becoming a Zoldyck through marriage; a privilege not many can claim. Plus, it’s not like Hisoka ISN’T attractive in his own way.... Lastly, when Illumi kills him, as his spouse and only known family/next of kin, he’d inherit everything Hisoka has/owns (Illumi has no need for Hisoka’s money/possessions, but he’ll still take them - he doesn’t kill for free after all).
Illumi. Says. Yes.
Some time passes. Hisoka has no idea the car crash he’s orchestrated until Illumi starts asking questions. Questions like, when should they announce their engagement? Are they doing engagement rings? When/where does he want to get married.... At first, Hisoka thinks Illumi is joking. Making a play on words because Hisoka had used some phrase about a proposal. So he goes along with it, thinking the sarcasm is clear. Obviously Hisoka is the kind of person who would NEVER make that kind of commitment to anyone other than himself.
For a shamefully long time he is convinced “the engagement” is all a big, long-running joke just between him and Illumi. That is until he is formally invited for dinner with the Zoldycks at their mansion by Silva and Kikyo. The invite is for Illumi and his fiancee to celebrate their engagement and to vet Illumi’s potential spouse as per Zoldyck tradition.
Too late, Hisoka realises this was never a joke. And what’s worse. Illumi seems EXCITED by all this.... He’s NEVER seen Illumi excited. Not like this anyway.
It’s debatable whether Hisoka has much of a heart (don’t come after me for saying that! Hisoka is still my fave and I love him regardless. I just know that all my faves are problematic, hot messes) but he doesn’t have the heart to come clean about the miscommunication and to burst that happy little bubble Illumi is in.
So, with no other alternatives, it looks like Hisoka is engaged to Illumi.
For real.
Thankfully for Hisoka, Illumi is hot, intelligent (most of the time) and a strong enough killer/fighter to keep Hisoka entertained. For now, at least.

What really hurts me as a SessKagu shipper is that how sinners like to belittle Kagura.
Yes, RT said that Kikyo was Sesshomaru's type.
Yes, SesshKag is the second biggest fanon ship after InuKag.
Yes, SessKagu has the lowest number of shippers compare to other ships.
But, it's HER that RT decides Sesshomaru to have a feeling akin to romantic. Sinners, and some people, totally forgot about that and keep trashing about Kagura as if she's the worst character in Inuyasha.
Inuyasha is currently trending on Twitter and sadly Pedomaru is all over it.
If I'm not mistaken, RT said Sesshomaru's type would be "someone elegant and clever/wise like Kikyo". I never took it as a statement in support of SessKik specifically (not with Kikyo being the pre-incarnation of Kagome and in love with Inuyasha) , just as RT pointing out that it would take an outstanding woman such as her to capture his attention.
It's true, SessKagu has less supporters than SessKag (mostly due to the anime slaughtering their dynamic and removing key scenes and moments), but like you said, it's Kagura that RT chose. Kagura who is both elegant and clever, thus fulfilling RT's initial prediction of Sesshomaru's type! And here's the best part - RT herself said that Kagura and Sesshomaru's storylines came together spontaneously. She didn't plan on it, they became "entangled" as she wrote. Which means she, the author, happened to notice that they fit remarkably well together, even though she had not been writing them with that specific purpose in mind! I love that for us. And I love seeing the lolicons trash Kagura - firstly, because she's an amazing character that they will never succeed in tearing down. "Sesshomaru never cared for her!" Anyone with eyes can see that he did. "Kagura never touched his heart!" Bring out the manga panels of Totosai stating that something NEW was born in Sesshomaru's heart that hadn't been there previously. ROTFL
Secondly, because their seething rage and hatred for Kagura specifically is unquestionably proof that, deep down, they know where Sesshomaru's canon interest lay ✨✨♥️

Kikyo as a foil to Azul
I was inspired by @abyssthing198 and@anxious-twisted-vampire to make this. I also had it in my head for a while
Kikyo and Azul are somewhat alike even if they don't realize it
1.Both are intelligent people who suck at sports
Kikyo due to the fact she loves learning and reading but isn't the best at P.E. Azul;due to wanting to be successful but doing well on the physical side of things
2. Both are powerful magic users with water associations
Kikyo as a water witch, Azul as a mermaid with a unique magic that is powerful
3. And the most important thing; both were bullied due to something they couldn't control and met someone who helped shape them currently.
Kikyo was bullied for most of her life. Pre Heartland due to her "rain curse". Post H!City due to her being a witch. She was even bullied to the point of being near suicidal.
In contrast,Azul bullied due to being an Octopus Mer in a mostly scale mer place. He was also bullied for being chubby and a slow swimmer which kinda made it worse.
The difference is how they reacted to it. Kikyo kept trying and failing to make friends before stopping while Azul chose the revenge route, wanting to get back at those who wronged him
Kikyo also met Yuma, who helped her by being her first friend and helped her be more confident. Azul on the other met the tweels who pushed along a darker path.
Kikyo also never wanted to do anything her bullies while Azul wanted and did make them pay.
Kikyo is pretty scared of turning out like Azul. Someone who's so willing to take out her pain on others. To be the evil witch people would see her as. Becoming the person her father told her to never be. Someone who hurts rather than helps.
What do you think?

Inuyasha Rant/Rambling
Tumblr media
I think it would have been cool to see Izayoi outside of being sad, dead or a damsel in distress. She could have been given much better substance.
I would have loved to see what her and Inuyasha's lives were like pre-death. Wiki says she died of natural causes. It can't possibly be old age because discounting the 3rd movie, Inuyasha ages like any human would. (If anyone says otherwise, that would make him way older than not only Kagome, but Kikyou too.) He was 9 - 10 years old when she died. Then this would mean sickness? Would have been nice to see Inuyasha's last days with her or how her family treats her... Ya know...to make me care more...
Some alternative deaths I have in the back of my mind,
a) getting killed by a rival demon of Toga's to show that yes, she was always in danger by mere association, let alone having the child of a Demon General/King. At that point, getting murdered by a demon might as well be a natural cause of death at the feudal era.
b) The house/estate got stormed by a hate mob because she's "impure" or a major target by other demons. She was either disowned or her family legit just fell into ruins. Either way, nobody would protect her. Wouldn't it be so tragic if it was humans who killed Inuyasha's mom instead of just demons? There's so many ways to make all this (TogaxIzayoi story, InuKik,Inuyasha learning to trust humans again) so much more heartwrenching. Inuyasha rarely mentions her in both the manga and the anime. At least in the anime, he mentioned her to Kikyou once which was nice but that's about it. In the manga, she didn't even have a name or a face.
Tumblr media
I think it would have been cool to see Kikyou outside of being sad, undead or a damsel in distress.
No, but seriously, there could have been better ways to write Kikyou's character than what we have been given. For all the shit I say about the characters I hate (like Kikyou and Hawks), at the end of the day, I appreciate the concept/attempt. They're like stylized bottles with little canon substance in them.
Kikyou, self-insert or not, she's integral to the plot- to Inuyasha's life. Now how would I rather the story have gone when it comes to Kikyou?
A) They should have written her relationship with Inuyasha way better.
or
B) She should have remained a major antagonist.
or
C) Let the characters (who always call one another out on their bullshits mind you) call her out on her shitty actions during her redemption.
or
Better yet, A + B (since her being an antagonist, getting called out should be a given) or we keep the plot as is but with a bonus C!
With Option A, it should fix the major issues I have with InuKik: a)Their dynamic and how it's inherently in Kikyou's favor. b)Their mutual distrust of each other. c)The lack of intimacy outside of being romantic/sexual partners.
a)Their dynamic and how it's inherently in Kikyou's favor.
Socially: Inuyasha was an outcast from having no family (they're either dead or hate him), being homeless, and worst of all, being a half-demon. In contrast, we have Kikyo, who is a priestess of high status, she is loved, she is legendary, she is powerful (if she killed him upon their first meeting, no one would care).
Mentally: Kikyo in canon, is not only regarded as older, she is meant to be wiser. She was educated, trained, and was (supposed to be) smart. Inuyasha by contrast was very likely homeschooled, sheltered and never had any of the social interactions Kikyo would have had. Inuyasha is said to be physically 15, if said to be 200 years old. Okay. Based on what I said about his actual aging in canon, he is 15 years old. Kikyo should have known this, yes? She met this young social outcast who was hated by both man and demon and thought "Yeah, ask him to be human. That solves both our problems and we can be happy!" But would it have worked?
But before all that, why would Kikyou specifically want the jewel gone?
"She wants to be a normal woman." Okay, but what even is normal in a world full of demons, witches, and other supernatural entities? "She doesn't want to be the guardian of a jewel that grants immeasurable power, that puts her life at stake more than usual." Fair enough, but I raise you this, her life was already at stake all the time anyway simply by being a powerful priestess (Midoriko for example). Inuyasha was even helping her guard the jewel which was barely kept safe.... at a shrine in the middle of the village... why was it just placed on an altar. I don't know. I won't touch it.
Now, Kikyo has been robbed of a regular childhood just by being born a priestess. I'll giver her that. She's way too young, even by their standards, to be burdened by a life-threatening job. Which begs the question, why does Inuyasha have to bear the consequences of that? He was already helping her, protecting her and her village. She proposed the idea of him being human, leaving himself vulnerable, leaving something he was born with, just to conform with society- and what changes with her? She already admitted she's just going to live as a priestess without the threat of the jewel. That's something so heavy to leave on him -
(I had to check what she actually said and it was just "I will be an ordinary woman." See earlier point. Wishing him to be human doesn't suddenly rid her of her powers, she'd still be a priestess regardless lest they elope which was never stated or implied. I mean, she could have dropped her position as priestess ? But it was never stated or implied what she meant. Honestly that proposal between her and Inuyasha didn't feel like a proper conversation between lovers who planned to eventually marry.)
