I saw a really funny meme about Victoria’s interaction with Gong, and it made me think…
There’s probably a LOT of unexplored potential in bias and prejudice against Cauldron capes, right?
What kind of micro aggressions can form due to this? How does it interact with capes in the same team, politically?
For context:
Tumblr media
- Dying 15.3
Victoria gives a pretty well explained summary of Shaker-Movers, helping to explain why the cape is acting like she has PTSD (which is why Vic’s orders work and Gong’s didn’t), and Gong’s simple response is that she is a Cauldron cape.
Ergo, she wouldn’t have these issues like “real” capes. Right? Victoria wants to argue against it, but she has no real proof of this. She has theories but that’s all they are. Theories.
But WE know the truth. Victoria is correct in that vial capes get powers based off of their personality and mental states!
Battery was a passionate and fiery person who uses memories of staying calm, using breathing techniques from her past to help her manage her fear and pain, which gave her the power to become untouchable so long as she forces herself to remain calm and unmoving to charge up.
Newter was insensate with pain, delirious, and his body torn apart when given his vial, and he gained a body that deals with damage, heals, and induces delirium in others.
Sveta was trapped, torn to shreds, skin peeling off in ribbons and trapped metaphorically in a body that wasn’t right for her. She was given ribbons that could get her out of danger, that would provide and protect her with minds of their own, and a body that was what she wanted while still not being hers.
And WB did a great breakdown of the travelers:
Tumblr media
There’s more to explore like how Alexandria had a desire to remain young, a mind foggy from drugs and a body sensitive to pain etc etc, but the gist is that cauldron capes DO have power issues related to what they can do. And according to Battery, they experience mind boggling amounts of pain with each drink of a vial.
However…
Would non-cauldron capes even care?
When Taylor learns about cauldron capes, her first reaction is disgust that these people didn’t earn their powers. That they didn’t suffer like REAL Parahumans did.
Even Victoria is offended when she learns Dean was a cauldron cape, as the intimacy of sharing their trigger events was seen as the next step of their relationship.
When Legend explains how they all should have had trigger events, but didn’t, it falls on deaf ears. No one responds to him and Taylor doesn’t give his words much thought at all.
And why should they? Cauldron capes are liars. They’ve been lying all this time. Nothing they say could be taken at face value. Eidolon could give a huge public speech about being born disabled, suffering from seizures, and his suicide attempts… and it would mean nothing.
He LIED to them about his origins. An unspoken rule has been broken. He didn’t suffer enough to earn his powers.
It’s interesting to me that the Undersiders nor Breakthrough had someone who was a voluntary cauldron cape. Sveta was an advocate for C53’s and hated Legend for being part of Cauldron, but we don’t hear her thoughts on people who simply bought powers. Taylor never knew Accord and Citrine were Cauldron until the very end.
I don’t know how to end this, but his line sticks out to me:

Wilhelm's Mental Health; Autism or Borderline Personality Disorder?
Wilhelm’s mental health status is a complex issue that has been heavily commentated on by the fandom, from what I've observed within the YR fandom, a large number of fans headcanon Wilhelm as having autism but I hope to explore autism and it's symptomology outside of the white male perspective that is defaulted upon in autistic representation by overviewing symptoms that contribute to the interpretations of Wilhelm having either Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) or Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). These two disorders can show up in similar forms, and often get misdiagnosed (especially women and non-white people are immediately pointed toward the BPD diagnosis rather than ASD due to assessor’s prejudice and society's higher expectations for minority groups to mask autistic traits while in public). A key difference between the two is that ASD is a genetic disorder while BPD is a disorder that develops due to childhood trauma. Both disorders have a high likelihood for comorbidity with other mental disorders such as depression, anxiety, and PTSD.
Content Warning: Frank commentary of symptoms associated with Borderline Personality Disorder and Autism Spectrum Disorder, including: self-harm, substance abuse, and emotional dysregulation.
Disclaimer: I am not a mental health professional but I am autistic, and I’ve known quite a number of people with either BPD or autism [In my teenage years, I stayed at a long-term DBT-based treatment center, a therapeutic specialty for created to address BPD that has been expanded to treat other mental health struggles and disorders that go hand-in-hand with BPD symptoms (Substance abuse, self-harm, OCD, etc.)]. This is also solely based on what is seen in the show, not actors' interpretations that are expressed through interviews.
Throughout the series Wilhelm (W) is seen engaging in a multitude of behaviors and experiences feelings that he expresses verbally that could be interpreted as fitting as symptoms of both.
Notably the scene where W is seen smacking his temple with his palm (1x05) can be interpreted as either: purposeful self-harm (a common self-destructive coping mechanism for overwhelming emotions in BPD; his alcohol and drug use could be described similarly) or a self-stimulatory behavior (stimming), a characteristic of ASD to aid in regulating or expressing intense emotions (while W is engaging in this with a “negative” emotion, stimming is used with all emotions), other example include his chest-rubbing, and frequent caressing of different textures.
Intense mood-swings, anger, and difficulties with emotion processing, this is quite evident in W's actions, emotional responses, and feelings he expresses verbally. Both disorders have been observed to have intense changes of emotions at a “drop of a hat.” ASD mood-swings are typically related to exposure to sensory input that is quite uncomfortable, overstimulation, and/or meltdowns (breakdowns due to a culmination of intense feelings, sensory input and/or overwhelming experiences). BPD mood-swings and impulsive actions are more related to triggers of trauma responses, and a lack of regulatory measures
Symptoms Specific to Each Disorder:
BPD:
Attachment to Favorite Person (FP), a symptom of BPD where one idolizes one person in their life to an extreme degree, wanting to spend all their time with their FP, and intense anger and despair with perceived betrayals/slights against them/mistakes. W goes through 2 FPs (Erik and Simon). He adores Erik, and feels betrayal when Erik leaves him at Hillerska. Simon quickly becomes a FP, seeing him as perfect and feeling betrayal when Simon messes up (drug dealing) and the utter despair and hopelessness when Simon needs space and starts dating Marcus; “It feels like I’m going to die” (2x04) (Could be a consequence of being utterly isolated due to being Royal and latching onto anyone who shows care to him)
Unstable / Ineffective Relationships (Simon, Kristina, Minou, and other hierarchy figures): BPD is often associated with people with the disorder lashing out against "completely innocent" people for "no reason", while this can be accurate, it does not account for the triggering of such episodes (See above)
Substance Abuse: People with BPD may utilize alcohol and/or other substances to "numb themselves" from BPD symptoms or distance themselves from harmful memories (autistic people also experience substance abuse and addiction at higher rates than the general allistic population but it is often seen as a crutch to cope with the constant stress of existing in an allistic world which is not implied in what pulls W to substance use throughout the show)
ASD:
Expansion on Sensory Issues: W seemingly wears the same sweater-button up combo often, just with different sweater colors — Grey, teal, and that god-awful bright orange — ensures safe textures when buying new items but he might just have a clothing stylist with horrid taste. W's struggles with the suffocating feel of the suit (2x05). He rarely utilized the overhead lights in his room, instead relied on his string lights, lamps or natural lighting (Florescent and LED lights can trigger light sensitivity and contribute to sensory processing difficulties in autistic people)
Preoccupation with the concept of normalcy (1x01), as a kid being autistic often ostracizes you from your peers, being deemed the “weird kid” is very damaging thus W may have been enticed by the prospect attending a regular high school to like "normal people" (this concept is intrinsically tied to social class throughout the show, W wants normalcy of a lower class while Sara wants conform to a higher class but that's a different spiel). This can lead to masking; the act of forcing oneself to hide their autistic traits in order to fit into Allistic norms. (My one dispute to this interpretation is he's seemingly more disgruntled by the pomp and circumstance of being Royal that "others" him rather than peers judging him)
Lack of social cues (Not even going to waste my time explaining this one, the man had no game, absolutely none, it’s a wonder that he pulled Simon)
This far from a full list of symptoms seen in W's characterization but it's a broad overview of the signs I saw from an autistic lens. I lean towards Wille having Borderline Personality Disorder based on the fact that significant aspects of Autism Spectrum Disorder can be correlated to his unfortunate circumstance of being royalty.

