“I want to be a vet” is a common childhood dream… but I’m curious just how widespread it is!
Reblogs are appreciated 🐾

Karen the bearded dragon enjoys helping me study. She definitely thinks she is better than me, but she's good moral support🤎
Keep at it and finish your semester strong!!

no matter how many times you see it there is something about birth that genuinely touches you. Seeing that new being. Seeing it move for the first time. Still and comatose and then suddenly moving and alive. It’s brought me close to tears every time. Overcome with emotions and knowing that you were here. You were one of the first things this life ever saw. This little thing will go one and see so much but you were there. You were there to dry them off and welcome them to the world, watch them take their first steps. It’s not something you get used to. It never becomes just part of the job.

Hi! I do not have a large following on tumblr (other than pornbots I have not had the spoons to block), but a little about me:
I am a queer, minority poc student at a vet school in the USA and I McFucking hate it here. I am from the deep south and moved cross-country two years ago and experienced very tumultuous housing for my first several months. I have a lot of my experience is in working with low income populations due to the demographics of where I worked. I am pursuing mixed animal rural/livestock medicine and have an interest in access to care. If my username was not enough of an indicator, my Special Interest is parasites.
If you would like to hear about my experience at Vet School Not To Be Named, or have me answer some questions about vet school (or if you just want whack ass stories), hmu!

100 Days of Productivity Challenge (2/100)
05/17
i was able to get to the library today! i also ran to go grab some dog food after getting some work done and saw the cutest dogs so that was definitely another plus :)
i still haven't gotten used to not having constant access to somewhere i could go to get work done and not be interrupted in the way i could back at school. the library was open until midnight every weekday but there were also several places to eat on campus that had booths and tables for us to sit and do work or i could even go to the first or fourth floor of my dorm building since classes were held there too during the day. i definitely miss that freedom and the ability to get places without relying on a car. in general, i have found that i miss the whole school environment and find new things every day that had helped me with my mental health without me even being aware. things as simple as the dining halls being open at only certain times and not being within my building forcing me to get out of bed at better hours and to get outside if i wanted a meal.
goals of today
start analysis of scholarly article assignment
lab reports
double check companion animal report
draft email
keep an eye on your goals and have a reason behind any action you take, even if it's a simple one. live with purpose and you find yourself feeling more fulfilled.
I'm proud of you.

Life update!!
It's been so long since I've posted shit on here oops 😅 Anyways! I'm currently in college and I graduate in May which is so exciting. I'm a pre-vet major which has been so fun. Today we actually had a livestock exhibition show which finishes up one of my classes. I can't wait to graduate tho. I have an internship at a wildcat sanctuary coming up in September and then I'm hopefully going to vet school the next year so lots of big things coming for me!! I would like to note that I'm doing so good and that's mainly why I got rid of Tumblr in the first place bc I needed to work on myself towards feeling better and I've come so far. Anyways I'm hoping to get back to posting. Maybe I'll end up posting some of the art shit I've done in the past couple years I've been gone and I'll get back into the groove of it! Anyways tysm for your support and I hope you're all doing well!!!

HARD goals are superior to SMART goals.
I said what I said, and I stand by it! Why? I love setting HARD goals because it forces me to include my motivating forces. When I'm having a really tough day where I'm feeling unmotivated or absolutely cannot focus, I can always go back and read my "why." HARD goals encourage you to break your goal down at a much deeper level, and for myself, this has made the biggest difference! H- Heartfelt: Why do you want to accomplish this goal? How will it benefit you? A- Animated: Visualize yourself after accomplishing your goal? How do you feel? How does this goal add value to your life? R- Required/Research: What is required of you in order to accomplish your goal? (This is where you do your research.) What concrete steps can you take today to make it happen? What is your plan of action for the next three months? The next six months? D- Difficult: What skills do you need to work on in order to accomplish your goal? How will you improve these skills?

taking ochem is like walking into a boxing ring knowing that your opponent weighs 100 more pounds than you and doing it anyway. #hulksmash time I guess.

Spring 2023 Update
So, I was able to finish the fall semester with a 4.0, which is the first time I’ve ever achieved something like this! I took break to rest and celebrate, and now am back to the grind for the spring semester.
This semester I am taking three classes and TAing a lab portion for undergrads. My classes are: Physiology of Reproduction, Ruminant Nutrition, and Animal Physiology I. I am TAing undergrad Swine Techniques.
This semester I am going completely digital! I am taking “messy” notes on my Surface Pro before revising on my iPad with GoodNotes, which I’m already in love with!
I’m hoping to be more active on here this semester as having a studyblr does help with motivation, and since I’m going to school and working on my VMCAS (vet school application), I will need all the motivation I can get.