Which now leads to my next point, it wouldn't have worked.
(Disregarding the possible implications of the jewel being destroyed had they just burned the jewel inside Midoriko's mummified corpse, or if not, just sealed the entire cave with Kikyo's powers that came next to Midoriko's.)
The jewel, at least in the anime, was finally gone due to "the right wish" - Kagome's selfless wish. The Shikon Jewel got tainted by any sort of impure, selfish desire, yes? The mere inkling of jealousy, hate, and envy was enough to taint the jewel. While I think Kikyou just wanted that jewel gone and never to see Inuyasha again. I'll entertain the idea for the sake of my argument. Kikyou's supposed wishes on the jewel were (in the first case, was going to wish)
1) "For Inuyasha to be human." - The main motivations for this wish aren't inherently awful but it's still questionable at best. Inuyasha clearly hesitated and she insisted that this wish will lead to them living normal lives. Inuyasha clearly dislikes being human - being weak, vulnerable, and essentially unreliable during an attack lest he trains to be a soldier afterwards, and even then that's not going to stop demons who just know what he looks/smells like-he'd be dead. To end this point, this clearly benefits her more than it does him. That's clearly still selfish.
(Even if Inuyasha was fully into it, that wish is still by all technicality, self-serving, - a wish tainted by possible feelings of resentment and loneliness, only to be somehow "fixed" by conforming to a world that clearly hates him.)
2) Supposedly, "Kikyo wished to see Inuyasha again" and that somehow manifested into Kagome being born with the jewel. I'll lightly entertain the idea that that wish is what caused the jewel to be recreated and brought back to the feudal era. That wish is still very much self-serving. It is what she wants, after she "killed" or sealed her supposed loved one. You really can't ask for someone back after you did that to them. (This is ignoring the fact that the narrative wasn't even sure what happened back there. She aimed to kill. Then he was sealed because "she didn't want to kill him." Then the story says "she followed him to death." Which. Was. It.
This leads me to my next point, relating to her wish. Kikyo clearly had a basis of what the right wish could have been. She wouldn't have suggested that wish to Inuyasha if she didn't know what constituted as a wrong wish, right? "She wasn't sure actually, cut her some slack!" Then why would she want to test her idea out on Inuyasha, who she supposedly cared about. She knew the jewel was dangerous and likely twisted any wish the user had based on any sign of impurity.
Why use it on Inuyasha?
What, because he was desperate enough to let her.
b) Their mutual distrust of each other.
Inuyasha didn't trust her enough to know that she wouldn't just suddenly fire arrows at him the exact day they promised to seal their fate together. He didn't even bother checking her scent- very important, mind you. It's actually evident post-resurrection that he didn't even put it past her to keep hurting him. With Kagome, he always doubted if she could ever actually hate him. I think it is also note-worthy to point out that after thinking Kikyou betrayed him with those warning arrows, he never bothered to sought her out, hurt her, confront her or anything, just snatch the jewel, sack the place then run.
Kikyou didn't even bother checking the aura of the person who she thought was Inuyasha. This man fought for you, helped protect you and your people, always made the effort to get closer to you, even agreed with your questionable plan, ready to abandon half of his identity to be with you, and you didn't once think "Hey. Something ain't right."
"They were fooled! Naraku was cunning! The disguises looked real!" Naraku can't hide scent and aura! These two "lovers" lived in an era where shapeshifting demons who want them both dead were a thing and they never thought it could happen? This lack of acknowledgement ties into another point I have.
c)The lack of intimacy outside of being romantic/sexual partners.
So they didn't trust each other enough and it was barely given proper acknowledgement and introspection. What did they have going for them outside of the kissing and being social outcasts "together"?
Well, they went out on a boat ride together. Sat nearby each other whenever they were barely talking. Didn't talk about much and it was about loneliness and about the jewel. (minus the one time they had brief mention of Inuyasha's parents and Kikyou even apologized for damaging his robe.) She asked him to bathe with her once. Don't know the rest.
They could have literally talked about anything else of substance. Inuyasha's Mom, Kikyo's parents, Kaede, the villagers, places they've been,Favorite Food, people they've faced, Onigumo, The looming threat of being ambushed by shapeshifters, nasty bandits, their hobbies outside of what they do, their education, the topic of how their marriage would be, what their life would be like, where would they go- literally anything else?
"That's the point! It's tragic and sad and they didn't have enough time! It was cut short because of Naraku-"
Tragic implies inevitability of the awful thing that will happen. e.g. A forbidden relationship being found out, put to the test and despite doing their damndest, one or both of them die.
Kikyou for some fucking reason, never bothered to tell Inuyasha of this Onigumo (who lusts for her mind you). Inuyasha never bothered to be more open about not liking being human. The both of them not even bothering to try giving the other benefit of the doubt.
"That's the point! They're immature! They were desperate and needed each other's company!" That's not love. That's infatuation at best and unhealthy at worst. I wouldn't mind you know, if they (the narrative and characters) just treated it as such. Say so, they were lonely and just needed someone and it happened to be each other. Now why would you want to marry someone you're not emotionally intimate with, let alone you barely trust?
How Can All These Be Fixed:
1) Have Inuyasha and Kikyou have simple scenes of bonding outside of being angsty teenagers. Kikyou was capable of playing with kids, so she's probably somewhat fun. Apply that to Inuyasha then. Yeah, "but that's childish!" Let the young people have fun- eat together, play board games, stargaze, talk gossip, literally anything lighthearted, please. The atmosphere around Inuyasha and Kikyou always felt so heavy. Not even in a somber, melancholic way. More of "Do these people even really enjoy each other's company?"
So there was one scene that wasn't shown enough of and when I read it, I really like it: The origin of the subjugation beads. Kikyou decided not to kill him after finding out he was after the jewel. Made the beads and was about to trick him to wear them as a present but decided not to give them to him when he suddenly gave her his late mother's shell of rouge, which she likely felt touched by. Questionable, even she admitted it. If she gave it, she should have confessed to it and never use it- kept it as a necklace gift. Either way, that, that kind of moment is honestly cute. Plus, the mention of his parents I stated earlier. :)
Should have had them courting each other with presents and late night talks instead of whatever the anime gave us.
2) Have Kikyou try any other way of making Inuyasha welcome in society instead aiming for what honestly should have been a final, desperate attempt.
Inuyasha did not like being human. Simple. Kikyou should have known this, yes? Nope. Because Inuyasha never showed himself to her as a human. Never told her about. He was never around long enough for her to even come close to seeing him human. Because he didn't like being vulnerable around her or anyone for that matter. Come to think of it, their "relationship" properly "developed" because Inuyasha for once felt compassion towards her. Kikyou started the entire meeting thing because she felt confident, arrogant even, that's he's just a half demon she doesn't need to kill. Alright, fine. Standard "They didn't like each other at first because of obvious reasons." Then she felt some sympathy when she found out that Inuyasha's parents were interracial and both deceased. Okay, nice development. Then it ends there. That's the best they could do with them. Basic remorse and sympathy. For all the months that Inuyasha stayed at that village, Kikyou didn't even invite him to stay inside with her and Kaede. The attempt. The mere offer would have been nice. Kikyou should have at least made more of an effort to integrate Inuyasha into the villages (she had influence over them). Inuyasha only seemed to matter to the villagers when he's needed for a fight or when he's feared.
I would understand if Kikyou and Inuyasha wanted to be rid of their respective powers if they actually tried to be normal and the villagers just did not like them being together. But no, Kikyou tried being normal for a day, playing with kids which for some reason, she only started doing when Inuyasha was around because "she felt more human with him" or something. Yeah but why though? What's the difference with Inuyasha around and him gone, in regards to her duties at the village? Fine, say Kikyou did feel softer and kinder when Inuyasha came because it's the first time she had to actually feel sympathy for someone who isn't human. Why hammer in that Kikyou pre-Inuyasha was kind, caring, and loved by all? Wouldn't it have made sense to write her being colder to everyone except Kaede, at the beginning, feared even but she started changing with Inuyasha which could lead to the people being more accepting of half demons?
Fine- if you don't like that option and that Kikyou had always been an open-minded, kind, smart person, why not use that influence to make Inuyasha an equal. A hero. "Oh she didn't trust him enough for that." or "The society will never like Inuyasha even if she said anything."
Currently, Inuyasha's respected in the world by doing what he does best and it was helping people, slaying demons and protecting the weak. Something he was already doing pre-seal anyways. It's baffling that there wasn't even an attempt to take him everywhere as her bodyguard and to spread that positive message to all the villages that not all demons were evil.
Could they have thought she was bewitched? Probably. But it seems Kikyou's word was gospel to the lot of them. The attempt would have been good.
3) Kikyou should have died any other way, caused by Naraku.
The only way this whole ordeal felt "tragic" was because of the curse Tsubaki placed on Kikyou (weird plot-convenient curse she had there). What was her fucking plan really? Just hope that Kikyou was gonna eventually fall in love? What if she didn't? What then? Kill her? Why not do that to begin with? Kikyou knew all this actually and just vowed to never fall in love but later in the anime she managed to deflect a curse and turn it on Tsubaki? Is there no way to counter the initial curse? She's much more powerful! But the reason why this was never properly dealt with was because it would be convenient for the plot for Kikyou to just die because of Inuyasha. And he didn't even know about all this until later on , if I recall correctly.
If we took that whole thing with Tsubaki out, we would have been left with Naraku's scheme. (Which is what I grew up knowing about, I only knew of the curse now. I was just told her power would diminish when she fell in love, which is bullshit because Kagome never had that problem and Kikyo's powers didn't weaken by that much. So apparently ist was a curse. Huh.)