Atlas Drake [he/him, 6’6”]
Working prodigy of the King Institute and your assigned partner, Atlas is one of the most professional and uptight people you have ever met. He is constantly making sure everything and everyone around him are working well within the guidelines presented to him. You, however, seem to be the biggest pain in his side since ‘ever’, and he is constantly ready to remind you of this fact. Maybe you can find a way to melt that frozen exterior of his. Just maybe you can surprise him as well.
Puck Bishop [they/them, 6’2”]
A well-respected scientist, Puck works alongside the King Institute with their studies, and is all the manner of a responsible and put-together person in their profession. More than that though, they are incredibly kind and patient, with a soft smile and wise words ready at any moment. Below this though, lies a more hesitant demeanor, haunted by spirits of the past. Can you remind them of what they have given up? Or settle for gratefulness?
Skye Cortéz [she/her, 5’3”]
Skye is both an enigma and an open book. An extraordinarily bubbly and positive person, she has a very loud personality, and is hard to miss. She considers you one of her closest friends the second she lays her eyes on you, and is loyal to a fault. But you can’t help but notice her uncharacteristic silence when home is brought up, and her naive excitement from the city becomes stranger and stranger once you realize she’s been living here her entire life. Is there anything you can do to tether her? Or will she endlessly drift until it swallows her whole?
Reese Zhu [he/him, 5’5”]
One of the prickliest people to walk the face of the planet, Reese has a bone to pick with everyone and everything. A fiery rebel until the end, he is constantly looking for a fight and considers you a target of his frustration the moment you two meet. However, there is a curb to his aggression, a quietness that he seems consumed in when he assumes you aren’t paying attention. Could you be the one to temper the flames? Or hold on as it consumes you both?
??? [she/her, 6’2”]
She has spotted you. Do you think you can run? Do you think you can hide? Vile creature of the night, monster of the sky, you have no safe haven when this is done.
Come meet your maker, beast.

"If low-wage workers do not always behave in an economically rational way, that is, as free agents within a capitalist democracy, it is because they dwell in a place that is neither free nor in any way democratic. When you enter the low-wage workplace – and many of the medium-wage workplaces as well – you check your civil liberties at the door, leave America and all it supposedly stands for behind, and learn to zip your lips for the duration of the shift. The consequences of this routine surrender go beyond the issues of wages and poverty. We can hardly pride ourselves on being the world's preeminent democracy, after all, if large numbers of citizens spend half their waking hours in what amounts, in plain terms, to a dictatorship. . . My guess is that the indignities imposed on so many low-wage workers – the drug tests, the constant surveillance, being 'reamed out' by managers – are part of what keeps wages low. If you're made to feel unworthy enough, you may come to think that what you're paid is what you are actually worth. It is hard to imagine any other function for workplace authoritarianism. Managers may truly believe that, without their unremitting efforts, all work would quickly grind to a halt. That is not my impression. While I encountered some cynics and plenty of people who had learned how to budget their energy, I never met an actual slacker [. . .] On the contrary, I was amazed and sometimes saddened by the pride people took in jobs that rewarded them so meagerly, either in wages or in recognition. Often, in fact, these people experienced management as an obstacle to getting the job done as it should be done. Waitresses chafed at managers' stinginess toward the customers; housecleaners resented the time constraints that sometimes made them cut corners; retail workers wanted the floor to be beautiful, not cluttered with excess stock as management required. Left to themselves, they devised systems of cooperation and work sharing; when there was a crisis, they rose to it. In fact, it was often hard to see what the function of management was, other than to exact obeisance. There seems to be a vicious cycle at work here, making ours not just an economy but a culture of extreme inequality. [Corporate decision makers and entrepreneurs] occupy an economic position miles above that of the underpaid people whose labor they depend on. For reasons that have more to do with class – and often racial – prejudice than with actual experience, they tend to fear and distrust the category of people from which they recruit their workers. Hence the perceived need for repressive management and intrusive measures like drug and personality testing. But these things cost money – $20,000 or more a year for a manager, $100 a pop for a drug test, and so on – and the high cost of repression results in ever more pressure to hold wages down. The larger society seems to be caught up in a similar cycle: cutting public services for the poor, which are sometimes referred to collectively as the 'social wage,' while investing ever more heavily in prisons and cops. And in the larger society, too, the cost of repression becomes another factor weighing against the expansion or restoration of needed services. It is a tragic cycle, condemning us to ever deeper inequality, and in the long run, almost no one benefits but the agents of repression themselves."

"In the early 1980s, a strange new disease began to spread within the United States (though it’s now believed that the earliest recorded cases were in Norway in the 60s). This disease was mostly found among gay men and intravenous drug users — otherwise healthy men who were falling ill with rare conditions generally only seen in those who are immunocompromised. People didn’t know why it was happening; they were afraid and unsure of how it was spread, but before much else was known of the disease, the press were calling it “GRID” (gay-related immunodeficiency). This led to the phenomenon being seen as a “gay disease” that was risking the health of the general population, and also made the illness easy for many straight people to ignore, because they could pretend that it was irrelevant to their own lives. There was an enormous backlash against the gay community, and rampant homophobia delayed research and treatment advances that might have significantly slowed or prevented the spread of what soon became known as HIV.
"In time, it became understood that HIV was transmitted sexually or through blood, and it also started appearing in populations other than gay men. Some of this spread was from blood transfusions, some through intravenous drug use, and some through sexual contact. This is when the myth of the bi man as a disease vector began to circulate; it was supposed that bi men were getting HIV from gay men, and then spreading it to the straight community. It was also assumed that these men would lie about their same-sex encounters and were thus intentionally putting innocent straight women at risk.
"This narrative, which was completely unsubstantiated by any research, was circulated widely by the press. It especially stigmatized black bi men, claiming that they were practicing unsafe sex on the “DL” (down low), cheating with other men, and bringing the disease home to their female partners. This assumption plays on (and reinforces) the idea that bi people — and bi men in particular — are hypersexual, unable to control their sexual desires, fundamentally dishonest, and unclean. And because HIV was characterized as a “gay” disease, there was very little real discussion of transmission in strictly heterosexual settings."

Daryl's Three favorite memories.
Tumblr media
1-
Daryl Dixon might be a very closed off person with a receptive but unfriendly personality, but even with his bad attitude or rude way of relating to his surroundings, he somehow managed to hit the jackpot amidst the walking dead and the pain.
Katherine Sánchez, the girl he met on the farm, was different from the prejudices that he had already placed on her shoulders. To think that just because of her last name or her millionaire family in New York that she would be a privileged and stupid girl was far from who she was, and one of the first nights we were all together, she could see it.
—I never said being a drug addict is a good thing, don't put words in my mouth. I'm just criticizing how you think people become addicts. It's a Disney fantasy to say 'bad people are addicts' or 'people with no future' because it's false and totally uninformed, especially for a cop. Did you know that overprescribing opioids for every damn physical problem created an entire generation of addicts, right?—Kat asked Shane as she took a long sip from the bottle of red wine.
We were all sitting around a campfire in front of Hershel's house; he was inside sleeping while his daughters, except for Beth who was inside, were outside with us. Kat was next to Maggie, who was glued to Glenn, and that made me laugh because his red face from alcohol and skin-to-skin contact with that girl made him look like a tomato. But I stopped making fun of him to listen to the conversation.
—That's what liberals say, it's the only future, more or less with money or without money, for low-income people and a very normal reality for them, girl. ¿Have you ever seen what those neighborhoods are like?—He asked her, looking at her seriously.
—No, but if you put two neurons together, people addicted to opioids, after they stop using them because they couldn't get them anymore and the authorities shut them down instead of helping them because, I repeat, THEY CAUSED THE PROBLEM they'll seek that feeling elsewhere and end up in those neighborhoods. People with incredible futures or normal people who, I don't know, break a leg, for example, end up dead from using crack or steroids.
—¿And what about the people who sell them? Drug traffickers and distributors, what happens to them? Are they good people for giving them what they need? Because I'm pretty sure those types of people aren't normal or people who got into that million-dollar business that takes lives just because they broke their damn legs or something. —Shane responded.
She sighed heavily as she shook her head. I straightened up and stopped leaning against the tree to look at her; the whole group was silent as we watched them.
—And the economic problems of this shit society and monetary organization, plus the crises we go through, don't ring a bell to you? It's much easier to sell drugs without experience than to get another job. Plus, it pays the bills and supports families, but in the same way, it discards people as if they were nothing, since putting drug dealers in prison doesn't achieve anything because it's a whole organization.
—Maybe you have a point in that, but anyway, it's better to lock up a person than to let them go when they do something against the law.
—¿And what about helping them? You were supposed to be a cop and "help people." ¿Do you think these people were there by their own choice? ¿Do you think they woke up one day and said, 'I want to sell drugs'? This isn't like Breaking Bad.
—Girl, I'm a cop, not the president. I just lock up the bad people and save the good ones. End of story.
—That's very black and white, and life isn't like that. We're gray; you can't lock people up just because they resorted to the last thing they had to feed their families. And believe me, I know you're a cop, and not much can be done, but that's where morality comes in, or thinking with your head instead of brutality. ¿Why not help people for something better and dismantle organizations? Or something simpler, ¿instead of locking up drug-addicted people on the street, take them to a hospital or clinics? Something that actually helps them.
—Why does it bother you so much, girl? I just made a joke, and everyone laughed. ¿Can't you just laugh and forget?
—No, because that's not right, since from your privileged and problem-free point of view, you think only bad people among the poor are addicts and will end up living under a damn bridge. But it's not like that. I know I was very, very privileged in life before all this shit happened, even with that, with not lacking anything and never having to worry about money, I ended up in the same boat as the addicts.
I raised an eyebrow at that; it was odd for a privileged person to defend my previous usual situation with my brother or my neighborhood, but now everything closed when she said that.
—¿To what?" I asked her seriously, leaning my elbows against my knees.
—Adderall and antipsychotics. Now I'm fine because it was like a year ago, but anyway, he can't be such a bastard to say that, and it surprises me that he's a cop, although I don't know why I do it since cops are fucking shit—she said, getting up and taking the half-empty bottle with her.
We all stopped looking at her when she disappeared into the darkness to look at Maggie, her friend since they were kids.
—Her parents pressured her to be perfect in everything she did, so she pretended to have ADHD and schizophrenia in front of a psychiatrist to get those prescribed medications after coming to the conclusion that being at the top of success cost a price. She stopped her pills when I found out, and we noticed that it was killing her, but it's still a recent wound, and besides, Kat has always been an advocate for the poor—Maggie explained as she took a long sip of water, looking at the fire.
I got up from the ground and walked the same steps where Kat's body had gone, leaving me standing in the middle of the backyard near the barn, watching her from afar sitting against the poorly painted and old wooden planks at the back with her legs to her chest and continuously taking sips while looking at the moon.
—For a mommy and daddy's girl, you turned out pretty real—I said as I approached her.
—It doesn't matter who provides you with sperm or who gives birth to you; What matters is who raises you and with what mentality those people show you the world— her gaze never left the moon
—¿Butlers and nannies?
—Workers like cooks or cleaners, my mother's assistant and just a nanny. All immigrants because 'people from difficult countries create workers who don't complain', according to my parents—she said with disgust in his voice. —I don't agree at all with what my parents did or with what they thought they had in their heads, besides it seems shitty to me that those people raised me and never had good pay for their extra work.
—The black sheep of the family, it seems—I said with a laugh in my voice.
—My parents' favorite, in case you didn't notice—the sarcasm in her voice made me laugh.
We stayed silent for a long time, both of us looking at the clear sky, enjoying the cold air.
—My brother was an addict, but he was a bad person.
—¿Didn't he make it out?
—¿Get here? No, he was even in the group before he came here and remained an addict. The pills Glenn brought were his.
—¿Did he become one of those bastards or did he go out as a lone wolf?
I chuckled at the latter.
—Rick handcuffed him to the roof of a building, and when I went to look for him, he had cut off his hand to escape — I said as I grabbed the bottle and took a long swig.
—Police brutality doesn't even wane in an apocalypse, it's not surprising, to be honest — her lips pursed.
—I don't know if he's alive, but at least I know that only one Dixon kills another Dixon.
—My father told me that once, only a Sanchez can bring down another Sanchez. He was talking about our empire as the second-largest bank in the United States and our generational wealth, but I think it applies.
We both fell silent, staring at the stars and the moon with the empty bottle between us.
Daryl thought a lot about that memory when he was trapped by Negan, thinking about Kat and how they had thought the best thing that ever happened to him helped him not to think about the images of Glenn or the loud music that deafened him, he just kept reliving moments, but that was one of his favorites.