"But Naraku's whole M.O is manipulating and tricking people!" It's one of them sure, but Naraku is also ruthless when it came to his attacks. Should have went with that route instead of them falling for an obvious trap that pretty much proved how shallow their "love" for each other was.
In this new version, since Inuyasha and Kikyou are an actual couple, they wouldn't have been fooled by obvious trickery and Inuyasha would have known about Onigumo- this leaves the options of possession/puppetry, trapping them both in an illusion, and or just straight up killing Kikyou while Inuyasha was lured elsewhere. But if we insist that she had to have been killed while he was transformed as Inuyasha, just to fuck with her, then at least have her know that it wasn't him but someone she isn't sure of (condition being she's not aware Onigumo has a thing for her) , wishing that Inuyasha would avenge her. Inuyasha, upon finding out that he's been lured to somewhere else (something that can happen, like with Mt. Hakurei) or tricked, and Kikyou had been killed, yeah, he's out for vengeance. The way he could be sealed was if Naraku then uses Kikyou as a disguise to attack him then get Tsubaki to do the seal. With the first one, since Inuyasha knows Kikyou is well, dead, it leaves who could possibly be out for the both of them (not immediately thinking it's Onigumo since last he checked, the man was a critically injured human who has no relationship connection to either of them). With the second, Tsubaki gets to fuck with them both because she's always hated Kikyou and wanted to one-up her. There, you have your tragic lovers who deserve to be together and get revenge for what happened to them.
Option A + B
This is the one where Kikyou doesn't get redeemed. Fast forward to Kikyou being resurrected because the hag thought she could do something with that. She's bones, gravel, spite and hatred incarnate. And she should have stayed that way. I adore the idea that had Kikyou been written to be good and then upon being dug up, turned into this awful husk of a person who just resented the living.
You can't have both the likeable, kind, sympathetic Kikyou while she goes around hurting people, stealing souls, scaring kids, helping Naraku, killing someone with her powers-an innocent human at that.
She goes on resenting Kagome, who is an unwilling participant in this love triangle, a 15 y.o who actively helps Kikyou and Inuyasha. (The manga is littered with Kikyou pointing out that Inuyasha was hers to heal and keep. I'm not against the idea of Kikyou coming back as this vindictive spirit but they should have acknowledged that. Not even her sister acknowledged it. Kikyou legit went "Inuyasha's gentler now. When he wasn't with me. She's healing his heart. I should have been the one to do that." and Kaede just went "Kagome is a strange child." Maybe tell her to not be so possessive? Yeah I know she looks a tiny bit like Kikyou but damn, she was willing to murder a child.) She goes around hurting the people she used to care about (Kaede, Inuyasha), hurting the people Inuyasha cares about (Kagome, the gang) and this creates heavy impactful angst! Because if they were an actually happy couple and this happened with Kikyou, then it comes down to Inuyasha's "She's no longer the woman I loved. She's a danger to the people around her and herself. Her soul needs to be put to rest." And then you have her die once, at the end to finally give her closure with Naraku and Inuyasha. I would have cried if that was the case.
and Option C, the one where she gets redemption.
I hate the love triangle because of how convoluted it is. Inuyasha looks like a fickle cheater at times, Kikyou clearly hates Kagome, and Kagome is just in it, trying to be the bigger person for the both of them and not fucking die.
If we kept the entire story as is, the least they could have done was acknowledged how awful Kikyou was to Kagome, Kohaku, Kaede, and a lot more people.
Her bullshit plan using the jewels to give Naraku a new body and then destroying him, along with the jewel was so ridiculous, not even counting the lives ruined in the process.
Would that arc have been solved if the characters just acknowledged that she was being shitty? No. Because that also needs to be coupled with her owning up to her mistakes.
She never owned or admitted to trying to kill Kagome, Inuyasha, and Kohaku. She never took accountability for being such a liability in during battle. She never owned up to the fact that she was absolute trash to her boyfriend, trying to drag him to hell, making him for guilty for even finding happiness with another woman, nevermind not even sure if they were dating, just chalking her up to "her replacement". She always had to be right and pitied on and that was so infuriating.
I think I'm getting a headache. Lets move on.
Now to fix the redemption, with Writing A + a bit of B.
Rewind back to Kikyou being resurrected, she's spiteful and bitter and the resentment is now personal, focused on Inuyasha, Kaede and most of all, Kagome, who she views as her replacement.
Since in this version, Kikyou knew Inuyasha didn't murder her, the hurt now comes from the fact that it seems like he moved on, with her reincarnation, and he hasn't avenged her yet. Of course she would be upset, she has every single right to be. To be a memory. To be stuck in the past. I'm gonna tear up just thinking about it.
Now where does Kagome come in all this. Nothing changes. She already actively helped Kikyou and Inuyasha in canon. She had always been understanding, the only condition being Inuyasha tells her beforehand that they will meet.
Kikyou and Kagome's relationship wasn't always just about their romance with Inuyasha. There were other things to be petty and or insecure of, like their roles as priestess, rivals of Midoriko's legacy, all that.
So here we know that Kikyou lost everything, not just her life, her beloved, she lost her position, her life's hard work, and all that went to a woman from a different time period- clearly she didn't belong here.
So there, we have the angst and drama on both sides. Kagome's insecurities trying to measure up to an amazing priestess and person, and Kikyou's insecurity of being replaced by "another her".
"But that's already canon! Kagome is an extension of Kikyou! She's her reincarnation! Wouldn't that make them the same person!"
No. I hate it when people disregard the message said and told by the narrative that Kikyou and Kagome were never and will never be interchangeable. Kagome is not Kikyou's 2nd Chance to be with Inuyasha. She's Inuyasha's 2nd Chance at Happiness. Kikyou is not Kagome from the Feudal Era. Kagome and Kikyou are two very different people.
You can make Kikyou and Kagome opposites without making the other ridiculously unlikable. (With Kikyou being so unkind and unsympathetic and Kagome being "bratty and spoiled" -according to InuKik shippers.) I don't have to put Kikyou down to prop Kagome up. The writing did that all on its own.
I'm trying to put them on an equal bar while trying to keep them with their individual personality and quirks.
Pre-Death Kikyou can be the calm, collected, intelligent, fearless one. She was mature for her age, probably overworked and never got to experience all the joys of being a teenager. (One might even add some level of paranoia that adds in to Inuyasha's protectiveness towards her and why he's so special to her. )
Kagome is the impulsive, temperamental, resourceful, brave one. She's emotional, sassy, and all around a social buttefly that got all the experience Inuyasha and Kikyou never had.
There. Complete opposites without the other being so unbearable.
Now how would Kikyou and Kagome's relationship go?
Well, only in the anime, I appreciate the attempt to make Kikyou respect Kagome. The episode was called "Kikyou and Kagome Alone in a Cave."
I would have liked this more if this wasn't one episode among multiple episodes with attempts on Kagome's life, Inuyasha's life, Kohaku's... Ugh.
For this version, she can probably try killing Kagome once because she was newly resurrected and "there can only be one of us." Kagome immediately tells Inuyasha this and this obviously angers Inuyasha which Kikyou then accuses him of actually replacing her. This drama causes a rift between the two that has nothing to do with Naraku or them being gullible or selfish because that was absolutely infuriating. Kikyou then keeps looking for ways to send Kagome back to her time (which she did in the first movie, she quoted "You don't belong here. Never return." )
Kagome clearly bottling up resentment at this point, because this undead woman whose name she has to live up to hates her, wants her boyfriend back, and just sent her back to her time. We have that scene of her realizing she loves Inuyasha but wanting to be supportive. The same goes as follows until Kagome finds her again, injured and filled with miasma after her last encounter with Naraku.
Kikyou, still bitter at this point, wandering around, stealing souls to stay "alive", looking for Naraku, just sees this girl and gets defensive. Kagome, having decided to be the bigger person and be sympathetic, offers to help Kikyou. Kikyou obviously taken aback, begrudgingly accepts this.
Kagome leaves the situation with more pity and sympathy for this woman she barely knows, and maybe some perspective. Kikyou isn't immune to mistakes and getting injured. It's okay to not live up to her right away. Kikyou leaves the situation with newfound respect because if it was the other way around, would she have helped? Would she have set aside her resentment to help someone again? If she didn't, what would that make her? Was she always this vindictive beneath the surface? Without the expectations of being the mature older sister/priestess, would she be selfish? Kikyou should have pondered stuff like that in that state.
Because Kikyou is supposed to be smart and self-aware.
Maybe have Kikyou want to get to know Kagome personally-? Maybe earn her trust back?
Now what happens to their relationship with Inuyasha involved? Kikyou now having more respect for her reincarnation, should actually stick around to see her and Inuyasha in action, maybe even try to help out, see what their dynamic is like, maybe kinda see if Kagome's better than her or not. This drama is better than the constant Inuyasha running off to see Kikyou and Kagome being jealous even though Kagome stated outright that them seeing each other was not the issue, it was them going behind her back.
Okay, so I love Kagome and InuKag but this needs to be stated, they were all did dirty. Kagome and Kikyou's potentially complex relationship was boiled down to relationship drama.
How Do We Fix The Love Triangle?
Easy. It ceases to exist. Let Inuyasha, Kikyou, and Kagome have a proper friendship and talk about their situation. The common argument neutral parties have about the love triangle is that "Inuyasha cares about them both equally!" I'd believe you if it didn't feel like InuKag + Kikyou attempting to homewreck an already good relationship.
"The Love Triangle was integral to the plot!"
It was a fucking parasite is what it was.
"But what is the drama of these three if not the romance?"
Insecurities, Duties, Mortality, Regrets, Expectations, Trauma, Loss, and Competition, among other things. The feudal era is a goldmine of drama and angst and you want to settle for this weird trite?
Inuyasha's main conflict in the series was avenging Kikyou and getting a happy ending for himself and Kagome. Great. Cool. But that damn love triangle made it seem like it was a 'who did he love more' then proceeded to show that Kikyou was awful and Kagome really just was the better choice.
Now, with this version, what is the main conflict, if he and Kikyou were indeed happy and Kagome is there, the new girlfriend... well, it is letting go of the past and moving forward.
Kikyou is quite literally dead. Kaede, Inuyasha, her village mourned her 50 years ago. Next thing she knew, she was conscious- made from clay and bones. The world move on without her and that, she never had a say or fault in any of what happened- to her, it was like days ago (since Inuyasha did not age) You can't even fault Inuyasha for this if they were happy. The tragedy lies now in what they never got to and never will finish.
Kikyou's clay body maintains itself from souls of dead women. Wether she takes them or her body's just a magnet for them, up for debate. Either way that is not sustainable and she's taking souls from strangers, not letting their souls to move on and rest.
"But the relationship was supposed to be flawed and exploitable and that's tragic!"
You're asking people to care about two people who barely care about each other beyond the bare minimum.
If the goal was to make them flawed but believable why did they have to crank up the problems to 20?! If Inuyasha and Kikyou were meant to be individuals with serious deep-seated issues, why not bring that up, lets talk about that. Address it. But nah, the story kept flip-flopping between calling it an undying tragic romance and a betrayal that somehow stemed from a lack of trust. Feeling betrayed ≠ Not having any trust in that person.
"It's like enemies to lovers where they don't trust each other completely!"
First off, there's no ideology/authority that makes a human dating a demon illegal. The exception is priests and monks because they're spiritual heads who are tasked to killing demons so yeah it would be highly questionable. For the demons, having intercourse with a human isn't really unheard of because they already see humans as lesser, be it entertainment or ya know, food. They raise eyebrows when the demon in question falls in love and makes an offspring. The point I'm trying to make is that they were never actual enemies and the story never painted them as such. Their description in canon is "tragic lovers". Also, the proper taboo here is it being interracial.
Inuyasha himself has no personal grudge against Kikyou at the start because why would he? He never had the intention of hurting or killing her because Inuyasha never harmed humans out of fun or spite. Kikyou, it's just business. Her job was to protect the jewel. She did so.
End of this segment, just brought it up in case someone tries to justify why two "lovers" didn't trust each other to not get attacked by the other.
Now for my final thoughts, there was a point in time that I was a fan of Kikyou's design, her aura, all that. I even drew her nonstop at that period. Same goes for Hawks actually. But why inflate what actually happened in canon? For all the fun what-ifs, could-bes, this is what we have. This is what is shown and told to us. I'm more of a show and tell person and but if I had to choose, it should be Show. Kikyou's pretty design doesn't really mask the fact that she's underdeveloped and written like scribbles on cardboard.
Miscellaneous things to mention before someone brings it up:
1) Kagome's final wish on the jewel was selfless because of her very personal motivations at the beginning and at the end of the story. Kagome stayed to help collect the shikon shards because she felt personally resposible for it shattering. Kagome didn't have to, really. She didn't know these people, even worse, they were 500 years ago. They'd still be long gone when she returns home to her normal life. But no, she selflessly stayed to help fix the mess she accidentally made trying to fulfill Kikyou's shoes. Now, at the middle of the story, friends and all. What did Kagome specifically have to lose if she walked away from the fight, with Kikyou back to do her job? Her pride? Her job of filling in for Kikyou? Inuyasha? Yeah, true. But those are still things she started without. What did Kagome have at the start of the story that she never would have lost if she walked away- her family, and her life at the modern era. She personally had nothing to lose at the end of the day by wishing for the jewel to disappear. (The wish was anime only. The manga states Kagome will fight in Midoriko's place eventually which yikes...)
"Kagome wished for the jewel so she could stop fighting because the jewel hurt her friends and so many more people!"
Yeah. Other people. Not her, specifically. She chose to fight. She didn't have to. She had no obligation to. "She didn't belong in that era." Kagome had nothing to gain from the jewel's power- no personal vengeance, no lifelong grudge to speak of. The wish benefited everyone else the most. Which is why it was the right wish to make and why Kagome was the right one to make it.
2) InuKik would not be cute or romantically tragic if Inuyasha was a girl and Kikyou was a man- it would be way too obvious it's unhealthy at best and abusive at worse.
See my points about the disparity between social status and maturity. Side tangent: Now the rich person x poor person is a common trope and the implications of abuse of power is usually sidestepped by having the poor person secretly being rich, becoming rich or the rich person losing those riches and power to be with the other. Now Kikyou and Inuyasha don't have a class problem but it's more of a position/status in society issue. Kikyou is a priestess, someone with the authority and "pass", if you will, to exterminate demons people deem dangerous. No one would care if she killed Inuyasha on first sight because who would protect this man's right to live? He had no support system, no family, friends, nothing. That itself isn't the main issue because she spared him for vague reasons. The issue now lies with her attempt to ask him to use the dangerous jewel to make a wish. If something goes array and he hurt her or anyone else, she'd have "good reason" to hurt/kill him in self-defense. Just a thought.
Kikyou has been really nasty towards Inuyasha despite him always being the one to get closer despite getting hurt. She was possessive, making him feel guilty for her death, asking him to die for her, to abandon the happiness he got from Kagome and his friends.
Now all the issues I've mentioned here and paragraphs beforehand and then genderbend that. You'd call him controlling, manipulative, selfish, abusive, yes? Because that's what she was like.
"You're reading too much into it!"
And why shouldn't I? If their relationship was so important, why shouldn't we look at it and scrutinize it?
"You're overreacting. She did reassure him that it was all Naraku's fault! He tricked them!"
- By exploiting an already weak relationship.
"InuKik was supposed to be endgame but the author of the manga was pressured to make it InuKag."
You as the author, have the power to make your story any way you want. If you're gonna upset a bunch of fans for a pairing you've written well for, better back it up with an equally well-written pairing. Leave no room to argue. No one will give you shit if it was done right. If you can somehow make a good way to write Kikyou back in and give Kagome a satisfying ending then yeah, it would be fine. Not happy for everyobe but it would have been serviceable. I'd say, if you're gonna piss the fandom off, at least do it well.
3) I'm not a mysogynist. I'm a girl and I would like to not see someone go "Ew. You're too hard on Kikyou but give Inuyasha a pass. You're just pitting two women against each other!"
I just said how Inuyasha's character was tainted by the love triangle, along with how we can have two powerful likable women and not reduce them to romantic rivals Inuyasha just had to choose from. I appreciate the "what Kagome and Kikyou offered him if he chose them" but I can totally understand how that would come off as unfair to the other party.
4) I have enjoyed fanfics with Kikyou before.
The first one. Can't remember the title but it was a ficlet about Kikyou being a narcissist. She kissed Kagome in that one because she was so entranced about Kagome being pretty. It was so weird because I don't think it was meant to be romantic. Kikyou was supposed to be self-absorbed and unsettling. This was the same woman who thought so highly to herself and told the 15 y.o stranger that she was an extension of her. Damn.
The second. It was what I suggested, maybe have Kikyou actually want to get to know Kagome. In this fic, Kikyou, after having been saved, wanted to befriend Kagome, earn her trust back. Kagome, already nice to her by default agreed to hang out and they even had friendship necklaces! :D It was a cute ending when they finally set aside the thing with Inuyasha and just talked about being girls, school, teen stuff- because Kikyou never had that so Kagome brought her presents from the modern era and I should stop rambling omg.
The third. Kikyou post-resurrection, having been rid of her duties and mortality decided that she should be more chill and carefree. The fic was half serious, half Kikyou just flirting with guys, sleeping with everyone who wasn't taken, ugly, or a minor. The fic was just fun, because it wasn't weighed by the characters not talking about the very suffocating relationship drama. Inuyasha, Kagome and Kikyou talked, remained friends, and she was over all being friendly now that yeah, she doesn't have to be crushed by the weight of responsibilities and it wasn't like she was leaving Kagome to do the work since she decided to stay with them to help out. Also, SessKik. It was just interesting.
5) The easier and more dramatic way Inuyasha could have betrayed Kikyou was to take the jewel when she handed it to him and he secretly wishes to become a full demon and then mauling her (still fulfilling thay violent death curse Tsubaki set on her). Just a thought.
6) KagKik is so fucking odd to me because Kikyou first thought Kagome to be an extension of her and then she flat out hates her. The the story thinks Kagome was Kikyou's second chance to be with Inuyasha. I don't need to tell you why it's a tad bit weird. I swear.
7) A polycule is a weird way to solve this. That takes out the tragic part of Kikyou being dead. To each their own I suppose but this should come with the condition of Kikyou being a well-written partner to begin with and Kagome being somehow okay with a three-way with her boyfriend and his undead ex girlfriend. FFXIV Write Day 12 - Miss the Boat
In which the author takes the prompt literally and figuratively.
Another short and sweet one!
- - -
“Ah- Eris! Wait up!”
The sea salt of the Lominisan pier permeated the air as the redhead turned around to the sound of the voice as the owner jogged his way over to her waiting place. Standing next to her were other small groups of people clumped together, seemingly waiting for the same thing.
“Oh, Zhra’li.” Eris blinked in surprise as she gave a good once over at the man, now panting slightly from the exertion of trying to catch up to her. Instead of his usual black and dark blue attire of choice, his outfit for today was much lighter in tone: light greens and dark grays and wearing sandals, of all things. Not that it was a bad outfit, far from it (it actually looked quite good on him), but it was such a change from the norm that the au ra had to stop and wonder if she had forgotten about something. “Is everything alright?”
It was the miqo’te’s turn to look at her strangely, before giving an awkward cough behind a fist, eyes darting away towards the large ship docked next to the pier. “You’re heading over to Costa del Sol, right?”