Genuine question. In an anarchistic society what do we do about folks who want to hurt and kill people like it's the fucking Purge? Do we let them, because having rules is the opposite of anarchy, or do we stop them because even anarchists can have morals?
I honestly don't think there are many people who live in our current society who want to hurt and kill others but don't "because there are rules".
In the UK, 2 women a week are killed by their partners. Part of this is about it being difficult (economically, practically, emotionally) to leave an abusive relationship. Some women stay because their partners convince them they will then use the court system to continue their abuse, or they will get access to the children and hurt them (in England, domestic abuse against a parent doesn't stop the other parent getting unsupervised access).
I genuinely believe, in an anarchist system with solid communities where we all look out for and support each other, this sort of scenario would be less likely, because it would be easier for people to leave abusive partners. I also think a true dismantling of patriarchy would make this less likely, and I'd expect relationships to more closely resemble "relationship anarchy" and be less closed, which I truly believe could be a protective factor against domestic abuse (I'm not saying it would never happen in this scenario, just it would be less likely).
To steal part of a slogan from antifascists "we protect us". Certainly ask people who've experienced domestic violence if the police "make things better"- for many, the answer is no.
Much of the other interpersonal violence in our societies is driven by crime. I think most people accept that decriminalising drugs and moving to a harm reduction model reduces crime. In a society where everyone has what they need, and feels they have a "future" available to them, there's no, or far less, incentive to turn towards violence. Most people involved with violent crime don't want to be- they've ended up there due to lack of other options, or lack of a way out, or a lack of basic resources. These scenarios simply wouldn't exist within an anarchist community.
We can also talk about the violence done in the name of racism, homophobia, transphobia, xenophobia and so on between individuals. All of these prejudices arise out of, and are fuelled by, the state creating the idea of in groups and out groups. The state, particularly in times of financial or social turmoil, feeds fascism, and fascism feeds this kind of violence.
And these groups are not protected by the police. If they are protected, they are protected by the wider community- I've seen this recently in Newquay, in South Wales, in London, and it happens all over the UK. A group is targeted, people turn up to protect them, often the police turn their violence on the protectors, or at a bare minimum protect the fascists.
Do you think <30 fascists would stick around for hours in the face of over 200 counter protestors if they didn't have a long line of police protecting them?
Indeed, you need to consider the violence of the state. On a worldwide level, surely a large proportion of killing and violence is carried out by armies and the police. In an anarchist system, these forces would of course cease to exist, and this would cause a massive net reduction in violence. This is a basic principle of anarchism, I would suggest.
Ultimately, to be an anarchist, you need to believe in the inherent goodness of people. You need to understand what causes violence, how the state creates a system where violence is inherent, how power leads to violence and licences certain types of violence. I think without exploring this, you can only ever have a surface level grasp of anarchism.
Some people will read this, and point towards the fact that serial killers and so on exist. And I would like to point out that we know they exist, because they exist now, under capitalism. Nothing within the capitalist system truly prevents a serial killer from hurting others- yes, in some cases, they may be "caught" or "stopped" by the police- equally in some cases, the police imprison and sometimes the state even kills the wrong person.
Firstly, I do think it's possible that some of the situations that may "create" serial killers may be different in an anarchist society. But even if that's not the case, these individuals represent a vanishingly small proportion of the wider population, and there's no reason to believe they are constrained by laws or social rules.
As I say, my vision of anarchism is one where communities protect themselves. I would hope that we'd be able to help even the most damaged individuals in some way, whilst keeping the wider community safe. And yes, this is a suggestion of a utopia, you can say it's unrealistic, but the system we have now isn't working for a huge range of reasons.
In many ways, although this is a pretty shallow ask, there's so much I could write about this. I have things to say about the inherent violence in capitalism, which causes so much injury and starvation worldwide, but I think I'll leave it here for now, and if people are interested in hearing about why capitalism kills far more people than individuals ever could, perhaps someone could prompt me to write this in the future.

I never on my life got this nervous with a post before. This is me advocating for a group I'm not a part of and I tried to do my research the best I could. So let's go.
THE YANOMAMI HUMANITARIAN CRISIS (AND GENOCIDE)
When the pandemic hited Brazil and it was revealed that former president and Trump personal dick sucker Jair Messias Bolsonaro refused the vacine numerous times and ignored Pfizer tentatives of contact, not only that but he spred dangerous misinformation about the virus. Because of his lack of responsability during the covid-19 crisis brazilian left wing started calling him a genocide. But we had no idea how right we were.
Bolsonaro was always a huge supported of mineration. He even tried to legalize it on indegenous people - an effort he didn't suceed. One of brazilian biggest gold reserves is in protective areas more specifically in the divise between Brazil and Venezuela were the yanomami indigenous tribe lives. Well you can imagine where the story goes.
Bolsonaro defunded organs that protected native people and put on comand of the yanomami areas high ranking militar people who had no experience, instruction or prepare whatsoever for it. They made a concil to discuss the righs of land and protection of the Amazon rainflorest and none of the members where native people. They autorized the miners to act close to the area.
Not only that but they refused to send help, closed health centers and ignored letters from people working for FUNAI (the organization that protects and acts on indegenous land) about extreme violence from the miners and corruption inside the institucion (for instance their helicenter for specialized helicopters was being used by the miners who bought the people fiscalizing the landings). 30% of the medicine sent to the tribe never got to them.
With the miners destroying the land they depended to leave, bringing deceases and cominting acts of violence soon famine came to the tribes and the miners started to trade food for either gold or more frequently sexual favors mostly from minors. Some that couldn't sexually assault them by despair did it by force and a 12 year old girl was abused and killed, her body throwed in the river, the authorities took a long time to hear the natives denounces and try at least rescue the body. They also used food as payment to work either on their farms or by doing the mining. Besides that they would trade alcohool and drugs to the natives to turn them addicted and dependent on them.
Bolsonaro and some of his personal are being investigated for purposifully causing this tragedy as means to facilitate mining wich constitutes in proper ethinical genocide. It's only an investigation but if nothing more his inaction and omission already constitutes a human rights violation. I don't know if anyone will actually respond for it. I hope they do but I don't trust this capitalistic society to do anything against powerfull people no matter what they do.
Now I did lie in the begining of this post. I'm sorry. I said we had no idea about it and that's a lie. Me and other white people had the priviledge of not knowing or caring enough. Indigenous activists have been talking about it the whole time. In november when doing a presentation about how psychology could help in the fight for land reform and indegenous spaces my research took me to an interview with an indigenous leader where he said that Bolsonaro's discourse by itself made so the miners and landowners relatated to agriculture would invade protected areas and beat or even kill the natives who oppose and when they talked about their rights they would say "not for long" or "it doesn't matter president Bolsonaro is on our side". That was just based on his racist rethoric against native people. His actions were even more talked about. This was an evitable tragedy and we have to keep it in mind so we can always listen and look for the signs of prejudice and violence to at least try to end them before it's too late.
I'm doing this post not for a lession on white inaction but mostly because there isn't much I can do to help as a broke college student. So I'm trying to maybe hype some donations from you guys.
Here is the link from an organization who is helping to buy food and medicine and help the humanitarian crisis. I did some background checks and also this one actually accepts money in different currencies. So yay. Please, please IF YOU CAN DONATE.

Yknow, dating sims sure do make up the wildest shit to justify you dating standard anime guys. Hey, do you want to date actual historical figures (Napoleon, Vincent Van Gogh) but as vampires? How about you get isekaied into the middle of a fantasy civil war with the warring armies representing different Alice in Wonderland characters and Wonderland is actually a generic fantasy kingdom and btw you are the reincarnation of Alice for some reason, oh hey you want to date these mafia guys in 1920s Italy but Mussolini is not mentioned (almost as if what’s the fucking point setting this game in Italy) Or what if you want to date modern Japanese cops? BUT DONT WORRY ALL COPS ARENT BAHHHD. Do you also want to discuss the inherent corruption in the police for- Hey, you wanna play as a time-travelling reporter who finds a wholesome found family with her studio-mandated male harem? Sure, but after we spend two hours failing to tackle drug trafficking and illegal immigration and using trauma for shock value. What about a game where you play a woman who suffered amnesia and is trying to piece back the fragments of her past with her chosen boyfriend and you have to rekindle your relationship with him? Nah, lets leave all her characterisation to a pixie flying in her head and make her harem consist of an abuser, a serial rapist, her math tutor and a terrorist. Theres one where you play as a librarian who got kidnapped and sent to the palace and is forced to sign a royal contract where you have to MONITOR 1 OUT OF 12 PRINCES to see which one should be the king cos the brothers are split into two parties on which one should be king and only the woman can choose cos apparently the contract need some pure hearted woman to be an unbiased party?? WHATT. There's a game where you play as a literal living doll with poisonous skin who's the clone of someone's long dead daughter being abducted by a fancy thief and now lives in steampunk London to start a new life BUT OOOHHH IT TURNS OUT YOU HAVE A SECRET LITTLE BROTHER WHO REVEALS YOU WERE THE 666TH CLONE EVER EXISTED AND IT TURNS OUT YOUR CREATOR DAD HATED YOU WOOOOOO SCARY!!! QUEEN VICTORIA IS THERE AND ALSO A TERRORIST WHO WANTS TO NUKE GREAT BRITAIN WITH THE MC'S POWERS AND A MAGIC TREE. (well at least they were accurate in Britain's vampiric levels of colonisation) OH AND APPARENTLY THE SOURCE OF YOUR POWERS COMES FROM A HEART SHAPED PHILOSOPHER'S STONE EMBEDDED IN YOUR CLEAVAGE.
BUT WAIT THERE'S STILL MORE
There's another game where you play as the female reincarnation of Cupid (So Aphrodite, then?) and you are sent to Earth to be a matchmaker and you would think someone whos a literal love goddess would be very worldly, snarky and doesnt fall for any traps men pull in dating BUT NOPE SHES JUST AS DAINTY AND NAIVE AS EVERY OTHER VISUAL NOVEL PROTAGONIST. WHAT ABOUT A GAME WHERE YOU PLAY AS A WOMAN WHO JUST TURNED 18 AND BECAUSE SHE IS THE LAST OF HER "WHITE" CLAN SHE HAS TO GET A HUSBAND AND EVERY TIME SHE DATES A PERSON FROM A DIFFERENT COLOURED CLAN HER HAIR GETS DIFFERENT HIGHLIGHTS AND ALSO THERES A RIGID CASTE SYSTEM IN THE WORLD BASED ON THE COLOUR OF YOUR CLAN AND THERE IS DISCRIMINATION AND PREJUDICES AGAINST THE CONSIDERED LOWER COLOURS, SO MUCH SO IF A HIGHER COLOUR CLAN PERSON DATES A LOWER COLOUR CLAN PERSON, THEY GET BANISHED INTO THE UNDERWORLD. COS THATS WHAT DATING SIMS NEED! CLASSISM, RACISM AND EUGENICS! THE WHOLE FUCKING NINE YARDS.
AND FINALLY IF THAT DOESNT SELL YOU, WHAT ABOUT:
A GAME WHERE YOU PLAY AS A DAUGHTER OF A PRIEST WHO HAS THE BLOOD OF EVE (my god XD) THAT MAKES HER IRRESISTABLE TO VAMPIRES AND SHE BECOMES A SEX SLAVE/CHEW TOY FOR EVERY ROMANCEABLE CHARACTER IN THE STORY. AND YET WE'RE SUPPOSED TO SYMPATHISE WITH THE RAPIST VAMPIRES BECAUSE THEY HAVE MOMMY ISSUES....THIS GAME BECAME A MULTIMEDIA FRANCHISE
...Whatever happened to games where we just date decent people?

Someone asked a very innocuous question in the tag, what has Lewis done for people (you know who's fans) to hate him so.. that got me thinking yk Lewis has quite literally never done anything to warrant the hatred he gets from certain people. If there's Silverstone then there's Monza too. Lewis was the who got robbed publicly, he stood there and congratulated him on his win anyway, Lewiswas the one getting called all types of racist and homophobic slurs by a certain someone's father in-law, he was the one getting accusations of doing drugs, he's the one who's been dignified through all the failures in the recent years..
It's actually insidious how racism works because will Lewis be hated for literally no reason if he was white?
well he won't be. every single thing he gets hated on for would be glorified if he was white. every single trait, character attribute, quality and so called attitude lewis possesses that he gets bashed for is everything they crave for in their white guys. never saying lewis is perfect but he would never have to be to get hyped up to the sky if he was white. his every single past mistake would not be held against him while granting him simple grace or celebrating his achivements. they'd never attach adjectives like "objectively" and "statistically" while calling him the greatest, and every slightly positive opinion about him won't start with "uh i'm not a hamilton fan but..."
it's easy to chalk up all the horrendous opinions and actual hate campaigns to racism but it is this sport's reality. "i can dislike a driver without being racist" no, you can't. because the amount of scrutiny lewis gets is not a simple dislike or objective criticism, it's rooted in racism, prejudice and hate for his audacity to thrive in places he doesn't belong. it's them refusing to avail him a simple chance to be a human and mess up. it's more often than not just pure vendetta, someone counting down to the next gotcha, racists waiting for his next stumble so they could go "i told you, see this is why i hate the guy."
and this is not just about lewis either. look at the way they treat yuki. the hype dr3 is getting for doing i don't even know what vs how cold everyone is around yuki for what he has done against 3 different teammates in a single year. the casual stereotypes people use to joke about his team radios that nobody even blinks an eye anymore. so yes, this is inherently a racist sport and community that does not care about their feelings if they are not white. it will actively pray for their downfall, highlight their flaws, and ignore their achievements without any justification other than the color of their skin. and in lewis' case, hate his team and supporters simply by association.
anyway, we have to stop asking this question at some point because there's no other real answer there. for every single negative thing lewis has done that they want to use as a justification, there's an equal or even worse thing done by his white counterparts they've excused for.
tl;dr you know why.