A tilt of the head in confusion. “Er, yes, as it happens. I’ve been invited to a party there by Gegeruju, and,” she gestured toward the boat, “Apparently they’re having a pre-party on a boat, of all things. Why people need to pre-party before the actual party I’m not quite sure, but this is what some people do, supposedly.” Eris shrugged. “Rich people confuse me sometimes.”
“Hallelujah to that.” Zhra’li muttered under his breath, before snapping back to attention. “Right! About that party. You can bring people with you right?”
“I could, yes. But Campanula and Aurelia declined my invitation nearly immediately, and Kikyo is still recovering from aether sickness from our one trip to Doma.” Tilting her head, she asked, “Why-”
“Whoo! Looking good girl!” Eris nearly flushed as red as her hair as a few sailors walked by, one of them even wolf whistling as the group passed the two standing on the pier. Before she could say anything, Zhra’li turned and bared his teeth, fangs out on full display. “Keep walking, you-.” The sailors simply laughed and walked on, ribbing at each other. Only after they were gone from view did the miqo’te turn back to the other. “You good?”
“I’m fine, thank you.” The flush had gone back down somewhat. “I apologize. This sort of outfit isn't… my usual style.” It very much wasn’t, the black swimsuit and throw over were a darker tone than her usual tastes, and the amount of skin showing was also suspect. “But Gegeruju provided it for me, so I feel a little obligated to wear it.”
Zhra’li simply gave another cough, looking away again. “Well if it’s any consolation, I think you look fine. So like I was saying-”
“Miss Erissssss!”
Both adventurers startled at the high pitched voice, and Eris barely had time to recover when a small white ball of fluff slammed into her chest, stumbling her back a few fulms. Zhra’li had managed to whip out his daggers in that amount of time, but upon seeing who it was, simply sighed and put them back. “Mogweiss, you’ve got to stop-”
“Mogweiss!” Eris cried out happily, now squishing the creature against her cheek. The moogle (as it happened to be) flapped his little wings happily as he hugged Eris back, pom floundering about in every which direction. “What are you doing here?”
“I just wanted to see you, ma’am! Campanula finally let me go from training!” He gave a full body shudder clutching his pom down towards his head. “He’s scary, ma’am.”
“Is he bullying you again?” Frowning, the au ra squished him back close to her to which the moogle happily leaned into the hug. “I’ll have to go talk to him again.” The moogle simply snuggled further into the crook of her neck, wiggling his little feet as he did so. “Thank you!”
Zhra’li simply gave another long sigh, ignoring the moogle. “Right, Eris. So, about that plus one-”
As he said that, a large horn suddenly blared out from the ship, and a walking plank made its way down to the pier. The others scattered around the pier made their way over, excitedly muttering to themselves, some quite louder than others. “Oh! It looks like it’s starting!” Eris slowly let go of the moogle, who reluctantly let go and flew his way next to Zhra’li. “I’ll see you soon! I don’t want to miss the boat!  Don’t worry, I’ll tell you all about it when I get back!” She rushed over to the pier alongside the last stragglers, talking to the deckhand before he let her through.
The miqo’te could only watch in defeat as he saw the plank rise up and the ship depart. “Right. Have fun.” The moogle gave a pawed pat on his head in consolation.
“Tough luck.” Mused Campanula over the Company linkshell.
“That was pathetic.” Piped in Aurelia.
“I’m going to need you two to shut up now.”

I'd be highly impressed. Been wanting to reread it forever. It's pre 2013. An AU love triangle story. Kagome worked at a cafe and Inuyasha tipped her his number. She ended up calling cuz he was cute but didn't know he was currently dating her sister Kikyo! After a week of dating Kagome, he dumped Kikyo. Kikyo never introduced Kagome to Inuyasha while dating cuz she knew they would have instant chemistry. She was always forcing Kagome to go on blind dates so Kagome would be taken when meets Inu
Well... We would also be impressed if someone else finds it...
Congratulations Nonnie, from this failure is birthed:

Because we're sending up the Bat (Hanyou) Signal, because we are unable to find this fic for you and are hoping maybe someone who follows this blog will know it and be so kind as to link it in the notes.

Custom Toonami Block Week 146 Rundown
Spy X Family: It’s the final episode of the dog arc! Man the dog arc has been a lot longer than I thought it would be given each main character got like one episode intro each and the dog’s had like three at this point. Thankfully Loid doesn’t kill the attack dog and is able to subdue him though he does lock him up and say he’ll come back for him but they never show him doing that. Anyway with the bomb gone and Dog Terrorist Bakugo fleeing the scene only to have his car fucking totaled by a single kick from Yor, the family’s able to reunite each thinking they saved the world today and each being kind of right. Anya expertly blackmails a government agency into getting to keep the dog and we get some nice character stuff for Sylvia, like she’s kind of a background character but this arc in particular has shown her a lot of depth. Once the dog finally gets there they give a heartbreaking montage of what he had to go through to this point to become a Data Dog and honestly yeah it’s a good One Piece style found family backstory told with no internal dialogue so that’s pretty dope. Turns out Anya’s plan of “get dog > befriend Damian> ??? > Profit” isn’t going to be so simple but still they have a dog and Anya’s as dumb as usual but she is really giving it her best to try and train him. They have a little adventure at the dog park and Anya gives him the non-copyright infringing name of Bond which is a bit on the nose for a spy family but I’m on record for loving the pun of their last name being Forger and having the dog that brought them closer together literally named Bond Forger is too good to pass up, it’s a dog that literally forges bonds, how can you not love that.
Inuyasha: So we interrupt the Princess Abi plot we just started last week to dive right into a special two part flashback about how Inuyasha and Kikyo met. I never really knew how to feel about this episode since some of the details feel off and even as a kid I could tell this was filler, so idk if I’d really consider the events of the special canon but it is pretty fun in a Star Wars Prequels kind of way because it’s just kinda watching shit happen and knowing it’s all gonna go horribly wrong by the end. We get some integration of other filler elements like Tsubaki’s tense relationship with Kikyo in that ‘that one coworker whose guts you hate’ kinda way and we get callbacks to Mistress Centipede being the original holder of the Sacred Jewel (though again I vaguely recall them saying it had actually been kept in Sango’s village until Kikyo came around so idk how exactly the details of that line up with canon but it’s more of a fanservice thing). Inuyasha hears about the jewel and he’s in the middle of his ‘doesn’t have a cool giant sword yet so he’s overcompensating for his half demon dick’ arc and because he meets Kikyo on the night he’s human he doesn’t do anything to provoke her and Inuyasha keeps coming after the jewel but a kind of begrudging respect forms between Inuyasha and Kikyo because Kikyo never kills Inuyasha and Inuyasha never resorts to underhanded tactics to try and get the jewel he basically jumps out every day and is like ‘fite me Kikyo’ and because this is pre-episode 1 Inuyasha she kicks his ass every single time. Still Inuyasha chides her about how smelly she is and she ribs him about being a half demon and they kinda roll into each other’s vulnerabilities because Kikyo feels like she’s in between worlds as well as the only teenage girl around that can obliterate an ogre by touching it and Inuyasha’s just kinda turned on by the ogre-obliterating I guess. They agree to exchange gifts and Kikyo actually prepares the Sit beads for him which explains why Kaede had them at the beginning of the series though we get a clue that her word would’ve been ‘Beloved’ which sounds a lot less spammable than Sit but is kind of more cold and cruel because she’s professing love for him and subjugating him at the same time which does kinda fit Kikyo’s character. Still Inuyasha presents her with the rouge that has a LOT more emphasis in Yashahime (even though I think it gets destroyed at the end of this special but don’t pay attention to that) and she gets the backstory about his mom and she’s moved enough to trust him to act without the beads now and doesn’t give them to him. And thus the two form a close relationship and nothing bad happens ever, the end. Also fun fact, was looking on the wiki to double check this was filler and not some side book written for a movie or something and turns out this is the ONLY episode in the entire original series that Kagome’s not in, kind of a neat touch also kinda funny how most anime have long stretches without their main character nowadays and Inuyasha’s just like ‘nope, Kagome in every episode except for the only one taking place entirely before she was born’.