Rest in peace to me because I am vague blogging so forgive me everyone but sometimes I am so very obsessed with people's opinions about why Elementary is Bad in the year of our lord 2023.
The argument was that Elementary was bad as an adaptation for making it a procedural crime drama and for making Sherlock an addict, both of which "miss the point" of the ACD canon. (This person was very obviously a big Johnlock person as well which wouldn't matter except for the particular hill they decided to defend.) I can't disagree that procedural crime dramas are a function of modernity, and are certainly not the "point" of the Holmes canon. If you dislike procedurals on principle then I think that's that and there you have it—but considering that procedurals are a very common way to do mystery-writing now, and considering that to my knowledge there has never been a Holmes & Watson procedural before, I do think that it makes sense for a modern adaptation. Modern Holmes, modern storytelling convention, matchy matchy. But no, not the point and perhaps a valid complaint.
But disliking Sherlock as an addict is a VERY FUNNY ISSUE TO TAKE WHEN YOU ARE PUTTING BBC SHERLOCK ON A PEDESTAL. My number one complaint about season four of Sherlock (and I am being dead serious) was the relationship they presented between John, Sherlock, and drug use. Because the "point," I think, was that Sherlock Holmes is willing to escalate conflict, lie to his partner, and put his own life in jeopardy for the sake of the mystery, damn the consequences (and, for that matter, he trusts that his partner will accept being abused and still help him no matter what). And I get that ACD!Holmes would do anything for the mystery and he didn't always treat Watson well in the canon but I think if the "point" were that these two characters are locked in an immutably abusive and codependent relationship then these characters would not having the staying power that they do. I won't say that the episode was bad writing per se, but I felt like that was the nail in the coffin for BBC Sherlock as an adaptation for me. It was like, yes sir, we've always given Sherlock drugs to use recreationally as in canon, and when he starts to use them in unhealthy ways and they negatively impact his relationships, it doesn't need to be addressed to the audience as an issue because actually Sherlock Holmes is Too Smart to have a drug problem, he was tricking you the whole time, and you were stupid for worrying.
Which like. Okay. I don't think that's the point, and if it is, I don't want it. No thanks.
Compare with Elementary. And not saying it's perfect. Not saying anyone has to like it. But we are thinking about Sherlock Holmes in a modern setting. And the fact of the matter is, when ACD wrote Sherlock Holmes, we did not have the same amount of information on substance use or addiction that we do today. This isn't to say that people can't use substances recreationally and safely, whether they live in the late 1800s or in the modern era. But in ACD's time, the common understanding of chemical dependence was often attributed to moral failing rather than any other contributing factor. There was no such thing as chemical dependence. There were people strong enough to make good choices and people who weren't. And that's not to say they didn't notice, say, genetic predispositions. That tied into much of eugenicist thought at the time. "Ah, yes, the way to fix society is to get rid of those gross people who keep generating morally weak children. Then society will be great!" The way people thought about drug use had very little to do with medicine and a lot to do with self-reinforcing prejudices against class or race. The Sherlock Holmes written by Arthur Conan Doyle did not have an addiction, not because he was just amazing at maintaining a healthy and recreational relationship with his substances, but because deep down he's Too Good For That. Back then Good People didn't have addictions. He had vices, perhaps, or indulgences, or experiments. But Holmes couldn't have a problem with substance use because he was above having a problem with substance use.
So we are left with Holmes in the modern era. Like before, Holmes uses drugs recreationally. He enjoys them. They, as before, help him think and help him stay close to the mysteries he solves. But something else has changed. Now we know that there is no such thing as being Too Smart or Too Good to have an addiction. And so our modern Holmes has to contend with the fact that yes, he's not Too Smart to develop a dependency, he's not Too Smart to relapse, and he is not Too Smart to suffer the same kind of struggle that so many ordinary people have also suffered. It's very humbling. It is indeed painful for him to accept Joan as a sober companion in his life. It's something impossible to escape. And it is really, really fruitful as a character trait. The conversation he has with Joan in the season 3 episode "The Eternity Injection" still sticks with me:
Sherlock: If you must know, Watson, I've been feeling a little bit down of late. It's the process of maintaining my sobriety. It's repetitive. And it's relentless. And above all, it's tedious. When I left rehab, I... I accepted your influence, I committed to my recovery. And now, two years in, I find myself asking, "'is this it?"' My sobriety is simply a grind. It's just this leaky faucet that requires constant maintenance, and in return offers only not to drip.
Joan: You have your work, you have me. You're alive.
Sherlock: I've told myself that many times. So many times, it has become unmoored from all meaning. Odd. I used to imagine that a relapse would be the climax to some grand drama. Now I think that if I were to use drugs again, it would in fact be an anticlimax. It would be a surrender to the incessant drip, drip, drip of existence.
I love this scene. I love this conversation. And I love it as an adaptation because this is not a conclusion or moral that Arthur Conan Doyle could have written in his own time. This scene captures some of the knowledge we have now, and likely some of the hurts and harms of our era as well. However, it says something about these two famous characters: that Sherlock, whose mind aches for mysteries, is equally if not more challenged by the practical matter of living his life, and that Joan is with him in it. It's not dramatic. It's just a conversation in their living room.
I think that's sufficient.
Sherlock is a detective and an addict in Elementary. His addiction changes the way he thinks and acts forever. And in some regards, that makes him worse. And in other regards, that makes him the best he's ever been. No, Arthur Conan Doyle did not write a story about an addict. Elementary did. And the point is that he solved mysteries and helped people, the point was that he was an incredible detective, and the point was that he was human, only human.
rrrrrrr don't say weird things about my show kthxbai

Tiny Dancer (Pt. 1)
Tumblr media
He knew people would expect him to go to your house first but he needed you to know he was okay.  Sirius trudged on through the woods and the rain, Buck Beak followed him reluctantly.
He was trying to grab the attention of anyone, as if he wasn’t leading a magical creature through the woods.
He saw your house in the distance, he began to move faster, wind flying under his feet.
As he snuck over the wall of your house, which was giving him flashbacks to your youth.
He stood under your wind, looking at the light room, eyes scanning for you.
Then you came into sight. You were picking up a book from your desk, which if he remembered correctly, was still in front of the window.
Twelve years.
You were just as beautiful as he remembered. He would argue even more than back then.
He walked to the rain drain that was attached to the wall, as he shimmed up it, he tried to keep his eyes to you.
He made it up to your window and leaned to peer in, looking into the bedroom. What he saw made him feel like he was home.
His pillows were untouched. His desk was untouched. His side of the closet was like he left it. His shoes were still in a pile by the bedroom door.
Memories replayed in his head so vividly he could almost see the young lovers painting the room and assembling furniture and dancing in the room.
You loved dancing.
You dancing, singing and watching yourself in the mirror as you were getting ready for your day of classes. You need the early morning dance session to get through the day.
You looked out the window from the Ravenclaw dorm vantage point, the sun hung a shimmering gold in the sky as you fixed your hair into the currently in style of the Farrah Fawcett flip.
You picked your favorite lip gloss out and swiped it on and made a classic loud pop.
You were the Ravenclaw It Girl and you enjoyed it. You had to admit that you thought you could be cocky at times but you worked hard for it. Long study nights hidden under concealer and a deflection of the hurtful terms like smart ass and Miss Know It All. The Yin and Yang of either having the upperhand or a disadvantage.
After you put on your hooped earrings and fixed your plaid navy and black stockings, you walked out the door to enjoy breakfast.
As you entered the Great Hall, your eyes went to where he usually sat. You expected his usual wolf whistle at you but you saw he was very focused on what Remus was saying. Two of your friends came up behind you and drug you into a conversation.
Sirius finally looked away, “Hey! Ravenclaw pin up! What’s the rush? Going to re-read your passed class textbook?” He shouted.
You turned, annoyed look, “Ah! Poser Punk! Thought you finally did us a favor and fucked off!” You shouted back, continuing your walk to your table to sit down.
Remus side eyed Sirius, who was nonchalantly going back to his orange juice, “You do know that if you weren’t rude, she wouldn’t be rude either?”
“Occasionally.” He mumbled, smirking to himself because he knew what other people didn’t.
You quietly read your book down by the lake enjoying the silence, peace filled you as you sat in your comfy clothes on your small yard blanket. A single copper  colored leaf fell from your tree: you called it your tree because this was your spot.
Autumn would be coming soon. You didn’t like the cold, preferring the mild warmth of spring.
A voice jerked you from your focus on the leaf, “Whatcha reading?” He asked, leaning against the tree.
You rolled your eyes, “You wouldn’t like it.”
He laughed as he walked to the bottom space of the blanket and flopped down, looking up at the slightly cloudy sky. “Try me. Might surprise you.”
You might as well humor him, “It is an illustrated copy of Pride and Prejudice. It has pictures of dresses, suits and rooms.”
“Am I you-“
“Not quite, you see, When we first him, he is being stiff and awkward at a social event, which I don’t think you have the capability to do, Mr. Social Butterfly. He does declare himself socially better than everyone and being quite a ass.”
He listened close to you, brown eyes falling on you as you excitedly explained  it to him. “But then there are a very similarities. He can admit when he’s wrong, and tries to change.”
“I can admit when I am wrong to others, it just isn’t often.” He noted, now sitting up and eyeing the lake.
“Then there’s the honour, kindness, and generosity that match.” You commented, watching him intently.
“I prefer The Great Gatsby to Pride and Prejudice.”
“Thought yourself a Gatsby type? And does that make me your Daisy?”
“For the first question, yes. As for the second one, not quite.” He kicked off his shoes and socks and was rolling up his pants. “Daisy is basically the lack of virtue and morals. She just hides behind money after she causes damage. Which you never have and I don’t think you ever could.”
He walked to the edge of the lake and stepped in, bending at the waist to pick up a rock to skip, “The only things you two share is charm, beauty and grace. A golden girl.” He added as he threw it. The rock skip only three times and he was already queuing up the next one.
“So what we’ve concluded is that we should be in a romance novel?” You said, kicking off your own shoes to join him. The water was extremely cold but you didn’t really care as you watched the second rock skip across the water.

I (27M) am best friends/soulmates with my Boss (29M). Our half-a-decade long friendship is based on mutual affection and respect. I think he's the best CEO in our line of work (admittedly other candidates are stupid, evil, or don't live near us). Boss is also a massive step up from his dad, the former CEO. His most major flaw as a person, though, is his prejudice against certain people who I'll call pastry chefs for anonymity's sake.
Boss' dad taught him that the process of learning to bake with sugar makes pastry chefs evil maniacs. This was not helped by the fact that many pastry chefs have and continue to assassinate Boss (2-3 in a good month). They are after revenge because Boss' dad killed most of the pastry-makers in the country (plus innocent baristas, food critics, and unfortunately located home cooks). Despite that, Boss' other friends and I have helped him learn empathy and kindness for others instead of just obeying what he thinks his dad would've wanted. He's changed. He doesn't interrogate people for smelling of gingerbread, like his dad would have, and he's apologized to loved ones of the pastry chefs he killed before we met. He's even in talks with some sugar-free pastry chef groups to negotiate peace.
Boss doesn't know is that I am a genius chef. As a baby, I manufactured an Easy-Bake Oven from my terrified mother's kitchen supplies. As I grew older, I'd suffer blackouts after which I'd come to with a six-layer, fully decorated cake in front of me. Nowadays I don't black out unless I've been poison, and I use my ability to identify and compete against the pastry chefs after Boss' life (or money). I'm unashamed to say that I'm an irreplaceable, essential element of Boss' security.
Sadly, if I told Boss this info it would likely damage our friendship deeply. He might fire me, putting himself in life-threatening danger. It would also be a deep emotional wound and might cause him to revert back to his most prejudiced self.
I've sometimes sacrificed pastry chef rights in order to keep Boss safe. For example, Boss thinks a celebrity pastry chef killed his mom. Someone told him the truth, which is that the chef was hired by his dad for experimental fertility treatment. His dad knew that the fertility drug's fumes was highly toxic to people with a common allergy, that his household contained at least one person with that allergy, and that prolonged exposure was fatal. Boss' dad was OK with 1 person dying so long as he got a kid; but backtracked when the strain of the drug killed Boss' mom in childbirth. After Boss learned this, he tried to kill his dad. I told him it was all a lie and he believed me. There have been numerous similar instances where I've prioritized boss' safety or my own over the general wellbeing of pastry chefs, or lied to Boss to protect individual pastry chefs. I can't help but feel I'm wrong no matter what I do.
AITA for not telling my boss I'm a pastry chef?

I don’t know how to truly classify Alola in the Crown Prince!au. Like basically it’s colonization through…friendship??? In a way???
Basically how it goes down is that Ash hears about Alola, he and his mom sail out, and then his mom sails back home after Ash gets his Zring and crystal from Tapu Koko. A legendary who has the most interest and curiosity in Ash besides Lugia back home. Ash just can’t leave Alola on such a wild cliffhanger.
There’s a lot more prejudice against Ash as well but its basically water down Psyduck feathers. He’s been labeled as the weird kid from all the other royal kids and teens. Despite his title no one ever wanted to genuinely play with him, so the hatred and suspicion towards Ash wasn’t new. That surprised a majority of people in Alola. They were used to visitors despite everything. Other royals across the pond coming to vaca but Ash was the sweetest.
Never once did he raise a hand towards one of Alola’s people let alone his voice. In anger that is. Ash’s squeals of laughter was an almost common sound to hear near the edge of the more known safe beaches. Surrounded by both wild and tamed Pokémon. He attracted them like he was a walking honeypot. It drove the younger children’s curiosity to the point that a group would follow him almost everyday. Trying to desperately learn to attract the same amount of Pokémon to themselves.
Tapu Koko has made it clearly known of his curiosity almost immediately on day one. Having to come to Ash’s rescue over a misunderstanding about the Zring he was given. Hala had declared Ash a thief despite the fact that Ash didn’t want the Zring, knowing how deeply rooted it was to Alola and not wanting to steal more from the land. The Kahuna had drug Ash and Pikachu out into a crowd. Despite the fact that Professor Kukui was begging Hala to back off. Making it known that King Lance would go to war and absolutely demolish Alola if Hala were to kill Ash.
It wasn’t until in a desperate attempt Kukui brought up the fact that Tapu Koko might have actually given the ring to Ash. Not a second later, when Hala was standing over Ash who was kneeling and head bowed in acceptance, the God appeared out of thin air. Angry and visibly buzzing as sparks of electricity zipped through the air.
Melemele’s records had never shown Tapu Koko angry at their island Kahuna before. Other people weren’t so lucky but never a Kahunas. That is until know. Hala was actually knocked back into the crowd, slamming into an old sun-baked table that fishermen usually cleaned their catch on. Haunting the crowd and what also felt like nature itself.
No one moved, not even Ash. Who was still kneeling with his arms held behind his back on his own accord. Head bowed and neck bared more then anyone getting their head sliced off would show. Even Ash’s breathing was controlled. Muscles loose and not tensed like any normal person would be. Not until that Tapu trilled softly floating close enough to use one of its beak-like hands to pull Ash’s head up. Bright blue eyes staring down into brown.
Unlike the crowd who saw nothing unnatural, besides their Tapu’s actions, about the conversation. Koko say the aura that flashed through Ash’s eyes. A clear understanding grew in the Prince’s hazel eyes before he was helped up into his feet. Ash catches Pikachu mid air as his partner finally struggled out of the hood a few rock type Pokémon had him under.
Despite the interaction, Ash was cordial. Never once slipping up in his respect towards Alola’s people and Kahuna Hala. Leaving it up to Hala if they were to ever interact again as Tapu Koko started to show up a lot more around Ash.
The other Kahuna’s were quite different. Nanu had connections to Giovanni, the bastard Count who became a traitor to the Crown and the father of Ash, so he knew who Ash was. The titles were hollow on his lips but it didn’t deter Ash. Not in the slightest. The Ula’ula Kahuna’s actions actually made Ash become bolder in his attempts to creat at least an acceptance between the two. It wasn’t until the final trial, when Tapu Bulu made his likeness for Ash known, did Nanu soften on his cold front. It wasn’t much but Ash was diligent taught to read the hidden details in every word and every movement.
Kahuna Olivia was better, almost a breath of fresh air after Nanu and Hala. She was amazed at how well Pikachu, Ash, and his newly caught Rockruff worked well. She was the only Kahuna that constantly sought the Prince out when he stayed three weeks kn her island. Amazed as well as Tapu Lele, a very fickle Legendary, adored Ash and his Pokémon. Doting on him like a loving Aunt almost would. Bringing fruits and coconuts she cracked open herself. Whenever Olivia was with Ash while Tapu Lele was nearby was a sight to see. The majority of the time while on Akala island Ash was covered is sparkling scales from Tapu Lele as well.
Kahuna Hapu was… instresting to interact with. Seeing such a young child, much younger then himself, take on such a big role with heavy responsibilities. They argued a lot, the minimal numbers of humans on the island served Ash well in this case. No one could really push him down to his knees and slice his throat from ear to ear from the unfiltered arguments over things with Hapu. It was all over petty things too, though Ash had never disrespected her. Her actions and reasoning on things? He’d pick on them slightly here and there. Just trying to give advice that Hapu actually needed but it turns into an argument between the two.
It wasn’t until they had gotten the news at the same time from Mina, Hali’s trusted trial captain and friend, about poachers. Before Hapu could even begin gathering her team to go hunt them down Ash and Pikachu were already gone. Vanished into thin air in seconds. The next morning, as Hapu was finally ready to head out, Ash showed up at her doors. Both he and Pikachu were covered in mud, branches, leaves, and Ash even had whole thorny branches sticking to him. Yet he didn’t have a care the world about his wounds as Ash dumped the poachers bloodied and beaten onto the ground. Hog tied with a sour berry stuffed into their jaws.
It was then that Hapu had given Ash some respect. Knowing at least they shared a resentment towards a common foe then just between the two of them. The respect grew as Ash vouched towards Tapu Fini, during the first time they ever met, that Hapu was Kahuna material. Though he didn’t know that she wasn’t the official Poni island Kahuna. His words had pushed Fini enough to finally notice Hapu as her Kahuna as well.
Obviously more things happen and yada yada. But it comes down to where Ash meets up with Hala again, the first time Ash seeks the Kahuna again after everything. He spills his worries towards the man about Kalos and Unova nearby. Informing the Kahuna that he’s seen charting ships nearby all four islands belonging to both regions.
He walked not just Hala but the village elders and Kukui about the meaning behind the charter ships. How this could mean that Unova and Kalos are most definitely looking towards trying to conquer Alola and likely to enslave their people. It wasn’t until later, when a few Kalosian and Unovian nobles came onto land to see “what the fuss” is about Alola. All the time Ash was right besides Kahuna Hala and Olivia, who had shown up as support for Hala, and told them just exactly what the Nobles and soldiers were doing.
They were all scouting Alola out, trying to judge just how much the islands were worth a fight over. He then continued on how Kalos and Unovia definitely knew that they were both interested in the isles. Which means that the two were going to negotiate splitting the islands up before even trying to begin the fight to conquer them.
Not knowing what to do, as Hala had to be grudgingly admit that they didn’t have the strength to fight back against one fully fleshed our region. Let alone two who would most likely work together. Hala did want to fight back against the two charter ships though. Desperately wanting to send a message out that Alola wasn’t for sale though one look at Ash’s expression as he searched the two crowds and eyed the ship stopped him. It didn’t help that Ash immediately launched into the fact that, with the two charter ships, Kalos and Unova most likely could take Alola by force now.
In desperation, Hala turned to Ash and asked what they islands should do. He wasn’t expecting Ash to offer up a treaty between the East Crown and Alola. It was a crude one Ash had drawn up in the moment, explaining that the treaty would basically break down into segments.
First off would be that Alola would be considered owned land by the East Crown. Yes it’s very far from Kanto and Johto but they also had the most military and naval defenses in the world. Letting them basically lead the royals of the world as well in war and social circles. Unova and Kalos wouldn’t dare try and tread a foot near Alola’s ocean boarders without some kind of backlash. Alola would still operate how it is, with the added vendors and tourists, and would gain power to make rules that even the highest nobles would abide by.
Ash would personally see to it that the traditional trials will never die out, though he had to admit that some kind of court would have to be built. Just to sustain his Uncles possible wishes. Ash had power in the high council and court but not enough to leave everything how it is. This treaty is not a give-give relationship, Ash would have to take something to make the field more level so Lance could just give it a second of thought before throwing it out.
Second off would be that no Zrings or Crystals should leave Alola, unless they were ethically gained by someone who did and passed the trails. They wouldn’t become a fashion statement in Kanto, Johto, or any of the small islands that littered the coast lines. Ash had put an ‘X’ by this point and explained that this most likely would be circled back by his Uncle so it wasn’t much use in going in to much detail.
Hala had agreed to call the other to Kahunas to at least discuss this offer. Worried more about his people know then his pride. It didn’t even take them two days before all four agreed to Ash’s conditions. They were shocked though to learn, after Ash had immediately gone home to hopefully start drafting a real treaty, that Ash would be returning in a few months time with the real treaty and with his uncle and mother in tow.
All four Kahunas were shocked to meet the respectful King who bowed deeply in his own greetings to the Kahunas before trying, and failing, to correctly do an Alolan greeting. The docile Princess and mother to Ash had did the same but her Alola greeting was much more refined. Taking a step back to allow King Lance to take charge yet again.
The treaty that Ash finally showed them, the real fully fleshed out one, held a lot more pro’s for the Alolan people then cons. Hell the only cons were that there would be a lot more eastern vendors, tourists, and that an army and naval base would be built off one of the four islands so that the crown could protect Alola better. Everything else Ash had tried to promise and more were written in there and the four Kahunas collectively sighed in peace. Knowing that there wouldn’t be any bloodshed over their land and Ash had avoided war in any possibility as well.