Yu Yu Hakusho: Time for the end of Sensui, or at least I assume so given the episode’s literally titled ‘Sensui’s End’. So long story short Demon Yusuke kicks the absolute SHIT out of Sensui and supercharges the last Spirit Gun bullet to fucking blow him away. Yusuke gains control of himself again but is too late to do anything about it. Given this fight was probably the exact template for Ichigo vs Ulquiorra, Yusuke is pretty pissed about this outcome (not like ‘cut my arm off so we can fight fair’ pissed but still pretty pissed). Turns out Koenma resurrected Game Master as part of Sensui’s fucking Batman gambit to use his guilt to weaken the pacifier battery enough for him to overcome it and that means now he has no more get out of death free cards to give out which is probably fine because I get Yusuke not liking the end given he basically has a human death on his conscience now which is kind of what the whole arc was about but he had limited to no control over his actions at the time, basically the arc was leading to Yusuke getting a ‘I can kill for the greater good’ kill and instead they gave him a ‘got drunk and did some murder’ kill and it kinda sucks. Still like Koenma can probably do some shenanigans with his soul like they did Genkai, like Itsuki’s about to take his soul away so they literally can’t do that but they didn’t know he was gonna do that when they were discussing this. Sensui gives his big speech about how he never had demon friends like Yusuke does so he still had the Saturday morning cartoon morality even before he became a Spirit Detective and never had the main character talk no jutsu abilities to parse out why demons are doing shit (I hate to break it to him but it seems like 90% of demons are just kinda like ‘because it’s fun to kill’ like there are cool demons and all that but I don’t think the likelihood of the ones attacking him as a kid being like that was very high anyway), but point being he feels really shitty about murdering a Titanic-load of demons for shitty rich human assholes and wanted to die in demon world so he could like both get perspective and be some kind of martyr (it just so happens going to demon world also causes the apocalypse but DETAILS). But yeah Itsuki’s basically like ‘My gay ass is taking my self-loathing boyfriend’s corpse to another dimension because we’re not in the mood to put our weird convoluted motives on your morality spectrum’ also Sensui was gonna die in like ten days anyway, kinda random to throw in there, feels like just a random bit of tragedy to throw in for the fuck of it but at least they’re not like ‘oh he was weakened by the disease so Yusuke didn’t even fight him at full power’ no if anything it seems his death sentence hardened his resolve and made him fight harder so he could be put to rest. It’s just really funny how Itsuki’s simping so hard over Sensui he’s like ‘So my man almost caused ONE apocalypse, you guys taught him to murder terrorists so it’s your fault’ like I kind of get Sensui’s motivation by the end being so torn up by shades of gray and kind of half wanting to be proven wrong but Itsuki’s just sitting there so mad about these guys stopping a demon apocalypse and he’s gonna go take Sensui’s body and talk to it in the void forever I guess, also he somehow takes his soul too? Like I know the body and soul are linked recently after death but does Itsuki have the power to just grab the soul and keep it in the body to take to his pocket dimension and keep it away from Koenma? Either way once all that’s done Yusuke’s like ‘okay next arc let’s go kick my demon grandpa’s ass for ruining my fight’ and everyone’s just like ‘can we go have a nap first like we’ve been fighting ten episodes straight and the demon hole’s closing in a few hours we really need a break my guy’ and because Yusuke’s not the single-minded fight junkie that Goku or Ichigo are he agrees to go home with everyone and figure out the whole demon thing later.
Jujutsu Kaisen: Turns out Yuji’s job during the school festival is to be on ‘distract Todo Duty’ because fucking nobody wants to deal with that guy, which is fair, it’s like having Ichigo join your team solely as bait for Kenpachi (lot of Bleach references today) but yeah the two end up having a super manly fisticuffs fight where Yuji kinda gets his ass kicked before he answers Todo’s big ass tall girl question right and Todo has a whole ass slice of life flashback of ‘this is what you mean to me now’ constructing a friendship between him and Yuji in seconds and it’s fucking great. The rest of the Kyoto peeps show off the intros to their movesets and try to kill Yuji but Todo is not having that because if anyone’s gonna fist his new bro to death it’s gonna be him. Meanwhile the rest of Megumi’s group has figured out that literally none of the Kyoto peeps seem interested in the game they’re supposed to be playing and rush to help Yuji and start pairing off into their own little matchups for this arc which looks like it’ll be fun, like a lot of the characters seem cool but we really do need a Chunin Exams style arc where they beat the shit out of each other and cry about their backstories to really solidify this many characters because honestly we don’t have enough info on even the big players yet to really give them emotional cores. Todo stops fighting Yuji and says he wants him to become strong so they can REALLY fight and Yuji’s fresh off his ‘watched his domestic terrorist friend die because Yami Yuji’s a dick and he can’t punch peoples’ souls hard enough’ arc and really needs a win so we’re doin this folks.
Zom 100: So the first two thirds of this episode are like Aggretsuko on steroids, like I don’t want to say this isn’t real because I know this is based on real shit Black Companies do but Akira Tendo’s company makes all the ‘I hate Capitalism’ shows look like Muppet Babies (don’t ask me what that means idk) so I have to believe there’s at least some level of exaggeration in the intensity and/or scope if not the substance of the employee abuse in play here despite it being generally representative of Japanese Corporations just being fucking awful. But yeah if you’ve seen Aggretsuko you know the basic beats of how this goes, Akira has a shitty boss, shitty clients and a bunch of shitty coworkers with shitty practices that drain the life out of any employee protection policies with shitty Japanese work culture. He even has a bland moe big titty crush that only seems to like him because we’ve gotta get pairings going but she’s also banging the boss which that’s uhh… not great on several levels. But yeah, cutting to the chase assuming you’ve seen any ‘I hate Capitalism’ show (there’s been A LOT of them in recent years for some reason, no clue why…) Akira wakes up and finds there’s a zombie apocalypse and it’s kinda funny how he probably Shaun of the Dead’d his way through a lot of this shit before figuring it out. I also enjoy that it’s not necessarily like the nerd fantasy of ‘oh society has broken down so now I can be a king’, no Akira actually takes a pretty healthy approach to things despite his seeming lack of concern about the flesh-eating monsters everywhere and makes his day about emotional closure, he doesn’t revel in the collapse of society or the destruction left in the wake of the apocalypse it’s basically an eternal vacation that just happens to have zombies in it for him and I don’t fully know how long that outlook will last him but it is kinda neat seeing him Carpe the Diem and be so fucking happy about it. He quits his job, kills his boss (as you do), and confesses to his zombie crush with her titty hanging out (again, as you do) like I’ll admit I am a bit thrown by his complete denial of the world going to shit but I am excited for him and how he talks to the zombies like they’re still alive mostly for his own benefit for closure rather than any kind of philosophical reason, like it’s a completely angst-free zombie show and that’s like very strange, even High School of the Dead, as silly as the supersonic titties on that show were, had a good deal of angst despite its protagonists being invincible harem pieces, they still seemed worried about how shit was going down, Akira basically takes the Walking Dead approach of ‘yeah nothing really changed, still could die any moment, fuck it’, it’s like the meme of the nihilist saying ‘Nothing Matters’ while crying and the anti-nihilist saying ‘Nothing Matters’ with a big grin, that’s basically how I can describe Akira’s arc here, extreme anti-nihilism almost to a fault. But yeah, lots of fun, crazy colorful visuals to show how the new zombie world is Akira’s wonderland and I’m interested to see where this goes.
Ranking of Kings: Now that everything’s good topside, Bojji takes on the mission of returning the chimeras that attacked Hilling to the underworld now that they’re not bad doggos anymore. I mean I’m pretty sure they have no idea Ouken’s been apprehended and there’s like four other Underworld fugitives they don’t have a pin on running around the castle but taking the doggos home is important too I guess. It gets kind of complicated since Domas is down there and the last time Bojji saw him he was literally trying to kill him so yeah that’s a bit rough. Meanwhile Domas and Kirito are down at the portal trying to seal it off but they don’t get to it in time I guess and the Underworld guards are there and Domas has to fight off a whole squad of them which he does, complete with ‘big guy that seems strong but goes down like the rest of them’ because that’s always a good way to spice up fighting mooks. However Desha comes through saying he wanted to fight Bosse now that he’s the size of a kid and Domas is just like ‘nah bro’ and it’s really fucking funny because Domas is trying to galaxy brain this fight by analyzing both their weapons and striking distances and Desha just kinda inches closer to him and kicks him in the nuts, like it ain’t that deep bro I guess. Meanwhile Gnasty Gnorc drops down to the Underworld (forgetting the doggos which is the whole reason why they’re here) with Bojji and Kage in hand and Bojji has a full blown Puss in Boots panic attack when he sees Domas again but Domas is just so happy that Bojji is alive he tries to do Sudoku to repent and Kirito’s just like ‘how about we just protect him instead’ and they fight for a bit before Desha takes out Gnasty Gnorc and says he’s just here to kill Miranjo because she’s the bitch that started all this and like he’s not wrong, I mean he plans on taking over the kingdom and 1v1ing their child king and shit but yeah Miranjo does seem to be the problem here though I have no doubt we’ll end up Talk No Jutsuing her though I have no idea how that’ll work given Bojji literally can’t talk but also doesn’t want to kill anyone so we’ll see how that shakes out.
Vinland Saga: Well turns out the thief girl from last episode survived and she’s now told Thorkell’s troops where Askeladd and co. are just as Thorkell’s getting antsy from the winter putting a cork in his murder spree, so now the timetable on them getting their butts in gear has been moved way up and the whole ‘slaughtering a whole village of innocent people to keep them quiet’ deal kinda fell through. Meanwhile, said deal is making the Priest feel kinda shitty about God and Canute’s like ‘fuck you, God is awesome, he’s the biggest Father and fathers are cool to their kids and shit’ right in front of Thorfinn who’s still dealing with his own daddy issues. Also turns out Canute is basically Sanji because he’s like ‘dad I wanna cook’ and his dad’s just like ‘COOK!? YOU FUCKING ASSHOLE YOU’RE SUPPOSED TO FIGHT’ and Thorfinn gets his first meal in like probably a decade that doesn’t taste like overly salted slim jims from his king malewife. Meanwhile Askeladd’s crew is fighting with Thorkell’s scouts and they have to get the fuck out of dodge except the plan is to go FURTHER into England while also being chased by the English so Ragnar’s pissed about that and goes all Karen and asks to speak with Manager Askeladd. Turns out this was all part of Askeladd’s plan and they were really just leading him out to the front lines to stage his death so Askeladd can worm his way in and work on influencing Canute without Ragnar babying him. Ragnar tells Askeladd that in reality Canute was sent to war to die so that there would be no obstruction to his older, cooler brother taking the throne and the faction that supported Canute would fall apart and rally behind his brother. I’m no scholar for monarchys but does Canute really have any claim to the throne here like why is there a faction backing him at all if Herald is older and by birthright should be next in line and according to the weird Viking standards is better suited for the job when Canute’s main achievements are being REALLY Christian and pissing himself at the first sign of trouble? Feels like a reverse Ranking of Kings situation where the guy everyone wants for the job was next in line anyway so why was there any trouble. Anyway Ragnar dies and it’s really sad and Askeladd has to change plans and bring Canute into hiding because apparently King Dad wants to murder him for being a fucking pussy and if anyone wants to get anything out of saving the prince they have to make sure that doesn’t happen.