Top 5 worst parts of the hp series?
This is pretty hard tbh. Not because it’s sooo good, but because I have many bones to pick with HP.
Aight, let’s get to work:
1. The treatment of House-elves.
I don’t even need to elaborate. It’s just horrible. They’re literally enslaved and abused, and not one character—not even any of the good guys—in the entire series aside from Hermione has a problem with it.
2. Rowling’s “feminist” bias, sexism, and treatment of feminine girls.
Examples:
Hermione attacking Ron and making him bleed because he kissed a girl being seen as okay and having no consequences. Ron getting pissed about Hermione and Krum (for like, one night) is portrayed as horrible and apparently he’s “such a jerk!!1!”
Lavender and Parvati—who are very feminine—being consistently mocked and belittled by Hermione, Fleur being mocked and excluded by Molly, Ginny, and Hermione because she was… pretty??? Literally what reason was there for them to talk shit about her behind her back. [Plus, when Harry (kinda?) defended Fleur and pointed out that she was chosen as a Triwizard champion, Hermione automatically assumes he’s merely lusting after her.]
Rowling’s constant sexism and transphobia when it comes to Snape’s character. This post perfectly sums it up.
Rowling making the main three female characters (Hermione, Ginny, and Luna) “unique” and “not like other girls.” Omg look! Hermione likes to read and isn’t girly!! She’s soo relatable right?? Omg look! Ginny is soooo badass and fiesty!! She plays Quidditch and has older brothers and she bullies Fleur merely because she’s girly. Do you guys like her yet?? Omg look! Luna is soo quirky and believes in weird mystical stuff (as if they didn’t go to a school for wizards), and is bullied and excluded for it. She’s sooo unique, right??
Every female villain (Bellatrix, Rita, Umbridge) in the series being childless. (I can make an entire separate post about this but I’ll just cut it short.)
The girls’ dorm being portrayed as needing a defense against rape but not the boys’ dorm.
[There are wayyyy more examples but I’m afraid I’ll write a million-word essay filled with hatred and a lot of screaming if I continue.😅]
To make things clear: I put the blame solely on Rowling, I don’t blame any of the girls (except maybe Ginny and Hermione), it’s Rowling’s stupid bias I’m pissed off at.
3. Date-rape drugs (love potions) being sold and used without any consequences.
Merope raped Tom Riddle Sr. by using a love potion on him and he was the one painted as the bad guy for “abandoning poor Merope.” She was a rapist and was painted sympathetically to (and even by) the readers.
Gred and Feorge (not a typo) sold love potions and faced no consequences.
4. Abuse never being taken seriously.
The abuse Harry, Snape, and Sirius faced from their families is never actually acknowledged and taken seriously. People’s treatment of House-elves—literal abuse—is never addressed.
5. How the Hogwarts Professors treat their students.
Filch and Umrbridge flat-out torture students, other professors ridicule, bully, and even sometimes endanger the lives of students (*looks at McGonagall and Hagrid*), and face no consequences for it. Like I get that it’s an old-fashioned Wizard school in the 90s but COME ON.
I have many more problems with the series (the stereotypes and the gender roles, the corruption, Dumbledore, no Wizarding therapy, the grooming and separation, the biases and prejudice, etc etc), but these are the ones I’m mentioning and the ones that bring out the most anger in me, especially the first three.

What's Eddie Munson's canon sexuality and why it makes so much noise inside the fandom?
Tumblr media
[This post opens a very serious discussion about a subject that is so debated in the fandom, so I need everyone to understand that this is just a conversation about the subject and not a fight to see which side is right or not.]
I don't want to be disrespectful or homophobic in any way, because I'm also part of the lgbt community, but apparently you can also be homophobic if you're from the community (believe it or not) and really those people exist, but it's not my case. My opinion is based only on the facts of the show, and I also have written about gay and lesbian couples (not here on tumblr yet) so it's not related to any kind of disrespect to anyone in the community. I hope no one feels offended by the post.
I also don't want to disrespect anyone's headcanons or shipps, because everyone believes in what they want and has their own interests, and that won't change your view about the character or not. Anyone who believes he is something specific will believe it whether they read this or not, but I just want to open a dialogue on the subject, as I have already saw a lot of people bringing this type of conversation about his personality, his attitude, etc.
I've seen in several places for months (since season 4 actually came out) the amount of debate about Eddie's sexuality, and after hearing a lot of people talking about it, I decided to say what I think and why I think that, you know?
He is a very popular character and has caught the attention of many people, mainly the alternative community (because he is part of the alternative community, that is, who do not dress or like the same interests as most people), and unlike the alternative community of that time, ours currently has much greater freedom of expression, and with that we are also able to express our sexuality, something that was not possible in the past, at the time when Eddie is portrayed.
Most "standard" people are heterosexual, while lgbt people are very much against this standard of something that is more accepted by the society, which leads to alternative people, who are also different and are marginalized by their lifestyle as well as the lgbt community.
So it's very common for us to link the subject of an lternative person with an lgbt person, and there are also many alternative people who are lgbt (like me for example), and in the 80's there was a lot of prejudice with those two social groups.
But these days the alternative community and the lgbt community can finally expose their sexualities, and as alternatives are often part of fandoms and internet communities in general, they found Eddie Munson and welcomed him for being part of this alternative group. When you like a character a lot and understand them, it is normal to attribute characteristics of yourself to them, for example your beliefs (if you belong to a party or not, a religion or not, are you a feminist or not and etc.), or their sexuality. So many people who are part of the alternative and lgbt community like to believe that he is like them too, for example him being a gay person who couldn't talk freely about his sexuality during the 80's.
Changing the subject for a better understanding of the conclusion of the blog,
Eddie is, canonically, part of one of those groups. The other is still a debate. So he is very marginalized, excluded, cursed, and people always hate him wherever he goes. Because in addition to being a metalhead, his father is apparently a criminal, he has no parents and lives with his uncle, in the trailer park in a small town, that is, he is very poor too. And he's "dumb" (to people) because he flunked out twice. And he sells drugs too, that is, his life is already a disgrace
In addition to the satanic panic of the 80's, then the metalheads were already being persecuted and being accused of murder and doing satanic rituals, they arrested a lot of people for nothing, so Eddie was the biggest terror in the school apparently.
Everyone hates this man, but he doesn't let it get him down. He's very playful, immature, idiotic, and that's partf of his personality. Eddie got used to the bullying and it made him more skittish, he replies back, at this point his reputation is so destroyed that he doesn't even care about destroying it anymore, for example we have that wonderful scene that became a mark for him inside the show:
Tumblr media
So he doesn't care if he looks weirder, besides the fact that in metal culture in the 80's people were a little crazy, they made faces on stage, made fun of each other, flicked their hair, "sex, drugs and rock n roll", and that's what Eddie believes in and it's what he's used to do. Being more "crazy" and carefree, Eddie doesn't care about a lot of things related to posture and a lot of masculinity, despite being clear that he is a cis man and has masculine mannerisms made very clear, he doesn't care about, for example, """looking gay """ (using a more blunt term). In other words he doesn't have fragile masculinity, but he does have his own masculinity.
That doesn't change the fact that he can be interested in other men, after all, gay men are still men. However, many people connect his carefree behavior and his rebellion against society with the fact that in addition to being a metalhead, he is also a gay character.
We often see Eddie jumping up and down, talking close to other male characters' faces, and generally embracing with everything he can the fact that he's a different person and he loves being that way, and it's very obvious. But that still doesn't make clear the answer to the question: is he gay or not?
And now we come to my personal belief, based on what Stranger Things showed us: I don't think so.
Many people are already tired of this discussion, and answer that Eddie is bi or pan, simply to end this doubt once and for all. But it doesn't make sense, since within the series he has never shown even the slightest interest in any male, not even in Steve. (please don't kill me)
Is Eddie interested in men?
I know this divides many opinions, and everyone believes what they want as I said, but it is very clear that inside the canon he had no interest in Steve.
All interactions between him and Steve were marked by the simple fact that the two belong to very different social groups. Steve is the bully, and Eddie is bullied. He's been the "King Steve" for years and Eddie was a student at Hawkins High when he was named that, and maybe he and his friends from the time of season one called Eddie a weirdo, they judged him, because as everyone remembers they were idiots.
Eddie says this, literally in the forest scene, which is so often used to defend the fact that he had an interest in Steve. I don't remember exactly what it was, but it was something like, "I didn't want to admit that 'King Steve' was actually a nice guy. Rich parents, popular, ain't that douchebag? No way, that goes against all laws of the universe". The looks they're exchanging are awkward looks, Eddie more like "Seriously you're not going to bully me? I don't trust you. But yeah I can try to be your friend" And Steve is more like "he's such a weird guy (but I don't treat him badly, he just wouldn't be part of my conversation group)" because he does have that social construction that Eddie is weird because he's alternative, and Eddie don't help much either, he's staggering around, stumbling around, generally a little flustered and saying some unrelated things, so Steve thinks it's weird even if he doesn't hate him for it. Do you remember how uncomfortable the silence was when Eddie said "Ozzy? Ozzy Osborne? He took the head off the bat on stage" and Steve thought it was weird as hell, but he didn't say anything.
Steve and Eddie are the perfect embodiment of that meme "mom: son, go play with the neighbor's son // the neighbor's son: *insert something weird as hell here*
People say that Eddie was freaking out about Steve with his shirt off but really he was giving him a dirty look, he was looking at him and judging like "look at how he likes to show off 🙄". And then when Steve and Nancy were having a moment he throws the jacket at Steve and tells him to get dressed, but not because he was jealous of the two of them, but because they were almost climbing on top of each other and Steve was all bragging walking up and down shirtless, no one deserves to be watching live flirting, and he said enough for the two to be quiet for a bit.
The famous "don't ya, big boy?" was because he was teasing Steve, and the scene where he was pointing a broken bottle at Steve, for god's sake, I've seen people freaking out saying they were crazy to kiss each other in that scene.
There's a lot of talk about the black hanky code on his back pocket, that wearing it in the 80's meant he was gay and had bdsm preferences, but the black bandana is also part of metal culture, countless band members have already used this bandana in their back pocket, like James Hetfield (vocalist of Metallica) and Slash from Guns n' Roses. In addition, gays did not use this code in open places because it was very dangerous to be victims of some kind of violence if people found out about their sexuality, so they only used this code in establishments and safe places where there were only gay people and they were not at risk. Eddie uses it everywhere, and I didn't notice, but from what I've heard around, he doesn't keep that bandana in a specific pocket, he changes it at some point in the series, I just don't know which one. And let's face it, the designers only put it there for him to use in his hair during volume 2.
Is Eddie interested in women?
Eddie doesn't have the slightest indication of having any interest in men, but for women he has many. Not an insane amount because his personality doesn't revolve around it (like Billy), but it's still made very clear.
The first one is when he's giving his speech in the cafeteria in the first scene, and he makes way for the cheerleaders to pass with the biggest smile in the world and proceeds to look at them head to the feet when they walk past, even though he's pissed inside and lecturing the kids just now, but yeah, poor boy needs to grab every chance
Tumblr media
The second clue is how into Chrissy he was in the forest scene, he is always respectful and at first he was really interested in selling and leaving, but after they started talking he showed interest and started doing things to try to make her laugh, invited her to watch him play, was very charming, even said he had tattoos and even though he had several showing on his arm, he made sure of pulling down the collar of his shirt to show the one he had on his chest. Joseph himself said that he was trying to make it look like Eddie was flirting with her, and he believes he was interested in Chrissy. The Duffers said they had a chemistry that could have been developed but couldn't because Chrissy's death scene was already filmed, also implying that Eddie was interested in her, so it's somewhat clear that he has an interest in her. women.
youtube
Maybe, just a thought that i had without any confirmation from anyone, maybe he was hoping that something might develop at his house when he went to get Chrissy the drugs, and who knows, maybe they even used it there and ended up doing something, I don't know. Of course he was always respectful to her and never harassed Chrissy or anything like that, and he wasn't trying to take advantage of her either, but things develop, and he was bringing a girl who was flirting into his house at night where they were completely alone, Eddie you don't even try to be discrete
I wasn't the only one who thought this, because I saw a meme that went like this: "Jason if Chrissy hadn't been attacked by Vecna when she was at Eddie's house: *insert here several pictures of oxen and men with horns*" (this doesn't prove anything, I just thought it was funny to comment)
Other than that, which is what we see in the series, there are other things on the set that imply his sexuality and I decided to comment because they are veryyyy interesting information.
This part here is a little explicit so I would mark it as more +18 information, because it talks about something more personal about him
In a video inside the recording set where Eddie's room is shown in detail, and shows things that were outside the camera in the show, it is possible to see a Heavy Metal magazine (that's the name of the magazine) with a 1986 edition of Druuna.
Druuna is basically a series of erotic comics set in a post-apocalyptic future/sci-fi universe, whose protagonist has sex with men in exchange for a cure for a illness. All, literally all the takes of the comics in which she appears are in compromising positions, wearing very short and tight clothes, and in the comics all the time there are nude scenes and explicit sex scenes, with private parts exposed (basically is a hentai comic). It is even heavily criticized for having a constant objectification of women and some romanticized rape scenes, but let's not talk about this right now...
Tumblr media
If that isn't proof enough, this magazine is at the foot of his bed, in front of the bedside table, and on top of that table there are a bunch of little things scattered all over the place. One of these things is a pack of condoms, and this, in addition to indicating that he is a sexually active person or at least cautious and thinks about it, there is also another observation: the two are at his bedside, and within his reach. If it's there he put it on recently, and I'm sure that if it's at the foot of the bed it doesn't belong there and he was reading when he left it lying there. You know what that means.
Tumblr media
And yes, we both know that he uses these things. But have you ever thought that maybe he uses them... ate the same time? 💀
Okay I think that's enough for this post. Thank you for reading 😭
Edit:
This kind of blog makes me think "girl, where?? 😭😭😭
Tumblr media
wtf that's literally sexual assault
do you REALLY think that Eddie Munson could sexually assault someone?
then with Steve he's probably a monster since you said that he do those things and that they are dating
do you support a ship that one of the guys can sexually assault someone? 😀 (in their logic of course)
"and chrissy is a minor" (she's not, but that's their argument)
ok then you support a ship that one of the guys can be a pedo* and you're okay with that??
it literally makes no sense, they're trying to prove their point but at the end they say that Eddie is a bad person 😭 then why are you trying to put him in a shipp IF YOU SAY THAT HE'S A PED
Tumblr media
the REAL representation doesn't really matter for y'all right (and I say this as an LGBTQI+ person).