Hello. I wanted to ask one thing. Why is everyone, including Rumiko, saying that Inuyasha and Kikyo dated? Maybe I'm just TOO stupid and blind, because I only read the manga and didn't watch the anime, but I didn't see anything hint that they were dating... Eh, they hardly even knew each other. How long had they known each other before Naraku's trap? Or the moment where Kikyo asks him to become a human is date? I don’t understand, where is the love and trust that everyone constantly talks about? I saw something like affection for each other, but love...
Honestly when I first read the manga I thought Inuyasha and Kikyo were labeled as “exes” because it was the simplest way to explain their situation, even if it’s hard for me to see them as such since they had so few interactions pre-betrayal. I mean, even during their last conversation when Kikyo dies the only "happy memory" they have of their time "together" is still just them sitting 5ft apart while Kikyo talks about the jewel, which makes it pretty clear to me that they never really had the chance to start a romantic relationship. I think we’re supposed to feel bad that Naraku “prevented them from being happy together” but that falls flat to me when we learn that the jewel is the real villain and Kikyo’s plan to make Inuyasha human most likely would have gotten them both killed.
In the story itself tho, I think it makes sense for most characters (Sango, Miroku, Shippo, Koga, Kagome, etc) to assume Inuyasha and Kikyo were "dating" before the betrayal. They weren't there to see it and Inuyasha never explained anything to them, so they can only guess what his relationship with Kikyo was really like. Also Kagome not knowing anything about Inuyasha and Kikyo’s past is 90% of what drives the “love triangle”. Like in the Mt Azusa arc when she says “Inuyasha has a past with Kikyo that I can’t make him forget, I understand that!” she has no idea what this “past” is, and it’s one of the main sources of her insecurities. If she knew that Kikyo is jealous of how she healed Inuyasha’s heart, and how Inuyasha wasn’t open with Kikyo like he is with her, Kagome would be a lot less insecure and Rumiko wouldn’t have been able to drag out the love triangle drama for as long as she did.
There might be some cultural differences to consider as well. If you remove Miroku groping Sango and his “bear my children” schtick, him and Sango did not have that many genuine romantic interactions before he proposed to her. From what I’ve heard romance is a lot more “subtle” in Japan, especially in that time period.
And finally If you haven't seen the anime anon, there's a 1 hour long special episode that adds a lot of nonsensical "backstory" to Inuyasha and Kikyo that makes it seems like they had this long, hyper-romanticized relationship. Inuyasha gives her his mother's rouge and Kikyo decides not to put the subjugation beads on him, which makes a lot of anime-only fans believe that they did trust each other and would have lived happily ever after if it weren't for Naraku (which also isn't true as I said before, since Kikyo’s plan to make Inuyasha use the jewel is the real reason why their relationship failed).  I mean, personally I’m not in the “Inuyasha didn’t actually love Kikyo he was just confused” camp, I think Inuyasha is someone who cares deeply and quickly about people who show him kindness and Kikyo was that for him so I do believe he loved her. I don’t believe Kikyo truly loved Inuyasha tho, but that’s a discussion for another day.

{{7:03 pm pdt this is kikyo from inuyasha. She’s dead & being burned 🔥 w/the shikon jewel 💎, she purified it. I think she’s a miko? Priestess? I read online prob within last 5 years that kikyo means Chinese bell 🔔 flower 🌺 (coughing , sternum is hot 🥵 have to lean back from being on my side) 😖😭😫more anus pain stinging from incontinence & incubus) earlier this year the incubus did spiritual warfare on my bladder sphincter it was excruciatingly painful 😖) 7:09 pm pdt I might be ethnically ambiguous looking 👀 or the demon lord changed 🔼 my face multiple times. A Chinese woman 👩 said I looked Chinese. Mexican looking people asked if I was Mexican. A guy who looked maybe Native American 🇺🇸 told me I looked Native American 🇺🇸. Nigerians 🇳🇪 told me I looked white but not white. & then I asked in the dark do I look black? & they said “yeah” I don’t know 🤷🏻‍♀️ if they were serious though. 7:17 pm pdt}}
{{ updating 6:28 am pdt there was a thing about astronauts someone told me about that they become infertile when they come back from space. I think it has something to do with heat. Friction from entering the atmosphere. I wonder if hot tubs are too hot 🥵?? I once went into hot tub maybe 🤔 maybe when I was 11 or 12? It was at mom’s boyfriend’s house 🏠 his name was Michael & he had a tattoo of a heartbeat line on his arm?? I think they probably might have insisted I try it?? I feel like I did. I don’t remember any more but I feel like I did & maybe younger sister didn’t. I really cannot believe the incubus about the children after watching good night goodnight again. The incubus messes with the internet & made me see at least 2 different versions. I think maybe she’s really the real mother, not me. & he’s a liar/phony who doesn’t care about breaking other people’s hearts 💕 2 get what he wants. & he broke my trust this week by what felt like him setting me on fire 🔥 6:38 pm pdt }}
days ago, after got second Covid shot/jab my whole body felt like it was on fire 🔥 flamingo 🦩 . I had hot 🥵 flashes in 2020 winter ❄️ Maybe ? And 2021. & all this year I was burning up 🥵 without feeling sick, but I had nausea on/off since 2017, vomited 🤮 in 2019? & this summer, a lot of #3 very painful 😖 on top of other chronic pain since 2017. But all my life I had pains of one kind or another. I had little rashes when I was probably 4 years old & 5 years old (definitely, before moving to king 👑 city 🌃. Then when we moved back to the Bay Area I scratched myself in my sleep 🛌 when I woke up 🆙 I was covered in scabs up 🆙 & down legs 🦵 & arms & my bedsheets (my mom said I picked out myself with a line of geese @ the top 🔝) was stained with generous lines of blood 🩸 (did I pre-crucify? Myself in my sleep?? 😴) . I might have been 6 or 7 years old. I remember being afraid 😱 of the dark & not getting out of bed 🛌 to get lotion 🧴 even though felt dry? I think I felt dry? Trying to remember. I think I remember... now not sure... whatever. Might have been 2nd or 3rd grade I washed 🧼 my hands 🙌 a lot bcz I didn’t have lotion 🧴, hands were dry & I thought washing would make it undry & smooth bcz that’s what it seemed/looked like happened. Then I’m that same classroom I think I remember getting rashes inside my elbows then behind knees @ the same time. It weeped/oozed stung itched cracked tightened uncomfortably giving way to more itching as it dried. My mom wasn’t happy that I had it, it felt almost like she blamed me for having it in retrospect with the way she seemed irritated 😤. I remember it got gray cold & very windy 🌬 & I still wore shorts 🩳 bcz my mom told me to wear it until I healed. A yard duty asked me if I could wear pants 👖 and I told her that I will ask my mom. This part I remember she really seemed irritated 😤 with me for asking - I probably sounded dumb to her. I remember when I was 6? In king city and they bought Nintendo entertainment machine w/duck hunt Mario bros & when we were @ the store 🏬 I asked mom are we going to wrap it in wrapping paper when we get home. & she answered me back in a way I used to remember but now I don’t but it made me see my mom differently. It didn’t feel nice the way she answered but she said no because you already know what it is. I think the way she said it kinda stung. 3:54 pm pdt. The tone. My mom is a hard worker I think. She said she had a rough life. She had to work & start learning the value of money 💰 & accounting since she was 7 years old? Very young. She had to help with shopping & beg relatives for rice 🍚 when her father gambled away his paycheck. She also lived a part of her childhood w/out electricity ⚡️ & learned to do payroll on a relatives farm when she was a kid. She said she was always getting good grades in school 🏫 & had to help take care of her younger siblings (she was the oldest of 8!) she had to gather wood 🪵 & wash laundry 🧺 in the river. She said she usually got in trouble & caught? If she ever tried to go out for fun, so it was probably rare for her to get out & do it. When she worked for a Japanese man 👨 she got drunk at a company party 🎉 blacked out, & when she woke up she was pregnant 🤰 with my oldest sister. I was told she was my aunt, but after I met her for the second time in my life when I was 13 years old & came back home from their home country she told me finally that she was my sister. When I met her when I was 7 the first time I thought she was so pretty and I for a strange reason I wished that she could be my sister- very strange. When 7 years old, too naïve to realize that it was probably god giving me hints? Now I’m wondering if it did occur to me.... whatever. I remember being happy when she told me I think. But she didn’t seem to respond much to me. I guess it wasn’t the right time. I had issues. I think I rubbed people the wrong way when I was 13. I don’t remember if it was before I hit my head very hard or after during that trip.
There are too many things to recall & write ✍️ & I don’t know 🤷🏻‍♀️ if it would change people’s opinions about me. All my relatives are distant in mileage wise & in communication on both sides of my family.
anyway I guess a chunk @ a time. A lot of this is very personal & it’s difficult for me to feel comfortable putting this out there. There’s a part of me that believes I should keep it 2 myself bcz my belief about myself is that I’m phony. All this stuff did happen, to the best of my knowledge.
growing up with a family like mine probably wasn’t healthy plus there’s the demon lord, who controls everything. People say “god willing “ 4 a reason. When I was about 6/7 years old & moved back to the Bay Area someone had bought me the Disney’s sleeping beauty doll. I remember dad me & lil sis went 2 the toy store 🏬 2 buy prince 👑 Eric 4 her. B4 we get 2 the doll aisle? My dad says I cannot tell him what I want I can only hint. I’m starting to realize at this moment this is like Ariel losing her voice to the sea 🌊 witch 🧙‍♀️. Haha ha funny dad! So I see prince Phillip but I think I don’t say anything! I don’t remember saying anything! We grab Eric & we might have left in 5 minutes. I think I remember hinting at a Barbie dress being pretty- I think it was pink??? But at Christmas 🎄? He got me different outfits that wasn’t pink that time. All wrapped. under the tree? I have a picture of me holding a blue & black one, & I remember a yellow (& gold ?) dress 👗 w/ green decorations. 4:58 pm pdt.
After my parents separated there were times it seemed I irritated my mom & I remember one time I was trying to figure out what to say to not get her angry 😤 & it only seemed to make her more angry. I had bad timing ⏱ I guess & didn’t follow directions 🧭 I guess.. she said not now I guess I should have took it at that. I only wanted a yea or no answer if it was going to happen at all that day not at that moment I didn’t expect us to run out the door 🚪 in 5 minutes I guess I wanted to know maybe I wanted something to look forward to that day?? With out realizing it?? She said probably many days before or longer time ago 2 remind her to take us out for donuts 🍩 & hot chocolate. I only wanted an answer if I should not expect it today. I even tried to say it with out throwing a tantrum or being forceful/demanding. I even remember hanging my head, maybe looking down. I think she might have pulled me by my T-shirt that time & slapped 👋 me. I don’t know 🤷🏻‍♀️ if I got my memories mixed up.
how dare Adam Levine put donuts 🍩 in beautiful mistakes! 😡 he’s (the incubus 😵😖😣 hurt my ribs front right, under chest👿) been giving me #3 a part of this year whenever I ate bread 🥖, & my name in one language means beautiful & rose 🌹 & lily.
I guess I have more reasons to not be proud of myself... like when I was in king 👑 city 🌃 I edited a girl’s (neighbor) little mermaid 🧜‍♀️ book 📖 with a silver color pencil ✏️ & colored in silver mermaid tail scales ⚖️ to imitate the Disney’s Ariel doll tail. With out permission. I ate a lot of their cheese 🧀 (they gave it to me). & I accidentally killed a brown butterfly 🦋 I think I felt bad about it. 5:23 am pdt. 😞 this is not a joke to me.
I thought I remember a Ted talk of a woman in a wheel chair 🪑 who married a man 👨 because her father told her to? She did things that her parents wanted her to do. That man she married I think she said he tried to kill her & a car 🚗 wreck made her need a wheel chair 🪑. A rough way to learn to do things you want to do not what your parents want. I cannot find it though web search 🔦 & Ted talk website search 🔦. I also cannot find a case that I saw on tv 📺 probably when I was a teen.
{{ 6:41 pm pdt. I had to go to the bathroom 🚽 ≈5:39 pm ? About the case {I’m coughing & he’s hurting my forehead} there was a woman 👩 who worked at Walmart or Kmart & a best friend-a guy - who worked there, too. Now I’m questioning 🤨 my memory but I’m going 2 write ✍️ anyway. & a rich man 👨 who was only rich bcz of his parents. She dated him, he impregnated her. He didn’t care for her but she kept on going back to him. He was bad though. I think he probably leaded her on. But still kept her at a distance? How to explain. I think the reporters called him a playboy. Her mom told her she should ask 4 child 👶 support . She was reluctant but did it anyway like her mom told her to. Fast forward ⏩ she’s dead ☠️. The rich 🤑 playboy murdered her & tried 2 make it look like her best friend did it. He tried to frame 🖼 him. I forget how. Why I cannot find the case?? Maybe bcz it’s old now? Maybe bcz search 🔦 engines aren’t good. Maybe bcz demon lord don’t want rich 🤑 people to look bad so he hid it from sight. Bcz of manifest destiny wouldn’t look valid anymore. 😵🤌🤌🤌🖕we are screwed. There’s no future of real change. Only martyrs and surface level/fake change. 6:54 pm pdt 😖😖😖😭😭😭😫😫😫incubus is hurting my anus w/ spikes & acid 6:55 pm pdt let them do what they want there’s no point in fighting them or doing anything for change. Change = martyrs = death ☠️ 😵 6:57 pm pdt}}
if god or demon lord was giving me signs 🪧 I was going to die like Lucia, maybe he was also giving me signs 🪧 with the Disney’s movies, like sleeping beauty briar rose 🌹 & the toy 🧸 store 🏬 & younger sister getting prince 🤴 Eric- somehow I think she got 2 erics & 2 Aladdins & 2 jasmines. & I had 1 regular Ariel & she had a Christmas Ariel doll. We had a lot of dolls 😅. I notice I didn’t get any of the Disney prince dolls, I think I had 2 ken dolls. I remember reading an article online that Barbie & ken broke up 🆙 & never actually married & started dating a new guy from Australia 🇦🇺. All the bride 👰‍♀️ Barbie dolls was only Barbie fantasies about getting married. 5:39 pm pdt
7:25 pm pdt the Bible is a trick to the naïve. Spelling? To trick us into dying. & he’s laughing at us while he hugs dead cow carcasses. If he’s supposedly my prince 🤴 Philip, to the briar rose 🌹 🥀, I have to rethink the betrothal idea 💡. The Disney’s movie 🎥 makes it look like it’s a good union, but the guy might actually be too old 4 briar rose. Either way, we should not assume that betrothals are any good. Maybe 🤔 it was an obligation. & his free will choices are reflected in all his music videos & movies. 7:31 pm pdt.

I want Heath ledger minus the paint ball ⚽️. Why’s he dead ☠️? Overdosed? I wonder if he was a good man. He looks like a good man 👨. Did all the good non-cheating men die of Covid? Would make the incubus look bad if there were actually good men around.

Cannot get to bottom of browser again to switch btwn websites while in this editing post mode. 6:05 am pdt. I thought I read that a pinky finger means girlfriend/boyfriend in Japanese 🇯🇵 ?? Many years ago. In America 🇺🇸 People say pinky promise. If I’m a slave incubus he probably has powers to stupefy ? What is stupefy? To make stupid? Control memory? Bcz he can paralyze to rape you in your sleep 🛌 so he has date rape drug like powers to make you black out like drunk 😵 & make you not remember. So he might have wanted me to think 🤔 girlfriend/ boyfriend from first time or recently until he burned me/ felt like set me on fire 🔥 literally; not a figure of speech 🎤. 6:11 am pdt. All to manipulate me, to use me; not love me. 6:12 am pdt }}
I h*te you incubus. The page 📄 refreshed bcz of an error. 12:03 pm pdt . I lost all of my new writing ✍️ including immediately notations of pain with time. I don’t see a reason for it to happen since I didn’t touch any links. I think it’s a special code incubus friends like to do to automatically refresh like automatically time out. If you’re bored or thinking of a way to keep/lose your job, beware of incubus friends that will make it come true. It seems my text ain’t welcomed here. No one will talk to me directly. I get spam. Dating service messages. Probably incubus friends making fun of me. 12:08 pm pdt.
Cleveland jersey in same series of pictures (have to find if pinky promise looking pictures. 12:20 pm) aneurysm might have been created below belly button painful stretching feeling. ≈ 11:19 & again minutes later. Same thing might have happened to sister’ friend also Aries ♈️ ≈2014/2015/2016? Died in hospital 🏥 From it. She felt her insides abdominal area was being ripped apart. Mom gave her tough love. 💕. Her older sis Was a nurse 👩‍⚕️. When I met her in high school 🏫 she had a swollen looking body. I think I was told her body thinks it is pregnant 🤰 when not. 12:14 pm pdt. 12:17 pm pdt cell phone is getting hot 🥵 a few years before she died she finally got cured of it by a witch 🧙‍♀️ doc I think 🤔????? anniversary of ghost 👻 ship 🛳 fire 🔥 in Oakland. I believe on the news 📰 on tv 📺 I saw 👀 a brother of acquaintance from college passed away in the fire 🔥. Also the anniversary of something else. But I will only focus 🧘🏻‍♀️ on this now. He was studying 📚 computer 👨‍💻 science 🧪 ? European languages? & neuroscience? He looked like he was special . Probably someone the government would have wanted to hire? A triple major was he?? Someone in my family knew someone who married a man 👨 whose father was considered a national treasure & protected by the government bcz of his invention showed his mind was valuable to the country. Long are the days of that is gone. The man passed away I guess in old age. 3:33 am pdt . None of my family are geniuses. 😖😭😫 probably makes it easier for incubus to take advantage of us. Incubus, do you ever allow me to be who I really am??? Probably any after pain. So he knows how much pain I’m in. Whenever I say it is low he raises it immediately afterwards. 3:38 am pdt. In high school 🏫 I also met someone whose name is like a character of a book 📖? 3:40 am pdt if a man makes a woman 👩 into cattle 🐄 treats her like one, pretends to be in-love (chemical cocktail 🍸? Or only façade manipulation?/acting. Saw on news 📰? Can do a scan? & see the brain 🧠 in-love? Is it true???) then dumps her after he gets her to make babies 👶 with him , is this considered a wicked act?? Especially if he tortures her to death ☠️?? & she might have had capacity to really love 💗 someone?? If she were allowed to ?? Does love ❤️ = good? Does breeding for power/control = wicked?? I could imagine it would lead to a destructive world 🌎 without real change, a vicious cycle. If genes 🧬 give us personality & genius smarts that maybe 🤔 not every human possesses, a combination of genes 🧬 (song lyrics I’ve loved 🥰 you lifetimes before 🎼???. Legend of the blue sea 🌊?? Title?? Korean dramady 🎭 w/ my sassy girl actress) if this is true, could we consider Mother Nature 🌬 to be a nebulous? Kind of spirit? That would endow specific people to be president for a while ? Not something that should be controlled like cattle 🐄, reduced to, by cowardly truly unloving schemes? D*mned to repeat 🔁 history like Martin Luther king junior’s death ☠️? Would you say then that incubus has no good character & not worthy of being or having any sort of super natural powers that would essentially & honestly make him a rapist without such powers 💥???????????????????????????????????????????!!!!!
